Present Day Chaucer
The Crazy Adventure
The Discussion of Present Day Chaucer Chaucer is a famous author from the 1300 s, he wrote many
stories such as The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer shows multiple people who we might look up to for all
the wrong reasons. He also shows how much stress can be put on one person to do everything.
Sometimes it s hard to be the perfect person that everyone wants but we have to do it anyways.
Chaucer seems to be the person looking for the bad in everyone and trying to help them fix it.
Obviously, if Chaucer was writing the Canterbury Tales now a days I think he would have three
different kinds of characters telling a story. For instance, I can see him adding a football player
specifically one like Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall is a Denver Broncos Linebacker who
kneeled down during the National Anthem like his fellow opponent Colin Kaepernick. I think he
would pick a football player because people are always watching the Superbowl as a family on
holidays like Thanksgiving. When kids grow up watching these athletes play they can believe they are

I think Chaucer would have her in his story because Hillary is someone who is being voted to be our
next president who has already lied about so many things and gotten away with it. I think Chaucer
would find this as a fault in the government and would add her in to make fun at her for being so
dishonest. He would also make fun of her followers because they are so willing to be lied to about
everything just because they want a girl president. Although I disagree wholeheartedly because I feel
as though we shouldn t elect someone due to their race and or sexuality. We should elect them because
they are going to do what s right or this country and the people in it. Hillary would be the person in a
story that tells nothing but lies too make it so people hear what they want to hear even though she won

Hitler s And The Nazi Party
Hitler s henchmen were those inside the Richstag and other important segments of the German
government. These include Joseph Goebbels, Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Heinrich Himmler,
Ernst Rohm, Reinhard Heydrich. It is debated if they escaped justice or not.
Joseph Goebbels was born in 1897 and became a doctor in philosophy in 1920. Due to his hatred of
the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, he joined the Nazi party near the end of 1924 to help build
support for the party in Berlin. In 1923 he was given full control of the Nazi s propaganda machine.
Goebbels was elected into the Reichstag in 1928 and, at 1933, was given the role as the Minister of
Enlightenment and Propaganda , which he worked as until 1945. His skill at the role gave him the
nickname as the Poison Dwarf . At the near end of the Second World War when Berlin was besieged
by the Russians during April to May 1945, Joseph stayed with Hitler in his bunker. Which he was
given Hitler s watch as a token of appreciation for being with him to the very end. On May 1st,
Goebbels poisoned his six children then shot his wife and then himself.
Hermann Goering was born in 1893 and found popularity in World War One as a fighter ace. Winning
many awards for bravery and was the last commander of the infamous Richthofen Fighter Squadron.
He joined the Nazi Party in October 1922 and wounded in the Munich Putsch. In 1928, Goering got
elected to the Reichstag before he got back from Sweden. During 1932, he was

Argumentative Essay On Jump Racing
The issue that has been discussed recently is horse jump racing, which is where the horses race across
the track jumping brush fences and sometimes ditches. This is an issue in sport because many horses
are having horrific falls and dying from participating in the event, which many people do not
understand. Some people think it is good for the community and some people disagree.
The argument for jump racing to continue is that many people think that horses that have died from
jump racing are purely freak accidents, that this could happen with any animal in any sport. The
people involved and that support the sport suggest that they know the risk, they make sure
organisations such as the RSPCA are involved to oversee the sport and that horses ... Show more

Statistics over many years have shown that jumps races are even more dangerous and harmful for
horses, with up to 20 times more fatalities than flat races (Horse Racing, 2017). Jump racing is also a
lot more demanding then flat races as they are longer, they also jump and run approximately the same
speed as flat races and the jockeys are required to be heavier. Many people have even bigger issues
with the training and well being of these horses. If normal race horses have bleeding in the lungs,
stuck in stalls for large periods of time, being over worked and given unnatural foods to improve their
performance, it must be the same or even worse for jump racing horses. Just recently at the Oakbank
Easter Races another horse was put down during the Somerled Hurdle race, almost the length of three
kilometers with hurdles throughout. At the last hurdle, the five year old gelding Wheeler Fortune
suffered a horrendous leg injury and was euthanized. This is the 17th horse to die just in SA alone
since 2009, and 79 horses in Australia since 2006 from this cruel sport. Mr. Bignell, the local racing
minister has said it s cruel it s barbaric and doesn t belong in the 21st Century after the events at

How Public Opinion Changed the Course of the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War certainly left a distaste in the lives of many who have been affected by the war;
scholars have become increasingly interested in the interaction between war and public opinion. There
have been many scholarly works published on the Vietnam War, but the issue that will be analyzed
here is how public opinion changed the course of the war. The first article by Scott Gartner and Gary
Segura is titled, Race, Casualties, and Opinion in the Vietnam War, it examined how the diverse races
within America in combination with the atrocities in the war led to the formation of opinions that were
similar in one race but were different in another race. The second article by Paul Burstein and William
Freudenburg titled, The Impact of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last study that will be analyzed however, does not frame their research in that manner, instead, the
purpose of this study is to assess the impact of anti Vietnam war demonstrations in the U.S.A. on the
changes in the American public s views about the war. There is general consensus among Verba,
Brody and Schreiber that the polls did not serve as an adequate metric for determining whether the
war was truly out of touch with many. Schreiber referred to the demonstrations, noting that many
members of the public simply do not mentally join together This could lead to the formation of two
conclusions according to Schreiber; one being that demonstrations had no effect in altering public
opinion, and the other being that those demonstrations had great effect in communicating with the
public. The major point to be gleaned from this review is that there is no evidence that shows an effect
of anti Vietnam war demonstrations on reducing American public support for the war in Vietnam.
Schreiber then goes on to reiterate the point

