Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged
In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a
symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a
love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in
money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary
evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of
money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn
Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism.
The difference in views between these two men is at the most basic level; that Francisco wants to
make money while Taggart wants to have money. As I said before, to Francisco and to all the good
characters money is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They see money as its own beast. It is a necessary evil that must be controlled. Because they cannot
draw the connections between the money and its source they cannot justify the love of money. They
either acknowledge and embrace that what they do is looting and decide not to care, or like James
Taggart they remain in denial and self deluded that what they are doing is for the public good . This is
a reflection of Ayn Rand s own views on communism; the belief that money must be controlled, and
that if left to its own it will undoubtedly become a negative force, a detriment to society. Because they
cannot understand why money is valuable (though they acknowledge that it is) they seek to have
money as opposed to making money. This is why they attempt to freeze the state of the nation, so that
they may remain in an eternal state of having not realizing that there must be motion and progress for
money to be made and to hold value. They have the effect without realizing the

Rhino Poaching Research Paper
The End of Rhino Poaching 414 Everyday more and more rhinos die from poaching. Did you know
that every 11 hours one rhino dies from poachers? How will we end rhino poaching? Now people are
using drones to stop poachers. There is an increasing demand for rhino horns. Everyday we lose more
and more rhinos for their horns. In 2012, 668 rhinos died for their horns. Then again, in 2013 by half
the year 350 rhinos had already been lost to poachers. Once, a rhino reserve in South Africa lost 13
rhinos in just one week. There is a huge increase for a demand of rhino horns, but why? In Asia,
ground up rhino horn is believed to cure illnesses including cancer. Many criminal gangs offer as

How will drones catch the poachers? The drones are hand launched so there is no need for a big
runway. Also, the drones are only 12 pounds. Drones also have a six mile range camera. The drones
computer calculates a hot spot for poaching and watches it from the sky. Next, if the drone sees a
poacher then it sends an alert to notify the game wardens. When the game wardens see the alert they
rush down to the poaching sight and try to catch the poachers before they attack. The drones film a
video of the scene including the weather, if there was a sun or moon, when it happened and where.
The drones film this to show the trends/patterns of poachers. Drone technology can be very different.
For example, they can have different features. Thomas Smith and team at the University of Maryland
have tested out drones to stop poachers. In the last six months Smith s team had arrested a lot of
poachers with not one single gunshot. Their drones have infrared cameras and the camera sends live
video to the command center on the ground. Air Shepherd is combining with the University of
Maryland to support the drones to stop poachers. Early in 2014, South African Civil Aviation
Authority (SACAA) claimed that flying an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is against the law. Now
Air Shepherd and the University of Maryland is working together they hope to persuade the SACAA it

Internal Communication At Radio 21
Introduction
Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge that
creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal communication
leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive
aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.).
Radio 21
Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small
radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). It is
primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music hits,
entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of Radio
21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a fairly
straightforward, focused and clear manner.
Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other
private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss in
market share (Rezultatul Studiului de Audienta Radio, 2008). Therefore, this is the major reason why
the company s current short term objective is to reach the Top 5 most listened radio stations in ...

assumption that they are better than the others. Employees tend to look for a culprit instead of

effectively and in turn employees have to deal with responsibilities, which come from different

Analysis Of Over The Garden Wall
Over the Garden Wall is a children s cartoon series with a rather dark subject: a visit to the afterlife.
The show focuses on two brothers, Wirt and Greg. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt and Greg
navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet other unusual
characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in many ways. Over the
Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the characters, and the aspects that the
two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that the series is based loosely on Dante s
travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show, Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no
recollection of how they came to be there. This is very similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which
Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive,
akin to how Dante is accosted by the three beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the
show, we come to find out the place where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The
Unknown . The Unknown is separated into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms
have different areas, with various trials to be overcome in each section. In the last episode of the show,
it is apparent that The Unknown is a purgatory like afterlife, and that the brothers journey to find their
home has actually been them searching for a way back the land of the living.

The Vietnam War On The United States
The Vietnam War is a more frequently and familiar name for the Second Indochina War. It was the
longest war America has fought in. The Vietnam War had an impact on the American people, since it
was the first war to ever be broadcasted on television. The country was able to see what was
happening on the battleground. This war would have lasting effects on the United States and the
nation it divided. The Vietnam war started way before America became involved (1955 1975).
Indochina, which included Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, were all under French colonial rule. The
Vietnam communist nationalist, Vietminh, fought for freedom from the French. The United States sent
resources to France to help them defeat the communist risk. In 1961, when John F. Kennedy was
inaugurated, the Vietnam war was not a substantial issue. However, Vice President Johnson was sent
to Vietnam. Upon his return, he urged Kennedy to grab hold of the conflict. Kennedy decided to send
special forces instead of sending combat troops. Kennedy s secret advisors reported to him that Aerial
spraying of herbicides were used to starve the Vietcong of their food and jungle cover. The president
was forced to send more troops. Which increased the numbers from 900 to 15,000. Ngo Dinh Diem,
the leader of Vietnam at the time, was blamed for worsening the situations of the war. Since he was
Catholic and the majority of Vietnam was Buddhist, many South Vietnamese united against the
Vietnam leader. In October 1963, a

