Personal Leadership Essay
Crafting a Personal Leadership Essay can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The
difficulty lies not only in the need for introspection but also in articulating one's experiences,
values, and leadership philosophy effectively. To create a compelling essay, one must delve deep
into personal experiences, reflecting on instances that shaped their leadership style.
Expressing thoughts coherently becomes a task, as the writer navigates through their own
journey, trying to articulate lessons learned, challenges faced, and personal growth achieved.
Finding the right balance between humility and confidence, showcasing leadership skills without
sounding boastful, adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, addressing the prompt with originality and avoiding clichГ©s is crucial. It demands
creativity to present a unique perspective on leadership that distinguishes the essay from others.
Balancing vulnerability and strength is a tightrope walk, as the writer aims to connect with the
audience while maintaining professionalism.
The process requires meticulous editing and revising to ensure clarity and coherence. Crafting a
well-structured essay demands time, dedication, and a willingness to revise repeatedly. It
involves not only the initial drafting but also refining language, tone, and style to resonate with
the intended audience.
In conclusion, writing a Personal Leadership Essay involves a journey into self-reflection and
effective communication. While challenging, it provides an opportunity for personal and
intellectual growth. Aspiring leaders must navigate the intricate path of sharing their experiences
and insights, aiming for an essay that is both authentic and compelling.

The Effect Of Heat Treatment On Manufacturing
Capabilities...
Growth of any country depends upon its manufacturing capabilities. Today is world
of competitiveness. Every industry must need to increase their performance and
reliability as well as quality.Besides this one need to consider cost. Because at last
cost will decide whether the thing is of superior quality in that range. So every
industry must reduce the cost of process.
Every product need to perform different functions as well as under different
condition. So product must possess different properties as per its usage.Different
properties of the product will depend on the material used. But most of function doesn
t requires only one property. So product should have bunch of properties.
Heat treatment is a group of industrial and metalworking processes used to alter the
physical properties of a material. Heat treatment is the process of treating material by
heating the material up to certain temperature and then cooling it at various cooling
rates. It is noteworthy that the term heat treatment applies only to processes where the
heating and cooling are done for the specific purpose of altering properties
intentionally.
Other type of heating and cooling often occur incidentally during other manufacturing
processes such as hot forming or welding which can t be considered under heat
treatment processes.By using heat treatment process various property for same
material can be achieved. This will be the combination of properties required.

Drones Research Paper
Drones can be used to to monitor crops and livestock. It reduces costs because
there is no longer the need to pay a pilot to fly over your fields and observe your
crops. Hiring a pilot can cost nearly $1000 an hour, drones cost about $1000 each
and can be reused. Drones are not just reusable they are also resiliant. They cut
other costs as well, such as buying satilite images. Many drones come equip with
high quaility cameras that show more details than many satilite images. Drones also
save farmers very valuable time. It takes much less time to monitor crops from the
air than it does to monitor them from the ground. During that time farmers can do
other things like manage livestock or harvest produce. There is also a failsafe on the

Fleming s Experiments
The Stone Lab facility on Gibraltar Island shuddered as another collapse brought
down the rest of Flemings laboratory. The old castle had been smoldering for the
better part of two weeks. Charred wood sprouted flames, as buried embers found
oxygen enough to produce fire once again.
Two of Flemings experiments remained in their glass enclosure. One lay on its table,
pinned down by some debris that had fallen during the initial collapse. On the table
beside the destroyed creature was its companion. Cold, gray flesh mingling with steel
and computers, creating an undead cyborg.
Electric leads, which earlier connected the slumbering monster to the now destroyed
solar array. The Predator experiment, as Fleming had called it, had been a success. ...

Two figures aboard a medium sized boat are maneuvering out into the water. The
cyborg focuses it s optics on the pair, zooming in for a better view. The enlarged
image shows that both are male humans and are radiating heat. They are alive.
Images of the facilities guards stream across the interior screens inside the helmet.
The computer compares the escaping humans with all on file. No match is found.
Bold red letters reflect off undead eyes, KILL. As the cyborg moves forward, one of
the humans notices the machine enhanced zombie. Patting the other on its shoulder as
they both look at the mechanized horror. The boat, continuing its course, pulls further
away.
The cyborg runs in a straight path, but as it nears the edge of the dock it stops. The
helmet display warning of the water ahead overrides the command to kill and causes
the creature to halt before plunging into the lake.
It s chase barred the computer instantly scans the dock for a means to continue its
pursuit. Each possibility is located, evaluated and rejected. Motor boats are not part
of it s programming. The fleeing vessel was growing smaller in the distance when the

The Puritan Era
There is no doubt in history that the Puritan era was a fascinating, and remarkable
time. The Puritans indeed shaped young America, and the early years of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Puritans had deep pride in their community,
and even greater pride in their faith, and their beliefs. Religion was the most
important aspect of their community, and they wanted it to be the center focus of the
society that they were building. Their faith was continuously practiced, and preached
from the time they were a newborn, and continued upon the day that they passed.
They found that literature was the most ingenious way to teach their faith. In order
for everybody to be able to master the religion, they set up classrooms, and hired
teachers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Puritans greatest value was without a doubt their religion, and their faith. They
valued trying to enforce an education for the children, in order for the practice of
their religion to be sought out, and carried on for generations to come. The
importance of education was shown in the first educational law in Massachusetts
which was called, The Old Deluder Act of 1647 . This law stated that, It is therefore
ordered that every township in this jurisdiction, after the Lord hath increased them to
fifty households shall forthwith appoint one within their town to teach all such
children as shall resort to him to write and read, whose wages shall be paid either by
the parents or masters of such children, or by the inhabitants in general, by way of
supply, as the major part of those that order the prudentials of the town shall appoint;
provided those that send their children be not oppressed by paying much more than
they can have them taught for in other towns. ( The Old Deluder Act (1647). )This
law showed the magnitude of how important education was for their community. The
importance of family was also a strong value amongst the Puritans. Puritans such as,
Anne Bradstreet truly showed the emphasis, and importance on family life within the
lines of her poetry. Her poetry truly gave insight on the community, and what was
important for the families. One poem in particular that shows what family meant to a
mother during the Puritan era is titled, In Reference to Her Children. Bradstreet
strong emotions towards her beloved children are shown in lines such, That did
what could be done for young / And nurst you up till you were strong / And fore she
once would let you fly / She shew d you joy and misery, / Taught what was good, and
what was ill, / What would save life, and what would kill. / Thus gone, amongst you I
may live, / And dead, yet speak and counsel give. / Farewell, my
Universities Censorship
Over the centuries Universities have been regulated by several diverse organizations,
the government being the main influence. With the Universities conformity (alliance
or association or collaberation) with the government, this manipulation is pulling
away from what a University is meant to be. When Universities are influenced by
excess amounts of funding this increases the disturbance of how teachers and
scholars are influenced. Moreover, Universities have acquired significant amounts of
funding in respects to assertive departments: medical research, basic science research,
and engineering research. As universities increase enrollment, thus, increasing the
requirements for additional supplies for research projects, and implementing the need