procedure. An experiment was run to discover what types of carbohydrates are in certain products
Monosaccharides, disaccharides, or polysaccharide. The purpose for known carbohydrates is to know
how to determine which sugar is either a monosaccharide, disaccharide, or polysaccharide by
combining the mixture with either benedict or iodine solution. The purpose for unknown substances is
to test different products to determine which kind of carbohydrates they contain. The experimental
data shows that after testing everyday foods, after soaking the food in water and adding benedict
solution and iodine solution data shows how the product reacted. If there was a change after adding
benedict solution for 5 minutes in the water bath then the food was made up of monosaccharides. If
there was an immediate, obvious change in the iodine, then the product was made of polysaccharide.
If nothing changed with either than the product had disaccharides. If there were multiple changes then
the product had a good mix of monosaccharides and polysaccharides. The result of this lab were that
monosaccharide reacts with benedict. Polysaccharide react with iodine. Lastly disaccharide reacted
with neither. Monosaccharide react with benedict because it turns orange when heated. Polysaccharide

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Shipping Insurance
Shipping is an important sector of the Cyprus economy. Consequently, shipping finance is an essential
part of the Cyprus shipping industry. International and national financial institutions may shape the
development of the shipping industry in the island. Apart from banking and financial institutions,
another important dimension that should be taken into account is the provision of high quality legal
services.
Mortgages is an extensively popular tool for ensuring the repayment of a loan or any other financial
obligation of a shipping company toward its creditors. The mortgage is created over a ship in favour
of the creditors. Precisely the Cyprus Merchant Shipping Law No. 45/1963 (Registration of Ships,

Emotional Intelligence And Effective Leadership Essay
Emotional Intelligence and Effective Leadership The correlation between emotional intelligence (EI)
and leadership skills is gaining interest among scholars and business leaders. These professionals are
interested in determining how understanding and managing emotions of the self and others affects
leadership skills. Moreover, scientists and business professionals are interested in understanding the
elements of emotional intelligence. To this end, the concept of emotional intelligence integrates
different skills and abilities (Batool, 2013). This means there are different degrees of emotional
intelligence that influence leadership effectiveness. This paper will define and explore the elements of
emotional intelligence. In addition, the paper will explain why leaders need emotional intelligence to
manage today s workforce. The paper will conclude by recommending a strategy that an organization
can take to improve the social skills of its leaders.
Understanding Emotional Intelligence Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand human
emotion and act on it in a positive way. According to authors Robbins and Judge, emotional
intelligence is defined as the ability to detect and to manage emotional cues and information (Robbins
Judge, 2015, p. 140). Furthermore, emotional intelligence is a combination of introspection and
empathy. Introspection is the ability to understand one s own emotions; whereas, empathy is the
ability to understand others emotions.

The Effects Of Acid Rain On Plants
Abstract
Acid rain is a current issue due to the potential danger it could pose to plant life in the case that it is
harmful to plants. In this lab, it was determined whether or not acid water was harmful to red radish
plants, and in doing so, established the possible effects of acid rain on plants. It was hypothesized that
the acid would take all nutrients from the soil, therefore harming the plants. In this lab, three plants
two experimentals and one control were monitored after receiving either acid water or tap water. After
the experiment was conducted, it was plain to see that the plants were affected negatively by the acid
water, as the plants to receive the acid water immediately showed symptoms of nutrient deficiencies,
therefore proving the hypothesis. As such, acid rain was proved to be a danger to the environment, as
it destroys nutrients in the soil, therefore killing the plants. Without efforts to minimize acid rain, it
could potentially destroy the ecosystem.
Introduction
The purpose of this lab is to determine whether or not acidic water affects the growth of red radish
plants. Vinegar with a similar acidic pH as acid rain was used to water plants to simulate the effects of
acid rain which is a current problem.. The pH used was 3.5. In comparison, the tap water was a pH of
7, a neutral liquid. By simulating acid rain and observing how the vinegar affects the plant, it will be
possible to come to a conclusion about how acid rain may affect crops.

