My First Love Is Doing Business
My first love was doing business. With my family operating a restaurant when I was a child, I
unconsciously learned how to run an operation and deal with customers within the business
surroundings. It would be easy to trace its origins back to my mother, who was a restaurant manager,
and while she definitely encouraged me, I had a natural drive to unlock the power of doing business,
which gave me a lens through which to view the world around me. During the summer of my junior
year in high school, I hosted my first charity bazaar, a charity sale for self customized T shirts for a
local orphanage that sponsored by my high school. Given much advance publicity, I did well at the
sale, making over $100 in an hour. That accomplishment made me realize my passion toward
marketing and motivated me to pursue a Bachelor degree in Business Management during my
undergraduate studies.
When I enrolled at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), marketing was my core interest: it has
provided numerous opportunities for hands on experience from class projects, such as predictive
analytics with software like SPSS and Tableau, and strategic case analysis with marketing tools like
SWOT and Porter s five force. In addition, with my supporting minor in psychology, I also gain a
psychological perspective and deeply understand how customers are attracted to, and persuaded to,
purchase merchandise as well as how companies build lasting relationships with those customers.
Besides, after taking a

Quiver Of A Shrub In California Summary
Sumpretation of The Quiver of a Shrub in California Vaclav Havel, the author of the speech The
Quiver of a Shrub in California , is the former prime minister of the Czech Republic. Throughout the
speech, he gives examples of how his country has been ruined by people whom have been caught up
in trying to succeed and have forgotten that they are not superior to all living entities. Communist
rulers have deceived the people of their countries into doing jobs in which are actually hurting
themselves. The arrogance of man and the neglect they have shown to the Earth must come to an end
before the country, the land, and the people themselves do. The human race has adopted the idea that
they are more significant than their surroundings. They have forgotten the fact that they are not all
knowing; that there are still unthinkable amounts of things to be discovered and that the world will
continue to be a mystery to them (Havel line 28). The author is trying to express that if the world stays
accustomed to, and abides by, the concept that humans are superior to other living creatures and if
they live their lives with only the motivation of self success in mind, there will no longer be a world
for them to aspire on. Humans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, instead of interacting with the entities that humans were arranged with in a co adapting
manner, they have decided that they are the most important. The author strongly disagrees with
anthropocentrism and believes that every living thing on earth is just as necessary for the survival of
the earth as a whole as the next thing. Most humans have gotten the idea that the other species
inhabiting earth were merely placed here to support the humans lifestyle. While humans have done
many amazing things on the earth, the author states that these discoveries and inventions would not be
possible without the earth (Havel par.

Seven Rules For Observational Research
Seven rules for observational research: how to watch people do stuff
Observational research, ethnography, or, in plain English, watching people do stuff, seems to be hot
these days. Newsweek touts it ( quot;Enough Talk, quot; August 18, 1997), which means it s getting to
be mainstream, but I find that a lot of clients aren t very comfortable with it.
Certainly, compared to traditional focus groups, mini groups, or one on one interviews, observational
research accounts for a pitiably small portion of most research budgets. Yogi Berra s famous line that
quot; You can observe a lot just by watching quot; is widely acknowledged, but observation remains
the most under utilized qualitative technique in marketing research.
One of the reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They re making lunch for their kids, the same way I would if I were in their shoes. They re waiting for
their cars to be serviced, the same way I do. If my clients are along, they begin to get very antsy at this
point, because they re seeing the same thing I am: nothing out of the ordinary.
Rule 1 for observational researchers: quot;Ordinary quot; is what you re there to observe. If you don t
go looking for something extraordinary, you won t be so anxious when it doesn t appear. What you re
really looking for are the insights hidden in quot;ordinary. quot;
Observation gives you the chance to answer those questions such as quot; What do you do when that
happens? quot; that come up all the time in focus groups. Suddenly you re not restricted by
respondents memories, or their reluctance to discuss the issue in a group, or their desire to conceal
what they really do in order to present a more admirable face to the rest of the group.
Nothing people do is quot;natural quot;
The first time you try observational research, I guarantee that you ll find yourself wondering what
there is about the things you re seeing that requires an explanation. You may watch people walking
into a retail environment. They ll walk in, look around to get their bearings, walk over to a display or
proceed down an aisle, maybe pick up an item or two or compare prices. quot;Of course, quot; you ll
say to yourself, quot;that s just what I d do in their shoes. It s just common

Persuasive Essay Introverts
I love entertaining. Surprised? Yes, while I m an introvert, there are times when I feel the need to have
friends and family around. Usually those times include birthday parties and sometimes when I just
need some adult time from having all the kids around. There are however, times when I m the one
being invited to a party and I never go anywhere empty handed. Whether it s taking an appetizer or a
bottle of wine, the get together is always better when you arrive with something for the host, or
everyone there. Here s a general rule of thumb that you should always live by, NEVER go to a get