Furthermore, as universities increase student enrollment, the university will require
additional supplies for research projects. This compels administration to seek funding
rather than searching for ways to benefit society. In addition, causing problems
between colleagues and various departments, however, keep in mind when one
department receives funding over another due to Government influences, the smaller
departments are still funded by smaller organizations. Furthermore, the government is
trying exert certain departments to distribute their findings. The rise to
commercialize research has been ongoing since the 1980 s. In 2002 the Association
of Universities and Colleges of Canada, along with the government, assembled a
meeting to discuss commercialization and the major research departments. The three
companies emplaced an alliance stating the Universities will receive double the
funding for research departments, in return tripling the commercialization.
Interestingly, the department faculties were not in attendance for this conference;
whom are considerable contributors to the commercialization of funded project. The
government has already capitalized peoples well being in regards to mental health as
demonstrated by commercialized products. Therefore, anti depressants drugs are
endorsed because they are commercialized. Not addressing that mental health can be
approached in various ways. However, the evidence is rising that such natural

Why would you want to support the abuse of animals for a product that is gone
within a couple hours. If you would not harm an animal why support products that do
it. LUSH uses vegetarian alternatives, which is great to see that this company is
instead using things that are produced and grown. LUSH has been fighting against
animal testing for over 30 years. As we all know animals are used in such cruel ways
for testing purposes; we also know that today science has come so far that we are
able to replace animal testing with non animal test methods that are as equally
evident, and way cheaper.
Lastly, LUSH only uses the freshest ingredients to make their products. Fresh
vegetables, flowers, fruits, and herbs are all straight from local suppliers who also
are against animal cruelty. LUSHs products are all freshly made weekly so that
customers receive the freshest products, which is probably why they have such
great reviews and such high demand for products. I have been using LUSH products

Essay about The Heroism of Minerva Mirabal Who was

How do the Mirabal sisters compare to colonial patriots? Both fought for freedom.
Both risked their lives to gain their freedom. And even though all of the Mirabal
sisters were involved,
I believe that Minerva was the most courageous. She fought for her personal freedom,
she fought for the rights of women, and she even brought her own family into the
rebellion to assist her in fighting against tyranny.. Through this essay I will explain
my overall opinion and show that
Minerva was the bravest and most devoted of the Mirabal sisters.
Minerva first began to show her bravery when she wanted to go to a boarding school.

She realizes that she has failed to persuade Trujillo and attempts to leave, but
Trujillo holds her against him. When she attempts to pull away a second time,
Trujillo becomes quite vulgar. The third time that she attempts to leave and fails,
Minerva slaps Trujillo without contemplating the consequences. This obviously
angers Trujillo. The Mirabals depart from the party to avoid any punishment. Over
the next few days, the Mirabals attempt to apologize for leaving the party earlier,
but are eventually called in by Trujillo. Trujillo begins to make small talk about his
dice and of the Mirabals breaking the law and leaving the part early. Minerva then
raises a question about the dice and of her request to be allowed to go to law school.
Trujillo expands this when he states, I ll tell you what. I ll let you toss for the
privilege. You win, you get your wish. I win, I get mine. , Trujillo s wish being to

Review Of The Wrath Of Jupiter
The Wrath Of Jupiter
It started out, a normal day. I was going to the fields, like usual. My wife, Fabiana,
wanted to say good bye. Unlike most Roman marriages, we truly loved each other.
Every day I left for work she would be right there saying good bye. So far she hasn t
missed a single day. I see you are already heading out , she said. Well I want to earn
some extra money this BC , I replied. I know , she said a little upset, but I know
that you re just trying to help this family. The baby is on the way and you re right
on one thing, we need extra money. I knew she d understand. I sometimes thought
that me and Fabiana were a little peculiar because of the things we did. We were the

It was about half way through the day and we had already gotten half of the fields. I
still had half the day to go but when I d get home I d get one of the best meals I d

looked up and I saw that the sky was 1 spontaneously darker and filled with clouds.

STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!! IT LOOKS LIKE IT S GOING TO HIT THE SPRING!!!
EVERYBODY RUUUUUUUN!!!!!!! That s when chaos broke loose. Everybody
was running to their homes, so they could get to cover, especially in the fields. But
I wasn t worried about getting to cover, I was worried about Fabiana. She was at
the spring and if she didn t get to cover, I don t know what I ll do. I was running to
the spring as fast as I could. I started to think that if I lost her, I wouldn t only lose
her, I d loose my new baby too. I wasn t going to lose her. I wasn t going to lose
everything. I had ran for a while until I finally saw the spring. There she was,
standing there. I yelled her name a couple of times until I caught her attention. She
started running towards me and I ran to her. We were so far away from each other,
but I just knew that we would make...BOOOOOOOM!!!!! The ground shook as I

The Iliad Essay
Divine Intervention is a direct and obvious intervention by a god or goddess in the
affairs of humans . In various myths such as the Iliad, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and
Herakles, divine intervention was called upon in order to restrain a hero s destructive
or too powerful forces. Although the divine intervention was used to impair different
heroes, the purpose to constrain was the same in all the narratives.
Homer s The Iliad: Book XX features a battle between the Trojans and Achaians,
shortly after Patroklus death (Lattimore Book XVI), where the gods must intervene
in order to restrain Achilleus destructive nature that becomes amplified due to the
grief and wrath as a result of the loss of his cousin/lover. The divine foresaw an early

