Personal Essay Tips
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Personal Essay Tips" presents a unique set of challenges. The
difficulty lies not only in articulating one's personal experiences and insights but also in offering
valuable advice to a diverse audience. The balance between sharing personal anecdotes and
providing universally applicable tips requires careful consideration.
Firstly, delving into one's own experiences can be a vulnerable process. Striking the right tone to
connect with readers emotionally while maintaining a sense of professionalism is a delicate task.
The challenge is not only in narrating personal stories but also in ensuring they resonate with a
broader audience. It's crucial to avoid becoming too self-indulgent or veering off into tangents
that may lose the reader's interest.
Additionally, offering practical advice demands a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Distilling personal lessons into universally applicable tips requires thoughtful analysis and a keen
awareness of the audience's needs. Ensuring that the advice is relevant, actionable, and
beneficial to a diverse readership adds another layer of complexity.
Moreover, the structure of the essay is pivotal in conveying the message effectively. Creating a
cohesive narrative that seamlessly weaves personal experiences with insightful tips can be
challenging. Striking a balance between storytelling and offering guidance without sounding
didactic or preachy is a fine line to tread.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Personal Essay Tips" demands a delicate interplay between
personal vulnerability, practical advice, and effective communication. Balancing these elements
while maintaining an engaging and cohesive structure is no small feat.

Conversion Of Alcohols To Alkyl Halides Lab Report
During this experiment, four methods were using in the conversion of alcohols to
alkyl halides. These steps were reflux, distillation, separation and drying.
This experiment consisted of four major steps: reflux, distillation, separation, and
drying. A reflux condenser has water flow from bottom to top with the top being
connected to the flask being heated and the bottom connected to an empty flask to
collect distillate. Reflux is where the solution is heated to boil and returns the
condensing vapors into a flask without losing solution due to evaporation. Reflux was
used in this experiment to provide activation energy needed (heat) to obtain and retain
the products, which could not happen without being heated. Distillation is when a ...

Deducing peak assignments of the NMR spectra for each product required
understanding the structure of the compound. The peaks represent different types
of hydrogens and where the hydrogens reside in a compound s structure. Also,
when hydrogens are close to an electronegative atom, this will cause the peak for
those nearby hydrogens to be upfield on the NMR. Shape of the peak is determined
by the N+1 rule, where the number of neighboring non equivalent hydrogens plus
one will determine the number of lines a peak will have, forming a shape. Then
using the integration number that is generated by a computer can help find the
number of hydrogens are present for each peak. Extra peaks that were found in the

and is the accepted standard zero for NMR spectra. Other peaks found in the NMR

Emergence: The Connected Lived of Ants, Brains, and Software by Steven Johnson
In the introduction of the book Johnson begins by giving a narrative about the role
that slime mold took in discovering emergent behavior. Biologist in time have
struggled to answer questions as to how these organisms work together. The main
concern about these emerging organisms was whether or not there was a controlling
member who directed all other members in each of the communities. More than
likely, the possible solution for any of these communities to show some sense of order
would be if there were a controlling unit or what Johnson mentions as controlling
agents that would be in charge of keeping the community in harmony.
So how exactly has the findings about slime mold given to science? Based on what
I have interpreted about the book I can say Johnson s narrative on how we find
connection through emergent complex living systems would be when he begins
describing about the early work of Charles Darwin when made his evolutionary
discoveries at the Galapagos Islands. Because of his observational skills, which
mainly focused on natural selection and factors that would lead to a species to want
to evolve due to survival, this lead to wanting to understand more about what would
be the true reason to want to create emergence. The art of observation soon followed
later in Johnson s timeline when he gives a
King Lear by William Shakespeare
Blindness is a theme that we see throughout King Lear in many characters
including King Lear, Gloucester and Albany. Although blindness is a theme it is
also a psychological metaphor and can be defined as not having sight.2 Shakespeare
forces us to see that being blind is a mental flaw just as much as it is a physical flaw.
Lear is not only metaphorically blind but is also blind toward nastiness and loyalty .
We see Gloucester s blindness in more literal terms as he is literally blind but he can
still see, and Albany has a more common form of blindness, as he is blind to his wife.
These characters are only able to see after a tragic loss.
However the person in the play that is more significantly blind is King Lear. His role
was to distinguish between good and evil, but due to his in ability to see he is not
able to do just so. Lear s first encounter with blindness was at the beginning of the
play when he was fooled by his two older daughters lies and was not able to see the
true love that Cordelia had for him, resulting in King Lear banishing her from his
kingdom. As shown in the play for we have no such daughter, nor shall ever see that
face again. Therefore be gone without our grace, our love, our benison (1.1. 265
267).3
King Lear s blindness also lead to the banishing of Kent, because Kent saw the true
love Cordelia had for her father and was trying to protect her from his irrationality.
Kent then disguised himself and was hired as a servant by King Lear. This proves
Promote Americanism Research Paper
How would i promote americanism? I would say doing the right things in life like
staying with the right people and not getting into the things you probably shouldn
t get into like being over whelmed by doing drugs or smoking cigarettes. Many
people in the world are always being influenced by the wrong person at the wrong
time. In a way people are making our world worse and worse. Thats why we need
to stay on the right path and be the person you want to be. They way that i think we
all are promoting americanism is being the person you are and growing up to do
things for the world and make it a better place. I see teachers all over the place and i
think thats a true american when they were kids i believe they had the idea to grow

A urinalysis is a test which evaluates a sample of urine. This examination is used to
detect and estimate various abnormal conditions, such as kidney disease, urinary tract
infections, and even diabetes. A urinalysis includes investigating the appearance,
concentration, and content of the urine. By evaluating these aspects of urine, one can
assess the overall health, diagnose a medical condition, or monitor a medical
condition of an individual (WCCC.).

The amount of glucose detected in the urine was 500 mg/d, measuring above the
norm of 130 180 mg/d. A high glucose concentration could be associated with
calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate. High levels of glucose may occur with
diabetes, renal glycosuria, and pregnancy. A follow up test for diabetes may be
given for these reasons. There was a small indication of bilirubin in the urine
sample which should normally pass into the liver. Presence of bilirubin cold
indicate live damage or diseases such as hepatitis. No ketones were found in the
urine we sampled which is normal. The specific gravity of the urine reflects the
patient s hydration status and the sample measured a normal 1.030. In the urine
sample there was a trace amount of blood found. This could require additional
resting for a sign of kidney damage or infection, kidney or bladder stones or cancer,
and blood disorders. Blood also creates a change in the color of urine, perhaps this
had something to do with the abnormal coloring of the urine sample. The PH and
urobilinogen were both identified as normal by the test. A trace amount leukocytes
were identified in the urine. A small amount of leukocytes are normal and expelled in
the urine when they are damaged or killed when fighting an infection. A high number
of leukocytes may show signs of infection in the urinary system and create cloudy and
foul smelling urine. A positive
Dissent Vs Majority Research Paper
Women s suffrage, Civil Rights, LGBT rights etc, these abolitionists of all kinds
have for years fought against the majority in order to achieve a level playing field.
In America, when the majority is challenged and refuted change has room to
flourish which leads to a resolution. A disagreement needs to be fueled on both
sides. Look at it like a game of rock em sock em both players have to emit force in
order to compete with the other but the player who puts out the strongest force wins.
That s how it is with dissent vs. disagreement. Disagreement creates the division
between the majority and the minority, those who are for and those who are against.
Though, the force is fueled by dissent, the minority with emotion, doctrines and
decrees... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all famous conflicts there is an affirmative and a negative with one holding the
majority. Also in all famous cases the majority holds the upper hand and withholds
the idea/thing the minority wants to change in the palms. In the definition of the
word is the idea that dissent is for those who fall apart from others who don t get
treated like the norm. This is when dissent transforms and progresses their thirst for
development of the issue. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a long
train of back and forth in order to try to achieve the equal rights the majority held
and the minority wanted. Boorstin claims that disagreement is the lifeblood of
democracy though if those fighting for freedom sat around a table and disagreed it s
possible they could have argued forever and never seen any change. Though woman
like Rosa Parks dissented the mistreatment, and dissented those who tried to make
her less than. Her choice to stand up sparked the larger movement of the bus

Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay
INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the
identification of a state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea
force which fills man s brain and heart with new thoughts and sentiments and
drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized action (Agarwal,
1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and
the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different
countries of the world could achieve their independence. On the contrary,
aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country. World War I and World War
II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is concerned with
justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with
injustice or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the
people of a country. With this national feeling, people of a country can make the
cultural, political and economic development. Nationalism takes different forms at
different stages of the process of development of a nation or state (Karim, 1992).
There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and
religions live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism.
Bangladesh has a historical legacy of its nationalism. The people of Bangladesh had
started struggling for the independence from 1857. Lords of Britain had suppressed
us a lot but we did not lose our courage
Epidemic of Violence in the USA Essay
Violence, one of the biggest problem in the world right now, especially in America,
where the gun control law are barely enforced, every citizen is at constant risk,
considering the amount of people in this country that own guns. Crime and violence
are rapidly becoming the prime epidemic in the U.S today, but what can we do to
ensure our future generation s safety? Gun violence is a big problem everywhere, in
poor rural neighborhoods to prosperous urban cities like Malibu, it can happen
anywhere at any time. The most deadly cases happen in suburban areas where no one
would suspect any thing would happen, these areas are the prime target for mass
shootings. Some of the most known tragic events include the Columbine massacre...

It angered a lot of people but unless the congress sees it the way the citizens sees it,
this is a problem that is not easy to solve. Fifteen of the twenty five worst mass
shootings in the last decade worldwide occurred in the United States of America.
This is really telling people something about our country, it says people with guns
are crazy and dangerous and America has a lot of it. Even though more guns don t
necessarily mean more murders, the amount of unregistered guns out in the public
is a real issue that cannot be ignored. About sixty percent of people in the U.S own
guns, the estimated number of guns legally owned by civilians is 270,000,000 to
310,000,000 (FBI), and that s not counting all the illegally owned firearms. When
asked why they need guns, most Americans say that its part of their rights and
amendments, to protect themselves and their family. If most people with guns just
want to protect themselves, why do so many people die every year from gun
violence? The answer is all the illegal firearms that land in the hands of criminals
and psychopaths. Because of the almost non existing rules and regulations, it is very
easy for someone to illegally acquire a gun. These people get guns either from a
corrupt dealer, private gun sales or a method these criminals call straw purchasing ,
the most common way a criminal obtain firearms. This is when someone

SUSPENSE IN THE...
HOW DOES CHARLES DICKENS CREATE SUSPENSE IN THE SIGNAL MAN?
Dickens creates suspense in the signal man by keeping us interested in a number of
ways. He portrays the mysterious and deadly setting, the introduction of the signal
man and the impression of the narrator fully. He also describes the spooky sight of
the first ghost, the unusual second appearance of a ghost and the death aboard the
train.
Dickens presents the setting of his story vividly. Often, he uses such personification
as angry sunset ; to show that the narrator may be angry as the sun would be
blazing down in his eyes. This helps create suspense and make us want to read more.
Immediately in the book, we are shown the setting. It is described as a deep ... Show

The narrator believes that he is exact and ingulant and the safest of men employed ,
which starts to build our curiosity not only of the man as he is gloomy and exact, but
the plot. We start to expect that something bad will happen and even a major twist in
the plot.
In addition, we are told that he perused the fixed eyes and that the signal man gave
grave dark regards which adds more to our little understanding of the mysterious
character. Grave dark regards is made to sound as a warning as I believe he talked
slowly, unsure of the man s (narrator) up coming actions.
The Signal Man is a ghost story, and as any story develops the writer must introduce
the spectre. To keep our interest in the book, he portrays the narrator s feelings
against the signal man s visions.
Dickens writes, a disagreeable shudder crept over me , which suggests he was
scared of the man s story but refused to believe it. He may have refused to believe
this as in those days, religion was much dominant than it is now and in England
around this time was Christian, and some parts of the teachings see spectres as
unclean and as blasphemy. However, the narrator does not come over as religious,
he is more scientific and perhaps believes it is the signal man s own delusions. The
signal man was said to have talked a tone lower than a whisper , that suggests he was
weary of talking. The word whisper to me is

The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems
The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our
morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue
Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and
how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of
each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world
situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out.
RELATIVISM ETHICS
There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and
Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and
wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and
wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive:
Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to
discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social
experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from
the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many
aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to
be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory.
One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed
murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which

Pope Sixtus Influence On The Roman Church
Today I ll be talking about Francesco della Rovere whom later became Pope Sixtus
IV from the 14th century who was mostly known for his renovation and sizable
projects throughout Rome which became a supreme element and feature of Rome
s cityscape by the late 15th century. Sixtus assumed to the spiritual role as Pope of
the Roman Catholic Church on the 14th of December 1471 1484 and almost
immediately got renovations and building projects underway from the Ponte Sisto
to the Vatican Library and many streets throughout Rome. Prior to becoming Pope,
Sixtus was a prominent scholar and theologian and acquired his doctorate in 1444.
Unfortunately most facts about Sixtus before he was Pope are not to be found or
are quite rare which leads some historians to think that Sixtus could of been
ashamed of his prior life. However we do know that he came from poor family, his
father was either a fisherman or a cloth trader, and he became very close friends
with the della Rovere family. According to a few sources I found he became so
close to that family that he became just like a family... Show more content on

The architectural construction of the Sistine Chapel was between 1475 1481. The
historical and psychological substance of the Sistine Chapel s birth was evident in

What types of intellectual property are used at your organization? How are they

opposed to a nondisclosure clause? What privacy and security issues arise when
conducting business on the Internet? Provide examples.
Intellectual property used in my organization is one simple thing, our price list. We
deliver food products to customers who need them, but our prices vary between the
customers depending on how much they order and how often. Larger corporate
stores get bigger discounts for volume versus the mom and pops restaurants who
order very little. These prices are also important to protect from our competition, who
could use them to underbid our current customers. Our job is to protect all of our
paperwork from falling into the wrong hands, not flaunting bills in front of the wrong
customers, and maintaining control of all the paperwork at all times.
The advantage of a non compete clause is it stops an employee from stealing
customers should they terminate their employment either voluntarily or
involuntarily. A non disclosure agreement is the paper I had to sign upon accepting
employment at my current job. It stated I was not allowed to take copies or actual
bills with prices, or share these prices from memory for no less than three years if I

Ancient Roman Times Research Paper
Reading in the ancient roman times was different and similar from reading in the
US today. The ancient romans read from scrolls made out of sheets of papyrus or
wooden tablets covered with wax. We read from stacks of printed paper fastened
together at one side. But there are also similarities between the two. The first
difference between reading in the ancient roman times and reading in the US today
is that the ancient romans would have public reading sessions. Public reading
became the central pillar of Roman literary life. People would recite epics, tragedies,
comedies, and lyrics, but mostly poetry. They d regale crowds, at dinner parties, in
plazas/forums, and during the Games (gladiator fights, fights between animals). This
lust for readings did, at least, begin with a love of words.

