The Paul Revere
From a lieutenant of artillery to a silversmith, Paul Revere is a man of many talents. He had a bigger
impact on American history then just exclaiming, The British are coming, though. Paul Revere is
important to American society because of his participation in politics, community affairs, and wars
and his craftsmanship. Paul Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 1, 1735. Revere
was born to Apollos Rivoire, who later changed his name to Paul, and Deborah Hichman. Deborah
had grew up in Boston whereas Apollos moved to the city when he was 13. Revere was one of twelve
children and the third born. Paul Revere dropped out of school relatively young to become an
apprentice to his father who was a silversmith. In 1754, Revere s father died and being too young to
take ownership of the business, he enlisted in the army. It was during the French and Indian War that
Revere enlisted into the army. After just a short time, Revere was appointed second lieutenant of
artillery. This is where he first began a position of great success that he will use later in his life. He
spent the summer at Fort William Henry in New York. During his stay at the fort, he thoroughly
learned what his new position entailed. Not feeling that the war was his calling, he dropped out and
went home to take over family business. In August of 1757, Revere married Sarah Orne and within
just eight short months, they had their first child. The two had eight children together, but

Brief Account Of The Life And Invention Of Lewis Frederick...
The aim of this report is to give a brief account of the life and invention of Lewis Frederick Urry. As
the subject of my report, a literature search was carried out to identify facts and relevant information.
Lewis Frederick Urry became a Chemical engineer in the 1950 and was the very first person to
fabricate alkaline batteries. In conclusion he made a significant contribution in the field
electrochemistry and battery technology in the 20th century.
Introduction
Many objects that we use on a day to day basis are powered by batteries. A battery is a device that is
able to store electrical energy in the form of chemical energy, and convert that energy into electricity.
It is composed of two terminals made of different chemicals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Richard Jansen Parkes (Parkes, 2014) states that, thanks to his invention, an estimated 80% of the dry
cell batteries in the world are based on Urry s work.
Background and life of Lewis Urry
Lewis Fredrick Urry, was born in the village of Pontypool, Ontario, in Canada, on the 29th of January
in 1927. Son of Oman Urry and Ada Rowan Urry, he was one of five children, in fact, he had two
brothers and two sisters (NNDB, Tracking The Entire World, 2014). Christopher Reed (Reed, 2004)
mentions that in 1946, Lewis decided to join the Canadian army where he spent three years, and in the
1950 he graduated from the University of Toronto, with a Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering.
In the same year, Urry went to work as a manufacturer for a battery company called Eveready and in
1955 he was assigned to work in a laboratory in Cleveland, in USA, to extend the durability of the
zinc carbon batteries. Christopher Reed (Reed, 2004) also states that, he worked with several types of
battery and power cells and owned over 51 patents, including some for the rechargeable lithium
battery. He was married to a woman named Beverly Ann and he was father of three sons and two
daughters. Lewis Urry, (see figure 1) died on the 19th of October in 2004, due to illness, in
Middleburg Heights, in USA and he was buried in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, North Olmsted, USA.

Artificial Intelligence for Speech Recognition
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR SPEECH RECOGNITION
THE FUTURE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION
ABSTRACT: When you dial the telephone number of a big company, you are likely to hear the
sonorous voice of a cultured lady who responds to your call with great courtesy saying welcome to
company X. Please give me the extension number you want .You pronounces the extension number,
your name, and the name of the person you want to contact. If the called person accepts the call, the
connection is given quickly. This is artificial intelligence where an automatic call handling system is

Inevitably Artificial Intelligence has, and will continue to affecting our lives. Artificial Intelligence
(AI) Effort to develop computer based systems:  that behave like humans:  learn languages 
accomplish physical tasks  use a perceptual apparatus With the development of practical techniques
based on AI research, advocates of AI have argued that opponents of AI have repeatedly changed their
position on tasks such as computer chess or speech recognition that were previously regarded as
intelligent in order to deny the accomplishments of AI. They point out that this moving of the
goalposts effectively defines intelligence as whatever humans can do that machines cannot . A speech
recognition system is a type of software that allows the user to have their spoken words converted into
written text in a computer application such as a word processor or spreadsheet. The computer can also
be controlled by the use of spoken commands. Speech recognition software can be installed on a
personal computer of appropriate specification. The user speaks into a microphone (a headphone
microphone is usually supplied with the product). The software generally requires an initial training
and enrolment process in order to teach the software to recognize the voice of the user. A voice profile
is then produced that is unique to that individual. This procedure also helps the user to learn how to
speak to a computer.

Internal Auditing Case Study
Appreciative Internal Audit: A Strength Based Approach to Quality System Auditing A Case Study.
Jon Morris President JDQ Systems Inc. Vancouver, BC, Canada
Introduction
Traditional internal audits fulfill an important need for companies with fresh ISO 9001:2000 Quality
Management System implementations, but for companies with mature systems, those registered for
more than five years, an innovative approach to auditing called Appreciative Internal Quality Audit
can take them beyond compliance to excellence. In effect, the Appreciative Audit approach both raises
the bar and adds value for the 65,000+ North American organizations that spend a total of more than

Based on a conservative estimate by JDQ, North American companies spend more than $4.5 billion on
planning, conducting and reporting internal audits each year. This estimate is based on 2005 estimates
of ISO registered companies in North America for whom internal audits are mandatory. The estimates
do not include companies that audit their business management systems on a voluntary basis. See

The Benefits Of Summer Break
Students often wonder how fun it would be if they had a three week break every nine weeks, as
opposed to one long summer break. Changing summer break into much shorter, but more frequent
breaks would be beneficial for many reasons. Just think, most students lose up to one month of
knowledge over the summer. Although most students could go to a learning camp over the summer,
lower income students cannot afford this as summer break is financially taxing on them. Finally, while
lower income and higher income students may have their differences, all students stay up late over
summer break. Staying up late causes these students to get out of their school routine. It is a wonder
why the US education system hasn t already turned summer break into ... Show more content on

