   According to the Arthritis Foundation, the disease is
    most prevalent among individuals 45 years of age and
    older.

    becomes weak and stiffer due to bony spurs
   Being overweight , (obesity)

   Getting older ( aging )

   An individual must seek the diagnosis of a
    physician.

   After a physical examination and full detailing
    of symptoms have been discussed, the
    physician may also recommend X-rays to
    confirm presence of the disease.

   Other tests such as blood tests or exams of
    the fluid in the joints are carried out to
    identify type of OA.
   Joint movement may cause a cracking (grating)
    sound, called crepitation

   Joint swelling (bones around the joints may feel
    larger than normal)

   Limited range of motion

   Tenderness when the joint is pressed

   Normal movement is often painful