It plays a main role in the beginning with the creation of Enkidu, the middle with
Ishtar, and the end with the destruction of Enkidu. The gods first intervene when
Gilgamesh s subjects call for help to them for the sake of the young women
oppressed by the lord s right . The Great Mother Goddess creates Enkidu to stand up
against Gilgmesh to stop his destructive nature that has terrorized his city (Dalley 39
50). Gilgamesh domesticates Enkidu and they create a friendship which turns
Gilgamesh less destructive towards his citizens, thus limiting his destructive power
and also focusing the remaining towards monsters; but together they make some
wrong choices and their destructive natures are portrayed during the Cedar Forest
incident and the killing of the bull of heaven (Dalley 83,102). For retribution of
killing the bull that Ishtar had sent due to her rejection, Enkidu is destroyed by the
gods; warning Gilgamesh that he isn t exempt from this fate if he continues being
uncontrollable and tyrannical (Dalley 120 125).
Euripides tragedy, Herakles, consistently portrays divine intervention as if it s a
direct challenge between a divine figure, Hera, and a hero, Herakles. Hera s hatred
for Herakles stems from his parentage, Alcmene and Zues (Hera s husband), making
Herakles an offspring created by his unfaithfulness towards her (Sleigh 12). Hera also
dislikes the fact that he has godly
I Am Legend By Richard Matheson And R.u. R
Morality, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is the set of principles concerning
the distinction of right and wrong or good and bad behavior. While determining the
difference between right and wrong may seem simple, morality is a complex idea
that can be framed and developed in a number of different ways. The novels I Am
Legend by Richard Matheson and R.U.R. by Karel ДЊapek both examine the
different ways in which moral beliefs can be developed and the possible implications
of those beliefs. The method for critiquing moralitywithin each of the two novels
comes in the form of societal change. Through the establishment of a new societal
order, both Matheson and ДЊapek demonstrate that moral issues can t be fixed by
simply replacing a broken society.
I Am Legend depicts morality as derived from the beliefs of one man. The novel
takes place following the end of society caused by war, drought, and widespread
disease. In the pre apocalyptic society morals are formed through a general consensus
reinforced through traditions that are centuries old. However, the society that once
was no longer remains in I Am Legend. Following the collapse of human
civilization and the death of almost every human, morality becomes a completely
egocentric principle. Robert Neville is the only human to be immune to the
vampiric disease. As such, he believes that he is the only sentient being. He is the
last surviving person, the last relic of an era. With a loss of society, there is no one
Asian American Research Paper
Continuing Significance of Race for Asian Americans
The formation of pan ethnic and pan minority boundaries, as well as intermarriage,
also has important implications for changing racial landscapes and race relations of
the United States. On one hand, newly emerging racial order along the axes of
socioeconomic status and interracial attitudes and relations suggests that Asian
American pan ethnic boundaries may be shifting or being redefined altogether. On the
other hand, interracial marriage patterns and the ways in which intermarried
individuals discuss their mixed unions reveal that black exceptionalism in the
(inter)marriage market is likely to continue.
Bonilla Silva (2004) theorizes that the United States is experiencing a shift in its ...

If boundary crossing through intermarriage is occurring mainly within a single
category of the tri racial order even among Asian Americans, then this would suggest
solidifying racial boundaries and intra Asian boundaries as well as weakening
salience of and potentials for pan ethnic and pan minority solidarity and identification.
Research on Asian American interethnic marriage shows clustering marriage patterns
among different Asian groups. Asian interethnic marriages occur within clusters of
East Asians and South/Southeast Asians with only Filipinos exhibiting about the
same levels of likelihood of marrying individuals from all ethnic clusters (S. Lee and
Fernandez 1998; S. Lee and Boyd 2008). However, scholars have paid little to no
attention on the effects of such interethnic marriage clusters on Asian pan ethnicity.
Research on interracial marriage also suggests a bleak future for the proposed pan
minority identification and cultural diffusion. For example, Lee and Bean (2010)
examines interracial couples in the United States and found that people perceive
Asian white and Latino white unions to be more intercultural in its boundary crossing
nature than interracial, whereas intermarriage with blacks are considered interracial
and therefore, crossing a rigid group boundary. Therefore, Lee and Bean (2010) argue
that the white/non white distinction in the mainstream racial system is shifting to
distinguish those who are black from
Julia Harris And Artur Samarin In The Great High School...
Everyone does crazy things. Sometimes, people cannot control themselves from
acting out or doing things that could harm others. Julia Snyde, the unsub from
Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris and Artur Samarin from The Great High
School Impostor by Daniel Riley are portrayed as evil people because they both
make selfish decisions that hurt others around them to fulfil their motives of
extracting revenge on St Oswald s and having a comfortable life in the US
respectively. But that is just one side of the story. They have had very difficult
upbringings and have never felt loved. Julia Snyde and Artur Samarin are both
portrayed as selfish and vicious by their actions. But, their actions are a result of
PTSD caused by spending their childhood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, this does not work in either case as the relationships formed are emotionally
damaging and even illegal in the case of Artur. While pretending to be a boy to
attend St Oswald s, Julia Snyde meets Leon and immediately falls in love with
him. But, Leon does not feel the same way. In fact, even when he knows that Julia
is in love with him, he continues to play with her emotions and makes her spend
time around him when he is with Francesa, his new girlfriend. Leon is a vain, self
centred teenager who enjoys tormenting Julia. Leon knows that Julia does not
enjoy being around Francesa. But, he forces her to. Snyde said that she had a
shack... it was there that we went, I keeping watch, smoking and trying not to listen
to the sounds that came from the little shack behind me (Harris 213). Leon makes
Julia Snyde keep watch while he was sexual intercourse with Francesa just a few
feet away. Only a sick, mentally unstable human would do such things. He subjects
both Julia and Francesa to a feeling of him wanting the other and mentally torments
Julia as she has to watch the love of her life, be with another girl and she can t do
anything about it. This affects Julia so heavily that she is never able to have a good
relationship with anyone in her life without feeling insecure about herself. In fact,
she harms or pushes people away before that can do the same to her. She

My five page paper is on a famous baseball star named Roberto Clemente. As he was
very talented, he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and
enjoy it too. All around Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five
pages I will be talking about his life and how he was a good samaritan throughout his
life.
Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a
house of concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina,
Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman
overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and gravel for a
construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other
jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the
family and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and
participated in track and field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short
distance races. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball.
Roberto was a very athletic boy.
Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his
father loading and unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very
interested in baseball ever since he was young and played against teams in his
neighborhood. He went to Vizcarrondo High School in

The reason I conclude this is because the first group gave me their undivided
attention. All the students in the first group were very interested in the book, maybe
because of the tone in which the book was read. The second group however, had a
student that seemed uninterested during the reading and the activity. I had to pause
the reading periodically to get the student to pay attention. During the activity the
student would not answer questions that I asked the whole group. The student also
looked at another students work when all the students were instructed to complete
their activity. Trying to get this student to get involved with the reading and the
activity was very difficult. For students similar to this student, I would select a
book of his/her interest in my future teaching. Overall, the read aloud lesson was a
great experience in which I learned many aspects about myself. I believe that
conducting more read aloud lessons would help me improve in tone and fluency
for reading. Also, in my opinion, an interactive read aloud is a great way to assess
students knowledge of the central message of a book. I will use the interactive read
aloud lesson in my future classroom ever change I get to help my students be

Pva Reaction Lab Report
The polyvinyl alcohol (Mw Вј 125,000 gm/mole, polydispersity index: PDI Вј 0.25),

The PVA Ag nanocomposite films were prepared by the in situ chemical reduction
method [8e12]. Sample b with 0.4 wt % of silver was prepared by dissolving silver
nitrate in 5 mL of bidistilled water and 1.5 g of PVA in 50 mL of the bidistilled

