The Foster Family Character Analysis
Living with family can make life rather complex, especially when dealing with problems,
because this group of people are so close to each other emotionally. It s hard to keep secrets or
keep things behind doors because there s not really a door that can t be opened by everyone.
This is especially true with children and teens going through the ropes of high school. Finding
the balance of when a child needs to be disciplined by the parents and when to let the child be
more independent with their problem solving or even finding a way to have everyone connect to
each other while also providing a comfortable space or bit of a distance from each other can be a
hard task for everyone, especially if there are multiple individuals within the family. This example
of a family s interesting dynamics that come about can be seen in a show called, The Fosters. In
this show, the Foster family lives in San Diego where Stef Foster and Lena Adams (in later
seasons being Lena Adams Foster) parent five children, four of them being foster children and
one coming from a previous marriage. The children s names are Brandon (17yrs old), who is the
oldest, Mariana (16) and Jesus (16), who are twins that were adopted after Stef and Lena got
together, and Callie (17) and Jude (13) who are siblings that both got adopted. Stef is the birth
mother of Brandon, coming from a previous relationshipwith another charater named Mike. Just
like any typical American family with children, Stef and Lena deal

Massachusetts Bay Colonies Research Paper
One of the main reasons English citizens moved to America was the prospect of freedom from
from religious persecution. Many colonies were founded solely to be a safe haven for religious
minorities. For instance, Massachusetts was founded by a segment of extreme Puritans called, in
hopes of practice their religionwithout being harassed. The Separatists believed the Church of
Englandmaintained too many similarities with the Catholic Church, and it was their job, as saints,
to purify it. Their religious beliefs angered many people, especially King James, who was the head
of the Church of England at that time. A large group of the Separatists settled in Massachusetts,
hoping to practice their religious beliefs without harassment. The Massachusetts Bay Puritans
created a very particular society which incorporated their cherished beliefs into the foundation...

For instance, the Puritans, who ironically were the religious minority in their own colony, were
the only ones allowed to run public affairs. Only two fifths of the population was actually
Puritan, as the other percentage of the population moved for access to the fertile West Indies.
Although the rules system set up by the colonists was one of the earliest instances of some sort
of government run by the people, the Bay colony was far from a democracy, due to the exclusive
nature of the elections. Another example of the effect religion had on the Bay colony government
was evident through the fact that certain powers were denied to Even though said leaders had
control over who was granted attendance to church, or those who were deemed to be damned ,
religious leaders were unable to hold a position in the government. Since religious leaders and
government officials in the Bay colony both held similar measures of power, this natural system of
balances was instated to prevent either religious or political leaders from becoming too

How Did Julius Caesar Invade Britain
Intro Roman Britain, or Britannia, was the name of England and Wales when they were ruled by
the Romans. Julius Caesar was the first of the Roman emperors to invade Britain. The native
Britons were overrun by other Celtic tribes. These tribes however aided Caesar s enemies, thus the
need to invade Britain. But it wasn t until a hundred years later that the Romans actually ruled
Roman Britain, thanks to the defenses of the Celtic tribes. Culture The Romans brought culture to
Ancient Britain. They built brick and stone buildings with central heating, sewage systems, paved
roads, libraries etc. The Romans also brought their language to Britain: Latin. Housing The floor
on which someone lived depended on his or her income. The lower apartments ground or first
floor were more comfortable than the top floors. They were spacious, had separate rooms for
dining and sleeping, they had windows and had access to running water. The higher floors however
usually housed an entire family per room. There was no natural light, no running water and thus no
private toilets. Instead, they often had to use public toilets, or dump their waste outside. The
wealthiest residents lived in private villas, close to the imperial palace. They consisted of a shop at
the front of the villa, and an atrium connected to many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Families were centered around the paterfamilias, the male head of the household. The
paterfamilias literally had the power of life and death over all members of the family: when a
disfigured child was born, he could reject it, if another daughter was born, he could reject her, if
someone questioned his authority, he could order him to be killed. Another fun fact is that he could
also sell his children as slaves. The wife would run the household and sometimes tutored the
children. Later in time, the wife was permitted to go to the baths, attend theater, and even to have an

Social Issue Of Teen Pregnancy
History of the Problem: The issue of teen pregnancy in the United States first garnered the public s
attention in the 1950s. Beginning with the Carter administration, every succeeding presidential
administration highlights teen pregnancy as social issue that needs to be addressed (Furstenberg,
2007). The issue of teen pregnancywas first noted in the early 1950s. In Post WWII America, birth
rates rose at a staggering rate among all women (Colby, 2014). In this time period, marriage and
child bearing were still inextricably linked and marriage among teens also rose. Due to teens
tendency to marry due to an unintended pregnancy, the issue of teen pregnancy did not gain much
attention during this decade.
During the 1960s, however, childbearing of women of all ages declined but much more so in
older American women (Furstenberg, 2007). During this decade teens were still bearing children
and at a much higher rate than their older female counterparts. This was due, in part, to the fact
that teen pregnancy was usually unintended and therefore harder to manage with the contraceptive
that were available at the time (Furstenberg, 2007). During this time period, it was also much
harder to marry at a young age. Age of consent laws, the age that an individual can legally consent
to sexual activity, have largely remained unchanged since the 1920s (Robertson, 2007). Age of
consent laws vary from state to state but range from 14 to 18 in the United States (Robertson,
2007). The age for

Nursing Shortage Of Maryland And How Does It Effect...
Nursing Shortage in Maryland and How does it Effect Healthcare Renita Scott March 17, 2015
PUAD 751.TW1 Sp15 What is the nursing shortage and why does it exist in Maryland? The
History of Nursing The practice of nursing started in the past around the Middle Ages, where
women in primitive societies where made to take care of the sick whether they wanted to or
not. For example, in Ethiopia among the Zuni tribe, if a baby is born with part of the placenta
covering the face, it was taken as a sign that the baby would be marked as one destined to
become a caregiver. (Henly Moss, 2007). In many societies, nurses were mostly untrained
women who helped deliver babies or were wet nurses. According to The History of Nursing
(2013) religious figures like nuns had more training and cared for the sick. However, by the 13th
through the 16th centuries, religious orders felt as if it was their duty to care for the physical
needs of people as well as their spiritual needs and formed sisterhoods to carry out this mission. In
1645, Jeanne Mance, a nurse from France, established the Hotel Dieu de Montreal in Canada, the
first hospital in North America. By the 18th century, the United States was beginning to realize the
need for organized nursing services. In 1751, Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond opened
Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation s first hospital. It served the poor and homeless in Philadelphia.