Salvation On Sand Mountain Analysis
Salvation on Sand Mountain The climax of Salvation on Sand Mountain, author Dennis Covington s
account of his own exploration into the bizarre and small world of snake handling, is when Covington
himself takes up the snakes for his first (and last) time. As he describes in great detail, the experience
of snake handling for Covington was similar to that of an awakening. Covington felt no fear, as the
snake became an extension of himself and the entire room faded to white. As Covington begins to
come back into himself, the sound, smell, and heat of the church all return, and he hands the snake
back to Carl. The most climatic scene in the work ends. As I read this scene, though, my own views
and understanding of religion began to complicate because I am accustomed to thinking of religious in
the context of the quiet of the Catholic Church and not the chaos of the snake handlers church. Thus, I
also became skeptical of Covington s experience due to his previous affinity for danger.
Being a religious person, as I read, I compared and contrasted my experiences in church with those of
the snake handlers. Though there are distinct differences to contrast, when thought about more deeply,
there is also a similarity between the two denominations. The glaring differences include the snake
handling versus no snakes; the loud, chaotic music versus quiet, serene music; and the shouting and
proclaiming God s name versus quiet prayer to God. However, the one sentence that Covington wrote

Growing Up For Some Children Could Be A Very Hard For Them.
Growing up for some children could be a very hard for them. These children don t have very many

Grinding these skills with require a lot of time just to get anywhere in most games, but grinding will

Similarities Between The French Revolution And The...
The Glorious Revolution took place in 1688 and the French Revolution in 1789. Some historians
believe these revolutions to be equivalent, but there are many aspects that make them different. The
main similarity was the effort made to limit the power of the monarchy. The Glorious Revolution and
French Revolution are more different then they are similar because of the events leading up to the
revolutions and the methods used to achieve the goal of limiting monarchial rule.
When comparing the Glorious Revolution and the French Revolution, it is important to consider the
events that led up to them. In England, King James was Catholic and appointed Catholics to important
positions and granted religious tolerance. His actions would have not been approved by Parliament
because before his accession to the throne, the Parliament had tried and failed to pass a law that
prevented a Catholic king from taking the throne. The creation of this law was due to the actions of his
brother, King Charles. The Parliament would not provide money for King Charles to run the kingdom,
thus he turned to France for help. In exchange for monetary funds, he agreed to offer support to France
against the Dutch and slowly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

named joint rulers of Parliament. As a result the Bill of Rights was created, which forbade royal
interference in the making or enforcement of laws. The goal of the Parliament was to limit the power
of the monarchy, which they achieved. This is the main characteristic that the French revolution and
the Glorious Revolution had in common; however, the methods used to achieve it were very

Essay about Impact of Sea Otters on Community Ecology
Introduction Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) are marine mammals capable of spending their entire lives in
water. Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They
are referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction
between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator
prey interactions on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence has a far
reaching influence on the marine food web by affecting the populations of sea urchins, which
indirectly affects the populations of kelp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, sea otters play an indirect, yet vital role in the preservation of kelp forests. This in turn
protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing
by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the
habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of
this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp
forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240).
Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region.
Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be
preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. Impact of sea otters on community ecology
The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have
shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes.
The declining kelp beds in California in the mid 1900 s propelled the Kelp Habitat Improvement
Project, whereby attempts were made to eliminate sea urchins that are

Explain What Is More Important To You And Quality Of Life
What is More Important to You, Quality of Life or Quantity of Life?

Comparison Of Gatsby And Trimalchio
A reader s understanding of the eponymous central character of F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby
cannot be considered complete until said character is compared to him whose name was the second
choice for the title of the novel: Petronius Trimalchio. Fitzgerald, by comparing Gatsby and
Trimalchio, critiques the excesses of high society in 1920s America, although there remains a
redeeming element in Gatsby not shared by the other bourgeoisie. Both Gatsby and Trimalchio
possess opulent wealth, and each one leverages said wealth in orgiastic parties and banquets the excess
of which shows both Petronius and Fitzgerald s disdain for the decadence of the plutocrats of their
respective eras. Gatsby has his food set up such that spiced baked hams crowded against salads of
harlequin designs and pastry pigs and turkeys bewitched to a dark gold and his alcohol consists of gins
and liquors and . . . cordials so long forgotten that most of his female guests were too young to know
one from another (Fitzgerald 44). Fitzgerald s description of such a display of wealth may seem

Change Progress and Prosperity
Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant
agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on change,
growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far from
everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and missing any
development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village. The commons
way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim Crace examined
the themes of change and fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life through the use of
symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident throughout the novel.
Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The author used symbols to
develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course of the novel, the most
significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills, sheep, wool, and the rock. In
the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started with two fires and ended in one.
What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). The element of fire represents a variety of
meanings such as: passion, hope, anger, devastation, and betrayal. In the beginning of the film, fire
represented betrayal and devastation. Two twists of smoke at a time of year too warm for cottage fires

The Globalization Of The World Economies Is A Direct...
Over the past few decades, particularly during the 2000s, financial markets around the globe have
become increasingly interconnected (Shmukler, 2004). This mounting integration of the world
economies is a direct result of globalization. Particularly, the globalization of financial markets is
characterized by substantial cross national flows of capital and the development of a large foreign
exchange market. Every day around the world, banks and stockbrokers transfer vast amounts of
money across country borders in the form of retirement funds, hedge funds, insurance, and similar
investments. For instance, a German national is able to purchase Facebook stock which is an
American based company that went public to venture capitalists around the ... Show more content on

