Essay on Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc.
Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. 1. How would you characterize the energy beverage category,
competitors, consumers, channels, and DPSG s category participation in late 2007? §
Five dominant competitors: Red Bull, Hansen Natural (Monster), Pepsi (Sobe Adrenaline Rush,
AMP), Rockstar, and Coke (Tab, Full Throttle) § $6.2 billion industry in 2006 § Grew at
a rate of 42.5% from 2001 to 2006, 10.2% from 2007 2011 Consumers limit their choices to only
1.4 different brands indicating brand loyalty § Red Bull, Hansen, Pepsi, Rockstar, and Coke
accounted for 94% of dollar sales and unit sales § Heaviest users are males ages 12 to 34; 43
million total US energy beverage users § 153 million cases of energy beverages were sold

However, there is a large market for it and reputable brands like DPSGs with their bottling and
distribution network which covers 80% of the US energy beverage market could gain a small
share of the market. As the above quote eluded to, manufacturers with an extensive product
offering and distribution network can gain shelf space in the off premise retail channels. 3.
What target consumer market should be chosen for a new energy beverage brand? §
Seeing as the heaviest users of energy beverages are males between the ages of 12 and 34,
DPSG should market their product toward this group. 4. What product should be introduced and
how should it be positioned/differentiated? § DPSG s new energy beverage or a different
variety of their beverage could be geared towards females in an attempt to capture drinkers of
Coca Cola s Tab. In addition, males ages 35 to 54 consume energy beverages at a rate slightly
lower than males under age 24. An energy beverage with similar stimulant effects as most energy
drinks but has other health benefits (i.e. Vitamin Water, Odwalla, Naked) could also attract the
abovementioned consumers. 5. Through what channel(s) should a new energy beverage brand be
distributed? § DPSG s new energy beverage should be distributed through off premise retail
channels. As the case points out, convenience stores and supermarkets made up approximately 90%
of retail sales dollars should be our primary focus.

I Was An International Traveler Or An Intercultural Trainer
If I was an international traveler or an intercultural trainer within my organization and I had to train
a group of people going to India about the culture. I will first start off by saying I know you guys
are not use to the enculturation of India. According to lecture enculturation means the process
which your native cultureis acquired. To explain it to my groups members very thoroughly I would
say I know you guys are not of custom or practice the India culture but you guys have to
acculturation to the culture of India. The word acculturation from lecture class means the process
by which you learn and adapt to other cultures. That s what exactly the group of people I m
training going to have to do. At first it s going to be a major culture shock for the group of people
I m training because they know nothing about how to handle culture in India but, I m pretty sure
my group is going to acculturation to the culture of India.
Within working with the culture shock graph I will make sure my group follows the five key points
while moving through the culture shock graph. The five key points are quantity, quality, relation,
and manner. It s very important my group understands these five key concepts of maxim
communication because India follows these key points very differently than we do in the states.
For example, in India, people love to stare at each other. This is considered non verbal
communication according to speech class. Non verbal means using gestures and

Modern Day Chromatsu Alternate Ending
The boy looked terrified, help! He called out, This guy is using magic! Choromatsu immediately
got up in a panic. How can he be so stupid? Was this all a trap
He didn t have time to think anymore, several men came out of the woods. There are four in all,
big and buff; they had their swords out. Choromatsu only knew a few defensive spells. He could
try to use his fire magic.
He muttered the words to the spell. He was about to finish his spell before someone puts a cloth
around his mouth. He started panicking, he kept clawing at the guy s arm. He started to feel dizzy.
His thoughts were scrambled, he couldn t think. His vision became dark. The last thing he saw

The captain, placed his finger on the map. Totoko leaned in to look, it was a valley, he was
pointing at. It was mostly surrounded by water and white huts, The brothers were spotted here by
soldiers that were guarding the area. Two brothers, believed to be Prince Ichimatsu and Prince
Jyushimatsu were beating them up for coins.
That was bullshit, and Totoko knew that. Jyushimatsu wouldn t attack anyone. Unless, he or his
brothers were threatened. Jyushimatsu wouldn t attack anyone, without any reason to do so.
Ichimatsu on the other hand, might.
Did they had contact with anyone besides the soldiers? Totoko asked, keeping calm. The soldiers
around her look surprised at her. What? They didn t think, she would cooperate?
Yes, actually. The captain eyed her carefully, waiting for any false move. He saw none so far,

Nelson Mandel A True Inspiration For All Of Humanity
Nelson Mandela: From Vision to Transformation A true inspiration for all of humanity, Nelson
Mandela broke down barriers of social injustice, committing his life to the vision of a free and
democratic society. His dedication and inspiration to those considered underprivileged or
subjugated within their own governmental or political constraints serve as testaments to the power
of leading with compassion and humility. Through his leadership and years of self sacrifice,
Nelson Mandela became South Africa s first black president in 1994, when his greatest triumph
ending his country s apartheid system came to fruition. His commitment to his vision and his ability

Vision Vision, whether linked to an institution, business, or individual, provides purpose and is
critical to success. As argued by McFarland, Senn, and Childress (1994), Vision is to an
organization what purpose is to an individual. Any individual who has strong life purpose is
naturally motivated and moved to action. A vision for an organization has the same power,
serving as a higher purpose (p.94). Establishing a clear vision brings a sense of unity and
inspiration, whereby members of the team gain a sense of self motivation to follow in the same
direction (McFarland, et.al.). Ownership of a vision does not rest solely on the leader; in contrast,
uniting members of an organization and enabling them to share in the purpose are critical.
Visionary leaders have the compassion and commitment to a cause that inspire those around them
to believe in what they are doing. Visionary Leadership: Personal to Organizational Commitment
Vision is a critical component to success, as it unites members of an organization or group with a
common purpose. The creation of a vision, however, is not a simple process; as Yoeli and
Berkovich (2010) noted, The process of formulating a vision is long and complex and usually
begins with the leader s unique personal ethos (p.452). According to Katz (1999), when formulating
a personal ethos, a leader is trying to determine the motivating factor to influence others, identify the
purpose to

The Effects Of Adaptation In Cell Diseases
Resistance induced via mutation in the DNA: Mutation in the genes that alters the activity of the
drug, resulting in cell survival increases resistance among previously susceptible populations (Jose
et al., 2015). Since, mutations in the genes may lead to an overall decreased in the fitness of the
cells, these mutations only occur in the presence of antimicrobial agents and are not frequent (Jose
et al, 2015). There are two types of mutations observed among two different population of Gram
negative including cocci and Bacillus. Recent studies have shown that the source of mutations in
Gram negative cocci is usually associated with the amino acid substitution in the PBPs sequences.
The substitutions mutation results in acquisition or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conjugation is another mechanism through which bacteria transfer resistance genes among each
other. Conjugation uses mobile genetic elements (MGEs) such as plasmids and transposons as
vehicles to share valuable genetic information (Manson et al., 2010). Lastly, the use of integrons
allows bacteria to accumulate multiple resistance genes on their chromosomes (Jose et al., 2015).
Integrons are site specific recombination systems that recruit open reading frames in the form of
mobile gene cassettes. These mobile gene cassettes are then incorporated into the host
chromosomes, resulting in the addition of new genes along with appropriate machinery to ensure
that the new genes are expressed adequately in the host cell (Jose et al., 2015; Thomas et al., 2005).
Resistance via modification of the anti microbial compounds: Bacterial pathogens have evolved
strategies to chemically modify the antibiotics via the production of enzymes that adds specific
moieties to the compounds, inhibiting their therapeutic effects (Jose at al., 2015). These enzymes
exert their action through the process acetylation, phosphorylation and or adenylation to sterically
hinder the compound so it is no longer able to bind its target. Due to these biochemical reactions,
the drug is unable to bind its target sites and thus results in increased resistance and higher MICs
among bacterial populations (Wilson, 2014;

