• Teaching approach: Communicative. It's the best approach to foster communication
and acquire new vocabulary.
• Materials and resources: Chart, photocopies, pictures, video, game.
• Integration of skills: reading, by reading a dialogue about the topic, speaking by
describing the river coast of our town and listening by listening to a video.
• Seating arrangement: in pairs, looking at the board.
• Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the class: there are
many interruptions because the secretary or the preceptors have to give messages to the
students, but maintaining them occupied with work will help them not to lose focus.
• Potential problems students may have with the language: there might be problems with
the difference between the pronunciation of the words where and were. Some practice,
like reading and speaking, using questions or statements that include both words will
help students.
• Assessment: their ability to talk about past actions and the places in town.
Routine (3')
- Good morning everyone! How are you today? I'm very glad, I hope you are glad to see
me again.
- Can anyone tell me the date please? I'll write it on the board.
Warm up (7')
- Today we're going to start by watching t a video of a girl who has a band and wants to
tell us what her town is like. In order to help you understand the town, I have brought a
poster with a map just like the one the girl describes, look at it. As in the video you
won’t be able to see pictures of the places, the poster I brought will help you understand
the song better.
- Now let’s watch the video.
Development (67')
Activity 1 (10')
- Now it's time to practice! I'll give each of you a photocopy with the pictures of the
poster and the song, so you’ll paste them in your folders. Also, on the same photocopy,
you’ll find the names of the places, which you’ll have to paste below the correct picture.
Activity 2 (15')
- A very expensive statue has been stolen, but nobody knows who the thief is. I'll give
each of you a copy of the dialogue between Detective White and some witnesses. You
can read it in pairs and then read the sentences that are below the text. All the sentences
are wrong, so, according to the dialogue, correct the wrong information. You’ll work in
pairs for this activity.
Mystery at the town
White – I’m detective White. Was there anything strange in this area?
Person 1 - There was a woman near the hospital at half past three. Her bag was very big.
There wasn’t a man with her.
Person 2 - There were two strange people in the bus station at quarter to four. There was
a strange woman.
Person 3 - There weren’t any people in the park at four o’clock. It was rainy at that
moment.
Person 4 - There was a man at the train station at four o’clock. He was in a hurry. His
bag was very big. There wasn’t a woman with him.

e. It was sunny at 4 o’clock in the park.
Activity 3 (15')

your mate is going to receive a different chart. The idea is that you complete your chart
with the information your mate is going to give you. For this activity, you’ll have to
read the dialogue with your partner and complete it with the missing words you listen.
