Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay
Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe In the book Things Fall Apart, by Chinua
Achebe, we are able to read about the social changes the white missionaries had on an African tribe.
Mr. Achebe describes the way of life before the missionaries arrived and then records some of the
changes, which occurred due to the changed belief system introduced by these missionaries. Soon
after the missionaries began to teach the tribal people about the Christian faith, their tribal customs
began to be questioned. This caused a sense of unrest in the village. The missionaries were trying to
bring with them new ways of life, and mostly better ways of life. Mr.Achebe tries to show us that the
missionaries showed people who were hurt by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. For example, there was a girl named Nneka who had given birth to several sets of twins. She left
them in the forest as she had been taught to do. Mr. Achebe writes, ?Nneka had had four previous
pregnancies and child births. But each time she had borne twins they had been immediately thrown
away. Her husband and his family were already becoming highly critical of such a woman and were
not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians. It was a good riddance
(pg.151). This shows us how Mr. Achebe understood what was happening and wasn?t surprised when
the women fled to the Christians. We can also see his knowledge of this belief transformation
happening in his village when he writes, ?and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had
fled to join the Christians . This tells us that he didn t really care about the people who left the tribe.
He understood why they left but as he said, ?it was a good riddance . From our point of view we can
understand why the people who were being hurt by the tribes belief system fled from the tribe in
search of a better life. They really had no choice if they didn?t want to live in fear and superstition.
There are many examples of people getting hurt in the Ibo tribe, like when Ikemefuna, the young boy,
was sacrificed after a women from the Ibo tribe was murdered. Mr. Achebe records the incident, ?As
the man who had cleared his throat drew

Hindu Authority
single source of authority. The word Hindu is not a Sanskrit word or nor mentioned in any of the
ancient major texts of India. The word Hindu is to believe to originate from the ancient Persians. The
Persians who shared some of the culture with the Indian sub continent used to call the Indus River as
Sindhu. Due to some in linguistic problems, they could not pronounce the letter S in their language
and started pronouncing the Sindhu as Hindu. The Ancient Greeks and the rest of the world followed
the same word pattern calling the Indus River Valley people as Hindus. The Hindu worship is centered
on the worship of different gods. The different gods that are worship names are as follows: Shiva,

Thus Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are not without connection. They are the same being that have three
different aspects, but the Supreme Being of the gods is Brahma. There are also other names that are
recognized and worshipped in the Hindu religion. For instance the name Lord Ganesha is called upon
and is represented as the head of an elephant, which represents the power of the Supreme Being who
removes obstacles and ensures success in human work. Hindus worship Lord Ganesha before doing
any activity. The World Encyclopedia of Eastern religions records and states that Lord Ganesha is the
first son of Shiva and Parvati. The portrayal of Lord Ganesha is as a blend of humans and animal
parts, which symbolizes the ideas of perfection as formed by Hindu sages. The goddess Durga
represents the power of the Supreme Being, who preserves moral order. The Sanskrit word for Durga
actually means a fort or a place that is protected and thus is difficult to reach. Durga is known as the
Divine mother, who protects humans from evil by destroying evil forces. Durga also has many other
names like Parvati, Ambika, and Kali. She has eighteen arms and in each arm she carries weapons to

Bernard Malamud s Presentation Of Mythology In The Natural
A myth is a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining
some natural or social phenomenon. Mythology in The Natural is the driving force behind the
development of the plot and multiple major characters, particularly Roy Hobbs. Bernard Malamud
blended multiple myths into the novel which are: baseball legend, the wasteland fable, and Horatio
Alger s hero myth. Malamud s incorporation of mythology into the novel develops the plot and
characters of The Natural. Throughout the novel, Bernard Malamud integrates multiple tales from
baseball legend. The novel includes two stories from baseball history, which are the shooting of Eddie
Waitkus and Chuck Hostetler s flop. Malamud also fuses the careers ... Show more content on

Horatio Alger was an American writer who lived in the Nineteenth century. He wrote novels that
mostly followed the same theme, which is known today as the Horatio Alger myth. The Horatio Alger
myth was a rags to riches story where the hero started poor and obtained wealth. The common parable
of a baseball hero followed Horatio Alger s rags to riches story. An example of a Horatio Alger
baseball hero would follow a path of starting poor in a rural area, getting recognized for his natural
talent, rising to fame, and then retiring happy when his talents decay. Malamud s hero, Roy Hobbs,
was an example of a Horatio Alger baseball hero (Turner 2). Roy grew up poor in a rural area, just like
the example of the myth of a baseball hero. A scout discovers Roy and takes him to a big city where
Roy displays prodigious baseball talents, and he becomes famous. At this point, Roy is following the
path of the Horatio Alger baseball myth, but it soon changes. Roy s tragic flaw in the novel is that he
cannot see outside of the myth. In other words, he is so focused on his legacy which makes him very
self centered. When Roy finds that he most likely would not be able to play baseball again to injury,
his selfishness took over. He decided that money is more important than winning the pennant for his
team. Sadly, he takes a bribe from Judge Banner and plans to throw the game. At this point in time,
Roy detaches himself from the myth of a baseball hero due to taking the bribe. Roy attempts to
reattach himself to the myth while in the game. However, he is unable to, and his bat, Wonderboy,
breaks as a result. In taking the bribe, Roy separated himself from the Horatio Alger heroic myth, and
retired from baseball as a villain rather than a hero. Bernard Malamud incorporated the Horatio Alger
heroic myth to develop the character of Roy Hobbs and showed how Roy s decisions changed his