University Of Hawai пѕ пѕЄ I At Hilo
University of HawaiК»i at Hilo is in the attempt of building a Thirty Meter telescope on Mauna
Kea. To Hawaiians Mauna Kea holds a high value of historical and sacred context and should not
be disturbed. Although, the construction of the thirty meter telescope (TMT) will result in being
the most powerful telescope in the world, bringing the worlds best researchers to HawaiК»i. The
construction of TMT will also bring an estimated total of 10,000 job opportunities to HawaiК»i
(Deneen). The TMT poses a significant opportunity for astronomy on a worldwide platform;
however, the cultural significance of Mauna Kea, the environmental impact of such a project (as
TMT) and the lack of respect and management shown by the State of HawaiК»i proved that Mauna
Kea is not the appropriate site for this telescope.
In sacred records of the Hawaiian people it is said that the people are all decedents of WДЃkea Sky

The Revolt Of The Fens
The Revolt in the Fens was lead by Hereward and had been strengthened by refugees from the
harrowing of Northumberland, including Earl Mokar. During this same time Osbjorn was
taken bribes that had weakened the army. However, even while his brother, Jarl Osbjorn could
be bought off, but King Swein of Denmark and his new fleet was not offered this same deal and
was preparing for battle. During this his brother Jarl Osbjorn and his fleet had been bought off,
King Swein of Denmark and his new fleet had not. What happened during 1070 and 1071 could
be consider fact as it could legend. It is know that William made two different attempts both
unsuccessful, either in person or through a lieutenant to take Isle Ely where Hereward and his
forces were based. We also know that Hereward did not fear to pay for his Danish allies.
Hereward paid the Danish to sack the Peterborough and its Cathedral, which was now controlled
by the Norman Bishop. What it is still up to debate is how thing exact happenings, nor the
sequence of events. Eventually Swein, maybe seeing himself in a no win situation, gave the offer
to be paid off. The Normanssoon took Ely after the betrayal of the local monks secret causeways

escaped and, with loyal followers, remained a nuisance to king William for many more years to

Disruption Reflection
For my global engagement event, I attended the showing of the film, Disruption, followed by a
brief discussion session. This movie aired at Global Commons sponsored by the Office of
Sustainability at Elon University, specifically their student Eco Reps. The event began at seven o
clock on Tuesday, September 19th.
This film depicts the devastating effects of human activity in modern society on the environment
resulting in global climate change creating extreme weather events such as floods, tornadoes,
droughts, and hurricanes. Change in Earth s overall temperature is difficult to conceptualize
because its long term effects do not present urgency in most people s minds; consequentially, the
film discloses the lack of concern for environmental issues throughout government agencies and
most citizens. Even with the recent international industrial pledge to reduce carbon dioxide
emissions, the objectives are poorly defined and lack the intensity to reverse the damage.
Incorporating both the scientific and governmental explanation of climate change, the film
illustrates the tremendous positive impact civilian activists can accomplish. For example, the
activists are planning the first major climate change march and rallying local citizens behind a
common goal to create meaningful change. Following the movie the Eco Reps initiated a
discussion session regarding Elon s impact on the environment and specific ways students can alter
their habits to make positive change such as recycling, turning off electronics when not in use, and
eating less meat. Although most of the students were impressed with the measures Elon
incorporates to be sustainable, I think the majority of the student body during their daily lives do
not consider environmental issues; thus, students perspectives on climate change need to be altered.
I selected this topic because I am passionate about reducing climate change and limiting its
devastating effects on our planet; hence, I attempt to spread my knowledge and concerns to
persuade others to work together for an effective solution to mitigate its effects. Not only am I an
Environmental Studies major but also as a Public Health student I am interested in the cross section

Visit At The Beautiful Colosseum
My colleague, Alison Guest, and I were assigned to travel to Rome to visit the beautiful
Colosseum where we needed to record out findings and reveal the history of the structure. We
traveled over eight hours from New York to Piazza del Colosseo, Rome, Italy to learn about the
history behind the Colosseum. Being a new archeologist, it is mandatory to travel all over the
world to cites to get a better understanding of history. Before traveling to Rome, I knew very little of
the Colosseum. I knew it was made of cement and destroyed but I did not know much of the
history behind its creation and its destruction. Little did I know, I would fall in love with the
history and the beauty of the ancient Colosseum. Once we arrived, the first thing you noticed
was how big the Colosseum was. I never imagined how big it could actually be. It covered six
acres of land and stood at 157 feet tall. Another leading archeologist who joined us for the trip
had mentioned that took 1.1 million tons of concrete, stone and bricks to complete the whole
structure. (The Colosseum, 2002) The Colosseum was a massive structure made of stone. It has
an elliptical shape, allowing a nice view no matter where you are seated. The best seat belonged
to none other than the emperor who sat in the emperors box. The entrances and staircase were
arranged by marble and iron dividers. This was to keep different social classes apart. ( The

Dog Contest Essay
The Dog Contest
Jewl! gasped Jane, as she ran through the hot, dry prairie. There had been no rain for weeks, and
the temperature rarely dropped below thirty degrees, even at night.
Ruff! answered Jewl, coming suddenly up behind Jane.
Jane turned around and moaned, for the dog was a sight to behold, covered in dust, with brown
leaves all over her. Oh, Jewl! sighed Jane, as she led her dog back to the house.
Jane was a tall girl, with thick glasses and long, brown hair, which kept getting in her way as she
bathed her dog, Jewl, a small golden retriever.

Jane, with much struggling, managed to get her dog out of her kennel and up on the platform. She
saw her parents in the audience, and then turned her attention to the ring of fire and Jewl. Jane tried
to coax her dog to jump through the ring, but the dog would not move, and when Jane tried to
touch her, the dog bit her. Finally, the judge told her that her time was up. Jane, fighting back tears,
led Jewl off the platform.
When the dog contest was over, people began to file out of the building. They suddenly came
back in again, for there was a small prairie fire just outside the door. Jewl, who was on a leash,
suddenly broke free and ran to the head of the line. Jane, screaming, ran after her and caught the
dog just before she got outside. Jewl barked and several more dogs came to the front of the line.
Jane forgot her fear for the moment, as she wondered what the dogs were going to do. Then, Jane
saw that there was a gasoline truck only ten feet from the fire! A plan suddenly began to shape
itself in her mind: If I could get Jewl to jump over the fire, she could fetch the sprinkler on the other

Engineering Skills Gap At The Manufacturing Sector
Abstract
This report looks into what the future may look like for the manufacturing sector as well as
engineering in Wales. The future looks potentially very good, with many predictions of growth in
the manufacturing sector, with a possible ВЈ27 billion more each year from 2022, for the UK in
general, drawing more companies in and creating many more jobs in the process. However, the
main obstacle is an engineering skills gap, with many more engineers required to fill the vacancies
and replace the aging workforce, than Wales is currently producing. There are a number of
programs to try and increase the number of children studying STEM subjects and funding to create
more engineering apprenticeships. While the 2022 target is within reach a lot more work is needed
to produce the required number of engineers to make the growth possible.
Introduction
The manufacturing industry is comprised of businesses that manufacture and process products from
raw materials or commodities. It includes a vast range of sectors such as food, chemicals,
automotive, computer equipment and electronics. In most developed countries manufacturing takes
up a significant part of the economy.
This report will look at the current situation of the manufacturing sector as well as engineering in
Wales, and look into what the future may be like, as well as what is being done to achieve it.
Manufacturing and Engineering Today
Wales has always relied very heavily on the manufacturing sector,