According to Schmukler (2004), when financial institutions in one country are under duress,
borrowers have the option to raise capital by issuing shares in domestic or international capital
markets. The globalization of finance make the valuing and distribution of capital more efficient as
changes in financial risks are revealed quickly. Furthermore, borrowers and investors can obtain better
terms on their financing as they are able to tap a broader pool of capital from a more diverse and
competitive array of providers (Häusler, 2002). Corporations can afford tangible investments because
they have become substantially cheaper. As a result, these reduced rates improve economic activity
and growth, in addition to economic prosperity. Emerging enterprises and reputable banks can source
funds from a diverse group of providers, and build their businesses.
On the other hand, the pitfalls of financial globalization include: the instability of markets, distortion
of the allocation of capital, emerging companies and banks are vulnerable because of inadequate
regulation, and the contagion phenomenon. The globalization of financial markets are volatile and this
may threaten markets. When the globalization of financial market occurs, financial risk will become
actively traded among companies, investors, and other nations. Consequently, it becomes challenging
to pinpoint potential challenges and measure

Jap A Nation Of Ancient Traditions And Little Contact With...
Japan was a nation of ancient traditions and little contact with the Western world until the late 1800 s.
Japan began trade with America and other nations due to visits from Commodore Perry and American
warships in the late 1850 s. In the years that followed, Japan took big steps toward being a modern
industrial nation. Japan was a strong nation by the 1920 30 s but lacked its own natural resources.
Japan looked to nearby countries like Korea and China for the majority of their products however
Japan s plan for East Asia conflicted with American plans especially for China. The Open Door policy
created by Washington created a temporary buffer for China against control by any nation. After the
invasion of Manchuria in 1931 America watched ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Navy gunboat Panay by Japanese bi planes. On the morning of December 7, 1941 the Imperial
Japanese Navy attacked the United States naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The surprise attack,
intended as a preventative action to keep the Unites States from interfering with military actions that
Japan had planned for Southeast Asia, killed 2,403 Americans and led to the United States entry into
World War two. After four years of war the American soldiers and citizens were tired of war but the
Japanese military was refusing to surrender. American forces fire bombed Japanese cities as the
Japanese army guarded home islands from invasion. The leadership in Japan were presented with an
Allied demand for unconditional surrender but refused. On August 6th, 1945 an American plane
dropped the first of two atomic bombs on the city of Hiroshima. On August 9, the second atomic
bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. Five days after the second atomic bomb was dropped
Emperor Hirohito gave a radio address across the Empire announcing the surrender of Japan to the
allies. Hirohito never used the word surrender in his address, but his address was phrased in such a
way that implied surrender. Truman stated after he dropped both bombs that his decision was purely
military. The military decision Truman mentioned was implying that an amphibious landing would
have resulted in millions of American

The Crucible And The Scarlet Letter
The quote To belong is to understand the tacit codes of the people you live with from Michael
Ignatieff is explaining that with every group of people in society, there is a certain set of logical
unspoken rules that are not written rules. The understanding and following of these rules will allow
you to belong in most groups. Unspoken rules are what make a group who they are. The Crucible and
The Scarlet Letter both have perfect examples for the relationship between unspoken rules and
belonging. Also, these works take place in the 17th century around the same area. This creates almost
the same setting for both stories where the unspoken rules will be almost identical. The knowledge
and ability to follow the unspoken rules will lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was just something you did not do if you wanted to belong. John Proctor, whose wife was falsely
accused of witchcraft, was not taken seriously due to the fact that he did not attend church services
very often, and he also worked on certain Sunday s. The fact that he had broken these unspoken rules
made it harder for people to believe he was of God and telling the truth about his wife. These
examples help show the relationship between unspoken rules leading to belonging. The disregard for
unspoken rules cost lives at this time in history. In The Scarlet Letter, an adulterer named Hester was
shunned by the church and society. This book also has the church as the main group. The main
unspoken rule dealt with was adultery. Hester s husband had sent her ahead to America. She had an
affair with a priest and this was just something that you did not do, and it was a logical unspoken rule
that was broken, and, therefore, she was unable to really belong in this town for a very long time. The
girl was so shunned, they put an A on her clothes. This was the epitome of humiliation. At this time,
no one would associate with a girl like Hester. There was never a feel of belonging after that A was
placed on her clothes. Hester s actual husband who disguised himself as Roger Chillingworth to avoid
the humiliation. Dimmesdale was the man she had an affair with, and he was a minister.

Narrating The Nation Picasso And The Myth Of El Greco
Robert Lubar s essay Narrating the Nation: Picasso and the Myth of El Greco discusses the aftermath
of the bloody Spanish American war resulting in El Desastre del 98 in Spain which rocked the national
psyche into a period of cultural dissonance. Following the Disaster, the nation quickly found itself in
an agitated period of conflicting ideas and divisive discourses, specifically between Madrid and
Catalonia. Essentially, class divisions, regional differences, and this lack of national identity was what
gave way to the Myth of El Greco in fin de sïecle Spain. Lubar proposes that the myth connected
tradition and modernity whilst illustrating the middle class pursuit to construct hegemony for Catalan
cultural nationalism.
The Myth of El Greco was deployed in context with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What the history of Spanish art tells us is that the writers of history construct these cultural discourses
and emanate artistic rhetoric in order to challenge institutions and ideologies existent in their times;
where tradition serves to extol and preserve the comfortable customs in our lineage, modernity serves
to revolutionize and counter those very social constructs. If there is anything that has become clear to
me, it is that temporality and tradition, progressivism and modernity, all exist in an intertextual
phenomena within, in relation, and in conversation with each other. As Unanomo and Ganivet pointed
out in their writings, tradition simultaneously informs, and is formed by, the present . During the era of
regeneration, Castille rushed to codify culture within their targeted political positions which could be
considered as a push against the State due to political corruption, whereas Catalonia urged a reform of
economy and political culture, their position was precisely a call to the government to amend that
which they had

