I Will Survive
If you re looking for a science fiction adventure that will not be soon forgotten, a movie that takes a
somewhat realistic how to guide for surviving on an inhospitable planet, or if you just want a movie
that is a blast from liftoff to landing, this movie might just be the best choice. You will not only be
enthralled by the cinematography and special effects, but the acting and the upbeat tone make this
movie truly stellar. Directed by Ridley Scott and based on the book by Andy Weir, the Martian is a
hard science fiction adventure set in the godforsaken Martian landscape. After being injured during a
Martian dust storm, presumed dead and being left behind by his fellow astronauts (played by Jessica

However, as sure as I Will Survive is the main theme of this movie, he retains this childlike optimism
throughout this movie, making wisecracks and jokes throughout the entire film. The acting and
cinematography, as mentioned before, is also stellar. Although it may seem rather dull to some
viewers, I thought Dariusz Wolski made a rather realistic, albeit bland, Martian landscape. Still, the
landscape shots were impressive to say the least. Also, I enjoyed the performances of the actors.
Primarily, I thought Matt Damon s chipper portrayal of the NASA botanist was amazing. Meanwhile,
the rest of the cast was memorable, including Jessica Chastain s character, Captain Lewis. Finally, and
this is perhaps the most well known fact about The Martian, the science in this movie hits the nail on
the head. The details put into this movie, from the technology used for the missions to how he plans to
escape the red deathtrap, shows a level of care for the science part of science fiction. This movie will
blast off into a captivating and thrilling adventure that will take you out of this

Emergency Room Monitoring System
Clinical Tip #7
You are currently working in an office with the best equipment possible for dentistry. Your office has a
crown making machine, digital x ray machines and a brand new beautiful facility to complement a
professional environment. However, life can change rapidly and someday you may be working in a
less than ideal environment. I took an online class with a dental hygienist in San Francisco, and she
was hand dipping all of the film in her office. They did not even possess an automatic processor. It is
important to learn about film processing in a darkroom, even though it is not valid for your current
state of employment. Also, this information will be part of your testing for certification.

The level of solution should be kept to the top of the tank so the immersed film will be covered. Eight
ounces of standard fixer and developer should be replenished daily. The solutions should be changed
completely every 2 3 weeks.
The light sources should include an illuminating safelight to allow operator to see what they are doing
when processing films, but not allow for light leaks. An overhead white light is a must to shut off
during developing. It allows the operator to sufficiently clean and care for solutions and the processor.
A viewing safelight is included so that a dentist can view the film prior to fully development. An x ray
viewbox is incorporated for fully viewing the finished products, and an outside warning light to let
other operators know someone is already in the darkroom developing film. (However, never count on
someone looking at the light; always lock the door.)
Record keeping must include supply inventory and film identifications. The date of the next scheduled
solution change should be posted in a prominent space. The patient s name, chart number, number of
films, and hanger number, and the date taken should be recorded.
Due to operator error or poor processing technique, sometimes a film does not turn out as

Emperor Penguin Cycle
Emperor Penguin
Introduction:
The Emperor Penguin, also scientifically known as Aptenodytes forsteri, is the tallest and heaviest of
all penguin species. The Emperor Penguin is native to Antarctica and is near threatened with a stable
population. If living in the wild, it generally has a lifespan of around 20 years, but an individual can
reach 50 years of age. The Emperor penguin reproduces sexually, meaning two parents are required
during the reproduction process. Emperor penguins reach sexual maturity at the age of 3.
Reproductive parts:
Unlike humans and many other animals, female Emperor Penguins do not have a vagina and the males
do not have a penis. The main male reproductive parts are the testis, ureter, vas deferens and cloaca.
The testis grow in size during mating season to produce more sperm. The sperm then travels through
the ureter and a tube called the vas deferens. This then leads to the cloaca where the sperm is stored.
The cloaca is also an opening of the digestive, reproductive and urinary tract. The main female
reproductive parts include the ovaries, where the eggs are produced, the oviduct which is where the
egg travels through, a uterus, ureter and a cloaca which leads to the ovaries.

