Compare And Contrast Nike And Artemis
Never losing and never missing a shot is a day to day life of Nike Artemis. Nike being the goddess of
victory never lost. Artemis on the other hand was a very different goddess she hated being compared
to, and very short tempered. Here are their lives, family, and problems. Nike was a winged goddess
brought forth to Zeus by her mother Styx the goddess of the underworld river to help in the God and
Titan war. Styx also brought Nike s brothers and sisters, Nike s first sister Zelos the goddess of rivalry,
Nike s older brother Kratos the god of strength, and power, Nike s other sister Bia the goddess of
power. These were the three brothers and sisters of Nike (Atsma 1). Artemis was a Greek goddess, The
Romans called her Diana she was the Goddess of the Hunt. Artemis had a brother he was actually

The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the
characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and
treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring
the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to
live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s
Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories
with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must
somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the
difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time
cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of
pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories
cannot be forgotten.
In the first section I will discuss the need to remember and to tell , and ... Show more content on

Essay On Epic Hero
Moana: Not Your Average Epic Hero What comes to your mind when you think of an epic hero?
When I think of an epic hero, I think of a superhero. The epic hero I m writing about today is different
from Superman or The Flash, a more modern epic hero. The epic hero I am writing about is a woman
of color. Not only that but a teenager. She is someone who multiple people around the world can see
themselves as. One thing all epic heroes do have in common is a story, and her is Moana s. Te Fiti, an
island goddess, created all life and became an island after falling asleep. Her heart, a small pounamu
stone, was sought after by the monstrous forces of the sea until it was stolen by the demigod Maui. As
a toddler, Moana discovers the heart as she is collecting shells near the ocean. After her chieftain
father, Tui, orders her to return to the village, she never sees it until much later. As Moana grows up,
she has the responsibility of becoming the next chief of the island. Due to her friendship with her
grandmother, Gramma Tala, she keeps her dream of leaving the island alive. Later, Gramma Tala is
seen ill and on her deathbed. With her dying breath, she tells Moana to go save her people and gives
her the necklace used to carry the heart. Moana ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Movie The Manchurian Candidate
On the surface, the movie The Manchurian Candidate presents a parallel universe inspired by the
paranoid right wing illusions of people who believed in the Red Scare. The film itself crosses over
into several different dramas: war film, political satire, paranoid science fiction, black comedy,
suspenseful intrigue, and horror. The notion that the Russian and Chinese Communists were working
together to take over the U.S. by infiltrating them was a common idea. Because of the communist
brainwashing when captured, Raymond Shaw s lack of agency allows him to be controlled by outside
influences in order to infiltrate the United States. The paranoia and fear of losing control to the
communists during the Red Scare is paralleled in the film to a fear of the power that women had over
men. The relationship that Raymond Shaw has with the women in his life is in complete opposition of
the normal relationships men had with women during the Cold War. This opposition is analogous
throughout the entire movie, especially in the dream sequence and in relation to Eleanor Shaw.
Distorted representations of both men and women, which are not of the customary gender roles during
this time, contribute to the formation of a pubic spectacle.
The relationship between Eleanor and Raymond Shaw is not detailed in the movie, however her
explicit control over him is evident. The Jocasta complex presented in the novel creates a conflict for
the remainder of Raymond s life. His mother controls Raymond

Embalming In American Culture
The term embalming is a familiar one in today s society; however, many people are unaware of what
happens during its process. Depending upon the family s wishes, a body may or may not be
embalmed. Culture can also play a part in making that decision. Embalming is a simple process with
rich history that does wonders for a body and families.
The history of embalming goes all the way back to the Civil War. Those who were left needed an
efficient way to take care of the fallen bodies. Dr. Thomas Holmes was the first person to practice the
French s embalming techniques in America. Since families wanted to bring their loved ones bodies
home, this preservation tactic proved worthy. Eventually, many soldiers pre paid to be embalmed in
the course ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some families want to see their loved one for the last time as if they are sleeping. Embalming makes
this possible. The chemicals give the skin a natural color, along with makeup and other fixings
(Godfrey). For many families, this last memory of their loved one is very important (Embalming).
In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to
embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of
their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a
body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements,
embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray).
Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and
external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small
incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured
as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts.
The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied.
The hair styling is left up to the cosmetologist in most cases (The Embalming

The Drug Of Choice Today
MDMA 3, 4 methylenedioxy N methylamphetamine is the most popular drug of choice today and is
taken in pill form which is supposed to be composed of the pure chemical. Ecstasy is more altered
with additives like amphetamine, caffeine and others. In its pure form it effects the neurotransmitters
in the brain which control things like reflexes, emotion and memory. Especially serotonin like in
sleep, memory learning and mood which it destroys much of the serotonin when on MDMA, and this
leaves the brain with less to get back to a normal state giving depression and feelings of extra tired.