Benefits And Treatment Of Dissociative Identity Disorder
Diazepam Paired With Psychotherapy Dissociative Identity Disorder is a disorder that is hardly talked
about, however has extreme effects on patients that suffer with it. However, this topic is important
because it can lead to finding treatments that may be more effective for patients with DID. Past studies
have shown that the main treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder usually involves therapy. The
most popular types of therapy are psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and family therapy. Treatment for
DID has a specific purpose which is to unite an individual with their personalities, and form a
functional identity (Pais, 2009). Additionally, a strength of past studies is that they usually do a follow
up on patients. Another strength is that the participants are usually all of different ages. One limitation
is that there is never enough participants for research, another limitation is that there aren t many
treatment options to try on patients. Furthermore, is diazepam useful when paired with psychotherapy?
Moreover, my study will be unique because there has only been one case that tried lorazepam, which
is a similar drug to diazepam, and it proved to be successful (Mushtaq, Shoib, Arif, Shah, Mushtaq,
2014). Also, my study will have more than one patient, to have more accurate results. Finally,
diazepam and psychotherapy could be a good treatment for DID. Method

Ama-Terasus, From The Greek Myth Of The Trojan War
All throughout history, there has been a fine balance between government and family. Millions go off
to war to fight for their country, while leaving their precious lives and families behind. Hector, and
many other Greeks and Trojans, had to go off and fight for their loved ones and defend their beloved
country. In the same way, Ama Terasu had to push away her own brother, so she could focus on her
own duties and rule over the land. Hector, from the Trojan War, and Ama Terasu, from the Japanese
Myth, are two perfect examples of two people/gods finding perfect peace between defending their
countries and being with their loved ones for all of their days.
In the Greek myth of the Trojan War, Hector had to say goodbye to his family, knowing that he may
never be able to see them again. His wife, Andromache, begged him to stay, as they had just had a new
baby boy, Ajax. At the sight of Hector, Ajax bursted into tears in fear as he was wearing a helmet, and
he didn t recognize him right away. As soon as he took off his helmet, he clung to Hector acting as if
he had never been apart from him. Hector knew what he had to do, so he walked away with tears in
his eyes. Sadly there wasn t a happy ending, Hector died in the war, and his wife was later separated
from their son, as he was brutally killed.
Meanwhile, in the Japanese mythology, Ama Terasu wasn t in a war, although she still had to choose
her job, and send her brother away forever. Sosa no wo had come to see Ama Terasu and

Tfr Case Study
This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their
Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of
military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a
tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective
of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing
extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the
intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary
of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome.

TFR planned the raid on a reliable CIA human intelligence source that indicated that some of Aidid s
top lieutenants were planning a meeting near the Bakara Market district of Mogadishu at
approximately 1500 hours (Bowden, 1999). With an OH 58 helicopter and a P 3 Orion reconnaissance
aircraft providing constant surveillance of the target TFR moved to the target aboard 14 helicopters.
TFR used the same TTPs during some of their previous raids. TFR simultaneously sent a ground
convoy to retrieve the assaulting force and captives upon completion. At approximately 1540L, four
MH 6 helicopters landed near the target with Delta operators to assault the objective. Concurrently,
two MH 60 helicopters delivered 30 soldiers to provide inner perimeter security. Four additional MH

School started for my seventh grade year and after my step sisters being at my house for a couple
months they were trying to get out. I wasn t the only one that had depression, at least two out of my
three step sisters became depressed due to how we were treated. Not even one month into my seventh
grade year I had quite a few friends, but only one that 1 that knew a lot about me. At the time she was
really helpful and always there for me. She knew by the second or third month maybe of being in
school that I had cut myself everyday when I went home from school. She never liked that I cut
myself but she knew she couldn t really do anything to stop me from doing it. She knew I cut over 100
times every time I would cut, she tried so hard to try to get me to stop. I just couldn t though, some
people do it for attention but I didn t, only three or so people even knew I did it. I used to do it to
relieve the sadness, pain, sorrow, and stress that I constantly felt. By the middle of the seventh grade
we had stopped being friends for about a month. When we became friends again we got even closer
than we were before. Both of us were having problems with our families and had cut because of them,
and because of us not being friends. My legs and stomach looked like a warzone, my cuts were a lot
worse than hers. We both had a bunch of cuts, clearly neither of us could remember exactly. But I had

The Crusades And The Cuban Missile Crisis
For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all
breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal ( Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty ). These words were said by John F. Kennedy in June 1963, when there were signs of lessening
tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere,
or in irradiated outer space. It allowed underground nuclear tests as long as no radioactive debris falls
outside the boundaries of the nation conducting the test ( Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ), and pledged the
signatories to work towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It began when the United States discovered that there were missiles in their neighboring country Cuba.
The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed their
missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of
Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last
second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban
Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the
parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades
because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the
Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile
Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades
started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the
Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take
over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles
into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former President and Communist Leader of
Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, died. No one is sure if the force of the revolution and the crisis
will dissipate without Mr. Castro and, eventually, his brother. But Fidel Castro s impact on Latin
America and the Western Hemisphere has the earmarks of lasting indefinitely (DePalma). The
capacity of his identity remains inevitable, for better or worse, not only in Cuba but also throughout
the world