The influx of Korean Dramas in the Philippine market became a hit during the early 2000 s and
some of the game changers for the increase in the popularity of Korean Dramas can be attributed
to Lovers in Paris (2004) , Full House, Jewel in the Palace, the remake of the Taiwanese film

times where this point is established during the exploration of the text.

Family Is The Traditional African Proverb Essay
Family Community Involvement in Education
The traditional African proverb, It takes a village to raise a child, has been widely quoted for
years stating the whole community takes a role in raising a child. Its clear message still holds true
for today the entire community shapes the growth and development of its young people. Aside from
the vital roles of family members and teachers, community members are also responsible to assure
high quality education and student success. According to the article Parent, Family, Community
Involvement in Education published by National Education Association, when schools, parents,
families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades,
attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher level programs (National
Education Association, 2008). Educators know that, while they take their professional
responsibility seriously, they depend on and need the support from parents and members of the
community for students to achieve their highest quality education. The article Parent, Family,
Community Involvement in Education published by National Education Association states, data
compiled in 2005 show that 17 states have directed all districts or schools to implement parental
involvement policies (National Education Association, 2008). The article goes on saying seven
states, including Indiana, have obligated schools or districts to develop policies linking

Fifa Of The World Cup
You are in the World Cup. Its the biggest sporting event in the world. You are representing your
country, and the fans are cheering you. The game starts and right away you can tell it s going to
be a rough game. The referee starts calling everything against you and nothing for you. There isn t
anything you can do. You will for sure lose the game. Soccer is a very great sport but, it has FIFA
corruption, illegal transfers, and fixed matches.
FIFA corruption happens because of the desire of money. FIFA original mission was to support
the growth and spread of soccer. They try to achieve this by hosting competitions at all levels
and ages. Fifa promotes soccer through campaigns against discrimination in the lines of race,
politics, and religion. ( What is FIFA? ) For the most part they have been very good at the spread
and growth of soccer. One way they helped spread soccer is letting different countries host the
World Cup. After letting Africa and America host it, soccer was growing very fast around the
world. They have done pretty good in the discrimination part because they usually ban a player or
fan if they are found discriminating against someone.
Although they do these really great things sometimes FIFA will go against their mission and be
corrupt. For example, In May the US indicted 14 current and former Fifa officials and associates
on charges of rampant, systemic, and deep rooted corruption. Another of fifa being corrupt is on
December, 16 officials were charged

Krewe Of Cleopatra Essay
The Krewe of Cleopatra is an all women crew that represents strength, beauty, and femininity.
Earlier this month, I got to see the Cleopatra crew performed and it was an astonishing
experience. I lived here in New Orleans for nine years, but I have never participated in a parade
before. Even though it was a popular culture, I was always too lazy to go. This year I wanted to
do something more than just staying home and play game, I wanted to go out and experience the
atmosphere, but more specifically I wanted to experience the Mardi Grasatmosphere. It was a
unique atmosphere that I certainly love to go again. Mardi Gras is a wonderful holiday that

This year I decided to go out and enjoy a little. In addition to enjoying myself, I can also learn a bit
more about the holiday itself. I wanted to go to a parade that was not very crowded, so I picked the
Krewe of Cleopatra. It was perfect for a beginner at going to parade. It was not packed with
people and it was a somewhat famous parade. It was an all female parade, so I felt a bit awkward
for attending it, but I was mistaken. I arrived there an hour ahead in order to find a parking spot.
There I saw other men and it was not as awkward as I initially thought it would be. Once the
floats were coming down from the street and I can see the women standing on top throwing
beads into the crowd. These floats were filled with different colors and the women were dressed
in black. The crowd was getting rowdy and I could barely stand still. Once the float came by I
managed to catch some. These beads were a signifier that has a special signified here in New
Orleans and other places that celebrated Mardi Gras. By the end of the parade I was tired standing
and following all the floats. Even though it was tiring, I still had lots of

Examples Of Sexism In The Crucible
Sexism and the Crucible Ever since the beginning of the technology era, all unethical things have
been glorified. Shootings, rape, kidnappings, and cheating seem to be all over the media today.
However, they do not focus on what actually happened, but instead on who is the victim and who is
the villain. Has sexismchanged since 1692 and what beliefs about it stayed the same? Adultery,
slut shaming are examples of how sexism still prevail as an issue that women must face,
however, the social effect today is still worse for women than men. Today in society with
technology it is a lot harder to get away with cheating. It is not normal for people to be gone for

To start, in high school girls get so much more hate for anything they do sexually. Rumors spread
around about a girl who cheated on her boyfriend with a person at a different school. It was true
because the girl told me herself and she got a lot of disrespect due to the fact that she cheated.
Although, the boyfriend cheated as well and really did not face too many problems. To continue,
Kristen Stewart cheated multiple times on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson. Kristen cheated with
the director of her movie Snow White and the Huntsmen. Pattinson allegedly tried his hardest to
forgive and forget but eventually that relationship ended. Additionally, the cheating also broke up
the director and his wife as well. To start, almost all the blogs and stories about cheating say
Kristen Stewart cheats on Robert. Barely any mention that the director cheated on his wife and
they had already had two kids. Cheating is wrong either way, but it is a lot worse to have children
that find out their father was not faithful to their mother. However, it is barely mentioned that he
did such a preposterous thing, not just to one person like Kristen but three. Kristen still faces
much hate for doing this while no one really speaks about the director. It can be said because
Kristen and Robert were a more known couple than the director, Rupert Sanders, and his wife, but
that does not change the fact that it takes two people to cheat. Both spouses were devastated yet
only one of the cheaters was really blamed for the cheating that took place. It is unjust that women
usually become bigger disgraces then men when they cheat. In the Crucible, Proctor mentions in the

How Does Oscar Wilde Use Humor
In Oscar Wilde s The Importance of Being Earnest there are multiple types of humor. Oscar
Wilde was known for being quite humorous and he shows this throughout the story. This story
has grown to be very popular and has been made into countless stage productions and even three
films. The Importance of being Earnest can thank its humor and hysterical tone for making it
into the widely known and loved play that it is today. One type of humor that is found in The
Importance of Being Earnest is inversion humor. Inversion humor is when someone goes
against logical reasoning and says expressions that make little to no sense at all. In inversion
humor, the end of the phrase being said is typically the opposite of what you expect to be said,
and is very unpredictable. One of many instances where this type of humor is found is when
Cecily says, I don t like novels that end happily. They depress me so much (Wilde, Act II P.2311).
As you can see she begins with saying she does not like happy endings and then contradicts the
meaning of the word happy and says that they depress her. There are numerous other instances

The state of Texas gained its independence on December 29, 1845 after six and a half enduring

of the most memorable engagements within this period of time, where the legendary cry,