Technological Evolution in the Film Industry Essay
As times are changing, knowledge and information are also changing. With that, the development
of motion picture complexity has changed the film industry by a continuing technological
evolution. It is evident that films have changed significantly over the last 100 years. The
intricacy of filmmaking technology has rapidly progressed, allowing creative potential for
filmmakers. Films are often due to technological advances, or even to reintroduce a classic story.
Some examples of films that have been remade include Scarface (1932), remade in 1983, and The
Magnificent Seven (1960), remade in 1998. King Kong (1933) is another example of a filmthat has

The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the
actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over
the actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated
Imagery (CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the
narrative. Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both
the actors and the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene
where Ann Darrow is placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen,
and held by a large green hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite
image shows Kong holding her. Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full
sized, fur covered hand had to be constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The
difference between the visual effects in both versions is significant, making is apparent that the
remake has displayed great technological advancement. These advancements also make the film
more believable, and emphasise the story.
Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. In the original version of King
Kong, the film was shot in black and white. Sometimes there can be implications with interpreting
the emotions in the film. Colour in film is a huge

Profitability and liquidity ratios are impressive and continue to reflect the company s ability to

Becoming An Exotic Dancer

as I turned 18 my top concern was to become independent as soon as possible. I really wanted my

Essay on The Core Tenets of Islam
The Core Tenets of Islam The religion of Islam dates back to the 7th century CE and the life of its
founder, Muhammad of Mecca, in Saudi Arabia. Islam is an Arabic word meaning: making
something safe and secure, making something sound and whole, entering into peace and tranquility,
and surrendering to something other than oneself. A follower of Islamis called a Muslim. In the
religion of Islam, it requires the belief in certain core tenets, which include the articles of faith and
the five pillars of worship. These two combined, form the Islamic creed.

The third article of faith in Islam, is the belief in all the prophets and messengers sent by God,
ending with Muhammad. All messengers were chosen by God to teach mankind. They were all
human, and have no share in divinity, but they are the perfect paradigms for humanity. The
messages were all the same, as it came from one God. Their fundamental message was identical,
reminding mankind of Allah s oneness, the reward of a good life, and the Day of Judgment and
the terrible punishment for disbelievers ( Islamic Path ). In the Quran, the holy book of Islam, it
states the names of the twenty five prophets, and every Muslim accepts them all. Except for
Muhammad, all prophets are considered to be national or local messengers. Muhammad, on the
other hand, is considered a prophet for all the nations. He is also described as the Seal of all
Prophets, as stated in the Quran. He stands as the last messenger. In the Quran, the phenomena of
earlier prophets are recognized. Those prophets included, Abraham, Noah, Jesus, Moses, and many
others. The belief in all scriptures and revelations of God is the fourth article of faith. The
revelations were given to guide the people to the true path of God. In the Quran, it refers to the
books that were revealed to Abraham, David, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Allah sent messages

The Perks of Being a Wallflower Passages
I want them to show me, so I can feel it, too. I want them to be able to do whatever they want
around me. And if they do something I don t like, I ll tell them (pg. 393).
This passage near the ending of the book is very important for Charlie. Sam tells Charlie that if
he likes her, he should be open to her, and if he wants to date her, he should ask her. Also, this
reveals a change in Charlie after Sam tells him this; if he is uncomfortable with something, he
will tell them that instead of being shy about it. For example, when Patrick kisses Charlie, he is
uncomfortable with it, but because Patrick is his friend, he lets him do it. After what Sam tells
Charlie, next time he will most likely be more open to Patrick and tell him he is uncomfortable
with what he is doing to him. All in all, this passage is important, because it expresses that Charlie
is changing from a once awkward and shy person to a more open and direct person.

Examples Of Civil Disobedience In Antigone
Eye catcher... Civil disobedience is an active refusal to obey (laws, demands, and commands). It
can be from disagreeing with your parents to breaking a law. Civil disobedience is a negative force
when the public is misinformed, breaking laws, punishments way out of hand for the situation, and
misinterpret what is or is not civil.
Transition... When the public is misinformed problems occur. People may think something is civil
disobedience when it actually is civil. For example in Antigone, Creon is misinformed what really
happened to Poloneses body. He first thinks it s a man and done because of a bet. Later to find
out, one of the sister of Poloneses buried her brother out of love breaking the law that Creon put in

In the movie Cool Hand Luke, Luke is punished and put in a wooden box for his mother passing
away. He didn t show any signs of running away or violence; so therefore, there was no reason for
him to be punished. After that, Luke started misbehaving and ran away over and over. Another
view of this is in Antigone; when Antigone is punished for burying her brother out of love
because her uncle didn t. She got punished and locked away in a rock jail. She ended up killing
herself. Soon after her uncle s son; which was her lover; found her body and killed himself for
what his father did.
Transition... Being civil is normally is very misunderstood by the public. In the story of
vendetta she says she want revenge on a guy and starts to train a dog. She trained a dog to kill
on a demand. She felt it was okay since she wasn t the one killing him, the dog was. Another case
when this implied is in Antigone: Creon felt it was okay to blame one of the brothers for
fighting and not give him a funeral. He also felt that whoever went against him should get
punished. Transition... Civil disobedience in the end is a very negative thing. People should not
go against the laws or demands given because most cases it goes out of hand. There are very few
cases that it is for a good

Apollo 11 Footprint Essay
The Most Important Footprint
Twenty Six year old Laura Polacek tucked her children into bed at 8:30 P.M. on an exceedingly
warm Sunday in July. The exact date was July 20th, 1969. Laura walked back into her cramped
living room to join her husband, sister, two cousins, and mother. The television was on Channel 3,
broadcasting the coverage of NASA s first Moon landing. Apollo 11had landed on the Moon s
surface at 8:18 P.M. Six hours later, Neil Armstrong emerged from the capsule at 2:38AM,
climbed down the modules latter and became the first man to place his foot on the moon. Laura
Polacek s recollection, nearly forty seven years after the fact, of this event is similar to those who
watched all over the world (Polacek). From July 16th to July 24th, 1969, six hundred million
people had their eyes on NASA; more specifically, Apollo 11 (Reed). For this time, this had been
the most people to watch a broadcasted event on television ever. A combination of strenuous
preparation and dedication made it possible for the United States to be the first country to put a
man on the moon. This milestone left a tremendous impact on not only the United States, but other
countries as well.

How Did Art Influence Western Civilization

arts via trading routes to the rest of the world. These arts were in the form of luxury goods such as
painted pottery and jewelry from the Greeks of Mycenaean, which traveled, to the Hittite Empires

Anne Sexton Wanting To Die
In her poem Wanting to Die , Anne Sexton explains the feeling of suicidal ideation to an unnamed
individual. Following the form of contemporary poets, she takes an incredibly taboo topic and
discusses it in a conversational tone, thereby shocking the reader and forcing them to think about
the issue in an unconventional way. The poem lacks a rhyme scheme and meter, although it is
structured into three line stanzas, and thus aligns with the free verse style of writingtypical of
contemporary poets. Since you ask, Anne Sexton opens her poem with these threes words, throwing
the reader into the middle of a seemingly ordinary conversation (Sexton 1). Neither the name of the
inquirer nor the question they asked is revealed to the reader,... Show more content on

Sexton refers to these as still born (another topic too sensitive to be discussed in everyday
conversation) in order to describe the lack of choice in life or death (Sexton 19). Perhaps
confusing at first, the next 2 lines clarify that suicide has only known death and desires so
strongly to return to that dazzled state of nothingness (Sexton 20). Sexton, in a most
disconcerting fashion, states that even innocent children, unaware of the trials of life, would be
fond of a sensation so sweet. Such a bold and shocking statement would have challenged one s
ideas about suicide and promote thought into the sensitive matter. She calls suicide itself a
drug, and once someone has tried it, their new passion in life is to seek and find that drug
(Sexton 23). Furthermore, she compares death to a bone, sad and bruised, hurting and a
permanent part of her being. In a sort of twisted logic she implies that life is somehow an injury
that must be undone. It s a kind of balance between self pity and self expression that is commonly
found in confessional poets. A belief common among depressed populations is that they are
inherently bad people, simply for existing. Sexton expresses this in the last line of this stanza
comparing her body to a cruel prison that must be broken to release her captive breath. The
complex an overlapping analogies for death challenge the reader to pay

