Communication For Effective Leadership Communication
I have appreciated and enjoyed the opportunity to take Communication for Effective Leadership
over the last eight weeks. I have learned such valuable information pertaining to effective
communication inside and outside of the workplace that will be useful in my future endeavors. This
letter is intended as a summary of 3 areas of my own leadership communicationdevelopment that
have been enhanced during the course of this class.
The first element of my leadership communication that has been affected is my overall awareness
of the importance of understanding how important written and oral communication is in the
workplace. Prior to taking this course I did not understand that the most important skill in the
workplace was communication. I

Long Term Memory Encodes Essay
This study which was conducted in 1966; it was a study about encoding. This study was conducted
to conclude if long term memory encodes acoustically (based on sound) or if encodes semantically
(based on meaning). This is done by giving the participants word lists that are similar in sound and
/or their meaning; if the participants struggle to recall the words in order it suggests that the long
term memoryis confused by the similarity, this means that this is how long term memory encodes.
The first study that Baddeley conducted was that he gave participants four trials at learningthe order
of a list of words, he then used a 20 minute delay this was to remove the short term memory. The
participants were then asked to recall as many words as they could in the order they were in. He
compared their score in the 5th trial with the participants score in the 4th trial 20 minutes earlier
this was to determine how much the participants had forgotten. Baddeley accepted the fact that the
participants who had to remember words with similar meaning would find it harder than the
participants who had to remember words that rhymed. He understood this because he thought the
LTM (long term memory) worked by semantic encoding this means they would be confused by the
similarity in the meanings, however, not by the similarity of the sounds. Baddeley s results came
back to not be as he was expecting and he concluded that the participants STM (short term memory)
was helping out their LTM, with the two memory stores working together. To remove

His earlier experiments suggests STM encodes acoustically. This is why LTM gets confused when
it has to retrieve the order of words which are semantically similar; it gets distracted and muddles
up the semantically similarities. LTM has no problem with retrieving words that are acoustic
because LTM pays no attention to the way the words

Black Meat In Naked Lunch
Fats becomes completely normalized and ends up serving and morphing into the system, here
the system manifests itself as Black Meat (103). According to Naked Lunch, Black Meat is like
a tainted cheese, overpoweringly delicious and nauseating so that the eaters eat and vomit and
eat again until they fall exhausted (31). It has an addictive force that could be claimed to
symbolize the need to fit in the normal society. The act of eating until one is vomiting shows
how exhausting and painful it is to try and satisfy one s need to fit in where parts of you has to
be suppressed. This character becomes so absorb by the idea of servitude that he himself morphs
into a controlling mechanisms: he becomes the idea of constant surveillance (Foucault 201). This
claim can be argued as such due to the shape he morphs into. Large periscope eyes (103) stand as
a symbol for the central tower in the panopticon (Foucault 200), and his search for monkeys show
how power is always in search for the abnormal. The more abnormality Fats periscope eyes find,
the more the system has to expand. This manifesting itself in the growth of Fats who progressively

In the Coke Bugs chapter a young street boy has through his black scars of junk, retained a wild,
broken innocence: shy animals peering out through grey arabesques of terror (99). The junky
named The Sailor, who is a reappearing character throughout Naked Lunch, seduces the street
boy by appealing to the boy s inner desire. At first he reveals a hypodermic needle (99) after
which he says, [s]it down and have a blueberry crumb pie on the expense account. Your monkey
loves it... Make his coat glossy (99). The Sailor is not referring to the pie itself. With his subtle
revelation of his needle (99), he rather alludes to drugs. This is confirmed in the following chapter
of the novel called The Exterminator Does a Good

Unemployment Rate In Macroeconomics
Written by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, Macroeconomics states, In general, the
unemployment rate is a good indicator of how easy or difficult it is to find a job given the current
state of the economy (Krugman and Wells 219). A New York Times article, Strong Unemployment
News Bolsters Case for Fed to Raise Rates written by Reuters, talks about how unemployment rate
benefits are holding steady with a steady labor market and how job openings are rising, which is
encouraging the Federal Reserve to higher interest rates. As explained in Macroeconomics, by
Krugman and Wells interest rates refer to, The price, calculated as a percentage of the amount
borrowed , that lenders charge borrowers the use of their savings for one year (Krugman... Show

As explained in Macroeconomics, by Krugman and Wells, In structural unemployment, more
people are seeking jobs in a particular labor market than there are jobs available at the current
wage rate, even when the economy is at the peak of the business cycle (Krugman and Wells 227).
If the government believes that this is the case in which the unemployment rate will not continue
to decrease but instead rise, then the economy could face the costs of disinflation. The Christian
Science Monitor journalist Mike Tokars wrote, Sanders and O Malley: Raise Minimum Wage to
$15. Is it feasible which talks about how in the democratic debates on Saturday, November 14,
Bernie Sanders and Martin O Malley agreed that raising the Federal minimum wage to $15 would
be a stimulant to the economy and give the people of the United States more disposable income.
This article also shows that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton disagrees and suggests that
would create more job loss and a higher unemployment rate. If you look at the Republican side and
Democratic Hillary Clinton who is more conservative regarding economic policies this article
supports the notion that the Federal Reserve believes higher minimum wage will create structural
unemployment and will result in a higher unemployment rate over

Quotes From Blackberries
During Blackberries we see the boy grow into a young man, going from his first haircut, to being
alone, because of his parents fight. At the beginning we see the boy get his first haircut. Just an
ordinary cut please Mr. Fresnham, said the child s mother, and not too much off. I, my husband, and
I, we thought it was time for him to like like a little boy.(47) The author intentionally decided to
make the motherstumble when she talked about her husband. This was to foreshadow what will
happen in the future. We know that later in the story the boy s mother and father get into a huge
fight, and she stumbles when talking about a decision that she most likely made by herself or her
husband disagreed with. Later the boy s mother and father

Peter Pan Research Paper
He can fly! That quote was said by Wendy in the 1958 Peter Pan movie. Peter Pan is a great movie.
It is about a boy who will never grow up and lives in a long lost place called Neverland.. Peter Pan
is a classic, well known for his flying abilities, the joy he brings, and his jealous fairy friend
Tinkerbell. To add, Peter has a frightening enemy named Captain Hook, also known as Black Beard
in the new Pan movie that came out in 2015. Between the 1958 version and the 2015 reboot, I
prefer the 1958 Peter Panmovie because it s original. I m going to compare and contrast the
differences of both movies by its style and reviews.
Pan is our greatest warrior (Pan). In the new Pan movie there is a completely different style to
what the old Peter Pan movie used to be. In the new movie there is no singing. In addition, the
new movie was not animated, instead they used real actors. On the other hand, in the 1950 s the
Peter Pan movie had plenty of songs that they would sing. For example, in the movie they sing
What Makes the Red Man Red, and Jealous Girls ( Peter Pan Movie Review ). The movie was less
intense than the new movie because in the new movie there was a lot of ... Show more content on

Both of these movies can relate to each other because it has the same concept. In addition, to the
comparing and contrasting both movies I prefer the old movie because it is a classic and it was
a movie that I grew up with. I like the concept that Peter Pan was supposed to be an imagination
that came to life because Wendy and her two brothers believed in him. Not only that but both
movies have different scenes but are similar in a way because the directors tried to add the story
of the old movie. For instance, in the new movie Pan gets kidnapped by pirates at the orphanage
he was living in, but in the old 1950 s movie peter goes to Wendy s house and takes Wendy and her

How Did Edgar Allan Poe s Life Impact His Writing
Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe died in 1849 yet people still talk about his writing today. Poe s
life impacted his writing in many ways so his poems and stories are always very touching. He
had so many things happen in his life that inspired him to make his writing good and meaningful.
Love, death and alcoholism were all very meaningful in different ways to him. These things in
his life impacted his writing and also made his writing very intriguing. Edgars love for certain
people was stronger than anything. He loved his 2 mothers very much, one being his real
mother and the other being his adoptive mother. He did not have a very good connection with
men as well as he did with women because his mothers taught him everything and raised him to
be the man he was. A lot of his stories and poems were in memory of is mothers. Poe also had a
very very strong love for his wife Virginia. Virginia was very young but at the time age did not
matter. The way that Poe explains his love for her is a very unique and special way. Unfortunately
Poe s mother s and his wife Virginia passed away. Love lasts after death.... Show more content on

Almost every story and every poem of Poe s had something to do with death. The reason being is
he had dealt with so much death especially of loved ones in his life that it became a part of his
life story. He lost most of his loved ones due to tuberculosis. Both of his mothers and his wife
passed away due to this disease. Death kind of became a mystery to Poe because it happened so
often to the ones he loved. Death was always kind of dark and his stories and poems took place
in december at midnight. December is the darkest month if the year and midnight is the darkest
time of night so that time of year and day was just fir for death. Poe drank to take the pain away of