After all the students spend hours each day and night trying to complete school and homework. Ruby
Mullin( 2015) says this about the idea of shortening summer break This idea is mean; there s no other
word for it. Children need to calm down and have a good holiday at the end of a busy school year .
Some Professors, like Chet Stetson(2013) say Not only is the school year hard on the kids, it is
straining on the adults as well. We have to work overtime to grade papers and prepare lessons . Now
the professors have to work even harder with more kids filling up every class. So students and
professors alike do have valid reasons to believe that summer break should stay as it is. However,
other possible break orientations have potential. By splitting summer break into more, but with
smaller breaks, students and teachers alike would have a short break every few weeks. This would
give students time to calm down and give teachers time to prepare lessons and grade

The Importance Of The Warrior Class In Japan
The Warrior class were part of the social class in Japan that included Shoguns, Daimyos and Samurais.
The Shoguns would rule the Daimyos, who had control over the Samurais. Japan s warrior class led to
a lasting effect, enhanced weapons and effect on the social class which led to the alteration of the
warrior class roles.
In Japan, during the end of the first millennium, the samurai went to war with the emperor. This war is
known as the Genpei War and the Emperor was defeated by the Samurai. This led to the first
established shogunate. During the Edo period (1603 1868) or also known as the Tokugawa shogunate,
there was an era of stability that led to the rise of shoguns. Shoguns were considered the single ruler of
Japan although, the emperor was above the shoguns on the social class. Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled Japan
for 15 generations, controlling about 25% of the peoples land, leaving the rest of the 75% to be put
into domains, ruled by 275 daimyos. The shogun of Japan controlled government, however, when the
Meiji Restoration began in the 19th century, Japans stable society ended and the Shoguns lost all
power, due to Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry was a Christian who was seen as a threat to Japan as he
wanted to create a divide within Japan. Japan was split into two sections, one being the shogunate and
its supporters to remain in power and the Japanese nationalists who wanted the Emperor to regain
power. This divide in Japan led to a civil war known as the Boshin war or the

Examples Of Value Chain Analysis
Value Chain Analysis
Value Chain Analysis is a tool that used to identify the company s primary and support activities that
can creates value for the product to the customers, to analyze the activities to be cost leadership or
differentiation strategy and eventually to develop a competitive advantage and create shareholders
value. By simply explaining of creating value, a company takes raw inputs (timber) and to add value
(designing and manufacturing) to them by converting them into something of worth to people for
paying money for it (furniture).
In book Competitive Advantage of Michael Porter, he introduced the idea of generic value chain
model in 1985. The value chain comprises a sequences of internal activities that a company performs
to design, produce, market, deliver and support (after sale services) the product. Value chain activities
consist of (1) primary activities are directly involved in adding value through transforming raw input
to output, delivering and offering after sale services on the final product and (2)support activities are
internal company function that support primary activities and indirectly add value to the products. By
looking into both activities, the company can identify their competitive advantage and disadvantage.

What Impression of Inman is created in chapter 1 of Cold Mountain?
Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader to feel
involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a feeling of
superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s great uncle.
This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation.
He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to affect
his feelings in a very negative way.
An example of this is where he thinks about how he obtained his wound.
This shows his strength of character both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the
weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he
has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only
thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes
that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has
affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find
someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man
Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because
Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has
forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels
towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also
shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the
Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he
listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This also shows that he has a
lot of self esteem and although he is very open minded he has strongly

Tourism Dubai
About Dubai
Dubai is one of the major cities in the UAE. Dubai is located south of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian
Peninsula. Dubai is located on the emirate s northern coastline and has the largest population with the
second largest land territory by area of all the emirates, after Abu Dhabi. Dubai is surrounded by Saudi
Arabia on its southern and western borders while northern and eastern borders are shared with the
Sultanate of Oman. The neighbouring cities of Dubai are Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah and Umma al

The Church On Earth
For the Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real but imperfect. 1 Throughout
history, God has used many events, personalities and desicions to bring his pilgrim Church closer to
the fullness of sanctity He desires for it. Although throughout history the Church has found herself
confronted with controversy, pain and the imperfect nature of humanity, these moments often brought
opportunities for God to manifest Himself in ways that continue to impact Catholics today. The Holy
Spirit s intervention in dark times has allowed the Church to continue forward. It has impacted history
as a whole, bringing light to a world covered by the cloud of sin. Within this reality, I have found three

In this way, St. Paul practiced inculturation, which we continue to see around the world. There are so
many rich and beautiful articulations of the Catholic faith around the world, which not take away from
the universiality of the Church, but rather displays it. St. Paul encouraged this as he founded churches
in different areas, guiding them through the unique challenges of each culture. This is shown in his
letters, as each carries a special significance to those whom he directly addressed (i.e. Letter to the
Romans, Letter to the Hebrews). Even so, they still apply to us today. His theological insights into the
life and teachings of Christ are the foundation upon which many of doctrines stand, including the
Catholic understanding of suffering in union with Christ. Also, St. Paul s own conversion from
persecutor to apostle powerfully reminds us that it is never too late to turn to Christ. My birthday is
the feast of St. Paul s conversion. Personally, St. Paul s teachings, written two thousand years ago, still