There Are Good Men And Great Men Essay
There are good men and great men. When it comes to choosing leaders, it often seems that the will of
the people often will back the man they perceive to not just be good, but great. Great in what though?
Whether the people have a choice of their leader or are forced into living under the command of their
leader, people will more times than not, more willingly summit themselves to the rule of a great man
rather than a man who is simply good or on the other end a tyrant. Cyrus the Great, as portrayed by
historian Xenophon in The Education of Cyrus shows perhaps one of the greatest leaders of the
ancient world, especially in the region of the modern day Middle East. Xenophon describes to his
reader the renowned and extremely loved character of Cyrus as both a conqueror and as an emperor.
In seeing Cyrus as a military ruler and as a ruler over a vast nation, Cyrus appears to be the perfect
man for modern day, Republican politics. Through the dissection of the character of Cyrus, laid out by
Xenophon, both as a conquer and as an emperor, it becomes evident that Cyrus, if alive today, would
prove to be the perfect leader of the people of the free world. As president, there are two major roles
that encompass all other roles that the person who takes the position must be able to balance:
commander in chief to the armed forces and leader of the people of the nation. These roles of the
president, parallel with the roles that Cyrus played as both conquer and emperor. In both these

Analysis Of The Tell Tale Heart
Oftentimes, the most truly despicable villains are marked with indifference towards their moral
reprehensibility. In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that corruption,
darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while In the Penal
Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and hope, The Tell
Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment. Distinction between
both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the action. Both stories are
vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka, however, puts forth some effort
in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the story within a deep , yet, small ,
sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75). Kafka also notes, apart from the
Officer and the Traveler there were present the Condemned...and The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley
is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd composition highlights the peculiarity
and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and reader. All that stood out in the valley, both
literally and figuratively, was what the Officer dubbed, the apparatus (Kafka 75). The Traveler is made
utterly removed from the setting he enters. The isolation of the Traveler standing before the machine
and three strangers perpetuates an atmosphere

Assassination Attemps on Adolf Hitler
Researchers have proven that Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazis, killed more than 6 million Jews in his
lifetime. The resistance knew that they couldn t let him continue this behavior and needed to take
action. There were an estimated 42 attempts on assassinating Hitler but a man by the name of Claus
Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg came up the closest. Cornel Claus was a highly respected man due to
him being in the General Army Office as chief of staff, and because he led an assassination attempt on
Hitler, killing four Nazi officers. Claus was a very brave man for not only trying to eliminate Hitler
but also for his war actions. Stauffenberg was born and raised in Upper Franconia, Germany
November 15, 1907 ( Claus Almanac). He grew up into a noble catholic family in Southern Germany.
Claus went to high school looking to be an architect but eventually pursued the military due to family
history. He made a good decision by going into the military because of his future actions. Claus was
deployed as an officer in a cavalry regiment in 1930. He eventually fought in Poland and France from
1939 1940 (Leaders). Soon afterward, he was assigned to the army General Staff and for one month
fought in North Africa at night against the Germans. During the war in North Africa Claus was
attacked while in an airplane and lost his right hand, two fingers of his left hand, and his left eye. He
must have had to change his daily routines due to the loss. After a month of recovery, upon his

Analysis Of The Poem I Hell And Back
Audie Murphy, one of the most well recognized and most decorated soldiers of the United States
Army of World War II, participated in two battles which earned him respect and awards. The first, his
efforts in taking Yellow Beach of southern France, earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. The
second, in a battle outside of Holtzwihr, France, earned him the Medal of Honor. Not only are these
events well documented for official records, they appear in his autobiography To Hell and Back,
ghostwritten by David Spec McClure with Murphy providing details, along with various sources
which include family scrapbooks, the accounts of soldiers who served with Murphy which they gave
for his medal citations, and a recently published History of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also of Company B.
Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across
before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for
Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine
gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on
the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor,
sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of
thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them.
However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the
narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and
Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender
with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun
which he had captured like a BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail
wasn t mentioned by Hollen, who

The Importance Of Pressure Ulcer
Previously known as Pressure Ulcer is now being called Pressure Injury (PI), according to the
National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (2016). The name was changed due to the different formation
and presentation of PI. What many appear as intact clear skin may actually be deeply damaged within
the tissues making it invisible to the naked eye. PI is acquired through ischemia the skin on bony
prominences of the body usually from pressure. Pressure to the area within 1 2 hours can cause PI,
thus the importance of repositioning our patients every 2 hours is emphasized nationwide. However,
other contributing factors also play a major role in the formation of PI, the problems of pressure,