What Is a Professional Learning Community
What is a Professional Learning Community?
NaKishia D. Glenn
Gardner Webb University
Abstract
Throughout this paper you will be able to gain more knowledge on what a Professional Learning
Community (PLC) is. I will explore two different areas: general characteristics of PLCs and the big
ideas that are associated with them. I will refer to different types of students throughout this paper.
When I mention high achievers I will be referring to those are students whose test scores put them in
the top twenty five percent nationwide amongst their peers; when I mention low achievers I am
speaking of those students that perform lower than the median of their peers. PLC refers to

2. Create high performing teams. PLCs are built on a collaborative culture, where school leaders and
teachers work together to achieve their collective purpose of learning for all.
Within this big idea we, as teachers, develop norms, SMART goals and procedures for which the PLC
is to be run. By having a specific process that is followed during meeting times it keeps the focus of
the group on the learning of the child. When we explore the structure and process of an effective PLC
we one or more of the five characteristics: System Thinking, Personal Mastery, Team Learning,
Challenging Mental Needs, and Shared Vision. (Pearson Custom: Education, Executive Leadership in
the 21st Century MELS 601 p.25) Of these characteristics the most important one for creating high
performing teams is Team Learning. As I stated earlier, if we learn as a team then we will be more apt
to see growth and development in our students because we will then be on the same thinking path of
student achievement. 3. Assess effectiveness of all students learning at high levels based on results.
PLCs judge their effectiveness on outcomes related to the holistic development of their students.
Within PLCs the professional teaching team should be using relevant data as a means to improve what
is happening inside the classroom. If the team is indeed using the data that is

Feminism And The Feminist Movement Essay
The feminist movement came to fruition during the early 20th century. Over all, the push for women s
suffrage and rights was strong, but further enhanced by leaders like Alice Paul and Jane Addams. The
idea of equal rights for all was further scrutinized and contested after civil rights were granted to
former slaves. Women began to push for similar equality as illustrated through the feminist movement.
The feminist movement became very large and sprouted subsections, one being a subsection of
feminism known as social feminism. This branch of feminism was more interested in social rights and
used suffrage as a tool to obtain these rights. The question that arises from this idea of a more specific
section of feminism becomes: does social feminism qualify as feminism in its truest form? Does social
feminism embody the same ideas and morals of the feminist movement? In general, does social
feminism count as feminism? Some people question the validity of this brand of feminism. I believe
this section of feminism qualifies as feminism nonetheless. To examine this, we must first accurately
define social feminism and feminism as a whole, before we can actively compare them.
First, let us address the meaning of feminism as the overarching category, in which several specific
divisions of feminism fall. Feminism is an extremely simple concept to grasp, if one believes in equal
political, economic and social rights for men and women, then they can be classified as a

There is also growing integration across products. In particular, wine marketers are being bought up

The wine business is no longer a production driven business as it has been traditionally; it s fast

Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By...
The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a
rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will
reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets,
the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey
through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is
not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an
interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza
rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in
one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern
until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a
few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of
depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme.
Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are
familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a
metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the

In 2015, women made ninety cents for every dollar that their male peers earned. The gender wage gap
has been a problem for centuries. In the 1700s, But since the 1980s, it hasn t shifted much (Brown and

The polycystic kidney disease is a genetic disease: the kidney tissue is replaced by various cysts. In
nephrology it is usual to distinguish between the two forms of the disease, one of them, in particular,