The product results in a metal
Ag polyvinyl alcohol complex, dispersed in the solution. After evaporating part of

The solution is simply poured into a Petri dish and the solvent is allowed to

How Did The Latin American Revolution Happen

How Has Philosophy Changed Over Time
Throughout the field of Philosophy, there were various periods of time when
discoveries were made, and new ideas began to flourish from them. This influenced
the way that Philosophy was interpreted in terms of deep, thought provoking
discussions, which grew into a manner of questioning the existence and essence of
elements within the known universe. Over time, deeper discussions stimulated much
debate, controversy, and would often cause a revolution throughout governments
stemmed from disagreements with philosophical teachings. From the beginning of
discoveries and new ideas, this had led to the evolution of how humans were to think
about both the secular and non secular aspects of life, and constantly form opinions
by questioning virtually each aspect of human life possible.
There are four known periods of time for the History of Philosophy, which are:
Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and Contemporary. These four types hold great
significance based on the various philosophers that came about and revolutionized the
world as it is seen today, within each respective time period. The first known and
earliest time period in the History of Philosophy was the Ancient Period, which
thrived during the 6th century in the city under authority of the Roman Empire,
which was the province of Greece. Within the Ancient Period itself, there were also
four divisions, which were: Pre Socratic, Sophist, Socratic, and Post Aristotelian. Of
those four divisions previously listed, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Physical Activity Is Important For The Population s Health
Physical activity is important for the population s health, emotional well being and
achieving a healthy weight. It has become increasingly clear that a person s health
and well being are improved by physical activity, as well as by a well balanced diet
(Centres for Disease Control and Prevention National Centre for Chronic Disease
and Health Promotion, 1996). Physical activity and diet are related in order for the
human body to be able to cope with the stresses of exercise a well balanced diet
with the correct nutrients must be consumed (Coyle, 2000). However, exercise
alongside a balanced diet is said to improve weight loss (Kirkwood et al., 2007;
Shaw et al., 2006), where as the relationship between different types of diet and
performance or between musclehypertrophy and fat loss is still controversial
(Manninen, 2006; Pitsiladis Maughan, 1999; Wolfe, 2000).
In order to achieve optimal performance levels consuming the correct nutrients
before a competition is vital. It is well evidenced that carbohydrate rich intake
before and during exercise can improve endurance performance by delaying the
onset of fatigue (Kotsioulou and Vleck, 2002; Febbraio et al., 2000; Jeukendrup,
2004). This ergogenic effect is mainly caused by the increased accessibility of blood
glucose for the delivery of energy to the active muscles (Coggan and Coyle, 1991).
Therefore, fasting before high intensity training is not recommended because it
rapidly depletes liver and muscle glycogen (Kang,
Essay Male Circumcision is Unnecessary and Wrong
Male Circumcision is Unnecessary and Wrong
I am opposed to the circumcision of infants. Here are my reasons:
The reason circumcision is performed at all is for historical and religious reasons,
not for medical reasons. Circumcision is not medically necessary; the medical
societies now consider it optional, and will in time recommend against it because of
the risks involved. The health benefits claimed are always statistically minor and so
do not warrant the practice. Additionally, any putative health benefits mostly relate to
adult males; to circumcise a baby today for benefits that are hoped to accrue decades
later is unwarranted, because advances in medicine that will occur during those
decades may make such prevention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Removal of an equivalent amount of skin from any other part of the body, such as
earlobes, would be considered mutilation, pure and simple. The only reason
circumcision is not considered mutilation is again for historical and religious reasons
which should carry no weight in a rational discussion of public policy. It s always
been done, hence it s okay, seems to be the reasoning involved. The same argument
can be made in favor of female circumcision among those cultures that favor it, yet
this practice is viewed with horror by most Americans.
Circumcision reduces the sensitivity of the penis, and so reduces sexual pleasure in
adult males, and a botched circumcision can ruin a man s life.
Circumcision removes a necessary protection of a sensitive part, as nude sunbathers
discover. This protection is also useful while clothed.
Circumcision is performed on a patient who cannot give his consent. Because it is not
medically required, for reasons of medical ethics it should be withheld until consent is
possible.
Circumcision is performed in the name of a religion which may be repudiated by the
recipient when he becomes able to judge. For such persons, the religious purpose
becomes nugatory. The bodies of children should not be sacrificed to the religion of
their parents.
The religious purpose of circumcision may have been repudiated by the church of

Triple Bottom Line Accounting Concept And Framework
Triple Bottom Line Accounting
By: Emma Juskovic
The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) accounting concept and framework was first created
by John Elkington in the mid 1990 s, and has since changed the way for profit, non
profit and government agencies measure the sustainability of their initiatives and
company. The TBL framework is flexible and can be adopted and molded based on
the specific needs of an organization. The framework is comprised of three parts,
which are: social (People), environmental (Planet), and financial (Profit), commonly
referred to as 3Ps. This framework does spark debate regarding the ethical problems
behind measuring, quantifying and accounting for social and environmental
variables, which is often not supported by many ... Show more content on

Businesses can prepare their own analysis for each category by obtaining numerous
pieces of information, which relate to their current state as well as knowledge about
how their company s decisions and operations impact their society and environment.
Financial measures in the Triple Bottom Line accounting framework should follow
the common financial accounting guidelines, Generally Accepted Accounting
Principle s, and International Financial Reporting Standard s. The financial measures
in the Triple Bottom Line accounting framework however are not under as much
scrutiny as the Environmental and Social measures, though there is debate over
certain ethical aspects of Financial Accounting as a well. Financial Accounting in a
business is usually not changed in a dramatic way, when a company decides to
adopt the TBL framework. Some changes that financial records might reflect include
an increase in expenses related to environmental or social care, a decrease in
expenses that reflect a detriment to the society or environment (i.e. Transportation
Expense), a possible increase in revenues as a result of customer support of the
adoption of TBL.
Triple Bottom Line accounting brings light to the importance of accounting for
Environmental measures, as it helps a company track their ecological footprint and
make plans to improve it. A company can be profitable for several years, however if

Paris Opera Ballet
Dance has been around since the earliest of human times. However, the formalization
of dance came long after humans were dancing. As cultures became more developed,
people could focus on other things such as rituals, dances, costumes, and
entertainment (Hooper). This led to entertainment not only for the royalty and
leaders of a society, but also entertainment for the commoner. Kassing notes that as
the Renaissancearrived, performances in court became much more common as a form
of entertainment to please the ruling class. Catherine de Medici is known for
bringing balletto France, where it became quite popular, according to Kassing s
report. The Paris Opera (originally the AcadГ©mie Royale de Musique) was founded

When the Paris Opera Ballet was formed, it was meant to entertain royalty,
requiring manners, etiquette, and protocol directed toward the royals, according
to Professor Suggs. Manners, etiquette, and protocol dictate how one is to behave
and act. This led to performances at the Paris Opera Ballet to be very formal
affairs as evidenced today. Many dances end with bows that would have shown
respect to the royalty present according to Anderson. However, today it is shown
to thank the entire audience. Also, there was a decorum practiced by the audience,
which can still be seen today. According to the San Francisco Ballet Company
website, they suggest propriety such as avoiding tardiness, making sure electronic
devices are off, no candy wrappers, no talking, and no snuggling with your
significant other. These are enforced out of respect for the performer and guests
around. Dress codes are another legacy left by the Paris Opera Ballet. Since the
performances were first staged for King Louis XIV, Anderson suggests that they
were a formal affair. This can be seen today: while most theaters do not have formal
dress codes, they provide suggestions on dress. Trip Advisor advises that guests
should be clean, use small amounts of perfume or collogue, and to dress the part.