Rhetorical Devices In Redfern Speech
Have you ever written an essay, composed a letter or read a book? What do you need to do these
things well? Rhetoric. It is the fundamental building blocks of good education, in determining the
decisions we make and how it further deepens one s knowledge. It can inspire people to be generous,
or provoke people to hate and fear. It can change the world by deepening the purpose of good or bad.
It can turn a speaker into a hero or enemy. It can turn a listener into an alley or an opponent.
Communication involves the beautiful art of interactions and understandings between the souls of our
society. Little do we realise, rhetoric is ceaselessly moulding our human experience through the means
of persuasion and transformation. Good morning to my fellow Year 12 Good Samaritan advanced
students, it is clear that despite contextual differences of texts, the amalgamation of rhetoric, textual
integrity, purpose and form establishes a resonating message to audiences. Therefore, composers
employ great rhetoric and cohesiveness in their speeches which have the capability to persuade and
transform society s views, attitudes and beliefs. This is undoubtedly clear in Paul Keating s, Redfern
Speech and Anwar Sadat s, Speech to the Israeli Knesset , which both exhibit the power of words in
refining our perspectives and ideas. They both achieve value beyond the time and place in which they
were first delivered.
Great rhetoric can have the potential to persuade the audience into

The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay
Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the skin,
hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is to
protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves, veins,
and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skin while keeping
the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the skin include
the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine gland has a
different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the effects of
melanoma on the integumentary system.
Skin
The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The
epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood vessels
running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through diffusion from
the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The epidermis is made of
five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and
the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is where mitosis of
keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes which give the skin it
s pigment. As mitosis takes place in the stratum

Malware Detection And Machine Learning
LITERATURE REVIEW
In this chapter, we do an extensive study of malware detection and machine learning. This includes
malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware
detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE
Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any
form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common definition
of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware as any code
added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause harm or subvert
the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe malware as a generic
term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code. According to
Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a malware. Malware are
generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the data/information in
a computer system or network. MALWARE TYPES
One way of ensuring that the process of analysing malware is as fast as possible is by making
informed hypotheses about the malware and its function. These hypotheses can then be tested. Since it
is evident that better hypotheses can be made upon knowing what the malware does, some of the
categories in which most malware fall into as explained by Sikorski Honig (2012) are

Using Renewable Energy Systems ( Ac )
Summary: At present, most distributed renewable energy systems produce direct current (DC)
electricity which is then inverted to alternating current (AC) and fed into the electric grid.
Simultaneously, many modern building loads and storage systems use rectifiers to convert AC grid
electricity to DC for use at the load or battery. Onsite use of renewable energy production therefore
requires two energy conversions: DC/AC at the point of generation and AC/DC at the load. The Bosch
DC Building Scale Microgrid Platform (DCBMP) offers significant benefits relative to conventional
AC grid systems by distributing as much solar power as possible to DC loads/storage, and then
inverting only the excess power to AC for AC loads and export to the grid. The DCBMP maximizes
the utilization of solar energy on site, smooths the volatility of the PV output, increases the load and
storage efficiencies and minimizes dependence on grid based electricity. The proposal incorporates
long life (20 25 years), commercially ready technology, increasing energy efficiency and improving
energy security. These features are provided at a low up front investment when compared to
conventional AC based systems, enabling a levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) less than $0.14/kWh
by 2020 for behind the meter PV and storage systems and a lower total cost of ownership for the DC
loads and DC resources as compared to other approaches, while providing export power to the utility
grid through smart inverter

The Solar Powered Glass Invention
One valuable accessory made for uses of sustainability is the solar powered glass invention. Its soul
purpose is to sustain energy all around the world. This way, our natural resources can be preserved for
other uses, keeping our environment intact. Also this can help maintain your money by saving energy.
Furthermore, allowing the solar powered glass to maintain the spotlight. The solar powered glass
functions by allowing photons, particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a
flow of electricity. Solar panels actually compromise smaller units called photovoltaic cells. Doing
this helps sustain our environment in many ways. Using this, the use of electricity can be shortened,
reducing our use of resources. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can truly change the world as we know of it today if citizens just took time to install this and expand
on its uses. Not only is the solar powered glass an advantage in modernization toward sustainability,
but also a contribution to science and engineering. When the designers created this innovation, they
had to use STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math] in order to perfect their original plan
and distribute it. They had to find the dimensions, calculate its affect on in and on buildings (biomass)
( Glass ). Also come up with ways to keep any negative results from occurring by adding special
features. A pathetic, weak minded person wouldn t be able to direct anyone, nor come up with these
astonishing plans. This simply proves that astute individuals tend to have more success, which means
the leader of this entire program, must be adroit. For a reference, if you think about classic glass
windows, then in deserts we would need to install power installations of electricity. It all just goes to
show how much technology is constantly improving day by day. We also have glass known as Low e
glass. You may ask yourself what is Low e glass. Low e glass is one of the most popular and versatile
glass placed on buildings used today. The technical reason is because of its constantly improving solar
and thermal performance on glass. And one way this performance is achieved is through the use of

Summary Of The Wind By Barbara Kingsolver
The narrator s name was created by her grandfather. The narrator s grandfather was in Virginia, at that
time people there owned slaves. He fell in love with a Cherokee and stole a horse to marry her and
people did not forgive him for that. Therefore he lost his family name and created a new one, the one
that the narrator has now. That s how the narrator s name was created.
The narrator uses words and imageries to describe her name. Refer to guarded , we can know that she
values her name very much. Refer to knew touched , we know that her name is connected to her
ancestors. Refer to one peppered, flaming autumn he stole a horse, rode over the mountain to marry a

