Party Polarization
Singer, Matthew. Elite Polarization and the Electoral Impact of Left Right Placements: Evidence
from Latin America, 1995 2009. Latin American Research Review 51, no. 2 (April 2016): 174.
MasterFILE Premier, EBSCOhost (accessed December 12, 2016).
The research article developed an idea of party polarization being an essential factor in the
continuation and development of modern democracy. This is represented within graphic organizers
of latin american countries that carry varying levels of party polarization that affect voter belief
and direction. Singer utilized legislative surveys to find voter placement and how differentiated the
chosen party was from an ideological norm in a specific country. He also found that in poorer

The period between the civil war and World War two were seen to carry a more centralized policy
agenda between the two parties. Since World War two, the author concluded that the ideologies
have split very quickly, and that is because of the lack of the Southern Democrats in this century.
The author saw this as a problem, because hostility between the parties is on a continuous climb.
Growing aggressiveness between the parties is negative, because the parties will have a much more

Alain Locke s The New Negro
Though times have changed, Alain Locke tries to convey that meaning into many of his writings.
Alain Locke has been an activist for the many years of the Harlem Renaissance. He spoke
forward about how the ancestors of African American referred as the Old Negros and the newer
generation referred to as the New Negros took different outlooks on life. American Negros goal in
life at this point in time was to change their mentality. But how? Locke had introduced many
readers to the vibrant wondrous world of African Americans. He opened the eyes to what American
Negros can do and not what they cannot do, no one should be restricted by any boundaries. One of
his most influential writings was Enter the New Negro , its open the mind of those who have come
across it. The treatment of African Americans seemed as it has changed from the 1920 to the 1930s
but mistreatment still remained. At this time African Americanneeded to convey the images left
behind by their ancestors into something greater to please and uphold their legacy, not the legacy of
themselves but a legacy for the African American community altogether. Locke speaks of the
mistreatment when he states;
The Negro, too, for his part, has idols of the tribe to smash. If on the one hand the white man has
erred in making the Negro appear to be that which would excuse or extenuate his treatment of him,
the Negro, in turn, has too often unnecessarily excused himself because of the way he has been
treated. The

Lady Windermere s Fan Essay
Morality of the Upper Class in Oscar Wilde s Lady Windermeres Fan Lady Windermere s Fan is
a witty commentary on the wiles of social properness in late 19th century England. Oscar Wilde
was a flamboyant homosexual understandably critical of the norms of his day. Within the play, lie
subtle and overt contradictions about the properness of the high born upper class. During the
Victorian period, strict rules governed mannerisms, protocol, etiquette, decency, etc. This decorum
became too oppressive for Wilde s taste. The morality of the upper class is supposedly the standard
of the day, to which everyone is evaluated. However, in this play, the morality of the main
characters pivots more on the situation instead of social status.... Show more content on

Notice, they are also the smallest of the three layers. Just like in real life! As far as the caliber of
acting, it was superb. (I didn t expect to like it as much as I did!) The timing of mannerisms was
tight and abrupt, as well as the speech. To prevent talking over one another, the characters had to
have precise cuing from the other actors. The Duchess of Berwick STOLE the show. She s the
most colorful character and most vital to the understanding of the conflict. She dictates her role
very well within an embellished gown of supremacy. She has to intersect the other characters
paths at just the right time. She also has to use a lot of facial expressions to convey her character
s way of over emphasizing her opinions. Her animations are overstated like a true snobby
aristocrat. Traci Scott is magnificent! In fact, if you take her out of the play, the whole thing
becomes so lackluster. In fact, the other characters seem purposely insipid to show how much fun,
or interesting at best, a little scandal can be. The scenery was simple and purposeful. This is
functional in that the eye is not distracted from the intended focus: the characters dialogue. Yes, the
setting is important, but not to overshadow the conflict(s) at hand. Some reviews described a
mediocre delivery based on the dull scenery. Who cares? The richness comes from the plot itself
and the witty presentation, not what flowers are in the vase! The scenery is not

Puerto Rico Imperialism
The international perception of Puerto Rico as an American colony a failed economy or a
misunderstood predicament of colonization
Since the end of the Spanish American War in 1898 the United States has proclaim the
Commonwealth of Puerto Rico under United States territory. Spain handed Puerto Rico over to the
United States as spoil of war and to liquidate its war debts. To this day, the political, economic, and
cultural impact of the occupation and subsequent annexation of Puerto Rico as an unincorporated
territory remains subject to controversy and debate. The real polemic of this idea resides on the
influence of the United States to held full responsibility for military, monetary, and foreign affairs.
The Popular Democratic Party, led by Luis MuГ±oz MarГn, and the United States in 1952 adopted
Puerto Rico s current Commonwealth status as a global wave of decolonization. Even if this create
the local government and the Constitution that will always be subject to be veto from Congress. In

Descriptive Essay About Country
Often when the word country is brought up, people think of big trucks, the song Big Green
Tractor by Jason Aldean, taking a four wheeler through the mud, and sometimes even a
confederate flag. However, country can not be bought at a store. It s something to be born with.
Country isn t just a bunch of dumb rednecks, as it is normally associated with. Country runs
much deeper. To me, Country is a way of life that makes yourself work the hardest you can, love
the most you can, and create memories in the great outdoors that can never be forgotten. One of
my favorite songs of all time comes from Luke Bryan; That s What Country is . In the song,
Bryan says It aint a rebel flag you bought at the mall it s a hide away bed in an old horse stall,
two kids getting caught stealing a Boones Farm kiss. This is my favorite verse because Bryan
takes the highly thought belief that country is defined by rebel flags and simply says that it is
not true. Instead of a confederate flag labeling country, country is two kids making memories
that they will never forget (Even thought it might not be completely legal). Later in the verse,
Bryan says It aint a John Deere cap that s never fell in the cotton, it s a Jimmie Rodgers song that
was long forgotten. Its homemade peach ice cream on sunburnt lips, that s what country is. This
relates to me directly. Every year my family and I will go out to the strip of apple trees on the farm,
pick the apples, peel them, and my dad cooks up applesauce

What Is Oedipus Role In Greek Society
Crossroads, and hidden glade, oak and the narrow way at the crossroads, that drank my father s
blood offered you by my hands, do you remember still what I did as you looked on, and what I
did when I came here? (Oedipus Rex, 1575 1580) Precisely placed at the crossroads of fate and
autonomy, Oedipus struggles to define what is fate in his life, and what is left to his own
discretion, challenging the common thoughts of Greek Society. Transcending thousands of years,
this question, often posed within the context of this play, comes to light in high school classrooms
across America. What is seemingly an ineffective, antiquated piece of literature from ancient
Greece, actually should serve as a piece of required reading for high school English... Show more

Knowledge is gained through exposure to new ideas. By allowing oneself to bemuse vulnerability
to a school of thought different than of what is accustomed, then new information is assimilated,
adapted, interpreted, and accepted. Though Sophocles explores many themes throughout his prose
such as fate and free will, knowledge and power, and wisdom, one theme that came new to the
Greek was the power of determination to rise above circumstances. Greek culture celebrated the
achievement of mankind. They were always on the cunning edge of human innovation. Greece was
the Apple of the day. However, Sophocles challenges this idea in Greek society by showing they
determination might not always produce the desired end result. In Oedipus case, his determination
cost him his sight, as well as banishment from the kingdom. Essentially, he is sending is subliminal
yet profound message posed in a state of questioning to Greek Society; he asks them to what extent
is the progress made beneficial, and to when is the threshold broken for the advancement to become
detrimental behavior. Throughout the play, Sophocles does not fully answer, or really even attempt
to answer the dilemma he poses, he merely addresses the question, and shows the disastrous
consequences and ramifications that come with blind determination. Throughout the story,
Sophocles casts a dark shadow upon determination with no insight or

Methodology Involves Qualitative Research
4.2 Choose an appropriate methodology in terms of the research question
Research methodology generally involves qualitative research or quantitative research, or a mixture
of both. A quantitative research methodology involves the analysis of data collected from a large
number of surveys or interviews. On the other hand, methodologies for qualitative research often
involve using surveys or interviews to collect information about people their attitudes, experiences
and behaviors.
The Methodology that will be used in terms of the research question will be the qualitative research
which involves a phenomenological perspective. The researcher aims to evaluate the meaning of
events for people in particular situations, the characteristic of qualitative research are as follows.

