 Builds a bridge between home and school for
the children.
 Time for teacher to interact and build
relationships with the children. GIRFEC
(Getting It Right For Every Child).
 Children can make choices, play and socialise,
which enhances learning.
 Teacher can observe and listen to the views of
the children.
Rules &
Responsibilities
 Rules – agreed on as a class.
 Traffic light system - all children start the day on green.
Verbal warning given if rule is broken followed by a
traffic light change if ignored. Noted in the homework
book so you can discuss the incident at home. Red light
= 5 minutes of golden time lost. Children can earn a
green light back.
 Restorative practice used to ensure all children are
treated fairly.
 Restorative Practice - ‘justice for all’
 RESPECT – for everybody by listening to opinions of others
RESPONSIBILITY – for your own actions
 REPAIR - identifying what went wrong and ensuring it won’t happen
again

Numeracy at
Home
 Count everything! Steps, books, cars, trees, socks etc.
 When tidying encourage children to order items by size or group
by colour.
 Keep track of their height together as they grow.
 Help with shopping and money at the shops.Count change into
piggy bank.
 Help to bake or cook following a recipe.
 Play board games which require counting e.g. snakes and ladders.
 Point out the time and look at the clock together at important
times in the day e.g. dinner time, bed time.
 Have a calendar in the house and change to the right date, month
etc.
 Lots of online games, follow links on twitter and blogs.

  • 4. Know and GrowTime  Builds a bridge between home and school for the children.  Time for teacher to interact and build relationships with the children. GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child).  Children can make choices, play and socialise, which enhances learning.  Teacher can observe and listen to the views of the children.
  • 5. Rules & Responsibilities  Rules – agreed on as a class.  Traffic light system - all children start the day on green. Verbal warning given if rule is broken followed by a traffic light change if ignored. Noted in the homework book so you can discuss the incident at home. Red light = 5 minutes of golden time lost. Children can earn a green light back.  Restorative practice used to ensure all children are treated fairly.  Restorative Practice - ‘justice for all’  RESPECT – for everybody by listening to opinions of others RESPONSIBILITY – for your own actions  REPAIR - identifying what went wrong and ensuring it won’t happen again

  • 9. Activities to Support Numeracy at Home  Count everything! Steps, books, cars, trees, socks etc.  When tidying encourage children to order items by size or group by colour.  Keep track of their height together as they grow.  Help with shopping and money at the shops.Count change into piggy bank.  Help to bake or cook following a recipe.  Play board games which require counting e.g. snakes and ladders.  Point out the time and look at the clock together at important times in the day e.g. dinner time, bed time.  Have a calendar in the house and change to the right date, month etc.  Lots of online games, follow links on twitter and blogs.

Health and Wellbeing  New Resource – Knowing Me, KnowingYou  CircleTime  Living our values  Building resilience  Small Healthy Playpiece: fruit/veg, biscuit, small packet of crisps, small piece of chocolate and water/ milk, NO fizzy juice  Drinking water (no juice allowed in class)  School dinners – go over with children at home. Different theme each month. If you miss it, catch up onTwitter.Teachers responsible for children during the school day, we will dismiss.  Feedback is welcome.