Penguins travel 70 miles to reach a specific destination made for mating purposes. They choose one
mate and marry their mate for the entire season. If they already had a mate the year before they may

performing courtship behaviour (head bowing, head swinging and walking in an impressive manner).
Once a female has found her mate they will stand facing each other and lift their beaks up together

Costco Study Case
Question 1
What is Costco s business model? Is the company s business model appealing? Why or why not?
Costco s business model focuses on selling limited selection of products at low prices, often at very
high volume and rapid inventory turnover. These goods are bulk packaged and marketed primarily to
large families and businesses. Costco does not carry multiple brands or varieties where the item is
essentially the same. It provides members with a selection of only about 4000 items, this results in a
high volume of sales from a single vendor, allowing further reductions in price, and reducing
marketing costs. Costco also saves money by not stocking extra bags or packing materials; to carry out

Analysis Of Three Financial Companies Post Great Recession
Analysis of Three Financial Companies Post Great Recession
In the post great recession climate, no other industry has faced as many challenges as finance. James
Sterngold (2015) points out some of the challenges with the following:
Low interest rates will continue to squeeze the amount banks earn on their lending, keeping a lid on
their profits and revenues, many analysts and portfolio managers say. Regulations adopted following
the financial crisis, which were designed to make banks safer, will also continue to restrain
profitability by pushing lenders out of some business and forcing them to sell riskier assets and hold
more capital, crimping returns. (para. 3)

In January of 2009, the firm stepped up its efforts in its wealth management business by forming a
partnership with Citigroup called Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Initially just a 51% stake in the joint
venture, the firm would eventually be the sole 100% owner of the business, and not surprisingly, be
the center of the firm s strategy in the post great recession era. With the financial crisis and outrageous
bailouts still fresh in the public consciousness, one of the most respected and imposing investment
banking franchises would tackle their problems by transforming from a run and gun investment bank
and trading house with a midsize wealth management arm, to a financial services company split
almost evenly between retail brokerage, and trading and managing capital for companies and
institutions (Salzman, 2014).
So far, the strategy has yielded promising results in its most recent fourth quarter earnings
announcement, the firm s wealth management segment posted revenues of $3.751 billion versus its
two other business segments, institutional securities with $3.419 billion and investment management
with $621 million, respectively wealth management is now its highest earning business segment in
terms of revenues. In addition, the firm s total bottom line and top line numbers both beat expectations
with $0.39 per share vs. Wall Street estimates of $0.33 per share, and $7.7 billion in

The Year Of The Flood
In Margaret Atwood s novel The Year of the Flood, several saints are mentioned during Adam Ones
speech for Pollination Day namely Saint Suryamani Bhagat of India, among so many others, because
of her contributions to forest preservation (Atwood 276). Atwood may have chosen to incorporate
Bhagat, an environmental activist, as a saint in her novel considering that The Gardeners had devoted
this festival to the mysteries of plant reproduction, especially that of those wondrous trees, the
angiosperms, with special emphasis upon the Drupes and the Pomaceous Fruits which matches with
the work Bhagat has been undertaking to counter climate change(Atwood 276). Although more than
half of Suryamani Bhagat s life is still before her, extrapolating from her current and past deeds it can
be anticipated that she will continue to stand as a servant of God due to her immense beliefs and
rigorous efforts to combat deforestation for the welfare of the community; live a life of heroic virtue
as she fights to preserve her culture and property rights of her people; remain praised and idolized in
her community for her accomplishments and facilitate yet more miracles such as obligating the
government to accept, honor and fulfil the demands of her tribe as well as facilitating the astonishing
increment in female literacy in the area; for those reasons, in addition to the fact that Bhagat also
mirrors the characteristics of the gardeners and shares a similar background story with Toby, Margret

My Goal In Life
My goal in life has always been to touch and inspire someone, especially when they are at their most
vulnerable point in their life. The best advice a patient has ever given me was, do what makes me
happy. I never truly understood the exact meaning of that statement until I graduated college and
struggled figuring out what I wanted to pursue. I always knew I wanted to work in the health and
medical field; I definitely knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field when I was able to make
multiple sick people smile. I remember having a conversation with a patient and the patient randomly

Guinea s healthcare system and working with patients drew me into wanting to pursue a career in
nursing. The ability to place myself in patient s shoes and understand their situation and deliver the
best care for them is my strong suit. I always think what if that was me, or my parents, or a loved one,
how would I want the other person on the other end to treat them? I would want them to treat them the
way I would treat my patients, with kindness, love, care, and respect. It was not until I started working

patient s family, and everyone else on a healthcare team. They are very hands on, working directly
with patients and family, knowledgeable, and have been around for so long that they are just excellent

Housekeeping Department Of The Hotel
Introduction
To begin with, primarily a guest s overall impression of the hotel is entirely dependent on the
cleanliness of the hotel and housekeeping department plays a vital role in providing an exceptional
experience to its guests. Therefore housekeeping department in the hotel is considered to be the heart
of the hotel. The house keeping department plays an important role in attracting the customers by
keeping the hotel clean, attractive, comfortable and welcoming surroundings which will help in
determining whether the guest is happy with the service provided to them.
Apart from cleaning the guest rooms, housekeeping department is also responsible for cleaning the
other areas of the hotel that are accessible to the guests especially when cleanliness and hygiene have
become an important criteria for the guests to make a selection of the hotel for their stay. In other
words finding a home away from home.
For the smooth functioning of the housekeeping department, housekeeping staff plays a very crucial
role as they are the ones who are face of the hotel for the customers. Housekeeping staff is not only
responsible for performing cleaning duties but having proper coordination with the other department
such as front office is very important to determine the required timeline the rooms need to be ready for

