Experimental Evaluation of Metal Composite Multi Bolt Radial Joint on Laminat...IJERA Editor
Longitudinal tensile load exerted due to internal hydraulic pressure, on bolted radial joints between large size PAN carbon epoxy filament wound composite cylindrical section and small size 15CDV6 steel cylindrical sections, were simulated and tested on flat laminate level, mainly to check the strength of PAN carbon epoxy helical wound laminate made by wet winding method. Small segmental portion of circumference of cylindrical sections was considered as width of composite laminate and of metallic plates, necessary to accommodate 5 rows of fasteners in transverse direction with specified pitch distance. Bolted radial joints between carbon epoxy helical wound flat laminate and 15CDV6 steel plates were realized with 8 numbers of steel fasteners distributed in 3 longitudinal and 5 transverse rows at each joint. Helical angle of winding, length and thickness of carbon epoxy laminate was ±22.5°, 458mm and 11mm respectively. Length and structural thickness of radial joints, total length and width of assembly test specimen were 98mm, 18mm, 870mm and 169.43mm respectively. Joints were tested under uni-axial tensile load up to failure. Joints failed at 18 tonnes (1.7 times of design load). Failure mode was observed as initiation of bearing failure at all 8, countersink fastener holes in laminate and shear out failure at edge hole. Strains in fibre direction, at 45°and at transverse to fibre direction were found very less. Maximum compressive strain and residual strain, near fastener holes were found as -1423 and -136 micro strain respectively. Test was successful.

Distinctive models were produced to torsion test for strengthening of RC beams and effectively utilized for approval of the test works.In the present work test study was done with a specific end goal to have a superior comprehension the conduct of torsion reinforcing of strong RC flanged T-Beam. A RC T-beam is deliberately examined and intended for torsion like a RC rectangular beam; the impact of cement on flange is disregarded by codes. Abstract Many RC structures are influenced by different adverse conditions, where the serviceability and structural capacity may be decreased. Some structural disorders may be observed due to inadequacy of reinforcement provided, strength of concrete or the difference in grade of concrete used during construction. This requires the application of strengthening measures. Hence the structure is thoroughly investigated for quality, strength of concrete and other design aspects. A major part of the investigation also involves the feasibility of one additional floor over the existing RC structure where the deficiency of reinforcement is analyzed for the proposed additional load. The appropriate strengthening measures for the deficient RC members are presented based on the analysis of the structure and also considering the different site constraints. The beam was tested in a cantilever mode and was subjected to a standard loading protocol with increasing amplitude of displacement cycles. The final damage state of the beam consisted of severe cracking and spalling of the cover concrete. The cracks were repaired with low-viscosity injection epoxy and the spalled concrete was repaired with early-strength grout. The repaired specimen was subjected to the same loading protocol as the original specimen to study the efficiency of the repair technique employed. It was observed that epoxy injection is not effective in restoring the strength and stiffness of beams with bar slip of longitudinal bars at the support end.

Serviceability Limit States (SLS) may lead to the design of concrete elements internally reinforced with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP).In many types of concrete structure loss the serviceability due to wide cracks, number of cracks or large deflection is not uncommon behaviour in concrete structures or concrete beams.The flexural ductility affects the serviceability deflection of RC beams once flexural cracking take place.Imprvement will be focused on the use of polypropilene fibres , which is the subject of thispaper. The performance of concrete with fibers is judged by the flexural toughness obtained by load-deflection curves. The flexural toughness of concrete is depend on different types of fibersin use.Its tougness will be reperesent in the behaviour of RC memebres at failure. Sometimes, it is difficult to use the flexural toughness to judge the behavior of concrete structures under service load. The result of cracking on concrete beam due to the applied load and the method of loading to monitor and check the performance of concrete with different types of fiber arediscussed in this paper. The reductionin the dimension of cracks and the effect of energy disipations of polypropilene fibres will be the main aim of this research work.

