Translation - Past Perfect
1. John asistió a la junta a las 4 de la tarde ayer pero no encontró a nadie porque
se había pospuesto para dos días después y nadie le había avisado.
2. Julia faltó dos meses a la escuela el año pasado. Pero sacó 10 en todos sus
exámenes al final porque se había puesto al día pronto.
3. James no sacó a su perro a caminar en la mañana porque se había quedado
dormido.
4. Arnold estuvo buscando otro trabajo el mes pasado porque hicieron recorte de
personal.
5. Jacob ya había invitado a Linda a salir cuando su mejor amigo lo hizo.
6. Salvador reprobó 4 exámenes finales en su último año de sus estudios
universitarios porque se había atrasado por haber estado hospitalizado debido
a una infección intestinal.
7. Rosa tuvo que dar a un perro en adopción porque había lidiado mucho con él
por 3 años. Era bravo y había mordido a varias personas ya.
8. Los papás de Gloria no podían creer que se hubiera sacado 10 en el examen de
matemáticas. Pero su hermano les dijo que lo había vuelto a hacer.
9. Luis llegó tarde a su trabajo ayer porque su alarma no había sonado.
10. Lisa llegó llorando a su casa porque una compañera la había estado
molestando todo el día.
11. José tuvo problemas psicológicos después de que sus padres se hubieran
separado.
12. Todo mundo le preguntaba a Donald que sin por qué andaba tan contento.
Nunca les quiso decir que era porque había empezado una relación romántica
con una chica.
13. Albert llegó 30 minutos tarde a su casa porque se había encontrado por
casualidad a su mejor amigo en la primaria.
14. Alfred se enojó ayer en el club nocturno porque un desconocido le echó los
perros a su esposa.
15. Jacky regañó a su hijo ayer en la noche porque había andado toda la tarde con
sus amigos y no le había avisado a ella con quién estaba.
16. Laura no pudo tomar una pequeña siesta antes de irse al aeropuerto en el
cuarto del hotel porque ya había entregado la llave.
Past Perfect Positive and Negative

Simple Past / Past Perfect
I can't believe I (get) that apartment. I (submit) my application last
week, but I didn't think I had a chance of actually getting it. When I (show) up to
take a look around, there were at least twenty other people who (arrive) before
me. Most of them (fill, already) out their applications and were already leaving.
The landlord said I could still apply, so I did.
I (try) to fill out the form, but I couldn't answer half of the questions. They
(want) me to include references, but I didn't want to list my previous landlord
because I (have) some problems with him in the past and I knew he wouldn't
recommend me. I (end) up listing my father as a reference.
It was total luck that he (decide) to give me the apartment. It turns out that the
landlord and my father (go) to high school together. He decided that I could have
the apartment before he (look) at my credit report. I really lucked out!