Disobedience In 1984
Societies subject to totalitarian reign experience a complete degradation of both civil and natural born
rights. Entire populations are forced to follow a strict regimen, often against their free will and good
judgement. In 1984, George Orwell warns of such corrupted power of a totalitarian regime. Big
Brother instills a looming fear that agitates the people of Oceania, which, in the hearts of some, ignites
a cry of rebellion. Those trying to peacefully challenge the system, much like Winston and Julia, are
met with a cruel fate of reassimilation. Under totalitarian rule of Big Brother, such actions of civil
disobedience are not effective because of the government s disinterest of citizen acceptance,
unrelenting power, and a complete control ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eliminating the knowledge of past protests and resources pertaining to them from the history books,
allows the population to remain ignorant on the subject. This control over the media is censorship at
its worst. In a very similar instance, the Russian population is also currently experiencing this
restriction of knowledge. All Russian media is now controlled by the government just like in Soviet
times... In March, the Kremlin put Chinese government like restrictions on the Internet, and cracked
down on the few remaining independent news outlets and bloggers left in Russia (McIntosh 300). As
the state unites under one media source, the people are forced to accept the Putin s government
sanctioned propaganda outlet. This systematic withdrawal of all news sources denies the Russian
people exposure to anything else. The same could be said for the censorship of the internet in North
Korea. The contents of the web site consist mostly of political propaganda such as the superiority of
the North Korean regime, the North Korean leader s greatness, North Korean people s happiness, and
attacks on the US and the South Korean (Cheng et al. 659). Riddled with deceit, nothing but a positive
view on the North Korean regime is permitted to be posted. This limitation of speech is a hazard to not
only the views of the people, but any hope for progression. With the fear of

John Locke s Identification Of Natural Rights Essay
Locke s identification of natural rights John Locke, one of the founders of our great country, had three
natural rights that he believed in life, liberty, and estate. These natural rights still exist today within the
American law. John Locke s identification of natural rights fits well with American law because John
Locke had a big influence on the shaping of American government and laws. The extent of liberty that
each American has is still the same as when Locke came up with this natural right. In America, people
still get to make their own decisions on their religious views, what lifestyle they want to live, their
political views, and how they act. American people still have the freedom of liberty to do what they
want and make their own choices. As well as liberty American people all have the natural right to life

businesses without being ran by the government or the government having to much of a say on what

capitalism system that allows for people to invest, produce, and sell goods and services in exchange

occurring abundance of the earth (the land, forests, rivers, and so on), were justified in taking the
products of that effort for their own as private property, which is what America s economic system is a

Racism In The Southern Colonies Essay
Racism between blacks and whites became more pronounced in the southern colonies. The colonists
in the 17th century supposedly took religion a lot more seriously than the people of America today do.
William Berkeley, the governor of Virginia, declared his colony to officially be Anglican in 1642.
William Berkeley even went on to require colonists with different religious beliefs to leave the colony.
To add, crops played a major role in the colonies. The southern colonies had the advantage of climate.
This climate allowed the southern colonists to grow different things. Some of crops this climate
allowed them to grow were tobacco and rice. Because of this, the production of tobacco in Virginia

These people became known as voluntary indentured servants. However, not all servants were
voluntary. Once they arrived in America, they became their master s property and had to do what the

Bystander Effect
The Bystander Effect
Everybody wants to be a hero and to change the world. To make it a better place and make a
difference. So why then in the face of danger do we back down? Why do we just stand by as cruel
things happen to good people. Science has coined this term as the bystander effect. The bystander
effect is defined as, a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases in which individuals do not
offer any means of help to a victim when other people are present. You can see this effect in full in the
movie, The Hunger Games, as people just stand by and let the killing of innocent children happen year
after year.
Now this might seem like a crazy idea because in you mind if someone really needed help you would
always help. This is not always the case though. In the book, No One Helped : Kitty Genovese, New
York City, and the Myth of Urban Apathy, the author, Marcia Gallo, highlights the events that
happened that lead to the understanding of the event known as the Bystander Effect. It was because of
this event, that the term bystander effect was first used and brought to light not only to the scientific
community but also to the public. March 27, 1964 Kitty Genovese ... Show more content on

And more importantly, why does this happen. Well there are a number of different reasons that this
happens.in the book, Bystander Apathy and the Territorial Imperative, A.R Gillis and John Hagan
highlight the science behind the Bystander Effect. They highlight the finding that one of the reasons
that people fail to get involved is the idea of disorganization; the idea that in high stimuli situations,
such as city life, one s stress is increased and the need to blend in and not cause attention increases.
Another reason that people fail to get involved is because they do not know the other people involved.

Zeffirelli And Hamlet Comparative Essay
When examining Kenneth Branagh s (1996) and Franco Zeffirelli s (1990) film of Hamlet both
directors interpret William Shakespeare s work quite differently. Both films excel in different aspects
demonstrating strengths and weaknesses on either side. Branagh explores Hamlet as a vengeful
character somewhat more as Shakespeare had intended. Zeffirelli emphasizes the dialogue in the film
using the tone rather than developing the character based on hatred. However despite the films
differences they both effectively capture the overall essence of indecision leading to personal tragedy.
Hamlet s inability to take decisive action ultimately results in many of the characters dying, including
himself. Scenes such as Hamlet s To be or Not to be soliloquy in Act III, Scene I; the dueling scene