Ted Bundy Crimes
As we look over the facts of the crimes that Bundy committed and the interviews that Michaud had
with him, he doesn t believe that women are human, he sees them as objects. During one of the first
interviews that we read featuring Bundy in this book, Bundy isn t confessing to the crimes but he is
speculating on the motives of the real killer. Michaud asks if there would be any conversation between
the murderer and the victim to which Bundy replies with Since this girl in front of him represented not
a person, but again the image, or something desirable (Michaud and Aynesworth 127). This may not
seem as if Bundy is confessing to anything, but with the way he speaks it s almost unreasonable to not
imagine Bundy as the murderer. Ted Bundy was a law student so he could just be using knowledge
from previous court cases he has been reading about; however the way he speaks about it makes it
seem all too real. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even when we look at the evidence on the victims we see that he only assaulted a couple of women.
As we take a look at the Chi Omega assault we learn that it would later be ascertained that of the four
victims, only Lisa Levey had been sexually assaulted (Michaud and Aynesworth 231).When he first
started committing the crimes in early 1974, there was never any sign of sexual assault on the bodies,
until the Chi Omega crimes which took place after he escaped from prison in Florida. Since there was
only one sexual assault out of four victims, that doesn t mean he didn t want to commit the act with
the other victims, he just didn t have the time. We see that his acts are heinous and that he obviously

Suddenly a beautiful spirit appears in front of Asami. It adorned a flowing white dress that had opals

Robin Williams Case Study
Case Study
Robin Williams will go down in history as one of America s favorite stand up comedians and actors.
Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and showcased
Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will Hunting,
showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were devastated
when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how America s
favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole world wondering
who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras weren t rolling.
Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers
that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged
parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to
Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping
mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was
when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the beginning
of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans, 2016)
In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard School
of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a Hollywood
actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before graduating and
moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian.
It was here that he began to be successful, but unfortunately, along with that success came his
involvement with drugs and alcohol. Williams once explained in an interview that he used cocaine
because it had a reverse effect on him and made him talk less. (Lincoln, 2015)
Robin Williams was successful in his endeavors to be discovered on stage. His career began to take off
as he started getting small acting roles in shows like Happy Days, which lead to his own spinoff show
Mork and Mindy. Author Brian Morris says, Despite

Abstract
The shift towards the use of electronic media in scholarly communication appears to be an inescapable
imperative. However, these shifts are uneven, both with respect to field and with respect to the form of
communication. Different scientific fields have developed and use distinctly different communicative
forums, both in the paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see notable risks in a pure laissez faire let them work it out for themselves approach. Large
amounts of money, resources, and effort are being committed (by government agencies, by academic
departments, by publishers, by professional societies, and by individual researchers) to the
development, maintenance, and promotion of various forms of communications technologies for use
in global science. However, in the absence of a valid theory of how scholarly fields adopt and shape
technology, scientists and policy makers are left only with context free models, and hence resources
may be committed to projects that are not self sustainable, that wither, and that do not effectively
improve the scientific communications system of the field. The consequences may not only be sub
optimal use of financial resources, but also wasted effort on the part of individual researchers, and
even data languishing in marginal, decaying, and dead systems and formats. The purpose of this
JASIS perspectives article is to deepen our understanding of the future of electronic communications
in science. It is difficult to predict the longterm future, as too many contingencies can and will shape
long term outcomes to make meaningful predictions. One may casually predict that that many if not
all research journals will issue electronic editions in the 21st century; however, more complex issues

Concertgoers complain about the convenience charges as well as parking and facility fees that
Ticketmaster tacks on, which can account for more than thirty per cent of the cost of a ticket.
Promoters worry that, as the top grossing touring acts the Rolling Stones, the Eagles, Paul McCartney,
Bruce Springsteen, U2, Madonna get older, very few younger acts are popular enough to fill stadiums
and arenas on the two year long tours that superstar rock bands undertake. (Forty per cent of the seats
at all Live Nation concerts go unsold.) Most galling to the four stakeholders involved in putting on a

in revenue to the secondary market : the Internet driven business of ticket reselling, in which ticket
brokers and scalpers profit, while the people who take the artistic and financial risks hardly participate

The Ethics Of Abortion And Abortion
The Ethics of Abortion
Abortion, which according to the Merriam Webster dictionary (n.d.) refers to any action that is taken
to prematurely end the life of a growing fetus in its mother s womb before it is born, is a very
controversial topic in our society today. Every day, several women die as a result of lack of access to
proper abortion facilities (Kaczor, 2013). It has been estimated that 2% of women within childbearing
age i.e. ages 15 to 44 will have an abortion (Medoff, 2013) and the yearly number of abortions
worldwide is estimated to be around 46 million ( Kaczor,2015). This statistic is further increased due
to the society s perception of the morality and ethicality of abortion. Pro life supporters argue that life
begins at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this law, the regulation of abortion is still left to provincial government and this has led to
various interpretations of R v Morgentaler (Johnstone Macfarlane, 2015). These various provincial
regulations have contributed to the inaccessibility of abortion to several women across the country
(Sethna, 2012; Vogel, 2015).
Arguments from both sides
Pro life
The pro life movement believes in the sanctity of human life which they say begins right from the
conception of the child (Zuradzki, 2014; Seipel 2014). According to Pro life supporters, an embryo
has the right to a full moral status and right to life as any other human being (Zuradzki, 2014; Seipel
2014). Religion plays a big role in emphasizing and propagating the anti abortion movement and also
influences the views of several Canadians on abortion (Saurette Gordon, 2013). Religious views,
especially those taken from the Christian perspective, believes in the sanctity of life and views
abortion as murder which is a sin (Zuradzki, 2014).
Pro choice
Supporters of abortion rights argue that a woman s decision to abort a fetus is in alignment with the
right to freedom and choice (Seipel, 2014). They argue that the concept of whether or not a fetus can
be regarded as a person should not infringe on the right of the mother to make choices without the
interference of the state (Seipel, 2014). They also argue that the concept of personhood is subject to a
person s personal and moral judgment and that one