Observational Learning Research
The method of learning I best understand is observational learning because I am definitely more
of a visual learner. Graphs, charts, and experiments are some of the more visual things that help
me learn best. Besides school though, I know observational learning has helped me immensely in
the sports I have done like cheerleading and gymnastics. I always need someone to show me how
to do the tumbling pass or demonstrate how the cheer routine is done to really understand and
internalize what I need to do. If someone tried to explain just using words how to do a certain
trick in gymnastics, I would never be able to figure out how to do it. Instead, I watch and take
notes in my mindas the instructor performs the trick and demonstrates after how I need to use my
arms, shoulders and core to safely and effectively execute the trick. While observational learning
was very efficient for me when learning gymnastics, I do not believe the other methods of learning
would be as helpful. I think each method has it time and place where it works best, but it all
depends on the situation. For example, operant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tone, By Richard Lovelace
Tone is a device used by authors in order to evoke emotions in their audience. The tone can be
anything but it greatly effects how the reader receives the message of the piece. For example I
analyzed two different poems, both with the same subject but with very different tones. The way I
received each poem was very different. The first, by Richard Lovelacetitled To Lucastahad a
passionate tone while the second poem by Wilfred Owen titled Dulce et Decorum Esthad a cynical
tone. The tones of these poems were created using similar literary devices but their results were
very different.
While short, Richard Lovelace says much through the tone in his 17th century poem To Lucasta.
At first glance the poem seems very organized with 3 stanzas each with 4 lines. Every other line
rhymes, which gives the audience a feel of playfulness and whimsy. One would assume that the
message of the poem would also be just as organized. However, the speaker seems to be battling
with feelings of regret and excitement. The overall tone of this poem seems to be apologetic yet
passionate. The speaker is apologetic about his decision to go to war but also seems to be
passionate and enticed by the thoughts of his new adventure. Lovelace uses imagery and figure
of speech to create this tone by depicting his life before the war and his life during the war as two
different women. He begins his poem with tell me not, Sweet, I am unkind, which conveys to the
reader whom the speaker is talking to

Essay On Creation Myths
Creation Myths My mythology class has been reading and learning about most of the creation
myths. A creation myth is how the earth began and how humans first came to inhabit it. Also, we
have reviewed the motifs of the myths. A motif is like a pattern of the similar situations happening
throughout the myths. The three motifs I thought that were the most common were that most had a
single creator, people were created from organic material, and the battles that went on between most
of the gods.
Most myths had a single creator In my opinion I think that if there were more than two creators then
that would be too much power. A creator is the one that puts the earthtogether and forms the first
humans on earth. Quite a few creation myth stories had only one god that created everything. For
example, the Babylonian had one creator which was Marduk, the Hindu had one creator which was
Prajapati, the Inuit had a single creator which was Raven, the Chinese said there was only one and
his name was Pan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the battles were bigger than others but I thought that the battles were important to use as
a motif. In the Hindu creation there was a disagreement of the choices Prajapati was making with
his daughter. The other gods got very angry with Prajapati. For revenge the gods created a monster
named Rudra, and it haunted Prajapati. Once the monstrous creature found him, he shot him with
an arrow and killed him. In the Norse creation Odin was the god that created the humans, but the
gods did not accept how he was making them. Ymir s sisters especially did not agree with Odin s
idea so they planned to get revenge on Odin. The sisters gathered at the foot of the Yggdrasil and
carved lines into it, the lines represented human lives and the twist and turns that humans go
through. Humans would never be as powerful, not even Odin could fix the

To What Extent Is The Argument Of Self Determinants Of...
Secession occurs due minorities wanting independence or sovereignty for political cultural identity
reasons. Self determination, which is the idea that a people that possess some sort of unanimous
identity have the right to pursue their own political interests and form their own state, is most
commonly considered the primary justification for secession (Clark 739). However, there is an
ongoing debate as to when a people can put this notion of self determination into practice. The
extent of self determination that a people has is one of the major factors that determines whether or
not a secession can be successful. However, there are many other contributing determinants of
success. In particular, this paper will demonstrate that state systems and their power structures are
an equally important aspect of secession that can ultimately impact and alter its outcome and
success. It will contend that secessionist movements are more likely to achieve a favourable
outcome or be considered successful if the parent state is governed as a federation rather than a
unitary state.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will then review self determination as the common driver towards secession. Next, it will give

its role in secession. The cases of Quebec and Catalonia will be analyzed in order to confirm this
hypothesis; Canada is a federation while Spain is a unitary state, thus making the secession
movements of Quebec from Canada and Catalonia from Spain very different. Finally, it will seek to

New Media Expands Old Philosophy Essay
This famous quote summarizes the gloomy philosophy of existentialism. Schopenhauer, using this
philosophy, believed that the universe was meaningless and irrational, and that his irrational life
was full of choices that brought him in contact with the nothingness of the universe. Existentialism
has no definite description because individuals create their own meaning by making sense of the
world as it pertains to the individual. While individuals create their own meaning, there are several
common themes that are followed. These themes fall under the general idea that reality is absurd
and it is the responsibility of humans to make their own choices and accept the consequences of
these choices in regard to the individual s experience. Some... Show more content on

I suppose I shall have to get back behind the pattern when it comes night... I ve got out at last, in

Jane, in anti existentialism ideology, allowed her anxiety of the wallpaper to drive her crazy. Had
Jane been an existentialist, she would have realized that this anxiety meant that she needed to get
away from the room. However, she followed her husband s orders and stayed, therefore proving
what results from not forming existentialist beliefs.
In the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the main character, Charlie, experiences dread and
even blackouts when he relives flashbacks of his Aunt Helen raping him as a child (Perks). Charlie
represses these memories, and therefore he feels dread knowing that it should not have happened
but he still respected her despite what she did. Charlie knew that the dread was a sign that the
thoughts were not good and that suppressing them was the wrong choice, however, he never tried
to change it and the dread continued.
The Stranger, by Albert Camus, also demonstrated how the main character, Meursault, found
temporary dread and anxiety in little things along his journey from the time of his mother s death to
his conviction. Upon learning of the passing of his mother, Meursault follows existentialist

The seventeenth century was undeniably a period of great division, war and turmoil for Hungary.
After the events of the previous century, Hungary remained divided into three distinct areas. The

Due to Louis being connected to the Habsburgs through his own marriage and that of his sister
Anne, the Habsburg Archduke of Austria Ferdinand I was elected King of Bohemia. He moved to
secure his title as King of Hungary and was crowned King by a minority group of nobles on
December 16th 1526. However, he was not uncontested. JГЎnos ZГЎpolyai was also elected King
by the majority of the nobility on November 11th. In order to cement his rule, ZГЎpolyai was
encouraged by a Polish noble and the French ambassador to Poland to enter an agreement with the
Ottoman Sultan. As a result, Suleiman I supported ZГЎpolyai and had him become his vassal.
Suleiman then moved to expand further into Hungary and marched west, reaching Vienna in 1529.
After the siege, heavy snowfall forced the Ottomans to retreat on October 14th, while Ferdinand
secured the western province of Hungary. It was this division which remained the status quo until
our period being studied, due to the exhaustion of the Ottoman machine of expansion. The result
was the split of Hungary by the seventeenth century into the Habsburg controlled Royal Hungary in
the west, the rival Principality of Transylvania in the east and the Ottoman controlled lands of the
south and centre. This made sure that the Habsburg could consolidate power in Hungary while it
was so divided. It should next be argued that a substantial factor in the restrictions