Critical Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By...
Flannery O Connor was often shocked to find how people interpreted her stories. Some readers
of A Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor
set out, quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the
importance of the grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained
how violence and grace come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of
Grace, the moment when you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment
when the Grandmother realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. These moments are prepared
for (by me anyway) by the intensity of the evil circumstances. When O Connor... Show more

Generally O Connor chalked up all the misreadings and confusion to the spiritual shortcomings
of the modern reader: Today s audience is one in which religious feeling has become, if not
atrophied, at least vaporous and sentimental. But the discrepancies between how O Connor is
often read and how she claimed she should be read cannot simply be explained by her theology
of grace or by the lack of religious feeling among readers. Critical opinion over the years has
tended to line up behind O Connor s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good
Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of
the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O
Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit
theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony rather than on the author s comments, we

Examples Of Revenge In The Count Of Monte Cristo

Revenge Has Penalties Samuel Johnson once said, Revenge is an act of passion; vengeance of
justice. Injuries are revenged; crimes are avenged. He points out that without passion one will not
have one s revenge. Passion is an essential tool to help fuel one s continuous search for revenge to
gain justice. If someone inflicts harm upon another, they should expect retribution coming their
way. This is what occurs in the adventurous, fictional novel The Count of Monte Cristowritten by
Alexandre Dumas. DantГЁs is forced to spend his youthful years in the ChГўteau d lf, a state

his primary one being the Count of Monte Cristo. He is introduced to Franz and Albert by Signor
Pastrini, I suppose you know that the Count of Monte Cristo lives on the same floor as you

Why Do Dogs Chew
The Secrets To Why Do Dogs Chew Chewing is one of the most common habits you will see
mostly in all the dogs. Does not matter which type of breed you own, you will find them
chewing very often. They chew bones, sticks, plastic and some dogs go to extent of chewing
about anything. Sometimes it s cute to see them chew but most of the time it s not the cuteness
that s overloaded. When they chew or bite your laptop charger or your favorite sports shoes you
are not in the state of admiring the cuteness. Instead, you will be out of your mind with
frustration. No matter what, you should never hit or scold your pets. There are lots of reasons
why dogs chew, one reason might be you. Think about it, dogs don t do things just for seek.
There is always a reason behind on every act they do. They might be conveying a message to you.

their strong and sharp smelling sense to detect things, only detecting does not let them understand

Human Impact On Climate Change
The human race all around the world wonders if the climate is changing due to human activity or
if it is just a natural occurrence. At certain parts of the Earth s surface, the climate can be observed
much differently than other locations. As the years go by the average temperature of the Earth
increases by little intervals. There are several different reasons why people believe the climate is
changing every year. However, the increase of worldwide population and production of heat to the
atmosphereis due to the increase of human activities that take place on a daily basis. Human
activity is the main cause of the global climate change. The human impact on climate exceeds any
known changes due to natural processes. The impact of this human activity is often misunderstood
when looking at climate change. Scientists and experts from areas all over give their input on this
major world discussion. These experts all around the world have many different opinions on how
the climate is changing. Each opinion is supported by facts, models, or surveys from major
universities. The models allow scientists to simulate the behavior of climate and how natural and
human factors affect the climate. The 2013 Cook review of 11,944 peer reviewed studies on
climate change found that only 78 studies explicitly rejected the position that humans are
responsible for global warming. A separate review of 13,950 peer reviewed studies on climate

Peaceful Revolutionaries When John F. Kennedy said, those who make peaceful revolution
impossible will make violent revolution inevitable, there were many people who agreed and
disagreed with his statement. I agree with John F. Kennedy because if people/leaders are not

leader who hindered the process of violent revolutions by starting his own peaceful revolution using
civil disobedience and leading a nation to do the same. Similarly, Martin Luther King Jr. was an

I have had guns in my life since I was young. I served eight years in the military, and have shot in

the American people lost that right; it would mean life changes that many would be unwilling to
make. The Bill of Rights are a set of laws, which includes the 2nd Amendment, which helps

The play a streetcar named desire written by an american playwright Tennessee Williams in 1984

After opening the first page of the play and being dragged inside the story, the readers are shown
that the play consist the perfect harmony of contrasts. The new and old era, men s superiority and
women s powerlessness are the main examples. With an extraordinary and yet stunningly interesting
plot line, Tennessee was able to create the characters where each consists various aspect of change

The original play script handles a depressing and stifling story about a woman name blanche who

for change did not exist nor did it include any of the recommendations that Spector (2012) discussed
as effective tools for managing organizational change. Specifically, none of the elements of Kurt
Lewin s three stages of change implementation that Spector discussed as unfreezing, moving, and
refreezing organizational norms were directed. Instead, Command Zulu reorganized without fully
explaining the reasons to the customers (e.g. inspected units). The lack of understanding resulted in
negative relationships for at least a year. Leadership never considered associated risk without a plan

leaders never once conducted dialogue or diagnosis to determine if the organization was ready for

intervention points. Additionally, command Zulu leadership did not implement change in the
correct sequence which Spector (2012) discussed as having the potential of negative results or even

Importance Of Visit To A Shinto Church
I decided to write about my visit to a Shinto Church as my cultural experience. The church I
visited is called Izumo Taisha Mission of Hawaii. I had actually been to this church many times
since I was a child to participate in Japanese cultural events, but I have little knowledge of what the
Shinto religionactually practices. This is also the shrine where my family goes for our New Year s
blessing ritual. Since turning to Christianity, I still liked to attend the church s events and New Year
s ritual, but other than that, I just didn t have the desire to learn more about Shinto. Based on my
fieldwork into the appearance, clothing, and rituals of Shinto, I theorize that Shinto is religion to

multiple God s.
When I visited the church, I had scheduled the meet the Bishop, Daiya Amano. He has been a
friend of my family for a long time, and he was happy to share the Shinto culture despite
knowing I had already chosen my belief. Shinto is one of the two primary religions of Japan,
and the church is a good place for tourist and local Japanese to pay their respects to. Shinto is a
religion of polytheism and animism, and thus, believes in God s of animate and inanimate objects.
Shinto believes that every aspect of life has a God in charge. There s a God of nature, weather,
business, knowledge, war, fishing, etc. Shinto practices a worship to these God s so that they may

The World Of Collegiate Athletics
The world of collegiate athletics was founded upon the ideals of commercialism and is filled with
talented athletes that contain tremendous amounts of potential. Unfortunately, in order to bring in
revenue that serves as crucial funding for their universities nationwide, the NCAA exploits the
talent of these players and justifies this action by assuming the disguise of amateurism while also
managing to adopt an indistinct version of professionalism. Instead, the NCAA spends portions of
its revenue in order to renovate sports facilities and pay members of the coaching staff rather than
providing compensation for the main sources of its revenue the players and the attention that their