By looking in the mirror, he uses it as a self confidence method to reassure himself about his plan of
revenge. Branagh s continuous efforts remain constant throughout the movie where his anger and
revenge get the better of him. His soliloquy the anger that Hamlet has towards his father s murder.
Branagh continuously illustrates his discontent for his mother and uncle. Nonetheless, Zeffirelli sets
the scene with Hamlet played by Mel Gibson surrounded by corpses, ideal for the thought of suicide.
Even so this appears to be the most sane depiction of Hamlet, as he doesn t truly seem to be
contemplating suicide. Gibson begins his soliloquy already aware of the fact that he has no intention
of murdering himself. Instead, he laments his belief that suicide is not a choice. Gibson places less
importance on the opening line, allowing the viewer to concentrate on the significance of the soliloquy

of a mental change rather than just a physical change to break a behavior regardless if it s six months
or shorter. In this case, I had two weeks to change a behavior I did on a daily basis. For this paper I
worked on two things that I wanted to work on. First, It was not wearing makeup for a week and
second, I really wanted to subtract dairy products from my diet. After I give a reflection of my
experience, I will being to talk about my internship and how we encourage a change behavior within
our families. I wanted to focus eliminating dairy products in my daily intake and find a substitute if
possible. I didn t realize how much milk, cheese and eggs I ate throughout the day until I had to find a
habit to change. I would eat cereal in the morning because it was the easiest breakfast, eggs for either
breakfast or dinner and cheese with almost everything I ate. At school, It seemed like I would gravite
my way to dairy products naturally like pizza, sandwiches, or coffee. Taking dairy products out of my
diet has always been something I wanted to try doing, but I never seemed to happened. Reason being,
I believe dairy products affect my digestive system and might be causing me to have acne more than
usual(that s just my theory). When I started, I substituted milk for Almond milk and didn t eat or buy
anything made with eggs or cheese. During this week, I struggled a lot with

Tumacacori Research Paper
Traveling to Tumacacori took me about twenty five minutes to half an hour to get there. The first thing
that I saw at Tumacacori was the mission and the front of the church. The front of the church used to
be painted with bright colors. The pediment of the church was reconstructed in 1921. The church is
made up of three stories the baptistery which is on the ground floor, the robing room on the next floor
and the last floor is where the bell and the arches are found. The inside of the church is called the nave
which is the central part of the church. The first thing that I saw when I walked in the church was the
ruins and what caught my attention a lot was that there was a cross made out of flowers in the center
of the alter. This church was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tombs were destroyed by weather, treasure hunters and by cattle. In the nineteenth century the
cemetery was used to round up cattle. When families started moving back to Tumacacori in 1900 they
knew or suspected that it was a cemetery and called it Campo Santo which means holy grounds and
used it again to bury the dead. Juanita Alegria was the last person buried at Tumacacori which was in
1916. 593 burials were recorded at Tumacacori between 1755 and 1825. My next stop was the store
house which was a very nice and pretty building. In this building they stored food like meat
vegetables, fruit, grains and wheat. In this building there was a set of stairs which use to lead to a
second story were additional food and animal fodder was stored. The Lime Kiln was used to store tons
of raw material to fix building. Here at the lime kiln they would heat up the rock and it would convert
into powder and then after that they would soak the powder in water for a day or two and that s when
the paste was made. The melhok ki was the next place where I went to. Melhok Ki is an O odham

The Underground Railroad was a network of people, African American as well as Caucasians, who

describe a network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe houses used by slaves in the
U.S. to escape slave holding states to northern states and Canada It developed as a joint effort of
several different clandestine groups most notably the Quakers who were the first known group to take

The Role Of Graphene On Technological Development Today
The role of graphene in technological development today and in the future
In recent years, the field of nanotechnology developed at a spectacular rate. Scientists argued that
substances behaved differently in a bigger (macro) level compared to a micro level. One of the major
growths of nanotechnology originated from a simple pencil lead; a humble pencil lead that breaks
easily with small amount of force. However, when we divide the pencil lead into just one atom thick,
suddenly its strength and conductivity behavior changes significantly. In fact, the material is recorded
for its amazing feat. It is recorded as the best electrical and thermal conductor in the world. Even
though the material is known to be harder than a diamond, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first ever recorded history of graphene occurred in 1859 where Benjamin Brodie mixed graphite
with strong acids (Geim, 2012). He thought that he found a new allotrope (structure) of carbon.
However, we now know that instead of finding a new allotrope of carbon, he found graphene oxide
(Geim). In 1962, German chemist Hanns Peter Boehm picked up where Brodie left off and produced a
residue of graphene oxide which is now known as graphene. They then introduced the term graphene
for the first time in history. He gave the name graphene based on the combination of graphite, its raw
material, and the suffix ene to signify its aromatic hydrocarbon characteristics (Geim). However, it
was Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov who made a big hit through their paper in graphene. These
scientists from Manchester University discovered graphene through an unorthodox method. In the
book Graphene: Fundamentals and emergent applications, Jamie H. Warner (2012) stated that how
these scientists used a scotch tape to discover graphene. They started off with graphite of a pencil, and
started removing layers after layers until they were left with a single layer of graphite called graphene.
For their ingenious yet simple technique, they were awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics for their
groundbreaking experiments regarding the two dimensional material graphene (Warner).
Before the discovery of graphene in real life, scientists were skeptical with the idea of a 2D carbon

1) Water is a very important component of life, our bodies are mostly comprised of water and water

organisms depends on some type of water source. Plants, animals, and insects can not survive absent
of water wether it is a couple of days or a couple of months. Water is a special element of life because
of its chemical bonds, the chemical formula for water is H2O, which means that water contains two
hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. These atoms are held together by hydrogen bonds, the
hydrogen bonds. The strong cohesive bond of the atoms in water are important, this makes water

Zoës Kitchen began in 1995 as a family run restaurant in Homewood, Alabama. The company s
owner, president CEO, John Cassismus had turned his attention from his own business ventures to the
family business, with desires to build a world class company. Mostly frequented by mothers with
small children and white collar employees in the area, the restaurant catered to those consumers with a
desire for healthy foods at comparatively lower prices. As of December 2005 there were 16 locations
in five different states. The brand was strong and synonymous with freshness, home style goodness

different and had no national rivals emulating its format or menu. SWOT AnalysisStrengthsIt is clear
that the major strength for Zoës Kitchen is its people. First, John Cassismus himself is an asset worth
discussing. John built the company from a single, family run restaurant into the existing 16 location
operation. Dear to his heart, John fostered the business which was inspired from the kitchen of his

large economies of scale (for cost cutting purposes), his knowledge did allow him to recognize the
importance of excellent human resource management, a clearly defined strategy, building brand
loyalty and strong business systems. Second, John built a healthy workforce with well trained