Basal cell carcinoma treatment is very important because it can eventually grow
deeper into your skin and destroy the tissue and/ or bone (Carucci JA, 2013). It
usually looks like a raised, smooth, pearly bump on sun exposed skin of the head,
neck shoulders or back of hands. BCC is often mistaken for a sore that does not
heal. (Staff, Skin Cancer Causes, 2012). Squamous Cell Cancer (SCC) is the next
most common type of skin cancer. It accounts for about fifteen to twenty percent
of skin cancers in individuals. SCC is two times as frequent in men as women and
usually catches up with the victim at an older age. If the amount of sun/UV ray
/lamp exposure is extremely great, it is possible to get it while at a young age also.
Almost all of squamous cell carcinomas result from extreme exposure to UV rays,
the sun, and/or lamps (Staff, Skin Cancer Causes, 2012). It is possible to get
squamous cell carcinoma on any part of your body. A common place for women to
get SCC is on their legs. Some types of SCC look like a common, well defined,
thick, red, scaly patch/ bump on one s skin. If it is left untreated, it can form into a
big mass and possibly spread to other parts of the body (Michael S Lehrer, 2013).
The least common, yet most harmful, type of skin cancer is called malignant
melanoma. It accounts for less than ten percent of skin cancers in individuals. This
type of cancer can and most likely will kill a victim if not found earlier in a cancer

Ander s main points regarding the first chapter and add to the things he missed.
Along with that, I researched more about the term Okieand the beginning of the dust
bowlfor the Oklahoma residents. Anders starts his video summary on the chapter
one by discussing Babb s first sentence in that chapter. He first emphasizes how
Babb starts off the novel with a long sentence and ends it with a strong point.
Anders then continues with stating how the writer has chosen to craft the sentence
in a way where all the work is pushed to the front and nothing was left is at the end.
Anders claims that the main part of the sentence comes at the very end , referring
to when Babb states that though they worked so hard nothing was left (Babb 3). He
points out how even after everything they have done it still was not enough and it is
barley getting them by. Anders then adds that Babb including this is a really
important way to start off the idea of this book , referring to hard workers and all their
Private Troubles And Public Issues That People Face In...
When talking about the troubles that people face and the issues that society faces, it
is important to understand that they both go hand in hand. The private troubles that
one faces make contribute to the public issues that the society faces, and vice versa.
Growing up there were a few significant events that would be considered my private
troubles yet public issues contuted to making the troubles. Growing up I was a fine
example of mills theory Neither the life of an individual nor the history of a society
can be understood without understanding both (Mills 3). One clear example of a
troublethat I have face in my life is the suicide of my papa. He was dealing with his
personal troubles to keep our family afloat, finish his education, struggling with
internal self esteem, and PTSD from the military. His PTSD would show up in the
way that he would treat my mom and me. I would consider this a personal trouble
because it what he felt internally and what my mom and went through during his
death. My family went through many rough times with keeping food on the tables
and my papa s PTSD affecting our everyday life. Finally, one day it seemed as if
hiss PTSD took the very last thing, him. He faced many troubles as a child but it
wasn t until he joined the military and got deployed that the troubles stared to hit
home. Because he was struggling with providing for the family he felt less than,
affecting his self esteem. He had his personal triubles and he may have felt that he
Essay on Gilbert Ryle’s The Concept of Mind
Gilbert Ryle s The Concept of Mind
Gilbert Ryle s The Concept of Mind (1949) is a critique of the notion that the mind is
distinct from the body, and is a rejection of the philosophical theory that mental states
are distinct from physical states. Ryle argues that the traditional approach to the
relation of mind and body (i.e., the approach which is taken by the philosophy of
Descartes) assumes that there is a basic distinction between Mind and Matter.
According to Ryle, this assumption is a basic category mistake, because it attempts
to analyze the relation betwen mind and body as if they were terms of the same
logical category. Furthermore, Ryle argues that traditional Idealism makes a basic
category mistake by trying to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are no mental processes which are distinct from intelligent acts. The operations
of the mind are not merely represented by intelligent acts, but are the same as
intelligent acts. Thus, an act of remembering, dreaming, knowing, or willing is not
merely a clue to some hidden mental process or intellectual operation, it is how that
mental process or intellectual operation is defined. A logical proposition is not
merely a clue to a particular mode of reasoning, it is that mode of reasoning.
Ryle rejects the doctrine that the will is a faculty within the mind, and the doctrine
that volitions are mental processes which the human body transforms into physical
acts. Ryle explains that this doctrine is an example of the myth that mental acts are
distinct from physical acts, and of the myth that there is a mental world which is
distinct from the physical world. This doctrine of separation between mind and
body is referred to by Ryle as the dogma of the ghost in the machine. Ryle argues
that there is no ghostly, invisible entity called the mind inside a mechanical
apparatus called the body. The workings of the mind are not an independent
mechanism which governs the workings of the body. The workings of the mind are
not distinct from the actions of the body, but are conceptualized as a way of
explaining the actions of the body.
Ryle argues that, according to the traditional theory of the mind, mental acts are
regarded as causing and

The Knowledge Of Natural Sciences And History
I chose this question since it has actually stayed with me for the whole TOK
course. I found it very difficult to find a link, for example, of perception in math or
how reason could fit into art. A network suggests that more than one way of
knowing can collaborate within another in order to gain knowledge in a particular
Area of knowing. The statement implies that not using a network of WOK to gain
knowledge is unwise. Thus, I wish to examine how we best acquire knowledge in
Natural Sciences and History. My two central knowledge questions are, how reliable
is it to use only one way of knowing in one Area of knowledge in order to gain
knowledge? and Is it essential to use a network of ways of knowing to acquire good
knowledge?
The scope of Natural Sciences is to create principles, theories and laws about the
natural world. Natural Sciences theories and laws are based on a scientific
methodology (hypothetico deductive method ). The scientific method always tries to
connect theory and observation, this is one manner to consistently organize our
observation of the natural world . Experiments are often used in order to replicate
aspects of the world in which we are interested. In fact, following this method before
stating something to be true scientists needs first to arrange an hypothesis then make
some tests in order to prove the theory and finally make up the law. Doing that we
can say to acquire a proof and, therefore, good knowledge.
One aspect of its methodology is
Essay on Asian American History
Nowadays, United States is often associated with the term melting pot , which refers
to the assimilation of immigrants who were initially heterogeneous with their own
distinct backgrounds. Corresponding to that fact, racial discrimination has been
significantly reduced within melting pot , in which people gradually understand the
differences between them without aversion. However, back in the past, many
Americans conceived of Asians as strangers. They were not willing to understand and
embrace the biological and cultural differences that set Asian immigrants apart from
Europeans and early Americans. Coolie trade, which brought numerous Asian
immigrants to the United Statesas indentured laborers, resulted in numerous

Asian immigrants were willing to work although the only given tasks were menial
that Caucasians did not consider preferable. Asian immigrants way of life was
laborious, diligent, and humble; they did not complain about their given
environments and quit their jobs like Europeans. Asian immigrants had their own
American dream to achieve citizenships and prosperity, and in order to accomplish
their goals, they kept on working despite harsh and unfair working conditions.
However, one distinction that can be made between Asian immigrants and American
laborers was there was no justice for Asians. They were purposely denied the
resources to defend themselves and influence legislation by Americans like Samuel
Gompers who deviously published lies that suggested that Asian immigrants were
willing to accept the poor working conditions and low wages in order to dominate
over their competitors. Eventually, Asian immigrants began to dominate the
American job market; as a result, American and European laborers started to view
them as threats and lobbied for discriminatory laws which resulted in immigration
quotas. In order to hinder the success and progress of Asian immigrants, many
Americans like Samuel Gompers viewed them as strangers and prevented them from
gaining equal protection under the law which further isolated from the major society.