By regarding participation in collegiate athletics as a hobby, the NCAA is subtly discrediting both
the hard work and dedication of college athletes. In their defense, the association of college athletics
with the word amateurism is believed to call these athletes to also put an emphasis on their
education. Even though collegiate athletics appear to be managed under the principles of
amateurism and call athletes to focus on their education, it doesn t necessarily mean that most of
these athletes actually want to emphasize education more than athletics. As talented individuals,
college athletes work hard in order to provide success for their respective teams and to properly
ensure their own success at the next level. Not only does an education that is forced upon some of
them detract from their athletic aspirations, but it also makes it highly infeasible for them to
sustain a job that regular college students have the chance to partake in. That is why a small form
of compensation from the NCAA would not only reward them for the mass amounts of revenue
that they bring in, but it would also provide a source of income that could only be obtained if these
athletes were able to pursue job opportunities.

Chinese Response To The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion illustrated a period of turmoil in China s history. The root cause of the uprising
has often been a discussion of debate. There were both internal and external forces that lead up to
the movement and the aftermath resulted in the deaths of Christians and missionaries. The Opium
wars and the Sino Japanese wars would spark hostility toward Western influences and demonstrate
explicit invasion efforts in China. By the end of the 19th century Japan and Western powers would
force the Qing dynastyto accept foreign control over their economic affairs. The Chinese
government s response to the actions of the West would be significant with furthering the conflict.
Despite this, the Boxer rebellion was not against the Qing dynasty. It would play a role in the
decline and eventual elimination of the empire. However, their motives were a reaction against the
West and were an attempt to liberate China from foreign influence.

the second Opium War would occur during 1856 60. This time Britain and France would gain more

considered any series of agreements and treaties that forced the country to concede territorial and

Tort Law Essay
3.1 Described nature of general tortious liability comparing and contrasting to contractual liability
A tort is referred to as a civil or private wrong that may not necessarily be a breach of contract for
which a remedy for damages would be given by a lawsuit. For instance, if an individual neglects
the statutory responsibility to self and others, it will be said that a tort was committed. The
relevance of tort law is driven by legal views of courts, common trends in the society and legal
scholarship.
Tortuous liability is similar to contractual liability in different ways. For example:

It is the liability of an individual/entity for the offence of another.
For example if an employee commits an offence out of negligence and a third party gets injured,
for example a client, such a client will be able to file a suit against the employer even though the
offence was committed by the employee.
In this instance, the liability of the employer is as a result of their voluntary assumption or
supposition of the link with the tortuous behavior of their employees as well as the
responsibilities that result from that connection. The way they decide to delegate the
responsibilities to the employees. In addition, the tort liability that an employer takes for the

Furthermore, misconduct is assumed to have been carried out by an employee while at work for
any of the following reasons: if the misconduct was authorized by the employer or if the act was

The Results Of Gothic Architecture
The results of Gothic architecture in York
In the 12th century architecture saw the progression from Romanesque architecture to the Gothic
era, which saw the forthcoming of the prodigious cathedrals that were to become the architectural
symbol of the middle ages. This was during a time of high aspirations. As well structural
developments Gothic architecture is also associated with a change in thinking and social attitudes
that are represented in numerous ways, essentially appealing to emotions.
After the fall of the Roman Empire the political culture shifted from the feudal system to
monarchy, bringing forth a cultural identity. Poetry and art became more personal and intimate,
giving people individuality. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the
growing confidence of the Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to
reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a
godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him
self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest
substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching
towards heaven. Pointed arches looked towards the sky as the city had no need of the sun, neither
of the moon, to shine on it: for the glory of God did lighten it . (The Bible. Revelation 21:23) The

The Veil Of Oppression Essay
As a Turk, I view the veil as a symbol of oppression and male dominance; as a Spaniard, the veil

When I was asked to cover myself with a burqa at the Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul, my home

succumbing to authority and hiding my body. I offended the confident spirit of the flamenco
dancers that I so admire. In the mosque, I felt entirely Spanish as I came to understand my place

You can seek to customer wants and needs as they always will change, this will make your strategy
driven by customers which will give a competitive edge over others.
Cons:
It will costly to make a new items or products for every people s needs and try to satisfy them
Overall
Study of the Ansoff models informs that there is two key methods to gain more income, for the
growth of the market and evolution of the product. By having a glance at the SWOT that was
conducted in the first assessment, it is evident that it will come into view to have a chance to
develop and grow into the overseas market, such as Asia, however it could be expensive and have
a high risk involved.
пЃ¶By having different ethnic and culture contrasts a method which is substantial also costly to
investigate and analyse what will have to end up doing to start recently developed and newly
discovered flavours.
пЃ¶In NZ, if they market their products well and successfully, doesn t mean that it will have the
equivalent outcome in overseas markets.

Core strategy is to generate a product that is new for weetbix and develop something different.
Nowadays generally consumers look for things that are fresh and new. Weetbix current products are
now having less sales to generic alternative replacements. They should give those alternative

The History of Chemistry Up to the XIX Century Essay
History of chemistry encompasses a span of time reaching from ancient history to the present. By
1000 BC, ancient civilizations used technologies that would eventually form the basis of the
various branches of chemistry. Examples include extracting metals from ores, making pottery and
glazes, fermenting beer and wine, extracting chemicals from plants for medicine and perfume,
rendering fat into soap, making glass, and making alloys like bronze. The protoscience of chemistry
, alchemy, was unsuccessful in explaining the nature of matter and its transformations. However, by
performing experiments and recording the results, alchemists set the stage for modern chemistry.
The distinction began to emerge when a clear differentiation was made... Show more content on

Alchemy was discovered and practised widely throughout the Arab worlds after the Muslim
Conquest, and from there, diffused into medieval and Rennaissance Europe through Latin
translations. Under the influence of the new empirical methods propounded by Sir Francis Bacon
and others, a group of chemists at Oxford, Robert Boyle, Robert Hooke and John Mayow began to
reshape the old achemical traditions into a scientific discipline. Boyle in particular is regarded as
the founding father of chemistry due to his most important work, the classic chemistry text The
Sceptical Chymist where the differentiation is made between the claims of alchemy and the
empirical scientific discoveries of the new chemistry. He formulated Boyle s law, rejected the
classical four elements and proposed a mechanistic alternative of atoms and chemical reactions that
could be subject to rigorous experiment. The theory of phlogiston (a substance at the root of all
combustion) was propounded by the German Georg Ernst Stahl in the early 18th century and was
only overturned by the end of the century by the French chemist Antoine Lavoisier, the chemical
analogue of Newton in physics; who did more than any other to

Summary Of The Burning Of Bridget Cleary
The Burning of Bridget Cleary by Angela Bourke tells the investigation of a death of an ill
woman whom was believed to have been abducted and later killed by fairies. The young vibrant
Bridget Cleary became suddenly ill after receiving a chill while traveling to a relative s house.
After walking a total of 8 miles in the cold she later fell sick with bronchitis and pneumonia.
These signs of weakness spread rumors around a small town with a population roughly around
100 people. Suddenly Bridget Cleary went missing, and her body was found a few days after she
reportedly walked out of the house to later return. The Burning of Bridget Cleary by Angela
Bourke asserts that the burning of Bridget for being a fairy was a response to anxiety and fear...