Social Psychology
The principles and theories of Social Psychology are important and useful in
assessing behaviors in situations. These social psychological principles and their
applications can be seen in fictional films which can also be attributed to everyday
life. One such film that holds certain social psychological perspectives is Will Gluck
s 2010 production of Easy A. A film about high school student Olive Penderghast and
how a sudden change in popularity and financial status, after an unintentional rumor
about how she supposedly lost her virginity to a college guy spread through the
entire her school. The film draws on the behavioral connections of pronounced hussy

The forces that led Anson to wrongfully attribute Olive s floozy behavior as her
true nature are due to the social psychological perspective known as the Self
Fulfilling Prophecy. As stated in lecture the Self Fulfilling Prophecy can be
defined as the expectations people have about another person, which influences
how they act towards that person and thus causing that person to fulfill these
expectations. This prophecy is evident in the film when Olive s reputation is first
brought to her attention by her best friend stating that everyone and I do mean
everyone is calling her a dirty skank. Once she realizes that others hold a certain
expectation of how she should behave in accordance to her assumed persona. She
begins to notice how differently the people act around her. The expectations which
fostered different attitudes towards her are presented through the glares and the
gossip that force Olive to oblige people s expectations. In the scene Olive declares
that if people thought [she was] a dirty skank [she] would be the dirtiest skank they
d ever seen, confirming and concluding the last prerequisite in defining the Self
Fulfilling Prophecy, which is changing oneself to fit expectations. Rosenthal and
Jacobson s 1968 experiment is a fine example that helps explains how Olive fits the
Self Fulfilling Prophecy. This is because in the film and the teacher and presumed
student bloomers, both evoked
Summary And Symbolism In The Lottery

Hutchinson ends up being the one to risk it all and her fate is sealed with the sweet

In the second paragraph, Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of

because the ones with the rough, jagged edges would kill the winner faster. The
smooth rocks would grant the winner a slower, more painful death. The fact that
the children picked up the stones in the first place, indicates that the children
found some normalcy in the annual murderous event. The book box and the three

Andrea Yates Postpartum Depression By Andrea Yates
Postpartum Depression
In 2001, Andrea Yates, a Texas mother, was accused of drowning her five children,
(aged seven, five, three, two, and six months) in her bathtub. The idea of a mother
drowning all of her children puzzled the nation. Her attorney argued that it was
Andrea Yates untreated postpartum depression, which evolved into postpartum
psychosis that caused her horrific actions (1) . He also argued that Andrea Yates
suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her fourth child, and that she
attempted suicide twice for this very disorder ((1)). What is postpartum depression,
and how can it cause a mother to harm her very own children, altering her behavior
towards her children in a negative way? One in ten women ... Show more content on

Almost ten percent of recent mothers experience postpartum depression ((3)),
occurring anytime within the first year after childbirth ((3)). The majority of the
women have the symptoms for over six months ((2)) . These symptoms include
* Constant fatigue
* Lack of joy in life
* A sense of emotional numbness or feeling trapped
* Withdrawal from family and friends
* Lack of concern for yourself or your baby
* Severe insomnia
* Excessive concern for your baby
* Loss of sexual interest or responsiveness
* A strong sense of failure and inadequacy
* Severe mood swings
* High expectations and over demanding attitude
* Difficulty making sense of things ((3))
Consequently, the treatment for postpartum depression is more intense than that for
the baby blues. Among the many treatments, many mothers undergo intense
counseling, take antidepressants, or even experience hormone therapy ((3)).
In rare instances, postpartum psychosis is diagnosed (one tenth or two tenths of a
percent experience it ((2)) ). When experiencing postpartum psychosis, new mothers
can experience auditory hallucinations, as well as delusions and visual hallucinations
((4)), making them lose their sense of what is real and what is false. Treatment is
imperative an often times done under immediate hospitalization.

best part about doing a fishtail headband is that it works for all kinds of hair

under the crown where you can protect them to form a headband.
Fishtail Bun
There are no quick and difficult guidelines to develop a fishtail bun. You can attempt

If this is a result of market forces, it must be a market where all bargaining power is
left with the borrowers, none with the banks. Therefore, it may be questioned
whether the result can be seen as a decision by banks to hold more than the minimal
capital required. If instead we introduce a regulator, determining k so as to maximize
a social welfare function defined as we get that rL ≥ 2 − k, and inserting this

Ms. Teresa Keller addressed the Oklahoma City Service Center move to the Will
Rogers Building. We have eleven claims takers and two supervisors that have
moved into the space on the northeast corner of the fourth floor, just north of the
Adjudication unit. Brenda Orange is now supervising both Adjudication and the
Service Center employees. The move went smoothly, and we are thrilled to have
them here. This move saved the agency $90,000 a year. Due to budget constraints
the decision was made not to fill Jon Eller s prior position as Division Director of
Targeted Populations. Paul Stephens and John Harris of Veterans Services were
moved to the Customer Service Division under Lisa Graven. Targeted Populations

What Is Totalitarianism In American Government
Totalitarianism in American Government Thomas Jefferson once said, The greatest
danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the constitution. The
constitution gives the Americans their freedom and their rights. In America a person
has the right to be human, a right to make their own choices, a right to live, but is the
American governmentinfringing on those rights? The American government was
created to be controlled by the people to regulate their lives so they can maintain their
freedom not for the government to control their lives and their freedom. Any
government that attempts to control the aspects of one s life both public and private
is a totalitarianism form of government. Such is the government of Oceania in the
book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Oceania the government uses multiple systems to perform surveillance on the
citizens. One of the big systems used by the government are telescreens, and it
could be used in multiple ways. The telescreen could see people through the screen
as well as pick up and record any sound made by someone near it, and there is now
way of knowing if it is recording (Orwell 3). This closely resemble the stingrays
used by police that could be used at any time and there is now way for the
Americans to know that it is being used. The posters of Big Brother can be related to
NSA s data collection. In 1984 Winston describes the poster as, one of those pictures
which are so contrived that the eyes follow you about when you move (Orwell 1).
This akin to the ever watching eyes of the NSA in the American government that can
be watching your every move on the American s phones and internet. By seeing the
similarities between the government actions in Oceania and the actions taken by the
American government one can see how totalitarianism has seeped into the American
government through the invasion of
Strategic Compensation Henderson Printing
Strategic Compensation Henderson Printing June 12 2012 Case Study Henderson
Printing As a component of the structural variables in the organization of Henderson