Engineering Advantage Of Pv Technology
P hotovoltaic(PV) technology is booming, with the pursuit of sustainable energy is
continuously increasing in rate of over 30% per year since 1999 [1]. At present, the most
commonly PV technology is crystalline silicon cells. This is powerful and stable PV technology.
However, its potential of cost reduction is strongly limited, with the high cost with silicon wafer.
Recently thin film solar cells as a substitute for traditional crystalline silicon cells, it has up to
21.5 percent of the photoelectric conversion efficiency, while its production cost is only one third
of the crystalline silicon cells or even one third [2]. And recently, there are several commonly used

it also formed 2 layers under 490 530 В°C and 350 В°C individually [2]. Dektak profilometer was
used to measure the film thickness. And the thickness is the total thickness of the double layer
structure CdTe films. The data samples were modules with thickness ranging from 0.5 to 3Ојm.
Aside from that, the CdCl2 annealing treatment was applied under 385 В°C with saturated CdCl2

The Bible By The Poisonwood Bible
Midterm
Movies and books about missionaries haven t portrayed missionaries in a positive light. Fiction
writers and movie producers have led people on to believe, that missionaries are self serving and
as having specific intentions. One of the prime examples of misrepresenting a missionary; is the
book called The Poisonwood Bible. I had to read The Poisonwood Bible in an English class.
The Poisonwood Bible is the story of a missionary named Nathan Price and his family. Nathan
was Reverend and he was mean to his wife and children. Nathan and his family lived in the
Congo. He was disrespectful to his wife and his children were terrified of him. I remember reading
the book thinking, how does he represent God?
Missionaries are sent out to cross cultural barriers and spread the gospel. Missionaries are not sent
too foreign countries to destroy or to break the people down. Missionaries have faced scrutiny,
because of the negative of missionaries in movies and in books. There some positive movies made
about missionaries.
Jesus was the perfect missionary. Jesus went to different places and taught the word of God. Jesus
drew people unto him. Jesus told his disciples, that if they follow him, he would make them
fishermen of men. Jesus taught anywhere. Jesus delivered the word so profoundly.
Jesus was from the lineage of Abraham. God made a covenant with Abraham to make him the
father of many nations. According to Matthew Jesus was the Messiah for all people. When Jesus

Essay On Muscle Pain And Pain
elthammyo.com.au Most Common Causes of Muscle Dysfunction and Pain
When people allow muscle issues to rule their lives, they can cease to be able to perform their job
duties or otherwise lead a normal life. Myotherapy relieves these issues, but before the right
therapy regimen is possible the therapist must discover the root cause for the problem. Below, we
share with you a list of the most common causes for of muscle dysfunction and pain.
1. Trauma
Sprains, whiplash, dislocations and other injuries can traumatise muscles to the point of
malfunction and a feeling of discomfort. Injuries not only affect the main muscles, but also the
surrounding areas that support the muscles, including the tendons.
2. Postural Strain

Repetitive Movements
Another common cause for muscle pain and dysfunction is repetitive movements. For example, a
person who types each day at work can suffer wrist pain and stiffness. If the person does not
address this problem, it can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome, which is debilitating at times.
4. Prolonged Immobilisation
When limbs are in casts or other prolonged immobilisation occurs, muscles stiffen and must
gradually loosen back up for the person to regain full range of motion. Pain also accompanies this
issue.
5. Over Exertion
Over exertion from physical activities, whether for work or for leisure, often leads to muscular
pain and stiffness, especially the following day. The worst thing to do is just to relax in bed or on
the couch when this occurs since you will just become stiffer and sorer. In the past, professional
would recommend this course of treatment for this issue, but today, it is known that it is better to
move around as much as possible to work the soreness out and turn to non invasive treatments, such
as myotherapy.
Consult with Eltham Myotherapy Clinic to learn additional facts about the common causes for
muscle dysfunction and pain. We are experts in performing quality myotherapy treatments to

Conflict Resolution Paper
Conflict Resolution Paper As nurses, it is imperative that we have skills to deal with conflict we
encounter throughout the day. Some conflicts are easily handled with simple solutions; other
disagreements can persist for weeks or even months and never be handled in a proper way to
resolve the situation. The later kind of situation can create resentment, anger, and animosity
between employees or colleagues. In this paper I will describe a conflictsituation with resolution
strategies used by the confronter, discuss other ways to resolve the conflict, and discuss the
conflict theory most beneficial to use with a diverse group of people.

Avoidance results in resolution being delayed rather than resolving the issue in a timely manner
(Eason Brown, 1999). The ill feelings between PCTs and nurses were created by avoiding talking
about the problem for a long time. Avoidance resulted in a snowball effect of increasing resentment
and anger between the two groups.
Conflict Transformational Theory Solving conflict using the transformational theory is beneficial.
According to Chinn (2008), using the conflict transformation theory, the conflict transformation is
used before there is a conflict. Any rising issue is addressed in a constructive way, paying
attention to possible lessons learned (Chinn, 2008). Using the transformational theory would
have prevented the bad feelings towards each other. It is not one person s responsibility to try to
resolve a conflict (Chinn, 2008). If transformational theory were used in the described situation,
the problem would have been addressed much earlier. Management would have called for a
meeting where everybody would have had a chance to voice their problem according to the
transformational steps and theory described below. As a disagreement arises, the group follows
specific steps to come to a solution. Chinn (2008), describes four steps of critical reflection. First,
each member has a chance to describe the how I feel... about the conflict (Chinn, 2008). In the
second step, the group focuses on when (or about)... where the

