The Calypso solutions
Calypso’s solutions are based on a set of open specifications
and software tools available to all manufacturers, creating a
technically secure ‘baseline’ upon which stakeholders can
build.
• Calypso for cards – connect with readers in the same
manner, regardless of supplier
• Calypso for mobile – enable customers to order, buy and
validate tickets using a smartphone/watch
• Calypso for terminals – open source SDK, Eclipse Keyple,
supports security and interoperability
• Calypso for ABT – server-centric solutions that reduce
costs & enable MaaS integrations
• Calypso for interoperability – merge tickets to one
card/app via Hoplink to use across networks
• Calypso certification – independent guarantees that
Calypso performs to the highest standard

Calypso for mobile
Dematerialisation is at the heart of the ticketing evolution:
Calypso open standards help deliver a set of solutions tailored to all mobile
environments via Secure Element and HCE for Android
NFC Open Forum, June 23rd 2021
6
• For all NFC & Android smartphones
• An « only software » solution
• Based on the HCE-Calypso specification,
implemented by manufacturers
• Requires security countermeasures at the
system level
• Consequently requires some adaptations of
the system infrastructure
• For NFC smartphones with a Secure Element
• A "hardware & software” solution
• Based on the Calypso applet software delivered
free of charge by CNA to its members
• Strictly the same level of security as the Prime
card
• Requires no adaptation of the system
infrastructure

Post-Covid impacts on Public Transport
New behaviours and needs of citizens
• Home working increase
• A new balance between mass transit and
new mobilities : bike, scooters, walk, car
sharing, etc.
• Requirements for social distancing,
Ticketing must adapt
• Avoid queues at ticket gates and sales
• Propose adapted tarification
• Enables seamless travel
• Facilitate complementarity between mass
transit and individual means of transport

Contactless NFC
Pay-as-you-Go
MaaS
• Ergonomy for the customer
• Speed of transaction: allows flows of passengers, optimize
commercial speed, avoid queues
• Security of the transaction
• Reliability and resistance to vandalism
• With home working, with alternative means of transport, flat-
fee subscriptions will less and less fit customers’ needs.
• They will require fares that reflect their actual use of public
transportation and enables seamless travel
• The sanitary crisis has been a booster for the new mobilities
(bike, scooters) : for example + 25% in the Paris region