When smoking this drug, the THC goes directly to the lungs in which it is absorbed by alveoli.
Alveoli is where gas exchange happens by tiny air sacs. THC enters the blood stream in just a
matter of seconds of using this drug. When eating or drinking marijuana, it enters the stomach
and is carried to the liver in which it is then sent to the rest of the body. Eating marijuana is less
effective than smoking; however the effects of the drug stay in the body for twice as long. Even
though this drug leaves the body quicker when smoked rather than eaten, this drug is still
dangerous. How dangerous is marijuana? The initial effects of the chemical, THC in marijuana
wears off in a few hours, but the chemicals stay in the body for a longer period of time. These
chemicals can last from 20 hours to 10 days, depending on the amount and potency in the drug
used. Marijuana has many negative long term and short term effects on the body. Long term effects
can consist of cancer, memory loss, brain damage, breathing problems, reduced blood flow to the
brain as well as a change inthe reproductive organs and the immune system (NIDA). The short term

Analysis Of Bruce Bairinsfather s One Of Those Balkan...
Bruce Bairinsfather s One of Those Balkan Muddles cartoon depicts a dejected soldier,
profoundly confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a
clear ethnicity or home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not
specifically tied to any one people, geographical area, or culture. The Empire was a confusing,
heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This
caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro
Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. As a real life example, the imperial census
of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their
identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet controversy raged when others argued for
history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz
Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly
as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s
lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. This issue will eventually lead to the
dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states.
The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in
geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent nor malevolent, surfaced

Increasing Driving Age
Increase in Driving Age
Sixteen year olds have higher crash rates than drivers of any other age. Young drivers just aren t
mature enough to be on the roads, risking other drivers lives by their reckless deeds. By
increasing the driving age teens have more time to practice making them more prepared and more
likely to be safer drivers. Teens have a very short attention span, with technology; they are even
more likely to get distracted making it more dangerous for them and other drivers Auto insurance is
more expensive for teen drivers for a reason. Teens are more likely to speed and take advantage of
being free making them more reckless than ever (Ghaskata).

Speeding or going too fast for road conditions, is a major factor in teen crash deaths ( Speeding ).
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for people from the ages 15 to 20 ( Teen
Drivers and Speeding ). Teens were involved in about fourteen thousand fatal crashes and more
than four thousand two hundred of them had to do with speeding. An AAA survey says
speeding is one of the top three mistakes teens make ( Speeding One of Top Deadly Mistakes
Made by Teen Drivers ). It s not the lack of education per say but rather the mindset of the driver.
Teens have the mindset that speeding and racing is cool and the consequences that can
inevitably follow these rash decisions are not important enough for them to not do it. Teens are
constantly being peer pressured by their friends and surroundings. Statistics show that over fifty
percent of teens experience with alcohol because of peer pressure and forty percent have tried a
drug ( Peer Pressure: The Effect on Teenagers ). If teenagers are willing to experience with drugs
and alcohol because they feel pressures, what would prevent them from speeding ten miles above
the speed limit for example. It seems harmless to drive fifty mph in a forty mph road, but there are
limits for different areas for a reason, from traffic condition to road conditions making it harder for

Food Stamps Research Paper
This writing will be about the usage of food stamps, or maybe I should say the abuse of food
stamps. I see a lot of food stamp abuse in my work environment and i would like to find out how
they really work and if the system is really abused. I intend to learn and research about the
background of food stamps and how the system really got started along with its original intentions.
I would also like to research people s personal encounters with them, may it be what they have seen
or the stories of the people who actually have them, whether they abuse them or use them for their
good.

A Day At The Technology Student Association State Conference
The day my life flashed before my eyes started as though it was any other day at the Technology
Student Association State Conference. The day started out with anticipation and excitement for the
competitive events held that day. The only competitive event I was to participate in was the
Electrathon race, which was scheduled for later that afternoon. The Electrathon Race is an event
where we race student designed go kart sized vehicles that are powered by two twelve volt

my hotelroom and stepping onto the elevator, I was ready for the day.

crowds of people I headed to the escalator to go down Grand Hall 8 to find my advisor. As I stepped

How Neoliberalism Has Changed The World
This essay aims to identify how neoliberalism has changed the way we do business in particular
managerial strategies to maintain competiveness and adapt to changing market conditions. Firstly, I
will briefly explain the term neoliberalism and how it has affected the world. Secondly, I will
explain how neoliberalismhas influenced managers and their strategic reforms. Thirdly, I will
further explain the importance of strategizing and planning in regards to managers in today s
market. Finally, the conclusion will summarise the preceding points of the essay aimed to argue
that neoliberalism has changed the world including the way managers strategize and think in today
s economy.
The term Neoliberalism was introduced around the 1990 s which was perceived to be the future for
a free market economy. Essentially it originated from the idea that an economy would work more
efficiently in the hands of the private sector. At the time there were many anti neoliberalism and
anti globalisation activists protesting governments against free markets fearing foreign threat in
regards to the country s factor endowments (Davies 2014, p. 309).
The concept behind Neoliberalism is that the global market and its resources are shared equally, in
other words becoming a free market economy where government does not intervene, creating more
innovation consequently affecting trade and globalisation (Styhre 2014, p. 270). The reality of the
story today is far from what is was set out to be,

Comparing Cassia And Ky s Journey To A Cruel Society
The book Crossed, by Ally Condie, was about Cassia and Ky s journey to find The Rising . This
book was an awkward transitional book that I painfully pushed through to be able to read the
next edition. It started where the previous book left off, the Society placed the two in different
places, and following that, the book quickly escalated in terms of violence. From what started as
a sappy romance novel (which in my opinion, was quite enjoyable for just some light reading),
turned into a fight for your life adventure across the canyon to find the rebellion. Ky travels to a
camp as a decoy villager with other boys that are even much younger than he is in the Outer
Provinces. The cruel society has just sent the boys there to die from the enemy shootings that

Cassia, who at the time had been training for her Society occupation, decided to search for Ky.
She illegally boarded a ship and very coincidentally ended up where Ky had been right before he
left for the canyons. After Cassia, too, decided to go to the canyons, the plot of the book quickly
declined in interest and variety. After a few deaths, and about a little more than 100 pages, Cassia
and Ky find each other, again, very coincidentally, and have a very dramatic reunion with a lot of
poetry. In the previous book, poetry was Cassia s inspiration to keep fighting for Ky. In this book,
it is a recurring theme, but by overuse, it has consequently become a little excessive. It s very
repetitive, although I understand the main characters general inspiration comes from the

Examples Of Eulogy In Coretta s Funeral
Coretta Scott King was an activist who had a major impact on those around her. For Coretta s
funeral, her sister, Maya Angelou wrote Coretta s eulogy. The eulogy first mentions Coretta s
passion as a peaceful activist who wanted to right the wrongs in the world. The eulogy progresses
by explaining her background as an African American woman who was born in a small town and
loved everyone and everything no matter their difference in this world. Maya then describes her
experiences of exchanging phone calls, letters, and flowers with Coretta because they were not
able to see each other frequently. The eulogy ends with Maya and Coretta agreeing that Peace and
justice should belong to all people, everywhere, all the time (Angelou, n.d., para.... Show more

She also used humor to put the audience at ease. First, Maya tells the audience that Coretta
loved her church, family, friends, and race. She also cared about the sexual orientation of others,
the condition of humans, and the struggles in the world (Angelou, n.d., para. 7). This appeals to
the audience s emotions because those topics are very controversial and cause many people to
end friendships, but not for Coretta. Maya also appeals to the audience when she talks about
sending flowers and cards because they rarely saw each other. This affected the audience because
many people in the audience know how that feels. Another way that Maya appeals to the
audience through pathos is using humor that will help the audience relax. First, Maya told the
audience that they would call each other girl because it was a black woman thing to do, she told
the audience that in their 70th decade they still said it (Angelou, n.d., para. 9). Maya also brings
humor into the argument when she told the audience that she would tell her sister jokes that were
not meant for the presence of anyone but the two of them (Angelou, n.d., para. 11). The reason
Maya used humor in her argument is simply the fact that it is hard to say no when you are
laughing. Using humor helped the audience to relax and be more understanding which made it
easier for Maya to offer her proposal that others need to follow in Coretta s