The Family Fang Analysis
In the words of renowned artist Pablo Picasso, the purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life
off our souls . Art can be interpreted in many ways by those who view it, it can take many forms
and its purpose is not always clear. The way art is defined is just as broad. The Merriam Webster
dictionary defines it as a branch of learning , an occupation requiring knowledge or skill or as the
conscious use of skill and creative imagination . This definition can also be widened to include a
branch of art known as performance art, where art is performed and experience live by an audience.
So, a legitimate question that is asked is what is arts purpose? Kevin Wilson s The Family Fang is
a novel that explores the life of a family dedicated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The early 1970 s, the period in which both pieces were preformed, saw the United States engaged
in a violent conflict in Vietnam with protests and demonstrations sometimes being put down
with force. Political unrest was visible especially among young artists. These young artists were
at the center of this resistance and used their art to make their views known. The work in the
novel has the added nuance of actually taking place on a university campus. Author Kathy O
Dell remarks that she knew that the Vietnam War was one of the reasons Burden pushed himself
to such physical and phycological limits (O Dell xii) in his performances. In the novel, Caleb
and Hobart seem concerned most of all with creating art that is noteworthy and meaningful
(Wilson 186). One of the most noteworthily things that can be done with their art is to create
something with a political message behind it. In the novel, this message is not explicitly stated,
it is more clear in the real life version of the act. In 2005, Burden explained certain aspects of his
original 1971 performance. He says all of a sudden U.S. troops were shooting at protesting
students... all of a sudden it [the violence] ... took on another dimension . He took the social unrest
and unease he saw around him and used his art as a platform to start a conversation around the war
in Vietnam and the prevalence of violence in general. These

Essay On Fibroids In African American Women
On the case of vitamin D, women of African American origin tend to be deficient of this vitamin.
According to Donna Day Baird Eds (2017), a research conducted on women aged between 35 49
showed that women of the African American origin had a higher percent of women with vitamin D
deficiency (90%). The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Uterine Fibroid Study
carried out the study.
The living conditions of most African Americanwomen are not inviting. Most studies conducted on

It has been observed that African American women tend to procrastinate visiting a gynecologist
for fibroids checkup. It is estimated that 32% of women of this race tend to wait about five years
to seek medical attention in comparison to 17% of the white women (HealthDay, n.d.). A theory
behind waiting is due to the normalization of systems. For example according to Dr. Newsome,
having fibroids is almost considered normal among AA women. AA Women develop fibroids at a
younger age and have more symptoms and therefore it is difficult to know what is unacceptable
or not when your a black girl who s has a 10 day period like your mom, aunts and cousins.
These methods, though very crucial and very expensive, require a professional gynecologist who
can perform a thorough pelvic exam. The most common method of diagnosis is the ultrasound. This
is a method that, as its name suggests, uses sounds of very high frequency to obtain a diagnosis of
the uterus. The sounds produced an image of the uterus and which can be observed on a screen.
From the screen, the internal organs and the fibroids, if present, can be observed. If the clarity of
the images is not good, a transvaginal ultrasound can be used. This is a method that uses a device
that is inserted into the vagina to produce clearer images. The proximity of this device to the uterus
enables it to produce much clearer images.
A third method is an x ray is one of the most common methods of producing images of

William Blake Exaggeration
William Blake and William Wordsworth both write about London in their poems. Composed Upon
Westminster bridge and London both portray London differently during the industrial revolution.
Blake writes about the negative aspects of London while Wordsworth on the other hand writes
about the positive aspects of London. Although these poems portray London differently, they do so
by the use of similar methods. The methods they use to portray London are exaggeration, use of the

Both William Blake and William Wordsworth use exaggeration to describe London during the

12). In this line William Blake is exaggerating the soldier s sigh because it didn t really run in
blood down the palace walls. In order illustrate the positive aspects of London during industrial
revolution; wordsworth uses exaggeration in the opening line of his poem. Earth has not anything
to show more fair (1). In this line blake uses exaggeration to illustrate how captivated he is at the
sunrise.
This proves my point because through the use of exaggeration William Blake and William
Wordsworth were able to show london in two different perspectives.
Blake uses the five senses to help the reader picture how filthy London is in his poem.
Wordsworth on the other hand, uses the five senses to help the reader picture how beautiful
London is in his poem. In order to help his audience comprehend how filthy london is, william
blake uses some of the five senses. He illustrates this well through the use of hearing. A strong
example of this can be found in line thirteen: But most, through midnight streets I hear (13). Sound
really makes a difference in our lives and he uses that to paint a clearer picture of how he perceives
London. William Wordsworth uses the

April 2nd Chainsaw Reflection
Out of the chapters we ve read this week, chapter April 2nd Chainsaw drew my interest the most.
The author was very unpleased with the maintenance crew cutting and bulldozing unwanted trees
from the edge of the golf course. Instead of putting the cut down trees to any good use, they
decided to just dumped them off the cliff, but what they didn t know is that these trees will provide
extra salamander habitat. So that s a cool pro out of a con. With maintenance cutting down these
trees, many inhabitants will be destroyed in the process which would take decades to recover.
Reading the April 2nd Chainsaw influenced me to think about how I use natural resources in the
future. In other words, how could I be more sustainable with the lifestyle

Socratic Christian Philosophy David Talcott Analysis
While reading the article Socratic Christian Philosophy, I have come to the conclusion that
Socrates knows much about how to follow a god and how not sway away from his beliefs, but his
arrogance and god like personality come in the way of that because at some points it seems as
though Socrates believes he is as high as god. David Talcott, the author of this article, even
mentions that he believes that Socrates may have a gift which makes him as divine as god. Talcott
suggests that Socrates knows a lot about that Christian philosophybefore it was even created but I
believe how Socrates goes about presenting this information is a problem because he seems too
arrogant. For example, in the Apology, Socrates says he believes poets are not wise... Show more

This voice is not a part of Socrates thinking process but rather a voice bestowed onto him by the
gods and even if it was a part of his mental process, it is still a gift from a greater power. Talcott
also brings up the point that once Socrates receives instructions from god he will follow it
through completely like when he went on the mission to prove he was not the wisest of all men
as god said he was and he interrogated all of the wise men he could think of until coming up with
the conclusion that they are not wise which ended up being one of the reasons he was subjected to
death. Socrates obeys god no matter where it leads him and believes that it is better to harm
yourself rather than to harm others because when you harm others you are also ruining your soul in
the process which is a belief shown in many branches of Christianity. Socrates believing he speaks
to a god is problematic because it makes him believe that he is higher than all other beings which
ends up with him judging others based on what he believes is wise or not

Encryption and Its Uses in Communication
Encryption is a very important aspect of our daily lives. Everywhere we go and everything we
do now involves some sort of encryption technology. From turning on our cars to using a card
access to gain entry to our workplace, encryption is there. More specifically, encryption in
communication is a vital component to everyday life. Without encryption, our lives would be
much different and unsecure. According to Oded Goldreich (2004), There are 2 main types of
encryption: One is called Symmetric key and the other is public key encryption (pp 375 376). The
Symmetric key algorithm uses the same cipher for both encryption and decryption. Conversely, the
public key algorithm requires 2 separate keys. One of these keys encrypts the text or... Show more

Even common household devices such as refrigerators now have WiFi access. Thermostats also
can be controlled via the internet now. As you can see, technology is ever evolving and
growing. It doesn t seem to be slowing down at all. Encryption is a great tool that is protection
the assets of many companies. Referring back to an access card, companies rely on these to
protect their buildings from unwanted access. Encryption definitely protects digital assets too.
Many software products that we use are protected by a license or authentication key. This key is
a special encrypted phrase that grants access to the software. It can prevent people from stealing
software without paying for it. While some companies are viewed as being greedy, in all
honesty it does cost time and money to develop software and products that people want to buy.
These products need to be secured in the interest of the company because it is in human nature to
be dishonest, disloyal, and to be a thief in many cases. Going back almost ten years, companies
were looking for ways to prevent game stealing. A pioneer in the gaming industry, Valve, took
action by suspending 20,000 users who had stolen their software (GameSpot). While this was an
example of how encryption was used to catch thieves, encryption can also be used to prevent
unauthorized access. This is the case in many industries such as the