Comparing Wife Of Bath And The Prioress In The
Canterbury...
The only two women most significant and described in great detail in The
Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer who provide the greatest insight into
contemporary medieval society are the Wife of Bath and the Prioress. These two
women appear similar in the General Prologue of the poem but, as we see through
their tales, they are quite unique women and most importantly very different from
one another. By examining both the Wife of Bath and the Prioress s tales, we are
able to see the stark contrast between their social standards and behavior. However, in
spite of the fact that these two ladies belong to two different social spheres, they
surprisingly share some common characteristics. The initial similarity between these
two women lies in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means, of course, that she has been five times widowed (no divorce for
women in 14th century England). This is rather surprising, but seems less so
when in her prologue we learn that three of the husbands were old men. Her habit
of going on pilgrimages suggests a devout woman, but her real reasons for such
travel are a love of adventure, and the social opportunities these trips bring. As in
the present case, most pilgrims are men and the few other women present are
nuns. One of them might be the next husband for whom she is looking out. The
Wife of Bath is most creatively portrayed and certainly most controversial. Alison,
as she is called, is a very outspoken woman with beliefs contrary to those of her
time, when a woman had little say. In her prologue, the Wife of Bath offends those
who look down on her because of her beliefs, and uses various biblical and religious
references to support her opinions on chastity, sex, and marriage. The Wife of
Bath, Dame Alice is quite a spiteful woman even though she desires only a few
simple things in life: power and control. Through her prologue and tale, she makes
mirror images of herself , which reflects the person who she really is. Chaucer
describes a nun Prioress called as Madame Eglantine. She had her nose well shaped,
her eyes bright as glass, her mouth very small and soft and read, an indeed she had a

Selecting A Form Of Entity For Doing Business
Selecting a form of entity for doing business.
Tax payers, who are business owners, including the self employed, have choices
regarding how to set up their entity for tax purposes. Generally, the following options
are available for tax payers:
Sole Proprietorship
Single Member Limited Liability Company
S Corporation
C Corporation
Sole Proprietorships do not file any documents, including annual reports, with the
Secretary of State. Accordingly, they do not have legal or creditor protection.
Sole Proprietorships prepare Schedule C as part of their Individual Income Tax
returns, with exception to farmers who must file Schedule F. The Schedule C is the
most simplistic form for tax filing purposes, when it comes to business. Sole
Proprietors may need to file Schedule SE.
Generally, self employed business owners can set up fringe benefits (i.e. self
employed health insurance deduction and retirement plan) for their business. Self
employed health insurance and retirement deductions are reported on page 1 of the
individual income tax form as an adjustment to gross income. Discrimination tests
have to be met for the self employed health insurance if the sole proprietorship has

Food And Drinks In Roman Food
Food and drinks played an essential role in the life of a wealthy Roman citizen.
Unlike other periods of time food had an important social impact during Ancient
Rome and the daily life of Ceaser. However in many cultures breakfast, lunch and
dinner were the three main courses of the day. A wealthy citizens breakfast consisted
of bread with olives or cheese and lunch was usually quick with bread, cheese, and
fruit(Ermatinger 1). Dinner was their main affair, and the largest meal of the day
(Ermatinger 1). It contained bread, vegetables, oliveoil, cheese and meat (Ermatinger
1). Banquets and feasts were also another elaborate way people would celebrate and
enjoy their food(Moulton 27). How the poor ate was quite unlike the wealthy. They
had the duty of finding and preparing their dishes in order for their families to eat.
Wine was the favorite drink for both social classes and consumed with most meals.
The knowledge and responsibility of women in ancient history pertained mainly to
the preparation of food. Today, the writing of ancients and archeologists has given
us insight about the foods that were eaten, and the manner in which they were
prepared. Their climate, soil, and terrain of the region exposed that it was especially
good for growing grains, legumes, beans, olive trees, and grape trees (Moulton 3).
Grain was their primary ingredient for making flour, which was used in the most
common foods eaten. Including varieties of bread, porridge, biscuits, and cakes. They

Forest Observation Paper
In the North Carolinian piedmont, there are several different forest communities. The
main types are, loblolly/ slash pine forest, mesic forest, oak forest, and floodplain
forest (NC Wildlife 2015). Soil types, elevation, climate, and nutrient availability are
important components of determining forest types. There are also certain species,
considered indicators that help predict the type of forestcommunity. The change in
environmental factors and species distribution allow for different forest types
(Cortes, Islebe 2005). Measuring the environmental factors of a plot and identifying
the different species present can predict Forest types and is commonly done by land

of the NC piedmont, to help determine forest types in this area. Through looking at

Driving On An Open Road
There s something incredible about driving on an open road and watching the

getting that sinking feeling in your stomach while taking off, flying into a new
adventure. These are some of my favorite things about traveling; enjoying the
journey not just the destination. Growing up my family didn t do much traveling.
Our travels consisted of short road trips, lots of laughter, fun and adventure. We
weren t a privileged family; we were quite the opposite. Although we lacked in the
financial department, I don t recall ever feeling like we did. This could ve been
because my head was always in the clouds but it probably had a lot to do with how
much love there is in our family. As I grew older I started to take notice of where
my friends were going to spend their summer or winter vacations. While mine,
were going to be spent mostly home. These were the times I spent dreaming about
where I would travel to if I only had the money. Fast forward to the first time I
spontaneously planned a road trip one summer. I didn t intend to go on a trip but I
had recently seen pictures of a place called Horseshoe Bend and I was utterly
captivated by its beauty. Not only was it remarkable but a few hours away. I was
determined to visit Horseshoe Bend that summer and began preparing my trip.
While planning, I had so many questions: Where do I start? How do I get there?
Where do I stay? How long is my trip going to

7 student loan myths debunked
When it comes to student loans, there is a lot of information to take in especially for
a new college student who is exploring their financing options for the first time, or a
new graduate who has just started paying off their student loan debt. With all of the
different information out there, it can be easy to get confused, and perhaps even
misunderstand certain things about student loans. The following are some common
student loan myths, debunked:
Myth #1: I m not worried about my student loan debt, because I can just have some or
all of my debt forgiven
Fact: It s not easy to qualify for student loan forgiveness. The criteria can be rather
strict, and you usually have to be working in a specific industry ... Show more content

You can usually get your payments adjusted and lowered based on your income, so
if you haven t exactly reached the salary you were hoping for post graduation, don t
fret. You may also be able to temporarily defer payments as well. However, you ll
want to consider the disadvantage of not opting for a standard repayment schedule.
You are essentially lengthening your loan by delaying the inevitable, which means
you ll pay more interest in the end.
Myth #3: I can discharge my student loan debt through bankruptcy if I ever really
need to
Fact: Not all debts can be discharged through bankruptcy, and typically, student loan
debt falls into that category. That doesn t mean it s impossible, but isn t as easy as
discharging other types of debt, and you may not be eligible. As such, it s important
to not just assume that bankruptcy can be an automatic solution for any student loan
debt troubles.
Myth #4: I probably don t qualify for financial aid, so I should just take out student
loans
Fact: Not necessarily. Many students qualify for some level of funding, and unlike
student loans, financial aid usually doesn t need to be paid back (there are some
exceptions to this for example, if you fail a class). It doesn t cost anything to just
apply and see what you re eligible for. Even if you don t receive enough financial
aid to avoid student loans completely, every little bit helps, and that s less you ll need
to borrow.
Myth #5: I ll be required to borrow far more

be a coincidence that this lady came in dressed like that. The outcome was

Illegal Online Music Downloading, The Consequences For
The...
The internet is one of the greatest and most significant inventions of the 20th century.
It has become the biggest data foundation to receive all kinds of information,
particularly knowledge related to education and improving one s skills. Downloads
are needed in order to receive data from computer networks which are remote
systems, typically a server. Copyrighted content needs to have appropriate permission
to download it and without this permission doing so could constitute copyright
infringement. According to Towers (2011), on line piracy generally refers to sharing
over the internet copies of works that are not authorised or illegal downloading of
software, movies, videogames and music. Copyrighted works are distributed illicitly
through Internet chat rooms, newsgroups and peer to peer file trading networks. All
of these kinds of internet copyright infringement are crimes that should be punished
by law. This essay will discuss illegal online music downloading, the consequences
for the music industry and artists, and will introduce two solutions in terms of the law
in relation to this issue. Finally, an evaluation of these solutions will be given.
Illegal music downloads have caused a massive fall in the sales and income of the
labels and artists, which has been driving them to bankruptcy quicker. According to
Li (2015:20), mentions Each year, the industry loses about $4.2 billion to piracy
worldwide . Between 2000 and 2003, sales numbers fell 16% (Duenner, 2009). After

idealist recruited to join the campaign of Jack Stanton, a captivating governor of an
unknown Southern State. Stanton is trying to win the Democratic Party
nomination for President of the United States. Henry Burton is the grandson of a
civil rights leader who is drawn into Stanton s presidential campaign. Your
grandfather was a great man, Susan Stanton, Jack s wife, says to Burton when he
arrives with her husband. Jack Stanton could also be a great man, if he weren t
such a faithless, thoughtless, disorganized, undisciplined shit. (Nichols) Burton
seems like a decent guy but soon realizes there isn t much room for decency in high
stakes political campaigning. At the beginning of the movie, Burton is impressed
by Stanton s genuine warmth and compassion for people. He soon becomes part of
Stanton s inner circle of political advisers that also includes Susan Stanton, Richard
Jemmons, Daisy Green, and Howard Ferguson. Stanton debates his Democratic
rivals in New Hampshire and is impressive. After this remarkable debate, Burton s
ex girlfriend shows up and questions Stanton about a past arrest. When Stanton was
a teenager, he was arrested for an anti war protest during the 1968 Democratic
Convention in Chicago. It s revealed that Stanton called a U.S. senator to help him
get released then persuaded the mayor of Chicago to have his police record
expunged. The team becomes worried that