Motivations In Antigone By Sophocles
Ever wondered how far your motivations could take you? Antigone, a famous play written by
Sophocles, introduces the audience to various characters who push the limits with their motivations,
despite the consequences. We, the audience, are shown two major characters, a determined woman,
Antigone, who goes to extremes for her family, and Creon, a stubborn king who believes in protecting
his city Thebes. Creon creates a rule that both Antigone s brothers, Polyneices and Eteocles must both
alternately fulfill the title of king of Thebes, and ends in Polyneices death because of a battle that
arose between the brothers which resulted in a demand for Polyneices to remain unburied by Creon,
which influenced Antigone s determination to give Polyneices a proper burial, resulting in the death of
Antigone and Creon s family members. I believe Creon is the tragic hero because although he was
doing what he thought was right to defend the people of Thebes and fulfill his duty as a ruler, he
resulted in losing his loved ones and ending up alone. Creon becomes the king of Thebes, and because
of this, he wants to protect his people. Despite his desire to remain loyal to his citizens, Creon doesn t
take advice or input from anyone. Creon puts himself above everyone, including the gods, taking
advantage of his title. Creon states, We must obey those whom the city has ordained to be its leaders.
We should obey them, unquestioningly, in all things, minor or great, those we agree with

Career Outlook And Personal Considerations
In order to provide quality care, nurses must first be educated about the aspects of quality nursing.
Nurse educators are responsible for teaching future nurses of their scope of practice and how to serve
the public through proper medical interventions. Although all nurses serve as educators to their
patients, nursing educators in academics have a unique role in teaching the future of the nursing field.
This is accomplished by staying informed on current nursing advancements and evidence based
practices. Because nurses constantly educate their patients, becoming a nursing educator seems like a
natural transition from clinical nurse to instructor. This paper will examine the historical role,
qualifications, education and certifications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This teaching model focuses on students learning to take care of themselves so they can better care for
patients (Masters, 2014). More recently, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN)
determined that preparing nurses for education as well as clinical and research (Scheckel, 2009). The
primary changes throughout modern history involve providing both clinical and theory education in
nursing programs (Hunt, 2012).
Qualifications and Experience
The major requirements for nurse educators are experience in the nursing field and higher education
degrees (Hebenstreit, 2012). The benefit of clinical experience of nursing instructors should not be
underscored (Hebenstreit, 2012). When nurse educators have worked in the field for a period of time,
they can better instruct students through personal experience (Fitzpatrick, 2014). Congruent with this
belief, requirements of nursing instructors include the registered nurse (RN) license and work under
that license for at least two years (Fitzpatrick, 2014). Registered nurses serve in various capacities, but
all specialties rely on a proper education (Fitzpatrick, 2014). Nurse educators are responsible for
producing competent, but hopefully excellent nurses.
Education
Because patients require care for all types of ailments, nurses must be provided proper and quality
education. Master degree in nursing is usually the minimum requirement (Hunt, 2012). Generally the

How Did St. Thomas Aquinas Influence
The Philosophical Influence of St. Thomas Aquinas Summa Theologica St. Thomas Aquinas was an
Italian Dominican friar, a Catholic priest, and one of the most influential philosophers of the last
thousand years. He wrote one of the most famous pieces on philosophy and a piece that argued for
God s existence which is summed up in the Summa Theologica. In this work, Aquinas explains the
extent of God s power and the ideas that make up many of the core Catholic beliefs. St. Thomas
Aquinas views on the origin and the purpose of the universe in his work, the Summa Theologica, help

This section is broad, so I will only cover the main details supporting God s existence. The question
posed here is about why there is a need for God, if all knowledge, except philosophy, requires only
human knowledge, therefore rendering any other science useless. The belief presented by Aquinas is
about what happens when knowledge is given to humans that is beyond their understanding. He
argues that this is when faith must prevail and so a higher being must exist. Sacred doctrine is more
important than other sciences. Many people are certain this is not possible as other sciences are certain
and have often been proven true through laws and reason. Still, just because sacred doctrine might not
be certain in its answers, it does show the weakness of human intelligence. Higher things require great
knowledge and belief in science, making sacred doctrine, even more important than the hard sciences
that everyone knows (1. Aquinas, 2.

Of Mice And Men Companionship Essay
Trekking through California in the 1930, George and Lennie desire a stable work place and
companionship. These characters from John Steinbeck s American novel Of Mice and Men, make up
one of the few friendships in the theme of loneliness. The two go through life accompanying each
other and experiencing the harsh realities of life. Eventually they end up on a farm with a dynamic
group of farm hands they are not used to. With George and Lennie, and Candy and his dog the reader

Women by Olufemi Kalesanwo and Emmanuel Adenuga. This research article studies exactly the
description of the title, the health consequences of family violence among married women. The
specific population that was used for this study was married women in Ogun State. Ogun State is
located in south western Nigeria with a population of 3,728, 098 (Kalesanwo Adenuga). A descriptive
research design was used in order to collect the data. The exact instrument for this study was a self
structured questionnaire. In order to confirm the validity of the instrument, experts in Test and
Measurement in the Faculty of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye were consulted
and they offered suggestions based on their rational logical analysis of the content of the instrument
(Kalesanwo Adenuga). The authors who conducted the research proposed five different research
hypotheses. These five include: family violence will not significantly have health consequences on
married women in Ogun state, physical deformity will not significantly be a health consequence of
family violence among Ogun State married women, premature delivery will not significantly be a
health consequence of family violence on married women in Ogun State, permanent injuries would
not significantly be health consequences of family violence among Ogun State married women, and
family type will not significantly influence

Social Issues In Northanger Abbey, By Jane Austen
Northanger Abbey is a classic written by Jane Austen. The novel is celebrated as a literary masterpiece
that deals with the English social class system, along with the social rules and it shows the results of
choices made by the characters. The story follows Catherine Morland, a girl who is heavily influenced
by books, but is also very naïve to the outside world. Catherine lives in the modest town of Fullerton,
and her life there has been mostly very protected and sheltered from lifestyles and habits of people
outside of Fullerton. The Morlands are friends with another family named the Allen s. They are
wealthy members of society, and they extend an invitation to take Catherine with them to Bath, which
is a wealthy area for families that meet that clientele. Because her life in Fullerton has been so
sheltered and moderate, her experience in Bath is a whole new world and it excites and scares her
alike. While in Bath, Catherine is introduced to a young man by the name of Henry Tilney, a ... Show