The Role Of Addie Wyatt In The Civil Rights Movement
African American women in the NAACP, the National Council of Negro Women, the National
Urban League, to name a few organizations, were very prominent in the civil rights era. They
sought Black women s full rights as women and as citizens, repeatedly insisting that women s
rights to good schools, jobs, and protection from physical and sexual assault were essential planks
in the black freedom struggle (Feminism Unfinished, 5). Addie Wyatt is an example of what the
average woman of color experienced in the job force after the war. Addie Wyatt was a leader in the
United States Labor movement, and a civil rights activist. Wyatt is known for being the first
African American woman to hold senior office in an American labor union, the United

How White Men Changed Okonkwo
How the white men changed Okonkwo I am going to be writing about how the commissioners
changed Okonkwo throughout the book Things Fall Apart. I will be explaining the 3 changes I
think Okonkwo was going through because of the commissioners and missionaries when they
came to their land. The first change, was when Okonkwo found out that Nwoye converted to a
Christian and became apart of the missionaries. The second change was when Okonkwo came
back to Umuofia and he seen how his whole clan was taken over my the white men. The third
change I felt Okonkwo went through was when Okonkwo realized that his clan was taken over and
there was nothing he could do about it. It all started when the came to their land asking to build a

Comparing The Five Faithful Sayings Of The Pastoral Epistles
The Five Faithful Sayings of the Pastoral Epistles for the Growing Christian
The Christian today, gets saved and then continues in his life without spiritual growth or nurturing.
Clergy assume that believers are familiar with the contents of those Bibles sitting on their
bookshelves. They assume church members understand the teachings of other major religions and
can hold thoughtful, respectful conversations about the differences between these faiths, states
Patheos in reference to a Gallop poll. No real discipleship is present in the local church. However,
five key points arise in the Pastoral Epistles. Paul wrote the five true and faithful sayings to Timothy
and Titus as they pastored to churches; but the sayings have practical application for the growing
Christian in the church, today.
Introduction

love going to the mall its relaxing to me. The Wolfchase Galleria is one of my favorites, it s
located in Cordova on Germantown Pkwy near Bartlett. This mall is always busy just on a
normal day not just on the holidays. Wolfchase has over a hundred stores, food court, and movie
theatre, along with a new addition the Cheese Cake Factory restaurant. With so many things
going on inside the mall your day will never be boring. The Wolfchase Galleria is a big social
site for everyone with many events happing. It was on a Friday when I decide to go to the mall

Effects Of Economic Growth On Society
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND The harmful effects and environmental problems
resulting from impact of economic growth have increased concerns of environmentalists,
shareholders, governmental bodies and society about environmental issues. Pressures from a
variety of sources have come to bear on the companies to accept responsibility for impacts on
society from business activities (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Companies are being urged to become
accountable to a wider audience than shareholder and creditor groups (Hackston and Milne, 1996).
Financial objectives are no longer the only important variables to firms; in addition to the owners
economic aims, the interests of employees, customers and the public at large have increasingly
been recognized over the years (Kolk, 1999). As indicated by Kolk (1999), the notion of
stakeholders has emerged to complement the concept of shareholders . Due to these developments,
companies have been attempting to seriously take into account their environmental and social
impacts and to provide information about their environmental performance (Unerman et al., 2014;
Dixon et al., 2005; Monteiro GuzmГЎn, 2010). Many companies have developed environmental
management systems and increasingly adopted environmental reporting within the annual report
(Deegan and Gordon, 1996; Gray et al., 1995a; Guthrie and Parker, 1990). Dixon et al. (2005)
argue that the main reasons for the development of environmental disclosure are the increase of

Sildenafil Jelly Research Paper
Many people find it difficult to swallow a pill. They often feel that they can choke on the pill or
simply suffer from a mental block when it comes to taking oral medicines. We recognise the
problems of such patients and therefore, recommend that these patients need to find alternative
methods to take the required medicines. Take the example of patients who are suffering from
erectile dysfunction. The inability to have a hard on can really decrease the confidence of the
patients who are suffering from this condition. They are certainly in need of a strong intervention.
One of the best ways to get medicine is to use Kamagra oral jelly. It is a flavoured oral

Analysis Of Jesus Land By Julia Scheeres
When an individual s pursuit of self awareness is disrupted, it often becomes characterized by
the creation of an opposite in other people. This theme is evident in Julia Scheeres s memoir
Jesus Land. During her period of adolescent self discovery, Julia is met with obstacles caused by
fanatical authority figures in both her family and church. This struggle ultimately leads Julia to
disown and even demonize her closet relation, her brother David. Although the book is a
concentrated depiction of this pattern, the idea of othering is prevalent in our country as a whole.
Specifically, gender othering always has and always will be an issue in America and the American
Dream. Through the description of her adolescent experiences in her memoir Jesus Land, Julia
Scheeres exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men counter women by placing them in subordinate roles. One theory behind this othering is that
men feel the need to project their fraility and vulnerability on females as a justification for treating
them as inferior (Arini). These supporting and domestic roles are presented by Christianity as the
more moral choice. Most religions require that a woman concentrate on her family, appealing to the
female maternal instincts (Arini). After years of being taught scriptures on being obedient, women
convince themselves that they are supposed to be submissive. They quell their other aspirations and
focus on getting married, having kids, and caring for a family (Arini). A study held by Lauren E.
Maltby, M. Elizabeth L. Hall, Tamara L. Anderson, and Keith Edwards showed that increased
scriptual literalism in males parelled directly with increased benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism
is the belief that, among other things, women should be kept at home in domestic roles. As a male
s agreement with core Christian ideals increases, his tendency to hold sexist views increases
(Maltby). Both men and women who accept the literal

Chad Christian Clift Offers Tips About Tandem Skydiving
16. Chad Christian Clift Offers Tips About Tandem Skydiving When Seattle native Chad
Christian Clift is not working tirelessly in a restaurant or traveling, he likes to spend some of his
free time sky diving. This extreme adventure sport has a reputation for being both loved and
feared by many. For those who have already experienced the thrill of falling through the sky,
there is no doubt that the experience is one of a kind. Others, however, have been intrigued by
the concept, but are too afraid to give it a go. Clift explains that a first time sky diving
experience does not have to be scary, especially since it will be a tandem jump. In a tandem sky
dive, the person jumping is literally attached via a harness to professional. When two people
tandem sky dive, the professional is the one in charge of the technicalities of the jump. All the
jumper needs to do is spread their arms and enjoy the ride. He says that sky diving is not hard to
do, and really anyone in good health can do it with ease. When you sky dive, the most
complicated part of the trip will be the paperwork that must be filled out prior to jumping, and
getting suited up and harnessed. Special suits are worn to help the professional or individual
diver adjust for wind, drag, and lift. These suits are comfortable, though not very stylish. After
that it is all clear skies according to Chad Christian Clift. 17. Chad Christian Clift Goes Hiking for

Case Priming Process Essay
Reloading is the practice of installing new primers, bullets and powder in previously fired
ammunition cases. The basic procedure of reloading is reletively simple, although powder and
case measurements can get fairly technical. There are a variety of ways to reload and a variety of
tools and equipment to do so with, in this report, I will cover the basic procedure of reloading
with the equipment that I use. The first step in the reloading procces is to clean the cases. This
task can be accomplished in several ways by using a case tumbler or with a super sonic cleaner.
Some people prefer to use both of these in specific proccess, I personally use a case tumbler. The
second step is to resize and decap the case. This is done with a loading... Show more content on

This too can be done with many tools and processes. I use a Lee auto prime tool. This tool
simply puts a primer in a case after filling the tool with primers, positioning the shell in the
holder and squeezing the lever. Priming cases is the most dangerous part of reloading and should
always be done with caution. Once the primer is installed, the powder can be put in the case. This
can be done many different ways but all procedures must be precise and accurate. It is very
important not to under or overload a case as this can cause firearm damage and or injury. Powder is
measured in weight by a unit called grains. I dispense my powder from a hopper with a variable
dispense amout. the powder is then measured and adjusted to the exaxt specified amount with a
gravity scale for safety precaution and is then funneled into the case. The final step of reloading is
seating a bullet. It is very important to seet the bulledt to the right depth as too deep or too
shallow can cause a pressure issues. The bullet is seated on the press with an adjustable seating die.
I seat my bullets to the standard lenght given in the manul. Each case should be measured and