Offshore Oil Drilling
Doesn t everyone love swimming in the ocean and seeing all the pretty sea life?
Some people do, and when people are offshore drilling they can cause a lot of
problems if something goes wrong. The biggest concern by environmentalist is
not a spill, but the pollution of the air and water, damage to the ocean bottom and
debris that washes ashore from day to day operations of oil and gas rigs. Oil
Drilling can lead to jobs being endangered, animals dying, and damaging the eco
system. So many animals are dying because of the oil in the water. Proofread to

Exposure to petroleum causes tissue damage in the eyes, mouth, skin and lungs of
marine mammals. Because they are at the top of the food chain, many marine
mammals will be exposed to the dangers of bioaccumulation of organic pollutants
and metals. Expansion of offshore drilling activities would further threaten
imperiled species like the manatee. Sea Turtles often nest on beaches. Collisions
and noise disruptions are all potential threats to sea turtles. Hatchlings are also
particularly susceptible to oiling because they spend much of their time near the
water surface, where spilled oil or tar accumulates. (Boesch, DF and N.N. Rabalais
(eds.) 2010.) Do to the oil spill U.S. wildlife experts are preparing to collect tens of
thousands of endangered sea turtle eggs and move them hundreds of miles away
in an unprecedented bid to protect them from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico. Offshore oil drilling causes many changes to our climate change. It
thickens the ocean and that makes it even harder for sea life animals to live in,
and also for people to swim in. Also, when there is an oil spill fishermen cannot sail
through it because of the possibility of the crude oil catching fire. The U.S. needs to
look for ways to decrease petroleum consumption, not for ways to increase it.
Offshore oil production involves environmental risks, most notably oil spills from oil
tankers or pipelines transporting oil from the platform to onshore facilities, and from
leaks
Music Essay
Music Hip Hop Getting a Bad Rap Among many problems in society today, rap
music is being blamed for the confusion of America s youths. One key problem is
the way a child is raised. Not having a positive role model can have a powerful effect
on a child. The other dilemma is the type of rap music. Gangsterrapper s lyrics seem
to corrupt and have a negative image on a youth s mind. Two possible steps to
taking the blame away from rap music is by placingthe spotlight on other influences
such as friends and even the family as the source of confusion. The other by
promoting rap artists whose lyrics has a positive message. The nation s youth are
experiencing pain and confusion; and they need someone to look up to. In today s

It is not only the female listener that is effected. The song may leave an equally
compelling impression on these young males. These young men may actually believe
what Dr. Dre is saying. They might disrespect women while looking down upon
them. So, in order to change the attitude of defying women and change the
attitudes of America s impressionable youths; people need to step up and talk back
to the gangsters like Queen Latifah did in her song U.N.I.T.Y where she tells
women, You ain t a b or a ho. This song was strongly accepted by the American
youths, especially the females. There are many female artists who are trying to get
rid of the negative images of women. D.C. Talk, a Christian rap group, is another
rap group that doesn t exploit women or encourage violence. In their song That
Kinda Girl , the lyrics Love her and respect her, cherish her forever is the way
women should be treated. Another song by D.C. Talk I Love Rap Music is a
humorous account of how rap music started. In the conclusion of the song they say,
Those obscene lyrics are overkilled stating that since 1990 that is all rap music has

Ernest Hemingway
In A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway, the author used very short, choppy
language that was not typical for the time period of the book. Despite the fact that he
did not use long traditional sentences, Hemingway still managed to produce detailed
passages with plenty of imagery to help the reader immerse themselves into the story.
By illustrating settings, characterizing characters, and describing their feelings.
Surprisingly, it was still possible to create detailed passages even with Ernest
Hemingways choppy and staccato writingstyle. Ernest Hemingway was one of the
first great authors to use short language and still be descriptive. There was a great
example of this in the text when he wrote, The piece of timber swung in... Show more

wording, Hemingway still managed to create a descriptive passage that made it
clear to the reader exactly what Miss Barkley looked like. Even though Hemingway
uses such plain language, it is not necessarily a bad thing. A professor at Penn State

Analysis Of The Zookeeper s Wife By Diane Ackerman
From The Heart
Not allowed! Your mother! Your wife! Your sister! Do you understand (283)?
Antonina screamed this at the Russian soldiers looting her home during the
holocaust. To them the world was coming to an end. Rules no longer mattered. The
lives of others were completely unimportant. People only worried for their own
lives. In The Zookeeper s Wife by Diane Ackerman, Antonina Zabinski, the selfless
woman referred to in the title, experiences so many personal struggles as she tries
to save the lives of family and dear friends. William Faulkner strongly presses the
subject of a writer s duty. The writer s duty is to write with emotion so that you
awaken the reader s feelings. Diane Ackerman conveys Faulkner s writer s duty by
giving readers insight into Antonina s thoughts and emotions and the reactions of
people around her during dangerous and challenging events so that she can stir their
hearts. Diane Ackerman wrote of a hero. She wrote to tell the story of Antonina
Zabinksi, a courageous and resilient woman. Ackerman told of all the tough,
dangerous situations Antonina was put through so that she could spark something
inside of her readers. She wanted the readers to feel true emotion. The Zookeeper s
Wife takes place between 1935 and 1945. The setting is placed during World War II.
Diane Ackerman s explains the many struggles Antonina faces and how she faces
each one bravely. An example of how Ackerman conveys emotion to the reader is
when there was fire set to
Realism And Realist Approaches To International Relations
On the other hand, they also share similar qualities and characteristics. Both
theories realize how our world is more than capable of being a dangerous place and
we should not assume we are safe at all times. Military power is recognized as being
important and pragmatic, and it is understood this power can easily be abused, as
much as it can be functional. Another common realization between idealist and realist
approaches is because there is no absolute governmenthaving power over all
countries, countries can essentially do whatever they want to each other, which
includes inflicting terror, because there really isn t anything stopping them.
While it is true the two approaches to international relations share some common
beliefs, these beliefs are greatly outweighed by their differences. Their
fundamental beliefs about how the world should function are in opposition, and
they place varying levels of importance on power. Yes, military power is seen as
crucial for both but realists see the military as being the sole, relevant type of power,
while idealists see the opposite. They do not think military power is the most
important type, and it even takes a backseat to moral and economic powers. Another
major difference is their view on total world government. On one hand, idealism
seeks to create a united world government, which would help create peace around the
globe. On the other hand, realism believes this would not be successful as it is
impossible to coerce all countries to cooperate and participate in this. Realists realize
countries will be primarily looking out for themselves, and unless it greatly benefitted
them, would probably not do something just to help out other countries.
The term anarchy is often associated with realism along with the concept of no
international government. When people hear the term, anarchy, a very negative and
violent image most likely comes to mind, but that is not what the realist approach
represents. Realists argue the absence of a common government simply pushes
countries to be independent and to help themselves, it does not fuel conflict or terror.
Another difference between the two is who they think the states are concerned about,
and what they want. Idealists
Stigma Of Online Dating
Internet matchmaking and dating have become a big business because of the
negative stigma of online dating decreasing. Society previously viewed online
dating as the most obscure way to date and it was seen as the most desperate way
to find a companion. But now according to an article found online, the 21 percent of
internet users that agreed with the statement people who use online dating sites are
desperate , has shown an 8point drop from last poll in 2005. In the clip, it was
shown that match.com, a thriving dating website, charges their members a $25
dollar monthly fee from over 12 million users. So the quote ...there s money to be
made in love and romance , speaks volumes. Furthermore, some people think of
Internet dating as a Meet Market because you have so many options to choose from.