Florentine notary Ser Piero was a well respected man who owned estate nearby Vinci. The mother

into his father s estate when he was about five years old. The artist was raised by his stepmothers
and his father on the estate. Leo had very little formal education with writing, reading, and

7 Wastes
Elimination of muda
Muda is a traditional general Japanese term for activity that is wasteful and doesn t add value or
is unproductive or not useful in practice or others. It is also a key concept in the Toyota
Production System (TPS) and is one of the three types of waste (Muda, Mura, Muri) that it
identifies. Mura signifies wastes due to unevenness and muri signifies wastes due to overburden.
Waste as defined by Toyota s president, Fujio Cho, is anything other than the minimum amount of
equipment, materials, parts and workers which are absolutely essential to production . The seven
types of wastes identified are
1.Overproduction Waste due to producing before customer requires or more than needed which

Over refining adds no value to the customer. Good designs should reduce analyzing, testing,
inspecting and validating. Designs should be kept as simple as possible.
Excess inventory leads to additional costs. Designs should favor just in time production. There
should be no stockpiling of raw materials and parts.
Designs have bearing on the number of defects in production. If designs can be assembled
incorrectly, chances of defects increase. Missing, unclear or incorrect designs lead to defects. High
precision designs lead to lower yields and higher defects. Design should also meet the customer
requirements. Review
People often start using lean production tools without understanding their impacts on the waste
reduction. Value stream mapping can be used to recognize the wastes in the system. Value stream
is a network of steps from beginning to end that provides the result for the customer. Some
activities add value while others do not. All non value adding activities are wastes. Tools like value
stream mapping and 5S need to be linked with waste reduction.
There is a growing trend to increase the number of wastes. The original muda concept had 7 wastes
overproduction, waiting time, transportation, inventory, over processing, motion, product defect
wastes. Because of its inherent simplicity people feed the need to improve it and add various other
wastes like complexity and unused people skills.

Minimum Wage and the Effect of Unemployment in the Low Skilled Sector
The Federal government mandates laws to help protect and serve the people of the United States of
America. Citizens always have a say in the matter with the influence of their vote or by letting their
Congressional representatives know of their support or anger of the current policies. One of the
most recent concerns is that of the minimum wage and its ability to provide a living for the workers

Social Information Processing Analysis
Theory of Social Information Processing:
A Theoretical Application
Nicholas McCann
Kennesaw State University Application of the Theory of Social Information Processing
In 1992 Joseph Walther developed the idea of social information processing which is an
interpersonal communication theory that describes how individuals establish relationships with
one another through a computer mediated environment and how they can progress and manage the
relationships while using an online medium or channel (Van Der Heide, Walther, 2009). Social
information processing theory can be applied to various forms of media such as computers, phones,

(Wang et al, 2009). The social information processing research on aggression have two broad issues
that must be addressed the regard of how both morals and aggression play apart in interpersonal
communication. The first has to do with the ways general systems or structures of social
knowledge are defined (Nucci, 2004). The second has to do with the relationships between general
systems of knowledge and the specific procedural knowledge, known as scripts, employed to direct
specific actions in context (Nucci, 2004). Because of these issues, moral development and

Transportation sector contributes to a considerable share of energy consumption and
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. In 2015, 50% of world oil consumption was
consumed for road transportation [1]. In 2014, 35% of energy was used in the transportation
sector (21% of world energy consumption was used in passenger cars) [1]. In 2010, about 14%
of worldwide GHG emissions was from the transportation sector [2]. The share of the
transportation sector in a country s GHG emissions varies among the countries all over the world.
For instance, in the US, the transportation sector is a major contributor to GHG emissions and

This is a notable point especially for countries that have a high percent of emission free
electricity generation capacity and can use that emission free electricity to provide the energy
needed in the transportation sector. To cut CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050 (as decided by G8
leaders and the European Union in 2009), a 95% carbon emission reduction should happen in
transport sector [6]. However, based on the expected number of passenger cars by 2050 and
knowing the emissions and efficiency of ICEVs, the reduction target for transportation sector
cannot be achieved through an increase in efficiency of ICEVs alone [6]. Knowing this limit,

ethanol, hydrogen, natural gas, or propane are considered as alternative fuels in this definition [8].
In this work, we are focusing on reviewing the incentives for vehicles that operate on hydrogen and
electricity as an alternative fuel. We are not considering biodiesel and ethanol as there is
uncertainty about the capability of biofuels to fuel the transportation sector at large scale [6]. We

Kneeling During The National Anthem Should Not Be Allowed
Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed
Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to disrespect their
country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is
unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community, and is also bad publicity. This has caused
people to protest the NFL by doing things such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the
anthem has caused a huge controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the
attention of adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting more
focus on politics.
First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest country in the
world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and the right to pursue a life of
happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football players will still disrespect our Anthem.
This problem has gotten so big that even our president has had strong words concerning the issue.
President Trump has taken to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it
should be illegal and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being
said, there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Some coaches do not allow
players to stand alone, like Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead these players they hide

Inaccuracies In The Waiting Room
Documentaries like The Waiting Room are an accurate representation of the field most of the
health science students want to go into. Watching this documentary makes you take a step back
and evaluate how you have treated people if you have even been in a situation where you had to
make a trip to the ER. Documentaries like this are made to expand the public s views of medicine
and the medical field, and to also show the struggles the employees in this field face.
In many dramatic medical television shows you never see the struggle to fit everyone into the
hospital. The lack of beds in The Waiting Room results in patients being put into the hallways.
This leads to congestion in the ER, and makes all of the employees lives just a little bit harder.
The lack of beds is also being influenced by the influx of people coming into the ER. The more
people coming into the ER, for things that someone with insurance would go to a doctor for, takes
up beds. Not that that is the sole reason for there being a lack of beds but it is certainly one of them.
Majority of people, with insurance or not, treat the ER like a urgent care, or a well clinic. That is

Exploration For A New Route
In one such exploration for a new route to Asia, the VOC in 1609 employed Henry Hudson, an
Englishman, to locate the legendary Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans.
The VOC had hoped that it would provide a safer and quicker route instead of having to pass
through the Cape of Good Hope or going around the tip of South of America. While Hudson
never did discover the supposed Northwest Passage, he did explore a vast area of modern day
northern US and Canada. These explorations gained the VOC a foothold in North America as they
established trading posts in 1614 at Manhattan and Albany; however these posts were only half
heartedly promoted. Nonetheless, the VOC participated in the slave trade by establishing a route...