If A Person Gains Personal Enhancement Through Prominence
If a person gains personal enhancement through prominence as an expert in a public controversy, such
prominence may transfer him into a limited purpose public figure. In Gilbert, a well known plastic
surgeon sued one of his patients for establishing a website criticizing unsuccessful surgeries
performed by the surgeon. The court held the surgeon voluntarily thrust himself into the controversy
of plastic surgery by appearing on local television shows as well as writing articles in medical journals
and beauty magazine, promoting the virtues of plastic surgery. Additionally, the court held that the
surgeon s sought after prominence as an expert in and advocate for plastic surgery as means of
personal enhancement transferred him into a limited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The court held that the president had injected himself into the controversy, and he was a limited
purpose public figure. Moreover, the court held that even though there was a period of time when the
controversy was not discussed publicly, the president s public figure status did not end spontaneously
with the stopping of the publicity. Rather, the public figure status continued as long as the particular
controversy continued.
A company s publication on a public forum with the purpose of influencing a controversy may be
voluntary injection. In Ampex, a former employee posted negative comments about a company on an
Internet message board, accusing his former employer of incompetence and the company s
management of being defective. The company issued press releases in response to the defamation, and
made them available on the company Web site. The court found the company had voluntarily injected
itself into the public controversy, because the Web site was a public forum that the company
frequently made public announcements on it for people to view. Publishing the issued press releases
on a public forum to influence the public opinion and counter the negative comments, such actions
was sufficient to prove the injection, because these actions had inserted the company into the public s
eye about the controversy.

The objectives are that students will distinguish between literal and figurative language. The students
will also need to create examples of figurative language. Next, students need to identify seven types of

students failed. Of those students who failed, two students were above grade level, eleven students are
at grade level, and five students were below level. As you can see, this data is far from 80% passing.
The average of the objective score was 74%. The range of the objective score was 50. As you can see,

The outliers on this assessment were that not all objectives were met in the lesson, or the assessment.

Poverty In The Glass Castle
Earlier this year, I read Jeanette Walls memoir The Glass Castle. The Glass Castle tells the story of
Walls and her siblings as they experience and attempt to escape the poverty stricken lives of their

about poverty, homelessness, and escaping hard lives. Jeanette Walls The Glass Castle influenced my
ideas about poverty by showing me that poverty can yield positive results. Before reading The Glass
Castle, I believed that all poverty was tragic and life ruining. I thought that nothing positive or

gone, Jeanette s grandmother assaults Jeanette s brother and banishes the children to the freezing

until their parents return. Poverty gives Jeanette and her siblings the ability to endure horrific
circumstances. Because of their previous experiences with poverty, Jeanette and her siblings can

The Neurology Of Free Will By Angie Bachman
Responsibility is a huge task to do in life, especially when you become an adult. Life is not always
about having someone holding your hand and guiding you to the right path. Mistakes are meant to
happen in life to learn and gain experience from them. In the article, The Neurology of Free Will,
Angie Bachmann had a difficult life as a mother. Bachmann did not receive any attention from her
family, so she felt very lonely. She was dealing with having to pay for the rent, feeding her children,
and having to take care of her parents, almost like a single mother, because her husband was never

person is living in. The experiment was taken on rats, where some live caged in and and another set

park, the rats had the option to drink plain water or water with the drug. The rats who had the option
of which type of liquid they want, would choose the liquid without the drug. Having this experiment
done gave Alexander a conclusion about addiction. It states, Alexander s research suggests that

Safety Of The Hpv Vaccine Essay
Safety of the HPV Vaccine There have been concerns about the safety of the HPV vaccines. In Basu s
(2013) article they reviewed the evidence from the phase III trials and national programs for the HPV
vaccine. After reviewing the data though the article showed that all the randomized control trials
reported both their serious and non serious adverse events that took place during the phase III trials.
There were 20,000 participants in the trial (p.4). Pain at the injection site, headache, and fatigue were
the most frequently reported issues. The serious adverse effects were very rare so the vaccine was
considered safe. When reviewing the safety data from the national programs in Australia there were
millions of doses given out and the most adverse side effects there were anaphylactic and allergic
reactions, and these were not seen as any more dangerous than it is for other vaccines. In the US about
40 million doses were given out and among the reports that were received by the Vaccine Adverse
Event Reporting System which totaled 20,096 only 8% of these reports were actually were considered
serious (p.5). All the reports were reviewed and could not find any adverse events that occurred that
could be ascribed to the vaccine. In the UK they reviewed the vaccine two years after it came out and
concluded it to be safe. Reviewing the data from all three counties in the national programs showed
that none of the deaths that occurred could be linked to the vaccine. So both the