And at a meat market, you know what you are looking for and you have a variety

started off looking for a friend on PlanetOut.com but she ended up finding love, just
like if you were going to the grocery store to pickup biscuits, and you may also
leave with orange juice. In addition to this information, although love and romance
can be found on these dating websites in some cases lies and hidden truths can also
be identified. The disadvantages of meeting someone online would be that they lie
about their age, height, and even their profile picture. It may be easy toile about your
height, age or appearance, but the science to this matchmaking is far from easy. A

Judaism And The Temple Of Judaism Essay
Have you ever noticed that when people talk of Jews, at least in a protestant church,
that the Israelite legalism, rituals, dress and hair standards are the first things to
mind? The topic of Judaism may come with stereotypical opinions and Christian
Judgement that are without merit or understanding. Judaism, by a Christian worldview,
had to change after Pentecost, since the animal sacrifice to atone for sin Christ
completed on the Cross. However, Judaism does not accept this truth of Christ and
His work on the cross, but Judaism remains in the world. So, what was this change in
Judaism and when did it take place? There have been numerous fluctuations within
Judaism, only the theme constructed in this essay has its foundations around the most
important facet of Judaism the Temple. With the Temple in the forefront of this essay,
we will discuss the modifications that Judaism went through, at what time, different
perspectives that the destruction of the Temple had, and how the Christian sect views
these vagaries. The Temple destruction of A.D. 70 converted the Jewish faith in its
singular fashion, while, at the same point, the Jewish faith never had a total change
by always changing throughout time.
Before we can totally dive into how the Temple destruction changed Judaism, we
must gain some knowledge of the Jewish faith itself, as well as Jewish terms. One
of the first ideas many people may discover about the term Jew is its lack of use in
the Old Testament scriptures.

Final Paper

PPA603: Government Budgeting (MBQ 1118A)
Instructor: Chiji Ohayia
June 06, 2011
Public policy is the study of policy making by governments. A government s public
policy is the set of policies (laws, plans, actions, behaviors) that it chooses. (Lee,
Johnson, Joyce, 2008) Since governments claim authority and responsibility (to
varying degrees) over a large group of individuals, they see fit to establish plans and
methods of action that will govern that society. I will discuss the possible funding
options for reducing Georgia s sex offender rate, evaluate how public policy decisions
affect the receipt of revenues, and develop a revenue policy that aligns with
community values.

The Government created a Project Safe Childhood which is a program to protect
children from rapist and sex offenders. The Project Safe Childhood will make a
ground for a national zero tolerance culture. The Project Safe Childhood program is a
strong three legged stool: one leg is the federal contributions led by the United States
Attorneys around the country, another is state and local law enforcement, including
the Internet Crimes Against Children task forces funded by the Department s Office
of Justice Programs and the third is non governmental organizations, like the
Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography and the National Center for Missing
and Exploited Children. [NCMEC] (Geffner, 2008)
Under the Project Safe Childhood structure, state, local and federal partners are
seeking the toughest sentences possible. The Government has made half a million
dollars available for the Project Safe Childhood program. This program intends to
bring state and local law enforcement together with federal prosecutors from their
regions.
Cooperative law enforcement work on the registry has already led to some great
stories of success. The first case brought under the Adam Walsh Child Protection and

Administration for allegedly using a false name and another man s Social Security

a tire was flat and halting the trip to fix the flat without checking the other tires to

para. 10). 6.Testing is an ongoing process during development and the delivery of
the application. The Healthcare.gov project did not have time to complete a
regression test phase and user acceptance testing phase because of publicly
announced deadlines. You can pass every functional test for the software and still
have a product that does not work (Heusser et al., 2013, para. 26). 7.One of the
major factors that prevented the system from working was the insistence that
everyone had to create a unique identification in the system so that the system
could check all the factors that would decide what insurance was available and
what subsistence would be accessible to an applicant. If the system had allowed
applicants to browse the offerings before creating an application, the system would
not have had so many applications in a started pending completion status (Heusser

people were going to sign up for insurance who had never had insurance before
otherwise, a taxpayer without insurance would face share tax (penalty) for not

Five Steps Of Satire
In today s society, it is very common for people to make fun of certain events or
people online or through media, known as satire. Satire can be defined as, the use of
irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice ( satire
) to expose the faults of humanity, institution or society. Satirists use literary
techniques and elements of satirein order to communicate a message to the reader.
That message can be conveyed through the five steps of satire. First is to determine
the object of satire; this usually pokes fun at someone or something resulting in
laughter. Next, determine the underlying message the author is trying to get across.
Then, figure out the type of irony which is being used: situational, verbal,
Black On Black Persuasive Speech
I am tired of African American woman setting low standards from themselves. It is
time that we let our roots grow into something beautiful and wonderful. It is time
that we show respect for ourselves and to others, we must express our true color.
We no longer have to fight for our rights so let stop all the fighting against each
other. We bring mistreatment to ourselves by lowering our morals. It is time that
we change our way; we are the same as whites and other races. Black on black is
not the enemy nor is the whites; it is the evil that we let take over our mind and
soul. It is time that we let god in our lives and let him lead us to our feature. It is
time that we show the world that we are intelligent black females that we do have

  • 2. Conversion Of Alcohols To Alkyl Halides Lab Report During this experiment, four methods were using in the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides. These steps were reflux, distillation, separation and drying. This experiment consisted of four major steps: reflux, distillation, separation, and drying. A reflux condenser has water flow from bottom to top with the top being connected to the flask being heated and the bottom connected to an empty flask to collect distillate. Reflux is where the solution is heated to boil and returns the condensing vapors into a flask without losing solution due to evaporation. Reflux was used in this experiment to provide activation energy needed (heat) to obtain and retain the products, which could not happen without being heated. Distillation is when a ... The peaks represent different types of hydrogens and where the hydrogens reside in a compound s structure. Also, when hydrogens are close to an electronegative atom, this will cause the peak for those nearby hydrogens to be upfield on the NMR. Shape of the peak is determined by the N+1 rule, where the number of neighboring non equivalent hydrogens plus one will determine the number of lines a peak will have, forming a shape. Then using the integration number that is generated by a computer can help find the number of hydrogens are present for each peak. Extra peaks that were found in the NMR spectra included a peak at zero that represents the tetramethylsilane or TMS and is the accepted standard zero for NMR spectra. Other peaks found in the NMR can represent impurities in the analyzed
  • 3. The Connected Lived Of Ants, Brains, And Software By... Vanessa Payan Professor Leach ARC5205 Architecture Theories 2 Fall 2016 October 20, 2016 Emergence: The Connected Lived of Ants, Brains, and Software by Steven Johnson In the introduction of the book Johnson begins by giving a narrative about the role that slime mold took in discovering emergent behavior. Biologist in time have struggled to answer questions as to how these organisms work together. The main concern about these emerging organisms was whether or not there was a controlling member who directed all other members in each of the communities. More than likely, the possible solution for any of these communities to show some sense of order would be if there were a controlling unit or what Johnson mentions as controlling agents that would be in charge of keeping the community in harmony. So how exactly has the findings about slime mold given to science? Based on what I have interpreted about the book I can say Johnson s narrative on how we find connection through emergent complex living systems would be when he begins describing about the early work of Charles Darwin when made his evolutionary discoveries at the Galapagos Islands. Because of his observational skills, which mainly focused on natural selection and factors that would lead to a species to want to evolve due to survival, this lead to wanting to understand more about what would be the true reason to want to create emergence. The art of observation soon followed later in Johnson s timeline when he gives a
  • 4. King Lear by William Shakespeare Blindness is a theme that we see throughout King Lear in many characters including King Lear, Gloucester and Albany. Although blindness is a theme it is also a psychological metaphor and can be defined as not having sight.2 Shakespeare forces us to see that being blind is a mental flaw just as much as it is a physical flaw. Lear is not only metaphorically blind but is also blind toward nastiness and loyalty . We see Gloucester s blindness in more literal terms as he is literally blind but he can still see, and Albany has a more common form of blindness, as he is blind to his wife. These characters are only able to see after a tragic loss. However the person in the play that is more significantly blind is King Lear. His role was to distinguish between good and evil, but due to his in ability to see he is not able to do just so. Lear s first encounter with blindness was at the beginning of the play when he was fooled by his two older daughters lies and was not able to see the true love that Cordelia had for him, resulting in King Lear banishing her from his kingdom. As shown in the play for we have no such daughter, nor shall ever see that face again. Therefore be gone without our grace, our love, our benison (1.1. 265 267).3 King Lear s blindness also lead to the banishing of Kent, because Kent saw the true love Cordelia had for her father and was trying to protect her from his irrationality. Kent then disguised himself and was hired as a servant by King Lear. This proves