Chapter Four: Data Analysis and Findings The purpose of the study was to measure growth in
American war history and musicality while learning repertoire from various war periods, identifying
the major wars of the United States with dates, and describing the origins of Veteran s Day. Ten
different sub questions and research instruments were used to measure growth during the process of
preparing for the Veterans Day Concert. Each instrument was inserted into Google Forms and
delivered to each student via Google Classroom. Pre Tests were given to students during the third
week of school. Post tests were given to students two weeks prior to the final performance. Scores
may have been effected by possible guessing or misspelled words in the students written responses.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Market Economy
Market Economy A market economy is one of the types of economies. In this particular economy
economic decisions and the pricing of goods and services are done by the citizens and businesses of
the economy. The market economy is the complete opposite of a command economy. Adam Smith,
David Ricardo and Jean Baptiste developed the idea of a market economy in the late 19th early 20th
centuries. With a market economy the idea is based off of a supply and demand system with citizens
and businesses. With this system there is rarely or ever any government involvement. Almost all
governments nowadays have this type of economic system infiltrated in their economy in some way.
They will either have a full market economy or they will have a mixed economy which is most
common, this is an economy with some government influence but mainly based off citizens and
businesses. In my opinion I think there are advantages and disadvantages to this economic system. I ll
start with the disadvantages. One of the main disadvantages would be not having a deciding power or
having someone in charge to step in when something doesn t make sense or is a bad idea that becomes
undecided between citizens and businesses. Another disadvantage is that sometimes too much freedom
can be a bad thing, free reign to do what you want can be cool and nice until people start using that
freedom in a negative way. However there are also advantages, one of them being the absolute
freedom and the ability to do and vote

What Is The Dehydration Of An Alcohol
Introduction An alcohol is composed of a hydroxyl group attached to a saturated carbon atom.
Alcohols on a molecular level can be transformed into alkenes. For this reaction to occur, the alcohol
must be dehydrated. Alcohols are capable of being transformed under two known reaction
mechanisms, E1 and E2. These mechanisms allow for the dehydration of water and the formation of a
double bond which is created into a synthesized alkene. The dehydration of an alcohol can occur in
one of two ways. The first way is through being acid catalyzed. This reaction occurs when the acid is
presented, and interaction is presented between both the acid and the potential leaving group. As
known the hydroxy group is unstable, and not a good leaving group, therefore is needed to be
protonated for the detachment of the hydroxy group to take place. In base promoted dehydration, the
second method of transforming an alcohol to an alkene, is based on the same concept. The leaving
group must be turned stable to be able to become a good leaving group. The difference between the
two possible reactions is that base promoted is not reversible. It is not able to be reacted with the
alkene in the opposite process. In addition, base promoted and E2 elimination reactions are favorable
only when the acidic medium is not able to proficiently complete the reaction. In times when the acid
is not able to proceed the reaction, there are certain factors that are used that are able to yield desirable
products. Issues seen when a molecule is reacted with a strong acid unexpected rearrangement of
carbocations can arise. Moreover, double bond migrations can appear sometimes in the presence of
strong acids; however, because this is able to occur during hydrogenation, a base can reduce the
occurrence of the migration. There are also changes in the stereochemistry that can possibly occur, as
well as side reaction materials such as ethers. When these issues are faced, base promoted elimination
is a better way for the reaction to be continued. As previously mentioned, acid catalyzed as well as
base promoted must be able to create the hydroxy group into a good leaving group by protonation.
According to base promoted reactions, the base that is consumed is

Roofing Research
Calculating the quantity of materials needed for a roofing job can be complicated, especially if the
roof is complex. It can also be dangerous; some roofs are so complex that the only way to get an
accurate estimate is to climb onto the roof and measure each plane separately. In addition to
determining the quantity of shingles, you must also determine how much underlayment, drip edge,
flashing and other products will be required. For all of these reasons, it is best to have a professional
roofing contractor determine the materials needed for the job. However, if you are just trying to get a
rough estimate, the following information may help.

Estimating Materials Based on Actual Measurements
Measuring each roof plane requires you to actually go onto your roof. If your roof has a number of
planes and numerous hips, ridges and valleys, this is the most accurate way to calculate the materials
needed. Take a metal tape measure and a pen and paper. Measure each plane s length and width.
Record your measurements. Once you are safely on the ground, use your measurements to determine
the square footage.
For rectangular areas, multiply the length by the width. For example, if a plane measures 30 feet by

escape to the new world of beliefs and attitudes. However, these obstacles may be overcome to result
in growth and change. The drama text Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah, soft revolution, by Alana Valentine
and Shrinking women by Lily Myers focuses on the detailed harsh nature of obstacles when
complying with a shift to the new world. In Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah, soft revolution, Shafana a
young Afghanistan Australian Muslim migrant ventures onto a spiritually journey during which she
particularly explores the difficulty of decision making and the homogonous of humanity. Shrinking
Women exposes the obstacle of the pressure on women to maintain a slim body image while

Sophocles Vs. Euripides The Peloponnesian War
When choosing a poet to give Athens much needed advice to hopefully save it from what seems to be
the inevitable end to the Peloponnesian war, one might consider either Euripides or Aeschylus. Both
are excellent tragedians. Based on one s political beliefs, one will probably easily choose one over
because they stand on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Euripides is for a more socially
progressive state whereas Aeschylus is for a more conservative form. However, there is a third, and in
fact better option. Aristophanes, as a result of preferring comedy over tragedy and discussing more
important issues within his works, such as the state of contemporary politics, is the obvious candidate
who would give Athens the best, most convincing advice. Each poet has their own method of
convincing people. Aeschylus appeals to the citizens negative emotions, such as fear, melancholy, or
hate by depicting the character Clytemnestra as completely evil and Agamemnon and Orestes as
innocent and morally upright (Aeschylus, Libation Bearers, p.100 102). Aeschylus goes into great
detail convincing the audience of the great injustice that Orestes went through and expects them to
believe that his actions are, as a result, justifiable. He then presents Orestes fearful for his life but
confident in what the gods have told him after he commits the murder as he flees from the Furies to
seek help from Athena. While this method of storytelling can be convincing, it is not what people
need.