Bridget was a physically attractive women and she was above average when it came to
intelligence and wealth. Women who are extremely attractive were threatening to other women.
The men of the community were more than fond of Bridget many people personally knew her
and interacted with her. Bridget is described as, [a]ttractive, according to other accounts also,
and evidently a strong personality, she was well known around her home area, and not just
among the laborers she was well acquainted with the people in her community (Bourke 45). Her
strong personality and her attractive made her a threat to other people. Willingness to speak her
mind was against the social normality during this time in Ireland. Women were to be
housewives rather a normal person. Women who were not playing their roles in society were
often accused of being fairies. Bridget inspired anxiety towards other people due to her looks
and her knowledge. Therefore when she fell ill the idea of making her a person abducted by
fairies was not farfetched. Bridget was seen differently than most people in society, the
identification of protesters as fairies is symbolic of the way they position themselves outside, or
opposed to, mainstream society, Bridget was considered an outside for all her knowledge and
beauty (Letcher_________). She was defying the social standards by growing with knowledge and

The value of objective and subjective evidence in understanding mental health conditions
It is important to consider both subjective and objective evidences to gain a comprehensive picture
of any mental health condition. I am going to demonstrate through examples how parallel
considerations can be used by clinicians to gain a full understanding of mental health disorders.
Subjective evidence is how the patient interprets the working of his own mind. It includes what he
reports about his thoughts and feelings including any uncomfortable sensations or distressing
thoughts. Objective evidence on the other hand is measurable. It comprises of any signs of the
illness that can be observed by a third person and any abnormality that has a ... Show more content

He takes into consideration not only the patient s mental state but also the patient s general physical
health, psychosocial or environmental problems, their ability to integrate into society and take care
of themselves.
Subjective evidence includes the thoughts and feelings of the patient. It comprises of the
symptoms the patient is reporting and the level of distress he is experiencing. A patient suffering
from depression for example might report symptoms of having dark thoughts, feeling blue, can
complain of persistent low mood, outbursts of crying, decreased appetite and activity levels, lack
of sleep. These are all examples of subjective evidence. Objective evidence about the condition
includes any signs noticeable to the clinician that can be taken as an indication of mental disease.
This can include slumped posture, poor hygiene, scruffy appearance, sadness, crying, sighing or
pacing. Lack of appetite can be a symptom a depressed person is complaining about, while the
amount of weight loss is measurable and objective. Aches, pains and flulike symptoms may not
have any biological basis in the body but can be psychosomatic manifestations of the depression.
Moreover depression usually accompanies many severe, long term conditions.
During the psychological assessment the clinician gathers all information about a patient s medical
health and mental health history, collects information from immediate family members, looks

The Architecture Of The Golden Temple
The Architecture
The Golden Temple, Harmandir Sahib is special because it is the only temple that builds in the
middle of square tanks and there is water all around the temple. Besides that, it is famous for its
architectures and the glittering combination of pure gold domes and pure white marble. In
addition, the exterior of the temple is covered with gold and it is looks amazingly beautiful
compared with other temple. The dome of temples is gilded with 750 kg of pure gold. After
that, there are 100kg of gold were applied and decorative marble was added to the inverted Lotus
shaped dome. The interior of the temple also decorated with gold. Next, the Golden Temple has
four different directions entrances which symbolizes people from four directions of the earth are
welcome to enter the temple. Lastly, the architecture of the Golden Temple draws and paints on
both Hindu and Muslim artistic styles. It represents a unique co evolution of the two styles. Last
but not least, most of the temples have statues inside or outside of the temple, but Golden temple
do not have any statues of any demi gods or goddesses (Tejwant Singh, 2014). Most of the
decorations are fresh flowers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis
Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of
DAG Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains
were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1
strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed
by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated
by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1
was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and
Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors
wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide
were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1
was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min
/mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In
order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured
when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone,
which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were added, Pkc1 activity decreased
by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected because phtyoceramide is an
inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2:

Confidence In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Confidence wins confidence. Individuals who demonstrate self confidence easily impress others
and earn their respect and cooperation, even their discipleship. In the romance Sir Gawain and the
Green Knight by the Pearl Poet, Sir Gawain confidently coasts on the merits of his reputation until
he is tried and discovers that he is unprepared for failure when he succumbs to temptation.
One cause of Gawain s confidence is his reputation as a great fighter. Among Arthur s knights
Gawain is reputed to be the best; in fact, he is recognized by his brother knights as the greatest
among them. Since the greatest warrior is he others strive to measure themselves against, Gawain
has likely jousted against those of the Round Table as well as newcomers to the court; therefore,
when the Green Knight comes to challenge a member of Arthur s court, Gawain is the likely
target. Yet, his history of ease in victory has only contributed to Gawain s complacency. If he is to
fight the Green Knight, he could trust in his skill, but the unexpected trial is that Gawain is not to
fight the evil giant; he is to deliver a blow against a passive opponent. This scenario has never
occurred in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

God. He believes that God decides the victor in each encounter, rewarding the just man over the
unjust and promoting the righteous cause over the dubious one. Because he knows the degree of
his faith and fidelity and because he has always risen victorious, Gawain trusts that God approves
of him and is his bulwark in all endeavors. Yet, in standing for the Green Knight s blow, Gawain
sees no element of justice, no chance for God to reward the worthy. Therefore, confidence in his