  • 3. Essay on Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. 1. How would you characterize the energy beverage category, competitors, consumers, channels, and DPSG s category participation in late 2007? § Five dominant competitors: Red Bull, Hansen Natural (Monster), Pepsi (Sobe Adrenaline Rush, AMP), Rockstar, and Coke (Tab, Full Throttle) § $6.2 billion industry in 2006 § Grew at a rate of 42.5% from 2001 to 2006, 10.2% from 2007 2011 Consumers limit their choices to only 1.4 different brands indicating brand loyalty § Red Bull, Hansen, Pepsi, Rockstar, and Coke accounted for 94% of dollar sales and unit sales § Heaviest users are males ages 12 to 34; 43 million total US energy beverage users § 153 million cases of energy beverages were sold during... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is a large market for it and reputable brands like DPSGs with their bottling and distribution network which covers 80% of the US energy beverage market could gain a small share of the market. As the above quote eluded to, manufacturers with an extensive product offering and distribution network can gain shelf space in the off premise retail channels. 3. What target consumer market should be chosen for a new energy beverage brand? § Seeing as the heaviest users of energy beverages are males between the ages of 12 and 34, DPSG should market their product toward this group. 4. What product should be introduced and how should it be positioned/differentiated? § DPSG s new energy beverage or a different variety of their beverage could be geared towards females in an attempt to capture drinkers of Coca Cola s Tab. In addition, males ages 35 to 54 consume energy beverages at a rate slightly lower than males under age 24. An energy beverage with similar stimulant effects as most energy drinks but has other health benefits (i.e. Vitamin Water, Odwalla, Naked) could also attract the abovementioned consumers. 5. Through what channel(s) should a new energy beverage brand be distributed? § DPSG s new energy beverage should be distributed through off premise retail channels. As the case points out, convenience stores and supermarkets made up approximately 90% of retail sales dollars should be our primary focus. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. I Was An International Traveler Or An Intercultural Trainer If I was an international traveler or an intercultural trainer within my organization and I had to train a group of people going to India about the culture. I will first start off by saying I know you guys are not use to the enculturation of India. According to lecture enculturation means the process which your native cultureis acquired. To explain it to my groups members very thoroughly I would say I know you guys are not of custom or practice the India culture but you guys have to acculturation to the culture of India. The word acculturation from lecture class means the process by which you learn and adapt to other cultures. That s what exactly the group of people I m training going to have to do. At first it s going to be a major culture shock for the group of people I m training because they know nothing about how to handle culture in India but, I m pretty sure my group is going to acculturation to the culture of India. Within working with the culture shock graph I will make sure my group follows the five key points while moving through the culture shock graph. The five key points are quantity, quality, relation, and manner. It s very important my group understands these five key concepts of maxim communication because India follows these key points very differently than we do in the states. For example, in India, people love to stare at each other. This is considered non verbal communication according to speech class. Non verbal means using gestures and ... • 5. Modern Day Chromatsu Alternate Ending The boy looked terrified, help! He called out, This guy is using magic! Choromatsu immediately got up in a panic. How can he be so stupid? Was this all a trap He didn t have time to think anymore, several men came out of the woods. There are four in all, big and buff; they had their swords out. Choromatsu only knew a few defensive spells. He could try to use his fire magic. He muttered the words to the spell. He was about to finish his spell before someone puts a cloth around his mouth. He started panicking, he kept clawing at the guy s arm. He started to feel dizzy. His thoughts were scrambled, he couldn t think. His vision became dark. Totoko took a seat, the soldiers around stared at the captain, waiting for further orders. The man cleared his throat, Let s begin. The captain, placed his finger on the map. Totoko leaned in to look, it was a valley, he was pointing at. It was mostly surrounded by water and white huts, The brothers were spotted here by soldiers that were guarding the area. Two brothers, believed to be Prince Ichimatsu and Prince Jyushimatsu were beating them up for coins. That was bullshit, and Totoko knew that. Jyushimatsu wouldn t attack anyone. Unless, he or his brothers were threatened. Jyushimatsu wouldn t attack anyone, without any reason to do so. Ichimatsu on the other hand, might. Did they had contact with anyone besides the soldiers? Totoko asked, keeping calm. The soldiers around her look surprised at her. What? They didn t think, she would cooperate? Yes, actually. The captain eyed her carefully, waiting for any false move. • 6. Nelson Mandel A True Inspiration For All Of Humanity Nelson Mandela: From Vision to Transformation A true inspiration for all of humanity, Nelson Mandela broke down barriers of social injustice, committing his life to the vision of a free and democratic society. His dedication and inspiration to those considered underprivileged or subjugated within their own governmental or political constraints serve as testaments to the power of leading with compassion and humility. Through his leadership and years of self sacrifice, Nelson Mandela became South Africa s first black president in 1994, when his greatest triumph ending his country s apartheid system came to fruition. Vision Vision, whether linked to an institution, business, or individual, provides purpose and is critical to success. As argued by McFarland, Senn, and Childress (1994), Vision is to an organization what purpose is to an individual. Any individual who has strong life purpose is naturally motivated and moved to action. A vision for an organization has the same power, serving as a higher purpose (p.94). Establishing a clear vision brings a sense of unity and inspiration, whereby members of the team gain a sense of self motivation to follow in the same direction (McFarland, et.al.). Ownership of a vision does not rest solely on the leader; in contrast, uniting members of an organization and enabling them to share in the purpose are critical. Visionary leaders have the compassion and commitment to a cause that inspire those around them to believe in what they are doing. Visionary Leadership: Personal to Organizational Commitment Vision is a critical component to success, as it unites members of an organization or group with a common purpose. The creation of a vision, however, is not a simple process; as Yoeli and Berkovich (2010) noted, The process of formulating a vision is long and complex and usually begins with the leader s unique personal ethos (p.452). According to Katz (1999), when formulating a personal ethos, a leader is trying to determine the motivating factor to influence others, identify the purpose to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Effects Of Adaptation In Cell Diseases Resistance induced via mutation in the DNA: Mutation in the genes that alters the activity of the drug, resulting in cell survival increases resistance among previously susceptible populations (Jose et al., 2015). Since, mutations in the genes may lead to an overall decreased in the fitness of the cells, these mutations only occur in the presence of antimicrobial agents and are not frequent (Jose et al, 2015). There are two types of mutations observed among two different population of Gram negative including cocci and Bacillus. Recent studies have shown that the source of mutations in Gram negative cocci is usually associated with the amino acid substitution in the PBPs sequences. The substitutions mutation results in acquisition or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conjugation is another mechanism through which bacteria transfer resistance genes among each other. Conjugation uses mobile genetic elements (MGEs) such as plasmids and transposons as vehicles to share valuable genetic information (Manson et al., 2010). Lastly, the use of integrons allows bacteria to accumulate multiple resistance genes on their chromosomes (Jose et al., 2015). Integrons are site specific recombination systems that recruit open reading frames in the form of mobile gene cassettes. These mobile gene cassettes are then incorporated into the host chromosomes, resulting in the addition of new genes along with appropriate machinery to ensure that the new genes are expressed adequately in the host cell (Jose et al., 2015; Thomas et al., 2005). Resistance via modification of the anti microbial compounds: Bacterial pathogens have evolved strategies to chemically modify the antibiotics via the production of enzymes that adds specific moieties to the compounds, inhibiting their therapeutic effects (Jose at al., 2015). These enzymes exert their action through the process acetylation, phosphorylation and or adenylation to sterically hinder the compound so it is no longer able to bind its target. Due to these biochemical reactions, the drug is unable to bind its target sites and thus results in increased resistance and higher MICs among bacterial populations (Wilson, 2014; ... • 8. University Of Hawai пѕ пѕЄ I At Hilo University of HawaiК»i at Hilo is in the attempt of building a Thirty Meter telescope on Mauna Kea. To Hawaiians Mauna Kea holds a high value of historical and sacred context and should not be disturbed. Although, the construction of the thirty meter telescope (TMT) will result in being the most