Base pay will be determined according to the value of the skills and competencies
an employee has acquired on the production floor, there will be the incentive for
skill development as employees base pay will increase as their skill proficiencies
enlarge. This will also create mobility between jobs in the organization as many
members will be proficient in numerous jobs. Compensating the organizations sales
staff through the use properly designed performance pay will lead to profitable sales
for the organization. Once again linking compensation to performance will benefit
the organization in its ability to pay. It is important to design the compensation of
the sales staff in a manner that encompasses all of the organizations goals as
communicating with production staff will be a key component of the High
Involvement Strategy, and it is important for the organization to demonstrate a
commitment to the sales team that the relationship is not just purely financial.
Therefore direct compensation for them should consist of a minimum base salary
upon which their commissions are added. Henderson Printing conducts its business
in the province of Nova Scotia therefore they are obligated to provide: A vacation
of two weeks after 12 months of service and within the following 10 months or, if
the employee has been employed with the same employer longer than 8 years, a

Analysis Of Educating Rita
Educating Rita: A Realistic Film From the Director s Perspective
Educating Rita is a realistic look at a woman s journey to change and find herself.
The director keeps the film simple while watching her overcome a lack of
confidence and other obstacles. The film is considered a comedy but is still a
relatable story because the director represented Rita s character as she really would
be(dictionary.com).
Rita, real name Susan, is a young married hairdresser that wants to get an education.
Frank is an alcoholic literature teacher who is assigned to help her through the
program she enrolled in. Both have rocky relationships and the audience could easily
assume they end up falling for each other(Maslin). Rita has a thirst for knowledge but
little understanding of what she is quoting. Rita makes new friends and tries new
things. She even marvels at how much she liked seeing Macbeth(Maslin). By the end
of the movie she gains an understanding of her education and passes her test with
distinction. Through this series of events both characters end up single, yet part in
the same manor that they met(Maslin).
Lewis Gilbert, the director of the film, had the responsibility of using all the elements
of film to interpret the writers ideas(dictionary.com). In Educationg Rita he uses
realistic lighting and very little mood music to indicate how the viewer should feel
during the scene. Another way a director can get a viewer to feel a certain way or to
focus on a particular conversation, is

A Man among Monsters There were many cruel heartless people during the
Holocaust; many did their absolute best to completely wipe a nation from the face
of the earth. Amidst all the hatred and chaos, it did really appear that all Nazis were
a vile party that would stop at nothing to obliterate the people they hated. There were
a few, though, who realized the horror around them and tried to stop it. Oskar
Schindler is one such man who took action and managed to save more than 1,200
Jews from certain death. Schindler was born April 28, 1908 to Hans and Louisa

Schindler gathered all his workers in the center of the factory to tell them that they
were finally free, and he also told them not to seek revenge, saying we must
differentiate between guilt and duty. The soldier in the front, like the common
man, who does his duty everywhere, should not be held responsible for the actions
of a few, who also called themselves Germans. (Oskar Schindler) Schindler also told
the SS officers still with him to leave in peace and to not continue the bloodshed.
Because of his work for counter intelligence for the Abwehr, Schindler was wanted
in Czechoslovakia for war crimes. With help from several Schindlerjuden, or
Schindler Jews, Oskar Schindler and his wife Emilie were able to flee the country.
In 1949 Schindler later moved to Argentina where he and his wife lived with several

Profit: Organizational Viability Considerations and Recommendations A business is
formed primarily to profit its founders and employees. As part of the 3BL, profit is a
co equal consideration with business impacts on the planet and people. However,
profit is the only of the three that is essential to the operation of the business; if the
business is not making profit, then the next best case scenario is that the business is
breaking even. That means that the business is stagnant and unable to invest in
expansion and development without cutting jobs or reducing product costs. And of
course, the worst case scenario is that the business is losing money, and its days are
numbered. Therefore, profit is the only one of the 3BLs that needs to... Show more

the company maintains a balance with the environment that makes a positive impact.
Companies that only draw resources from the planet without making efforts to

  • 2. The Effect Of Heat Treatment On Manufacturing Capabilities... Growth of any country depends upon its manufacturing capabilities. Today is world of competitiveness. Every industry must need to increase their performance and reliability as well as quality.Besides this one need to consider cost. Because at last cost will decide whether the thing is of superior quality in that range. So every industry must reduce the cost of process. Every product need to perform different functions as well as under different condition. So product must possess different properties as per its usage.Different properties of the product will depend on the material used. But most of function doesn t requires only one property. So product should have bunch of properties. Heat treatment is a group of industrial and metalworking processes used to alter the physical properties of a material. Heat treatment is the process of treating material by heating the material up to certain temperature and then cooling it at various cooling rates. It is noteworthy that the term heat treatment applies only to processes where the heating and cooling are done for the specific purpose of altering properties intentionally. Other type of heating and cooling often occur incidentally during other manufacturing processes such as hot forming or welding which can t be considered under heat treatment processes.By using heat treatment process various property for same material can be achieved. This will be the combination of properties required. Taguchi technique is the arithmetical model
  • 3. Drones Research Paper Drones can be used to to monitor crops and livestock. It reduces costs because there is no longer the need to pay a pilot to fly over your fields and observe your crops. Hiring a pilot can cost nearly $1000 an hour, drones cost about $1000 each and can be reused. Drones are not just reusable they are also resiliant. They cut other costs as well, such as buying satilite images. Many drones come equip with high quaility cameras that show more details than many satilite images. Drones also save farmers very valuable time. It takes much less time to monitor crops from the air than it does to monitor them from the ground. • 5. The Puritan Era There is no doubt in history that the Puritan era was a fascinating, and remarkable time. The Puritans indeed shaped young America, and the early years of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Puritans had deep pride in their community, and even greater pride in their faith, and their beliefs. Religion was the most important aspect of their community, and they wanted it to be the center focus of the society that they were building. Their faith was continuously practiced, and preached from the time they were a newborn, and continued upon the day that they passed. They found that literature was the most ingenious way to teach their faith. In order for everybody to be able to master the religion, they set up classrooms, and hired teachers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Puritans greatest value was without a doubt their religion, and their faith. They valued trying to enforce an education for the children, in order for the practice of their religion to be sought out, and carried on for generations to come. The importance of education was shown in the first educational law in Massachusetts which was called, The Old Deluder Act of 1647 . This law stated that, It is therefore ordered that every township in this jurisdiction, after the Lord hath increased them to fifty households shall forthwith appoint one within their town to teach all such children as shall resort to him to write and read, whose wages shall be paid either by the parents or masters of such children, or by the inhabitants in general, by way of supply, as the major part of those that order the prudentials of the town shall appoint; provided those that send their children be not oppressed by paying much more than they can have them taught for in other towns. ( The Old Deluder Act (1647). )This law showed the magnitude of how important education was for their community. The importance of family was also a strong value amongst the Puritans. Puritans such as, Anne Bradstreet truly showed the emphasis, and importance on family life within the lines of her poetry. Her poetry truly gave insight on the community, and what was important for the families. One poem in particular that shows what family meant to a mother during the Puritan era is titled, In Reference to Her Children. Bradstreet strong emotions towards her beloved children are shown in lines such, That did what could be done for young / And nurst you up till you were strong / And fore she once would let you fly / She shew d you joy and misery, / Taught what was good, and what was ill, / What would save life, and what would kill. / Thus gone, amongst you I may live, / And dead, yet speak and counsel give. / Farewell, my

