29). Lies My Teacher Told Me is a non fiction book written by author, American sociologist, and
historian, James W. Loewen. The popular belief is that schools buy the textbook that best fits the
curriculum, and by following these textbooks, students are learning to the best of their ability.
However, Loewen challenges this belief by providing evidence from eighteen different American
history textbooks. He believes that people in history should not be depicted as heroes when they
simply are not. To continue, Loewen states that students find history to be so boring since they can not
relate to it or the people in it. On page 354, he even concludes his book by stating, Students will start
finding history interesting when their teachers and textbook stop lying to them. There are three great

The Bushwick Collective is the best collective in NYC. It is an experience once you walk out the train

induced disability, and the mental/physical barriers he faced within recovery, and acceptance. Sacks
broke down this process into seven steps: the mountain, becoming a patient, limbo, quickening,
Solvitur Ambulando, convalescence, and understanding. Along with the physical and mental barriers
he faced, there were many macro/micro contextual level issues throughout the book. These issues
included problems with his doctors, with his self identification, and body ego. Sacks grew up as an
athletic individual, his health being a main priority throughout his life. He talks about how he grew up
valuing his physical health more than anything, appreciating what hid body could do and using it to its
fullest advantage. Within his physical training, he trained to climb a mountain called Hardanger Fjord.
While climbing this mountain he expressed how his body was an instrument in which he played and

addressed in the debate that is written about in the book Science and Religion, Are they Compatible,
by Daniel C. Dennett and Alvin Plantinga. Alvin Plantinga thoroughly debates the topic by covering
the compatibility of Christianity and science. He continues his argument by stating the issue of

At the start of the project, I was a bit nervous and hesitant about how I would go about with the
project, considering I had no video editing/creating experience. I knew that the digital story project
was important and a great opportunity to reach out to others in the community. It was great be a part of

First, I would make sure that the tape recorder worked properly and that I knew what all the buttons
were. Since it was my first time using a tape recorder, I know I shouldn t blame myself. Secondly, I
would make sure to create a list of questions that was more organized and similar to create a story.
Thirdly, I would make sure that Monica had all the knowledge and resources to communicate with us
and the ability to use her phone/email. This is because we learned that Monica didn t have a lot of