Japanese permitted trade with the Dutch was because the Dutch were only interested in the

Furthermore, William Adams, who worked for the Dutch, had travelled to Japan before the start of
their isolation and became an advisor to Ieyasu, the head of the Japanese government. Due to these
two reasons when Japan closed its borders off to the outside world, the Dutch were one of the three

Life Of Pi Reality Vs Reality Essay
The novel Life of Pi is all about discerning between fact and belief. But which is reality? Yann
Martel, the author of the text, declares that reality is an interpretation, a choice of readings, a
choice of stories. The definition of reality, therefore, is not events which actually occur, but what is
real to an individual. Every person has a different reality, shaped by their experiences, beliefs,
interpretations, readings and stories. In other words, you choose your reality.
In Life of Pi, Pi is always searching for the better story . While Pi is describing agnostics, he
proclaims that they lack imagination and miss the better story (Martel 64) in life. He later inquires
of the men interviewing him, Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without
animals? (Martel 317) after recounting two versions of his 227 days at sea. The better story is the
story which opens up the mind, the story which provides you with a new way of observing the
world. Being able to see the better story is an act of interpretation and creation. It is how we view
the world and generate meaning from it. In this case, the better story becomes your reality because
it is what is real to you. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Captains of Industry
American society is constantly evolving and changing, but has been consistently shaped by the
American economy. The American dream of rags to riches drove production and allowed for the
rapid rise of industry under the theory of Social Darwinism. The ideas of vertical integration,
horizontal integration, and monopoly led to the expansion of railroads, the use of kerosene from
refined oil to light homes, and the American domination of the steel industry. These recently
introduced concepts and their repercussions are indebted to the businessmen who sought to
manipulate and dominate the industry. Despite beginnings in poverty, determination and innovation
led Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefellerto become not only captains of industry in their own
time, but also legacies of American success. Though very different in personality, Rockefeller
and Carnegie were raised under similar circumstances and shared similar convictions in regard
to poverty. Growing up in Dunfermline, Scotland, Carnegie experienced the life of the working
poor first hand (Andrew Carnegie PBS). His father was a weaver, and the industrial revolution
that would later correlate directly with Carnegie s success destroyed his father s trade (Andrew

The Chinese Film Shaolin Directed By Benny Chan
Buddha be praised, as many monks said after the passing of one s life (Shaolin, 00:03:00). The
Chinese Film Shaolin directed by Benny Chan tells a story of a historical event that was based
on a true story, but warped a little in order to fit the time period of today. Monks are considered
high class in the Chinese clan system, while those of a refugee status are no more than mere pigs

Single Life And Single Marriage Is Better To Be Single
Over the years there have been many studies that prove there are many health benefits to being
married. There are differences and advantages between single life and married life. Physical health
and mental health are areas of concern regarding married couples and singles. Some studies have
shown that overall happily married couples have better healthwhile singles have several risk
factors. More freedom may come from being single while being married provides greater
security and far better health. For your health s sake is it better to be married or remain single?
Consistent research and studies have been conducted which show that being married is good for
your heart health and overall health. Married couples that are in a happy intimate relationship
have a lower chance of cardiovascular disease compared to single people. Couples in a bad marriage
are often stressed which can lead to cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and many other
health problems. Singles are at a greater risk for cardiovascular disease, autoimmune conditions
and depression because they don t always have emotional or physical support. Doctors believe
emotional, physical and strong family ties will lower blood Khoulban 2 pressure and maintain a
healthy heart. One of the few advantage singles have is the time to exercise and take care of
themselves to aide in being healthy. Married couples don t have the same freedom because of
their obligation to their family. Most married couples both are working which prevents from
exercise. But overall marriage makes you healthier because of the health benefits, mental health

How Can Remedy Of Eco Labeled Products So That They Match...
In this section, I will explain how we can remedy each of the causes in the previous section in
order to close the green gap . By finding possible solutions to these causes I will discuss possible
ways to increase purchases of eco labeled products so that they match consumers survey results and
intent.
A commonly discussed solution would be to internalize the price of environmental degradation
into the price of all goods, so they are priced accurately. This would eliminate economic negative
externalities. This would increase the price of all goods, but it would increase the price of non
green products much more than eco labeled products, thus making eco friendly products the less
expensive product. Given that this paper is from the perspective of an individual marketer who
would not have the power to make this wide sweeping change, we are focusing on solutions to can
be practically implemented by marketers.
We can begin to close the gap by educating consumers about the benefits of eco labeled goods.
According the Ogilvy Earth, the marketing research firm, We need to simplify mental accounting
and translate the murky benefits of sustainability into something immediate and concrete (Bennett
and Williams 87). Many people don t see the effect these products have on the environment
because the effect is so far removed from their immediate lives. Right now the effects of eco
friendly products are a far off concept that don t hit close to home for consumers. Pope Francis

Indigenous Policy Making
Policy making can be a complicated process, from identifying issues that need to be addressed
right up to the evaluation stage to ensure that policy aims have been met. When determining
whether a case of policy making has been successful or not is thus difficult to pinpoint. This paper
will look into two cases of policymaking, the Strategic Indigenous Housing and Infrastructure
Program (SIHIP) established in 2007, as well as Australia s immigration policy towards asylum
seekers through Operation Sovereign Borders. By comparing both cases to the policy cycle model,
as put forth by Althaus et. al, this paper will then deduce whether the aforementioned cases have
been successful or not. Although there are many ways to analyse the process of... Show more

Up until this point, the SIHIP s overall policy design is sound; key issues have been identified,
more specific challenges have been deduced and analysed, and an appropriate (albeit ambitious)
proposal to combat the root issues has been put forth. It is when the policy cycle model is followed
onto the next stage of consultation that sees a deviation from producing an effective policy. The
use of external consultants, though being a reasonable tool to aid in ensuring community needs
were being met, was found to be over exhausted, and meant that the allocated budget for the project
was insufficient in order to actually construct and repair the proposed houses. Contributing to this
increase in costs was that the community response detailed that the proposed housing was
inadequate. This feedback was accepted and therefore included in SIHIP, resulting in the cost
increase from $450,000 per house to

Video Games Have Come A Long Way
Video games have come a long way since Pac Man hit arcades in 1980. In the last thirty plus
years, we have seen video games revolutionize art and entertainment. At first riding the coattails
of computer advancements, video games now drive technological progress in the search for
innovation and complete player immersion. Video games have started to go beyond the quest for
the best graphics. Games like Pokemon Go are pushing the bar and blurring the line between the
game and real life through augmented reality. Video games now give many people motivation in
life and allow for more human interaction in both the real and virtual world. In many ways, video
games are the human attempt to succeed where evolution has failed us. Evolution has equipped
humans with the ability to survive, but survival means something completely different nowadays.
We no longer need to hunt with our hands, hide away from predators, or scavenge for food. Our
landscape has changed from the wilds to the shopping mall. When the modern human faces the
situation of how do I speak to someone I find attractive? or delivery, dine in, or take out? As silly
as it may sound, these simple, specific examples are the type of problems that have replaced
predators and famine what mechanisms have humans gained from evolution to face these
problems? This is where technology and the future of video games come into play. To face the
modern world, humans will redefine what it means to be entertained, interact with

In 1914, the British government became the company s principle stockholder. While the company
was originally registered as the Anglo Persian Oil Company, Ltd; in response to the Persian
government voting to change its name to Iran in 1935, the company was renamed the Anglo Iranian
Oil Company, Ltd. Unfortunately, over the next couple Decades, sentiment in Iran began to turn
against the company. The Iranian government began to believe that they were being taken
advantage of, and that the British company was reaping profits at the expense of the Iranian people.
In 1951, due in part to these beliefs, the country elected Mohammed Mossedegh as Prime Minister,
who pushed to nationalize the holdings of the Anglo Iranian Oil Company. Later that year, Iran
voted on a bill nationalizing the oil company so that oil profits would then benefit Iran. The result
was an international boycott of Iran. Nationalization was not accepted by the British government
and their strategy consisted of no mediation, no compromise, no acceptance of nationalization of
any form. (CBS, 2010) The British withdrew their technicians, blocked the port, cut off exports to
Iran, and froze Iran s hard currency accounts in Britain. Finally, the British turned to the U.S.
government for assistance. Their assistance came in the form of a CIA operation to depose the

Thesis Statement On Capitalism And Capitalism
Introduction
Socialism and capitalism are two concepts that are used by governments in respective countries
regarding how the economies operate. The two concepts are based on political, economic and
social systems. The United States of America is an example of a capitalist country while Sweden is
a socialist nation. Apart from the similarity in which the government plays a role in the
effectiveness of the two systems, there is no discrimination in both systems regarding race, color or
other arbitrary classification. There are notable differences between the two systems based on
ownership structure, equity, and employment.