The varying hierarchies between Catherine and Isabella and between Catherine and Henry are
interesting for one to read through. The effects the social classes had on Isabella were arguably greater
than any other major character in the story. She was attracted to the drama, gossip, and vigor of that
lifestyle. Isabella thrived on knowing the important information about people in the society, and she
was well learned on other people s personal lives. The idea of having a rich and popular and important
husband caught her attention more than marrying for love did. She was engaged to James for love, but
once a better offer came along in the form of Captain Frederick Tilney, she had a change of heart.
Suddenly, she was content with leaving behind her fiancé of humble beginnings and earning for
someone for susceptible to adventure, danger, and or course,

Richard The Lionheart
In the middle ages, knights were considered special to the society. Knights were also held higher than
other categories of fighters, such as archers and foot soldiers. Knights were generally richer because of
their service for the King. Being a knight was not easy work, and not many could actually do it. Each
knight was equipped with a suit of armor. The armor was very expensive because it was believed to
make them stronger than archers and foot soldiers. Knights performed very well in the medieval
feudalism economy. Because the knights defended the king, they could be granted a piece of land. The
knight could also then have peasants that worked on their land in exchange for protection from the
knights. The peasants would do all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His life, though, was exaggerated by many myths and legends, such as the round table. There is no
actual evidence of the knights of the round table. There is also no evidence of the sword, that was
thought to be pulled out of a rock. Another well known king is Richard the Lionheart. Richard the
Lionheart succeeded his father Henry II as King of England in 1189. During the Third Crusade he
confirmed his reputation of a great leader. After returning to England, he was captured and handed
over to the Holy Roman Emperor. Richard was soon released after a ransom was paid. Richard the
Lionheart died in 1199 after he was hit by an arrow. Next, El Cid was a Castilian knight. His real
name was Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar. El was considered a Spanish national hero. El Cid s greatest
achievement was when he captured the kingdom city of Valencia in 1094. He was a less independent
ruler. He later died from natural causes. Alexander Nevsky, is the most celebrated medieval Russian
military leader. He got the name Nevsky after he defeated the Swedes on the Neva River in 1240.
Later, he also defeated the Livonian Brothers of the Sword and destroyed almost all of their forces in
the Battle of the Ice. Because of his outstanding political skills, he managed to gain considerable
concessions from the Mongols. He died in 1263, and then he became to be known as the national hero.
Last, Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales. Prince of Wales came to be called the Black Prince after
the Battle of Crecy. The Battle of Crecy was one of the most notable battles of the Hundred Years War.
He fought in France along with his father Edward II of England. The Black Prince played a huge role
in another big victory for the English, the Battle of Poitiers that took place in 1356. He died in 1376,

Lisfranc Injury Research Paper
Lisfranc injury is the term used to describe a dislocation on the foot wherein the metatarsal bone/s is
displace from the tarsus. Lisfranc injury is named after the French surgeon and gynecologist, Jacques
Lisfranc de St. Martin who described the nature of the injury. Causes of Lisfranc injury can either be
direct or indirect. Direct injuries result to crushing of the foot such as someone landing on his foot
from a fall, heavy objects falling to a foot and foot being ran over by a car. Indirect injuries usually
involved twisting of the foot such as the rotational force on a downward pointing forefoot. Several
sports and activities are also prone to Lisfranc injuries such as: Football Wakeboarding Wind surfing

This is also indicative of a cuboidal fracture. Signs and Symptoms of a Lisfranc injury are: Worsening
pain when you either stand or walk. The area above the foot is swollen and painful. Bruising on both
top and bottom areas of the foot. Visible bruising at the bottom highly denotes that a Lisfranc injury is
present. Diagnosis of the injury are: X ray. Abnormalities and deformity of the midfoot should be
obvious during x rays. There will be a space between the base of the first and second toes. Magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI). It is not usually a requirement to undergo an MRI to diagnose a Lisfranc
injury though it helps show a better image of the soft tissues on your foot just like the tendons.
Computerized tomography scan (CT scan). Just like MRI, CT scan may also not be required by your
doctor to diagnose a Lisfranc injury though it provides a more detailed view of your foot compared to
x rays. CT scans are usually suggested when surgical operations are needed to help plan the surgery as
it shows the extent of the injury as well as the number of joints it has affected.

Effectiveness of Sobriety Checkpoints
Special Problems in Criminal Justice
Dr. Stone
December 1, 2010
Abstract A good theoretical basis exists for believing that properly conducted sobriety checkpoints and
campaigns, may reduce drunk driving, and data from multiple checkpoint programs support this
belief. The courts have upheld the constitutionality of checkpoints, opposing those who believe them
to violate the fourth amendment. Each year, more deaths result for alcohol related automobile
accidents than any other cause. Sobriety checkpoints, along with media coverage and cooperation
from multiple groups, are a necessity to reduce the amount of drunk driving in America.
Introduction For many years, the law enforcement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sobriety checkpoint programs are defined as procedures in which law enforcement officers restrict
traffic flow in a designated, specific location so they can check drivers for signs of alcohol
impairment. If officers detect any type of incapacitation based upon their observations, they can
perform additional testing, such as field sobriety or breath analysis tests (Greene, 2003). To this end,
agencies using checkpoints must have a written policy as a directive for their officers to follow.
Agencies normally choose locations for checkpoints from areas that statistically reveal crashes or
offenses (Green, 2003). Officers stop vehicles based on traffic flow, staffing, and overall safety. They
must stop vehicles in an arbitrary sequence, whether they stop all vehicles or a specified portion of
them. Checkpoints offer a visible enforcement method intended to deter potential offenders, as well as
to apprehend impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints must display warning signs to approaching
motorists.
Used to deter drinking and driving, sobriety checkpoints are related more directly to educating the
public and encouraging designated drivers, rather than actually apprehending impaired drivers. They
offer authorities an educational tool. Education and awareness serve as a