Difference Between New England And Chesapeake Colonies
During the Ages of Exploration, various European nations, such as Spain, French and England,
created colonies in the newly discovered America. England, in particular, created settlements near the
East coast of North America. The reason behind the rapid expansion and colonization was the idea of
mercantilism. Mercantilism is when the mother country, England, exports more than it imports. The
colonies were responsible for bringing the raw materials to the mother country, where it was turned
into finished goods and then be exported. Mercantilism was believed to be a zero sum game, which
meant that if one country had something, other countries could not take it. Since Spain already had
various settlements in the New World, England wanted to compete with them and gain land to become
more economically advanced. Two particular regions of settlement for the English colonies were the
Chesapeake region and New England. The Chesapeake region include present day Virginia, Maryland,
and Pennsylvania. The New England region included Massachusetts Bay Colony, Plymouth, Rhode
Island, and Connecticut. Although they were both English colonies, they had developed distinct
societies. People left England to go to the New World for different reasons. Whether it was for
religious or for political reasons, it had caused the two regions of settlement to differ from each other
in the colonies social, political, religious, and economic aspects. The reasons for founding colonies in

The Case Texas V. Johnson
Angel Deng Ms. Crouse US Government Period 6 Texas v. Johnson The case Texas v. Johnson
happened in 1984, Gregory Lee Johnson burned an American flag to protest President Ronald Reagan
in front of the convention center in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Revolutionary Communist
Youth Brigade (Texas v. Johnson in 1989: Summary, Decision Significance, Stephen Benz). During
the 1984 Republican National Convention, he participated in a political demonstration. The
demonstrators were protesting the policies of the Reagan Administration. While they were marching
through the streets, another demonstrator handed Johnson an American flag. Johnson set the flag on
fire when they reached Dallas City Hall, where the Convention was held. ... Show more content on

Johnson, Oyez.org). The majority opinion was written by Justice William J. Brenna. It indicated that
the Court agreed with Johnson that flag burning constitutes a form of symbolic speech that is
protected by the First Amendment. And the Court disagreed with Texas argument that Johnson s action
breaches of the peace. What s more, it emphasized that the state may not discriminate upon different
view point. Justice John Paul Steven also wrote a dissenting opinion, arguing the national flag is a
valuable asset, and Johnson s action belittled the value of this important national symbol (Texas v.
Johnson, LII / Legal Information Institute). This case did not change or add any amendments, but the
first amendment played a big role in it. The First Amendment guarantees the rights of free expression
and action that are fundamental to democratic government, These rights include freedom of assembly,
freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech (First Amendment, Dictionary.com).
It protects people s freedom of speech, and emphasize the right of symbolic speech as well, This case
remains relevant today, and it is still a controversial issue. Because under the first amendment, people
have the freedom of speech. The Court supports the flag burning is the same as other legal forms of
symbolic speech, such as sit ins and wearing armbands. After this case, several laws and statutes had
been brought up to make desecrating the flag a federal crime; but

Essentials Of Progression
The Essentials of Progression Modern society is affected by technology in various ways as it
dominates and prevails in our everyday lives. Technology has had a greater impact on humankind
progression than anything we ve seen in mankind s existence. It has had both positive and negative
effects on humanity. With new innovations emerging everyday, it is certain that technology
advancements will continue to effect our future generations drastically. Some people believe
technology impedes society s progression by causing sedentary or laziness, isolation, concentration
problems, and eliminates certain jobs that were once done by humans. These negative effects may be
true, but according to Kevin Kelly s Better than Human: Why Robots Will and Must Take ... Show

Without technology there would be no economical growth, limited jobs, increased income inequality,
and decreased life expectancy. There is no way to totally eliminate the negative effects of technology,
but there are ways to improve our digital tools in order to help prevent further negative effects from
being created. We will never know what will affect us in the future, or which jobs will be taken over
by technological advancements, nor which jobs will be introduced to us until that time comes. The
future may be intimidating to some, but I believe the future holds incredible developments and
accomplishments that no human has ever dreamed

Iago as the Representation of Evil in Shakespeare s Othello
Iago as the Representation of Evil in Othello
In Shakespeare s, Othello, the reader is presented the classic battle between the deceitful forces of evil
and the innocence of good. It is these forces of evil that ultimately lead to the breakdown of Othello, a
noble Venetian moor, well known by the people of Venice as an honorable soldier and a worthy leader.
Othello s breakdown results in the murder of his wife Desdemona. Desdemona is representative of the
good in nature. Good can be defined as forgiving, honest, innocent and unsuspecting. The evil
contained within Othello is by no means magical or mythical yet is represented by the character Iago.
Iago is cunning, untrustworthy, selfish, and plotting. He uses these traits to his ... Show more content