This examination is used to detect and estimate various abnormal conditions, such as kidney disease, urinary tract infections, and even diabetes. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of glucose detected in the urine was 500 mg/d, measuring above the norm of 130 180 mg/d. A high glucose concentration could be associated with calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate. High levels of glucose may occur with diabetes, renal glycosuria, and pregnancy. A follow up test for diabetes may be given for these reasons. There was a small indication of bilirubin in the urine sample which should normally pass into the liver. Presence of bilirubin cold indicate live damage or diseases such as hepatitis. No ketones were found in the urine we sampled which is normal. The specific gravity of the urine reflects the patient s hydration status and the sample measured a normal 1.030. In the urine sample there was a trace amount of blood found. This could require additional resting for a sign of kidney damage or infection, kidney or bladder stones or cancer, and blood disorders. Blood also creates a change in the color of urine, perhaps this had something to do with the abnormal coloring of the urine sample. The PH and urobilinogen were both identified as normal by the test. A trace amount leukocytes were identified in the urine. A small amount of leukocytes are normal and expelled in the urine when they are damaged or killed when fighting an infection. A high number of leukocytes may show signs of infection in the urinary system and create cloudy and foul smelling urine. A positive

Dissent Vs Majority Research Paper Women s suffrage, Civil Rights, LGBT rights etc, these abolitionists of all kinds have for years fought against the majority in order to achieve a level playing field. In America, when the majority is challenged and refuted change has room to flourish which leads to a resolution. A disagreement needs to be fueled on both sides. Look at it like a game of rock em sock em both players have to emit force in order to compete with the other but the player who puts out the strongest force wins. That s how it is with dissent vs. disagreement. Disagreement creates the division between the majority and the minority, those who are for and those who are against. In all famous conflicts there is an affirmative and a negative with one holding the majority. Also in all famous cases the majority holds the upper hand and withholds the idea/thing the minority wants to change in the palms. In the definition of the word is the idea that dissent is for those who fall apart from others who don t get treated like the norm. This is when dissent transforms and progresses their thirst for development of the issue. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a long train of back and forth in order to try to achieve the equal rights the majority held and the minority wanted. Boorstin claims that disagreement is the lifeblood of democracy though if those fighting for freedom sat around a table and disagreed it s possible they could have argued forever and never seen any change. Though woman like Rosa Parks dissented the mistreatment, and dissented those who tried to make her less than. Her choice to stand up sparked the larger movement of the bus boycotts, and from then filtered into the marches and walks of Dr. King. These 2 abolitionists dissented the way things were and that is what drove their

  • 9. Nationalism Is A Political Ideology Essay INTRODUCTION: Nationalism is a political ideology. It generally involves the identification of a state. According to Hans Kohn, Nationalism is an idea, an idea force which fills man s brain and heart with new thoughts and sentiments and drives him to translate his consciousness into deeds of organized action (Agarwal, 1996). Usually we can see two forms of nationalism. One is liberal nationalism and the other is aggressive nationalism. Because of liberal nationalism, different countries of the world could achieve their independence. On the contrary, aggressive nationalism creates danger for a country. World War I and World War II are examples of aggressive nationalism. Liberal nationalism is concerned with justice or peace. On the other hand, aggressive nationalism is concerned with injustice or war. Nationalism creates the national feelings in the minds of the people of a country. With this national feeling, people of a country can make the cultural, political and economic development. Nationalism takes different forms at different stages of the process of development of a nation or state (Karim, 1992). There are different castes and religions in our country. People of all castes and religions live together peacefully in our country because of liberal nationalism. Bangladesh has a historical legacy of its nationalism. The people of Bangladesh had started struggling for the independence from 1857. Lords of Britain had suppressed us a lot but we did not lose our courage
  • 10. Epidemic of Violence in the USA Essay Violence, one of the biggest problem in the world right now, especially in America, where the gun control law are barely enforced, every citizen is at constant risk, considering the amount of people in this country that own guns. Crime and violence are rapidly becoming the prime epidemic in the U.S today, but what can we do to ensure our future generation s safety? Gun violence is a big problem everywhere, in poor rural neighborhoods to prosperous urban cities like Malibu, it can happen anywhere at any time. The most deadly cases happen in suburban areas where no one would suspect any thing would happen, these areas are the prime target for mass shootings. Some of the most known tragic events include the Columbine massacre... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It angered a lot of people but unless the congress sees it the way the citizens sees it, this is a problem that is not easy to solve. Fifteen of the twenty five worst mass shootings in the last decade worldwide occurred in the United States of America. This is really telling people something about our country, it says people with guns are crazy and dangerous and America has a lot of it. Even though more guns don t necessarily mean more murders, the amount of unregistered guns out in the public is a real issue that cannot be ignored. About sixty percent of people in the U.S own guns, the estimated number of guns legally owned by civilians is 270,000,000 to 310,000,000 (FBI), and that s not counting all the illegally owned firearms. When asked why they need guns, most Americans say that its part of their rights and amendments, to protect themselves and their family. If most people with guns just want to protect themselves, why do so many people die every year from gun violence? The answer is all the illegal firearms that land in the hands of criminals and psychopaths. Because of the almost non existing rules and regulations, it is very easy for someone to illegally acquire a gun. These people get guns either from a corrupt dealer, private gun sales or a method these criminals call straw purchasing , the most common way a criminal obtain firearms. This is when someone
  • 11. Essay on HOW DOES CHARLES DICKENS CREATE SUSPENSE IN THE... HOW DOES CHARLES DICKENS CREATE SUSPENSE IN THE SIGNAL MAN? Dickens creates suspense in the signal man by keeping us interested in a number of ways. He portrays the mysterious and deadly setting, the introduction of the signal man and the impression of the narrator fully. He also describes the spooky sight of the first ghost, the unusual second appearance of a ghost and the death aboard the train. Dickens presents the setting of his story vividly. Often, he uses such personification as angry sunset ; to show that the narrator may be angry as the sun would be blazing down in his eyes. This helps create suspense and make us want to read more. Immediately in the book, we are shown the setting. It is described as a deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narrator believes that he is exact and ingulant and the safest of men employed , which starts to build our curiosity not only of the man as he is gloomy and exact, but the plot. We start to expect that something bad will happen and even a major twist in the plot. In addition, we are told that he perused the fixed eyes and that the signal man gave grave dark regards which adds more to our little understanding of the mysterious character. Grave dark regards is made to sound as a warning as I believe he talked slowly, unsure of the man s (narrator) up coming actions. The Signal Man is a ghost story, and as any story develops the writer must introduce the spectre. To keep our interest in the book, he portrays the narrator s feelings against the signal man s visions. Dickens writes, a disagreeable shudder crept over me , which suggests he was scared of the man s story but refused to believe it. He may have refused to believe this as in those days, religion was much dominant than it is now and in England around this time was Christian, and some parts of the teachings see spectres as unclean and as blasphemy. However, the narrator does not come over as religious, he is more scientific and perhaps believes it is the signal man s own delusions. The signal man was said to have talked a tone lower than a whisper , that suggests he was weary of talking. The word whisper to me is used
  • 12. The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out. RELATIVISM ETHICS There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory. Pope Sixtus Influence On The Roman Church Today I ll be talking about Francesco della Rovere whom later became Pope Sixtus IV from the 14th century who was mostly known for his renovation and sizable projects throughout Rome which became a supreme element and feature of Rome s cityscape by the late 15th century. Sixtus assumed to the spiritual role as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church on the 14th of December 1471 1484 and almost immediately got renovations and building projects underway from the Ponte Sisto to the Vatican Library and many streets throughout Rome. Prior to becoming Pope, Sixtus was a prominent scholar and theologian and acquired his doctorate in 1444. Unfortunately most facts about Sixtus before he was Pope are not to be found or are quite rare which leads some historians to think that Sixtus could of been ashamed of his prior life. We deliver food products to customers who need them, but our prices vary between the customers depending on how much they order and how often. Larger corporate stores get bigger discounts for volume versus the mom and pops restaurants who order very little. These prices are also important to protect from our competition, who could use them to underbid our current customers. Our job is to protect all of our paperwork from falling into the wrong hands, not flaunting bills in front of the wrong customers, and maintaining control of all the paperwork at all times. The ancient romans read from scrolls made out of sheets of papyrus or wooden tablets covered with wax. We read from stacks of printed paper fastened together at one side. But there are also similarities between the two. The first difference between reading in the ancient roman times and reading in the US today is that the ancient romans would have public reading sessions. Public reading became the central pillar of Roman literary life. People would recite epics, tragedies, comedies, and lyrics, but mostly poetry. They d regale crowds, at dinner parties, in plazas/forums, and during the Games (gladiator fights, fights between animals). This lust for readings did, at least, begin with a love of words. This term started being used in a derogatory way in the 1930 s towards agriculture workers when they were not welcomed into other states as they tried to escape severe dust storms. This term becomes relevant to Sonora Babb s novel, Whose Names Are Unknown, due to the fact that the characters would be considered as Okies . Throughout the essay, I will be discussing Professor Bruce Ander s main points regarding the first chapter and add to the things he missed. Along with that, I researched more about the term Okieand the beginning of the dust bowlfor the Oklahoma residents. Anders starts his video summary on the chapter one by discussing Babb s first sentence in that chapter. He first emphasizes how Babb starts off the novel with a long sentence and ends it with a strong point. Anders then continues with stating how the writer has chosen to craft the sentence in a way where all the work is pushed to the front and nothing was left is at the end. Anders claims that the main part of the sentence comes at the very end , referring to when Babb states that though they worked so hard nothing was left (Babb 3). He points out how even after everything they have done it still was not enough and it is barley getting them by. Anders then adds that Babb including this is a really important way to start off the idea of this book , referring to hard workers and all their