For example, flaming autumn symbolizes passion, she shows us her grandfather s love to her
grandmother. Fruit and seeds symbolizes the care her grandfather gave to the name and the attention
he payed on it. Limbo symbolizes the pain and lost if she lost her name. This tells us how important
the narrator s name is to her. She used imageries in this poem as well. Her photograph has ink thin
braids and buttoned clothes, and nothing that she was called describes what her grandmother looks
like, she says her grandmother has ink thin braids and she wears buttoned clothes, this gives us
something to imagine. One peppered, flaming autumn is another imagery, this sentence describes the
autumn that her grandfather go to find her grandmother. I have touched his boots and moustache is
also an imagery because the sentence gives us a sense of touch. She says she have touched the boots
and moustache means that she has some connections with her ancestors.
Literary devices are used in the poem. For example, I have guarded my name as people in other times
kept their own clipped hair, believing the soul could be scattered if they were careless uses
personification because soul can t actually be scattered. Another personification used in the poem is

The Passionate Shepherd Poem Analysis
This is the intro on the two stories. One story is The Passionate Shepherd and the other poem is called
The Nymph s Reply. And later on in the essay ima talk about are they compare and how they contrast
and how they symbol each other. Also I am going to talk about how both of these stories symbolize
love.
In the poem of The Passionate Shepherd, this poem is containing to about happiness and living a nice
life and loving everyone that s surrounded by you. The poem shows that kind of love by how the sun
is shining bright and how the flowers is starting to sprout and how all the trees are growing. The story
also shows and talk about good feelings about everything that goes on in the story such like The

So over time flies by in like a blink of an eye because time never stay it always move and it most
likely gonna be gone in no time. So between this two poem s my favorite would be the first one
because the first stories show that it has more happiness and the other one did, and you can see which
one has more happiness and joy. In this two poems the first poem is talking about how nature and
theme were of the poem. The theme of the first poem was exciting and happy and loving, all because
of nature it was the end. Such like it took place in the middle of spring and spring represents blooming
flowers and sunny weather and the atmosphere is joyful all the way through. Also with the poem being
good as it is it gave a happy ending at the end of the poem. The story Nymphs was like the first poem
but different. The poem nymph s theme and nature were opposite in this poem it was cold and
snowing and just a dreadful night skies look. I think the snow in this poem represents cold hearted and
not happy as much and dreading as time goes on in the poem. Also the reason i think the second poem
is dreading because snow symbolizes cold but spring symbolizes warm.
This is the third paragraph in and this paragraph I am going to be talking about the similarities. The
similarities in the poems are there both containing to love but which one shows the most love. One
poem shows the perfection of life and is warm hearted and sunny and happy. That poem shows that
everyone is happy

The Third Wave Feminism
There are three waves of feminism. The first wave (1830 s early 1900 s) emphasized on legal issues
and gaining political power including the right to vote to bring gender equality. The second wave
(1960 s 1980 s) stressed on broadening the discussions to a wider range. They focused on the work
place, sexuality, family, reproductive rights, domestic violence and marital rape issues. The third wave
(1900 s present) expands the topic of feminism to include women with varied identities and a response
to the failures of movements by second wave feminism. Rebecca Walker coined the term third wave
feminism in an essay Becoming the Third Wave (1992). In the introduction to idea of third wave
feminism in Manifesta authors Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards suggest that feminism can
change with every generation and individual. Feminists have long criticised the institution of
marriage. They stated that marriage leads to oppression of women and their rights curtailed. The
gender inequality is judged from the fact that mostly women take up domestic and caring work and
they get paid less than men for outside work. Traditionally, all men give speech and the women
surrender her name to take her husband s name. As a high profile couple, Jean Paul Sartre and Simone
de Beauvoir always expressed opposition to marriage. Brian Sawyer in his post published in
November 2003 wrote Marriage, understood existentially, proposes to join two free selves into one

Alex Haley assisted Malcolm X in his writing, and together they produced a masterpiece. This book
appeals to those interested in social justice and reform, as well as religion and spiritual enlightenment.

All of Haley s works serve to commemorate the treacherous struggle that blacks experienced
throughout American history.
Malcolm Little was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 19, 1925, into a family of eight children. His
father, Earl Little, was a baptist minister whose outspoken push for civil rights made him a target to
constant death threats. When Malcolm was only four years old, the family s home was burned down.
Two years later, as the threats grew more severe, Earl Little s dead body was found in the street. The
police ruled both cases as accidents, but Malcolm concluded that they were related to the Black
Legion, a terrorist group of white supremacists. Earl s death took a huge toll the Little family. With no
steady source of income, they relied on welfare. Malcolm s mother was taken over with devastation,
so much so that she was eventually admitted into a mental institution, sending all eight Little kids to
foster homes with conditions hardly better than before.
At a much too early age, Malcolm understood his role as a negro living in the early eighteenth century.
Malcolm was an intelligent kid who constantly focused on his education. When asked what he wanted
to do in the future, he told his teacher he wanted to be a lawyer. His teacher responded with pitiful
laughter, telling him that his goal was unreasonable, for black people simply weren t good enough to
be lawyers. Malcolm recalled the sheer change in heart he experienced that day. He accepts

Milpa Agriculture Research Paper
Mayan civilization underwent massive developments in agriculture and within their society.
According to historian Sylvanus Griswold Morley, Maya Maize agricultural practices have remained
the same as they were over three thousand years ago. (Morley 128) A uncomplicated process of felling
the forest, burning dried trees and bushes, planting, and switching up the spots of the cornfields every
few years. This system is known as the milpa agriculture, pulled from the Aztec word for cornfield.
Agricultural tools were fire hardened, the Maya xul, a pointed planting stick, the baat, a stone axe,
chim, a fiber bag for carrying the seed corn. At first, they used sticks to punch holes into the ground,
but progressively obtained more advanced farming techniques. Their main crops they grew were