Romantic Ballet Vs Classical Ballet
Dance critic ThГ©ophile Gautier states, Nothing resembles a dream more than a ballet... (Anderson
77). The effortless technique of the ballerina paints most ballets as exactly this. Consequently, there
is more to a ballet than technique and dancing. Different types of ballets and their structural
components separate one balletfrom the next. It is important to understand the difference between
the two main types of ballets: Romantic Ballet and Classical Ballet. Romantic ballet in the 19th
century differs from Classical ballet in the 20th century structurally, technically, and socially. The
two danceforms also vary in costumes and narrative. However, with all of those differences, they

ballet emerged and allowed an escape for the dancers and audience from the distress due to the
falling of the French Revolution. The following century brought a deeper understanding of
Classical ballet via the Ballet Russes. The Ballet Russes allowed a freer expression and an overall
appreciation of dance alongside other art forms. However, with all of those differences, they both

Design Of The Guidance And Control Missile System
During the design of the guidance and control missile system, the missile mathematical modeling is
one of the most important steps. In this chapter, the mathematical model of the missile will be
structure using six equations of motion to represent the motion of a body with six degrees of
freedom, three force equationsand three moment equations [6, 7]. Definitions of coordinate systems
Two coordinate systems can be defined to describe the movement of missile: the earth fixed
coordinate system and the body coordinate system. The two coordinate systems are right handed.
Earth fixed coordinate system (ECS)
The axes X_E and Y_E point to the directions north and east respectively, and are located on a
plane tangent to the surface of the earth. Consequently, axis Z_E point down the center of the earth,
according to the rule of law. In the literature, this coordinate system is also called the local
coordinate system or northeast down (NED). Body coordinate system (BCS)
This coordinate system is assumed to be fixed to the flight vehicle center of gravity and moving
there with. The axis X_B advanced forward through the nose, axis Y_B through the wing starboard
(right) and the axis Z_B down. Coordinate transformation system
The transformation T_BE the coordinate system fixed ground the axes of the system coordinates
of the missile body axes is performed by a yaw rotation, pitch, and roll around the longitudinal axis,
lateral, and normal ( vertical), respectively .