The Bell Jar by Plath
If neurotic is wanting two mutually exclusive things at one and the same time, then I m neurotic as
hell. I ll be flying back and forth between one mutually exclusive thing and another for the rest of my
days (Plath). Plath was in fact a schizophrenic, never really being cured and only receiving
temporarily relief from her own mind with electroshock therapy. Her novel, The Bell Jar, is almost a
self biography with the veil of fiction over the story of Plath s own life being so thin that her mother
fought its publication (McCann 1631). Nevertheless, Plath s immense hard work paid off and it was
published. Writing was Plath s passion and when she wrote, her life became an enthralling story.

mind which of the figs I would chose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant

To make matters worse, when she arrived home a letter awaited her saying that she had been rejected
from Frank O Connor s short story class. She was almost positive that she would get in and was
deeply devastated when she received the rejection letter. Both the disappointment of New York and the
rejection from the coveted writing class that she counted on started a deep spiral into clinical

inability to sleep or read. Plath felt despondent. She even had an unsuccessful attempt at suicide by

Understanding Elephant Poaching
The Elephants
Did you know that that 35,000 elephants are dying each year? We are poaching them, usually for a
price. Poaching is different from hunting. Hunting is when you kill for sport, and it s completely legal.
You still need a permit. Poaching is when you kill an animal without a permit. Sadly, 30 elephants are
lost a day in Tanzania. Imagine if that was you and your herd was getting killed with no end in sight.
We need to take some responsibility, because I would want to be killed just because a poacher had a
permit. In order to understand elephant poaching you need to know why they re being poached, the
perspectives of the poachers, and the organisations, how they re becoming extinct, what we can do to
help and what is being done to help. Elephants are being poached for their ivory. Countries around the
world are increasing ivory buying. This is because more elephants have been poached and ... Show

Pantheon Artisit Report
First, Chris and I looked online for the proportions of the Pantheon in order to properly scale it down
to a model size. I used our domes planned diameter of 7 inches and compared it to that of the real
Pantheon dome diameter to find a ratio. We were able to use this ratio to scale the sizes of our model.
Next, we used a compass to sketch a circle with a radius of 3.625 inches into a Maple Log and then
proceeded to cut it out using a bandsaw. Due to the fact that the shape was not a perfectly cut, we used
a lathe a machine designed to shape wood or other materials by rotating the piece being worked on
and using changeable cutting tools to make it into an exact cylinder. We did the same process for the
dome; however, there were slight differences. The dome was made out of a Red Cedar Log and had a
radius of 7 inches. Also it was shaped like a dome rather than a cylinder and only had a height of 1 and
3/4 inches. In addition, while we were creating its dome shape on the lathe, we made indents (rings) in
the side to make it look similar to the real Pantheon s dome. After that, we made the front portion
which consists of a rectangular prism that sits flush against the cylindrical part of the pantheon, a
triangular prism, and columns. This part of the building process was far easier and relied more on
accurate measurements. The rectangular base that is attached to ... Show more content on

wood that was cut to fit the shape of the Pantheon. If this is done properly it should look like

Sports Injuries Research Paper
Sports Injuries
Sports injuries occur all the time, it is normal if two or three kids got hurt in a football game, that s not
okay. In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports,
and more than 3.5 million injuries each year, which cause some loss of time of participation, are
experienced by the participants ( John Hopkins Medicine ). This is a problem that can be solved if
everyone puts their mind to it. The way people could help is by working together to educate people,

How Does Housing Affordability

Yates, 2006, notes that other expenditure outcomes can also be reduse by housing affordability.
Housing consume a high proportion of household expenditure, the trade offs households are required
to make in order to meet their housing needs may mean they have inadequate resources to meet their
non housing needs (Yates, 2006).Specifically, the low income families devoting a large share of their
income to housing, often make sacrifices to meet their housing costs, such as going without food, or

them as follows:
The first mode is self employed where means of production are owned and included within the

working time and space time.
The second mode is wage earner, where the house is either regarded as a primary place serving for

mode is career oriented, where ideally the house reflect the personal progress in order to reflect