Analysis Of Bell Hooks And The Shadow Of Race
In the article Learning in the Shadow of race in Class author bell hooks ties in the three
argument elements ethos, pathos, and logos to support her claim. She uses ethos, her educational
and social class background in order to show why her desires were often made to seem worthless
or stupid, pathos, her own personal story and logos by giving real world examples through her
own experiences that also relate to her audience s emotions. She questions the role of race and
social classin the life of a nation, claiming that an individual s family yearly income should not
determine where they fit in society when achieving a higher education.
bell hooks gains the power and credibility of her audience through knowledge of the topic at
hand, establishing peace with the reader, and demonstrating honesty. Ethos shows an audience
that the writer is credible, or expert in the subject of the agreement. bell hooks is widely known
for being a writer, feminist thinker, and her academic background. She establishes her credentials
through her personal struggles with understanding social class during adolescent. The reader gains
respect for hooks as she takes the audience back to a time where they may have desired something,
but never attained. For example she says, As a child, [she] often wanted things money could buy
that [her] parents could not afford and would not get (hooks, 138). bell hooks writes to not only

Herp Protein Synthesis
Viruses have also developed methods to prevent the activity of the transporter associated with
antigen processing, TAP. The TAP complex consists of two protein subunits; TAP1 and TAP2, and
is an ATP dependant peptide transporter essential for the transport of peptides to the ER and
binding of the peptides to MHC class I molecules [11]. Various herpesviruses interfere with antigen
presentation through the blocking the activity of TAP. The Herpes simplex virus
type I (HSV 1)
encodes the proteinICP47, which competes with peptides in the cytoplasm to bind to TAP. As a
result fewer viral peptides are transported to the ER for loading onto MHC I molecules. This ICP47
protein consists of 88 amino acid residues, out of which residues 3 34 act as the... Show more

The Bovine herpsvirus 1 (BoHV 1) produces the protein UL49.5, which also interferes with the
transport of peptides via TAP [13]. The BoHV 1 UL49.5 interacts with the TAP core particle,
through its transmembrane domain and ER luminal domain, and prevents rearrangements in the
structure of TAP. These rearrangements typically occur subsequent to the binding of antigenic
peptides and ATP. Such rearrangements influence the movement of TAP, as during peptide transport
the transporter molecules move slower than those not bound to peptides. However, the binding of
UL49.5 hinders such changes in TAP mobility by preventing structural rearrangements, which are
essential for the translocation of peptides. BoHV 1 UL49.5 also interrupts peptide transport
through promoting the degradation of the TAP1 and TAP2 subunits. This is achieved by the C
terminal cytoplasmic tail of UL49.5 which connects the TAP and UL49.5 complex to ubiquitin,
thereby targeting it for proteasome mediated degradation [12, 13]. This transporter is also a key
target for other viral evasion proteins (Table

RAM, some form of ROM, I/O ports, and timers.
Unlike a general purpose computer, which also includes all of these components, a micro
controller is designed for a very specific task to control a particular system. Micro controllers are
sometimes called embedded microcontrollers, which just means that they are part of an embedded
system. A microprocessoris a general purpose digital computer with central processing unit (CPU),
which contains arithmetic and logic unit (ALU), a program counter (PC), a stack pointer (SP),
some working registers, a clock timing circuit, and interrupts circuits.
The main disadvantage of microprocessor is that it has no on chip memory. So we are going for
micro controller since it has on board programmable ROM and I/O that can be programmed for ...

Toni Morrison Essay On Women
While Toni Morrison s male characters are often underdeveloped, Jacob, Frank, and Booker all
attempt to gain their own agency through female characters. Though he desires wealth, Jacob
relies on female characters to accomplish his goals. Frank s journey home is driven by his desire to
save Cee. Booker spends the majority of the novelcontrolled by Adam, but is finally able to let go
after Queen points out his influence. While there is a degree of independence, Jacob, Frank, and
Booker all need a femalecharacterto obtain autonomy.
To begin with, Jacob s goal in life is to become wealthy, much like the D Ortagas. Due to his poor
ability at managing a farm, however, he is forced to rely on women in his life. Lina recounts
how she had to teach him how to fish and how his crops died when he ignored her advice: He
ignored her warning of using alewives as fertilizer only to see his plots of tender vegetables torn up
by foragers attracted by the smell (A Mercy 58). When he begins to travel, he abandons the farm
entirely and leaves it in the care of Rebekka and Lina while he is away. He certainly has the desire
to pursue his own goals but can only do so by leaning on women. ... Show more content on

since she had been his original caring for, a selflessness without gain or emotional profit (Home

Circuit Conditioning Is A Workout Scheme
Tabata circuit conditioning is a workout scheme which was founded by Doctor Izumi Tabata
from the National Institute of Sports and Fitness in Tokyo, in 1996 (Tabata et al., 1996). The
first stages of the Tabata circuit began in the midst of coaching the Japanese speed skating team
as he conducted a study using an interval based training model (Tabata et al., 1996). The main
objective of the research conducted in 1996 was to identify whether it was possible to improve the
performance of his elite levelled skating team by using a certain protocol. As a result, Doctor Izumi
was able to create a time efficient workout which builds muscle, burns fat and increases VO2 max
(Tabata et al., 1996). The workout is a combination of eight short repeated exercises which last a
total of four minutes. The eight intervals are broken down into twenty seconds of intense exercise,
followed by a ten second rest (Tabata et al., 1996). With academic evidence, this literature review
will analyse Tabata circuit and establish how it has progressed from use for aerobic training to then
into a workout.
According to the American council on exercise (2016), An effective cardiovascular and muscular
conditioning program can be accomplished in a short period of time, but only if the level of
intensity is extremely high . Dr Tabata uses this technique in his infamous Tabata workout scheme.
Furthermore, tabata implemented this as he created his training experiments. The first experiment
was to pedal on an

Ethnographic Interview Essay
Ethnographic studies can give insight into the way that stereotypes are seen and perceived in
the real world. Audrey Shalinsky defines ethnographic fieldwork as a scientific and artistic
approach to the description and analysis of cultural systems (Shalinsky, 968). I chose to do the
ethnographic interview as I wanted to learn about someone else s experiences and hear a
different point of view than my own. I interviewed one of my Cambodian friends who asked if
their name could be omitted for privacy purposes. He and I met at a Starbucks so that I could
conduct my interview in a relaxed setting where my interviewee would feel comfortable and
open to talk about his experiences as someone from Southeast Asian descent. Throughout my
interview, I asked him what stereotypes he has encountered and what stereotype he himself
projects onto others. He talked about how he goes about his day to day life and how that causes
him to be stereotyped in a certain way and the way that he makes assumptions about others based
on their lifestyles and appearances. I wanted to mainly focus on the ways that he has been
racially stereotyped, but I also wanted to be able to analyze any other stereotypes that people may
have developed towards him. Also, I asked him how other people stereotyping him affect him and
why he thinks that other people create and use stereotypes to define people that they do not know.
Michael Pickering defines stereotyping as gain and loss and can change the social

Natural And Natural Sublime
Many different natural and manmade things can be interpreted as aesthetically sublime. Things that
are sublime are all around, and they attract a lot of attention from the public. Most tourist attractions
are considered sublime. The sublime portrays the strong emotions of awe that people have when
they see powerful forces of the natural world. Along with tourist attractions being sublime, most art
pieces, especially paintings, are sublime. While some artists paint natural, sublime scenes like
mountains, volcanoes, and waterfalls, the artists Erich Mercker, Hans Müller, and Fritz Gärtner
demonstrate the sublime by painting industrial scenes that are immense in size and contain bright
orange molten metal which creates feelings of power and fear. The sublime describes the awe and
shockthat people experience when they see something that is enormous in size. David Rodgers
summarizes the works of a man named Longinus, who is credited as the first person to define the
sublime. Longinus defines it as differing from beauty and evoking more intense emotions by
vastness, a quality that inspires awe. Whereas beauty may be found in the small, the smooth, the
light and the everyday, the sublime is vast, irregular, obscure and superhuman (Rodgers, 1996, pg.
889). He explains that the sublime is more than just beauty because the sublime captures the
massive size of these objects that creates wonderment. Along with Longinus writing about the vast
and sheer awe that the sublime creates, Immanuel Kantalso explains his definition of the sublime.
Kant explains that the physical properties, whether actually or imaginative perceived, that were
generally accorded to the sublime by 18th century writers, were vastness, obscurity and
irregularity, all of which could evoke a degree of terror (Rodgers, 1996 pg. 890). He also agreed
that the impressive size of things helped make them sublime. Overall, the sublime explains the
wonderment and awe that someone feels when looking at something that is huge and impressive. A
painting that portrays the sublime is Mercker s Copper Mill at Duisburg on Rhine River (TГјrk,
2003, p. 266). The painting shows a large factory that is right on a river, and the machines present

the award of M.Sc. in Applied Economics (2014/2015). November 2014.
1. Introduction
Belize is a private sector led small economy that is highly dependent on external trade and
vulnerable to internal and external shocks arising from its macroeconomic and trade policies .
Belize trade profile shows that about 61.6 percent of its exports are on agricultural products while
imports and exports to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratios are 72.4 and ... Show more content on