It is this jealousy and the ignorance of Othello that lead to the downfall of Desdemona, the one truly
good natured character in the play.
As the play opens we are immediately introduced to the hostility of Iago against Othello. Iago has
been appointed the position of servant to Othello instead of the more prestigious position of lieutenant.
Michael Cassio has been appointed this position. Iago feels betrayed because he considers him self
more qualified than Cassio to serve as lieutenant. Iago then foreshadows his plans for Othello to
Roderigo, O, sir, content you. / I follow him to serve my turn upon him (Act I, Scene I) . Iago already
realizes that Othello thinks about him as an honest man. Roderigo is used by Iago as an apprentice and
someone to do his dirty work. Roderigo is naively unsuspecting. As the play shifts from Venice to
Cyprus there is an interesting contrast. Venice, a respectful and honorable town is overshadowed by
the war torn villages of Cyprus. It could be said that Venice represents good or specifically
Desdemona and that Cyprus represents evil in Iago. Desdemona has been taken from her peacefulness
and brought onto the grounds of evil. Iago commits his largest acts of deceit in Cyprus, fittingly
considering the atmosphere. Ironically, the Venetians feel the Turks are their only enemy while in fact
Iago is in hindsight the one man who destroys their stable state. Act II Scene III shows

Lydia Hearst Body Image
In today s generation, it s normal to see a mother breast feeding her child in public. Lydia Hearst did
an excellent job of taking an image and turning it into something magnificent. Not only did she create
equinox to show women to be comfortable with who they are. This image was published Jan. 4, 2016
on an ad on Instagram by Lydia Hearst, great granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst. For first
time viewers, they would find an image like this disturbing. Due to the nudity being shown, but I who
have viewed it many times already think it s a work of art. The purpose of this image, is for women to
be confident in their skin, breastfeeding should be accepted to do in public and any woman has the
right to be feeding her child public or not. Also, I believe what this image is ... Show more content on

By looking at this picture with the mind of a critique we know that she has a strong will against the
subject itself. I believe Hearst created such a picture to show women to be confident in their own skin,
to not let others personal thoughts get to you. The angel itself is front facing, for the viewers to get a
clear picture of what may be going on through the whole picture. Also, the texture itself, as well as
what s going on in the background. Behind we can clearly see the male s reaction to the women
breastfeeding. Fortunately, they don t mind, like others who do. The artist took a wide distance shot to
show everything that was happening in this picture including the male s facial expressions. But to also
show that they were in public, changing the viewer s perspective of this photograph. Another
important factor of this picture can be the lighting. The lighting in this photograph, can be very dull
but yet very mysterious. Most of the light is focused on the lady whose breastfeeding her kids. Yet, we
can still the background. Everything down to the lighting and clothing can change our form of

Cold Sassy Tree By Rucker Blakeslee
Cold Sassy Tree
Through time, people have made choices that have not been considered socially acceptable by their
peers. From one choice, these peers will shun, bully and ridicule. In Cold Sassy Tree, Rucker
Blakeslee tested the society s limits when he remarried to a young woman, Miss Love Simpson,
shortly after the death of his first wife. The town found it repulsive that a man would not wait a couple
years, much less a couple months before even thinking about remarrying. Miss Love and Rucker made
their choice, although everyone in town was critical of the choice they made. The young couple was
judged by Cold Sassy due to the choice they made was not a choice anyone else in town would
consider. Why is it socially unacceptable to compose an unpopular decision? The Gospel of Mark tells
the story of Jesus visiting his hometown. He visited a synagogue and begins to teach the people
around him, but the people were offended. People questioned him as only the carpenter, the son of
Mary. The implied meaning is that he was worthless teaching, and he could only heal a few people.
Jesus was the son of God and many skeptical people in his time did not believe it. Jesus went through
many different times of not being socially accepted, like how Rucker was socially rejected for
remarrying. In their times, peers made choices of what others would think or would not accept what
they did not know. It was considered unacceptable to make these decisions for the reason that

The Identity Of The National Community
Migrants, despite their separate collection of lifestyles, have a common need to negotiate their
inclusion into the national community that dissimilar to that of their ethnic heritage. Strategic
representation is needed to collaborate their identities as migrants with their claims to inclusion. Of
course, some migrant children born in their parents host country may find themselves at odds with the
previous generations methods, and struggle to make themselves out as people who grow alongside the
national community. Ultimately, it is a matter of what migrants and their children intend for
themselves in terms of character and identity that enables them to form a deliberated relationship with
the neighboring locals. There are always distinctive ways of going about cultivating the migrants
status as outsiders, or people who do not belong amongst the locals, whether or not they realize it,
Migrants collaborate their individual and collective representations of belonging accordingly with
what they intend for themselves to be while taking into account the isolating perceptions of the present
national community.
Before anything else, it is vital to understand that the individual and collective representations of
belonging go beyond that of simple political adaption. Rather, should the migrants find themselves
developing a need to represent their communities, then it is clear that their new environment pressures
reexaminations and, perhaps, changes of personal identities. If

