3. Main image (contents)
• I chose this image because I liked the positioning of the
model, it has a lot of dead space on the left hand side
which is potential space for the contents information. As
well as this I wanted to represent women in my
magazine as well as men, because it is typically always
a male or a male band on the cover I thought I should
include a girl on the cover. As well as this her pose looks
confident, which goes well with the genre. She is
wearing a band t-shirt which adds to the mise en scene,
it makes the magazine seem more integrated, she’s also
wearing dark lipstick which is stereotypical for the genre.

I chose this image because I thought it was a good head
shot of one of the band members. I chose to use more
images of the band on the cover on the contents so that the
magazine (cover and contents) worked in synergy. The
shot is different to the others because it is a single shot in
comparison with the group shots. The expression is light
hearted and looks spontaneous. I changed the background
so that the mise en scene made more sense alongside the
magazines genre.
7. Secondary image

I chose this image because of the facial expression once
again as it looks spontaneous and light hearted. I also like
the fact that the blue lighting in the original image looks
effective in the final image as there is aesthetic lighting in
the background. I changed the background as once again it
makes more sense with the rest of the magazine. In my
magazine I added borders on these images also so they
stand out more.
9. Main image
I used this image because all of the band are giving the
camera direct address. This is important because it is a
typical feature of a magazine front cover- it lures the
audience in. Also I thought the fact that there are different
levels in the image (Ollie at the front) made it more
interesting and feel more laid back, which is a common
feature within images of bands. The band look close
together which reflects their relationship making the
audience want to read on.