  • 10. The Iliad Essay Divine Intervention is a direct and obvious intervention by a god or goddess in the affairs of humans . In various myths such as the Iliad, the Epic of Gilgamesh, and Herakles, divine intervention was called upon in order to restrain a hero s destructive or too powerful forces. Although the divine intervention was used to impair different heroes, the purpose to constrain was the same in all the narratives. Homer s The Iliad: Book XX features a battle between the Trojans and Achaians, shortly after Patroklus death (Lattimore Book XVI), where the gods must intervene in order to restrain Achilleus destructive nature that becomes amplified due to the grief and wrath as a result of the loss of his cousin/lover. It plays a main role in the beginning with the creation of Enkidu, the middle with Ishtar, and the end with the destruction of Enkidu. The gods first intervene when Gilgamesh s subjects call for help to them for the sake of the young women oppressed by the lord s right . The Great Mother Goddess creates Enkidu to stand up against Gilgmesh to stop his destructive nature that has terrorized his city (Dalley 39 50). Gilgamesh domesticates Enkidu and they create a friendship which turns Gilgamesh less destructive towards his citizens, thus limiting his destructive power and also focusing the remaining towards monsters; but together they make some wrong choices and their destructive natures are portrayed during the Cedar Forest incident and the killing of the bull of heaven (Dalley 83,102). For retribution of killing the bull that Ishtar had sent due to her rejection, Enkidu is destroyed by the gods; warning Gilgamesh that he isn t exempt from this fate if he continues being uncontrollable and tyrannical (Dalley 120 125). Euripides tragedy, Herakles, consistently portrays divine intervention as if it s a direct challenge between a divine figure, Hera, and a hero, Herakles. Hera s hatred for Herakles stems from his parentage, Alcmene and Zues (Hera s husband), making Herakles an offspring created by his unfaithfulness towards her (Sleigh 12). Hera also dislikes the fact that he has godly
  • 11. I Am Legend By Richard Matheson And R.u. R Morality, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, is the set of principles concerning the distinction of right and wrong or good and bad behavior. While determining the difference between right and wrong may seem simple, morality is a complex idea that can be framed and developed in a number of different ways. The novels I Am Legend by Richard Matheson and R.U.R. by Karel ДЊapek both examine the different ways in which moral beliefs can be developed and the possible implications of those beliefs. The method for critiquing moralitywithin each of the two novels comes in the form of societal change. Through the establishment of a new societal order, both Matheson and ДЊapek demonstrate that moral issues can t be fixed by simply replacing a broken society. I Am Legend depicts morality as derived from the beliefs of one man. The novel takes place following the end of society caused by war, drought, and widespread disease. In the pre apocalyptic society morals are formed through a general consensus reinforced through traditions that are centuries old. However, the society that once was no longer remains in I Am Legend. Following the collapse of human civilization and the death of almost every human, morality becomes a completely egocentric principle. Robert Neville is the only human to be immune to the vampiric disease. As such, he believes that he is the only sentient being. He is the last surviving person, the last relic of an era. With a loss of society, there is no one

Asian American Research Paper Continuing Significance of Race for Asian Americans The formation of pan ethnic and pan minority boundaries, as well as intermarriage, also has important implications for changing racial landscapes and race relations of the United States. On one hand, newly emerging racial order along the axes of socioeconomic status and interracial attitudes and relations suggests that Asian American pan ethnic boundaries may be shifting or being redefined altogether. On the other hand, interracial marriage patterns and the ways in which intermarried individuals discuss their mixed unions reveal that black exceptionalism in the (inter)marriage market is likely to continue. If boundary crossing through intermarriage is occurring mainly within a single category of the tri racial order even among Asian Americans, then this would suggest solidifying racial boundaries and intra Asian boundaries as well as weakening salience of and potentials for pan ethnic and pan minority solidarity and identification. Research on Asian American interethnic marriage shows clustering marriage patterns among different Asian groups. Asian interethnic marriages occur within clusters of East Asians and South/Southeast Asians with only Filipinos exhibiting about the same levels of likelihood of marrying individuals from all ethnic clusters (S. Lee and Fernandez 1998; S. Lee and Boyd 2008). However, scholars have paid little to no attention on the effects of such interethnic marriage clusters on Asian pan ethnicity. Research on interracial marriage also suggests a bleak future for the proposed pan minority identification and cultural diffusion. For example, Lee and Bean (2010) examines interracial couples in the United States and found that people perceive Asian white and Latino white unions to be more intercultural in its boundary crossing nature than interracial, whereas intermarriage with blacks are considered interracial and therefore, crossing a rigid group boundary. Therefore, Lee and Bean (2010) argue that the white/non white distinction in the mainstream racial system is shifting to distinguish those who are black from