An investigator can also be liable if the contract is breached. Breach of contract can result if an
investigator promises a client a specific document at a specific time, if that deadline is not reached by
the investigator the contract is breached (Ehrlich Williams, 2013). In the article Criminal Liability of
CPAs in Federal Securities Fraud and Tax Cases the author states that In breach of contract cases, fault
and state of mind are irrelevant. A CPA s engagement letter is a contract. She might have tried in good
faith and made every effort to perform, but damages must be paid upon breach of contact if she has
broken a promise. This broken promise alone results in liability. (Ehrlich Williams, 2013, p. 62) This
means that a CPA can do their job to the best of their abilities, and if the best of their abilities does not
meet the standard of the contract, the contract has been breached. Liability does not have to
intentional, it can be unintentional and unforced, but like it s said if the work is not up to standard then
the contact has been breached. Malpractice Investigators must thoroughly go through each financial
document that they are investigating. Failure to do so will result in charges being brought against the
investigator for malpractice. Malpractice cases usually go before a civil court where the standard is
lower and cases are easier to prove (Ehrlich Williams, 2013). Authors Ehrlich Williams (2013)

Capital Punishment Is Cruel And Unusual
Although many people believe that capital punishment is cruel and unusual. It is the only punishment
that can truly compensate the loss of a loved one. In recent years, the rate of serious crimes has
increased. The increase of crime is the result of less effective punishment. Dating back to early
civilizations, capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective
punishment. Yet today s society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment
should be executed more often because; the rate of serious crime will decrease, free up prison space,
and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital punishment is the
lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious crime, such as first degree murder.
Some people agree it is the most appropriate punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but
others call it cruel and unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The
method used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain less results.
My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed more often is because it could
possibly help the problem of overcrowding in prisons. States such as Texas and California, mainly
suffer from this problem due to its vast population and crime rate. Instead of keeping inmates for life
in prison, its better to execute the one s with the most serious crimes than to release them or

Acetanilide Reaction Lab Report
In the following experiment, acetanilide was reacted with bromine to yield a para isomer or an ortho
isomer. The electrophile was generated due to glacial acid, as opposed to using the routine solvent,
FeBr3. Glacial acid was used in replacement because acetanilide was a strong activator and FeBr3
would not suffice. It allowed for the bromine atoms to become polarized which allowed for the
reaction to take place. The pi bonds of Benzene ring nucleophilically attacked the polarized bromine
atom and an arenium cation resulted. Resonance allowed for the arenium ion to be stabilized and for
the carbocation to move throughout the ring until it reached the acetanilide substituent containing the
acetamide group. Acetamide groups contain an NH atom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The singlet that appeared up field with an integration value of 3 was the Hd peak and its appearance
here was due to the oxygen deshielding it from seeing any other neighbors besides itself. The protons
in the benzene ring were observed to be further downfield due to the benzene ring as opposed to the
proton that is bonded to the nitrogen. The proton bonded to the nitrogen, Hc, was observed as a singlet
around 7.218, which is still downfield. The aromatic protons, Hb and Ha, showed up as doublets and
they can be distinguished by the substituents they are closest to, as these substituents determine the
chemical shifts of Hb and Ha. The protons closest to the acetamide group, Hb, appeared more upfield
and this is because the nitrogen atom donates electrons to the ring that would allow for Hb to not have
its electron drawn as much. The opposite effect are the protons bonded closest to the bromine
substituent and this is because the bromine atom exhibits an electron withdrawing inductive effect.
Because bromine withdraws electron density, Ha would be more deshielded and thus appear farther
downfield than Hb. With that, it is important to note that the peaks that appeared at 7.250ppm, 1.582
ppm, and 1.244 ppm were contaminants from CDCL3, water, and ethanol respectively. These
contaminants may have found their way into the reaction mixture during the recrystallization process

Jane Austen s Novel Of The Tee Essay
Jane Austen (16 December 1775 18 July 1817) is a world famous English novelist, primarily known
for her six major novels which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the
end of the 18th century. Austen s plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage in the
pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. In particular, Austen s novel Emma,
published in 1815, displays these aspects of of traditional English life in that period, however the
classic piece is still enjoyed by many all over the world today. Emma has seen many on screen
adaptations, some which do the novel justice and follow the plot to the tee, whilst others loosely base
the plot along the lines of the novel. Aisha is a 2010 Indian comedy drama film starring Abhay Deol

Essay about It s Time to Reform the Endangered Species Act
It s Time to Reform the Endangered Species Act
In 1973, Congress passed the Endangered Species Act. The Act was passed in response to findings by
Congress that growth and development were responsible for the extinction of species of fish, wildlife
and plants.
This Act was to provide programs to protect species identified as either endangered or threatened. It
also mandated Federal agencies and departments to protect endangered and threatened species in their
own operations, as well as work with State and local agencies to further promote conservation and
protection of identified species.