Brewery Essay
It was a busy evening at the brewery, and my double shift was coming to an end. I had arrived to
open the bar at 10 in the morning, and by now, I was more than ready to focus on what I needed
to leave. From the corner of my eye I could see a group of five enter the front door, and I hoped
that someone else would be asked to take the table. So I continued to polish the warm wine glasses
fresh out of the dishwasher. Hey Kyle, can you grab that table, the manager already cut all of the
servers?
The greeting of the table wasn t my usual perky and informative self. Rushing to get their drink

But, feeling sad is just the middle ground between two other emotions according to the textbook:
Interplay. First, you must be engaged in a deep conversation or thought, which they label as
pensive. Through the conversation in my story is when I began to feel sadness (the middle
ground), when I learned Mary s husband was in the hospital. After sadness, someone can enter a
feeling of grieving, which is the agony and distress felt from the pensive conversation and a feeling
of sorrow. In my experience with this story, I did not feel the grieving emotion. There are four
components which make up emotions: physiological changes, nonverbal reactions, cognitive
interpretations, and verbal expression. In the paragraphs that follow I will define each component
as it relates to my sadness during the story.
Firstly, physiological change is when, a person experiences strong emotions, many bodily changes
occur (Alder, 237). These bodily changes could be warmth, heartbeat, blood pressure, adrenaline,
and can even affect the digestive system. When happiness is experienced the blood pumps faster
and warms the entire body. However, sadness has almost the opposite reaction, causing the body s
limbs to cool. When Mary told me the news, I remember my mind and heart racing, this could ve
been the blood rushing to my torso and head.
Secondly, nonverbal reactions are when, feelings are apparent by observable changes to
appearance, such as a distinctive facial expression,

rife with humor and a wry sense of the unusual. Life after death is a serious subject...Here,
Collins deflates the gravity of the subject by poking fun at the ways in which people have
imagined the afterlife. Most people don t realize Billy Collin s level of fame, even though he
served twice as the US Poet Laureate and another two years as New York State Poet Laureate.
Another one of his many achievements is when he was titled the most popular poet in America
by Bruce Weber in the New York Times. Numerous other poet critics acknowledge Collin s poet
work and say astonishing remarks about his poetry. As said by poet Stephen Dunn, We seem to
always know where we are in a Billy Collins poem, but not necessarily where he is going. I love
to arrive with him at his arrivals. He doesn t hide things from us, as I think lesser poets do. He
allows us to overhear, clearly, what he himself he discovered . Even though humor is not popular
with everyone, he has the ability to connect with the reader. (www.encyclopedia.com ,

sun. This procedure is known commonly as photosynthesis; this is important as it relies on the
chlorophyll molecules in each chloroplast. (Studios, 2017)
Importance: Chloroplasts are the majority of the world s nourishment and fuel and oxygen supply,
and all things considered life on Earth relies on upon them. They are an important part of every
single photosynthetic cell in plants and algae. Chloroplasts are important because they are the site
of photosynthesis, from the absorption of light by chlorophyll through to the production of the