Blend And Double
Blend and double
Let s talk about a few tricks that have been used on some famous recordings but still seem to be a bit
of a mystery to plenty of audio engineers. Just like with compression, you have to be able to handle
the concept of subtlety in order to use these tricks without it turning into an overdone disco. Blend
these tricked up sounds into your bass mix quiet enough to where no one could pick out what you are
doing but loud enough to where they add something to the bass guitar.
Create an evil twin

copy through something that will provide some overdrive. The SansAmp is perfect for this.

The rule of subtlety still applies here. We are not trying to reinvent the bass here, just reinforce it a bit.
Don t fool yourself
I will leave just a few words about your monitoring setup and then leave the rest of that subject for an
article dedicated to good studio monitoring. The point here is that you are not going to be able to
record, judge, or mix bass parts unless you can hear them in your studio. It sounds simplistic but; if
you can t hear it, you can t use it properly.
Turn it down
I know. Those three words really bring me down too. Aren t we supposed to be defiantly cranking it
loud and proud regardless of what the neighbors think? In this case, the answer is no. If you are
listening to your bass tracks at ear splitting levels, you are artificially making it appear as though your
bass tracks have range and backbone.
Monitor your tracks at a moderate level. If you can create a sound that is full and punchy at these low
levels, they are going to sound amazing when you crank it to ear shattering, cop calling ultra mode.
Balance your subwoofer
If you are using a subwoofer as part of your studio monitoring scheme. Ask yourself if you are using it
to extend the true range of your monitoring abilities or to disproportionately jack up the bass you hear
so it sounds nice in the studio. Trust me, you want the first choice. Use a variable sine wave generator

some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate organism intercellular
function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it from infection, regulate
blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate can be affected by pH,
temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology Department, 2014). If pH levels are
not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes will change its shape so the enzyme will
not be able to combine with the substrates, which will prohibit the converting of the substrate to
product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in
the solution so if the temperature increase the molecules movement will increase and this will increase
the rate of reaction until the point that the energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from
binding due to the fact that the active site of the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If
enzymes concentration increase the amount of product per unit time will increase too, while the total
amount of product will not change (Richard Mark, 2001). It is important

