- #3 I’d like to welcome you to the NFC Forum’s first Open Forum with a question . . . . In the US, which is more popular, Tiktok or NFC? (hit play button) NFC or Near Field Communication is a standard feature in smartphones. So, if you are one of the over two billion smartphone users in the world you have NFC. Today, at the open forum you will learn about NFC and some of the exciting things going on with the technology right now. And, of course, you can use you NFC-enabled smartphone to make a Tiktok video if you like.
- #4 It’s not a question of will NFC be successful. Instead, it is a question of how successful can NFC become? According to Statistica, three billion smartphones are in use putting NFC literally right in the hands of people. NFC Forum data shows that about 60 NFC-enabled devices are produced per second in the world. IHS numbers show that 20% of the world’s population can use NFC today. NFC is already successful. How successful it becomes is in our hands, literally
- #5 NFC is mainstream and out-front. It is versatile and used in countless applications around the globe. You see NFC being used by Nike in sports apparel. Mercedes Benz and 30 out of the 39 major car brands according to an NFC Forum survey use NFC for multiple applications. It is also very important in transportation where it plays a key role as an enabler of Mobility-aa-a-Service or MaaS in upwards of a 1,000 cities in the world. Anywhere you need to offer access, information, identity or to initiate an action, NFC can play a role.

- #10 NFC is a standards-based short-range wireless connectivity technology that makes your smartphones, wearables, tablets and other devices even smarter. NFC is built into over two billion NFC-enabled devices in use and is compatible with hundreds of millions of contactless cards and readers already deployed worldwide. Briefly touch (or ‘tap’) your NFC-enabled smartphone to another NFC-enabled object to share pictures, play music, make payments, access useful information, and more easily set up Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. No PIN codes, camera-based scanners, or wires are required to use this simple, intuitive technology. Wireless charging was just introduced this year and soon you’ll be able to wirelessly charge small devices like earbuds with your mobile phone thanks to NFC.