powerful telescope in the world, bringing the worlds best researchers to HawaiК»i. The construction of TMT will also bring an estimated total of 10,000 job opportunities to HawaiК»i (Deneen). The TMT poses a significant opportunity for astronomy on a worldwide platform; however, the cultural significance of Mauna Kea, the environmental impact of such a project (as TMT) and the lack of respect and management shown by the State of HawaiК»i proved that Mauna Kea is not the appropriate site for this telescope. In sacred records of the Hawaiian people it is said that the people are all decedents of WДЃkea Sky Father and PapahДЃnaumoku Goddess of HawaiК»i who gave birth to the islands. It is said that the intercourse between WДЃkea and PapahДЃnaumoku produced the mountain child we know today as Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is both female and male Maunakea s physical features of rock, soil, water and ice are female attributes; his elevation establishes his maleness, as it brings him closer to his father, WДЃkea. The equability of the male female distribution establishes Mauna Kea as sacred and creates piko kapu, or sacred center, of the island (The Edith KanakaК»ole Foundation). The second piko is ... It is know that William made two different attempts both unsuccessful, either in person or through a lieutenant to take Isle Ely where Hereward and his forces were based. We also know that Hereward did not fear to pay for his Danish allies. Hereward paid the Danish to sack the Peterborough and its Cathedral, which was now controlled by the Norman Bishop. • 11. Disruption Reflection For my global engagement event, I attended the showing of the film, Disruption, followed by a brief discussion session. This movie aired at Global Commons sponsored by the Office of Sustainability at Elon University, specifically their student Eco Reps. The event began at seven o clock on Tuesday, September 19th. This film depicts the devastating effects of human activity in modern society on the environment resulting in global climate change creating extreme weather events such as floods, tornadoes, droughts, and hurricanes. Change in Earth s overall temperature is difficult to conceptualize because its long term effects do not present urgency in most people s minds; consequentially, the film discloses the lack of concern for environmental issues throughout government agencies and most citizens. Even with the recent international industrial pledge to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the objectives are poorly defined and lack the intensity to reverse the damage. Incorporating both the scientific and governmental explanation of climate change, the film illustrates the tremendous positive impact civilian activists can accomplish. For example, the activists are planning the first major climate change march and rallying local citizens behind a common goal to create meaningful change. Following the movie the Eco Reps initiated a discussion session regarding Elon s impact on the environment and specific ways students can alter their habits to make positive change such as recycling, turning off electronics when not in use, and eating less meat. Although most of the students were impressed with the measures Elon incorporates to be sustainable, I think the majority of the student body during their daily lives do not consider environmental issues; thus, students perspectives on climate change need to be altered. I selected this topic because I am passionate about reducing climate change and limiting its devastating effects on our planet; hence, I attempt to spread my knowledge and concerns to persuade others to work together for an effective solution to mitigate its effects. Not only am I an Environmental Studies major but also as a Public Health student I am interested in the cross section between environmental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Visit At The Beautiful Colosseum My colleague, Alison Guest, and I were assigned to travel to Rome to visit the beautiful Colosseum where we needed to record out findings and reveal the history of the structure. We traveled over eight hours from New York to Piazza del Colosseo, Rome, Italy to learn about the history behind the Colosseum. Being a new archeologist, it is mandatory to travel all over the world to cites to get a better understanding of history. Before traveling to Rome, I knew very little of the Colosseum. I knew it was made of cement and destroyed but I did not know much of the history behind its creation and its destruction. Little did I know, I would fall in love with the history and the beauty of the ancient Colosseum. Once we arrived, the first thing you noticed was how big the Colosseum was. I never imagined how big it could actually be. It covered six acres of land and stood at 157 feet tall. Another leading archeologist who joined us for the trip had mentioned that took 1.1 million tons of concrete, stone and bricks to complete the whole structure. (The Colosseum, 2002) The Colosseum was a massive structure made of stone. It has an elliptical shape, allowing a nice view no matter where you are seated. The best seat belonged to none other than the emperor who sat in the emperors box. The entrances and staircase were arranged by marble and iron dividers. This was to keep different social classes apart. ( The Colosseum:Emblem of Rome , 2011) While taking in the the view, I was amazed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Engineering Skills Gap At The Manufacturing Sector Abstract This report looks into what the future may look like for the manufacturing sector as well as engineering in Wales. The future looks potentially very good, with many predictions of growth in the manufacturing sector, with a possible ВЈ27 billion more each year from 2022, for the UK in general, drawing more companies in and creating many more jobs in the process. However, the main obstacle is an engineering skills gap, with many more engineers required to fill the vacancies and replace the aging workforce, than Wales is currently producing. There are a number of programs to try and increase the number of children studying STEM subjects and funding to create more engineering apprenticeships. While the 2022 target is within reach a lot more work is needed to produce the required number of engineers to make the growth possible. Introduction The manufacturing industry is comprised of businesses that manufacture and process products from raw materials or commodities. The stop motion animation sequences were filmed separately from the live action scenes with the actors. These two parts were then combined to create the illusion that the ape was towering over the actors. In the 2005 remake of the film, director Peter Jackson relied on Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) to animate Kong. This use of CGI gave the director greater artistic control of the narrative. Many of the sets were computer generated, as well as Kong himself. To combine both the actors and the computer generated images together, chroma keying was used. In the scene where Ann Darrow is placed in the hand of Kong, the actress was filmed against a green screen, and held by a large green hand. When this scene was merged with the digital Kong, a composite image shows Kong holding her. Since chroma keying technology did not exist in the 1930 s, a full sized, fur covered hand had to be constructed to create the effect of Kong holding the actor. The difference between the visual effects in both versions is significant, making is apparent that the remake has displayed great technological advancement. These advancements also make the film more believable, and emphasise the story. Another aspect of the film that had a significant impact was colour. Following the form of contemporary poets, she takes an incredibly taboo topic and discusses it in a conversational tone, thereby shocking the reader and forcing them to think about the issue in an unconventional way. The poem lacks a rhyme scheme and meter, although it is structured into three line stanzas, and thus aligns with the free verse style of writingtypical of contemporary poets. Sexton refers to these as still born (another topic too sensitive to be discussed in everyday conversation) in order to describe the lack of choice in life or death (Sexton 19). Perhaps confusing at first, the next 2 lines clarify that suicide has only known death and desires so strongly to return to that dazzled state of nothingness (Sexton 20). Sexton, in a most disconcerting fashion, states that even innocent children, unaware of the trials of life, would be fond of a sensation so sweet. Such a bold and shocking statement would have challenged one s ideas about suicide and promote thought into the sensitive matter. She calls suicide itself a drug, and once someone has tried it, their new passion in life is to seek and find that drug (Sexton 23). Furthermore, she compares death to a bone, sad and bruised, hurting and a permanent part of her being. In a sort of twisted logic she implies that life is somehow an injury that must be undone. It s a kind of balance between self pity and self expression that is commonly found in confessional poets. A belief common among depressed populations is that they are inherently bad people, simply for existing. Sexton expresses this in the last line of this stanza comparing her body to a cruel prison that must be broken to release her captive breath. Graphs, charts, and experiments are some of the more visual things that help me learn best. Besides school though, I know observational learning has helped me immensely in the sports I have done like cheerleading and gymnastics. I always need someone to show me how to do the tumbling pass or demonstrate how the cheer routine is done to really understand and internalize what I need to do. If someone tried to explain just using words how to do a certain trick in gymnastics, I would never be able to figure out how to do it. Instead, I watch and take notes in my mindas the instructor performs the trick and demonstrates after how I need to use my arms, shoulders and core to safely and effectively execute the trick. While observational learning was very efficient for me when learning gymnastics, I do not believe the other methods of learning would be as helpful. • 31. Tone, By Richard Lovelace Tone is a device used by authors in order to evoke emotions in their audience. The tone can be anything but it greatly effects how the reader receives the message of the piece. For example I analyzed two different poems, both with the same subject but with very different tones. The way I received each poem was very different. The first, by Richard Lovelacetitled To Lucastahad a passionate tone while the second poem by Wilfred Owen titled Dulce et Decorum Esthad a cynical tone. The tones of these poems were created using similar literary devices but their results were very different. While short, Richard Lovelace says much through the tone in his 17th century poem To Lucasta. At first glance the poem seems very organized with 3 stanzas each with 4 lines. Every other line rhymes, which gives the audience a feel of playfulness and whimsy. One would assume that the message of the poem would also be just as organized. However, the speaker seems to be battling with feelings of regret and excitement. The overall tone of this poem seems to be apologetic yet passionate. The speaker is apologetic about his decision to go to war but also seems to be passionate and enticed by the thoughts of his new adventure. Lovelace uses imagery and figure of speech to create this tone by depicting his life before the war and his life during the war as two different women. He begins his poem with tell me not, Sweet, I am unkind, which conveys to the reader whom the speaker is talking to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A creation myth is how the earth began and how humans first came to inhabit it. Also, we have reviewed the motifs of the myths. A motif is like a pattern of the similar situations happening throughout the myths. The three motifs I thought that were the most common were that most had a single creator, people were created from organic material, and the battles that went on between most of the gods. Most myths had a single creator In my opinion I think that if there were more than two creators then that would be too much power. A creator is the one that puts the earthtogether and forms the first humans on earth. Quite a few creation myth stories had only one god that created everything. For example, the Babylonian had one creator which was Marduk, the Hindu had one creator which was Prajapati, the Inuit had a single creator which was Raven, the Chinese said there was only one and his name was Pan ... • 35. To What Extent Is The Argument Of Self Determinants Of... Secession occurs due minorities wanting independence or sovereignty for political cultural identity reasons. Self determination, which is the idea that a people that possess some sort of unanimous identity have the right to pursue their own political interests and form their own state, is most commonly considered the primary justification for secession (Clark 739). However, there is an ongoing debate as to when a people can put this notion of self determination into practice. The extent of self determination that a people has is one of the major factors that determines whether or not a secession can be successful. However, there are many other contributing determinants of success. In particular, this paper will demonstrate that state systems and their power structures are an equally important aspect of secession that can ultimately impact and alter its outcome and success. It will contend that secessionist movements are more likely to achieve a favourable outcome or be considered successful if the parent state is governed as a federation rather than a unitary state.... The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. Even though I was not competing in an event that morning, I still had to dress in khaki pants, a polo shirt, and closed toed loafers to enter and attended the conference sessions. Leaving my hotelroom and stepping onto the elevator, I was ready for the day. As I walked out of the revolving door of the Hilton I was excited but nervous for the events to come that day. I crossed the street and headed into the Classic Center. Weaving through the crowds of people I headed to the escalator to go down Grand Hall 8 to find my advisor. As I stepped onto the escalator and headed down, my mind speed up and the nerves kicked in at full speed. I stepped off the escalator and weaving through the crowd again to get to my destination. • 52. How Neoliberalism Has Changed The World This essay aims to identify how neoliberalism has changed the way we do business in particular managerial strategies to maintain competiveness and adapt to changing market conditions. Firstly, I will briefly explain the term neoliberalism and how it has affected the world. Secondly, I will explain how neoliberalismhas influenced managers and their strategic reforms. Thirdly, I will further explain the importance of strategizing and planning in regards to managers in today s market. Finally, the conclusion will summarise the preceding points of the essay aimed to argue that neoliberalism has changed the world including the way managers strategize and think in today s economy. The term Neoliberalism was introduced around the 1990 s which was perceived to be the future for a free market economy. Essentially it originated from the idea that an economy would work more efficiently in the hands of the private sector. At the time there were many anti neoliberalism and anti globalisation activists protesting governments against free markets fearing foreign threat in regards to the country s factor endowments (Davies 2014, p. 309). The concept behind Neoliberalism is that the global market and its resources are shared equally, in other words becoming a free market economy where government does not intervene, creating more innovation consequently affecting trade and globalisation (Styhre 2014, p. 270). The reality of the story today is far from what is was set out to be, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Comparing Cassia And Ky s Journey To A Cruel Society The book Crossed, by Ally Condie, was about Cassia and Ky s journey to find The Rising . This book was an awkward transitional book that I painfully pushed through to be able to read the next edition. It started where the previous book left off, the Society placed the two in different places, and following that, the book quickly escalated in terms of violence. From what started as a sappy romance novel (which in my opinion, was quite enjoyable for just some light reading), turned into a fight for your life adventure across the canyon to find the rebellion. Ky travels to a camp as a decoy villager with other boys that are even much younger than he is in the Outer Provinces. The cruel society has just sent the boys there to die from the enemy shootings that happen frequently. Ky... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cassia, who at the time had been training for her Society occupation, decided to search for Ky. She illegally boarded a ship and very coincidentally ended up where Ky had been right before he left for the canyons. After Cassia, too, decided to go to the canyons, the plot of the book quickly declined in interest and variety. After a few deaths, and about a little more than 100 pages, Cassia and Ky find each other, again, very coincidentally, and have a very dramatic reunion with a lot of poetry. In the previous book, poetry was Cassia s inspiration to keep fighting for Ky. In this book, it is a recurring theme, but by overuse, it has consequently become a little excessive. It s very repetitive, although I understand the main characters general inspiration comes from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Examples Of Eulogy In Coretta s Funeral Coretta Scott King was an activist who had a major impact on those around her. For Coretta s funeral, her sister, Maya Angelou wrote Coretta s eulogy. The eulogy first mentions Coretta s passion as a peaceful activist who wanted to right the wrongs in the world. The eulogy progresses by explaining her background as an African American woman who was born in a small town and loved everyone and everything no matter their difference in this world. Maya then describes her experiences of exchanging phone calls, letters, and flowers with Coretta because they were not able to see each other frequently. The eulogy ends with Maya and Coretta agreeing that Peace and justice should belong to all people, everywhere, all the time (Angelou, n.d., para.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She also used humor to put the audience at ease. First, Maya tells the audience that Coretta loved her church, family, friends, and race. She also cared about the sexual orientation of others, the condition of humans, and the struggles in the world (Angelou, n.d., para. 7). This appeals to the audience s emotions because those topics are very controversial and cause many people to end friendships, but not for Coretta. Maya also appeals to the audience when she talks about sending flowers and cards because they rarely saw each other. This affected the audience because many people in the audience know how that feels. Another way that Maya appeals to the audience through pathos is using humor that will help the audience relax. First, Maya told the audience that they would call each other girl because it was a black woman thing to do, she told the audience that in their 70th decade they still said it (Angelou, n.d., para. 9). Maya also brings humor into the argument when she told the audience that she would tell her sister jokes that were not meant for the presence of anyone but the two of them (Angelou, n.d., para. 11). The reason Maya used humor in her argument is simply the fact that it is hard to say no when you are laughing. Using humor helped the audience to relax and be more understanding which made it easier for Maya to offer her proposal that others need to follow in Coretta s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