With this, a substantial volume of Belize s exports is traded under preferential agreements and its
trade policy is influenced by participation in the Caribbean Community and Community Market
(CARICOM) as well as other Preferential Trading Agreements (PTAs) and negotiating groups.
Whether or not its participation in these preferential trading groups is beneficial to its current and
potential engagements in the world trading system is germane to this study.
This analysis is therefore aimed/focused at providing an insight into the Belize current and potential
engagements in the world trading system. In order to achieve this, the analysis delves into the
bases for trade in Belize (section 2); the effects of her trade policies on potential trade and
negotiating position (section 3); the economic/political conditions affecting her trade (section 4)
and concludes by summarizing the key findings.
2. Bases for Trade
Belize engages in trade with the rest of the world because there exist frontiers constraints on
movement of factors, different endowments and/or payments, different tax policies and trade
/transport costs (Wooton, 2013). All these, inter alia, culminate in differences between Belize and
its trading partners, hence international trade. More specific, is the fact that Belize seeks to generate
additional market access to create the requisite demand pull for generating economies of scale,
thereby relying heavily

Research Paper On Hopf Bifurcation
Abstract. In this paper, a classical model describing a food web in a chemostat involving three
species competing for non reproducing, growth rate limiting nutrient in which one of the
competitors predates on one of the other competitors is considered. Quantitative analyses of non
negativity and boundedness of solution trajectories, dissipativity, and behavior around equilibria,
global stability and persistence of the model equations are analyzed. We present the global stability
of equilibria by constructing a Lyapunov function. Hopf bifurcation theory is applied. Keywords:

Compare And Contrast Mental Illnesses
Mental and physical illnesses are both very serious, but also very different. Mental illnesses are
often overlooked, as well as overshadowed by physical illnesses. Mental and physical illnesses,
while vastly different, do have similarities. Both can require intense treatment, and both can get
overlooked. The difference is that mental illnesses are more difficult to diagnose. Say if you
break your arm, you know the bone is broken or fractured. Nobody could argue that. Where if
you are always sad and melancholy, it s just assumed you are having a bad day, or blamed on
mood swings. Physical illnesses are often caused by something specific, whether if it runs in your

Similarities Between The Hobbit And The Sword In The Stone
Final Essay
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, writes J.R.R. Tolkien. Within Tolkien s famous novel
The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, thirteen dwarves, and a wizard named Gandalf embark on a journey to
reclaim the dwarves long forgotten gold. Although the story seems to be completely original and
made of fresh ideas, it is actually influenced by previous literature, like other common novels. Many
legends of King Arthur, with unknown authors, influenced J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbit. Several
points and ideas in the Arthurian story The Sword in the Stone are also reflected in The Hobbit.
One theme in this story is that one shouldn t have a bias towards who can do something and who
cannot. For instance, in The Hobbit, the dwarves believe that Bilbo can t be a good burglar and
help them with their task because he is a hobbit. When Bilbo had attempted to steal something that
could ve saved them, Bombur said, Silly time to practice pinching and go pocket picking, (Tolkien

In both of these stories, it begins with all parties being merry. In the first tale, it is the dwarves
who are merry, because they are giddy at the thought of regaining their gold. In the Arthurian tale,
they are joyous because it is Christmastime. In both fantasy tales, the hero is always expected to
defeat the largest foe. In The Hobbit, the hero s trouble is that no one wanted to defeat Smaug. In Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight, the problem is that none of the knights wanted to stand up and face
the Green Knight. One last similarity is that because of being chivalrous, nothing horrible happened
to the hero in the end. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain faced three testing temptations,
but still fulfilled his promise. In The Hobbit, Bilbo shows chivalry by bringing the Arkenstone to
Bard and the Elvenking as his plan. Thus, The Hobbit and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are

Hitler decided they were not to be around anymore. They were all considered like second class

Gospel Of Luke-Acts Essay
Luke s Gospel is known to be the last synoptic to be written. Since Luke introduced Acts, it is
crucial to date Acts before a date for Luke can be determined. Luke leaves the reader with Paul in
Rome, waiting to present his case before Caesar. Acts had been completed long before Paul s
outcome was known, this means that Acts came about in the early sixties with the Gospel of Luke
being written in the late fifties or early sixties. Luke Acts doesn t mention the destruction of
Jerusalem, which is why there are uncertainty of where Christianity fits in amongst the religions of
the Roman Empire, and the uncertainty of Jew Gentile relations at the same level as in Paul s

Montaigne And St. Augustine s Confessions
Montaigne and St. Augustine s views of happiness and the self are both very compelling and
indicative of the times of which they were living. If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to
converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique
methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the
environment around them. St. Augustine uses a linear, dogmatic technique to emphasize one s sins
while still glorifying God, and Montaigne with a more fluid, skeptical, unbiased approach through
personal reflection. These two distinct ways of perceiving the self and higher order understanding
are apparent in Montaigne s Essays and St. Augustine s narrative Confessions.... Show more content

Augustine was born in northern Africa portion of the Roman Empire in 354, a time of which
Catholicism was not a prominent feature of Roman society and of which had failed to make an
impression on Augustine until he was in his early thirties (45 6 B). He was quite an intellectual
as he became a professor and taught grammar and was well versed in Latin. Augustine s
intelligence is apparent in the systematic progression of his autobiography Confessions as he
looks back at his past self from a child to an adult in his upper forties with a new higher order
perception of the self. Augustine uses God as a method of conversion from egocentricity to a
more God central view in his depiction of reasonless theft simply because I loved the evil in me
(52 B) and further shows the transition in his thinking by his realization that the pears we stole
were beautiful for they were created by Thee, Thou most Beautiful of all (53 B). By writing as a
new person looking at their past self that was susceptible to lust, theft, and all kinds of sins,
Augustine is able to convey the idea that the self is able to change at a fixed moment, and that the
defining point of the self is the memory and grace

The Four Different Types Of Organic Compounds
Organic Compounds There are four main classes of organic compounds: carbohydrates, lipids,
proteins, and nucleic acids. Organic compounds are covalently bonded compounds that are
primarily composed of carbon atoms (excluding oxides and carbonates). These four classes of
organic compounds are vital to the life processes of all living things. One of the main organic
compounds are carbohydrates. Some carbohydrates are a source of energy and others are used
as structural materials for living things. Carbohydrates are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and
oxygen. They are in a ratio of one carbon atom to two hydrogen atoms to one oxygen atom
(1:2:1). The general formula of a carbohydrate is (CH2O)n. N is any whole number from three to
eight. The functional group of a carbohydrate is hydroxyl. Carbohydrates also have subclasses,
which are monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. A monosaccharide is a simple
sugar that is the basic subunit of a carbohydrate. The three examples of monosaccharides are
glucose, fructose, and galactose. Glucose is the main source of energy for cells. Fructose is the
sweetest of the monosaccharides and is found in fruits, while galactose is found milk. Compounds
like these sugars have the same chemical formula, but different structures, this is called isomers. A
disaccharide is a sugar formed from two monosaccharides. For example, the monosaccharides
fructose and glucose combining to form the disaccharide sucrose. A polysaccharide is one of

Utopian Society Research Paper
In a theoretical technologically advanced utopian society, we must come to realize that machines
will be a very big role in our society. From transportation to police, machines will be largely
involved in every part of this society. Many depictions have been made of such a society in movies
and novels. They all seem to follow a similar path; people distance themselves from each other,
hiding behind technology. With technology growing rapidly, there will be a shortage of jobs,
meaning there must be solutions to a stable economy. Furthermore, such society must follow strict
guidelines and laws for it to remain utopian.
One such depiction is the universe of Wall E. In this future utopia, humanity has abandoned Earth
and are living on a big space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The need for its economy to keep circulating requires a different view to the job market as it is
now. This is to prevent massive homelessness because of the automation overtaking many
simpler jobs. Tech based majors will have a great time in this utopia with an endless number of
job positions needed to keep society mostly automated. People with other skills will still have a
place in this society, because some things simply cannot be done as well by a robot, be it
cooking, sports or entertainment. Extra secure laws and regulations will help lower the crime
rates. Such society doesn t need extra strict laws, just more serious consequences to extreme
wrongdoings such as murder or rape. Adding technology to every part of our lives will also keep
many of the crimes from happening such as technologically advanced home security. There will
still be much that should be agreed on for society to follow these guidelines. Especially if the
government shall receive less power, this society has to be very well planned out to prevent
catastrophic results. With all this in mind, this technologically advanced utopia seems rather
plausible in the near

Positive And Bad Effects Of Facebook
Facebook is a famous social networking site that makes it easy to connect and socialize with
family, friends and even strangers online. Through this site, the world feels closer since it can
link you to people from thousands of miles away in just a click. And because of its popularity,
other websites collaborated with Facebook. This means a single Facebook account can sign in to
different services through the Web. Since then, Facebook has experienced intense growth and
reached more than a billion users and is still growing swiftly. Facebook can be very beneficial but
spending too much time on it can ruin a person s life too. Although Facebook helps in connecting
and communicating with people across the globe, it also has negative effects because it changes
lifestyle, it destroys relationship and it invades privacy. First, the danger of having Facebook is that