The Lone Ranger And Tonto First Fight In Heaven Summary
In the stories that are told in The Lone Ranger and Tonto First fight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie the
author talks about the struggles and battels that Native American s are faced due to how society has
portrayed them to be which in return has in a lot of ways negatively impacted how they view
themselves and struggle with developing a sense of connection with loved ones, their environment
whether that be in school and combining different race and cultures together that once could never
happen back in the early and mid 1900 s, but is still looked down upon in some families still today. As
a native American himself Sherman Alexie really captures the pain that Native American s feel when
they are not looked as any other human being but as a color. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

No, Junior said. He took the test paper back and threw it in the garbage as he walked out the

made a collect call to Lynn. Hello Lynn, this is Junior. I left school. Junior you can t do that. You can t
go back to the reservation. You ll die out there. (Sherman Alexie, p.241). This part of the passage was
so powerful because it just showed the frustration that Junior felt that he will never feel fulfilled in life
because he lost Lynn, the white girl he ended up getting pregnant only to find out she didn t wanted
anything long term with him. On top of that, Lynn family was not accepting that their grandchild had
Native American blood line. This caused Junior and Lynn to distance themselves. Although Junior
wasn t able to be in his child life Lynn tried her best to make sure Sean their child knows his Native
American heritage by reading him books in Junior native tongue. I think it s interesting how even
today s society how people who are not a minority will invest time in learning a culture or teaching a
culture that is not their own but don t want to end repression. Junior felt like in losing Lynn he lost

Creative Response To The Hindu Creation Myth
Creative Response to the Hindu Creation Myth
How were we created? How was the universe created? What happens after we die? These questions
are some of the most important questions that we still have yet to answer. Religion helps explain their
perspective about these questions and give elaborate stories to share amongst generations. These
stories are collectively known as myths. I have decided to choose the Hindu creation myth because I
thought it has a unique response to most of these questions compared to other religions. I chose to
make a sculpture because I thought it would be the most elaborate and picturesque way to explain this
complex myth. In this response, I will summarise the Hindu creation myth into a paragraph, then

A large serpent drifted across this ocean with Lord Vishnu sleeping within its endless coils. From
within the ocean, a sound began to quiver and began to fill all the empty space with throbbing energy
called Om . As the night drifted away, Vishnu awoke at the break of dawn and a lotus flower grew
from his navel. In the centre lied Vishnu s servant, Brahma. Vishnu commanded Brahma to create the
world. Brahma lifted his arms and calmly created the ocean and wind. He then splits his lotus flower
into three segments. One third was stretched to create the Heavens, the other two were formed into the
Earth and Sky. The Earth was then given grass, plants, flowers and trees and gave them a sense of
feeling. Shortly afterward, he created animals, fish, insects and birds. Brahma gave them the power to
see, hear and move. However, once the day has come, Lord Shiva will perform his sacred dance of
destruction and end all life and destroy absolutely everything except for Brahma. After this, Lord
Vishnu shall call upon Brahma to create the world again. This repeats itself over and over again. We