  • 2. Party Polarization Singer, Matthew. Elite Polarization and the Electoral Impact of Left Right Placements: Evidence from Latin America, 1995 2009. Latin American Research Review 51, no. 2 (April 2016): 174. MasterFILE Premier, EBSCOhost (accessed December 12, 2016). The research article developed an idea of party polarization being an essential factor in the continuation and development of modern democracy. This is represented within graphic organizers of latin american countries that carry varying levels of party polarization that affect voter belief and direction. Singer utilized legislative surveys to find voter placement and how differentiated the chosen party was from an ideological norm in a specific country. He also found that in poorer countries current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The period between the civil war and World War two were seen to carry a more centralized policy agenda between the two parties. Since World War two, the author concluded that the ideologies have split very quickly, and that is because of the lack of the Southern Democrats in this century. The author saw this as a problem, because hostility between the parties is on a continuous climb. Growing aggressiveness between the parties is negative, because the parties will have a much more difficult time coming to a conclusion on how to agree on things, in this author s ... • 3. Alain Locke s The New Negro Though times have changed, Alain Locke tries to convey that meaning into many of his writings. Alain Locke has been an activist for the many years of the Harlem Renaissance. He spoke forward about how the ancestors of African American referred as the Old Negros and the newer generation referred to as the New Negros took different outlooks on life. American Negros goal in life at this point in time was to change their mentality. But how? Locke had introduced many readers to the vibrant wondrous world of African Americans. He opened the eyes to what American Negros can do and not what they cannot do, no one should be restricted by any boundaries. One of his most influential writings was Enter the New Negro , its open the mind of those who have come across it. The treatment of African Americans seemed as it has changed from the 1920 to the 1930s but mistreatment still remained. At this time African Americanneeded to convey the images left behind by their ancestors into something greater to please and uphold their legacy, not the legacy of themselves but a legacy for the African American community altogether. Locke speaks of the mistreatment when he states; The Negro, too, for his part, has idols of the tribe to smash. If on the one hand the white man has erred in making the Negro appear to be that which would excuse or extenuate his treatment of him, the Negro, in turn, has too often unnecessarily excused himself because of the way he has been treated. • 4. Lady Windermere s Fan Essay Morality of the Upper Class in Oscar Wilde s Lady Windermeres Fan Lady Windermere s Fan is a witty commentary on the wiles of social properness in late 19th century England. Oscar Wilde was a flamboyant homosexual understandably critical of the norms of his day. Within the play, lie subtle and overt contradictions about the properness of the high born upper class. During the Victorian period, strict rules governed mannerisms, protocol, etiquette, decency, etc. This decorum became too oppressive for Wilde s taste. The morality of the upper class is supposedly the standard of the day, to which everyone is evaluated. However, in this play, the morality of the main characters pivots more on the situation instead of social status.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Notice, they are also the smallest of the three layers. Just like in real life! As far as the caliber of acting, it was superb. (I didn t expect to like it as much as I did!) The timing of mannerisms was tight and abrupt, as well as the speech. To prevent talking over one another, the characters had to have precise cuing from the other actors. The Duchess of Berwick STOLE the show. She s the most colorful character and most vital to the understanding of the conflict. She dictates her role very well within an embellished gown of supremacy. She has to intersect the other characters paths at just the right time. She also has to use a lot of facial expressions to convey her character s way of over emphasizing her opinions. Her animations are overstated like a true snobby aristocrat. Traci Scott is magnificent! In fact, if you take her out of the play, the whole thing becomes so lackluster. In fact, the other characters seem purposely insipid to show how much fun, or interesting at best, a little scandal can be. The scenery was simple and purposeful. This is functional in that the eye is not distracted from the intended focus: the characters dialogue. Yes, the setting is important, but not to overshadow the conflict(s) at hand. Some reviews described a mediocre delivery based on the dull scenery. Who cares? The richness comes from the plot itself and the witty presentation, not what flowers are in the vase! The scenery is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Puerto Rico Imperialism The international perception of Puerto Rico as an American colony a failed economy or a misunderstood predicament of colonization Since the end of the Spanish American War in 1898 the United States has proclaim the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico under United States territory. Spain handed Puerto Rico over to the United States as spoil of war and to liquidate its war debts. To this day, the political, economic, and cultural impact of the occupation and subsequent annexation of Puerto Rico as an unincorporated territory remains subject to controversy and debate. The real polemic of this idea resides on the influence of the United States to held full responsibility for military, monetary, and foreign affairs. The Popular Democratic Party, led by Luis MuГ±oz MarГn, and the United States in 1952 adopted Puerto Rico s current Commonwealth status as a global wave of decolonization. Even if this create the local government and the Constitution that will always be subject to be veto from Congress. • 6. Descriptive Essay About Country Often when the word country is brought up, people think of big trucks, the song Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean, taking a four wheeler through the mud, and sometimes even a confederate flag. However, country can not be bought at a store. It s something to be born with. Country isn t just a bunch of dumb rednecks, as it is normally associated with. Country runs much deeper. To me, Country is a way of life that makes yourself work the hardest you can, love the most you can, and create memories in the great outdoors that can never be forgotten. One of my favorite songs of all time comes from Luke Bryan; That s What Country is . In the song, Bryan says It aint a rebel flag you bought at the mall it s a hide away bed in an old horse stall, two kids getting caught stealing a Boones Farm kiss. This is my favorite verse because Bryan takes the highly thought belief that country is defined by rebel flags and simply says that it is not true. Instead of a confederate flag labeling country, country is two kids making memories that they will never forget (Even thought it might not be completely legal). Later in the verse, Bryan says It aint a John Deere cap that s never fell in the cotton, it s a Jimmie Rodgers song that was long forgotten. Its homemade peach ice cream on sunburnt lips, that s what country is. This relates to me directly. Every year my family and I will go out to the strip of apple trees on the farm, pick the apples, peel them, and my dad cooks up applesauce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is Oedipus Role In Greek Society Crossroads, and hidden glade, oak and the narrow way at the crossroads, that drank my father s blood offered you by my hands, do you remember still what I did as you looked on, and what I did when I came here? (Oedipus Rex, 1575 1580) Precisely placed at the crossroads of fate and autonomy, Oedipus struggles to define what is fate in his life, and what is left to his own discretion, challenging the common thoughts of Greek Society. Transcending thousands of years, this question, often posed within the context of this play, comes to light in high school classrooms across America. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowledge is gained through exposure to new ideas. By allowing oneself to bemuse vulnerability to a school of thought different than of what is accustomed, then new information is assimilated, adapted, interpreted, and accepted. Though Sophocles explores many themes throughout his prose such as fate and free will, knowledge and power, and wisdom, one theme that came new to the Greek was the power of determination to rise above circumstances. Greek culture celebrated the achievement of mankind. They were always on the cunning edge of human innovation. Greece was the Apple of the day. However, Sophocles challenges this idea in Greek society by showing they determination might not always produce the desired end result. In Oedipus case, his determination cost him his sight, as well as banishment from the kingdom. Essentially, he is sending is subliminal yet profound message posed in a state of questioning to Greek Society; he asks them to what extent is the progress made beneficial, and to when is the threshold broken for the advancement to become detrimental behavior. Throughout the play, Sophocles does not fully answer, or really even attempt to answer the dilemma he poses, he merely addresses the question, and shows the disastrous consequences and ramifications that come with blind determination. He kneeled next to him, and according to some people Snyder s last words to Reed where I am to blame . Reed had to be punished for killing Snyder. Some men suggested that Reed should get shot for doing what he did. Ms Reed and Eddy didn t want this. So they came up with a compromise. Reeds was to get kicked out the company without any firearms. The next day Mr. Reed left on horseback leaving his wife and children. Even though Reeds got banished from the company, it did more good to the company than bad. Reeds didn t have to carry such a large load across the deserts and mountains. He was able to travel faster than the rest and reach California to send back help. The company also had one less mouth to feed. Even though it was basically a death sentence sending him off with no weapons, either Ms. Reeds or Eddy caught up with him the night he left and gave him a pistol. Without the pistol he wouldn t have been able to hunt for food or protect himself from Indians that would want to harm him. Mr Reeds became an enormous help once the winter came. Since he was able to travel faster he was able to escape the danger of the coming winter. Before the first snow fall he had already reached California and was planning a return party to help his family and the rest of the party. He knew that they weren t doing so well. At present, the most commonly PV technology is crystalline silicon cells. This is powerful and stable PV technology. However, its potential of cost reduction is strongly limited, with the high cost with silicon wafer. Recently thin film solar cells as a substitute for traditional crystalline silicon cells, it has up to 21.5 percent of the photoelectric conversion efficiency, while its production cost is only one third of the crystalline silicon cells or even one third [2]. And recently, there are several commonly used solar modules, such as CdTe solar cells, n i p a Si:H solar cells,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And Darmstadt Integrated System for SOLarcell research(DAISY SOL) was used to determine the thin film deposition of the CdS and CdTe individually. And the CdS deposition was double layer structure, the first layer was deposited at high temperature in range of 520 to 540 В°C, while the second layer was deposited at 250 В°C. And for the CdTe layer, was deposited under vacuum condition, in order to