Maya milpa agriculture can be separated into eleven different stages: locating the field, the selection
of a plot of ground for the cornfield is a crucial step. The milpero, or corn farmer, spends a whole day
observantly searching for the precise type of soil. (Morley 129) Felling the forest and bushes, the
milpero starts to fell the bush after sunrise has occurred and would continue until early afternoon.
Felling the trees and bushes would consume a lengthy period of time and energy. (Morley 131)
Burning the dried bushes, the felled bush would normally be burned in March or April, after the hot
days of February and March have passed. The cornfield is set ablaze when the wind is blowing strong
enough, in order to thoroughly burn the cornfield. (Morley 132) Fencing the field was not required in
ancient Mayan times because the domestication of animals had not happened. Planting the field,

Drosophila Fruit Fly
Introduction:
General background information Drosophila melanogaster is a fruit fly. On average, they are about
3mm in length and prefer to live near spoiled fruit. They can be found on every continent of the world
except for Antarctica. The Drosophila melanogaster egg us about .5mm long. It takes about one day
after fertilization to develop and hatch into a worm like larva. The larva eats and grown continuously,
molting one day, two days, and four days after hatching. After two days as a third instar larva, it molts
one more time to form an immobile pup. Over the next four days, the body is completely remodeled to
give the adult winged form, which then hatches for the pupal case and is fertile within about only 12
hours. (ceolas.org) The female phenotype differs from the male phenotype, because females have
stripes, lighter coloring, and they have longer abdomens. Males have stripes at the back of their
abdomen that make it look darker, and their abdomens are shorter and blunter. They also have sex

usually has dark red eyes. The mutant was male. It was crossed with wild type females and over
generations led scientists to conclude that this mutation was somehow physically connected to the
factor that determined sex. Crossing white eyed males and red eyed females from the second
generation produced equal number of offspring with each eye color. Males have white eyes when they
inherit the gene on the X chromosome from their mother. Females only show the trait if they inherit
mutant genes on both X chromosomes. This can be demonstrated by using a Punnett Square to show

Talk To Her
Question 1
Talk to Her is a Spanish film written in 2002 and directed by Pedro Almodovar. The plot revolves
around two men with an unlikely friendship and in deep care for two other women suffering from
comas. The themes adopted by the writer are mainly persistence of love, the difficulty of
communication as well as loneliness and intimacy. Like any other drama, the film reveals a unique
style and concepts of artistry. In particular, the film highlights the ideas of postmodern narratives
commonly adopted by many contemporary playwrights. While postmodernism in art is used as a
departure from the typical modernism to explicit distrust of theories and ideologies, this film exhibits
a wider sphere. Apart from the themes used in the play, the humor and unrelenting ... Show more

In truth, his character is a complete perversion of the virtue that he exemplifies throughout the film.
Apart from being too good, Benigno violates Alicia s integrity when he rapes the lady in his quest to
realize a merger between them after an extended period of admiration. In my opinion, Benigno is
psychologically troubled individual throughout the movie. In fact, for the majority of the film, he is
undeniably the most sympathetic figure since he appears saintly against the backdrop of all his
failures. Perhaps, the playwright does not intend to have the audience capture an immediate
impression of the character but use him as the center of comic. Despite the violence and immoral
attitude, Benigno s integrity, as well as authenticity, remains mostly questionable.
Question 3
I concur that Benigno s character is not only ironic but is also central to creating meaning out of the
movie, Talk to Her. Moreover, his admiration and a weak sense of relationship boundaries are to
blame for the heinous act he did on Alicia hence his

The Oak Island Money Pit
The Discovery
The Oak Island Money Pit was discovered the summer of 1795 by Daniel McGinnis. He was drawn
into the island by strange lights visible from his house. Upon his investigation, he comes across a
block and tackle hung directly over a circular indentation on the island s floor. Daniel, along with two
of his friends John Smith and Anthony Vaughan started to dig out the bizarre pit. Their curiosity is due
to that time period being the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Piracy (Maritime Museum of the Atlantic).

Plausible Theories
Word about the Money Pit has spread since its discovery and people from all over North America
were fascinated. From lawyers, businessmen, doctors, actors and even a president was curious about
the mysterious site. Many theories have been contemplated, but not one in particular has been fully
certified to be the truth. The most popular theories are those of pirates. Captain William Kidd was said
to have admitted in burying treasure in the Oak Island area before he was captured in 1699, but
suspicions are that he would not have had enough money to construct the Money Pit. The other pirate
that is though to have established the Money Pit is Blackbeard. Blackbeard has been associated with
Oak Island and that he has mentioned having an underground treasure, where none but Satan and
[him]self can find it (Blackbeard), but there is no evidence of the treasure being in Oak Island.
Another theory is that the Money Pit is simply a natural phenomenon. A part of the structure is
unquestionably man made because of the stone tablet and the platforms every 10 feet, but the rest is
thought to be a sinkhole, which would explain all of the flooding.
Conclusion
Today the secret of the Oak Island Money Pit remain unknown. The island s floor is marked by 200
years of digging by people in hopes of finding the contents that lay within. Weather the Money Pit
contains treasure or if it is merely a work of nature, the Oak Island Money Pit

Compare And Contrast The Three Western Religions
A Comparison and Contrast of the Three Western Religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
World over, men are bound by their belief in supernatural powers. They endear to remain faithful to
the values that they observe because they believe their lives and actions are monitored by an Almighty
power (Stone, 75). Christianity, Judaism, and Islam mark some of the major religious faction that the

