MIS-C, or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, is a rare condition where different body parts become severely inflamed. It appears to be related to COVID-19, with symptoms emerging 2-6 weeks after infection. The cause is unknown but seems to involve an excessive immune response. It affects children mostly ages 3-12. Treatment focuses on supportive care and addressing the underlying inflammation. With prompt treatment, most children recover fully, though it can occasionally be fatal if organ damage occurs.
