Seung Heon Lee from the Center for FMD Vaccine Research evaluated the antigenic relatedness between FMD vaccines and viruses currently circulating in Southern East Asia. He found that the O1/Manisa and O/Boeun vaccine strains provided sufficient protection against the O/ME-SA/PanAsia strains currently circulating in the region based on in vitro neutralization testing. The O/3039 vaccine strain showed 85.7% matching, while the O/Primorsky and O1/Campos strains only showed 28.6% matching to the field viruses.
