The study examines the impact of microbial load on the condition index (CI) of the edible oyster, Saccostrea cucullata, in the Indian Sundarbans over two years. Results indicate significant correlations between microbial loads from the environment and the oyster's tissue, with higher stress on oyster growth and survival during the monsoon season. The findings highlight the negative effects of pollution from anthropogenic sources on the health and edibility of the oysters.