Experimental Study on Bond Performance of Reinforced Bars in Concreteijtsrd
This paper studied the effects of reinforcement corrosion on bond performance between G-35 concrete and 16mm reinforcing steel for different corrosion levels. The steel rebar embedded in concrete specimens were corroded using an electrochemical accelerated corrosion technique by impressing current to the specimens to develop the different mass losses of reinforcement bars after corrosion. Then, monolithic pull-out loading tests were carried out on the specimens to develop the bond strength which is an important property in concrete construction as it determines the amount of tensile stress a concrete member is able to withstand safely. Bond-slip relationships for the different corrosion levels were compared. The achieved mass losses of rebar were compared with theoretical mass losses obtained by Faraday's law. Shortcreting has proved to be the best method for construction of curved surfaces. Domes are now much easier to construct with the advent of shotcrete technology. Tunnel linings are also becoming easy with this technology. Not only are these but there a wide range of applications where this technology has been a leading one. This technical paper includes the concept of shotcrete and how it differs from conventional concrete. It also enumerates the different types of process involved in shotcreting i.e. dry mix process and wet mix process. Advantages of shotcrete and its applications in various fields like tunneling, canals, buildings etc. are specified in detail. This paper presents an overview of shotcreting technology along with its applications.
DEFINITION OF SHOTCRETE:-
Shotcrete is a mortar or high performance concrete conveyed through a hose and pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a backing surface. It is the force of this spraying action that leads to compaction of the concrete or mortar which then forms layers of concrete to the required thickness. Shotcreting has been an acceptable way of placing cementitious material in a variety of applications.
Usually patented polypropylene fibers are included in the shotcrete which increases the cohesive nature of the shotcrete through mechanically binding the cementitious materials together. This mechanism reduces the rebound waste that occurs through the shotcreting process and these fibers also resist plastic shrinkage and cracking through their ability to enhance the early stage tensile strength of concrete.
Shotcrete also gives better surface finishes and reduces surface tearing on non- linear sections. Cementitious material containing the poly propylene fibers resist cycles of freezing and thawing and also reduces the chances of water and chemical penetrations.

use. Corrosion is a multi- billion dollar problem. Corrosion causes deterioration of material and leads to destruction of
structures ultimately affects the environment. Corrosion is a chemical or electrochemical phenomenon which can attack any metal
or substances through reaction by the surrounding environment. The second is conservation, applied primarily to metal
resources, the world’s supply of which is limited. The project is aimed at preventing corrosion that is minimising the rate of
corrosion using polypropylene fibre and epoxy coating. In this work an attempt is planned to study the effects of fibres in concrete
and to study the coating provided to the reinforcement. To accelerate the corrosion for a short term process of impressed current
is induced. In this project it is aimed to study the effect of coating given to the reinforcement and effect of adding fibre in the
concrete.

Comparison
35. Effect of flexible localized
concentrated supports
Localized support was modelled as elastic springs using
COMBIN14 elements. A 90o void with a void thickness of 50
mm at the invert of the pipe is considered. Elastic moduli of
both the pipe and soil are taken as 138 GPa and 24 MPa,
respectively.

36. Stresses due to localized supports
• A spring constant of 1500 N/mm caused an increase in
stress of about 30 to 40 times.
• However, the peak stress is in circumferential direction

45. Conclusion
• Higher stresses in pipe wall is caused:
– in thinner pipe,
– for higher relative pipe stiffness
– larger erosion voids,
– larger corrosion pits and
– With localized concentrated forces.
• Peak stress in longitudinal direction for:
– non-uniform bedding support with
• Higher void size (width and depth)
• Symmetric void shape
• Higher relative stiffness of pipe w.r.t soil

46. Conclusion
• Corrosion pit with non-uniform bedding and localized
concentrated support with a 400N/mm of spring constant may
lead to circumferential cracking
• Localized concentrated support can increase the stresses in the
pipe by 25 to 100 times depending on its rigidity.

47. Recommendations for future work
• Investigate the three dimensional stresses of large
diameter cast iron water mains.
• Conduct field monitoring to obtain more information of
failure mechanisms and causes.
• Integrate experimental investigation of failure of cast
iron water mains with different flexural stiffness of the
pipe.
• Incorporate the effect of seasonal fluctuations as a
temperature induced force.
• Account for long term material behaviour of bedding
soil and asses the influence of concentrated forces on
the pipe wall stresses.

For larger void angles >45, it is the opposite scenario. Longi greater than hoop. Due to higher bending stresses developed by relative stiffness between pipe and soil
Explains the hoop fracture
Max longi stress range is 200MPa to 400MPa, Max hoop stress range 100Mpa to 600 Mpa
Without supports, hoop and longi stress range 3MPa to 14MPa.
Stresses have increased by more than 40 times
Exceeds the tensile strength of the material (150Mpa to 400MPa for cast iron) critically vulnerable to definite failure
Despite the void location, unsymmetric voids produce higher longi and hoop stresses than symmetric