Pakistan Is A Complex Country
Pakistan is a complex country, both because of harsh physical terrain and because of a historical
unpredictable government. Pakistan is constantly in the news, and a topic of discussion in The United
States. Many of the fighters the American forces are fighting in Afghanistan come from Pakistan, or at
least find a safe haven in the mountains of western Pakistan. In addition, Pakistan is a nuclear armed
country that has a shaky government at best. I find it fascinating that a country that has a government
with such a sporadic history filled with attempts to overthrow it and coups maintain a nuclear arsenal.
How was this possible? I know that the United States and its allies put much effort into keeping
countries such as Iran and North Korea from attaining nuclear weapons. What was going on during the
development of Pakistan s nuclear program? While Pakistan is an ally of the United States, in the
region that Pakistan is located that could change quickly. In addition, I feel that you must prove that
you are a stable country and society before you are permitted to possess such powerful weapons.
Pakistan provides a very interesting topic of discussion that some people may not be aware. The two
reasons listed above are the main reason I chose to write about Pakistan, knowing little else about the
country, but through my research, I found that there is more to Pakistan than just those two areas,
beginning with how the country initially formed. Pakistan formed on

American Christianity By Nathan Hatch Summary
Nathan Hatch wrote this book to help understand American Christianity and the courses of action that
have brought us to the present. The books states that Hatch is a professor at the University of Notre
Dame where he teaches history and also works with graduate studies. However, a recent inquiry finds
that he is president of Wake Forest University, a position he has held since 2005. A well renowned
scholar, Hatch has been very influential in studying religion and history.
The book begins with a clear understanding of the direction the author is heading. Within the first few
sentences the thesis is clearly stated. Democratization is central to understanding the development of

Because of this common, ordinary people were free to think for themselves when it came to religion.
Christianity was made into a popular theology combining pop culture, renewed supernaturalism, and
biblical literalism. This made numerous religious opportunities in America.
Because of the free thinking that was taking place during this time, Hatch claims that there was a sort
of inversion of authority. Before, the intellectuals were the main source of knowledge. Now,
commoners were a source of Biblical knowledge. Commoners disagreed with the clergy accepting a
salary. Because Jesus lived in poverty, so should they. And the methods of Scripture interpretation
threatened the orthodox views that Beecher held to.
American Methodist ministers helped organize a version of camp meetings that originated in England.
They were controversial because many involved unlicensed ministers who allowed testimonies by
anyone. Even though they were being led by the Methodists, the British Methodist leaders
disapproved of these functions due to the orthodox teaching the British held to. But these meetings
were highly popular in America and carried charismatic values that recruited new followers who were
hostile to the orthodox belief and

The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation
Suicidal Ideation
Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel
be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to
prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of
their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest
of signs of suicide.
Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety
disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so
overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful
situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering.
People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest
thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing
suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once
loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a
symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal
people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment,
so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders.
The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces
of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental
illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide
are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic
influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia,
and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal
thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself
and others

Physical Effects Of Child Abuse And Neglect
Effects of Child Abuse
Child abuse affects a person beyond their youth mentally, socially, and physically. Childhood
experiences can affect and determine adult personalities. This abuse, though it can be repressed, may
never be completely devoid from a victim s memory. These effects can be long lasting and damaging
to a victim s overall health.
Child abuse has long lasting effects on a person s mentality and emotional state. During early infancy
and childhood years, a child s brain develops at an incredible pace that it will never again experience.
Studies about early childhood development indicate that the brain develops in response to experiences
with caregivers, family and the community, and that its development is directly linked to the quality
and quantity of those experiences ( Effects of Child Abuse and Neglect ). If young ... Show more

more susceptible to injury than adults are. Common physical effects that have been observed in
children who have been physically or sexually abused include: welting, bruises, abrasions, difficulty

The Impact Of Great Britain On The Industrial Revolution
By Definition, a rapid major change in an economy (as in England in the late 18th century) marked by
the general introduction of power driven machinery, or by an important change in the prevailing types
and methods of use of such machines. Merriam Webster This definition over simplifies the industrial
revolution. In reality the Industrial Revolution was much more complex and encompasses many
different aspects. With that said the events that led to the Industrial Revolution were even more
complicated. How and why Great Britain was the first to lead the Revolution was multifaceted and
involves many aspects of economic and social developments. The predisposition of easily acquired
recourse and healthy state politics allowed Great Britain to prosper. A core piece of the Industrial
revolution was the advent of new technology. This technology would increase the production and
efficiency of all factories. As more and more people flooded the cities and towns the demand for more
goods skyrocketed pushing civilization into a new age. The Industrial Revolution was a cycle that feed
itself, with need came technology and with technology came need and through this process arose new
society. What led Great Britain to become the first country to star in the Industrial Revolution, comes
down to a complex system of factors. Each aspect holds a major role in the contribution in the growth
of the Industrial Revolution and of Great Britain.