How Did Andy Warhol Influence The Pop Art Culture
Andy Warhol, is one of the major influences of the Pop Art Culture. Everything started when he
was born on August 6, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Andy was a successful magazine and ad
illustrator who became an artist of the 1960s Pop art movements. He made made art based off a
wide variety of art forms. Some art forms included performance art, filmmaking, video
installations and writing, and blurred the lines between art and aesthetics. He was first
recognized for his ability to give a regular art form either a change in for or a different vibe by
adding a different color scheme. For example, he used the production of Campbell s soup
commercial art to promote his vision and interpretation of art. Art to Warhol was determined more

Abstinence-Only Curriculum
The controversial topic of whether or not sex education curriculum should teach contraceptive use
or abstinence only is heavily debated. In 2013, the U.S. totaled 273,105 babies born by teenagers,
ages from 15 to 19 ( About Teen Pregnancy ). This raises the question: why is the number of
pregnancies so high? Is the reason for that unsettling high, number because abstinence only is being
taught or contraceptive use is being taught? Students who are taught abstinence only are more
likely to wait to have sex, which results in the lowering of teen pregnancy. The abstinence only
curriculum also reduces students sexual activity. The sex educationcurriculum in the U.S. should

Many think that teaching students about contraceptives will reduce teenagers from having
unplanned pregnancies. Research confirms that education provided by Planned Parenthood, which
teaches contraceptive use, helps increase the use of contraceptives and condoms when students do
become sexually active (Neering). This means that they stress the use of condoms over the idea of
waiting. What happens when condoms or birth control fail? The curriculum of abstinence only
believes that teaching contraceptive use just encourages teenagers to become sexually active
(ProQuest). According to the Center of Disease Control, waiting lowers the risk of unintended
pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases ( Sex Ed Must Stress Value of Abstinence. ). If they
are not in the situation of possibly having sex, then they do not face having an unplanned
pregnancy. Kane 3
Overall, sex education in U.S. schools should remain abstinence only curriculum. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students to wait to have sex. On the other hand, people believe that
contraceptive use curriculum will teach students to have less unprotected sex. This leaves the
possibility of the contraceptive failing, and having unplanned pregnancy. Abstinence only
curriculum teaches students that waiting is the best option for a good, healthy

Powers Of Ten Analysis
To begin, much like space, the videos and books read and listened to, covered a lot of ground.
What these sources explained was simply how big space is and our microscopic place is inside
such a colossal surrounding of stars, galaxies, Nebulas, and so much more. To first get a reference
point of our closer neighbors, we were brought through an adventure in the countryside with Bill
Nye to acknowledge the unimaginable distances between the planets. For example, when earthwas
scaled to the size of a baseball, it took over well over two miles to reach an absolutely tiny scale
model of Pluto. This is striking on it s own and even more staggering is the fact that Pluto is but a
inconsequential speck on the map of the solar system, galaxy, and universe... Show more content on

The short documentary begins at the hand, or thumb, of a man picnicking in Chicago, then things
change. As hinted by the title, the frame of reference begins to move away from the hand at a

forward, our planet, our sun, our solar system, even the our Galaxy, The Milky Way, shrink out of
sight into a bewildering cluster of galaxies. Third and finally, a representation of the space

The Economic Crisis Is the Greater Challenge than...
Globalization (a process) centers on improving the efficiency and speed that economies interact and
transform interconnectivity between sovereign nations political, social and economic cultures. For
centuries, globalized improvements in infrastructure (communication, economies, trade, and ideas)
have allowed sovereigns to improve interdependence with others. This essay will present why the
economic crisis, a global issue, is the greater challenge than pandemics to U.S. national interest.
Regarding pandemic challenges, the U.S. has among the world s best health care. The ability of the
Center for Disease Control (CDC) to respond to pandemics is better than any other nation. Over the
last 100 years, influenza pandemics have been among the leading cause of infectious deaths.
Technological advances have expanded understanding of complex pandemics and have improved
our ability to contain outbreaks or manipulate micro genomes. Caution should be considered as the
same scientific knowledge can be deliberately misused.
The U.S. works with countries, addressing infectious diseases that slow socioeconomic and
democratic development, as well as the humanitarian emergencies and civil conflicts that pandemics
contribute to. Infectious disease related embargoes and restrictions on travel and immigration can
cause economic frictions among sovereign states. Deployed U.S. military personnel will be at low
to moderate risk from pandemics yet, at the highest risk while deployed in

Analysis Of Rescued From The Reich By Bryan Rigg
In chapter three of the book, Rescued from the Reich, Bryan Rigg showcases a glimpse into
what life was like for the Jewish population in Warsaw, Poland during the month of September,
1939. The chapter examines many horrifying experiences the Jews faced, the role that God
played in their lives, and how the Nazis were able to take over Poland in a month s time.
Furthermore, Rigg puts great focus on a key person in the chapter, the Rebbe, who influenced the
lives of many Jews. Through all the chaos that consumed Warsaw, the Rebbe continued to teach the
Jews to stay true to their beliefs. Throughout chapter three of the book, Bryan Rigg evaluates the
events that take place throughout the Jews journey when Poland is at war with the Nazis and
how the Rebbe played a major role in the Jews lives. The point of view that the author, Bryan
Rigg, takes on is an objective perspective. The authors point of view is objective because he is
just stating facts that took place during a specific time period in history. Additionally, the author
does not include any bias or skepticism in the reading. Furthermore, the fact that his reading does
not include any of his own emotions, feelings, or opinion backs up the idea that his point of view
is from an objective perspective. The author uses biblical quotations from the Rebbe and facts to
reinforce his main points. He also focuses on one main thread that he incorporates into the reading
throughout the chapter. This thread would be the huge role that God played in the Jews life and
how it helped them get through hard times while the Nazis were bombing and invading Warsaw.
The chapter starts out describing the terror of war and the beginning of what would become known
as a tragic time period in history. Germany invaded Otwock, Poland on September 1, 1939. Early
that morning bombs were dropped awakening the frightened yeshiva students of Otwock (p38).
The students rushed to the Rebbe for instructions on what to do from there and he instructed them
to leave for Latvia, which was a neutral country nearby. In addition, he informed them to not be
afraid because God will always protect them (p38). This context of the reading shows how people
looked up to the Rebbe by coming to him for

Thesis Statement For Universal Health Care
Health care is an essential requirement for well being (Maruthappu). All over the world, health
care is a constant concern because of the difficulty maintaining quality and affordability. In the
United States, health care reform has been a huge debate topic. The purpose of health care is to
satisfy the medical needs of an individual. However, many Americans consider health care a
luxury, because millions of low income families cannot afford the same care as the middle or high
class. In this case, the right to quality and affordable health care is not extended to all Americans.

Countries in Europe experience taxes increasing year after year , which is what Americans fear
(Post). People believe the U.S. government already provides enough coverage and welfare for
lower income families. A significant portion of Americans does not want their hard earned money
used for unemployed people. Instead of seeing health care coverage as a right, people believe
health care should be paid for ( Right to Health Care ). However, the government uses income
taxes to fund infrastructure, schooling, and the military. Health care coverage is just as important.
The military protects Americans, schools improve their education, but health care saves lives. Low
income families should not have to step away from the ability to live because of their inability to

Antonio Bernini Research Paper
There were two Italian artists in two different time periods but artistic styles paralleled one another,
Gian Lorenzo Bernini of the Baroque movement and Antonio Canova of the Neoclassicism

Gian Lorenzo Bernini was a Baroque sculptor and created Apollo and Daphne (c. 1622 25) that

Canova s Cupid and Psyche depicted the image of two lovers in an embrace. Although this is
more in line with the Rococo style, the emotion, and real love between a man and a woman
displayed and detailed by Psyche s arms around Cupid s head and Cupid s arms around Psyche
covering her breasts.
Audiences praised Bernini for his attention to detail, carving pieces to look life like. Apollo and
Daphne s expressive faces and bodies were original and Apollo s love for Daphne and his
tenacity to keep pursuing her even though he knew she didn t feel the same. Canova had the

Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment
From plastic bags to pesticides the greater part of the waste we deliver ashore inevitably reaches