questioning the allocation of funding to programs intended to aid listed species.
The National Endangered Species Act Reform Coalition is questioning the effectiveness of the Act, as
well as its impact on people. Pointing to the poor progress of removing species from the Endangered
and Threatened lists, the group calls on reform of the Act, to reform the methods for determining
eligibility for listing, opening the listing and regulatory processes of the Act to include participation
from all groups affected by the legislation, and providing more incentives for private citizens and
businesses to pro actively participate in conservation of listed species.
MY OPINION
While well intended, the Act has some shortcomings, as indicated by the lack of progress in getting
species off the list. This indicates that the programs that are part of the Act are failing to accomplish
their mandated objective.
Also, while biodiversity is crucial to protect, there are natural processes

Fluorescent Tagged Protein Research Paper
Essay 47: Fluorescent Tagged Proteins
Proteins tagged with fluorescent markers are extremely versatile tools in cell and molecular biology
research. A fluorescent marker is, as the name suggests, a molecule that emits light of a particular
wavelength following exposure to a photons of a shorter wavelength, for example a laser beam. If a
fluorescent marker is a reasonable size and chemically stable enough to be attached to a protein, it is
potentially useful to molecular biologists. In many cases, the proteins in question are monoclonal
antibodies generated against a particular target of interest such as a cell surface receptor, a cytoskeletal
protein, or a cellular organelle. In some cases, a fluorescent label is used to track the fate of a
particular protein as it is processed in the ER and Golgi complex, transported along microtubules, or
secreted from the cell altogether. In still other cases, two or more fluorescently tagged proteins are
introduced into the same cell to see whether they localize in the same or separate compartments or
organelles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some critical issues associated with childhood stunting are impaired cognitive development, reduced
intellectual performance, and reduced job productivity in the future. Stunting has major effects on
children all over the world and if it is not treated at an early age, the effects are irreversible (Huicho).
From pre conception to the first two years of life, it is crucial for a child to get the proper nutrients
essential for their development:
One of the serious consequences of stunting is particularly impaired cognitive development. When a
child has inadequate access to food, their body conserves energy by first limiting social activity and
cognitive development in the form of apathetic and incurious children. These children may not
develop the capacity to adequately learn or play. Then the child s body will limit the energy available

Malnutrition is one of the major causes of childhood stunting.

recurring and self destructive thoughts. They can be crippling and can consume us. Like the majority
of society, I most certainly have experienced these thoughts. As supposedly the smartest species on the
earth, we cannot escape these character flaws that trap us. Hate, self doubt, and the desire for revenge
can be traced back to the basis of peer pressure, denial, and the lack of human intelligence. Yet,
because of these flaws, are we all doomed to a life of unhappiness and dissatisfaction? Unfortunately,
no one is exempt from the effects of peer pressure. The current society is in an epidemic of herd

Human nature makes it difficult to accept others opinions and ideas. Often, I want to show how smart

also crucial as you work to educate your clients. It is also important for you to recognize common
diseases, disorders, and conditions of the hair, skin, and nails as you work in the salon. Finally, you
must also learn to take measures to protect your own skin and nails as you service your clients. This
course seeks to provide you with the information you need to successfully educate your clients, while
guiding you to protect your skin and nails as you work. We hope you enjoy this course and it is our
sincere desire to help you grow professionally. Physical and Chemical Changes As you work in the
salon, you will create both physical and chemical changes in hair, skin, and nails as you service your
clients. For this reason, it is imperative that you understand the differences between a physical change
and a chemical change. A physical change occurs when a substance undergoes a change in form or

Essay on Communication Traits of Happy Couples
There are couples who are happy and there are those who are not. The success rate of marriages in
America has fallen; fifty percent of all marriages will not make it to the end. Fifty percent of all
marriages today, who enter into a lifelong commitment, will end in divorce. In search of a solution and
an explanation researchers have turned to look at couples who are happy and those who are not,
through all stages of a relationship. They have found that many of the traits that begin in a dating
relationship will carry over into a marriage. Researchers have turned to the ways in which these happy
couples communicate and the ways that not so happy couples communicate in order to find a common
thread between couples who stay committed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In comparison, conflict that is handled with a more positive tone is associated with greater happiness
in marriage. There is greater marital success and satisfaction when the active listening model is used,
and the message that was sent by the sender is perceived by the receiver the same way it was intended.
It must be noted as well that there are gender differences when it comes to communication, when a
couple is able to realize that men and women process and respond differently to incoming messages
there are less expectations in conflict for a partner to respond in a certain way. Relational satisfaction
is greatly determined by how successful a couple is in responding to situations which threaten the
relationship. When jealousy strikes in a relationship it can be detrimental to the overall happiness for
both the one who is jealous and the significant other. Jealousy is a threat to any relationship dating, or
married. However, when handled with the correct communication can lead to happier relationships.
Handling jealously well is a communicative trait that leads to happier couples. Jealousy can be caused
by different situations depending on the stage of the dating or married couple, the study of

Cathedral In Chartres Research Paper
When we enter a space such as a church or chapel, the architecture and decor add to our experience.
We are often led to reflect and even question our morals, values, and belief system. Sometimes a space
can even take us away from our hectic lives and place us in a safe haven or make us feel as if we are
somewhere else, such as Heaven. The theological vision varies between each cathedral or church,
depending on the location, creator, and time period. Each space provides us with a different journey.
Cathedral in Chartres Even before entering this Holy space, one must walk under heavily decorated
arches. There are far too many archivolts, figures around the arches, to describe the symbolism and
significance of all of them, but they can be grouped. Some of them portray the seven liberal arts:
arithmetic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The north portal illustrates the Old Testament and the Virgin Mary, the south portal illustrates the New
Testament, and the west portal, also known as the Royal Portal illustrate Christ and Mary. In northern
Europe, the north façade of the church was focused on themes of the Old Testament and the Virgin
Mary. On the north transcept of Chartres, illustrations are focused on the precursors and preparations
for Christ leading up to the moment of His incarnation. Another distinctive feature of Chartres is its
three part elevation with the external buttresses allowing for larger glass windows than previous
designs. Unlike most cathedrals built during the same period, the window panes were filled with
equally dense stained glass, creating a dark, but rich panel of illuminated narration. The high
clerestory windows along the nave, the aisle and ambulatory windows and the rose windows, and
transepts in the north and south portals are the allow for natural light to illuminate the cathedral.

Jonathan, A professional nurse, is a father of an 18 month daughter, was sentenced to jail for 18
months for the act he has done.
It was the daughter of the patient who hid a video camera in her mother s room to monitor all the acts
that happens inside the room due a suspicion of her mother having too many bruises in her body.
The video gone viral to the public and internet, though it was said to be a controversial issue because
the care home or most of the care homes don t allow any camera recorder to be put on the facility
without their consent as it may affect the privacy and confidentially of the care home.
On the video, the nurse was caught slapping the patient 4 times in the abdomen, pushing and pulling
the patient recklessly, and then slapping the resident in her face to finish the work.
His actions were unexplainable to the relatives of the patient and unacceptable in care industry as this
controversy raised issues and concerns about the care/nursing homes on how they treat the residents
and this only put doubts and worries on the patient s relatives about the work being done in a
care/nursing home.

Three Principles Of Distributive Justice
People see distributive justice through different views. The distribution of goods (or attention, praise,
etc.) is analyzed in different ways by different people. There are three principles of distributive justice,
these principles are equity, equality and need. Equity pertains to people getting goods or rewards in
direct relation to the work they put in or what is perceived to be of greater importance. For example, a
star player in the pro league may deserve higher pay then his/her teammate who warms the bench.
Though the two earn different amounts of salary, there is distributive justice (equity) in that they are
being fairly paid in correspondence to their contributions to the team. Equality on the other hand,
means equal rewards for everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be said that altruism is the opposite of selfishness. One who is altruistic is concerned with the
welfare of others without expectations of anything in return. ABS CBN s slogan: In the Service of the
Filipino Worldwide comes off as very altruistic. I mean, they are for the service of all Filipinos with
no intention of getting anything in return right? Maybe. Maybe not. This is not to say that ABS CBN
does not actually care for the Filipino people. As with many psychological theories and concepts, the
psychology of helping is complex and multi faceted. For one, there are different motivations to why
people help. Let us discuss these in relation to ABS CBN s slogan. Apart from altruism, there are three
other kinds of motivations. Collectivism in regard to helping is serving the community to benefit a
certain group or collective of people. The group can range from 2 people to 2 billion. When one is part
of a group, there is a tendency to not only want to help and better your group, there is a tendency to
feel indebted to help simply because you are part of the group. Either way it is the motivation to help
because of being part of particular collection of people. ABS CBN can easily have collectivism as its
motive, wanting to enhance and empower the Filipino people and society of which they belong to as a
corporation. Their slogan can be seen as valuing the welfare of the Filipino people, a collective ABS
CBN most