Challenges Facing Indigenous Latin Americans
Smith discusses how important advances have been made over the past four decades in improving
both the living and the political conditions for many of Latin America s indigenous peoples. Chase
Smith discusses five major challenges facing Indigenous Latin Americans. Three of which will be
discussed in this report. Firstly, there are many challenges regarding territory and resources. Smith
states that since the beginning of European colonial domination in the Americas, that Indigenous
peoples have suffered and protested the continual loss of access to their land and resources in order to
their place in this world. The twentieth century brought political and organizational innovations to
support indigenous peoples attempts to recover and insure access to resources. Chase uses the example
of Brazil, the Andean Amazon and parts of Central America, in which, the Indigenous peoples
demands now focus on state recognition of their collective rights to a territory, which includes subsoil
and surface resources. Smith emphasized that Latin American republics has usually limited the
recognition of territorial rights for Indigenous peoples to those populations that are defined by law as
indigenous. This often leaves out and marginalizes large Indigenous populations catalogued as peasant
or as mestizo . According to Smith, this idea leaves out two important outcomes of those debates that
go hand in hand. One being that all human beings have the right to define for themselves

  • 2. Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essay Social Changes in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe In the book Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, we are able to read about the social changes the white missionaries had on an African tribe. Mr. Achebe describes the way of life before the missionaries arrived and then records some of the changes, which occurred due to the changed belief system introduced by these missionaries. Soon after the missionaries began to teach the tribal people about the Christian faith, their tribal customs began to be questioned. This caused a sense of unrest in the village. The missionaries were trying to bring with them new ways of life, and mostly better ways of life. Mr.Achebe tries to show us that the missionaries showed people who were hurt by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... . For example, there was a girl named Nneka who had given birth to several sets of twins. She left them in the forest as she had been taught to do. Mr. Achebe writes, ?Nneka had had four previous pregnancies and child births. But each time she had borne twins they had been immediately thrown away. Her husband and his family were already becoming highly critical of such a woman and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians. It was a good riddance (pg.151). This shows us how Mr. Achebe understood what was happening and wasn?t surprised when the women fled to the Christians. We can also see his knowledge of this belief transformation happening in his village when he writes, ?and were not unduly perturbed when they found out she had fled to join the Christians . This tells us that he didn t really care about the people who left the tribe. He understood why they left but as he said, ?it was a good riddance . From our point of view we can understand why the people who were being hurt by the tribes belief system fled from the tribe in search of a better life. They really had no choice if they didn?t want to live in fear and superstition. There are many examples of people getting hurt in the Ibo tribe, like when Ikemefuna, the young boy, was sacrificed after a women from the Ibo tribe was murdered. Mr. Achebe records the incident, ?As the man who had cleared his throat drew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hindu Authority single source of authority. The word Hindu is not a Sanskrit word or nor mentioned in any of the ancient major texts of India. The word Hindu is to believe to originate from the ancient Persians. The Persians who shared some of the culture with the Indian sub continent used to call the Indus River as Sindhu. Due to some in linguistic problems, they could not pronounce the letter S in their language and started pronouncing the Sindhu as Hindu. The Ancient Greeks and the rest of the world followed the same word pattern calling the Indus River Valley people as Hindus. The Hindu worship is centered on the worship of different gods. The different gods that are worship names are as follows: Shiva, Ganesha, Krishna, Nataraja, and Vishnu. But the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are not without connection. They are the same being that have three different aspects, but the Supreme Being of the gods is Brahma. There are also other names that are recognized and worshipped in the Hindu religion. For instance the name Lord Ganesha is called upon and is represented as the head of an elephant, which represents the power of the Supreme Being who removes obstacles and ensures success in human work. Hindus worship Lord Ganesha before doing any activity. The World Encyclopedia of Eastern religions records and states that Lord Ganesha is the first son of Shiva and Parvati. The portrayal of Lord Ganesha is as a blend of humans and animal parts, which symbolizes the ideas of perfection as formed by Hindu sages. The goddess Durga represents the power of the Supreme Being, who preserves moral order. The Sanskrit word for Durga actually means a fort or a place that is protected and thus is difficult to reach. Durga is known as the Divine mother, who protects humans from evil by destroying evil forces. Durga also has many other names like Parvati, Ambika, and Kali. • 4. Bernard Malamud s Presentation Of Mythology In The Natural A myth is a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon. Mythology in The Natural is the driving force behind the development of the plot and multiple major characters, particularly Roy Hobbs. Bernard Malamud blended multiple myths into the novel which are: baseball legend, the wasteland fable, and Horatio Alger s hero myth. Malamud s incorporation of mythology into the novel develops the plot and characters of The Natural. Throughout the novel, Bernard Malamud integrates multiple tales from baseball legend. The novel includes two stories from baseball history, which are the shooting of Eddie Waitkus and Chuck Hostetler s flop. Malamud also fuses the careers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Horatio Alger was an American writer who lived in the Nineteenth century. He wrote novels that mostly followed the same theme, which is known today as the Horatio Alger myth. The Horatio Alger myth was a rags to riches story where the hero started poor and obtained wealth. The common parable of a baseball hero followed Horatio Alger s rags to riches story. An example of a Horatio Alger baseball hero would follow a path of starting poor in a rural area, getting recognized for his natural talent, rising to fame, and then retiring happy when his talents decay. Malamud s hero, Roy Hobbs, was an example of a Horatio Alger baseball hero (Turner 2). Roy grew up poor in a rural area, just like the example of the myth of a baseball hero. A scout discovers Roy and takes him to a big city where Roy displays prodigious baseball talents, and he becomes famous. At this point, Roy is following the path of the Horatio Alger baseball myth, but it soon changes. Roy s tragic flaw in the novel is that he cannot see outside of the myth. In other words, he is so focused on his legacy which makes him very self centered. When Roy finds that he most likely would not be able to play baseball again to injury, his selfishness took over. He