  • 2. Present Day Chaucer The Crazy Adventure The Discussion of Present Day Chaucer Chaucer is a famous author from the 1300 s, he wrote many stories such as The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer shows multiple people who we might look up to for all the wrong reasons. He also shows how much stress can be put on one person to do everything. Sometimes it s hard to be the perfect person that everyone wants but we have to do it anyways. Chaucer seems to be the person looking for the bad in everyone and trying to help them fix it. Obviously, if Chaucer was writing the Canterbury Tales now a days I think he would have three different kinds of characters telling a story. For instance, I can see him adding a football player specifically one like Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall is a Denver Broncos Linebacker who kneeled down during the National Anthem like his fellow opponent Colin Kaepernick. I think he would pick a football player because people are always watching the Superbowl as a family on holidays like Thanksgiving. When kids grow up watching these athletes play they can believe they are everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think Chaucer would have her in his story because Hillary is someone who is being voted to be our next president who has already lied about so many things and gotten away with it. I think Chaucer would find this as a fault in the government and would add her in to make fun at her for being so dishonest. He would also make fun of her followers because they are so willing to be lied to about everything just because they want a girl president. Although I disagree wholeheartedly because I feel as though we shouldn t elect someone due to their race and or sexuality. We should elect them because they are going to do what s right or this country and the people in it. Hillary would be the person in a story that tells nothing but lies too make it so people hear what they want to hear even though she won t follow through with any of ... • 5. Hitler s And The Nazi Party Hitler s henchmen were those inside the Richstag and other important segments of the German government. These include Joseph Goebbels, Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Heinrich Himmler, Ernst Rohm, Reinhard Heydrich. It is debated if they escaped justice or not. Joseph Goebbels was born in 1897 and became a doctor in philosophy in 1920. Due to his hatred of the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, he joined the Nazi party near the end of 1924 to help build support for the party in Berlin. In 1923 he was given full control of the Nazi s propaganda machine. Goebbels was elected into the Reichstag in 1928 and, at 1933, was given the role as the Minister of Enlightenment and Propaganda , which he worked as until 1945. His skill at the role gave him the nickname as the Poison Dwarf . At the near end of the Second World War when Berlin was besieged by the Russians during April to May 1945, Joseph stayed with Hitler in his bunker. Which he was given Hitler s watch as a token of appreciation for being with him to the very end. On May 1st, Goebbels poisoned his six children then shot his wife and then himself. Hermann Goering was born in 1893 and found popularity in World War One as a fighter ace. Winning many awards for bravery and was the last commander of the infamous Richthofen Fighter Squadron. He joined the Nazi Party in October 1922 and wounded in the Munich Putsch. In 1928, Goering got elected to the Reichstag before he got back from Sweden. During 1932, he was ... • 6. Argumentative Essay On Jump Racing The issue that has been discussed recently is horse jump racing, which is where the horses race across the track jumping brush fences and sometimes ditches. This is an issue in sport because many horses are having horrific falls and dying from participating in the event, which many people do not understand. Some people think it is good for the community and some people disagree. The argument for jump racing to continue is that many people think that horses that have died from jump racing are purely freak accidents, that this could happen with any animal in any sport. The people involved and that support the sport suggest that they know the risk, they make sure organisations such as the RSPCA are involved to oversee the sport and that horses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistics over many years have shown that jumps races are even more dangerous and harmful for horses, with up to 20 times more fatalities than flat races (Horse Racing, 2017). Jump racing is also a lot more demanding then flat races as they are longer, they also jump and run approximately the same speed as flat races and the jockeys are required to be heavier. Many people have even bigger issues with the training and well being of these horses. If normal race horses have bleeding in the lungs, stuck in stalls for large periods of time, being over worked and given unnatural foods to improve their performance, it must be the same or even worse for jump racing horses. Just recently at the Oakbank Easter Races another horse was put down during the Somerled Hurdle race, almost the length of three kilometers with hurdles throughout. At the last hurdle, the five year old gelding Wheeler Fortune suffered a horrendous leg injury and was euthanized. This is the 17th horse to die just in SA alone since 2009, and 79 horses in Australia since 2006 from this cruel sport. Mr. Bignell, the local racing minister has said it s cruel it s barbaric and doesn t belong in the 21st Century after the events at Oakbank. He wants TSA to act on and ban the ... • 7. How Public Opinion Changed the Course of the Vietnam War The Vietnam War certainly left a distaste in the lives of many who have been affected by the war; scholars have become increasingly interested in the interaction between war and public opinion. There have been many scholarly works published on the Vietnam War, but the issue that will be analyzed here is how public opinion changed the course of the war. The first article by Scott Gartner and Gary Segura is titled, Race, Casualties, and Opinion in the Vietnam War, it examined how the diverse races within America in combination with the atrocities in the war led to the formation of opinions that were similar in one race but were different in another race. The second article by Paul Burstein and William Freudenburg titled, The Impact of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last study that will be analyzed however, does not frame their research in that manner, instead, the purpose of this study is to assess the impact of anti Vietnam war demonstrations in the U.S.A. on the changes in the American public s views about the war. There is general consensus among Verba, Brody and Schreiber that the polls did not serve as an adequate metric for determining whether the war was truly out of touch with many. Schreiber referred to the demonstrations, noting that many members of the public simply do not mentally join together This could lead to the formation of two conclusions according to Schreiber; one being that demonstrations had no effect in altering public opinion, and the other being that those demonstrations had great effect in communicating with the public. The major point to be gleaned from this review is that there is no evidence that shows an effect of anti Vietnam war demonstrations on reducing American public support for the war in Vietnam. Schreiber then goes on to reiterate the point ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The purpose for known carbohydrates is to know how to determine which sugar is either a monosaccharide, disaccharide, or polysaccharide by combining the mixture with either benedict or iodine solution. The purpose for unknown substances is to test different products to determine which kind of carbohydrates they contain. The experimental data shows that after testing everyday foods, after soaking the food in water and adding benedict solution and iodine solution data shows how the product reacted. If there was a change after adding benedict solution for 5 minutes in the water bath then the food was made up of monosaccharides. If there was an immediate, obvious change in the iodine, then the product was made of polysaccharide. If nothing changed with either than the product had disaccharides. If