Title: The Composition and Origin of Local Boulders and Their Relation to the
Glaciations of Long Island, New York.

    I. Introduction: states purpose, location and brief overview.

II. Observational study of Boulders within the vicinity of Stony Brook
University. I will attempt to find and study two basic examples of each
common type of boulder found in this area. This includes but is not limited to
gneiss, granite, basalt and quartz monzonite. This section will include:
              A) map showing location of each boulder identified.
              B) Brief overview on key concepts necessary for understanding the
importance of a boulders shape and size.
              C) Colored pictures of each boulder followed by a detail description of its
size, shape, roundness, sphericity, rock type, composition and origin.

III. Research on the composition of possible source areas such as the Long Island
Sound and Connecticut. Here I will attempt to understand and summarize the
findings of Waldemar Pacholik and Gilbert Hansen
              A) Map showing the location of possible source areas.
              B) Detailed description of the bedrock of the Long Island Sound, including
pictures and a detailed comparison to particular boulders found in Stony
                  Brook
              C) Detailed description of the bedrock of Connecticut, including pictures and
a detailed comparison to particular boulders found in Stony Brook.

IV. The Glaciations of Long Island: Here I will use the boulders found in Stony
Brook as evidence for Glaciations of Long Island.
              A) Mechanical description of how glaciers pick up, move and deposit erratics.
              B) Explanation of shape, size and roundness and their implications on travel
                 time and distance
              C) Reasoning behind why the erratics could not of been brought by other
                 means.
              D) How this science supports the findings and conclusions of this report.

    V. Conclusions:
              A) Recap on the theory of how boulders came to be on Long Island and their
                 general origin.
              B) References