decided that money is more important than winning the pennant for his team. Sadly, he takes a bribe from Judge Banner and plans to throw the game. At this point in time, Roy detaches himself from the myth of a baseball hero due to taking the bribe. Roy attempts to reattach himself to the myth while in the game. However, he is unable to, and his bat, Wonderboy, breaks as a result. In taking the bribe, Roy separated himself from the Horatio Alger heroic myth, and retired from baseball as a villain rather than a hero. Bernard Malamud incorporated the Horatio Alger heroic myth to develop the character of Roy Hobbs and showed how Roy s decisions changed his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Benefits And Treatment Of Dissociative Identity Disorder Diazepam Paired With Psychotherapy Dissociative Identity Disorder is a disorder that is hardly talked about, however has extreme effects on patients that suffer with it. However, this topic is important because it can lead to finding treatments that may be more effective for patients with DID. Past studies have shown that the main treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder usually involves therapy. The most popular types of therapy are psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and family therapy. Treatment for DID has a specific purpose which is to unite an individual with their personalities, and form a functional identity (Pais, 2009). Additionally, a strength of past studies is that they usually do a follow up on patients. Another strength is that the participants are usually all of different ages. One limitation is that there is never enough participants for research, another limitation is that there aren t many treatment options to try on patients. Furthermore, is diazepam useful when paired with psychotherapy? Moreover, my study will be unique because there has only been one case that tried lorazepam, which is a similar drug to diazepam, and it proved to be successful (Mushtaq, Shoib, Arif, Shah, Mushtaq, 2014). Also, my study will have more than one patient, to have more accurate results. Finally, diazepam and psychotherapy could be a good treatment for DID. Method Participants/Subjects It ... • 6. Ama-Terasus, From The Greek Myth Of The Trojan War All throughout history, there has been a fine balance between government and family. Millions go off to war to fight for their country, while leaving their precious lives and families behind. Hector, and many other Greeks and Trojans, had to go off and fight for their loved ones and defend their beloved country. In the same way, Ama Terasu had to push away her own brother, so she could focus on her own duties and rule over the land. Hector, from the Trojan War, and Ama Terasu, from the Japanese Myth, are two perfect examples of two people/gods finding perfect peace between defending their countries and being with their loved ones for all of their days. In the Greek myth of the Trojan War, Hector had to say goodbye to his family, knowing that he may never be able to see them again. His wife, Andromache, begged him to stay, as they had just had a new baby boy, Ajax. At the sight of Hector, Ajax bursted into tears in fear as he was wearing a helmet, and he didn t recognize him right away. As soon as he took off his helmet, he clung to Hector acting as if he had never been apart from him. Hector knew what he had to do, so he walked away with tears in his eyes. Sadly there wasn t a happy ending, Hector died in the war, and his wife was later separated from their son, as he was brutally killed. Meanwhile, in the Japanese mythology, Ama Terasu wasn t in a war, although she still had to choose her job, and send her brother away forever. Sosa no wo had come to see Ama Terasu and ... • 7. Tfr Case Study This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome. TFR used the same TTPs during some of their previous raids. TFR simultaneously sent a ground convoy to retrieve the assaulting force and captives upon completion. At approximately 1540L, four MH 6 helicopters landed near the target with Delta operators to assault the objective. There s a long story behind how and why I know I won t be like her and I ll tell you. But first I m going to tell you why I do want to be like her. I want to be like her because she is very smart, and has a lot of ambition for work. I know I won t ever be like her though, because I won t let my children be physically abused by my husband or boyfriend. I won t let my children harm themselves and blow it off like it s nothing. Not even one month into my seventh grade year I had quite a few friends, but only one that 1 that knew a lot about me. At the time she was really helpful and always there for me. She knew by the second or third month maybe of being in school that I had cut myself everyday when I went home from school. She never liked that I cut myself but she knew she couldn t really do anything to stop me from doing it. She knew I cut over 100 times every time I would cut, she tried so hard to try to get me to stop. I just couldn t though, some people do it for attention but I didn t, only three or so people even knew I did it. I used to do it to relieve the sadness, pain, sorrow, and stress that I constantly felt. By the middle of the seventh grade we had stopped being friends for about a month. When we became friends again we got even closer than we were before. Both of us were having problems with our families and had cut because of them, and because of us not being friends. My legs and stomach looked like a warzone, my cuts were a lot worse than hers. We both had a bunch of cuts, clearly neither of us could remember exactly. • 9. The Crusades And The Cuban Missile Crisis For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal ( Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ). These words were said by John F. Kennedy in June 1963, when there were signs of lessening tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, and signed the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which forbid nuclear weapon tests or other nuclear explosions under water, in the atmosphere, or in irradiated outer space. It allowed underground nuclear tests as long as no radioactive debris falls outside the boundaries of the nation conducting the test ( Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ), and pledged the signatories to work towards ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It began when the United States discovered that there were missiles in their neighboring country Cuba. The missiles stationed in Cuba, belonged to the Soviet Union. Also, the United States placed their missiles in the Soviet neighboring country of Turkey and in the southern part of the nearby country of Italy. Kennedy and his advisers were planning to launch missiles into Soviet territory, but at the last second, he called off his top advisers and canceled the nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. The Cuban Missile Crisis is like the Crusades in early first millennia. Cuba would represent Jerusalem, the parenthetical focus of the Crusades. The U.S. would represent the Christians, who won the Crusades because the United States would eventually win the Cold War. The U.S.S.R. would represent the Muslims, who lost the the Crusades because the Soviets lost the war in the end. The Cuban Missile Crisis can be similar to the Crusades because both events started almost the same way. The Crusades started when Muslims wanted to conquer land near Jerusalem, the holy city that belong to the Christians, just like the Soviets and Cuba. The Christians were afraid that the Muslims would take over the city of Jerusalem, just like the U.S. thought that the Soviets were going to launch missiles into the United States. November 