Children With Special Needs Children
She looks so normal , this is a typical response that a mother often hears about her child with special
needs. Special is a term that is described as different . Some people may look at a child with special
needs and feel sympathy while others lack the knowledge. For my child development class, I was
assigned to conduct an interview with a mother who has a special needs child. I was one of the many
that lack knowledge of special needs children because I did not know what this mother had to face.
While doing this interview I have learned that it takes a special person to take care of a special child.
This child has a disease called NOMID, which stands for neonatal onset multisystem inflammatory
disease, this disease causes inflammation and tissue damage affecting the nervous system, skin, and
joint. This interview has taught me that some parents will face many difficulties while raising a special
needs child, but they will do whatever it takes to help the child overcome challenges that they may
face everyday.
On January 20, 2016 I interviewed Jasmine, a good friend of mine about her daughter Emily that has
special needs. She discussed the many challenges she has had to face. This interview took place in
Victorville, where she lives with her husband and Emily, for about two hours long. Jasmine and I were
the only two people in the house while this interview was taking place, allowing her to express herself
more comfortably with me. Jasmine also has two older daughters,

Dance Salsa Theory
It was interesting seems people come together and dance different music. I heard playing salsa and
tango music. I have watched movies about tango, but watching normal people dancing tango was
shocking. I was very impressed with an older couple dancing tango. They were dancing and at the
same time they were connecting with each other. They looked like a regular boring couple, but
dancing tango they look like they were intimate with each other. They did the basic steps, but they
were swinging around together at the same time. It was really good. In my part, I wanted to dance
salsa because I was raised dancing salsa, but for some reason I could not dance salsa because I was
thinking about the steps. My theory was to enjoy the music and dance to

Moral Education Essay
Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is
taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The
critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining
moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character
education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits
(Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning
regarding justice and fairness.
Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and
Gilligan. Kohlberg had shown that the average female attained a moral judgment rating of stage three
(good boy nice girl), while adolescent males ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stay true to his religious beliefs which does not embodies those of the Christian faith. Should Jaheem
participate in a Christian worship or should Jaheem stay true to his religious beliefs and be branded as
ungodly? This situation can be best addressed by eliminating the practice of religion from public
schools. Students attend schools mainly to be educated in areas of study deemed valuable by society,
not to be forced to worship in the religion of the institution. This dilemma can easily be resolved if
students were only subjected to academic knowledge and were not subjected to unwanted religious

Empiricism and Experience
Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How
can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone
know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is
red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in
which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine
knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean
sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Without this,
the sponge would remain clean and be void of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world
independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses arguments
discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does not believe that
reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate knowledge that we are not
aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose the mind to be, as we say, white
paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to be furnished? When man has painted
on it with endless variety, how does it have all the materials of reason and knowledge to this question I
answer, in one word, from experience. In that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it
ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore, without these experiences Locke believes that we would not
possess the concept of reason and because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the
world. Berkeley s answer to the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through
experience and not reason that we have any knowledge of reality. Since our experiences differ from
each individual, reality too will differ for each individual. These ideas as he calls them are the
concrete contents of our minds. These ideas are provided through experience and not reason.
Therefore, we can not posses knowledge through our reasoning because that reasoning would be based

Knowledge Management Strategy And Metrics
Knowledge Management Strategy Metrics Knowledge management often involves isolating and
planning intellectual assets within an organization, producing new knowledge for competitive
advantages within the organization, making vast amounts of corporate information accessible.
Knowledge management can be hard to interpret or explain. How would a nurse or doctor define
health care succinctly? How would a CEO explain management ? Each of these areas is very complex,
with many sub areas of specialization. This in turn leads to the question What is Knowledge
Management Strategy Metrics ?
What Is Knowledge? Some may ask, aren t we managing knowledge already? Truth is, no! We are
actually just making a really huge mess of managing information. Knowledge has two simple
explanations of interest. The first part deals with a defined body of information. Depending on the
meaning, the body of the information might consist of facts, opinions, ideas, theories, principles, and
models. Knowledge also refers to a person s state of being with respect to some body of information.
These states include; ignorance, awareness, familiarity, understanding, facility, and so on (Barclay, R.,
Murray, P. (1997). In traditional perceptions of the role of knowledge in business organizations, tacit
knowledge is often viewed as the real key to getting things done and creating new value. There are
two forms of knowledge that can be found in any organization:
Explicit Formal codified

Film Adaptation of Hamlet
Adapted from Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the film Hamlet was produced in 1996. It was directed by
Kenneth Branagh. The main characters include Kenneth Branagh who starred as Prince Hamlet, Kate
Winslet as Ophelia, Derek Jacobi as King Claudius, Julie Christie as Queen Gertrude, Richard Briers
as Polonius, Nicholas Farrell as Horatio and Michael Maloney as Laertes. In the middle of the film
there is a scene where Prince Hamlet is shown alone in a room contemplating whether or not he
should avenge his father s death, how he should go about doing and how unfortunate it is that he finds
himself in this position. At that moment, Hamlet is so torn that he appears to be going mad. So much
so that when the girl he loves, Ophelia, whom is sent by King Claudius and Queen Gertrude to speak
to Hamlet, approached him, he declared to her that he never loved her. He pressed her hard against the
mirror forcing her to face who she has become. He sent her away telling her and she should enter a
nunnery and that it would please him to ban marriage altogether. I believe that Hamlet s delay in
seeking revenge for his father shows indeed a strength in his character. That is because it proves that
Hamlet was a moral and rational man, he did not remain inactive and Hamlet was a man ahead of his
time (Utter 140) First, Hamlet was a highly intelligent, moral and rational man. I believe that was the
reason behind his procrastination. A moral and rational man does not take the decision to kill a person

Communism And The End Of History
Humankind is constantly striving to reach a point in history where war ceases and every person on
earth unites under a single cause. Articles like The Dell Theory, The End of History, and The Return of
Geopolitics all offer a unique viewpoint on what will prevent war in the future, what the ideal political
system is, and how to reach it. First, The End of History argues that when all countries unite together
in practicing liberal democracy, humankind will have reached the end point of ideological evolution.
In addition, The Dell Theory is about a man who orders a Dell laptop and proceeds to track the
process of its creation to a myriad of countries. He uses this experiment to try to prove that all
countries are tied in some way by trade and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Finance At The University Of Florida
Page 1: Personal Reflection 1. I am studying Finance at the University of Florida because not only do
I have a creative side but an intellectual side of me too. Crazily, mathematics comes naturally to me
and is also a huge concept in finance, but finance isn t just numbers, it incorporates various aspects
such as communication, problem solving, and creativity. Finance unites my limitless passion for math
and joins it with some of my personality traits, which is the best of both worlds. More specifically, in
my upbringing, money was tight and my parents always stressed when facing financial issues. My
background catalyzed my admiration to the effect the power of money holds when used properly.
Finding the best financial effects and awareness of all options to make well informed financial
decisions to assist an individual or a company in the most beneficial way seems rewarding and
intriguing to me. So, all of these elements have directed me into my interest in Finance. 2. Ideally,
successful, inspired, independent, and skilled are just a few ideas that describe my picture perfect
image of what I imagine of my life 5 years ahead of today. After I receive my bachelor s degree in
Finance I plan to pursue higher education in a Master s program for Finance. I would love to do my
Master s at a high profile school ranging from University of Florida to New York University. A vision

Worlds Of Wonder In The Northern Colonies Summary
In David D. Hall s essay Worlds of Wonder in the Northern Colonies and T.H. Breen s Worlds of

reliable due to its religious reliability of tradition.

Biography of Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson was born April 29, 1958 to a working class family in Gary, Indiana. His parents, Joe

very musically inclined. Michael s father played guitar in a small R B band, his mother sang
frequently, and his brothers often sand and played with their father s guitar (Biography on Michael

Dangerous was an album of New Jack Swing which was a combination of R B, Jazz, and funk. This
was the most sold New Jack Swing record of all time. Dangerous not only was significant because of
the record it broke but all profits that were earned form the tour were donated to different charities
including the charity that Michael Jackson ran (Michael Jackson Biography 2014).
Though after these successful times, Michael Jackson s public opinion turned negative. In 1993,
Michael Jackson was accused of sexual abuse by a thirteen year old boy that Jackson had known.
After a year of these allegations Jackson settled with the family for approximately twenty million

Not only did the sexual abuse allegations change the public s opinion of Jackson but his changing

was aging and wanted to do all he could to stop the process from appearing on his body (Rolling

changing from black to white on a skin pigmentation deficiency. Even as these rumors were

Examples Of Marginalization In Brazil
In the book, the Minister of Education and Health Gustavo Capanema compiled 600 images produced
by Brazilian and European photographers that function as a propaganda effort that uses various
modernist aesthetics to represent the inauguration of the future in the present (Jaguaraibe 82 83).
Meaning that during the Vargas Era, a rapid period of modernization was carried out by Brazil s elite
through the use of the science of eugenics to bring the country to a social modernity, which entailed
the marginalization of the unwanted slum inhabitants, mostly poor blacks, prostitutes, and former
slaves (López Durán 3). The idea of perfecting the country through the exclusion of these marginal
inhabitants can be clearly seen in the Obra Getuliana, which presents an organized progressive future

Meaning, everything in life has it, every story has it; even every little speck of dirt has it. In many

Today s college students are having to change their anticipated day of graduation, because
California s educational system has been hit with a massive budget crisis. This set back has led to

means colleges are able to disperse only the number of Perkins Loans that can be funded by, the
paying back of loans by previous recipients. This loan s purpose is to provide college enrollment for
low and middle income students who cannot pay for their education. The repayment of the loans are
used to create new loans. By the same token, parents and students applying for private student loans
account for a large chunk of higher education financing, but because of the current credit market
crisis,
loan volume has plummeted. As a result, money borrowed by parents, especially through home equity
lines of credit, has dropped drastically as house prices have declined. Moreover, banks lending to
consumers for personal expenses, such as college, has also slowed down making it harder to obtain
these kinds of loans.
At the same time students today face a higher chance of unemployment after graduation. This
is because college

Emile Durkheim Research Paper
There are many reasons why people should still learn about Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Max
Weber Even though they lived long ago they were the three founding fathers of sociology. Karl Marx
was more of an angry man he always wanted to have conflict or commotion; while Emile Durkeim
thinks that everyone is a part of one whole but yet they are all different; and bringing it all back
together was Max Weber. He proposed that the three things in life are power, wealth, and prestige.
Even though they all had fairly different theories they all seem to have become fairly accurate. Which
is why people today should still learn about these scholars even though they aren t around anymore.
The reason why Karl Marx should still be prevalent in today s society is because of how he was able

Durkheim found himself to be fairly similar to Marx because he also was active in politics, oftentimes
finding himself in the minority as a socialist sympathizer(Social theory rewired,2016) As like Marx,
you can see Durkeims teachings now unfold in present day. An example of this would be in the rules
of sociological Method,Durkeim shows how crime is actually normal in society because without it, we
would have no sense of what is morally acceptable. (Social theory rewired,2016)Even though Marx
and Durkeim were eerily alike There was one part where they weren t alike. Marx always had his sails
set for commotion and conflict while Durkheim would ask us to think of social solidarity and stability
as something special to be explained, not as a default or taken for granted experience. (Social theory
rewired,2016) Durkeim talked about how society is more than the sum of the individuals that
comprise it; it includes social relationships, social patterns, and forms of social government.
(Dillon,2010, pg.81) This means that Durkeim was trying to state that, society has its own

Sensorineural Hearing Loss Essay
Hearing loss can be caused by many different causes, some of which can be successfully treated with
medicine or surgery, depending on the disease process. Sensorioneural hearing loss is when hearing
loss is due to problems of the inner ear, also known as nerve related hearing loss (ASHA, 2015). There
are two types of sensorineural hearing loss: congenital and acquired sensorineural hearing loss.
Congenital sensorineural hearing loss happens during pregnancy. Some causes include prematurity,
maternal diabetes, lack of oxygen during birth, genetics, and diseases passed from the mother to the
child in the womb, such as rubella. Acquired sensorineural hearing loss occurs after birth (Clason,
2015). Causes can include, aging, noise, disease and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cochlea contains thousands of outer and inner hair cells that transduce the mechanical energy of
sound into electrical energy and then deliver that electrical energy to the auditory nerve. The hair cells
provide information about the frequency and intensity of the sound. The auditory nerve then transmits
sound information to the brain, where a variety of complex pathways help us decipher what was
actually heard (Jacob, n.d.). Therefore, much of hearing as we perceive it is under the control of the
brain rather than the ear. Most commonly, sensorineural hearing loss is caused by hair cell damage in
the cochlea, but it can also be caused by damage to the auditory nerve. Like it was described above,
sensorineural hearing loss can have a variety of causes (Jacob, n.d.). A lot of different causes will lead
to different symptoms.
These symptoms include trouble following group conversations, muffled conversation sounds, and
dizziness. Also, inability to hear well when there s a lot of background noise, difficulty hearing high
pitched sounds, balance problems, and tinnitus (Falck, 2017). Moreover, some symptoms are not
distinct enough. Some of the symptoms to watch for are listed below by Hearing Aid HealthCare

Erectile Dysfunction In Young Men
Erectile dysfunction in young men has become a serious issue of concern as many young males are
suffering from this disease and the numbers are increasing on a daily basis. Primarily, erectile
dysfunction was associated with adult men who are above 60 years of age; however, research shows
that this disorder can occur in males at any age. But before taking a deeper look into the subject, let s
focus on what erectile dysfunction actually is.
Erectile dysfunction is simply the inability to sustain an erection of the male sexual organ at the time
of sexual intercourse. As a man, it is very crucial for every young male to experience healthy sex life,
and if due to any reasons this doesn t seem a possible, it can be a major reason for depression ... Show

Lifestyle choices: Most of the young men make unhealthy lifestyle choices and are prone to
developing bad habits like smoking or drinking. Even behavioral issues also affect sexual drive as
well. Not only does the consumption of illicit drugs and intoxicating substances like narcotics or
marijuana is also one of the major reasons behind erectile dysfunction in young men.
Erectile dysfunction is a serious problem that needs to be addressed with optimum care, or else it can
lead to several other health problems as well. This is why proper diagnosis and treatment of this
disease is truly important.
How to diagnose erectile dysfunction in young men?
Proper diagnosis of erectile dysfunction or ED is made by performing certain tests. There are mainly
three significant methods of diagnosis and they are as follows:
Getting to know of patient history: Doctors interview the men prior to the treatment to find certain
answers like
* Is it the lack of libido that s causing the dysfunction or its simply premature ejaculation?
* Whether the patient is suffering from any psychological disorder or any relationship issues or not?
* Patient medical

What Does The Lamb Mean
William Blake s The Lamb aims to show an innocent way of looking at the world. The narrator of The
Lamb is asking if the lamb knows who made it, and does so in a way that suggests that whomever
created the lamb is kind, and loves their creation. Gave thee life...bid thee feed...clothing of delight...
These things, when seen from the side of innocence, seem to be gifts to the lamb; things its creator
blessed it with. However, the narrator fails to see a lot of the meaning that their own words have. The
lamb was given life and fed well so that it could grow and be killed for food later. The narrator states
that the lamb s creator, Jesus, also is called a lamb, for he is meek and mild , but fails to see why such
a comparison was made between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Written at the Close of Spring is about, obviously, the end of spring and the beginning of summer.
Smith puts emphasis on how things are fading every flower and garland that made early spring so
beautiful and colorful is now fading away in the heat of summer. All will leave until the next year
comes, and the flowers bloom anew in the new spring. Smith directly compares human virtues like
hope and happiness to the flowers happiness fades under human care and passion like the flowers do

has happiness no second Spring? Smith almost directly states here that happiness does not get a
chance to bloom again, though it is inevitable that it, like the flowers, will fade. This shows her
worldview is closer to The Tyger , but her acknowledgement of the beauty of human emotions,
comparing them to the brightness and colors of flowers, puts her worldview slightly closer to The
Lamb than Mary

Vera Bradley Case
Vera Bradley is a start up company which began from the basement of a home and grew to be a
successful design oriented bags amp; luggage company. As sales grew rapidly, Vera Bradley is
currently facing some issues, one of among which will be addressed in this paper. About Vera Bradley
The company is founded by Barbara Baekgaard and Patricia Miller. They wanted to make functional
bags for everyday use and travel at a price that would give them a broader audience. They first needed
to identify their target audience for which they needed market research. They made their first design
and exhibit them in a trunk show. Performance was good and it was a sign that middle aged women
liked their brand. They also wanted to see whether younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Vera Bradley needs to increase its volume so that it can work with wholesalers. This paper focuses on
the last challenge in the list. Options to Overcome the Challenge Although Barb amp; Pat tested the
product on college girls and received positive feedback, their sales were still focused on middle aged
women between 30 60 years. I think Vera Bradley should enlarge its target audience by focusing on
the younger segment. This should be carried out carefully so to avoid any loss in its current customer
base. Vera Bradley should first renew its market research. They can work with professional firms to
carry out surveys to see what kind of functions they need, what colors they like etc. This is a
requirement as trends in young societies are prone to change. They can also make informal research
with their college student children and their friends. Understanding their needs is the key to the
strategy. Once this is done, Vera Bradley can make new designs to address the audience s needs. I
think new products should be differentiated from the regular Vera Brandley line so that college girls
do not associate the brand with the middle aged audience. * A separate line: Vera Bradley has already
established brand awareness in the market and it is highly probable that young girls perceive the brand
as a middle aged one. Being able to change this perception is vital. So the new

Psychological Truths in Macbeth and the Poem My Last...
I am studying the characters of Macbeth and the Duke; how they can be considered perturbed
characters. The play, Macbeth and poem, My Last Duchess both show psychological truths and
insights into the characters. While the Duke shows himself to be perturbed straight away in the poem,
Macbeth s phrenic deterioration takes place and develops as the play proceeds. Macbeth is a tragic
play indited by Shakespeare during the English Renaissance in 1606. The play is habituated by
Shakespeare in order to make the play more eventful. The play, at the time was considered
controversial. The conception of the committing regicide when killing the king was controversial; the

Duncan, his two slumbering sentinels, Banquo, Lady Macduff and her children and Young Siward.
Lady Macbeth who is Macbeth s wife withal kenned to be dearest partner of greatness but at the

without her there is no play. She is a deeply zealous woman who lusts for power and position. Early in
the play she seems to have a vigorous character even more vigorous than Macbeths. Lady Macbeth
persuades him to contravene his nature and more preponderant judgement. However by the terminus
she is reduced to a piteous figure, trepidacious of the dark. Immediately after she culminates reading
the letter, Lady Macbeth s mind goes to work. The words shalt be magically reflect those of the

Cut And Chip Test Testing
Cut and Chip Test
Ohio Northern University
May, 2016 July, 2016
Background: Cut and chip is a phenomena in tires that manifests itself primarily from prolonged off
road use. As the tires are used off road, the tread compound will be cut by rocks and eventually large
pieces of the tread rubber are chipped off. Current tests involve manufacturing a series of test tires and
sending them to a test track in Texas. The tires are then run on a controlled gravel road. Each set of
tires is run for 1000 miles, 500 each day for two days. In each set of 500 miles, 100 miles are on flint
rock and 400 miles are on the highway. The tires are then ranked visually by multiple engineers to
determine which rubber compounds demonstrate the best cut and chip resistance. Thus, current testing
is expensive, time intensive, and subjective. Students at Ohio Northern University therefore built a
tester that can use a lab test for tread rubber compounds. Cooper will be able to save time and money
by testing much fewer compounds with the road test. However, although this tester is a very
successful design, the cut and chip lab test using this tester is a brand new idea that has never been
done by any engineers, as we know. Therefore, a summer intern project was created to investigate the
usage of the tester and the cut and chip lab test. It should be noted that the investigation is a proof of
concept study that many trials have to be performed to use the lab test for tread rubber compounds to

Subcultures And Different Cultures

The Importance Of Equal Pay For Equal Work
Despite the numerous benefits society reaps from equal pay for equal work , there is still a prevalent
gender inequality that persists. Research indicates that Australia s female senior executives earn
drastically less money than their male co workers across all types of pay, not just performance based
(Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 785). It was found that executives who were female, represented 8.2 per
cent of the study sample, earnt approximately 22.58 per cent less in base salary compared to men
during the same sample period (Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 787). Furthermore, if executives were
granted performance based pay, women were awarded roughly 16.26 per cent less in cash bonus and
18.21 per cent less in long term incentive pay (Hutchinson et al. 2015, p. 783). Provided women are
awarded less money in all forms of compensation, the idea of women breaking the class ceiling is a
difficult task that seems unobtainable to most. In such circumstances despite entering the workforce,
women may experience reduced motivation to seek management or board positions due to the
extended effort they have to provide over men.
Important gender differences still influence numerous labour market outcomes and possibilities (Farre,
2016). Women s discontinuous labour market participation is a major contributor to gender inequality
within the labour force (Arnarson Aparna, 2010). Women are often forced to exit the labour market for
an extended duration of time due to many reasons such

What Are The Positive Effects Of Industrialization On...
In the first place there were many positive and negative effects on Industrialization. However,
Industrialization had a greater positive effect on society, although some might argue that
Industrialization had a primarily negative effect on society because of a bad work environment and
unhealthy working conditions. However it was actually a positive effect on society because of a ready
workforce, faster production of goods, increase of trade, and better financial opportunities. However
due to a ready workforce, this showed a positive impact on businesses and society. For example in
document 1 a 16 year old girl, Mary Paul, explains how Lowell is the best place of her, and that if any
girl wants employment, I advise them to come to Lowell . I perceive from this statement the she was
very happy to work there, therefore it must be a good working environment, which means that the
company must prosper thu bring in a ready workforce because she even advise others to come and
work there. Another example would be in document 2, document 2 has a poem that explains how a
parent never gets to see their child because of long working hours. Although this is a negative effect
on Industrialization, it also has many positive effect to, for example even though the parents have to
work long hours, the family still has money to support themselves and their family. Thus another

Personal Reflection Of Newspapers
I worked for 14 years at Random Lengths Publications and for eight years combined at three
community newspapers (The Siuslaw News, Central Oregonian, and Springfield News). All four
offices had fewer than 20 people on hand, and we were all often called upon to fill in for others when
they were overwhelmed or on a break, or when they were sick or vacationing. At the newspapers in
particular, I frequently worked late hours and often was the only one in the office to field phone calls.
Further, I was the face of the company when I was working in the field, easily recognized with camera
and notebook in hand. Readers approached me not only about the event at hand, but issues pertaining
to my other duties or even the issues of co workers. Whether in person or on the phone, I always
listened to reader concerns, and I assured readers that I or someone else on the staff would address
those concerns in a timely manner. For example, when callers hadn t received their newspaper and the
circulation personnel had already left for the day, I would deliver papers myself. With Random
Lengths I e mailed issues of missed newsletters and reported the situation to the circulation
department for follow up.
A publications office environment is always fast paced with multiple ongoing projects. Callers and
visitors had story suggestions, complaints, or other reasons to command my attention while I
commonly was attending to other constituents or my projects on deadline. I have fielded and routed

Analysis Of George Orwell s Politics And The English Language
Political press can play such crucial role in the viewpoints of citizens; with an impact like this, it is

results to a politician being unconscious of what he is saying (Orwell). Even though this essay was

immigrants; however, Orwell includes the key idea that, A newly invented metaphor assists thought by
evoking a visual image, while on the other hand a metaphor which is technically dead (Orwell).
Metaphors have been constantly twisted to aid a concept that the speaker or writer is trying to make
clear. This leads to the politician, inventing phrases for themselves (Orwell). Another metaphor Trump
presents in his speech is We re like the big bully that keeps getting beat up (Trump). This metaphor is
a key example of what Orwell would deduce as pieces of clumsiness . Adding in metaphors can save
effort, yet only benefits the speaker and not the listener. Behind this twisted phrasing, it makes the
Politician look like he is not initially interested in what he is saying. Orwell stresses strongly, that
metaphors are used to created imagery but in this case it causes

Prejudice in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice
The main theme of the Merchant of Venice is of Shylock, a Jew, and Antonio, a Christian taking part
in a deal involving the Jew lending the Christian a sum of money. The bond they make is that if
Antonio cannot pay Shylock back, Shylock can take legally a pound of Antonio s flesh as payment.
The other plots in the play consist of Jessica, Shylock s daughter eloping with Lorenzo, another
Christian and Antonio s friend Bassanio, who is courting a rich lady, Portia of Beaumont who are both
of course Christian. Shylock and Tubal, his Jewish associate, both receive verbal abuse from the

This comes across as Portia mocking the prince s black skin and blotches the kind and considerate

Throughout the play, Shylock is continually mocked and projected as an evil man.
His daughter, Jessica eloping with Christian Lorenzo, and taking money and jewels with her, seems to

would normally be acceptable. Even when Shylock attempts to stand up for himself and his beliefs,
the way in which he does this seems to give the other characters in the play even more reason to mock

  • 2. My First Love Is Doing Business My first love was doing business. With my family operating a restaurant when I was a child, I unconsciously learned how to run an operation and deal with customers within the business surroundings. It would be easy to trace its origins back to my mother, who was a restaurant manager, and while she definitely encouraged me, I had a natural drive to unlock the power of doing business, which gave me a lens through which to view the world around me. During the summer of my junior year in high school, I hosted my first charity bazaar, a charity sale for self customized T shirts for a local orphanage that sponsored by my high school. Given much advance publicity, I did well at the sale, making over $100 in an hour. That accomplishment made me realize my passion toward marketing and motivated me to pursue a Bachelor degree in Business Management during my undergraduate studies. When I enrolled at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), marketing was my core interest: it has provided numerous opportunities for hands on experience from class projects, such as predictive analytics with software like SPSS and Tableau, and strategic case analysis with marketing tools like SWOT and Porter s five force. In addition, with my supporting minor in psychology, I also gain a psychological perspective and deeply understand how customers are attracted to, and persuaded to, purchase merchandise as well as how companies build lasting relationships with those customers. Besides, after taking a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Quiver Of A Shrub In California Summary Sumpretation of The Quiver of a Shrub in California Vaclav Havel, the author of the speech The Quiver of a Shrub in California , is the former prime minister of the Czech Republic. Throughout the speech, he gives examples of how his country has been ruined by people whom have been caught up in trying to succeed and have forgotten that they are not superior to all living entities. Communist rulers have deceived the people of their countries into doing jobs in which are actually hurting themselves. The arrogance of man and the neglect they have shown to the Earth must come to an end before the country, the land, and the people themselves do. The human race has adopted the idea that they are more significant than their surroundings. They have forgotten the fact that they are not all knowing; that there are still unthinkable amounts of things to be discovered and that the world will continue to be a mystery to them (Havel line 28). The author is trying to express that if the world stays accustomed to, and abides by, the concept that humans are superior to other living creatures and if they live their lives with only the motivation of self success in mind, there will no longer be a world for them to aspire on. Humans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, instead of interacting with the entities that humans were arranged with in a co adapting manner, they have decided that they are the most important. The author strongly disagrees with anthropocentrism and believes that every living thing on earth is just as necessary for the survival of the earth as a whole as the next thing. Most humans have gotten the idea that the other species inhabiting earth were merely placed here to support the humans lifestyle. While humans have done many amazing things on the earth, the author states that these discoveries and inventions would not be possible without the earth (Havel par. ... • 6. Seven Rules For Observational Research Seven rules for observational research: how to watch people do stuff Observational research, ethnography, or, in plain English, watching people do stuff, seems to be hot these days. Newsweek touts it ( quot;Enough Talk, quot; August 18, 1997), which means it s getting to be mainstream, but I find that a lot of clients aren t very comfortable with it. Certainly, compared to traditional focus groups, mini groups, or one on one interviews, observational research accounts for a pitiably small portion of most research budgets. Yogi Berra s famous line that quot; You can observe a lot just by watching quot; is widely acknowledged, but observation remains the most under utilized qualitative technique in marketing research. One of the reasons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They re making lunch for their kids, the same way I would if I were in their shoes. They re waiting for their cars to be serviced, the same way I do. If my clients are along, they begin to get very antsy at this point, because they re seeing the same thing I am: nothing out of the ordinary. Rule 1 for observational researchers: quot;Ordinary quot; is what you re there to observe. If you don t go looking for something extraordinary, you won t be so anxious when it doesn t appear. What you re really looking for are the insights hidden in quot;ordinary. quot; Observation gives you the chance to answer those questions such as quot; What do you do when that happens? quot; that come up all the time in focus groups. Suddenly you re not restricted by respondents memories, or their reluctance to discuss the issue in a group, or their desire to conceal what they really do in order to present a more admirable face to the rest of the group. Nothing people do is quot;natural quot; The first time you try observational research, I guarantee that you ll find yourself wondering what there is about the things you re seeing that requires an explanation. You may watch people walking into a retail environment. They ll walk in, look around to get their bearings, walk over to a display or proceed down an aisle, maybe pick up an item or two or compare prices. quot;Of course, quot; you ll say to yourself, quot;that s just what I d do in their shoes. Usually those times include birthday parties and sometimes when I just need some adult time from having all the kids around. There are however, times when I m the one being invited to a party and I never go anywhere empty handed. Whether it s taking an appetizer or a bottle of wine, the get together is always better when you arrive with something for the host, or everyone there. • 9. Children With Special Needs Children She looks so normal , this is a typical response that a mother often hears about her child with special needs. Special is a term that is described as different . Some people may look at a child with special needs and feel sympathy while others lack the knowledge. For my child development class, I was assigned to conduct an interview with a mother who has a special needs child. I was one of the many that lack knowledge of special needs children because I did not know what this mother had to face. While doing this interview I have learned that it takes a special person to take care of a special child. This child has a disease called NOMID, which stands for neonatal onset multisystem inflammatory disease, this disease causes inflammation and tissue damage affecting the nervous system, skin, and joint. This interview has taught me that some parents will face many difficulties while raising a special needs child, but they will do whatever it takes to help the child overcome challenges that they may face everyday. On January 20, 2016 I interviewed Jasmine, a good friend of mine about her daughter Emily that has special needs. She discussed the many challenges she has had to face. This interview took place in Victorville, where she lives with her husband and Emily, for about two hours long. They did the basic steps, but they were swinging around together at the same time. It was really good. • 11. Moral Education Essay Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When defining moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional character education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and habits (Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and reasoning regarding justice and fairness. Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg and Gilligan. Jaheem wants to be a good student but he also wants to stay true to his religious beliefs which does not embodies those of the Christian faith. Should Jaheem participate in a Christian worship or should Jaheem stay true to his religious beliefs and be branded as ungodly? This situation can be best addressed by eliminating the practice of religion from public schools. Students attend schools mainly to be educated in areas of study deemed valuable by society, not to be forced to worship in the religion of the institution. This dilemma can easily be resolved if students were only subjected to academic knowledge and were not subjected to unwanted religious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Empiricism and Experience Empiricism Empiricism by nature is the belief that there is no knowledge without experience. How can one know what something tastes like if they have never tasted it? For example, would someone know that an apple is red if they have never actually have seen one. Someone can tell you an apple is red, but, if you never have seen one, can you really be sure? Empiricists use three anchor points in which they derive their opinions from. The first of these points is; the only source of genuine knowledge is sense experience. An easier way to understand this is to compare the mind to a clean sponge. As the sponge touches things, it takes with it, a piece of everything it touches. Without this, the sponge would remain clean and be void of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second epistemological question is; does reason provide us with knowledge of the world independently of experience? John Locke says the answer to this question is no. He uses arguments discussed in the third anchor point of empiricism to support this idea. Locke does not believe that reason alone can provide knowledge because we do not possess innate knowledge that we are not aware of. To best describe this Locke proposes this model: Suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas; how comes it to be furnished? When man has painted on it with endless variety, how does it have all the materials of reason and knowledge to this question I answer, in one word, from experience. In that all our knowledge is founded, and from that, it ultimately drives itself (p94). Therefore, without these experiences Locke believes that we would not possess the concept of reason and because of that reason alone cannot provide us knowledge of the world. Berkeley s answer to the second question is no as well. He believed that it was only through experience and not reason that we have any knowledge of reality. • 13. Knowledge Management Strategy And Metrics Knowledge Management Strategy Metrics Knowledge management often involves isolating and planning intellectual assets within an organization, producing new knowledge for competitive advantages within the organization, making vast amounts of corporate information accessible. Knowledge management can be hard to interpret or explain. How would a nurse or doctor define health care succinctly? How would a CEO explain management ? Each of these areas is very complex, with many sub areas of specialization. This in turn leads to the question What is Knowledge Management Strategy Metrics ? What Is Knowledge? Some may ask, aren t we managing knowledge already? Truth is, no! We are actually just making a really huge mess of managing information. Knowledge has two simple explanations of interest. The first part deals with a defined body of information. Depending on the meaning, the body of the information might consist of facts, opinions, ideas, theories, principles, and models. Knowledge also refers to a person s state of being with respect to some body of information. These states include; ignorance, awareness, familiarity, understanding, facility, and so on (Barclay, R., Murray, P. (1997). In traditional perceptions of the role of knowledge in business organizations, tacit knowledge is often viewed as the real key to getting things done and creating new value. There are two forms of knowledge that can be found in any organization: Explicit Formal codified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main characters include Kenneth Branagh who starred as Prince Hamlet, Kate Winslet as Ophelia, Derek Jacobi as King Claudius, Julie Christie as Queen Gertrude, Richard Briers as Polonius, Nicholas Farrell as Horatio and Michael Maloney as Laertes. In the middle of the film there is a scene where Prince Hamlet is shown alone in a room contemplating whether or not he should avenge his father s death, how he should go about doing and how unfortunate it is that he finds himself in this position. At that moment, Hamlet is so torn that he appears to be going mad. So much so that when the girl he loves, Ophelia, whom is sent by King Claudius and Queen Gertrude to speak to Hamlet, approached him, he declared to her that he never loved her. He pressed her hard against the mirror forcing her to face who she has become. He sent her away telling her and she should enter a nunnery and that it would please him to ban marriage altogether. I believe that Hamlet s delay in seeking revenge for his father shows indeed a strength in his character. That is because it proves that Hamlet was a moral and rational man, he did not remain inactive and Hamlet was a man ahead of his time (Utter 140) First, Hamlet was a highly intelligent, moral and rational man. • 29. Cut And Chip Test Testing Cut and Chip Test Ohio Northern University May, 2016 July, 2016 Background: Cut and chip is a phenomena in tires that manifests itself primarily from prolonged off road use. As the tires are used off road, the tread compound will be cut by rocks and eventually large pieces of the tread rubber are chipped off. Current tests involve manufacturing a series of test tires and sending them to a test track in Texas. The tires are then run on a controlled gravel road. Each set of tires is run for 1000 miles, 500 each day for two days. In each set of 500 miles, 100 miles are on flint rock and 400 miles are on the highway. The tires are then ranked visually by multiple engineers to determine which rubber compounds demonstrate the best cut and chip resistance. Thus, current testing is expensive, time intensive, and subjective. Students at Ohio Northern University therefore built a tester that can use a lab test for tread rubber compounds. Cooper will be able to save time and money by testing much fewer compounds with the road test. However, although this tester is a very successful design, the cut and chip lab test using this tester is a brand new idea that has never been done by any engineers, as we know.