Bill Monroe Research Papers
William Smith Monroe, also known as Bill Monroe, was born in the mountains of Kentucky by a
small farm on September 13, 1911. J.B. Monroe, the father of Bill, decided to name his son after his
two brothers. Bill Monroe was most famous for creating a new style of American country folk music
style called Blue Grass . The name originated from his popular band, Blue Grass Boys , which started
in 1938. Despite people believing that his music was considered country, Bill Monroe is titled as The
Father of Blue Grass . He was also known for popularizing the Mandolin instrument. Bill Monroe
played the Mandolin because his older brothers, Charlie and Birch, would not allow him to play the
fiddle or guitar. His first instrument was a little Neapolitan style mandolin and he would never touch
another instrument for the rest of his career. Bill Monroe started his music career with his older
brothers and their band was called The Monroe Brothers . However, their chemistry as a band started
to fall. According to Richard D. Smith, By 1938, some fans of the Monroe Brothers noticed they were
beginning to arrive at shows separately and not speaking to each other, ignoring each other to the point
where they almost seemed facing in different directions onstage (Smith, pg. 44). The problem with the

Statement of Purpose to Become a Pediatrcian or an...
A Pediatrician and an optometrist are both professions that are needed in order to help people be
healthy. Both are a type of doctor and help the general public. The two require a good education and
require getting into a school that specializes in their field. When working, they make what is
considered a good amount of money. These aspects appeal to me because they are all qualities I can
see in my future. But each career has many aspects that differ from each other. A pediatrician
specializes in the care taking of children, while an optometrist is concerned with the human eyes. They
both require a different amount of education and make different amounts of money. For me, I do want
to work with kids, but helping people with their eyes really interests me. Though being a pediatrician
and an optometrist are both excellent careers, I prefer being an optometrist due to the education
requirements, general description, and the salary. Being a pediatrician requires a good education,
working with children and leaves the doctor with a high salary. The education for a pediatrician is very
similar to any type of doctor. It requires going to an undergraduate school for four years. After doing
this, one must have a Bachelor s degree in order to move forward. Then there are four more years of
medical school. After the degree is earned, a pediatrician has to go through at least three years of a
residency. If a pediatrician plans on going into a subspecialty, then it would take two more

Nicaraguan Politics and Government Essay
Nicaraguan Politics and Government
On the narrow isthmus known as Central America, between the world s two greatest oceans,
Nicaragua has been marked by endless years of political turmoil, social tension and economic dismay.
The turmoil s that have shaken the country make it plausible to believe that by some metaphysical law,
Nicaraguan politics have accommodated to nature s tantrums. Like its diverse, rugged and seismically
active geology, the country s politics have been irregular, impulsive and often explosive (Pastor, 15).
The Nicaraguan election of February 25, 1990 represents the country s attempt to break from its
turbulent political past and pursue economic and political stability through the establishment of a
democracy. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was much speculation regarding the potential outcome of the election especially regarding the
possible social upheavals that could have resulted in yet another Civil War. The National Vote
Counting Center was not announcing results until every electoral ballot had been counted, but quick
counts conducted by both sides of the opposition as well as by the representatives of the monitoring
international organizations hinted at the possible victory of UNO. As a result the concern had shifted
as to how to ensure a smooth transition while preventing any possible social upheavals. Daniel Ortega
expressed his concern to Carter in meeting that took place the night the polls were closed: I wanted to
talk to you about what could be an eventual triumph of UNO, and take steps to ensure that if this
occurred, it would not produce a bad outcome. There is a section within UNO who would be so
encouraged by a UNO victory that they might want to provoke acts of violence against the FSLN....
There could be a civil war. The conduct of the U.S. government would be decisive (Pastor, 261). Due
to the cooperation of the opposition party s especially in calming and controlling their supporters, the
announcement of the UNO victory did not result in any social repercussions and hence helped
Nicaragua serve as an exemplary model to the international community proving that peaceful
transition is in fact possible. Despite Barrios s success in the election her tenure