there were multiple changes then the product had a good mix of monosaccharides and polysaccharides. The result of this lab were that monosaccharide reacts with benedict. • 11. The Effects Of Acid Rain On Plants Abstract Acid rain is a current issue due to the potential danger it could pose to plant life in the case that it is harmful to plants. In this lab, it was determined whether or not acid water was harmful to red radish plants, and in doing so, established the possible effects of acid rain on plants. It was hypothesized that the acid would take all nutrients from the soil, therefore harming the plants. In this lab, three plants two experimentals and one control were monitored after receiving either acid water or tap water. After the experiment was conducted, it was plain to see that the plants were affected negatively by the acid water, as the plants to receive the acid water immediately showed symptoms of nutrient deficiencies, therefore proving the hypothesis. As such, acid rain was proved to be a danger to the environment, as it destroys nutrients in the soil, therefore killing the plants. Without efforts to minimize acid rain, it could potentially destroy the ecosystem. Introduction The purpose of this lab is to determine whether or not acidic water affects the growth of red radish plants. Vinegar with a similar acidic pH as acid rain was used to water plants to simulate the effects of acid rain which is a current problem.. The pH used was 3.5. In comparison, the tap water was a pH of 7, a neutral liquid. By simulating acid rain and observing how the vinegar affects the plant, it will be possible to come to a conclusion about how acid rain may affect crops. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Salvation On Sand Mountain Analysis Salvation on Sand Mountain The climax of Salvation on Sand Mountain, author Dennis Covington s account of his own exploration into the bizarre and small world of snake handling, is when Covington himself takes up the snakes for his first (and last) time. As he describes in great detail, the experience of snake handling for Covington was similar to that of an awakening. Covington felt no fear, as the snake became an extension of himself and the entire room faded to white. As Covington begins to come back into himself, the sound, smell, and heat of the church all return, and he hands the snake back to Carl. The most climatic scene in the work ends. As I read this scene, though, my own views and understanding of religion began to complicate because I am accustomed to thinking of religious in the context of the quiet of the Catholic Church and not the chaos of the snake handlers church. Thus, I also became skeptical of Covington s experience due to his previous affinity for danger. Being a religious person, as I read, I compared and contrasted my experiences in church with those of the snake handlers. Though there are distinct differences to contrast, when thought about more deeply, there is also a similarity between the two denominations. The glaring differences include the snake handling versus no snakes; the loud, chaotic music versus quiet, serene music; and the shouting and proclaiming God s name versus quiet prayer to God. However, the one sentence that Covington wrote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some historians believe these revolutions to be equivalent, but there are many aspects that make them different. The main similarity was the effort made to limit the power of the monarchy. The Glorious Revolution and French Revolution are more different then they are similar because of the events leading up to the revolutions and the methods used to achieve the goal of limiting monarchial rule. When comparing the Glorious Revolution and the French Revolution, it is important to consider the events that led up to them. In England, King James was Catholic and appointed Catholics to important positions and granted religious tolerance. His actions would have not been approved by Parliament because before his accession to the throne, the Parliament had tried and failed to pass a law that prevented a Catholic king from taking the throne. The creation of this law was due to the actions of his brother, King Charles. The Parliament would not provide money for King Charles to run the kingdom, thus he turned to France for help. Being carnivorous in nature, they feed on sea urchins, crabs, fishes, mussels and clams. They are referred to as keystone species due to their profound impact on marine ecology. The interaction between sea otters, sea urchins and kelp forests has been studied as a model for the impact of predator prey interactions on community ecology. Sea otters are keystone predators, whose presence has a far reaching influence on the marine food web by affecting the populations of sea urchins, which indirectly affects the populations of kelp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, sea otters play an indirect, yet vital role in the preservation of kelp forests. This in turn protects kelp forests and other macroalgae, which would have otherwise been depleted due to grazing by sea urchins. Where sea otters abound so do lush kelp forests, and where sea otters are absent the habitat is typically deforested by hyperabundant sea urchins (Soulé et al 1240). The significance of this interaction can be wholly surmised only when the importance of kelp forests is understood. Kelp forests are a source of food and habitat for dozens of other coastal species (Soulé et al 1240). Innumerable coastal marine organisms thrive on kelp forests, enhancing biodiversity of the region. Therefore, to maintain the diversity and richness of coastal marine ecology, sea otters should be preserved, who indirectly lead to the preservation of kelps. Impact of sea otters on community ecology The presence or absence of sea otters influences marine ecology at the community level. Studies have shown that kelp forests enhance the underwater environment, providing a suitable habitat for fishes. • 18. Change Progress and Prosperity Change Progress and Prosperity The Harvest took place in a small, secluded, and self reliant agricultural community in England, before the industrial revolution. The novel was based on change, growth, progress and prosperity. The village, as the narrator Walter Thirsk stated was, far from everywhere (Crace, 3) and isolated from the world. The village was also fragmented and missing any development of identity. The commons were the people living in the unnamed village. The commons way of life changed from harvesting and plowing to extracting wool for clothing. Jim Crace examined the themes of change and fragmentation by the loss of identity and way of life through the use of symbols, characters, and imagery. In the Harvest, symbolism was evident throughout the novel. Symbols are commonly used to add richness and depth to the story. The author used symbols to develop the main themes of change and fragmentation. During the course of the novel, the most significant symbols included: fire, crops, ghost, unfinished cross, quills, sheep, wool, and the rock. In the novel, fire was the most impactful symbol. The novel started with two fires and ended in one. What starts with fire will end with fire (Crace, 198). In the Penal Colony and The Tell Tale Heart both elucidate the idea that corruption, darkness, and immorality alike are unperceivable to the one afflicted. However, while In the Penal Colony suggests that this blind nature is a result of dutiful honor, responsibility, and hope, The Tell Tale Heart alternatively submits that it is a result of the possibility of fulfillment. Distinction between both arguments is found in the way setting and atmosphere background the action. Both stories are vague in describing the general location and time of the action. Kafka, however, puts forth some effort in detailing the immediate setting in the scene. He establishes the story within a deep , yet, small , sandy valley, closed in on all sides by barren slopes (Kafka 75). Kafka also notes, apart from the Officer and the Traveler there were present the Condemned...and The Soldier... (Kafka 75). The valley is oxymoronically both deep and small . The uneven and odd composition highlights the peculiarity and alien quality the colony exudes to the Traveler and reader. Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms .
