Three Technological Changes To Photography In The Last 200...
________________________________________________________________
What have been three technological changes to photography in the last 200 years?
1. Color Photography, known as the first durable color photograph taken by Thomas Sutton, but James
Clerk Maxwell did the real work. James Clerk Maxwell was a mathematical physicist, he worked out
everything to take this photograph of The Tartan Ribbon, Thomas simply pressed the shutter button.
2. The Polaroid, the first real camera ever made, (meaning you didn t need a long exposure time, as
well as didn t have to develop the photo in a dark room.) The first Polaroid was the model 95 Land
Camera, made in 1948, by Edwin Land.

Yes, why? the quality of photographs now is so much better, not only pictures now feel like you re

How can the changes in technology inspire your practice of photography?
Before photography was very hard to create; now we can easily take a picture with the click of a
button, we also don t even need to develop photos. We can simply capture a photo and upload it to our
computer.

How do you use technology to improve your art, such as photographs
Many famous photographers use editing software, most people use Photoshop; editing software help
us make our photographs better, we can crop, brighten, auto fix, add filters and so many other things.
You can focus, and blur. Things you might not consider while taking the photograph.

Kohl s is a former employer of mine, for which I have designed a system of organization to better help
them with their inventory management. The problem Kohl s is having lies in the back overstock
rooms. There are so many products stocked back there, it can be very tough some days to help a
customer find what they are looking for. Also, the other problem is that the employee does not know if
the product is in the back room before even spending the time looking. The issue at hand is Kohl s
wants the customers to have a happy experience shopping and hopefully come back again. If the
customer can t find what they came into find, or have to wait for long periods of time ... Show more

The current major system already used by Kohl s is their specialized inventory system they currently
have on their customer service computer. The new inventory control system will work with this old
one, but will have many new up to the minute features. With the current system, if a customer asks an
employee about inventory, that employee directs them to customer service desk to look it up on a
computer. There is only one computer in the back of the store and usually one employee working, so
the customer usually ends up waiting, at times too long. The part of the new inventory system that
would be compatible with the current system will be the systems used by Kohl s stores that allow
them to see each other s inventory. The current system only shows if they have the product and how
many are left in any Kohl s store. This system is only updated every 24 48 hours, which can be too
long of a delay to help the customers at times. The new system would be updated after every purchase
and also keep track of which part of the store the product is in, whether it the product is on the floor or
in the back room. The new system would also have a computer in each department for the
convenience of the workers and customers. This will prevent a worker from needing to run all the way
to the back room and search while the customer is waiting, and also prevent them from having to send
the customer to the back of store to ask customer service about their product. Kohl s uses a

A Research On Being A Medical Sonographer Essay
Scrub wearin , gel squirtin , patient scannin , baby findin , Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Eat,
Sleep, Scan. Before I began my research on being a Medical Sonographer, I already had a pretty good
idea at some of the things they do. They mainly do ultrasounds on babies, to see the growth and health
of the baby. They also do ultrasounds on all different people, if they re in pain and they need to
determine the problem. Their job might seem easy; sometimes it is, but the other times when we
discover something wrong with the patient you have to keep it in. You are not allowed to tell them
what you just found out; only the doctor can do so. It s very heartbreaking for them to do baby
ultrasounds because sometimes, for some unknown reason something happens to that baby and it s
hard to keep that bottled up and act like nothing s wrong in front of their parents. I wanted to find out
what this job requires and what kind of education i need to obtain to get a job for this career. I also
wanted to find out the employment outlook, the estimated salary, and jobs in Mississippi for this
career. The first place I went to find my information was referred to by my teacher, where I found
every answer I needed and more. The website I found my information on is called mschoices.com. It
gave me my complete job outlook, requirements, and the salary of a Medical Sonographer. After I

Creative And Practical Skills Essay
Introduction
According to the proposed theory of human intelligence and its development (Sternberg, 1999a), a
common set of processes underlies all aspects of intelligence. These processes are hypothesized to be
universal. These processes are applied to different kinds of tasks and situations depending on whether
a given problem requires practical skills and creative skills.
Practical skills used to implement, apply, or put into practice ideas in real world contexts. It involves
individuals applying their abilities to the kinds of daily problems they confront on the job or at home.
Practical intelligence is the application of the components of intelligence to experience to: adapt to,
(b) shape, and (c) select environments.
In contrast with practical skills, creative skills used to create, invent, discover, imagine, suppose, or
hypothesize. Tests of creative intelligence go beyond tests of analytical intelligence in measuring
performance on tasks that require individuals to deal with relatively novel situations. Sternberg has
shown that assessing a range of abilities beyond that assessed by conventional tests of intelligence
allows one to tap sources of individual differences measured little or not at all by these tests
(Sternberg, 1985). It is also true that people are either practically or creatively skilful or they have
these both skills innate with them. But in consideration to its value in day to day life, practical skill
can be considered more important than creative

Blindness In King Lear Essay
The Shakespearean tragedy, King Lear, is a significant play that explores the concept of blindness
whilst communicating the importance of the theme for the characters King Lear and Earl of
Gloucester. Blindness is in literary terms is defined as the inability of the eye to see, however in
Shakespeare s play blindness is perceived to be a mental flaw that people possess and is the catalyst
for false decisions that eventually place the two characters into emotions of despair and regret. In the
play, Lear s self delusion and his inability to determine between right or wrong and genuine or fake,
leads him to a remorseful state. The prominent theme of blindness is explored throughout the play and
in Act 1 Scene 1, responders are able to sight the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gloucester s two sons; the legitimate and righteous Edgar and the illegitimate, disguised devil ,
Edmund, both whom Gloucester loves equally however due to his bastard son, he is blinded and
misunderstands Edgar. This act of blindness can be sighted in Act 1, Scene 2 as Gloucester is blinded
by Edmond who had given him a letter that he wrote himself, but presents in Edgar s perspective.
Gloucester is speaking to his son Edmund in anger and shock as he did not expect another side to
Edgar. Without further investigating the situation, Gloucester immediately believes what Edmund tells
him and concludes that Edgar is a villain . Gloucester s failure to seek both sides of this story before
placing all his trust into Edmund s letter demonstrates how Gloucester blinds himself from the truth
through ignorance. Gloucester s misconception of the truth due to his lack of consideration causes him
to misconceive the true nature of both his sons. Through the use of repetition whilst cursing Edgar, it
is evident that Gloucester has concluded that his legitimate son, Edgar, is the villain , without any
further investigation. He states, O villain, villain! His very opinion in the letter! Abhorred villain!
Unnatural, detested, brutish villain! Worse than brutish! Go, sirrah, seek him. I ll appre hend him.
Abominable villain! Where is he? The repetitive use of villain , whilst Gloucester curses Edgar and
makes it clear that he has fallen into Edmond s deception. This also suggests Gloucester s gullibility,
which is his inability and mental flaw that Edmond deviously takes advantage of in seek of power.
The concept of blindness is explored in this scene between Gloucester and Edmund, making it evident
that placing trust in people can result in much suffering, which Shakespeare has

Essay On Ozymandias
Current pop culture has been influenced by great works of literary merit for as long as we can
remember. Ozymandias, being the astounding poem it is, evidently had a lot to give to producers,
writers, and musicians hundreds of years after its release. Percy Shelley produced various ideas to take
from the poem; from whom the poem was about to when the poem was written. Each influenced piece
of pop culture uses Ozymandias in completely different ways; making Ozymandias an incredibly
versatile poem.
Breaking bad, a hit television series was greatly influenced by Ozymandias. So much so, they created
an episode named Ozymandias, and it came complete with the star of the show reciting the poem
himself. It starts off with connections right off the bat, showing the main character in the act that
started it all, the first time he made meth with his accomplice. We relive the memory, just as ... Show

Ozymandias was also a character created in the well known Watchmen comic books. He was not a
regular superhero, however. Adrian Alexander Veidt was not blessed with uncanny supernatural
powers that allowed him to fly or gave him the strength of 10 body builders. Instead his creators, Alan
Moore and Dave Gibbons, gave him a rough background and the title of the Smartest Man in the
World. How Adrian Veidt made himself into Ozymandias leads us straight into the history of the great
Pharaoh himself.

Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And...
It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the
world is faced with so many significant problems climate change, population density to name just two.
It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the
point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I
hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems.
My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember
the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple,
seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I
became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive
projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold
award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a Raspberry Pi and
open source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering,
particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X
says in Y ; ].
Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can
have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part
of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part
of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of
different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability
to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works at the PhD level.
Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have
been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently
attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an enlightening
experience because of the amount of new material that was covered,

History Of Mission San Juan Capistrano
The history of Mission San Juan Capistrano is similar to that of two other nearby missions in that it
was relocated to the San Antonio area from East Texas in 1731. Its purpose was also similar to that of
the other missions, namely to convert Native American groups to Christianity, assimilate them into

compound itself was constructed in a form typical of other San Antonio area missions, including a
church and plaza surrounded by a defensive wall formed from stone Indian quarters. The compound
included other ancillary structures such as a granary, convent, workshops, and other storage facilities.

Family Capitalism And The 19th Century
Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it
is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they
usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early
20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in
countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century,
only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in
Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there
was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008).
The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th
Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs
that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and
management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is
structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from
other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and
finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm.

The Territorial Status Of Puerto Rico
While some groups tend to separate themselves, differences are what make humans inherently similar.
According to Mahatma Gandhi, Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of
our civilization . Even though some may feel different than others, this does not mean that everyone
cannot join together with time. If people of different backgrounds and perspectives unite, they can
overcome any divisive barriers constructed by the past. Sometimes, barriers can exist in places where
one would least expect them, even in seemingly united nations. One example of a hidden divide
present in the Western world is the territorial status of Puerto Rico. Despite American ownership of
the island, Puerto Rican citizens are not granted the same rights and privileges as citizens of the 50
states. Despite Puerto Rico s long American history and attempts to gain statehood status, Puerto
Ricans are still treated differently by the federal government. This ought to be changed. Puerto Rico
should be granted statehood status as a result of the fact that it would improve the territory s stability,
strengthen American moral and social dynamics, and benefit the entire American populous.
The statehood debate can be somewhat contentious, but there are some facts that both sides can agree
to be true. The first is that the social and cultural dynamics of Puerto Rico and the 50 states are
somewhat different. Many fear that Puerto Rico is too culturally distinct to be

vibrantly colored murals adorn the support pylons of the freeway overpass. The walls pay tribute to
the history of the surrounding Mexican American and immigrant community called Barrio Logan. In
the 1960s, the community was further separated by the formation of the 5 Freeway and the high on

The park s story is worth retelling: The bisecting of the Barrio Logan community by I 5 and the
Coronado Bridge, ending in a concrete roof supported by large gray pillars, replaced at least 1,500
families. With a society of 20,000 in its heyday in the 1940s, the historic neighborhood was rezoned as
industrial in the 1950s, ushering in junkyards, auto wrecking operations, plating and chemical
companies, and now, a legacy of environmental and air condition issues.
In 1967, community leaders began demanding a neighborhood park under the bridge. When the
California Highway Patrol started building a substation there, hundreds of residents formed a human
shield to stop construction. They displayed signs in Spanish with statements like, More houses, fewer
junkyards, and they hoisted a Chicano flag from a telephone pole.
The use of murals as a tool of political resistance is a long Mexican tradition. Imagine the park

Though Corrie felt she could never love these people like her sister she tried everything possible. One
thing in the shop I never learned to do as well as Betsie, and that was to care about each person who

Latin American Stereotypes
Hollywood portrays Latin Americans as the view the United States as better a better and superior
country compared to theirs. Broader political and social issues have shaped this representation, which
has influenced the people s perception of Latin Americans in the United States. The films pose Latin
American as inferior in integrity and low intelligence as they are not worthy of the citizenship right in
the United States. According to Berumen, Hollywood portrays the Latin as inevitably seeking political

racism and prejudice festered and flourished in films, and people of darker skins were the primary

goes back before the cinematic revolution, as the Anglos see themselves as a better race and ethnic

The Battle Of Good And Bad In Plato s Crito
The battle of good and bad has been a debated topic for thousands of years, a fact evident in Plato s
dialogue, Crito. To become aware of the pretenses for this argument, it is significant to understand the
meanings of the words good and bad. Good is a word referring to the virtue of an individual, a term
meaning something is desired or pleasurable, or it can denote the moral right of a person or object.
The term bad has negative connotations; it is everything good is not. According to Merriam Webster,
bad can even be described as decayed or unwanted, but particularly, it is important to note that bad can
be synonymous with the expression evil. Good is written many times in the Crito, maybe inadvertently

not have another chance to escape and if he wants to live, he will take this opportunity. However,
Socrates refuses to go with Crito and his other loyal friends and family, and provides his typical

reason that he will not change his ideology and that he would rather die, than change his opinion. He

Music Piracy Is Not A Victimless Crime Essay
Many people have a different way at looking at things, especially when it comes to pirating music.
Music piracy is the illegal copying or downloading of music without the consent of the artist as well
as the recording company that made the song. The question that many might argue is whether or not
music piracy is a victimless crime. This subject influenced a journalist by the name of Charles W.
Moore. Charles Moore has an interesting story. Ten years after graduating from the University of
Michigan in 1947, he began attending Princeton University, where he achieved his master s and
doctoral degree. Moore has a great collection of lifelong friends because he tends to move frequently.
Later in life he settles down a bit and becomes a writer. In Moore s essay, he argues that the illegal
downloading of music is not a victimless crime. In fact, about seventy percent of online users do not
care whether the music they listen to, the book they read, or the movie they watch, is pirated or not.
Although the author s essay contains precise information and detail, it also has some flaws that do not
help benefit his writing. For instance, his transitions do not flow well, lack of correct research, no
valid arguments, and his introduction and concluding paragraphs are lousy.

1800s [and] life expectancies were only in the high thirties or early forties (Huber). Soon after the
father took himself another wife (Grimm). This is because in the 1800s second wives were quite
common, (P. Smith 107) as the main role of the man was to marry to produce a male heir. Since the
father only had Cinderella, a daughter, it was his role to remarry and have a male to inherit his land
and belongings. Remarrying was also a norm of the time for child rearing. While the role of the man
was to produce an heir, the role of the woman was to take care of the children. Taking care of the
children was typically in the hands of the mother (Eidson). The stepmother s role would have been to
watch over the children as the husband was gone. This occurs several times throughout the story as the
stepmother watches over Cinderella as the husband goes to the fair . . . and festivals (Grimm). Women
would remarry because they were limited in resources (P. Smith 107) without a man, so it is not
unusual the stepmother remarried as well. By remarrying, the stepmother is provided for by the
husband. The husband provides a home for the girls and buys dresses,

Comparing Christmas And Hanukkah
Despite being the product of separate, largely dissimilar religions, Christmas and Hanukkah fulfill a
similar goal. Although the specific food traditions throughout Christianity and Judaism differ greatly,
the role of food in these holidays is largely the same. Food is imbued with a sense of remembrance
and reverence, creating a level of similarity between two very distinct traditions.
Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights, is a central holiday in modern Judaism. Although it is not a
Biblical holiday, it marks a significant cultural event in Jewish history, commemorating the
Maccabean revolt and subsequent rededication of the temple by Judah Maccabee. Central to the
holiday is the miracle of oil, whereby a single container of holy oil, one day s ... Show more content

Turkey is common, although other large birds are often substituted. In predominantly Catholic parts of
Europe, the traditional Christmas dinner is The Vigil, a feast comprised of seven varieties of fish either
baked or fried in oil. This stems from the Catholic tradition of avoiding meat on some holidays, and
incorporates a lesson on Catholic numerology into the meal. While there has been some effort to
incorporate Christian lessons and stories into Christmas foods, such as candy canes, the spiritual
aspect of Christmas food is still fairly nebulous in its presentation. Because it draws from such diverse
cultural backgrounds, as opposed to the less varied cultural heritage of Judaism, food is not as highly
valued as a teaching tool. That is not to say there is no religious motivation behind Christmas food, or
that there are no parallels to traditional Hanukkah foods, but these parallels and motivations are
superficial at best. Instead, one must look at the overarching themes behind Christmas and Hanukkah
food traditions in order to find a connection. While there are few similarities between the Christian
and Jewish traditions, they both mark a significant event in their religion, and they both commemorate
it with food. Food as a tool of reverence, then, is a common thread between

Conserving Water For The Future
Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community,
with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all
creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing
the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable
more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by
simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be
invested into water saving irrigation methods. There was a time when you didn t shut the water off
when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that little bit of water.
The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In
order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be
dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and
using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water.
Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime
example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. In a continent where 23.2% of its
inhabitants are starving they still have farms without irrigation (World Hunger). Well it would require
significant changes switching

Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers
Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers
One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving exam
and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly a life
changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car accidents with
teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the world. While getting a
license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way, the associated risks of
having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the privilege of being able to
drive at such an early age.
Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a vehicle,
just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own. Studies from the
American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI research that the prefrontal
cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control, and executive decision making)
does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this, teens are also less likely to understand
the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are natural risk takers and participate in many
other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re getting their permits and licenses. A 2005 study
by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development found that,

To Kill a Mockingbird The Powerful Character of Atticus Finch
In the beginning epigraph of To Kill a Mocking Bird, Harper Lee quotes a statement made by Charles
Lamb: Lawyers, I suppose, were children once. As told through the eyes of the rambunctious
elementary school child, Scout Finch, we see not only how she and her brother s lives are affected by
their community, also how they develop and mature under the watch of their father, lawyer Atticus
Finch. As a wise role model to his town of Maycomb as well as his children, Atticus Finch becomes a
prominently admirable character. As a father, lawyer, friend, and foe, Atticus Finch proves himself to

Atticus Finch also shows the characteristics of a truly selfless person as well. As Scout recalls of one

Cosmological Argument
Examine the cosmological argument for the existence of God.
The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that there is an
intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe, explains the existence of the
universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of
cosmological arguments is that the world and everything in it is dependent on something other than
itself for its existence. It explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause,
and that this first cause was itself uncaused.
Many philosophers have explored the cosmological argument, including Aquinas, in much depth,
through his Five Ways in the Summa Theologica. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas rejection of
infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating on contingency, which he
discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas,
argued that there are things in the universe which are contingent, for example, us we would not have
existed if our parents had not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is
self explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore, we are forced
to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a cause which is self
explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its own existence a necessary being.
The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved
mover , like Aquinas suggested, there is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the
universe is gratuitous without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning
Everything is gratuitous. This garden, this city, and myself; when you suddenly realise it, it makes you
feel sick and everything begins to drift... that s nausea .
Leibniz, who wrote On the Ultimate Origination of Things , also supported the cosmological
argument; his argument is sometimes called the argument from

Biological And Social Norms Of Gender Roles
Introduction
In general, social psychology looks at how people think about one another, but as well as how they
influence and relate to each other (Myers, 2014, pg. 554). Gender plays a fascinating role within our
social settings. Biological sex defines gender, however biology and social characteristics help define a
male and a female (Myers, 2014, pg.154). Gender roles are behaviours that a culture would typically
expect from both male and females (Myers, 2014, pg.159). Our expectations for things like the parent
that stays home with the children, shopping, driving, and who pays for dinner on a date come from
these gender roles. Gender roles bring up questions around biology versus our cultural surroundings
and how gender roles become developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cognitive dissonance is becoming aware of the fact that our attitudes and actions are not coinciding
and therefore tension is felt (Myers, 2014, pg.558). Birdee struggles with this at the very beginning of

follows her until she is able to actually verbalize it and is made clear when describing her loss of self.

Advantages Of The First Mover Vs. Market Follower
1.0 First Mover Vs. Market Follower
1.1 What is First Mover?
It is a form of competitive advantage that a company gain its fame and money by being the first to
enter a specific market or industry. Being the first often allows a company to acquire superior brand
recognition, as well as customer loyalty. The company also has more time to make perfect its product
or services before other competitors come along.
For examples of first movers include innovative companies such as eBay and Coca Cola. eBay was
the first company to take auctions process online in 1995. Coca Cola in the other place was the first
cola producer whom started off selling cough mixture but then realized consumers prefer drinking it as
soda, hence came up with the idea to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to be a first mover, an organisation must be a pioneer batch of business ideas, and this means
incurring costs in terms of time and investment. For example Sony, technology must be invented,
distribution systems have to be established and knowledge about new markets must be learned from
scratch, sometimes it may be painful. For those who comes later to the market, the costs of acquiring
all this knowledge can be much lower: products can be reverse engineered to discover their secrets
and then improved on or experienced staff can be head hunted from the first mover firm to impart and
share their knowledge and etc.
3.0 Benefits of Market Follower
Reduce risks
By focusing on what works and what does not. Hence will not repeat the costly mistakes of
competitors but yet still grows its customer base.
Avoid extra costs
Imitation can be just as effective and profitable as innovation. Market leaders take on costs of research
and development, distribution, and consumer education. However a market follower piggybacks on
the tactics that work best for the leader and gain its opportunity to appeal in a competitor s consumer
base. Instead of trying to be the best or most popular company, a market follower focuses on leverages
its own successes to grow the business.

Predict Sex Is Better Than Postcranial Measurements
predict sex was better than postcranial measurements. Additionally, sexual dimorphic features show
large variation within and between populations (Keen, 1950; Acsádi, and Nemeskeri, 1970; Workshop
of European Anthropologists, 1980; Ubelaker, 1984; Krogman and İşcan, 1986). Some sites on the
skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination.
For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on
a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can
also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Yet, this and others, are still
some of most commonly used sites for sexing. Keen (1950) expressed that because morphology is
often related to size and robustness, determining sex is extremely difficult unless extreme features are
expressed, such as a very small mastoid process that projects only a small distance for females and a
massive mastoid process that projects a great distance from the inferior margins of the skull for males.
Furthermore Meindl et al. (1985) and Walker (1995) have discussed that the morphology of sites on
the skull of both sexes appear more masculine as the person ages, which would also hinder the
accuracy of determining the sex of skeletal remains. Buikstra and Ubelaker (1994, p.16) also caution
that estimation of sex can be difficult if the observer is not familiar with the overall pattern

The two poems that I chose to write about are Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy and homage to my hips by

thinly veiled reference to herself. Piercy, however, did not sacrifice herself to patriarchy s image of
what an ideal woman should be; rather, she made herself into a crusader for women s rights ( Barbie
Doll 33). The quote helps me to understand Piercy s views for this poem. She felt that she did not fit

Douglas writes the article Young Women Learn Harmful Gender Stereotypes from Reality TV that, I
think, is most relevant in the 21st century. The author says, Any feminist, female or male, who has

carefully selected lunk of a guy in the most recent case, Aaron is presented with a harem of 25 also
carefully selected young women, all slim, all conventionally pretty and most blonde (Douglas, para.
1). A show such as The Bachelor does not represent real women. The media tries to portrait a perfect
looking woman, which majorities are white on the show. In Clifton s poem, she frees herself from the
stereotype of what women should look. In her poem homage to my hips, the speaker says, these hips
have never been enslaved, / they go where they want to go / they do what they want to do (ln. 8 10).
Additionally, Douglas says, The show is not about Aaron, it s about the 25 young women. Female
viewers see an array of personas, identifying with some and rejecting others, as they calibrate what
kind of woman succeeds in a world where appearance and personality still powerfully determine a
woman s fate (para. 8). To me, it says that a women who watches those type of show do not care about

High Consumption Of Junk Food Essay
Introduction:
Obesity affects more than 640 million people globally. In addition, the world s population becomes
over 3 pounds heavier each decade (Encarnação et al., 2016). According to a global study conducted
by several public health professors in London, England, by 2025, 18% of men and 21% of women will
become obese (Encarnação et al., 2016). All over the world, individuals are consuming large amounts
of foods high in salt, fat and sugar due to low costs and easy accessibility. High consumption of junk
food is detrimental to human health and has resulted in the consideration of junk food taxes all over
the world in order to defeat the current obesity epidemic (Encarnação et al., 2016). Governments all
over the world should tax foods and beverages that are high in fat, simple sugars and salt because
obesity is a rising global issue and junk food taxes will help to decrease obesity rates, reduce disease
and raise revenue, which will ultimately result in a healthier and happier generation of people.
Arguments for your position:
First of all, taxing foods high in fat, simple sugars and salt will reduce obesity rates significantly.
Secondly, the taxation of junk food will help reduce disease, which will lead to increased health and
happiness of todays generation of people.
Lastly, taxing junk food will lead to a rise in revenue, which will contribute to the health and
happiness of individuals and reduce the rising global issue of obesity.

I believe that one of the main causes for an increasingly overweight and obese American population is
the fast food industry. With fast food being convenient and cheaper the average busy American turns
to it as a source of nutrition more times than not. Fast food in general is high in fat and sugars with
little nutritional value. Eating this daily or even 3 5 times a week can most definitely negatively affect
your person. I feel I can also speak from personal experience knowing that when I eat a heavy burger

Although they get the most of the flack, it seems to me that we can t point the blame all at the fast

food industry, but the general public as well. The fast food industry encourages the public to buy their
food through advertisement and even reward systems, but the general public is too naive or generally

The Repercussions Of Ignorance In The Chrysalids By John...
The Repercussions of Ignorance Martin Luther King said, Nothing in all the world is more dangerous
than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity (Bell). The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is set in
the future after an apocalyptic event known as Tribulation, causing a lack of knowledge of the past.
The main community, Waknuk, is prejudiced and ignorant. The narrator, David, recalls the unfolding
of the dangerous predicament caused by his society s ignorance. In this novel, the author presents that
ignorance results in adversity and ultimately, a society s downfall. The Waknukians ignorance creates
a hostile environment, causes disagreement, and is the agent of their own defeat.
The Waknukians ignorance leads to their abomination of Mutants, creating a very hostile environment.
Their ignorance and lack of knowledge cause them to rely on the only remains of the Old People and
are used for direction in their lives. When speaking of Nicholson s Repentances David says, Frequent
references to these texts had made me familiar with the words long before I was able to read, in fact I
am not sure that they did not give me my first reading lessons. I knew them by heart, just as I knew
others elsewhere in the house, which said things like: THE NORM IS THE WILL OF GOD (18). This
represents the environment that the Waknukians are exposed to early in life, and this is evident when
David says that he was familiar with the words long before [he] was able to read. It shows how
significant these morals are to the Waknukians, and how in the absence of knowledge, they preach the
only things that they know. This creates an image from a young age of what Mutants are like and
creates a hostile and antagonistic society. The people of Waknuk are very vigilant because of their
upbringing, and what they have been taught is right. David says, People in our district had a very
sharp eye for the odd, or the unusual, so that even my left handedness caused slight disapproval (5).
This is important because it gives insight into the Waknukians views and opinions, and the mentality
of Waknuk becomes clear. It ties into the communities ignorance because they act this way out of
scarcity of any other options. They are taught that

The Sniper Theme Essay
What a cruel thing is war : to separate and destroy families and friends... Robert E. Lee. This quote
relates to The Sniper, because it explains how the sniper killed his brother. It separated and destroyed
his family because he shot his brother. He thought his brother was the enemy even though he wasn t.
The Sniper the short story by Liam O Flaherty, starts off with the sniper patrolling the surrounding
area he is in. Then he decides to take a smoke and a bullet flies past him. After his last smoke he gets
hit in the right forearm. Then he thinks of a plan to kill the other shooter. He drops his rifle off the roof
making the other shooter think he is dead. The sniper then fires a long distant shot. The shooter slowly
falls to the ground and dies. He then goes and looks into the dead shooters face and sees his brother.
The Sniper by Liam O Flaherty believes that duty and sadness is always a part of war.

Aphorism Meaning
Life is not about getting and having, it is about giving and being Kevin Kruse. This aphorism has a
strong meaning behind it that inspires many. An aphorism is a quote that is meant to inspire. I chose
this aphorism, because it has a lot of meanings that convey in our daily lives and although we know
about it, sometimes we tend to forget about it. I m here to remember us why it plays such a big role
and why more of us should start to put the actions behind the words of this aphorism. I connect to the
aphorism personally through a special way that opened my eyes to reality. Using this aphorism I have
embraced and made a change within me showcasing the elements that the words reveal. I have
renovated myself and thinking mindset that helps me think more about others and not just myself. This

This basically describes how my life used to be before I discovered this aphorism. I could not believe
how much it changed me; it did so much to the point where just by understanding and applying the
meaning into the words it contains, it can open many doors for you along with making you a better
person by doing the right thing. I used to think about only myself and my own personal problems until
that it started to become a problem as well. Not seeing that my little problem was nothing compared to
others daily struggles. My heart aches from feeling ashamed to think about the way I used to look
down on others for them needing help and asking for it. I thought that the only persons who s needs
and wants mattered and were the most important and above anyone else s was my own. I came to
realize with this thinking of mine and attitude I was started to head down the path of greed and

Nature Effects In The Myth, Icarus And The Poem,
Nature effects both the myth, Icarus and Daedalus, and the poem, Icarus, in many ways. Some
examples of this are the heat of the sun, birds and the ocean.
In the myth, Daedalus was watching seagulls fly around and got an idea. As said in the myth,
...watching the seagulls... he thought of a plan for himself and his young son Icarus, who was captive
with him. He got inspiration from nature on a way to escape the island he and his son, Icarus, were
trapped on.
Both the myth and the poem stress how Icarus fell when he flew too close to the sun, causing the wax
keeping the wings together to melt. The poem mentions this in the second stanza, Did he rail at the
sun, which beckoned enticingly, and the changed from a beacon to a furnace? Since

Research Design And Research Project
Research Design and Methodology Research Design and Purpose The research design of this action
research project is nonexperimental. The research attempts to examine the relationship between the
alignment of home and school beliefs or expectations as it relates to the push to limit gender
stereotypes in the classrooms of young preschool age students. Understanding how gender stereotypes
affect preschool age children s perceptions of what they feel is acceptable gender behavior in school
compared to what these children feel is acceptable at home. This action research project will be using
qualitative research methods to investigate and gain a better understanding of preschool students and
their parents perspectives, opinions, and attitudes about gender stereotypes as they relate to home and
school alignment. This project s researchers will collect descriptive non numerical data to interpret
preschool age students and their parents views and attitudes. Qualitative research methods are the best
method for my capstone project, as I am attempting to understand the attitudes and opinions of
individuals that cannot be quantified by a number. According to Ary, Jacobs, Sorensen, Walker (2015),
qualitative methods focus on understanding social phenomena from the perspective of human
participants in natural settings (p. 24). Through this project, I do not seek to predict an outcome but to
understand the effect of two distinct viewpoints about young children and their

Sample Theme Essay on Amigo Brothers
SAMPLE ESSAY ON THEME The Amigo Brothers, written by Piri Thomas, is a story about a special
friendship between two boys. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown up together
and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream of a future in
which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help each other train
regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the first time ever, they
have to compete against one another in a match. In the end, however, their relationship survives
because both boys value their friendship above their ambitions. Through the words, thoughts, and
actions of Antonio and Felix, the author expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Felix, too, tries to block out his thoughts and feelings about Antonio, but while he is sitting in a movie
theater, his thoughts are so much with Antonio that he keeps imagining Antonio s face on the movie
screen while he, Felix, is punching him out. Both boys are unable to stop thinking about protecting the
other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the boys to testify to the
value of friendship. Finally, the story s theme is relayed through the final actions of the boys. During
the fight, both are focused on winning the match. Each attacks the other with full force. The fight
becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water is poured on both of them,
they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened to them, they rush toward
each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of the fight, but when the
announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys leave the ring arm in arm. The
reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most important to them. What they
really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through the ultimate actions of the boys. In
conclusion, the boys choice to leave

The Impact Of Eleanor Roosevelt
Some know her as the First Lady of the United States and wife to Franklin D. Roosevelt; while others
know her as a feminist who empowered others to stand up for what they believe. Despite controversies
of what others perceived of Eleanor Roosevelt, she was truly a woman who understood her power and
used it to reach and support others and to have a voice for those who lacked it. Although she had to
overcome many difficulties and tribulations, historians state that; it is difficult to overstate the impact
of Eleanor Roosevelt of the history of the twenty century women not only in America, but also the
world and rank her the most significant First Lady and most influential American Eleanor Roosevelt
was born into a wealthy, but dysfunctional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she had worked in the National Consumers League before she was married; which promoted
the rights of women; after World War I, Eleanor Roosevelt realized the power and influence she
obtained as First Lady of the United States and desired to help those who were helpless. She worked
with the International Congress of Working Women and the Women s International League of Peace
and Freedom; which promoted the end to poverty and war. The friendships made through these
societies not only shaped her understanding of the importance and equality of all people, but
dramatically changed her life forever. She was fully committed to American politics and human rights
and worked with women rights groups around the nation for women to become involved and to be part
of the New Deal. Eleanor Roosevelt encouraged women to be part of the union, limited the hours and
employer forced a woman to work, and fought for the rights for women to vote. She continuously
encouraged women to stand up for their rights and stated of their capability to do the work of that men
could accomplish; like joining the military. Even after the end of the White House Eleanor continued
to promote women s equality and believed that women had special qualities that made the
peacemakers and mothers, but also believed these qualities made them fine

Ketchup Bottle Analysis
Everything seems to be cheaper in bulk and pretty recently, everyone seems to be catching on. With
the help of retail stores like Costco and Sam s Club, buying in bulk has become easier than ever for
any one. Taking less frequent shopping trips to the grocery store and saving gas seems convenient,
until you have a set of 15 large ketchup bottles that expire in two weeks and have three of them sitting
on the counter next to the stainless steel stain remover by the stove because of a lack of space in the
pantry. Of course, there are some instances where buying in bulk is reasonable. A pack of 15 large
ketchup bottles could be very well bought for a restaurant owner who wishes to have a ketchup bottle
at each table of his restaurant, or for

The Waffle House Essay
The Waffle House
It s late one Friday night. You, accompanied by a select group of your closest friends, drive down the
interstate, wanting desperately to be at home in the warmth of your bed. Suddenly, the lot of us sees
the sign. Like a beacon it is, summoning us to it like proverbial moths to a flame. Forgetting about the
need for sleep, we turn onto the off ramp, a string of drool dripping down and off of your chin. Waffle
House, we say with a gleam in our eyes, we have arrived. What follows will be one of the most
important events of our adult lives: a tireless ritual continuing into infinity all across the nation s good
expanse.
The Waffle House is without a doubt one of the last surviving institutions of ... Show more content on

Our struggle, however, is forgotten once the waitress finally arrives, casually sauntering over to us
with looks of total indifference. She stuffs her loose and falling hair back up into her gaudy, burgundy
cloth hat.
So, whaddyallhave? she asks, waiting for us to decipher her strange and jumbled dialect. More often
than not, the only reason we come here is to order what Waffle House is most famous for, and that (as
if you needed to be told) is coffee. Waffle House coffee is a mystical brew with high caffeine content
and an identifiable taste. No other restaurant s coffee is as desirable, because only Waffle House s has
that real man, industrial strength flavor. Grumpily, the waitress stomps away, aware that her tip will be
far less than generous.
Anyone who knows anything about the politics behind the Waffle House experience also knows that
there are definite rules and guidelines that dictate how the course of events is to be played out during
the span of a single visit. This routine begins with the arrival of the much anticipated cups of coffee,
continues with pleasant conversation and playful intercourse amongst the customers, and culminates
with the paying of the check and the inevitable departure. Our Waffle House chef makes the claim that
the people who frequent the restaurant are, for the most part, regulars and that they all seem to