Sewage transfer In numerous parts of the world, sewage streams untreated, or under treated, into the
sea. For instance, 80% of urban sewage released into the Mediterranean Sea are untreated. This
sewage can likewise prompt eutrophication. Moreover, it can bring about human illness and lead to
shoreline terminations.
Dangerous chemicals Almost every marine living being, from a minor tiny fish to whales and polar
bears, is polluted with man made chemicals, for example, pesticides and chemicals utilized as a part
of the normal customer product. Some of these chemicals enter the ocean through intentional
dumping. For a considerable length of time, the seas have been an advantageous dumping ground
for waste created ashore. This proceeded until the 1970s, with dumping adrift the acknowledged
practice for transfer of about everything, including dangerous material, for example, pesticides,
substance weapons, and radioactive waste.
Dumping of the most poisonous materials was banned from the London Dumping Convention in
1972, and a changed bargain at 1996 (the London Convention) further confined what could be
dumped adrift. Be that as it may, there are still the issues of as of now dumped lethal material, and
even the transfer of allowed substances adrift can be a generous ecological hazard.Chemicals

very long distances in debris flows. Boulders grouped like fish eggs pour quickly downhill in

Impact Of The Imperial Rule On West African Politics Essay
Senegal History Despite its small size, Senegal is an important player in West African politics. It
has had a long history, from its days as a collection of tribal kingdoms, to its existence under
French rule and eventual decolonization, to its place today as a model of peaceful democracy ( it
is one of the few African states that has managed to avoid military or political coups since its
independence in 1960 (Anderson, 2013)). Senegal has retained much of its traditional African
values as well as adapted to traditional European ideals (Gellar, 1995). France and other European
countries have had a profound effect on the social, political and economic structures Senegal has in
place today. By analyzing the previous structures developed by the Africans and then comparing
them to the placed upon them by the French, one can truly begin to understand the extent of the
transformation that has occurred. Before the imperial rule in the Senegambia area, governing
methods were largely focused upon a single dominant power ruling over various villages, towns,
and social groups that were incorporated into the dominant political unit (Gellar, 1995). The
excessive land space to population ratio at the time meant that controlling vast amounts of land did
not determine a kingdom s power, it was instead based upon the amount of people under their rule.
Because there was little competition for territory, a ruling government did not have permanent
borders (Gellar, 1995). This is unlike

How Did Isaac Newton Contribute To The Discovery Of Calculus
Calculus is a means for calculating the way quantities vary with each other, rather than just the
quantities themselves. Mathematicians everywhere contributed to the development of Calculus.

is given to both men, however, in the 1600s a controversy occurred over which of them deserved
credit. Isaac Newtonis a very well known scientists and is recognized as one of the most
accomplished mathematicians. He was born in 1643, and began the discovery of Calculus in
1666. However, he did not publish his work until thirty two years later in 1704. Newton claims that
he began working on the discovery of calculus in 1666, but he did not publish it. Gottfried

The And Effects On Society And The Economy Of The Country...
I.Introduction
Liberia is a country rich in natural resources but is one of the poorest countries in Africa. In this
paper, I will explain the causes of this poverty, such as poor governance and corruption and the
effects on society and the economy of the country. Corruption is rampant in African countries and
beneficial to only the private sector, yet this country has not been able to successfully stop it and
improve its structure. The government is the backbone of the country. It is supposed to benefit its
citizens, protect human rights and serve the communities, however the governments in Liberia has
not. This has caused rampant poverty, instability and healthcare issues.
II. Literature Review To better understand these issues, it s important to contextualize this within
the body of other scholarly works on the subject. Below are five summaries of articles regarding
the subject of the Liberian governance. These articles examine the causes of the strife in Liberia
and the effects on the countries citizens.
The first article is Understanding the Economic Effects of the 2014 Ebola Outbreak in West Africa