I Will Survive If you re looking for a science fiction adventure that will not be soon forgotten, a movie that takes a somewhat realistic how to guide for surviving on an inhospitable planet, or if you just want a movie that is a blast from liftoff to landing, this movie might just be the best choice. You will not only be enthralled by the cinematography and special effects, but the acting and the upbeat tone make this movie truly stellar. Directed by Ridley Scott and based on the book by Andy Weir, the Martian is a hard science fiction adventure set in the godforsaken Martian landscape. However, as sure as I Will Survive is the main theme of this movie, he retains this childlike optimism throughout this movie, making wisecracks and jokes throughout the entire film. The acting and cinematography, as mentioned before, is also stellar. Although it may seem rather dull to some viewers, I thought Dariusz Wolski made a rather realistic, albeit bland, Martian landscape. Still, the landscape shots were impressive to say the least. Also, I enjoyed the performances of the actors. Primarily, I thought Matt Damon s chipper portrayal of the NASA botanist was amazing. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast was memorable, including Jessica Chastain s character, Captain Lewis. Finally, and this is perhaps the most well known fact about The Martian, the science in this movie hits the nail on the head. The details put into this movie, from the technology used for the missions to how he plans to escape the red deathtrap, shows a level of care for the science part of science fiction. The Emperor Penguin is native to Antarctica and is near threatened with a stable population. If living in the wild, it generally has a lifespan of around 20 years, but an individual can reach 50 years of age. The Emperor penguin reproduces sexually, meaning two parents are required during the reproduction process. Emperor penguins reach sexual maturity at the age of 3. Reproductive parts: Unlike humans and many other animals, female Emperor Penguins do not have a vagina and the males do not have a penis. The main male reproductive parts are the testis, ureter, vas deferens and cloaca. The testis grow in size during mating season to produce more sperm. The sperm then travels through the ureter and a tube called the vas deferens. This then leads to the cloaca where the sperm is stored. The cloaca is also an opening of the digestive, reproductive and urinary tract. The main female reproductive parts include the ovaries, where the eggs are produced, the oviduct which is where the egg travels through, a uterus, ureter and a cloaca which leads to the ovaries. Regulations adopted following the financial crisis, which were designed to make banks safer, will also continue to restrain profitability by pushing lenders out of some business and forcing them to sell riskier assets and hold more capital, crimping returns. Breach of contract can result if an investigator promises a client a specific document at a specific time, if that deadline is not reached by the investigator the contract is breached (Ehrlich Williams, 2013). In the article Criminal Liability of CPAs in Federal Securities Fraud and Tax Cases the author states that In breach of contract cases, fault and state of mind are irrelevant. A CPA s engagement letter is a contract. She might have tried in good faith and made every effort to perform, but damages must be paid upon breach of contact if she has broken a promise. This broken promise alone results in liability. (Ehrlich Williams, 2013, p. 62) This means that a CPA can do their job to the best of their abilities, and if the best of their abilities does not meet the standard of the contract, the contract has been breached. Liability does not have to intentional, it can be unintentional and unforced, but like it s said if the work is not up to standard then the contact has been breached. Malpractice Investigators must thoroughly go through each financial document that they are investigating. In recent years, the rate of serious crimes has increased. The increase of crime is the result of less effective punishment. Dating back to early civilizations, capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective punishment. Yet today s society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment should be executed more often because; the rate of serious crime will decrease, free up prison space, and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital punishment is the lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious crime, such as first degree murder. Some people agree it is the most appropriate punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but others call it cruel and unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The method used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain less results. My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed more often is because it could possibly help the problem of overcrowding in prisons. The electrophile was generated due to glacial acid, as opposed to using the routine solvent, FeBr3. Glacial acid was used in replacement because acetanilide was a strong activator and FeBr3 would not suffice. It allowed for the bromine atoms to become polarized which allowed for the reaction to take place. The pi bonds of Benzene ring nucleophilically attacked the polarized bromine atom and an arenium cation resulted. The singlet that appeared up field with an integration value of 3 was the Hd peak and its appearance here was due to the oxygen deshielding it from seeing any other neighbors besides itself. The protons in the benzene ring were observed to be further downfield due to the benzene ring as opposed to the proton that is bonded to the nitrogen. The proton bonded to the nitrogen, Hc, was observed as a singlet around 7.218, which is still downfield. The aromatic protons, Hb and Ha, showed up as doublets and they can be distinguished by the substituents they are closest to, as these substituents determine the chemical shifts of Hb and Ha. The protons closest to the acetamide group, Hb, appeared more upfield and this is because the nitrogen atom donates electrons to the ring that would allow for Hb to not have its electron drawn as much. The opposite effect are the protons bonded closest to the bromine substituent and this is because the bromine atom exhibits an electron withdrawing inductive effect. Because bromine withdraws electron density, Ha would be more deshielded and thus appear farther downfield than Hb. With that, it is important to note that the peaks that appeared at 7.250ppm, 1.582 ppm, and 1.244 ppm were contaminants from CDCL3, water, and ethanol respectively. If a fluorescent marker is a reasonable size and chemically stable enough to be attached to a protein, it is potentially useful to molecular biologists. In many cases, the proteins in question are monoclonal antibodies generated against a particular target of interest such as a cell surface receptor, a cytoskeletal protein, or a cellular organelle. In some cases, a fluorescent label is used to track the fate of a particular protein as it is processed in the ER and Golgi complex, transported along microtubules, or secreted from the cell altogether.