  • 3. The Foster Family Character Analysis Living with family can make life rather complex, especially when dealing with problems, because this group of people are so close to each other emotionally. It s hard to keep secrets or keep things behind doors because there s not really a door that can t be opened by everyone. This is especially true with children and teens going through the ropes of high school. Finding the balance of when a child needs to be disciplined by the parents and when to let the child be more independent with their problem solving or even finding a way to have everyone connect to each other while also providing a comfortable space or bit of a distance from each other can be a hard task for everyone, especially if there are multiple individuals within the family. This example of a family s interesting dynamics that come about can be seen in a show called, The Fosters. In this show, the Foster family lives in San Diego where Stef Foster and Lena Adams (in later seasons being Lena Adams Foster) parent five children, four of them being foster children and one coming from a previous marriage. The children s names are Brandon (17yrs old), who is the oldest, Mariana (16) and Jesus (16), who are twins that were adopted after Stef and Lena got together, and Callie (17) and Jude (13) who are siblings that both got adopted. Stef is the birth mother of Brandon, coming from a previous relationshipwith another charater named Mike. Just like any typical American family with children, Stef and Lena deal ... • 4. Massachusetts Bay Colonies Research Paper One of the main reasons English citizens moved to America was the prospect of freedom from from religious persecution. Many colonies were founded solely to be a safe haven for religious minorities. For instance, Massachusetts was founded by a segment of extreme Puritans called, in hopes of practice their religionwithout being harassed. The Separatists believed the Church of Englandmaintained too many similarities with the Catholic Church, and it was their job, as saints, to purify it. Their religious beliefs angered many people, especially King James, who was the head of the Church of England at that time. A large group of the Separatists settled in Massachusetts, hoping to practice their religious beliefs without harassment. For instance, the Puritans, who ironically were the religious minority in their own colony, were the only ones allowed to run public affairs. Only two fifths of the population was actually Puritan, as the other percentage of the population moved for access to the fertile West Indies. Although the rules system set up by the colonists was one of the earliest instances of some sort of government run by the people, the Bay colony was far from a democracy, due to the exclusive nature of the elections. Another example of the effect religion had on the Bay colony government was evident through the fact that certain powers were denied to Even though said leaders had control over who was granted attendance to church, or those who were deemed to be damned , religious leaders were unable to hold a position in the government. Since religious leaders and government officials in the Bay colony both held similar measures of power, this natural system of balances was instated to prevent either religious or political leaders from becoming too ... • 5. How Did Julius Caesar Invade Britain Intro Roman Britain, or Britannia, was the name of England and Wales when they were ruled by the Romans. Julius Caesar was the first of the Roman emperors to invade Britain. The native Britons were overrun by other Celtic tribes. These tribes however aided Caesar s enemies, thus the need to invade Britain. But it wasn t until a hundred years later that the Romans actually ruled Roman Britain, thanks to the defenses of the Celtic tribes. Culture The Romans brought culture to Ancient Britain. They built brick and stone buildings with central heating, sewage systems, paved roads, libraries etc. The Romans also brought their language to Britain: Latin. Housing The floor on which someone lived depended on his or her income. The lower apartments ground or first floor were more comfortable than the top floors. They were spacious, had separate rooms for dining and sleeping, they had windows and had access to running water. The higher floors however usually housed an entire family per room. There was no natural light, no running water and thus no private toilets. Instead, they often had to use public toilets, or dump their waste outside. The wealthiest residents lived in private villas, close to the imperial palace. They consisted of a shop at the front of the villa, and an atrium connected to many... • 7. Social Issue Of Teen Pregnancy History of the Problem: The issue of teen pregnancy in the United States first garnered the public s attention in the 1950s. Beginning with the Carter administration, every succeeding presidential administration highlights teen pregnancy as social issue that needs to be addressed (Furstenberg, 2007). The issue of teen pregnancywas first noted in the early 1950s. In Post WWII America, birth rates rose at a staggering rate among all women (Colby, 2014). In this time period, marriage and child bearing were still inextricably linked and marriage among teens also rose. Due to teens tendency to marry due to an unintended pregnancy, the issue of teen pregnancy did not gain much attention during this decade. During the 1960s, however, childbearing of women of all ages declined but much more so in older American women (Furstenberg, 2007). During this decade teens were still bearing children and at a much higher rate than their older female counterparts. This was due, in part, to the fact that teen pregnancy was usually unintended and therefore harder to manage with the contraceptive that were available at the time (Furstenberg, 2007). During this time period, it was also much harder to marry at a young age. Age of consent laws, the age that an individual can legally consent to sexual activity, have largely remained unchanged since the 1920s (Robertson, 2007). Age of consent laws vary from state to state but range from 14 to 18 in the United States (Robertson, 2007). The age for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nursing Shortage in Maryland and How does it Effect Healthcare Renita Scott March 17, 2015 PUAD 751.TW1 Sp15 What is the nursing shortage and why does it exist in Maryland? The History of Nursing The practice of nursing started in the past around the Middle Ages, where women in primitive societies where made to take care of the sick whether they wanted to or not. For example, in Ethiopia among the Zuni tribe, if a baby is born with part of the placenta covering the face, it was taken as a sign that the baby would be marked as one destined to become a caregiver. (Henly Moss, 2007). In many societies, nurses were mostly untrained women who helped deliver babies or were wet nurses. According to The History of Nursing (2013) religious figures like nuns had more training and cared for the sick. However, by the 13th through the 16th centuries, religious orders felt as if it was their duty to care for the physical needs of people as well as their spiritual needs and formed sisterhoods to carry out this mission. In 1645, Jeanne Mance, a nurse from France, established the Hotel Dieu de Montreal in Canada, the first hospital in North America. By the 18th century, the United States was beginning to realize the need for organized nursing services. In 1751, Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Thomas Bond opened Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation s first hospital. It served the poor and homeless in Philadelphia. • 12. Family Is The Traditional African Proverb Essay Family Community Involvement in Education The traditional African proverb, It takes a village to raise a child, has been widely quoted for years stating the whole community takes a role in raising a child. Its clear message still holds true for today the entire community shapes the growth and development of its young people. Aside from the vital roles of family members and teachers, community members are also responsible to assure high quality education and student success. According to the article Parent, Family, Community Involvement in Education published by National Education Association, when schools, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn higher grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher level programs (National Education Association, 2008). Educators know that, while they take their professional responsibility seriously, they depend on and need the support from parents and members of the community for students to achieve their highest quality education. The game starts and right away you can tell it s going to be a rough game. The referee starts calling everything against you and nothing for you. There isn t anything you can do. You will for sure lose the game. Soccer is a very great sport but, it has FIFA corruption, illegal transfers, and fixed matches. FIFA corruption happens because of the desire of money. FIFA original mission was to support the growth and spread of soccer. They try to achieve this by hosting competitions at all levels and ages. Fifa promotes soccer through campaigns against discrimination in the lines of race, politics, and religion. ( What is FIFA? ) For the most part they have been very good at the spread and growth of soccer. One way they helped spread soccer is letting different countries host the World Cup. After letting Africa and America host it, soccer was growing very fast around the world. They have done pretty good in the discrimination part because they usually ban a player or fan if they are found discriminating against someone. Although they do these really great things sometimes FIFA will go against their mission and be corrupt. Earlier this month, I got to see the Cleopatra crew performed and it was an astonishing experience. I lived here in New Orleans for nine years, but I have never participated in a parade before. Even though it was a popular culture, I was always too lazy to go. This year I wanted to do something more than just staying home and play game, I wanted to go out and experience the atmosphere, but more specifically I wanted to experience the Mardi Grasatmosphere. I wanted to go to a parade that was not very crowded, so I picked the Krewe of Cleopatra. It was perfect for a beginner at going to parade. It was not packed with people and it was a somewhat famous parade. It was an all female parade, so I felt a bit awkward for attending it, but I was mistaken. I arrived there an hour ahead in order to find a parking spot. There I saw other men and it was not as awkward as I initially thought it would be. Once the floats were coming down from the street and I can see the women standing on top throwing beads into the crowd. These floats were filled with different colors and the women were dressed in black. The crowd was getting rowdy and I could barely stand still. Once the float came by I managed to catch some. Shootings, rape, kidnappings, and cheating seem to be all over the media today. However, they do not focus on what actually happened, but instead on who is the victim and who is the villain. Has sexismchanged since 1692 and what beliefs about it stayed the same? Adultery, slut shaming are examples of how sexism still prevail as an issue that women must face, however, the social effect today is still worse for women than men. Rumors spread around about a girl who cheated on her boyfriend with a person at a different school. It was true because the girl told me herself and she got a lot of disrespect due to the fact that she cheated. Although, the boyfriend cheated as well and really did not face too many problems. To continue, Kristen Stewart cheated multiple times on her boyfriend Robert Pattinson. Kristen cheated with the director of her movie Snow