A seemingly innocent family vacation can turn into a disaster if the members of the family only care

Grandmother, too consumed with her own opinions, fails to address the views, feelings and overall
well being of others. Her family is not much different in their self interested ways. This leads them

According to Freud, the unconscious [mind] continues to influence our behavior and experience, even
though we are unaware of these underlying influences (Cherry). So, because of this, he sacrifices
humanity to deal with the pain and thinks nothing of it. Another reason for killing his father could be
he was suffering from the Oedipal Complex. The Misfit says, God never made a finer woman than my
mother (O Connor). The Oedipal Complex would refer that the Misfit has, fallen in love with one
parent and developed hatred for the other (Gill). His desire for his mother drove him to eliminate his
father. Unlike the Grandmother, religion was not a factor for the Misfit. He thought God, shown
everything off balance (O Connor). He believed rationally only what he could sense. O Connor made
this one of the Misfit s greatest faults. To Summarize, the Misfit s experiences and religious disbelief
kept him from being a recognizably good person in O Connor s eyes. Though the family did not turn
to violence like the Misfit, they still had their own set of issues. The other members of the family seem
to be embodiments of society s most self interested and materialistic. O Connor illustrates that with

Canterbury Tales Analysis
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, various people band together to go on a pilgrimage from
England to Canterbury. Their aim is to see a shrine of St Thomas Beckett, the revered Archbishop of
Canterbury who had reportedly healed others when they were ill. The pilgrims have a variety of
occupations and are divided fairly evenly amongst the three estates (clergy, nobility, and commoners).
The pilgrims who are members of the clergy are ironically depicted as the least moral, compared to the
nobility and the commoners, creating a negative view of those who are leaders in the Church. The
members of the clergy also spend their time wandering, metaphorically demonstrating their
purposelessness, while the pilgrimage itself is a direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he works hard, both for God and for his community, and he lives happily. The Plowman is
also one of the most pious pilgrims. According to Chaucer, God loved he best with al his hoole herte
(GP 533). He also gives money to the church, demonstrating both his religiousness and his
charitability, which is especially notable given his own poverty. In addition to the Plowman s
religiousness, he lives a simple life, evidenced by his wearing of a tabard (a simple sleeveless shirt
worn by the lower class) and the fact that he rides on a mare. Similarly to the Knight and the Squire,
the Plowman is the ideal member of his estate, the peasantry.
The Friar, Prioress, Monk, and Pardonner are the members of the clergy (the first estate) on the
pilgrimage. The most corrupt of these is the Friar. He has the power to give confession, and he gives it
easily, because those who have repented are more likely to give him donations. The Friar wanders
around and becomes wealthy because of these donations. Chaucer also says that the Friar knows all of
the barmaids in town, implying that he likely goes out drinking frequently, a habit that is not Christian
like. The Prioress also doesn t exemplify an ideal religious leader. While at first, the Prioress might
appear kindhearted and moral, Chaucer adds in little descriptions to give the reader an odd impression
of her. She s so concerned with attempting to be upper class, demonstrated by her knowledge

The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America
College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be
successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues.
College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to pay
their tuitions and spend extra time in college for total of six through seven years instead of four years
to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay over
$30,000 of debt after attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially young adults

This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. The people

A Rational Review Of The Information Available From Social...
A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy starts
with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually the result
of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy partners to
propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the desire for a partner
of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal societies have typically
been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture these justifications are rarely
relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world today (excepting the Chinese where
population control has skewed the balance), the population is evenly balanced between men and
women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to mate with a healthier specimen, in
Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or less equally. The third factor, the desire
for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant but the advantages of a polygamous
relationship to a wealthy or powerful partner do not necessarily outweigh a more satisfying
relationship to a less powerful partner in a monogamous relationship. It s a matter of choice.
How does rule of law view polygamy and how have they justified its elimination through the legal
process?
In the case of Loving v Virginia,(Loving) Chief Justice Warren of the Supreme

The Phenomena Behind Equity Risk Premium Discussion For 35...
Literature Review
The phenomena behind equity risk premium discussion for 35 years, was first took place in Robert J.
Schiller s work done on volatility of equity prices. The research conduct by Schiller (1982),
highlighted the difficulty of explaining the historical volatility of stock prices. The results of Shiller s
paper stunned the profession at first as most of economists felt discount rates were close to constant
over time. The intuition behind the unpredictability of volatility, later named volatility puzzle by
scholars who have studied this paradox as well. Just after 3 years from Schiller work on historical
volatility, Mehra and Prescott (1985) introduced the equity premium puzzle. It is mainly based on the
lack of evidence for a high risk premium in terms of consumption growth. In other words, investors
require and have high returns which have low covariance with consumption growth. Using Schiller s
data collected on the volatility puzzle, they have found out that between 1889 and 1978, the
consumption growth rate, the indicator for opportunity cost of investors is insufficient to explain 6%
risk premium. Moreover, it was so high that the findings suggested only a risk premium of 0.35% on
top of the risk free rate. Behavioural finance approached this puzzle based on preference of investors.
The decision making process of investors on investing on equities and why do they require high risk
premium and fear equities this much. One of the leading papers on the

individuals and families, causing them to fend for themselves by conforming. Once there is a change

boy in an orphanage in Korczak questions his entire identity when he falls for a German girl who can