Essay on Gilbert Ryle’s The Concept of Mind Gilbert Ryle s The Concept of Mind Gilbert Ryle s The Concept of Mind (1949) is a critique of the notion that the mind is distinct from the body, and is a rejection of the philosophical theory that mental states are distinct from physical states. Ryle argues that the traditional approach to the relation of mind and body (i.e., the approach which is taken by the philosophy of Descartes) assumes that there is a basic distinction between Mind and Matter. According to Ryle, this assumption is a basic category mistake, because it attempts to analyze the relation betwen mind and body as if they were terms of the same logical category. Furthermore, Ryle argues that traditional Idealism makes a basic category mistake by trying to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are no mental processes which are distinct from intelligent acts. The operations of the mind are not merely represented by intelligent acts, but are the same as intelligent acts. Thus, an act of remembering, dreaming, knowing, or willing is not merely a clue to some hidden mental process or intellectual operation, it is how that mental process or intellectual operation is defined. A logical proposition is not merely a clue to a particular mode of reasoning, it is that mode of reasoning. Ryle rejects the doctrine that the will is a faculty within the mind, and the doctrine that volitions are mental processes which the human body transforms into physical acts. Ryle explains that this doctrine is an example of the myth that mental acts are distinct from physical acts, and of the myth that there is a mental world which is distinct from the physical world. This doctrine of separation between mind and body is referred to by Ryle as the dogma of the ghost in the machine. Ryle argues that there is no ghostly, invisible entity called the mind inside a mechanical apparatus called the body. The workings of the mind are not an independent mechanism which governs the workings of the body. The workings of the mind are not distinct from the actions of the body, but are conceptualized as a way of explaining the actions of the body. Ryle argues that, according to the traditional theory of the mind, mental acts are regarded as causing and

I found it very difficult to find a link, for example, of perception in math or how reason could fit into art. A network suggests that more than one way of knowing can collaborate within another in order to gain knowledge in a particular Area of knowing. The statement implies that not using a network of WOK to gain knowledge is unwise. Thus, I wish to examine how we best acquire knowledge in Natural Sciences and History. My two central knowledge questions are, how reliable is it to use only one way of knowing in one Area of knowledge in order to gain knowledge? and Is it essential to use a network of ways of knowing to acquire good knowledge? The scope of Natural Sciences is to create principles, theories and laws about the natural world. Natural Sciences theories and laws are based on a scientific methodology (hypothetico deductive method ). The scientific method always tries to connect theory and observation, this is one manner to consistently organize our observation of the natural world . Experiments are often used in order to replicate aspects of the world in which we are interested. In fact, following this method before stating something to be true scientists needs first to arrange an hypothesis then make some tests in order to prove the theory and finally make up the law. Doing that we can say to acquire a proof and, therefore, good knowledge. One aspect of its methodology is

As in the present case, most pilgrims are men and the few other women present are nuns. One of them might be the next husband for whom she is looking out. A wealthy citizens breakfast consisted of bread with olives or cheese and lunch was usually quick with bread, cheese, and fruit(Ermatinger 1). Dinner was their main affair, and the largest meal of the day (Ermatinger 1). It contained bread, vegetables, oliveoil, cheese and meat (Ermatinger 1). • 47. Realism And Realist Approaches To International Relations On the other hand, they also share similar qualities and characteristics. Both theories realize how our world is more than capable of being a dangerous place and we should not assume we are safe at all times. Military power is recognized as being important and pragmatic, and it is understood this power can easily be abused, as much as it can be functional. Another common realization between idealist and realist approaches is because there is no absolute governmenthaving power over all countries, countries can essentially do whatever they want to each other, which includes inflicting terror, because there really isn t anything stopping them. While it is true the two approaches to international relations share some common beliefs, these beliefs are greatly outweighed by their differences. Their fundamental beliefs about how the world should function are in opposition, and they place varying levels of importance on power. Yes, military power is seen as crucial for both but realists see the military as being the sole, relevant type of power, while idealists see the opposite. They do not think military power is the most important type, and it even takes a backseat to moral and economic powers. Another major difference is their view on total world government. On one hand, idealism seeks to create a united world government, which would help create peace around the globe. On the other hand, realism believes this would not be successful as it is impossible to coerce all countries to cooperate and participate in this. Realists realize countries will be primarily looking out for themselves, and unless it greatly benefitted them, would probably not do something just to help out other countries. The term anarchy is often associated with realism along with the concept of no international government. When people hear the term, anarchy, a very negative and violent image most likely comes to mind, but that is not what the realist approach represents. Realists argue the absence of a common government simply pushes countries to be independent and to help themselves, it does not fuel conflict or terror. Another difference between the two is who they think the states are concerned about, and what they want. Idealists