White and the Huntsmen. Pattinson allegedly tried his hardest to forgive and forget but eventually that relationship ended. Additionally, the cheating also broke up the director and his wife as well. To start, almost all the blogs and stories about cheating say Kristen Stewart cheats on Robert. Barely any mention that the director cheated on his wife and they had already had two kids. Cheating is wrong either way, but it is a lot worse to have children that find out their father was not faithful to their mother. However, it is barely mentioned that he did such a preposterous thing, not just to one person like Kristen but three. Kristen still faces much hate for doing this while no one really speaks about the director. It can be said because Kristen and Robert were a more known couple than the director, Rupert Sanders, and his wife, but that does not change the fact that it takes two people to cheat. Both spouses were devastated yet only one of the cheaters was really blamed for the cheating that took place. It is unjust that women usually become bigger disgraces then men when they cheat. Oscar Wilde was known for being quite humorous and he shows this throughout the story. This story has grown to be very popular and has been made into countless stage productions and even three films. The Importance of being Earnest can thank its humor and hysterical tone for making it into the widely known and loved play that it is today. One type of humor that is found in The Importance of Being Earnest is inversion humor. Inversion humor is when someone goes against logical reasoning and says expressions that make little to no sense at all. In inversion humor, the end of the phrase being said is typically the opposite of what you expect to be said, and is very unpredictable. One of many instances where this type of humor is found is when Cecily says, I don t like novels that end happily. They depress me so much (Wilde, Act II P.2311). As you can see she begins with saying she does not like happy endings and then contradicts the meaning of the word happy and says that they depress her. Some readers of A Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor set out, quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the importance of the grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained how violence and grace come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of Grace, the moment when you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment when the Grandmother realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. Critical opinion over the years has tended to line up behind O Connor s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony rather than on the author s comments, we shall have to admit that the Catholic orthodoxy of her work is at least debatable And Frederick Asals recalls D. It reflected the social sustainability of the modern age and the growing confidence of the Christian Church of Rome, which successfully lead crusades to reclaim the Holy land from the Islamic occupants. The representation of Christ changed from a godlike hero in the battle between good and evil to a tortured human figure that sacrificed him self on the cross for the sins of mankind. To respond, architects believed that light was the closest substance to God s true presence and focused on making a network of ribs and vaults reaching towards heaven. Pointed arches looked towards the sky as the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine on it: for the glory of God did lighten it . (The Bible. • 39. The Veil Of Oppression Essay As a Turk, I view the veil as a symbol of oppression and male dominance; as a Spaniard, the veil is a beautiful accessory worn by passionate female flamenco dancers to emphasize character. When I was asked to cover myself with a burqa at the Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul, my home city, I sensed a growing uneasiness as a hot blooded Spaniard in Istanbul s most respected location. Clearly displaced, I felt as if I was insulting my Spanish family by ultimately succumbing to authority and hiding my body. I offended the confident spirit of the flamenco dancers that I so admire. In the mosque, I felt entirely Spanish as I came to understand my place as a knot between the Middle Eastern and Spanish sides of my family. The veil of oppression is their fuel for protest and activism; it is the same fight against oppression that forced my ancestors to escape Crete and find refuge within Turkey s walls. The fervor and life that I experience when in Spain is particularly appealing whenever I visit Madrid or Sevilla. However, the same passion and excitement so prevalent in the city is particularly absent in my Spanish family. Rather than embracing their connection to Spain s daily vigor and movement, my family has isolated itself within their aristocracy and is submerged in depression and distanced affection. As I refine my relations with each country, I use my Turkish family s strength as a means to inspire my own purpose. The contradictions within my family form a transient veil that divides the two countries, but the disparity is just as important to me as ephemeral overlaps in tradition between my ... • 42. The History of Chemistry Up to the XIX Century Essay History of chemistry encompasses a span of time reaching from ancient history to the present. By 1000 BC, ancient civilizations used technologies that would eventually form the basis of the various branches of chemistry. Examples include extracting metals from ores, making pottery and glazes, fermenting beer and wine, extracting chemicals from plants for medicine and perfume, rendering fat into soap, making glass, and making alloys like bronze. The protoscience of chemistry , alchemy, was unsuccessful in explaining the nature of matter and its transformations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alchemy was discovered and practised widely throughout the Arab worlds after the Muslim Conquest, and from there, diffused into medieval and Rennaissance Europe through Latin translations. Under the influence of the new empirical methods propounded by Sir Francis Bacon and others, a group of chemists at Oxford, Robert Boyle, Robert Hooke and John Mayow began to reshape the old achemical traditions into a scientific discipline. Boyle in particular is regarded as the founding father of chemistry due to his most important work, the classic chemistry text The Sceptical Chymist where the differentiation is made between the claims of alchemy and the empirical scientific discoveries of the new chemistry. He formulated Boyle s law, rejected the classical four elements and proposed a mechanistic alternative of atoms and chemical reactions that could be subject to rigorous experiment. The theory of phlogiston (a substance at the root of all combustion) was propounded by the German Georg Ernst Stahl in the early 18th century and was only overturned by the end of the century by the French chemist Antoine Lavoisier, the chemical analogue of Newton in physics; who did more than any other to ... The value of objective and subjective evidence in understanding mental health conditions It is important to consider both subjective and objective evidences to gain a comprehensive picture of any mental health condition. I am going to demonstrate through examples how parallel considerations can be used by clinicians to gain a full understanding of mental health disorders. Subjective evidence is how the patient interprets the working of his own mind. It includes what he reports about his thoughts and feelings including any uncomfortable sensations or distressing thoughts. Objective evidence on the other hand is measurable. A patient suffering from depression for example might report symptoms of having dark thoughts, feeling blue, can complain of persistent low mood, outbursts of crying, decreased appetite and activity levels, lack of sleep. These are all examples of subjective evidence. Objective evidence about the condition includes any signs noticeable to the clinician that can be taken as an indication of mental disease. This can include slumped posture, poor hygiene, scruffy appearance, sadness, crying, sighing or pacing. Lack of appetite can be a symptom a depressed person is complaining about, while the amount of weight loss is measurable and objective. Aches, pains and flulike symptoms may not have any biological basis in the body but can be psychosomatic manifestations of the depression. Moreover depression usually accompanies many severe, long term conditions. • 46. Oxidative Stress Key Research Data and Analysis Key Research Data and Analysis Study 1: Ipc1 controls the Pkc1 activation by modulation of DAG Regulation of DAG and phytoceramide by Ipc1. When Wild type and GAL7::IPC1 strains were exposed to galactose and glucose, DAG (activator of PKC1) levels in the GAL7::IPC1 strain increased when IPC1 was induced by galactose, and decreased when IPC1 was repressed by glucose. Furthermore, phytoceramide levels were increased when IPC1 was down regulated by glucose in the GAL7::IPC1 strain. In both wild type strains, no change was seen when IPC1 was up or down regulated, as expected (Fig. 2). PKC1 activity in relation to DAG and Phytoceramide exposure. Since IPC1 regulates DAG and phytoceramide levels, the authors wanted to explore if DAG or phytoceramide can control PKC1 activity. DAG or phytoceramide were delivered in Triton x 100 lipid micelles and histone phosphorylation by recombinant PKC1 was measured in absence or presence of lipids. Without lipids, Pkc1 activity was 31.5 pmol/min /mg. When DAG subspecies were added, Pkc1 activity increased up to two fold (Fig. 3A). In order to make sure kinase activity measured was specific to Pkc1, APP1 activity was measured when exposed to DAG subspecies and as expected, did not cause phosphorylation of histone, which was expected (Fig. 3B). When phytoceramide lipids were added, Pkc1 activity decreased by about 50% compared to no phytoceramide, which was expected because phtyoceramide is an inhibitor of Pkc1 (Fig. 3C). Study 2: ... In the romance Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by the Pearl Poet, Sir Gawain confidently coasts on the merits of his reputation until he is tried and discovers that he is unprepared for failure when he succumbs to temptation. One cause of Gawain s confidence is his reputation as a great fighter. Among Arthur s knights Gawain is reputed to be the best; in fact, he is recognized by his brother knights as the greatest among them. Since the greatest warrior is he others strive to measure themselves against, Gawain has likely jousted against those of the Round Table as well as newcomers to the court; therefore, when the Green Knight comes to challenge a member of Arthur s court, Gawain is the likely target. Yet, his history of ease in victory has only contributed to Gawain s complacency. In this chapter, the mathematical model of the missile will be structure using six equations of motion to represent the motion of a body with six degrees of freedom, three force equationsand three moment equations [6, 7]. Definitions of coordinate systems Two coordinate systems can be defined to describe the movement of missile: the earth fixed coordinate system and the body coordinate system. The two coordinate systems are right handed. Earth fixed coordinate system (ECS) The axes X_E and Y_E point to the directions north and east respectively, and are located on a plane tangent to the surface of the earth. Consequently, axis Z_E point down the center of the earth, according to the rule of law. In the literature, this coordinate system is also called the local coordinate system or northeast down (NED). Body coordinate system (BCS) This coordinate system is assumed to be fixed to the flight vehicle center of gravity and moving there with. The axis X_B advanced forward through the nose, axis Y_B through the wing starboard (right) and the axis Z_B down.