  • 2. Money In Ayn Rand s Atlas Shrugged In Ayn Rand s novel Atlas Shrugged the character Francisco d Anconia views money as a tool and a symbol; something that can only come about by the hard work and ambition of men. He feels that a love of money is justified, and is liberal in his employment it because he sees no arbitrary value in money itself. This contrasts sharply with the view of James Taggart who sees money as a necessary evil; something that must be controlled, and forced to work with the people. James Taggart is afraid of money and what it has the power to do, so he attempts to limit it. You can see how this reflects Ayn Rand s own views on the difference between communism and capitalism. The difference in views between these two men is at the most basic level; that Francisco wants to make money while Taggart wants to have money. This is a reflection of Ayn Rand s own views on communism; the belief that money must be controlled, and that if left to its own it will undoubtedly become a negative force, a detriment to society. Because they cannot understand why money is valuable (though they acknowledge that it is) they seek to have money as opposed to making money. Next, if the drone sees a poacher then it sends an alert to notify the game wardens. • 4. Internal Communication At Radio 21 Introduction Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge that creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal communication leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.). Radio 21 Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). It is primarily based on the practice of airing radio advertisements, while it broadcasts music hits, entertaining content and news bulletins (Psychogiopoulou, 2012). Furthermore, the slogan of Radio 21, Station of fun , is easy to remember and communicates the uniqueness of its company in a fairly straightforward, focused and clear manner. Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss in market share (Rezultatul Studiului de Audienta Radio, 2008). • 5. Analysis Of Over The Garden Wall Over the Garden Wall is a children s cartoon series with a rather dark subject: a visit to the afterlife. The show focuses on two brothers, Wirt and Greg. Unaware of their true plight, Wirt and Greg navigate their way through unfamiliar territory in search of a way home, and meet other unusual characters along the way. The show resembles Dante s own trip to the afterlife in many ways. Over the Garden Wall alludes to Dante s Commedia through its settings, the characters, and the aspects that the two versions of the afterlife share, all of which implies that the series is based loosely on Dante s travels in his Commedia. In the opening scene of the show, Wirt and Greg are lost in a forest with no recollection of how they came to be there. This is very similar to the first canto of Inferno, in which Dante is also lost in a dark wood . The brothers are pursued by a monstrous dog when they first arrive, akin to how Dante is accosted by the three beasts in Limbo shortly after appearing there. Later in the show, we come to find out the place where Wirt and Greg have ended up is referred to as The Unknown . The Unknown is separated into different regions, much like how the Commedia s realms have different areas, with various trials to be overcome in each section. In the last episode of the show, it is apparent that The Unknown is a purgatory like afterlife, and that the brothers journey to find their home has actually been them searching for a way back the land of the living. ... • 6. The Vietnam War On The United States The Vietnam War is a more frequently and familiar name for the Second Indochina War. It was the longest war America has fought in. The Vietnam War had an impact on the American people, since it was the first war to ever be broadcasted on television. The country was able to see what was happening on the battleground. This war would have lasting effects on the United States and the nation it divided. The Vietnam war started way before America became involved (1955 1975). Indochina, which included Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, were all under French colonial rule. The Vietnam communist nationalist, Vietminh, fought for freedom from the French. The United States sent resources to France to help them defeat the communist risk. In 1961, when John F. Kennedy was inaugurated, the Vietnam war was not a substantial issue. However, Vice President Johnson was sent to Vietnam. Upon his return, he urged Kennedy to grab hold of the conflict. Kennedy decided to send special forces instead of sending combat troops. Kennedy s secret advisors reported to him that Aerial spraying of herbicides were used to starve the Vietcong of their food and jungle cover. The president was forced to send more troops. Which increased the numbers from 900 to 15,000. Ngo Dinh Diem, the leader of Vietnam at the time, was blamed for worsening the situations of the war. Movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, and Patch Adams filled homes with laughter and showcased Williams comedy talent. Other classics such as, Dead Poet Society and Good Will Hunting, showcased a different side of Williams and his dynamic talent. In 2014, Ameri cans were devastated when the news broke that Robin Williams had committed suicide. Many questioned how America s favorite smiling, funny guy could have committed such a dark act. It left the whole world wondering who Robin Williams really was, and what he was dealing with when the cameras weren t rolling. Robin Williams grew up in an upper middle class family with both parents having successful careers that often required time spent away from home and away from Williams. Despite having estranged parents and moving several times during childhood, Williams remained a successful student. Due to Williams outstanding academic achievements, he fell victim to constant bullying. As a coping mechanism, Williams used comedy as a way to deflect the bullying or show real emotion. This was when Williams discovered that he had talent and later joined the drama club. This was the beginning of a new dream for Williams, and the path which ultimately led to his success. (Evans, 2016) In the years after his high school graduation, Williams landed himself a scholarship to Juilliard School of Arts to study theater. It was another step in the journey of his dream to becoming a Hollywood actor. Although he had great success while at Juilliard, he ended up leaving before graduating and moving to San Francisco to perform as a stand up comedian. It was here that he began to be successful, but unfortunately, along with that success came his involvement with drugs and alcohol. Williams once explained in an interview that he used cocaine because it had a reverse effect on him and made him talk less. (Lincoln, 2015) Robin Williams was successful in his endeavors to be discovered on stage. His career began to take off as he started getting small acting roles in shows like Happy Days, which lead to his own spinoff show Mork and Mindy. Author Brian Morris says, Despite ... Large amounts of money, resources, and effort are being committed (by government agencies, by academic departments, by publishers, by professional societies, and by individual researchers) to the development, maintenance, and promotion of various forms of communications technologies for use in global science. However, in the absence of a valid theory of how scholarly fields adopt and shape technology, scientists and policy makers are left only with context free models, and hence resources may be committed to projects that are not self sustainable, that wither, and that do not effectively improve the scientific communications system of the field. The consequences may not only be sub optimal use of financial resources, but also wasted effort on the part of individual researchers, and even data languishing in marginal, decaying, and dead systems and formats. The purpose of this JASIS perspectives article is to deepen our understanding of the future of electronic communications in science. The Ethics Of Abortion And Abortion The Ethics of Abortion Abortion, which according to the Merriam Webster dictionary (n.d.) refers to any action that is taken to prematurely end the life of a growing fetus in its mother s womb before it is born, is a very controversial topic in our society today. Every day, several women die as a result of lack of access to proper abortion facilities (Kaczor, 2013). It has been estimated that 2% of women within childbearing age i.e. ages 15 to 44 will have an abortion (Medoff, 2013) and the yearly number of abortions worldwide is estimated to be around 46 million ( Kaczor,2015). Arguments from both sides Pro life The pro life movement believes in the sanctity of human life which they say begins right from the conception of the child (Zuradzki, 2014; Seipel 2014). According to Pro life supporters, an embryo has the right to a full moral status and right to life as any other human being (Zuradzki, 2014; Seipel 2014). Pro choice Supporters of abortion rights argue that a woman s decision to abort a fetus is in alignment with the right to freedom and choice (Seipel, 2014). They argue that the concept of whether or not a fetus can be regarded as a person should not infringe on the right of the mother to make choices without the interference of the state (Seipel, 2014). Antigone, a famous play written by Sophocles, introduces the audience to various characters who push the limits with their motivations, despite the consequences. We, the audience, are shown two major characters, a determined woman, Antigone, who goes to extremes for her family, and Creon, a stubborn king who believes in protecting his city Thebes. Creon creates a rule that both Antigone s brothers, Polyneices and Eteocles must both alternately fulfill the title of king of Thebes, and ends in Polyneices death because of a battle that arose between the brothers which resulted in a demand for Polyneices to remain unburied by Creon, which influenced Antigone s determination to give Polyneices a proper burial, resulting in the death of Antigone and Creon s family members. I believe Creon is the tragic hero because although he was doing what he thought was right to defend the people of Thebes and fulfill his duty as a ruler, he resulted in losing his loved ones and ending up alone. Creon becomes the king of Thebes, and because of this, he wants to protect his people. Despite his desire to remain loyal to his citizens, Creon doesn t take advice or input from anyone. Creon puts himself above everyone, including the gods, taking advantage of his title. Creon states, We must obey those whom the city has ordained to be its leaders. The primary changes throughout modern history involve providing both clinical and theory education in nursing programs (Hunt, 2012). Qualifications and Experience The major requirements for nurse educators are experience in the nursing field and higher education degrees (Hebenstreit, 2012). The benefit of clinical experience of nursing instructors should not be underscored (Hebenstreit, 2012). The novel is celebrated as a literary masterpiece that deals with the English social class system, along with the social rules and it shows the results of choices made by the characters. The Morlands are friends with another family named the Allen s. They are wealthy members of society, and they extend an invitation to take Catherine with them to Bath, which is a wealthy area for families that meet that clientele. The armor was very expensive because it was believed to make them stronger than archers and foot soldiers. Knights performed very well in the medieval feudalism economy. Effectiveness of Sobriety Checkpoints Briana Purifoy Effectiveness of Sobriety Checkpoints Special Problems in Criminal Justice Dr. Stone December 1, 2010 Abstract A good theoretical basis exists for believing that properly conducted sobriety checkpoints and campaigns, may reduce drunk driving, and data from multiple checkpoint programs support this belief. The courts have upheld the constitutionality of checkpoints, opposing those who believe them to violate the fourth amendment. Sobriety checkpoints, along with media coverage and cooperation from multiple groups, are a necessity to reduce the amount of drunk driving in America. Sobriety checkpoint programs are defined as procedures in which law enforcement officers restrict traffic flow in a designated, specific location so they can check drivers for signs of alcohol impairment. If officers detect any type of incapacitation based upon their observations, they can perform additional testing, such as field sobriety or breath analysis tests (Greene, 2003). To this end, agencies using checkpoints must have a written policy as a directive for their officers to follow. Agencies normally choose locations for checkpoints from areas that statistically reveal crashes or offenses (Green, 2003). Officers stop vehicles based on traffic flow, staffing, and overall safety. They must stop vehicles in an arbitrary sequence, whether they stop all vehicles or a specified portion of them. Checkpoints offer a visible enforcement method intended to deter potential offenders, as well as to apprehend impaired drivers. Sobriety checkpoints must display warning signs to approaching motorists. Used to deter drinking and driving, sobriety checkpoints are related more directly to educating the public and encouraging designated drivers, rather than actually apprehending impaired drivers. In addition, Pakistan is a nuclear armed country that has a shaky government at best. I find it fascinating that a country that has a government with such a sporadic history filled with attempts to overthrow it and coups maintain a nuclear arsenal. How was this possible? I know that the United States and its allies put much effort into keeping countries such as Iran and North Korea from attaining nuclear weapons. What was going on during the development of Pakistan s nuclear program? While Pakistan is an ally of the United States, in the region that Pakistan is located that could change quickly. In addition, I feel that you must prove that you are a stable country and society before you are permitted to possess such powerful weapons. The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest of signs of suicide. Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering. People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment, so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders. The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia, and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. In addition to the Plowman s religiousness, he lives a simple life, evidenced by his wearing of a tabard (a simple sleeveless shirt worn by the lower class) and the fact that he rides on a mare. • 36. A Rational Review Of The Information Available From Social... A rational review of the information available from social research on the subject of polygamy starts with the study of polygamous relationships found in nature. In nature, polygamy is usually the result of three factors: 1) the scarcity of the male species (polygyny); 2) the need for healthy partners to propagate the species in societies where disease or lack of food is a concern; 3) the desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status. (Golden) In humans, hunter gatherer and tribal societies have typically been polygamous for all three of these reasons but in our western culture these justifications are rarely relevant. Regarding the first point, in most cultures in our world today (excepting the Chinese where population control has skewed the balance), the population is evenly balanced between men and women, especially in Western cultures. Regarding the need to mate with a healthier specimen, in Western culture, sickness and disease strike the sexes more or less equally. The third factor, the desire for a partner of higher wealth and/or status, is still relevant but the advantages of a polygamous relationship to a wealthy or powerful partner do not necessarily outweigh a more satisfying relationship to a less powerful partner in a monogamous relationship. Schiller s work done on volatility of equity prices. The research conduct by Schiller (1982), highlighted the difficulty of explaining the historical volatility of stock prices. The results of Shiller s paper stunned the profession at first as most of economists felt discount rates were close to constant over time. The intuition behind the unpredictability of volatility, later named volatility puzzle by scholars who have studied this paradox as well. Just after 3 years from Schiller work on historical volatility, Mehra and Prescott (1985) introduced the equity premium puzzle. It is mainly based on the lack of evidence for a high risk premium in terms of consumption growth. In other words, investors require and have high returns which have low covariance with consumption growth. Using Schiller s data collected on the volatility puzzle, they have found out that between 1889 and 1978, the consumption growth rate, the indicator for opportunity cost of investors is insufficient to explain 6% risk premium. Moreover, it was so high that the findings suggested only a risk premium of 0.35% on top of the risk free rate. Behavioural finance approached this puzzle based on preference of investors.