My Strengths Weaknesses
My Strength and Weakness
Everyone is different in many ways. There are differences in gender, nationality, religious activities
and there are differences in strengths and weaknesses. Those strengths and weaknesses are looked at
in Corporate America and they assist the higher management in making decisions for the roles we play
on each team. I will be discussing my strengths and weaknesses.
Over the years, I have learned how to react and respond in different ways and it all depends on what is
happening in my surroundings. I owe a lot of this to my 11 years of military service. The military
trains you in a way that once you are done with their training; you will walk, talk and act as a soldier
is supposed to act. There are times when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Procrastination and being laid back are two of my biggest weaknesses. The behavior has minimized
since assuming the leadership role with Bank of America. I always would take on tasks and do them at
months end then I would find myself working 18 hour days to complete what could have been started
at the beginning of the month. One of the good things that my leadership has in place is a daily pulse
check. This enables us to see where we stand as a leadership team and to ensure that no task goes
undone. At the beginning, I continually pushed back on completing my tasks and there was always a
rush at months end to complete all assigned tasks. After leaving the Army 10 years ago, I also
procrastinated on my higher education until recently. I kept on stating that there was little or no time to
complete my higher education. After several job declines due to not having a degree; I decided to take
the step and finish my degree.
Being too open or showing feelings at the work place is another weakness that I do carry. With my
military background I have been lead to believe that your squad is like family and things are to be
discussed just in case we ever did go to war I would know what would motivate the soldier in a time
of crisis. I have bought this thought with me into Corporate America and it has come to hurt me as
bringing in your personal life into the workplace. When I was going through the crisis with my
mother; I worked in the Spanish Department and my manager

The Main Effects Of Poverty In Developed Countries
Poverty can be defined as the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount. This is a very
serious issue that needs to be addressed or it will only get worse. A family where money is not a
problem or are well off might think that someone in poverty means they cannot afford items such as
clothes or a car, but that notion could not be more wrong. Poverty is being unable to keep clothes on
one s back and struggling to find food to get through the day. The average citizen of a first world
country might think that poverty is not affecting them or not important, but in reality, poverty is a
serious problem leading to crime, affecting the development of children and education in less
developed countries.
One of the biggest effects of poverty in less developed countries in the drastic increase in crime.
Direct relationships are evident with the amount of crime in areas in the world where poverty is
existent. In the minds of people dealing with extreme poverty, the item wanted or reward outweighs
the risk of being caught. With no money and the constant struggle for food and clothes, people resort
to robbery or theft to get what is essential in surviving even if that enhances the risk of illegal
activities. With poverty, comes a lack of jobs and increased rate of unemployment resulting in people
coming to a last resort, drugs. The selling and use of drugs is a way of making some money while the
rest of the country is suffering with poverty. Drugs becoming more

My Favorite Place At The World Is The State Of Oregon
Oregon
My favorite place in the world is the state of Oregon. The reason for this being my favorite place is
because of how green and simply beautiful this place is. I have had the fortune of getting to visit this
state twice. I even took a train ride home from Washington through Oregon down to California. I must
add the scenery is seriously beautiful. I have never seen so many trees in my life. The name Oregon
means windstorm or hurricane. The reason they gave it this name is because of the powerful chinook
winds of the Columbia River that blows through this state. I also wanted to do this place because they
are known for their cheese and ice cream from the Tillamook brand. They also have a lot of wild
berries growing and have about 80 national parks you can visit. In Cannon Beach there is the famous
Haystack rock. Haystack rock is 235 ft tall and is home to wildlife. It also has made great tidepools
full of marine life. Crater lake happens to be the deepest lake in the United States and the second
deepest in all of North America. It also ranks number 9 in the world. The way this massively deep lake
was formed was due to the collapse of a volcano ,known as Mount Mazama. Its max depth is 1.949ft.
Oregon consists of 6 different areas. The coast, Klamath mountains , Willamette lowlands,Cascade
Mountains, Columbia Plateau , and the basin and range region. The Pacific shoreline of Oregon is
bordered by narrow coastal plains of sandy beaches, luxuriant

