Frieze of Dancers is a unique that piece that ties together many of the elements of art and principles of
design. Some elements, such as time and motion, stand out more than others, but that does not change
how diverse this composition is. This painting is 27 7/8 inches tall and 78 7/8 inches wide meaning
that an average sized person would be taller than the painting, but would be smaller than the dancers
when measured from left to right. However, the dancers themselves are relatively the same size when
compared to each other. Each girl takes up a specific amount of space making them seem larger, and

An Evening of Jazz
On November 17th, 2016, I attended a jazz concert and had quite a time. The experience was
captivating, and gave me a warm feeling inside. There were three different bands that play in the hour
slot, and all of them sounded magnificent, but The Santé Fe Jazz Combo and Santa Fe Big Band stood
out the most. The only thing these two bands have in common is that some of the musicians play in
both bands. Otherwise, these jazz fanatics are polar opposites.
When listening to The Santé Fe Jazz Combo, you get a mellow feeling that courses through your body.
Their opener Recorda Me, which was my favorite piece, featured solos from Dr. Hamilton on Piano,
Spencer Hoefert on Guitar, Ben Salhanick on Bass, Doc B on Alto Sax, Wyatt Thomas on Trombone,
and Noah Woolard on Drum Set. The song had a moderate swing tempo that kept your feet tapping up
until the solo. First, the brass rang through their part, then the electric instruments. Next came the
bass; he was strumming so fast but he was barely audible. The pianist busting through with a tricky
piano rift and the drummer finished it off with an intense solo. Every rim shot sent a jolt into the air

On 7th December 2014 I undertook an 11 week internship in Cambodia with the Jesuit Refugee
Service. The internship was arranged through Macquarie University s Participation and Community
Engagement (PACE) program, and undertaken for academic credit as part of the Bachelor of Laws
study program.
Australian Volunteers International (AVI) partnered with PACE to offer logistical assistance and
student training. Pre and post departure training involved modules such as working ethically in
developing countries, building cultural sensitivity, and developing self care practices. In country
training modules included Cambodia s history, current political and social movements, and law and
governance in Cambodia. Weekly Khmer language lessons were also undertaken while in Cambodia.
The internship was offered to twelve law students who demonstrated academic competency and a
broad range of personal attributes including interpersonal and communication skills, commitment to
teamwork, cultural sensitivity, leadership, personal drive and motivation. The internship was
predominately based in Phnom Penh, and involved travel to Siam Reap, Battambang, and Ratanakiri
provinces.

In this essay, I will be discussing my experiences with modals in English and Russian. The purpose of
my project is to investigate the differences in the usage and meanings of modals between the two
languages. My focus will be on the modal, must, and what contexts it is mainly used for. I will start by
discussing what was particularly challenging about this project. Modals are a highly complex area of
grammar both in English and Russian. Several of the texts I have consulted for my project remark on
the difficulty of teaching and learning modals. In English, there is a certain level of ambiguity when it
comes to the meanings of modals. Depending on what context they are used in, modals can mean
several different things and fall into two main categories: epistemic of deontic (Haan, 1995). The
modal I am focusing on, must or dolžen, corresponds semantically only to the root or fictive modals in
English. This fact is the very core of great pedagogical difficulty in teaching these Russian modal
auxiliaries to English speaking students (Croft, 1975). Initially, it was challenging even finding
articles about Russian modals. The articles I discovered did not have a comprehensive list of Russian
modals which made it more difficult to understand. This area of grammar is widely studied in English,
but not so in Russian. Corpus investigations of modality in other languages is lagging behind, (Haan,
1995) which is why it was difficult to find a Russian corpus to analyze for

management aspects. Project management challenges can be viewed from a process perspective and
many experts such as McFarland (1970) highlighted this view. Management is the process by which
managers create, direct, maintain and operate purposive, organizations though systematic,
coordinated, cooperative human effort (McFarland 1970, p. 5). Because projects are transient, their
delivery follows a development process, from germination of the idea, through initiation, design and
delivery, to commissioning, handover to the client and closeout of the work. (Turner 2014, p. 5)

Hamlet Madness In Hamlet
When reading Shakespeare s Hamlet as a class, the first thing that most teachers or professors point
out is the argument/idea of sanity, specifically Hamlet s sanity. I believe that Hamlet is, in fact,
feigning his madness. What I do not know is if I believe this because it is what I was taught or if I
came up with the idea myself based on my own interpretation. When I was taught Hamlet there was
no argument it was just fact that he was faking his madness. Because of my confusion, I came to find

In choosing to believe the ghost, he decides that he must seek revenge on his father s murderer and
will allow nothing to get in his way. From this moment on, Hamlet heads in a downward spiral and we
can track him losing his mind if we just erase the lines that express his plan to act like his is doing so.
These cuts begin from the moment when Hamlet says that he is going To put an antic disposition on
(Act I Scene V). Taking out this one line could change the play entirely. Most of the lines in which he
speaks of this part of his revenge plot following his original declaration of it are moments in which he
is attempting to explain that he isn t actually insane. By removing this one, small line we effectively
make it easier to argue that his madness isn t a part of his plot but it is an actual part of him. Without
having concrete proof before the madness starts that it is, in fact, planned how are we as an audience
supposed to trust him? Removing this line makes it so that the readers, and the other characters, are
entirely unaware of this part of his plan. He acts mad for a while before he mentions again that this is
his plan. The next time Hamlet discloses the part of his revenge plan is when he is speaking to
Guildenstern in Act II Scene II, and tells him that his uncle father and aunt mother are deceived and