  • 2. The Paul Revere From a lieutenant of artillery to a silversmith, Paul Revere is a man of many talents. He had a bigger impact on American history then just exclaiming, The British are coming, though. Paul Revere is important to American society because of his participation in politics, community affairs, and wars and his craftsmanship. Paul Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 1, 1735. Revere was born to Apollos Rivoire, who later changed his name to Paul, and Deborah Hichman. Deborah had grew up in Boston whereas Apollos moved to the city when he was 13. Revere was one of twelve children and the third born. Paul Revere dropped out of school relatively young to become an apprentice to his father who was a silversmith. In 1754, Revere s father died and being too young to take ownership of the business, he enlisted in the army. It was during the French and Indian War that Revere enlisted into the army. After just a short time, Revere was appointed second lieutenant of artillery. This is where he first began a position of great success that he will use later in his life. He spent the summer at Fort William Henry in New York. During his stay at the fort, he thoroughly learned what his new position entailed. Not feeling that the war was his calling, he dropped out and went home to take over family business. In August of 1757, Revere married Sarah Orne and within just eight short months, they had their first child. The two had eight children together, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inevitably Artificial Intelligence has, and will continue to affecting our lives. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Effort to develop computer based systems:  that behave like humans:  learn languages  accomplish physical tasks  use a perceptual apparatus With the development of practical techniques based on AI research, advocates of AI have argued that opponents of AI have repeatedly changed their position on tasks such as computer chess or speech recognition that were previously regarded as intelligent in order to deny the accomplishments of AI. They point out that this moving of the goalposts effectively defines intelligence as whatever humans can do that machines cannot . A speech recognition system is a type of software that allows the user to have their spoken words converted into written text in a computer application such as a word processor or spreadsheet. The computer can also be controlled by the use of spoken commands. Speech recognition software can be installed on a personal computer of appropriate specification. The user speaks into a microphone (a headphone microphone is usually supplied with the product). The software generally requires an initial training and enrolment process in order to teach the software to recognize the voice of the user. A voice profile is then produced that is unique to that individual. This procedure also helps the user to learn how to speak to a computer. WORKING: The user speaks ... Changing summer break into much shorter, but more frequent breaks would be beneficial for many reasons. Just think, most students lose up to one month of knowledge over the summer. Although most students could go to a learning camp over the summer, lower income students cannot afford this as summer break is financially taxing on them. Finally, while lower income and higher income students may have their differences, all students stay up late over summer break. Ruby Mullin( 2015) says this about the idea of shortening summer break This idea is mean; there s no other word for it. Some Professors, like Chet Stetson(2013) say Not only is the school year hard on the kids, it is straining on the adults as well. We have to work overtime to grade papers and prepare lessons . Now the professors have to work even harder with more kids filling up every class. So students and professors alike do have valid reasons to believe that summer break should stay as it is. The Shoguns would rule the Daimyos, who had control over the Samurais. Japan s warrior class led to a lasting effect, enhanced weapons and effect on the social class which led to the alteration of the warrior class roles. In Japan, during the end of the first millennium, the samurai went to war with the emperor. This war is known as the Genpei War and the Emperor was defeated by the Samurai. This led to the first established shogunate. During the Edo period (1603 1868) or also known as the Tokugawa shogunate, there was an era of stability that led to the rise of shoguns. Shoguns were considered the single ruler of Japan although, the emperor was above the shoguns on the social class. Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled Japan for 15 generations, controlling about 25% of the peoples land, leaving the rest of the 75% to be put into domains, ruled by 275 daimyos. The shogun of Japan controlled government, however, when the Meiji Restoration began in the 19th century, Japans stable society ended and the Shoguns lost all power, due to Matthew Perry. By simply explaining of creating value, a company takes raw inputs (timber) and to add value (designing and manufacturing) to them by converting them into something of worth to people for paying money for it (furniture). Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader to feel involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a feeling of superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s great uncle. This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation. He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to affect his feelings in a very negative way. The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This also shows that he has a lot of self esteem and although he is very open minded he has strongly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although throughout history the Church has found herself confronted with controversy, pain and the imperfect nature of humanity, these moments often brought opportunities for God to manifest Himself in ways that continue to impact Catholics today. The Holy Spirit s intervention in dark times has allowed the Church to continue forward. It has impacted history as a whole, bringing light to a world covered by the cloud of sin. There are so many rich and beautiful articulations of the Catholic faith around the world, which not take away from the universiality of the Church, but rather displays it. St. Paul encouraged this as he founded churches in different areas, guiding them through the unique challenges of each culture. This is shown in his letters, as each carries a special significance to those whom he directly addressed (i.e. Letter to the Romans, Letter to the Hebrews). Even so, they still apply to us today. His theological insights into the life and teachings of Christ are the foundation upon which many of doctrines stand, including the Catholic understanding of suffering in union with Christ. Also, St. Paul s own conversion from persecutor to apostle powerfully reminds us that it is never too late to turn to Christ. My birthday is the feast of St. Paul s conversion. Chapter Four: Data Analysis and Findings The purpose of the study was to measure growth in American war history and musicality while learning repertoire from various war periods, identifying the major wars of the United States with dates, and describing the origins of Veteran s Day. Ten different sub questions and research instruments were used to measure growth during the process of preparing for the Veterans Day Concert. Each instrument was inserted into Google Forms and delivered to each student via Google Classroom. Pre Tests were given to students during the third week of school. Post tests were given to students two weeks prior to the final performance. Scores may have been effected by possible guessing or misspelled words in the students written responses. The data is reflective of the hypothesis in the fact that sixth grade students scored low and eighth grade students scored higher on the pretests. • 31. Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Market Economy Market Economy A market economy is one of the types of economies. In this particular economy economic decisions and the pricing of goods and services are done by the citizens and businesses of the economy. The market economy is the complete opposite of a command economy. Adam Smith, David Ricardo and Jean Baptiste developed the idea of a market economy in the late 19th early 20th centuries. With a market economy the idea is based off of a supply and demand system with citizens and businesses. With this system there is rarely or ever any government involvement. Almost all governments nowadays have this type of economic system infiltrated in their economy in some way. They will either have a full market economy or they will have a mixed economy which is most common, this is an economy with some government influence but mainly based off citizens and businesses. In my opinion I think there are advantages and disadvantages to this economic system. I ll start with the disadvantages. One of the main disadvantages would be not having a deciding power or having someone in charge to step in when something doesn t make sense or is a bad idea that becomes undecided between citizens and businesses. Another disadvantage is that sometimes too much freedom can be a bad thing, free reign to do what you want can be cool and nice until people start using that freedom in a negative way. However there are also advantages, one of them being the absolute freedom and the ability to do and vote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. What Is The Dehydration Of An Alcohol Introduction An alcohol is composed of a hydroxyl group attached to a saturated carbon atom. Alcohols on a molecular level can be transformed into alkenes. For this reaction to occur, the alcohol must be dehydrated. Alcohols are capable of being transformed under two known reaction mechanisms, E1 and E2. These mechanisms allow for the dehydration of water and the formation of a double bond which is created into a synthesized alkene. The dehydration of an alcohol can occur in one of two ways. The first way is through being acid