Power Of Conflict
Conflict is a confrontation between two or more people who are trying to attain different goals,
however it is possible for both parties to have compatible goals, but only perceive their goals to be
incompatible. Conflict will then result in some kind of tension between the parties, oftentimes due to
each party perceiving some sort of resource to be scarce. Conflict and resources are semi
interdependent because the if someone believes a specific resource to be scarce, they will engage in
conflict with another party whom they believe to possess that resource. Power is something intangible
that someone holds that gives them authority over someone or something. Power is present in every
relationship; between friends it is usually equal, between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people use their own resource currency to their advantage to manipulate other people, for
example by threatening to kick your child out of the house and thus denying them shelter. On a much
larger scale, resource currency has been the cause of the majority of wars in our world s history.
Reaching as far back as around 2700 BCE, King Gilgamesh of Uruk marched on his neighbors in an
attempt to procure cedarwood, a resource which he needed in order to build a temple. In present day,
many wars are fought specifically over the resource of oil, between nations that have oil and the
nations that want it. In fact, humans are by far not the only species to initiate conflict because of
resources. It is common knowledge that animals across the world fight each other for food and water.
Many animals even hunt one another. However, there are more advanced examples of resource
warfare in the animal kingdom. Macaque monkeys, who largely reside in Asia and the Middle East,
live in tribes that have an inner hierarchy, similar to some human tribal societies. Oftentimes, if one
macaque tribe finds an area that would be beneficial to inhabit, with plentiful food sources, but
another macaque tribe is already inhabiting the area, the two tribes will then engage in a turf war in