minimize the likelihood of pinhole formation. And it also formed 2 layers under 490 530 В°C and 350 В°C individually [2]. Dektak profilometer was used to measure the film thickness. And the thickness is the total thickness of the double layer structure CdTe films. The data samples were modules with thickness ranging from 0.5 to 3Ојm. Aside from that, the CdCl2 annealing treatment was applied under 385 В°C with saturated CdCl2 in methanol. • 11. The Bible By The Poisonwood Bible Midterm Movies and books about missionaries haven t portrayed missionaries in a positive light. Fiction writers and movie producers have led people on to believe, that missionaries are self serving and as having specific intentions. One of the prime examples of misrepresenting a missionary; is the book called The Poisonwood Bible. I had to read The Poisonwood Bible in an English class. The Poisonwood Bible is the story of a missionary named Nathan Price and his family. Nathan was Reverend and he was mean to his wife and children. Nathan and his family lived in the Congo. He was disrespectful to his wife and his children were terrified of him. I remember reading the book thinking, how does he represent God? Missionaries are sent out to cross cultural barriers and spread the gospel. Missionaries are not sent too foreign countries to destroy or to break the people down. Missionaries have faced scrutiny, because of the negative of missionaries in movies and in books. There some positive movies made about missionaries. Jesus was the perfect missionary. Jesus went to different places and taught the word of God. Jesus drew people unto him. Jesus told his disciples, that if they follow him, he would make them fishermen of men. Jesus taught anywhere. Jesus delivered the word so profoundly. Jesus was from the lineage of Abraham. God made a covenant with Abraham to make him the father of many nations. Avoidance results in resolution being delayed rather than resolving the issue in a timely manner (Eason Brown, 1999). The ill feelings between PCTs and nurses were created by avoiding talking about the problem for a long time. Avoidance resulted in a snowball effect of increasing resentment and anger between the two groups. Conflict Transformational Theory Solving conflict using the transformational theory is beneficial. According to Chinn (2008), using the conflict transformation theory, the conflict transformation is used before there is a conflict. Any rising issue is addressed in a constructive way, paying attention to possible lessons learned (Chinn, 2008). Using the transformational theory would have prevented the bad feelings towards each other. It is not one person s responsibility to try to resolve a conflict (Chinn, 2008). If transformational theory were used in the described situation, the problem would have been addressed much earlier. Management would have called for a meeting where everybody would have had a chance to voice their problem according to the transformational steps and theory described below. As a disagreement arises, the group follows specific steps to come to a solution. Chinn (2008), describes four steps of critical reflection. Art can be interpreted in many ways by those who view it, it can take many forms and its purpose is not always clear. The way art is defined is just as broad. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as a branch of learning , an occupation requiring knowledge or skill or as the conscious use of skill and creative imagination . The early 1970 s, the period in which both pieces were preformed, saw the United States engaged in a violent conflict in Vietnam with protests and demonstrations sometimes being put down with force. Political unrest was visible especially among young artists. These young artists were at the center of this resistance and used their art to make their views known. The work in the novel has the added nuance of actually taking place on a university campus. Author Kathy O Dell remarks that she knew that the Vietnam War was one of the reasons Burden pushed himself to such physical and phycological limits (O Dell xii) in his performances. In the novel, Caleb and Hobart seem concerned most of all with creating art that is noteworthy and meaningful (Wilson 186). One of the most noteworthily things that can be done with their art is to create something with a political message behind it. In the novel, this message is not explicitly stated, it is more clear in the real life version of the act. In 2005, Burden explained certain aspects of his original 1971 performance. He says all of a sudden U.S. troops were shooting at protesting students... all of a sudden it [the violence] ... took on another dimension . He took the social unrest and unease he saw around him and used his art as a platform to start a conversation around the war in Vietnam and the prevalence of violence in general. These ... Composed Upon Westminster bridge and London both portray London differently during the industrial revolution. Blake writes about the negative aspects of London while Wordsworth on the other hand writes about the positive aspects of London. Although these poems portray London differently, they do so by the use of similar methods. The methods they use to portray London are exaggeration, use of the five senses, and personification. Both William Blake and William Wordsworth use exaggeration to describe London during the industrial revolution. In London , William blake uses exaggeration to illustrate the negative aspects of London during the industrial revolution. On the other hand, Wordsworth uses exaggeration in his poem to illustrate the positive aspects of London during the industrial revolution to illustrate the negative aspects of London blake uses exaggeration in lines eleven through twelve in his poem; And the hapless soldier s sigh runs in blood down palace walls (11 12). In order illustrate the positive aspects of London during industrial revolution; wordsworth uses exaggeration in the opening line of his poem. Earth has not anything to show more fair (1). In this line blake uses exaggeration to illustrate how captivated he is at the sunrise. This proves my point because through the use of exaggeration William Blake and William Wordsworth were able to show london in two different perspectives. Blake uses the five senses to help the reader picture how filthy London is in his poem. Wordsworth on the other hand, uses the five senses to help the reader picture how beautiful London is in his poem. In order to help his audience comprehend how filthy london is, william blake uses some of the five senses. He illustrates this well through the use of hearing. Kneeling During The National Anthem Should Not Be Allowed Kneeling During the National Anthem Should Not be Allowed Although NFL athletes are a huge figure in America today, they still choose to disrespect their country by kneeling during the National Anthem. I believe kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic, separate s teammates and the community, and is also bad publicity. This has caused people to protest the NFL by doing things such as burning their season tickets. Kneeling during the anthem has caused a huge controversial issue that is impacting many. This has not only caught the attention of adults but also children. The NFL is now losing its focus on football and putting more focus on politics. First off, kneeling during the National Anthem is unpatriotic. This is the greatest country in the world. It gives everyone who comes here an opportunity in life, and the right to pursue a life of happiness. It is crazy to think Americas finest football players will still disrespect our Anthem. This problem has gotten so big that even our president has had strong words concerning the issue. President Trump has taken to twitter multiple times saying how unpatriotic it is. Also, how it should be illegal and players who are choosing to kneel should leave the NFL. With that being said, there are still NFL players who stand in support of the Anthem. Watching this documentary makes you take a step back and evaluate how you have treated people if you have even been in a situation where you had to make a trip to the ER. Documentaries like this are made to expand the public s views of medicine and the medical field, and to also show the struggles the employees in this field face. In many dramatic medical television shows you never see the struggle to fit everyone into the hospital. The lack of beds in The Waiting Room results in patients being put into the hallways. This leads to congestion in the ER, and makes all of the employees lives just a little bit harder. The lack of beds is also being influenced by the influx of people coming into the ER. The more people coming into the ER, for things that someone with insurance would go to a doctor for, takes up beds. Exploration For A New Route In one such exploration for a new route to Asia, the VOC in 1609 employed Henry Hudson, an Englishman, to locate the legendary Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans. The VOC had hoped that it would provide a safer and quicker route instead of having to pass through the Cape of Good Hope or going around the tip of South of America. While Hudson never did discover the supposed Northwest Passage, he did explore a vast area of modern day northern US and Canada. While the Dutch West India Companytook part in the typically less profitable aspects of Dutch Trade, the VOC was turning enormous profits all across the East Indies and Asia. The VOC were the only Europeans allowed to conduct trade with Japan throughout their isolation during the Edo period (1603 1868). The VOC were only permitted to trade at the designated port, Dejima, on the island of Nagasaki and there were only ever a select few allowed to come temporary onto the mainland. One of the reasons why the Japanese permitted trade with the Dutch was because the Dutch were only interested in the acquiring of Japanese silver and copper, not incorporating Dutch ideologies and culture onto Japan. Furthermore, William Adams, who worked for the Dutch, had travelled to Japan before the start of their isolation and became an advisor to Ieyasu, the head of the Japanese government. Yann Martel, the author of the text, declares that reality is an interpretation, a choice of readings, a choice of stories. The definition of reality, therefore, is not events which actually occur, but what is real to an individual. Every person has a different reality, shaped by their experiences, beliefs, interpretations, readings and stories. In other words, you choose your reality. In Life of Pi, Pi is always searching for the better story . While Pi is describing agnostics, he proclaims that they lack imagination and miss the better story (Martel 64) in life. He later inquires of the men interviewing him, Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals? (Martel 317) after recounting two versions of his 227 days at sea. The better story is the story which opens up the mind, the story which provides you with a new way of observing the world. Being able to see the better story is an act of interpretation and creation. • 40. Captains of Industry American society is constantly evolving and changing, but has been consistently shaped by the American economy. The American dream of rags to riches drove production and allowed for the rapid rise of industry under the theory of Social Darwinism. The ideas of vertical integration, horizontal integration, and monopoly led to the expansion of railroads, the use of kerosene from refined oil to light homes, and the American domination of the steel industry. These recently introduced concepts and their repercussions are indebted to the businessmen who sought to manipulate and dominate the industry. Despite beginnings in poverty, determination and innovation led Andrew Carnegie and John D. Though very different in personality, Rockefeller and Carnegie were raised under similar circumstances and shared similar convictions in regard to poverty. Growing up in Dunfermline, Scotland, Carnegie experienced the life of the working poor first hand (Andrew Carnegie PBS).