25, 2016, Fidel Castro, former President and Communist Leader of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, died. No one is sure if the force of the revolution and the crisis will dissipate without Mr. Castro and, eventually, his brother. But Fidel Castro s impact on Latin America and the Western Hemisphere has the earmarks of lasting indefinitely (DePalma). • 10. Rhetorical Devices In Redfern Speech Have you ever written an essay, composed a letter or read a book? What do you need to do these things well? Rhetoric. It is the fundamental building blocks of good education, in determining the decisions we make and how it further deepens one s knowledge. It can inspire people to be generous, or provoke people to hate and fear. It can change the world by deepening the purpose of good or bad. It can turn a speaker into a hero or enemy. It can turn a listener into an alley or an opponent. Communication involves the beautiful art of interactions and understandings between the souls of our society. Little do we realise, rhetoric is ceaselessly moulding our human experience through the means of persuasion and transformation. Good morning to my fellow Year 12 Good Samaritan advanced students, it is clear that despite contextual differences of texts, the amalgamation of rhetoric, textual integrity, purpose and form establishes a resonating message to audiences. Therefore, composers employ great rhetoric and cohesiveness in their speeches which have the capability to persuade and transform society s views, attitudes and beliefs. This is undoubtedly clear in Paul Keating s, Redfern Speech and Anwar Sadat s, Speech to the Israeli Knesset , which both exhibit the power of words in refining our perspectives and ideas. They both achieve value beyond the time and place in which they were first delivered. Great rhetoric can have the potential to persuade the audience into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the skin, hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is to protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves, veins, and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skin while keeping the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the skin include the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine gland has a different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the effects of melanoma on the integumentary system. Skin The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood vessels running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through diffusion from the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The epidermis is made of five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is where mitosis of keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes which give the skin it s pigment. • 12. Malware Detection And Machine Learning LITERATURE REVIEW In this chapter, we do an extensive study of malware detection and machine learning. This includes malware types, life cycle of a malware, malware analysis and detection, strategies for malware detection as well as machine learning and its types. MALWARE Malware has been given different names and definitions. The word Malware is used to describe any form of malicious code also called malcode, malicious software or programs. One common definition of malware is the definition by McGraw and Morrisett (2000), that defines a malware as any code added, changed, or removed from a software system in order to intentionally cause harm or subvert the intended function of the system. Vasudevan Yerraballi (2006) also describe malware as a generic term that encompasses viruses, trojans, spywares and other intrusive code. According to Christodorescu et al. (2005) any program that has a malevolent objective is a malware. Malware are generally created to compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of the data/information in a computer system or network. MALWARE TYPES One way of ensuring that the process of analysing malware is as fast as possible is by making informed hypotheses about the malware and its function. These hypotheses can then be tested. Since it is evident that better hypotheses can be made upon knowing what the malware does, some of the categories in which most malware fall into as explained by Sikorski Honig (2012) are ... • 15. Using Renewable Energy Systems ( Ac ) Summary: At present, most distributed renewable energy systems produce direct current (DC) electricity which is then inverted to alternating current (AC) and fed into the electric grid. Simultaneously, many modern building loads and storage systems use rectifiers to convert AC grid electricity to DC for use at the load or battery. Onsite use of renewable energy production therefore requires two energy conversions: DC/AC at the point of generation and AC/DC at the load. The Bosch DC Building Scale Microgrid Platform (DCBMP) offers significant benefits relative to conventional AC grid systems by distributing as much solar power as possible to DC loads/storage, and then inverting only the excess power to AC for AC loads and export to the grid. The DCBMP maximizes the utilization of solar energy on site, smooths the volatility of the PV output, increases the load and storage efficiencies and minimizes dependence on grid based electricity. The proposal incorporates long life (20 25 years), commercially ready technology, increasing energy efficiency and improving energy security. These features are provided at a low up front investment when compared to conventional AC based systems, enabling a levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) less than $0.14/kWh by 2020 for behind the meter PV and storage systems and a lower total cost of ownership for the DC loads and DC resources as compared to other approaches, while providing export power to the utility grid through smart inverter ... Not only is the solar powered glass an advantage in modernization toward sustainability, but also a contribution to science and engineering. They had to find the dimensions, calculate its affect on in and on buildings (biomass) ( Glass ). Also come up with ways to keep any negative results from occurring by adding special features. He fell in love with a Cherokee and stole a horse to marry her and people did not forgive him for that. Therefore he lost his family name and created a new one, the one that the narrator has now. That s how the narrator s name was created. The narrator uses words and imageries to describe her name. Refer to guarded , we can know that she values her name very much. The first wave (1830 s early 1900 s) emphasized on legal issues and gaining political power including the right to vote to bring gender equality. The second wave (1960 s 1980 s) stressed on broadening the discussions to a wider range. They focused on the work place, sexuality, family, reproductive rights, domestic violence and marital rape issues. The third wave (1900 s present) expands the topic of feminism to include women with varied identities and a response to the failures of movements by second wave feminism. Rebecca Walker coined the term third wave feminism in an essay Becoming the Third Wave (1992). In the introduction to idea of third wave feminism in Manifesta authors Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards suggest that feminism can change with every generation and individual. Feminists have long criticised the institution of marriage. They stated that marriage leads to oppression of women and their rights curtailed. The gender inequality is judged from the fact that mostly women take up domestic and caring work and they get paid less than men for outside work. Traditionally, all men give speech and the women surrender her name to take her husband s name.