Three Technological Changes To Photography In The Last 200... ________________________________________________________________ What have been three technological changes to photography in the last 200 years? 1. Color Photography, known as the first durable color photograph taken by Thomas Sutton, but James Clerk Maxwell did the real work. James Clerk Maxwell was a mathematical physicist, he worked out everything to take this photograph of The Tartan Ribbon, Thomas simply pressed the shutter button. 2. The Polaroid, the first real camera ever made, (meaning you didn t need a long exposure time, as well as didn t have to develop the photo in a dark room.) • 3. System Build Project Management Info Systems Essay System Build Project Management Info Systems Professor Hammett Kohl s is a former employer of mine, for which I have designed a system of organization to better help them with their inventory management. The problem Kohl s is having lies in the back overstock rooms. There are so many products stocked back there, it can be very tough some days to help a customer find what they are looking for. Also, the other problem is that the employee does not know if the product is in the back room before even spending the time looking. The issue at hand is Kohl s wants the customers to have a happy experience shopping and hopefully come back again. If the customer can t find what they came into find, or have to wait for long periods of time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The current major system already used by Kohl s is their specialized inventory system they currently have on their customer service computer. The new inventory control system will work with this old one, but will have many new up to the minute features. With the current system, if a customer asks an employee about inventory, that employee directs them to customer service desk to look it up on a computer. There is only one computer in the back of the store and usually one employee working, so the customer usually ends up waiting, at times too long. The part of the new inventory system that would be compatible with the current system will be the systems used by Kohl s stores that allow them to see each other s inventory. The current system only shows if they have the product and how many are left in any Kohl s store. This system is only updated every 24 48 hours, which can be too long of a delay to help the customers at times. The new system would be updated after every purchase and also keep track of which part of the store the product is in, whether it the product is on the floor or in the back room. The new system would also have a computer in each department for the convenience of the workers and customers. This will prevent a worker from needing to run all the way to the back room and search while the customer is waiting, and also prevent them from having to send the customer to the back of store to ask customer service about their product. Before I began my research on being a Medical Sonographer, I already had a pretty good idea at some of the things they do. They mainly do ultrasounds on babies, to see the growth and health of the baby. They also do ultrasounds on all different people, if they re in pain and they need to determine the problem. Their job might seem easy; sometimes it is, but the other times when we discover something wrong with the patient you have to keep it in. You are not allowed to tell them what you just found out; only the doctor can do so. It s very heartbreaking for them to do baby ultrasounds because sometimes, for some unknown reason something happens to that baby and it s hard to keep that bottled up and act like nothing s wrong in front of their parents. I wanted to find out what this job requires and what kind of education i need to obtain to get a job for this career. I also wanted to find out the employment outlook, the estimated salary, and jobs in Mississippi for this career. The first place I went to find my information was referred to by my teacher, where I found every answer I needed and more. The website I found my information on is called mschoices.com. It gave me my complete job outlook, requirements, and the salary of a Medical Sonographer. • 5. Creative And Practical Skills Essay Introduction According to the proposed theory of human intelligence and its development (Sternberg, 1999a), a common set of processes underlies all aspects of intelligence. These processes are hypothesized to be universal. These processes are applied to different kinds of tasks and situations depending on whether a given problem requires practical skills and creative skills. Practical skills used to implement, apply, or put into practice ideas in real world contexts. It involves individuals applying their abilities to the kinds of daily problems they confront on the job or at home. Practical intelligence is the application of the components of intelligence to experience to: adapt to, (b) shape, and (c) select environments. In contrast with practical skills, creative skills used to create, invent, discover, imagine, suppose, or hypothesize. Tests of creative intelligence go beyond tests of analytical intelligence in measuring performance on tasks that require individuals to deal with relatively novel situations. Sternberg has shown that assessing a range of abilities beyond that assessed by conventional tests of intelligence allows one to tap sources of individual differences measured little or not at all by these tests (Sternberg, 1985). It is also true that people are either practically or creatively skilful or they have these both skills innate with them. But in consideration to its value in day to day life, practical skill can be considered more important than creative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Blindness In King Lear Essay The Shakespearean tragedy, King Lear, is a significant play that explores the concept of blindness whilst communicating the importance of the theme for the characters King Lear and Earl of Gloucester. Blindness is in literary terms is defined as the inability of the eye to see, however in Shakespeare s play blindness is perceived to be a mental flaw that people possess and is the catalyst for false decisions that eventually place the two characters into emotions of despair and regret. In the play, Lear s self delusion and his inability to determine between right or wrong and genuine or fake, leads him to a remorseful state. The prominent theme of blindness is explored throughout the play and in Act 1 Scene 1, responders are able to sight the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gloucester s two sons; the legitimate and righteous Edgar and the illegitimate, disguised devil , Edmund, both whom Gloucester loves equally however due to his bastard son, he is blinded and misunderstands Edgar. This act of blindness can be sighted in Act 1, Scene 2 as Gloucester is blinded by Edmond who had given him a letter that he wrote himself, but presents in Edgar s perspective. Gloucester is speaking to his son Edmund in anger and shock as he did not expect another side to Edgar. Without further investigating the situation, Gloucester immediately believes what Edmund tells him and concludes that Edgar is a villain . Gloucester s failure to seek both sides of this story before placing all his trust into Edmund s letter demonstrates how Gloucester blinds himself from the truth through ignorance. Gloucester s misconception of the truth due to his lack of consideration causes him to misconceive the true nature of both his sons. Through the use of repetition whilst cursing Edgar, it is evident that Gloucester has concluded that his legitimate son, Edgar, is the villain , without any further investigation. He states, O villain, villain! His very opinion in the letter! Abhorred villain! Unnatural, detested, brutish villain! Worse than brutish! Go, sirrah, seek him. I ll appre hend him. Abominable villain! Where is he? The repetitive use of villain , whilst Gloucester curses Edgar and makes it clear that he has fallen into Edmond s deception. This also suggests Gloucester s gullibility, which is his inability and mental flaw that Edmond deviously takes advantage of in seek of power. The concept of blindness is explored in this scene between Gloucester and Edmund, making it evident that placing trust in people can result in much suffering, which Shakespeare has ... • 7. Essay On Ozymandias Current pop culture has been influenced by great works of literary merit for as long as we can remember. Ozymandias, being the astounding poem it is, evidently had a lot to give to producers, writers, and musicians hundreds of years after its release. Percy Shelley produced various ideas to take from the poem; from whom the poem was about to when the poem was written. Each influenced piece of pop culture uses Ozymandias in completely different ways; making Ozymandias an incredibly versatile poem. Breaking bad, a hit television series was greatly influenced by Ozymandias. So much so, they created an episode named Ozymandias, and it came complete with the star of the show reciting the poem himself. • 8. Personal Statement Of Engineering In Electronics And... It is no doubt that Engineering plays a vital role in our society. This is magnified in a time when the world is faced with so many significant problems climate change, population density to name just two. It is for this reason that I am so excited about the prospect of studying Engineering, especially at the point of so many major advances in technology, in AI and nanomaterials for example. In the future, I hope to help to lead these advances and solve these problems. My interest in building projects first started when I began studying Electronics in Year 9. I remember the joy I felt after making some Christmas lights flash in different patterns. Though it was simple, seeing how I could genuinely make physical changes to my own home brought me great pleasure. As I became more knowledgeable in Electronics and Engineering, I began building far more impressive projects. In Year 11, I assembled and coded a quadcopter, for which I was awarded a CREST Gold award. During the course of Year 12, I made a facial recognition system using a Raspberry Pi and open source libraries. These projects have showed me the practical aspects of Engineering, particularly in how important it is to be able to troubleshoot. [more detail] [A book quote, e.g. as X says in Y ; ]. Another major project I have worked on recently involved building a suite of different LEDs that can have features such as its flicker rate and intensity configured to a very precise level. This formed part of a larger research project investigating how animals react to types of light. The project, done as part of a Nuffield Research Placement was very different to my previous ventures as it involved dozens of different people with a wide range of skillsets. I found that this project developed not only my ability to work as a team [example], but also showed me how research works at the PhD level. Of course, I understand that Engineering is not just about building projects in the garage and I have been actively seeking to gain a more diverse appreciation of what constitutes Engineering. I recently attended a four day Headstart course at Warwick University which proved to be an enlightening experience because of the amount of new material that was covered, ... • 12. Family Capitalism And The 19th Century Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early 20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century, only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008). The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm. • 13. The Territorial Status Of Puerto Rico While some groups tend to separate themselves, differences are what make humans inherently similar. According to Mahatma Gandhi, Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization . Even though some may feel different than others, this does not mean that everyone cannot join together with time. If people of different backgrounds and perspectives unite, they can overcome any divisive barriers constructed by the past. Sometimes, barriers can exist in places where one would least expect them, even in seemingly united nations. One example of a hidden divide present in the Western world is the territorial status of Puerto Rico. Despite American ownership of the island, Puerto Rican citizens are not granted the same rights and privileges as citizens of the 50 states. Despite Puerto Rico s long American history and attempts to gain statehood status, Puerto Ricans are still treated differently by the federal government. This ought to be changed. Puerto Rico should be granted statehood status as a result of the fact that it would improve the territory s stability, strengthen American moral and social dynamics, and benefit the entire American populous. The statehood debate can be somewhat contentious, but there are some facts that both sides can agree to be true. The first is that the social and cultural dynamics of Puerto Rico and the 50 states are somewhat different. Many fear that Puerto Rico is too culturally distinct to be ... Berumen continues as racism and prejudice festered and flourished in films, and people of darker skins were the primary victims: Latins, Blacks, American Indians, and Asians (p.13) The racism towards Latin American also goes back before the cinematic revolution, as the Anglos see themselves as a better race and ethnic group then the lotions, which the idea is transmitted to film screens later on. • 18. The Battle Of Good And Bad In Plato s Crito The battle of good and bad has been a debated topic for thousands of years, a fact evident in Plato s dialogue, Crito. To become aware of the pretenses for this argument, it is significant to understand the meanings of the words good and bad. Good is a word referring to the virtue of an individual, a term meaning something is desired or pleasurable, or it can denote the moral right of a person or object. The term bad has negative connotations; it is everything good is not. According to Merriam Webster, bad can even be described as decayed or unwanted, but