This model was developed by Osgood and Schramm in 1954 to explain the fundamental nature and process of communication. It presents communication as a circular process where the sender's message is encoded and decoded by the receiver, with the potential for the receiver to then respond in their own message. Some advantages are that it shows how situations can change dynamically and emphasizes the importance of redundancy, but it does not account for semantic noise or incorporate feedback into the model.