  • 3. Long Term Memory Encodes Essay This study which was conducted in 1966; it was a study about encoding. This study was conducted to conclude if long term memory encodes acoustically (based on sound) or if encodes semantically (based on meaning). This is done by giving the participants word lists that are similar in sound and /or their meaning; if the participants struggle to recall the words in order it suggests that the long term memoryis confused by the similarity, this means that this is how long term memory encodes. The first study that Baddeley conducted was that he gave participants four trials at learningthe order of a list of words, he then used a 20 minute delay this was to remove the short term memory. The participants were then asked to recall as many words as they could in the order they were in. He compared their score in the 5th trial with the participants score in the 4th trial 20 minutes earlier this was to determine how much the participants had forgotten. Baddeley accepted the fact that the participants who had to remember words with similar meaning would find it harder than the participants who had to remember words that rhymed. He understood this because he thought the LTM (long term memory) worked by semantic encoding this means they would be confused by the similarity in the meanings, however, not by the similarity of the sounds. Baddeley s results came back to not be as he was expecting and he concluded that the participants STM (short term memory) was helping out their LTM, with the two memory stores working together. To remove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His earlier experiments suggests STM encodes acoustically. This is why LTM gets confused when it has to retrieve the order of words which are semantically similar; it gets distracted and muddles up the semantically similarities. LTM has no problem with retrieving words that are acoustic because LTM pays no attention to the way the words ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Black Meat In Naked Lunch Fats becomes completely normalized and ends up serving and morphing into the system, here the system manifests itself as Black Meat (103). According to Naked Lunch, Black Meat is like a tainted cheese, overpoweringly delicious and nauseating so that the eaters eat and vomit and eat again until they fall exhausted (31). It has an addictive force that could be claimed to symbolize the need to fit in the normal society. The act of eating until one is vomiting shows how exhausting and painful it is to try and satisfy one s need to fit in where parts of you has to be suppressed. This character becomes so absorb by the idea of servitude that he himself morphs into a controlling mechanisms: he becomes the idea of constant surveillance (Foucault 201). This claim can be argued as such due to the shape he morphs into. Large periscope eyes (103) stand as a symbol for the central tower in the panopticon (Foucault 200), and his search for monkeys show how power is always in search for the abnormal. The more abnormality Fats periscope eyes find, the more the system has to expand. This manifesting itself in the growth of Fats who progressively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Coke Bugs chapter a young street boy has through his black scars of junk, retained a wild, broken innocence: shy animals peering out through grey arabesques of terror (99). The junky named The Sailor, who is a reappearing character throughout Naked Lunch, seduces the street boy by appealing to the boy s inner desire. At first he reveals a hypodermic needle (99) after which he says, [s]it down and have a blueberry crumb pie on the expense account. Your monkey loves it... Make his coat glossy (99). The Sailor is not referring to the pie itself. With his subtle revelation of his needle (99), he rather alludes to drugs. This is confirmed in the following chapter of the novel called The Exterminator Does a Good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Unemployment Rate In Macroeconomics Written by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, Macroeconomics states, In general, the unemployment rate is a good indicator of how easy or difficult it is to find a job given the current state of the economy (Krugman and Wells 219). A New York Times article, Strong Unemployment News Bolsters Case for Fed to Raise Rates written by Reuters, talks about how unemployment rate benefits are holding steady with a steady labor market and how job openings are rising, which is encouraging the Federal Reserve to higher interest rates. As explained in Macroeconomics, by Krugman and Wells interest rates refer to, The price, calculated as a percentage of the amount borrowed , that lenders charge borrowers the use of their savings for one year (Krugman... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As explained in Macroeconomics, by Krugman and Wells, In structural unemployment, more people are seeking jobs in a particular labor market than there are jobs available at the current wage rate, even when the economy is at the peak of the business cycle (Krugman and Wells 227). If the government believes that this is the case in which the unemployment rate will not continue to decrease but instead rise, then the economy could face the costs of disinflation. The Christian Science Monitor journalist Mike Tokars wrote, Sanders and O Malley: Raise Minimum Wage to $15. Is it feasible which talks about how in the democratic debates on Saturday, November 14, Bernie Sanders and Martin O Malley agreed that raising the Federal minimum wage to $15 would be a stimulant to the economy and give the people of the United States more disposable income. This article also shows that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton disagrees and suggests that would create more job loss and a higher unemployment rate. If you look at the Republican side and Democratic Hillary Clinton who is more conservative regarding economic policies this article supports the notion that the Federal Reserve believes higher minimum wage will create structural unemployment and will result in a higher unemployment rate over ... At the beginning we see the boy get his first haircut. Just an ordinary cut please Mr. Fresnham, said the child s mother, and not too much off. I, my husband, and I, we thought it was time for him to like like a little boy.(47) The author intentionally decided to make the motherstumble when she talked about her husband. This was to foreshadow what will happen in the future. We know that later in the story the boy s mother and father get into a huge fight, and she stumbles when talking about a decision that she most likely made by herself or her husband disagreed with. • 7. Peter Pan Research Paper He can fly! That quote was said by Wendy in the 1958 Peter Pan movie. Peter Pan is a great movie. It is about a boy who will never grow up and lives in a long lost place called Neverland.. Peter Pan is a classic, well known for his flying abilities, the joy he brings, and his jealous fairy friend Tinkerbell. To add, Peter has a frightening enemy named Captain Hook, also known as Black Beard in the new Pan movie that came out in 2015. Between the 1958 version and the 2015 reboot, I prefer the 1958 Peter Panmovie because it s original. I m going to compare and contrast the differences of both movies by its style and reviews. Pan is our greatest warrior (Pan). In the new Pan movie there is a completely different style to what the old Peter Pan movie used to be. In the new movie there is no singing. In addition, the new movie was not animated, instead they used real actors. On the other hand, in the 1950 s the Peter Pan movie had plenty of songs that they would sing. For example, in the movie they sing What Makes the Red Man Red, and Jealous Girls ( Peter Pan Movie Review ). The movie was less intense than the new movie because in the new movie there was a lot of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these movies can relate to each other because it has the same concept. In addition, to the comparing and contrasting both movies I prefer the old movie because it is a classic and it was a movie that I grew up with. I like the concept that Peter Pan was supposed to be an imagination that came to life because Wendy and her two brothers believed in him. Not only that but both movies have different scenes but are similar in a way because the directors tried to add the story of the old movie. For instance, in the new movie Pan gets kidnapped by pirates at the orphanage he was living in, but in the old 1950 s movie peter goes to Wendy s house and takes Wendy and her brothers to ... • 8. How Did Edgar Allan Poe s Life Impact His Writing Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe died in 1849 yet people still talk about his writing today. Poe s life impacted his writing in many ways so his poems and stories are always very touching. He had so many things happen in his life that inspired him to make his writing good and meaningful. Love, death and alcoholism were all very meaningful in different ways to him. These things in his life impacted his writing and also made his writing very intriguing. Edgars love for certain people was stronger than anything. He loved his 2 mothers very much, one being his real mother and the other being his adoptive mother. He did not have a very good connection with men as well as he did with women because his mothers taught him everything and raised him to be the man he was. A lot of his stories and poems were in memory of is mothers. Poe also had a very very strong love for his wife Virginia. Virginia was very young but at the time age did not matter. The way that Poe explains his love for her is a very unique and special way. Unfortunately Poe s mother s and his wife Virginia passed away. Love lasts after death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost every story and every poem of Poe s had something to do with death. The reason being is he had dealt with so much death especially of loved ones in his life that it became a part of his life story. He lost most of his loved ones due to tuberculosis. Both of his mothers and his wife passed away due to this disease. Death kind of became a mystery to Poe because it happened so often to the ones he loved. Death was always kind of dark and his stories and poems took place in december at midnight. December is the darkest month if the year and midnight is the darkest time of night so that time of year and day was just fir for death. Poe drank to take the pain away of these ... The Role Of Addie Wyatt In The Civil Rights Movement African American women in the NAACP, the National Council of Negro Women, the National Urban League, to name a few organizations, were very prominent in the civil rights era. They sought Black women s full rights as women and as citizens, repeatedly insisting that women s rights to good schools, jobs, and protection from physical and sexual assault were essential planks in the black freedom struggle (Feminism Unfinished, 5). Addie Wyatt is an example of what the average woman of color experienced in the job force after the war. Addie Wyatt was a leader in the United States Labor movement, and a civil rights activist. I will be explaining the 3 changes I think Okonkwo was going through because of the commissioners and missionaries when they came to their land. The first change, was when Okonkwo found out that Nwoye converted to a Christian and became apart of the missionaries. The second change was when Okonkwo came back to Umuofia and he seen how his whole clan was taken over my the white men. The third change I felt Okonkwo went through was when Okonkwo realized that his clan was taken over and there was nothing he could do about it. • 11. Comparing The Five Faithful Sayings Of The Pastoral Epistles The Five Faithful Sayings of the Pastoral Epistles for the Growing Christian The Christian today, gets saved and then continues in his life without spiritual growth or nurturing. Clergy assume that believers are familiar with the contents of those Bibles sitting on their bookshelves. They assume church members understand the teachings of other major religions and can hold thoughtful, respectful conversations about the differences between these faiths, states Patheos in reference to a Gallop poll. No real discipleship is present in the local church. However, five key points arise in the Pastoral Epistles. Paul wrote the five true and faithful sayings to Timothy and Titus as they pastored to churches; but the sayings have practical application for the growing Christian in the church, today. The Wolfchase Galleria is one of my favorites, it s located in Cordova on Germantown Pkwy near Bartlett. This mall is always busy just on a normal day not just on the holidays. Wolfchase has over a hundred stores, food court, and movie theatre, along with a new addition the Cheese Cake Factory restaurant. With so many things going on inside the mall your day will never be boring. The Wolfchase Galleria is a big social site for everyone with many events happing. It was on a Friday when I decide to go to the mall to look around and to observe what s going on. First, I drove down highway 64 to get to the mall. • 14. Effects Of Economic Growth On Society 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND The harmful effects and environmental problems resulting from impact of economic growth have increased concerns of environmentalists, shareholders, governmental bodies and society about environmental issues. Pressures from a variety of sources have come to bear on the companies to accept responsibility for impacts on society from business activities (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Companies are being urged to become accountable to a wider audience than shareholder and creditor groups (Hackston and Milne, 1996). Financial objectives are no longer the only important variables to firms; in addition to the owners economic aims, the interests of employees, customers and the public at large have increasingly been recognized over the years (Kolk, 1999). As indicated by Kolk (1999), the notion of stakeholders has emerged to complement the concept of shareholders . Due to these developments, companies have been attempting to seriously take into account their environmental and social impacts and to provide information about their environmental performance (Unerman et al., 2014; Dixon et al., 2005; Monteiro GuzmГЎn, 2010). Many companies have developed environmental management systems and increasingly adopted environmental reporting within the annual report (Deegan and Gordon, 1996; Gray et al., 1995a; Guthrie and Parker, 1990). Dixon et al. (2005) argue that the main reasons for the development of environmental disclosure are the increase of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Analysis Of Jesus Land By Julia Scheeres When an individual s pursuit of self awareness is disrupted, it often becomes characterized by the creation of an opposite in other people. This theme is evident in Julia Scheeres s memoir Jesus Land. During her period of adolescent self discovery, Julia is met with obstacles caused by fanatical authority figures in both