particularly, it is important to note that bad can be synonymous with the expression evil. However, Socrates refuses to go with Crito and his other loyal friends and family, and provides his typical elusive reasoning as to why he cannot, even seemingly content with the prospect of death. He seems to reason that he will not change his ideology and that he would rather die, than change his opinion. • 19. Music Piracy Is Not A Victimless Crime Essay Many people have a different way at looking at things, especially when it comes to pirating music. Music piracy is the illegal copying or downloading of music without the consent of the artist as well as the recording company that made the song. The question that many might argue is whether or not music piracy is a victimless crime. This subject influenced a journalist by the name of Charles W. Moore. Charles Moore has an interesting story. Ten years after graduating from the University of Michigan in 1947, he began attending Princeton University, where he achieved his master s and doctoral degree. Moore has a great collection of lifelong friends because he tends to move frequently. Later in life he settles down a bit and becomes a writer. In Moore s essay, he argues that the illegal downloading of music is not a victimless crime. In fact, about seventy percent of online users do not care whether the music they listen to, the book they read, or the movie they watch, is pirated or not. Although the author s essay contains precise information and detail, it also has some flaws that do not help benefit his writing. For instance, his transitions do not flow well, lack of correct research, no valid arguments, and his introduction and concluding paragraphs are lousy. In order to be a good writer or have an effective essay, there is a requirement of a consistent flow of thought and its overall transitions throughout it. • 20. Cinderella Short Story Essay Through a historical analysis, we see that many aspects of the story are representative of the time. The story is set in Germany in the 1800s. To start, the story begins with the death of Cinderella s birth mom who became sick . . . and died (Grimm). This is because death was quite common in the mid 1800s [and] life expectancies were only in the high thirties or early forties (Huber). Soon after the father took himself another wife (Grimm). This is because in the 1800s second wives were quite common, (P. Smith 107) as the main role of the man was to marry to produce a male heir. Since the father only had Cinderella, a daughter, it was his role to remarry and have a male to inherit his land and belongings. Remarrying was also a norm of the time for child rearing. While the role of the man was to produce an heir, the role of the woman was to take care of the children. Taking care of the children was typically in the hands of the mother (Eidson). The stepmother s role would have been to watch over the children as the husband was gone. This occurs several times throughout the story as the stepmother watches over Cinderella as the husband goes to the fair . . . and festivals (Grimm). Women would remarry because they were limited in resources (P. Smith 107) without a man, so it is not unusual the stepmother remarried as well. By remarrying, the stepmother is provided for by the husband. The husband provides a home for the girls and buys dresses, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the specific food traditions throughout Christianity and Judaism differ greatly, the role of food in these holidays is largely the same. Food is imbued with a sense of remembrance and reverence, creating a level of similarity between two very distinct traditions. Hanukkah, or the Festival of Lights, is a central holiday in modern Judaism. Turkey is common, although other large birds are often substituted. In predominantly Catholic parts of Europe, the traditional Christmas dinner is The Vigil, a feast comprised of seven varieties of fish either baked or fried in oil. This stems from the Catholic tradition of avoiding meat on some holidays, and incorporates a lesson on Catholic numerology into the meal. While there has been some effort to incorporate Christian lessons and stories into Christmas foods, such as candy canes, the spiritual aspect of Christmas food is still fairly nebulous in its presentation. Because it draws from such diverse cultural backgrounds, as opposed to the less varied cultural heritage of Judaism, food is not as highly valued as a teaching tool. That is not to say there is no religious motivation behind Christmas food, or that there are no parallels to traditional Hanukkah foods, but these parallels and motivations are superficial at best. Instead, one must look at the overarching themes behind Christmas and Hanukkah food traditions in order to find a connection. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be invested into water saving irrigation methods. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water. Raising The Age Limit For Teen Drivers Patience is a Virtue: Raising the Age Limit for Teen Drivers One of the most anticipated moments in a teenager s life is when they finally pass the driving exam and get to stare into their own fresh, gleaming, brand new driver s license. This is certainly a life changing moment for any teenager, but not in the way they would expect. Sadly, car accidents with teens at fault cause more injuries and deaths than any other demographic in the world. While getting a license at 15 or 16 may be a commonplace milestone of the American way, the associated risks of having young teens driving without restriction are simply not worth the privilege of being able to drive at such an early age. Teens simply aren t developed enough to reliably handle the mental necessities of operating a vehicle, just as they aren t developed enough to make adult decisions entirely on their own. Studies from the American Academy of Pediatrics found that, there is evidence from MRI research that the prefrontal cortex (the area of the brain responsible for planning, impulse control, and executive decision making) does not mature fully until the early to mid 20s . Due to this, teens are also less likely to understand the dangers of risky behavior while driving a car. Teens are natural risk takers and participate in many other risk taking behaviors in the same years they re getting their permits and licenses. The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that there is an intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe, explains the existence of the universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of cosmological arguments is that the world and everything in it is dependent on something other than itself for its existence. It explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause, and that this first cause was itself uncaused. Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas rejection of infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating on contingency, which he discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas, argued that there are things in the universe which are contingent, for example, us we would not have existed if our parents had not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is self explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore, we are forced to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a cause which is self explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its own existence a necessary being. The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved mover , like Aquinas suggested, there is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the universe is gratuitous without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning Everything is gratuitous. Gender roles are behaviours that a culture would typically expect from both male and females (Myers, 2014, pg.159). Some sites on the skull have shown a wide range within sex variation making them less reliable for sex determination. For example, a projecting nuchal crest is typically associated with a male skull but can also appear on a female skull, similarly non projecting nuchal crests, typically associated with a female skull, can also appear on a male skull (Gulekon and Turgut, 2003; Klepinger, 2006). Furthermore Meindl et al. • 35. The Repercussions Of Ignorance In The Chrysalids By John... The Repercussions of Ignorance Martin Luther King said, Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity (Bell). The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is set in the future after an apocalyptic event known as Tribulation, causing a lack of knowledge of the past. The main community, Waknuk, is prejudiced and ignorant. The narrator, David, recalls the unfolding of the dangerous predicament caused by his society s ignorance. In this novel, the author presents that ignorance results in adversity and ultimately, a society s downfall. The Waknukians ignorance creates a hostile environment, causes disagreement, and is the agent of their own defeat. The Waknukians ignorance leads to their abomination of Mutants, creating a very hostile environment. Their ignorance and lack of knowledge cause them to rely on the only remains of the Old People and are used for direction in their lives. When speaking of Nicholson s Repentances David says, Frequent references to these texts had made me familiar with the words long before I was able to read, in fact I am not sure that they did not give me my first reading lessons. I knew them by heart, just as I knew others elsewhere in the house, which said things like: THE NORM IS THE WILL OF GOD (18). This represents the environment that the Waknukians are exposed to early in life, and this is evident when David says that he was familiar with the words long before [he] was able to read. It shows how significant these morals are to the Waknukians, and how in the absence of knowledge, they preach the only things that they know. This creates an image from a young age of what Mutants are like and creates a hostile and antagonistic society. The people of Waknuk are very vigilant because of their upbringing, and what they have been taught is right. David says, People in our district had a very sharp eye for the odd, or the unusual, so that even my left handedness caused slight disapproval (5). This is important because it gives insight into the Waknukians views and opinions, and the mentality of Waknuk becomes clear. Some examples of this are the heat of the sun, birds and the ocean. In the myth, Daedalus was watching seagulls fly around and got an idea. As said in the myth, ...watching the seagulls... he thought of a plan for himself and his young son Icarus, who was captive with him. He got inspiration from nature on a way to escape the island he and his son, Icarus, were trapped on. Both the myth and the poem stress how Icarus fell when he flew too close to the sun, causing the wax keeping the wings together to melt. The research attempts to examine the relationship between the alignment of home and school beliefs or expectations as it relates to the push to limit gender stereotypes in the classrooms of young preschool age students. Understanding how gender stereotypes affect preschool age children s perceptions of what they feel is acceptable gender behavior in school compared to what these children feel is acceptable at home. This project s researchers will collect descriptive non numerical data to interpret preschool age students and their parents views and attitudes. Qualitative research methods are the best method for my capstone project, as I am attempting to understand the attitudes and opinions of individuals that cannot be quantified by a number. According to Ary, Jacobs, Sorensen, Walker (2015), qualitative methods focus on understanding social phenomena from the perspective of human participants in natural settings (p. 24). Both boys are unable to stop thinking about protecting the other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the boys to testify to the value of friendship. When they realize what has happened to them, they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of the fight, but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys leave the ring arm in arm. More often than not, the only reason we come here is to order what Waffle House is most famous for, and that (as if you needed to be told) is coffee. Waffle House coffee is a mystical brew with high caffeine content and an identifiable taste. No other restaurant s coffee is as desirable, because only Waffle House s has that real man, industrial strength flavor. Grumpily, the waitress stomps away, aware that her tip will be far less than generous. Power Of Conflict Conflict is a confrontation between two or more people who are trying to attain different goals, however it is possible for both parties to have compatible goals, but only perceive their goals to be incompatible. Conflict and resources are semi interdependent because the if someone believes a specific resource to be scarce, they will engage in conflict with another party whom they believe to possess that resource. Many people use their own resource currency to their advantage to manipulate other people, for example by threatening to kick your child out of the house and thus denying them shelter. On a much larger scale, resource currency has been the cause of the majority of wars in our world s history. Reaching as far back as around 2700 BCE, King Gilgamesh of Uruk marched on his neighbors in an attempt to procure cedarwood, a resource which he needed in order to build a temple. In present day, many wars are fought specifically over the resource of oil, between nations that have oil and the nations that want it. In fact, humans are by far not the only species to initiate conflict because of resources. It is common knowledge that animals across the world fight each other for food and water. Many animals even hunt one another. However, there are more advanced examples of resource warfare in the animal kingdom. Macaque monkeys, who largely reside in Asia and the Middle East, live in tribes that have an inner hierarchy, similar to some human tribal societies.