catalyzed. This reaction occurs when the acid is presented, and interaction is presented between both the acid and the potential leaving group. As known the hydroxy group is unstable, and not a good leaving group, therefore is needed to be protonated for the detachment of the hydroxy group to take place. In base promoted dehydration, the second method of transforming an alcohol to an alkene, is based on the same concept. The leaving group must be turned stable to be able to become a good leaving group. The difference between the two possible reactions is that base promoted is not reversible. It is not able to be reacted with the alkene in the opposite process. In addition, base promoted and E2 elimination reactions are favorable only when the acidic medium is not able to proficiently complete the reaction. In times when the acid is not able to proceed the reaction, there are certain factors that are used that are able to yield desirable products. Issues seen when a molecule is reacted with a strong acid unexpected rearrangement of carbocations can arise. Moreover, double bond migrations can appear sometimes in the presence of strong acids; however, because this is able to occur during hydrogenation, a base can reduce the occurrence of the migration. There are also changes in the stereochemistry that can possibly occur, as well as side reaction materials such as ethers. When these issues are faced, base promoted elimination is a better way for the reaction to be continued. As previously mentioned, acid catalyzed as well as base promoted must be able to create the hydroxy group into a good leaving group by protonation. According to base promoted reactions, the base that is consumed is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Roofing Research Calculating the quantity of materials needed for a roofing job can be complicated, especially if the roof is complex. It can also be dangerous; some roofs are so complex that the only way to get an accurate estimate is to climb onto the roof and measure each plane separately. In addition to determining the quantity of shingles, you must also determine how much underlayment, drip edge, flashing and other products will be required. For all of these reasons, it is best to have a professional roofing contractor determine the materials needed for the job. However, if you are just trying to get a rough estimate, the following information may help. Definition of Terms Before continuing, it might be helpful to define certain terms used. A square ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You will need at least 14.756 squares of roofing. However, you should add about 10 percent for starter strips, valleys, waste and hip and ridge. Estimating Materials Based on Actual Measurements Measuring each roof plane requires you to actually go onto your roof. If your roof has a number of planes and numerous hips, ridges and valleys, this is the most accurate way to calculate the materials needed. Take a metal tape measure and a pen and paper. Measure each plane s length and width. Record your measurements. Once you are safely on the ground, use your measurements to determine the square footage. For rectangular areas, multiply the length by the width. For example, if a plane measures 30 feet by 100 feet, this would be 3,000 square ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. `` Shafana And Aunt Sarrinah, Soft Revolution `` By Alana... Through exploring transitions, one may face challenging and conflicting barriers that prevent an escape to the new world of beliefs and attitudes. However, these obstacles may be overcome to result in growth and change. The drama text Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah, soft revolution, by Alana Valentine and Shrinking women by Lily Myers focuses on the detailed harsh nature of obstacles when complying with a shift to the new world. In Shafana and Aunt Sarrinah, soft revolution, Shafana a young Afghanistan Australian Muslim migrant ventures onto a spiritually journey during which she particularly explores the difficulty of decision making and the homogonous of humanity. Shrinking Women exposes the obstacle of the pressure on women to maintain a slim body image while complying with their mother s traditions. The process of making decisions when growing up acts as a barrier, in particular the uncertainty and risk involved which makes the decision challenging and confusing. The post adolescence stage has Shafana in a bizarre stage of life where she must take full responsibility for her decisions and actions. In the beginning of the play the word veil is symbolic for the foreshadowing of the play to recognize the veil of knowing and surrender to unknowing, Shafana. Here the veil is symbolic of the uncertainty that waits when escaping the societal criteria and transitioning to adulthood and life wearing the hijab. • 36. Sophocles Vs. Euripides The Peloponnesian War When choosing a poet to give Athens much needed advice to hopefully save it from what seems to be the inevitable end to the Peloponnesian war, one might consider either Euripides or Aeschylus. Both are excellent tragedians. Based on one s political beliefs, one will probably easily choose one over because they stand on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Euripides is for a more socially progressive state whereas Aeschylus is for a more conservative form. However, there is a third, and in fact better option. Aristophanes, as a result of preferring comedy over tragedy and discussing more important issues within his works, such as the state of contemporary politics, is the obvious candidate who would give Athens the best, most convincing advice. Each poet has their own method of convincing people. Aeschylus appeals to the citizens negative emotions, such as fear, melancholy, or hate by depicting the character Clytemnestra as completely evil and Agamemnon and Orestes as innocent and morally upright (Aeschylus, Libation Bearers, p.100 102). Aeschylus goes into great detail convincing the audience of the great injustice that Orestes went through and expects them to believe that his actions are, as a result, justifiable. He then presents Orestes fearful for his life but confident in what the gods have told him after he commits the murder as he flees from the Furies to seek help from Athena. While this method of storytelling can be convincing, it is not what people need. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Blend And Double Blend and double Let s talk about a few tricks that have been used on some famous recordings but still seem to be a bit of a mystery to plenty of audio engineers. Just like with compression, you have to be able to handle the concept of subtlety in order to use these tricks without it turning into an overdone disco. Blend these tricked up sounds into your bass mix quiet enough to where no one could pick out what you are doing but loud enough to where they add something to the bass guitar. Create an evil twin If a bass guitar does not seem to be cutting through a mix, try creating a duplicate track and run the copy through something that will provide some overdrive. The SansAmp is perfect for this. Overdriven tones can be dialed in with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rule of subtlety still applies here. We are not trying to reinvent the bass here, just reinforce it a bit. Don t fool yourself I will leave just a few words about your monitoring setup and then leave the rest of that subject for an article dedicated to good studio monitoring. The point here is that you are not going to be able to record, judge, or mix bass parts unless you can hear them in your studio. It sounds simplistic but; if you can t hear it, you can t use it properly. Turn it down I know. Those three words really bring me down too. Aren t we supposed to be defiantly cranking it loud and proud regardless of what the neighbors think? In this case, the answer is no. If you are listening to your bass tracks at ear splitting levels, you are artificially making it appear as though your bass tracks have range and backbone. Monitor your tracks at a moderate level. If you can create a sound that is full and punchy at these low levels, they are going to sound amazing when you crank it to ear shattering, cop calling ultra mode. Balance your subwoofer If you are using a subwoofer as part of your studio monitoring scheme. Ask yourself if you are using it to extend the true range of your monitoring abilities or to disproportionately jack up the bass you hear so it sounds nice in the studio. Trust me, you want the first choice. Use a variable sine wave generator (available on most DAWs nowadays) and sweep it through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The Effect Of Enzymes On Enzyme And Substrate Introduction: Enzymes defined as biological catalysts that speed the chemical reaction by reducing the activation energy (Biology Department, 2014). Enzymes play an important biological role in the cell, as it is important to keep the cell alive by speed up the reaction, which explains why in absence of enzyme some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate organism intercellular function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it from infection, regulate blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate can be affected by pH, temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology Department, 2014). If pH levels are not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes will change its shape so the enzyme will not be able to combine with the substrates, which will prohibit the converting of the substrate to product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in the solution so if the temperature increase the molecules movement will increase and this will increase the rate of reaction until the point that the energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from binding due to the fact that the active site of the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If enzymes concentration increase the amount of product per unit time will increase too, while the total amount of product will not change (Richard Mark, 2001). It is important ...