her family and church. This struggle ultimately leads Julia to disown and even demonize her closet relation, her brother David. Although the book is a concentrated depiction of this pattern, the idea of othering is prevalent in our country as a whole. Specifically, gender othering always has and always will be an issue in America and the American Dream. Through the description of her adolescent experiences in her memoir Jesus Land, Julia Scheeres exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men counter women by placing them in subordinate roles. One theory behind this othering is that men feel the need to project their fraility and vulnerability on females as a justification for treating them as inferior (Arini). These supporting and domestic roles are presented by Christianity as the more moral choice. Most religions require that a woman concentrate on her family, appealing to the female maternal instincts (Arini). After years of being taught scriptures on being obedient, women convince themselves that they are supposed to be submissive. They quell their other aspirations and focus on getting married, having kids, and caring for a family (Arini). A study held by Lauren E. Maltby, M. Elizabeth L. Hall, Tamara L. Anderson, and Keith Edwards showed that increased scriptual literalism in males parelled directly with increased benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is the belief that, among other things, women should be kept at home in domestic roles. As a male s agreement with core Christian ideals increases, his tendency to hold sexist views increases (Maltby). Both men and women who accept the literal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chad Christian Clift Offers Tips About Tandem Skydiving When Seattle native Chad Christian Clift is not working tirelessly in a restaurant or traveling, he likes to spend some of his free time sky diving. This extreme adventure sport has a reputation for being both loved and feared by many. For those who have already experienced the thrill of falling through the sky, there is no doubt that the experience is one of a kind. Others, however, have been intrigued by the concept, but are too afraid to give it a go. Clift explains that a first time sky diving experience does not have to be scary, especially since it will be a tandem jump. In a tandem sky dive, the person jumping is literally attached via a harness to professional. When two people tandem sky dive, the professional is the one in charge of the technicalities of the jump. All the jumper needs to do is spread their arms and enjoy the ride. He says that sky diving is not hard to do, and really anyone in good health can do it with ease. When you sky dive, the most complicated part of the trip will be the paperwork that must be filled out prior to jumping, and getting suited up and harnessed. Special suits are worn to help the professional or individual diver adjust for wind, drag, and lift. These suits are comfortable, though not very stylish. The TAP complex consists of two protein subunits; TAP1 and TAP2, and is an ATP dependant peptide transporter essential for the transport of peptides to the ER and binding of the peptides to MHC class I molecules [11]. Various herpesviruses interfere with antigen presentation through the blocking the activity of TAP. The Herpes simplex virus type I (HSV 1) encodes the proteinICP47, which competes with peptides in the cytoplasm to bind to TAP. As a result fewer viral peptides are transported to the ER for loading onto MHC I molecules. This ICP47 protein consists of 88 amino acid residues, out of which residues 3 34 act as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bovine herpsvirus 1 (BoHV 1) produces the protein UL49.5, which also interferes with the transport of peptides via TAP [13]. The BoHV 1 UL49.5 interacts with the TAP core particle, through its transmembrane domain and ER luminal domain, and prevents rearrangements in the structure of TAP. These rearrangements typically occur subsequent to the binding of antigenic peptides and ATP. Such rearrangements influence the movement of TAP, as during peptide transport the transporter molecules move slower than those not bound to peptides. However, the binding of UL49.5 hinders such changes in TAP mobility by preventing structural rearrangements, which are essential for the translocation of peptides. BoHV 1 UL49.5 also interrupts peptide transport through promoting the degradation of the TAP1 and TAP2 subunits. This is achieved by the C terminal cytoplasmic tail of UL49.5 which connects the TAP and UL49.5 complex to ubiquitin, thereby targeting it for proteasome mediated degradation [12, 13]. This transporter is also a key target for other viral evasion proteins (Table ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Circuit Conditioning Is A Workout Scheme Tabata circuit conditioning is a workout scheme which was founded by Doctor Izumi Tabata from the National Institute of Sports and Fitness in Tokyo, in 1996 (Tabata et al., 1996). The first stages of the Tabata circuit began in the midst of coaching the Japanese speed skating team as he conducted a study using an interval based training model (Tabata et al., 1996). The main objective of the research conducted in 1996 was to identify whether it was possible to improve the performance of his elite levelled skating team by using a certain protocol. As a result, Doctor Izumi was able to create a time efficient workout which builds muscle, burns fat and increases VO2 max (Tabata et al., 1996). The workout is a combination of eight short repeated exercises which last a total of four minutes. The eight intervals are broken down into twenty seconds of intense exercise, followed by a ten second rest (Tabata et al., 1996). With academic evidence, this literature review will analyse Tabata circuit and establish how it has progressed from use for aerobic training to then into a workout. According to the American council on exercise (2016), An effective cardiovascular and muscular conditioning program can be accomplished in a short period of time, but only if the level of intensity is extremely high . I interviewed one of my Cambodian friends who asked if their name could be omitted for privacy purposes. He and I met at a Starbucks so that I could conduct my interview in a relaxed setting where my interviewee would feel comfortable and open to talk about his experiences as someone from Southeast Asian descent. Throughout my interview, I asked him what stereotypes he has encountered and what stereotype he himself projects onto others. He talked about how he goes about his day to day life and how that causes him to be stereotyped in a certain way and the way that he makes assumptions about others based on their lifestyles and appearances. I wanted to mainly focus on the ways that he has been racially stereotyped, but I also wanted to be able to analyze any other stereotypes that people may have developed towards him. • 26. Natural And Natural Sublime Many different natural and manmade things can be interpreted as aesthetically sublime. Things that are sublime are all around, and they attract a lot of attention from the public. Most tourist attractions are considered sublime. The sublime portrays the strong emotions of awe that people have when they see powerful forces of the natural world. Along with tourist attractions being sublime, most art pieces, especially paintings, are sublime. While some artists paint natural, sublime scenes like mountains, volcanoes, and waterfalls, the artists Erich Mercker, Hans MГјller, and Fritz GГ¤rtner demonstrate the sublime by painting industrial scenes that are immense in size and contain bright orange molten metal which creates feelings of power and fear. The sublime describes the awe and shockthat people experience when they see something that is enormous in size. David Rodgers summarizes the works of a man named Longinus, who is credited as the first person to define the sublime. Longinus defines it as differing from beauty and evoking more intense emotions by vastness, a quality that inspires awe. Whereas beauty may be found in the small, the smooth, the light and the everyday, the sublime is vast, irregular, obscure and superhuman (Rodgers, 1996, pg. 889). He explains that the sublime is more than just beauty because the sublime captures the massive size of these objects that creates wonderment. Along with Longinus writing about the vast and sheer awe that the sublime creates, Immanuel Kantalso explains his definition of the sublime. Kant explains that the physical properties, whether actually or imaginative perceived, that were generally accorded to the sublime by 18th century writers, were vastness, obscurity and irregularity, all of which could evoke a degree of terror (Rodgers, 1996 pg. 890). He also agreed that the impressive size of things helped make them sublime. Overall, the sublime explains the wonderment and awe that someone feels when looking at something that is huge and impressive. A painting that portrays the sublime is Mercker s Copper Mill at Duisburg on Rhine River (TГјrk, 2003, p. 266). Although the story seems to be completely original and made of fresh ideas, it is actually influenced by previous literature, like other common novels. Many legends of King Arthur, with unknown authors, influenced J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbit. Several points and ideas in the Arthurian story The Sword in the Stone are also reflected in The Hobbit. One theme in this story is that one shouldn t have a bias towards who can do something and who cannot. For instance, in The Hobbit, the dwarves believe that Bilbo can t be a good burglar and help them with their task because he is a hobbit. The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Essay The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Many people look back on the Holocaust today and realize that so many abysmal and hideous things happened. The genocide of the Jews is known but what may be less well documented is Hitler s design to eradicate all groups other than the blue eyed, fair haired Aryans. So many of them were forgotten and just pushed in with the major race of the Jews, who were said to be unworthy of life. The people were not ready, nor expecting to be forced into such an egregious state of being. The Slavs, Poles, Gypsies, German homosexuals, Blacks, and the Communists were killed. Even the disabled and every one with incurable illnesses were Untermenschen as far as Hitler was concerned. The major race, besides the Jews, that was to be eliminated completely was the Romanian Gypsies (Friedman 7). No one of that race was allowed to live. From the ages zero to one hundred, absolutely no one was to remain alive. In the beginning, the Gypsies were treated poorly and their talent and success became a major threat to all the local people. It was then that Hitler decided they were not to be around anymore. They were all considered like second class citizens if not more poorly. The Nazi s were even told to experiment on them to try to prove that the Gypsies were somehow of different blood and not like that of the Master Race. Acts had been completed long before Paul s outcome was known, this means that Acts came about in the early sixties with the Gospel of Luke being written in the late fifties or early sixties. If both Montaigne and St. Augustine were to converse today, it would be apparent that there would be a bit of clashing between their unique methods of applying human logic to achieve a higher level of understanding of daily events and the environment around them. • 38. The Four Different Types Of Organic Compounds Organic Compounds There are four main classes of organic compounds: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Organic compounds are covalently bonded compounds that are primarily composed of carbon atoms (excluding oxides and carbonates). These four classes of organic compounds are vital to the life processes of all living things. One of the main organic compounds are carbohydrates. Some carbohydrates are a source of energy and others are used as structural materials for living things. Carbohydrates are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. They are in a ratio of one carbon atom to two hydrogen atoms to one oxygen atom (1:2:1). The general formula of a carbohydrate is (CH2O)n. N is any whole number from three to eight. The functional group of a carbohydrate is hydroxyl. Carbohydrates also have subclasses, which are monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. A monosaccharide is a simple sugar that is the basic subunit of a carbohydrate. The three examples of monosaccharides are glucose, fructose, and galactose. Glucose is the main source of energy for cells. Fructose is the sweetest of the monosaccharides and is found in fruits, while galactose is found milk. Analysis Of Rescued From The Reich By Bryan Rigg In chapter three of the book, Rescued from the Reich, Bryan Rigg showcases a glimpse into what life was like for the Jewish population in Warsaw, Poland during the month of September, 1939. The chapter examines many horrifying experiences the Jews faced, the role that God played in their lives, and how the Nazis were able to take over Poland in a month s time. Furthermore, Rigg puts great focus on a key person in the chapter, the Rebbe, who influenced the lives of many Jews. Through all the chaos that consumed Warsaw, the Rebbe continued to teach the Jews to stay true to their beliefs. Throughout chapter three of the book, Bryan Rigg evaluates the events that take place throughout the Jews journey when Poland is at war with the Nazis and how the Rebbe played a major role in the Jews lives. The point of view that the author, Bryan Rigg, takes on is an objective perspective. The authors point of view is objective because he is just stating facts that took place during a specific time period in history. Additionally, the author does not include any bias or skepticism in the reading. Furthermore, the fact that his reading does not include any of his own emotions, feelings, or opinion backs up the idea that his point of view is from an objective perspective. The author uses biblical quotations from the Rebbe and facts to reinforce his main points. He also focuses on one main thread that he incorporates into the reading throughout the chapter. This thread would be the huge role that God played in the Jews life and how it helped them get through hard times while the Nazis were bombing and invading Warsaw. The chapter starts out describing the terror of war and the beginning of what would become known as a tragic time period in history. Germany invaded Otwock, Poland on September 1, 1939. • 53. Impact Of The Imperial Rule On West African Politics Essay Senegal History Despite its small size, Senegal is an important player in West African politics. It has had a long history, from its days as a collection of tribal kingdoms, to its existence under French rule and eventual decolonization, to its place today as a model of peaceful democracy ( it is one of the few African states that has managed to avoid military or political coups since its independence in 1960 (Anderson, 2013)).