  • 4. The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories cannot be forgotten. • 6. Analysis Of The Movie The Manchurian Candidate On the surface, the movie The Manchurian Candidate presents a parallel universe inspired by the paranoid right wing illusions of people who believed in the Red Scare. The film itself crosses over into several different dramas: war film, political satire, paranoid science fiction, black comedy, suspenseful intrigue, and horror. The notion that the Russian and Chinese Communists were working together to take over the U.S. by infiltrating them was a common idea. Because of the communist brainwashing when captured, Raymond Shaw s lack of agency allows him to be controlled by outside influences in order to infiltrate the United States. The paranoia and fear of losing control to the communists during the Red Scare is paralleled in the film to a fear of the power that women had over men. The relationship that Raymond Shaw has with the women in his life is in complete opposition of the normal relationships men had with women during the Cold War. This opposition is analogous throughout the entire movie, especially in the dream sequence and in relation to Eleanor Shaw. Distorted representations of both men and women, which are not of the customary gender roles during this time, contribute to the formation of a pubic spectacle. The relationship between Eleanor and Raymond Shaw is not detailed in the movie, however her explicit control over him is evident. The Jocasta complex presented in the novel creates a conflict for the remainder of Raymond s life. His mother controls Raymond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Embalming is a simple process with rich history that does wonders for a body and families. The history of embalming goes all the way back to the Civil War. Those who were left needed an efficient way to take care of the fallen bodies. Dr. Thomas Holmes was the first person to practice the French s embalming techniques in America. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some families want to see their loved one for the last time as if they are sleeping. Embalming makes this possible. The chemicals give the skin a natural color, along with makeup and other fixings (Godfrey). For many families, this last memory of their loved one is very important (Embalming). In rare circumstances, various cultures do not embalm the dead. Islamic and Jewish cultures refuse to embalm the deceased. It is seen as disrespectful to the body. Bodies are buried within 24 48 hours of their deaths. Hindus do not bury the dead at all; rather, they are burned. Catholicism requires that a body is buried as soon as arrangements are made. Due to these speedy burials and requirements, embalming is not necessary here. In fact, embalming is looked down upon in these cultures (Gray). Despite common beliefs, embalming is a short process. There are two main parts: internal and external. First, the blood and other bodily fluids are replaced with embalming fluid. To do this, a small incision is made to the neck and the two veins are brought up. The body cavity is punctured and cured as well. Once the inside of the body is completely embalmed, the focus returns to the external parts. The jaw is shut, the eyes are fixed, and any work to rebuild the face is done. Then makeup is applied. • 11. Feminism And The Feminist Movement Essay The feminist movement came to fruition during the early 20th century. Over all, the push for women s suffrage and rights was strong, but further enhanced by leaders like Alice Paul and Jane Addams. The idea of equal rights for all was further scrutinized and contested after civil rights were granted to former slaves. Women began to push for similar equality as illustrated through the feminist movement. The feminist movement became very large and sprouted subsections, one being a subsection of feminism known as social feminism. This branch of feminism was more interested in social rights and used suffrage as a tool to obtain these rights. The question that arises from this idea of a more specific section of feminism becomes: does social feminism qualify as feminism in its truest form? Does social feminism embody the same ideas and morals of the feminist movement? In general, does social feminism count as feminism? Some people question the validity of this brand of feminism. I believe this section of feminism qualifies as feminism nonetheless. To examine this, we must first accurately define social feminism and feminism as a whole, before we can actively compare them. First, let us address the meaning of feminism as the overarching category, in which several specific divisions of feminism fall. Feminism is an extremely simple concept to grasp, if one believes in equal political, economic and social rights for men and women, then they can be classified as a ... • 13. Analysis Of The Poem Acquainted With The Night By... The poem Acquainted with the Night by Robert Frost is not simply about a walk being taken on a rainy night, as one would assume on their first reading. Instead a closer reading of the poem will reveal to the reader a much darker journey. As the speaker describes his trudge through the city streets, the reader begins to see that this is far more than a walk through a gloomy night; it is a man s journey through depression. While Frost s dark poem is written much like a sonnet, having fourteen lines, it is not a sonnet in the traditional sense, as it follows the terza rima rhyming scheme which is an interlocking three line rhyme scheme: aba, bcb, cdc, ded, and so on (Meyer, 2012, p. 1673). Terza rima is made up of tercets woven into a rhyme scheme that requires the end word of the second line in one tercet to supply the rhyme for the first and third lines in the next tercet, continuing the pattern until the final stanza or line. Borrowing this rhyme scheme from Dante Alighieri and by utilizing a few lines a mere fourteen Frost is able to paint a convincing picture to the reader of the true feeling of depression by using the literary elements of metaphor, imagery, and theme. Frost uses metaphors in Acquainted with the Night to express the darkness and loneliness that are familiar feelings for those that suffer with depression. Though the entire poem can be interpreted as a metaphor for depression, Frost uses individual words and phrases as metaphors as well. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Difference Between New England And Chesapeake Colonies During the Ages of Exploration, various European nations, such as Spain, French and England, created colonies in the newly discovered America. England, in particular, created settlements near the East coast of North America. The reason behind the rapid expansion and colonization was the idea of mercantilism. Mercantilism is when the mother country, England, exports more than it imports. The colonies were responsible for bringing the raw materials to the mother country, where it was turned into finished goods and then be exported. Mercantilism was believed to be a zero sum game, which meant that if one country had something, other countries could not take it. Since Spain already had various settlements in the New World, England wanted to compete with them and gain land to become more economically advanced. Two particular regions of settlement for the English colonies were the Chesapeake region and New England. The Chesapeake region include present day Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The New England region included Massachusetts Bay Colony, Plymouth, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Although they were both English colonies, they had developed distinct societies. • 23. Iago as the Representation of Evil in Shakespeare s Othello Iago as the Representation of Evil in Othello In Shakespeare s, Othello, the reader is presented the classic battle between the deceitful forces of evil and the innocence of good. It is these forces of evil that ultimately lead to the breakdown of Othello, a noble Venetian moor, well known by the people of Venice as an honorable soldier and a worthy leader. Othello s breakdown results in the murder of his wife Desdemona. Desdemona is representative of the good in nature. Good can be defined as forgiving, honest, innocent and unsuspecting. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is this jealousy and the ignorance of Othello that lead to the downfall of Desdemona, the one truly good natured character in the play. As the play opens we are immediately introduced to the hostility of Iago against Othello. Iago has been appointed the position of servant to Othello instead of the more prestigious position of lieutenant. Michael Cassio has been appointed this position. Iago feels betrayed because he considers him self more qualified than Cassio to serve as lieutenant. Iago then foreshadows his plans for Othello to Roderigo, O, sir, content you. / I follow him to serve my turn upon him (Act I, Scene I) . Iago already realizes that Othello thinks about him as an honest man. Roderigo is used by Iago as an apprentice and someone to do his dirty work. Roderigo is naively unsuspecting. As the play shifts from Venice to Cyprus there is an interesting contrast. Venice, a respectful and honorable town is overshadowed by the war torn villages of Cyprus. It could be said that Venice represents good or specifically Desdemona and that Cyprus represents evil in Iago. Desdemona has been taken from her peacefulness and brought onto the grounds of evil. Iago commits his largest acts of deceit in Cyprus, fittingly considering the atmosphere. • 26. Cold Sassy Tree By Rucker Blakeslee Cold Sassy Tree Through time, people have made choices that have not been considered socially acceptable by their peers. From one choice, these peers will shun, bully and ridicule. In Cold Sassy Tree, Rucker Blakeslee tested the society s limits when he remarried to a young woman, Miss Love Simpson, shortly after the death of his first wife. The town found it repulsive that a man would not wait a couple years, much less a couple months before even thinking about remarrying. Miss Love and Rucker made their choice, although everyone in town was critical of the choice they made. The young couple was judged by Cold Sassy due to the choice they made was not a choice anyone else in town would consider. Why is it socially unacceptable to compose an unpopular decision? The Gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus visiting his hometown. He visited a synagogue and begins to teach the people around him, but the people were offended. People questioned him as only the carpenter, the son of Mary. The implied meaning is that he was worthless teaching, and he could only heal a few people. Jesus was the son of God and many skeptical people in his time did not believe it. Jesus went through many different times of not being socially accepted, like how Rucker was socially rejected for remarrying. In their times, peers made choices of what others would think or would not accept what they did not know. It was considered unacceptable to make these decisions for the reason that ... Of course, some migrant children born in their parents host country may find themselves at odds with the previous generations methods, and struggle to make themselves out as people who grow alongside the national community. Ultimately, it is a matter of what migrants and their children intend for themselves in terms of character and identity that enables them to form a deliberated relationship with the neighboring locals. There are always distinctive ways of going about cultivating the migrants status as outsiders, or people who do not belong amongst the locals, whether or not they realize it, Migrants collaborate their individual and collective representations of belonging accordingly with what they intend for themselves to be while taking into account the isolating perceptions of the present national community.