As he was very talented, he also cared and loved for everyone. He would help those in need and enjoy it too. All around Roberto Clemente was a wonderful man. In these next five pages I will be talking about his life and how he was a good samaritan throughout his life. Roberto Clemente was born in the summer in August 18, 1934. He was born in a house of concrete and wood on an old country road in Barrio San Anton, Carolina, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest of seven children. His father was a foreman overseeing sugar cane cutters and helped deliver sand and gravel for a construction company. His mother did laundry, ran a grocery store and did other jobs on the sugar cane plantation. Roberto did odd jobs so he could help the family and buy himself a bicycle. Growing up, Roberto played baseball and participated in track and field. He won medals for the javelin throw and short distance races. Throwing the javelin strengthened his arm for throwing a baseball. Roberto was a very athletic boy. Roberto Clemente had four brothers and two sisters. He did have to work with his father loading and unloading trucks because his family was poor. He was very interested in baseball ever since he was young and played against teams in his neighborhood. This influenced the way that Philosophy was interpreted in terms of deep, thought provoking discussions, which grew into a manner of questioning the existence and essence of elements within the known universe. Over time, deeper discussions stimulated much debate, controversy, and would often cause a revolution throughout governments stemmed from disagreements with philosophical teachings. From the beginning of discoveries and new ideas, this had led to the evolution of how humans were to think about both the secular and non secular aspects of life, and constantly form opinions by questioning virtually each aspect of human life possible. There are four known periods of time for the History of Philosophy, which are: Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and Contemporary. These four types hold great significance based on the various philosophers that came about and revolutionized the world as it is seen today, within each respective time period. The first known and earliest time period in the History of Philosophy was the Ancient Period, which thrived during the 6th century in the city under authority of the Roman Empire, which was the province of Greece. Within the Ancient Period itself, there were also four divisions, which were: Pre Socratic, Sophist, Socratic, and Post Aristotelian. Of those four divisions previously listed, the ... • 24. Physical Activity Is Important For The Population s Health Physical activity is important for the population s health, emotional well being and achieving a healthy weight. It has become increasingly clear that a person s health and well being are improved by physical activity, as well as by a well balanced diet (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention National Centre for Chronic Disease and Health Promotion, 1996). Physical activity and diet are related in order for the human body to be able to cope with the stresses of exercise a well balanced diet with the correct nutrients must be consumed (Coyle, 2000). However, exercise alongside a balanced diet is said to improve weight loss (Kirkwood et al., 2007; Shaw et al., 2006), where as the relationship between different types of diet and performance or between musclehypertrophy and fat loss is still controversial (Manninen, 2006; Pitsiladis Maughan, 1999; Wolfe, 2000). In order to achieve optimal performance levels consuming the correct nutrients before a competition is vital. It is well evidenced that carbohydrate rich intake before and during exercise can improve endurance performance by delaying the onset of fatigue (Kotsioulou and Vleck, 2002; Febbraio et al., 2000; Jeukendrup, 2004). This ergogenic effect is mainly caused by the increased accessibility of blood glucose for the delivery of energy to the active muscles (Coggan and Coyle, 1991). Therefore, fasting before high intensity training is not recommended because it rapidly depletes liver and muscle glycogen (Kang,
  • 25. Essay Male Circumcision is Unnecessary and Wrong Male Circumcision is Unnecessary and Wrong I am opposed to the circumcision of infants. Here are my reasons: The reason circumcision is performed at all is for historical and religious reasons, not for medical reasons. Circumcision is not medically necessary; the medical societies now consider it optional, and will in time recommend against it because of the risks involved. The health benefits claimed are always statistically minor and so do not warrant the practice. Additionally, any putative health benefits mostly relate to adult males; to circumcise a baby today for benefits that are hoped to accrue decades later is unwarranted, because advances in medicine that will occur during those decades may make such prevention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Removal of an equivalent amount of skin from any other part of the body, such as earlobes, would be considered mutilation, pure and simple. The only reason circumcision is not considered mutilation is again for historical and religious reasons which should carry no weight in a rational discussion of public policy. It s always been done, hence it s okay, seems to be the reasoning involved. The same argument can be made in favor of female circumcision among those cultures that favor it, yet this practice is viewed with horror by most Americans. Circumcision reduces the sensitivity of the penis, and so reduces sexual pleasure in adult males, and a botched circumcision can ruin a man s life. Circumcision removes a necessary protection of a sensitive part, as nude sunbathers discover. This protection is also useful while clothed. Circumcision is performed on a patient who cannot give his consent. Because it is not medically required, for reasons of medical ethics it should be withheld until consent is possible. Circumcision is performed in the name of a religion which may be repudiated by the recipient when he becomes able to judge. For such persons, the religious purpose becomes nugatory. The bodies of children should not be sacrificed to the religion of their parents. The religious purpose of circumcision may have been repudiated by the church of which the parents are members. The TBL framework is flexible and can be adopted and molded based on the specific needs of an organization. The financial measures in the Triple Bottom Line accounting framework however are not under as much scrutiny as the Environmental and Social measures, though there is debate over certain ethical aspects of Financial Accounting as a well. Financial Accounting in a business is usually not changed in a dramatic way, when a company decides to adopt the TBL framework. Some changes that financial records might reflect include an increase in expenses related to environmental or social care, a decrease in expenses that reflect a detriment to the society or environment (i.e. Transportation Expense), a possible increase in revenues as a result of customer support of the adoption of TBL. Triple Bottom Line accounting brings light to the importance of accounting for Environmental measures, as it helps a company track their ecological footprint and make plans to improve it. As cultures became more developed, people could focus on other things such as rituals, dances, costumes, and entertainment (Hooper). This led to entertainment not only for the royalty and leaders of a society, but also entertainment for the commoner. Kassing notes that as the Renaissancearrived, performances in court became much more common as a form of entertainment to please the ruling class. When the Paris Opera Ballet was formed, it was meant to entertain royalty, requiring manners, etiquette, and protocol directed toward the royals, according to Professor Suggs. Many dances end with bows that would have shown respect to the royalty present according to Anderson. However, today it is shown to thank the entire audience. Also, there was a decorum practiced by the audience, which can still be seen today. These are enforced out of respect for the performer and guests around. Dress codes are another legacy left by the Paris Opera Ballet. The forces that led Anson to wrongfully attribute Olive s floozy behavior as her true nature are due to the social psychological perspective known as the Self Fulfilling Prophecy. As stated in lecture the Self Fulfilling Prophecy can be defined as the expectations people have about another person, which influences how they act towards that person and thus causing that person to fulfill these expectations. This prophecy is evident in the film when Olive s reputation is first brought to her attention by her best friend stating that everyone and I do mean everyone is calling her a dirty skank. Once she realizes that others hold a certain expectation of how she should behave in accordance to her assumed persona. She begins to notice how differently the people act around her. The expectations which fostered different attitudes towards her are presented through the glares and the gossip that force Olive to oblige people s expectations. In the scene Olive declares that if people thought [she was] a dirty skank [she] would be the dirtiest skank they d ever seen, confirming and concluding the last prerequisite in defining the Self Fulfilling Prophecy, which is changing oneself to fit expectations. Rosenthal and Jacobson s 1968 experiment is a fine example that helps explains how Olive fits the Self Fulfilling Prophecy. This is because in the film and the teacher and presumed student bloomers, both evoked
