This document summarizes a university project to monitor bending and buckling in long pipelines using strain gauges. A team of 4 students led by Jamshid Khan developed a frame to hold a 5ft PVC pipe and installed strain gauges to measure strain. Testing showed graphs of voltage readings over time from 4 strain gauges at 3 nodes, indicating tension and compression levels. The non-destructive testing technique allows examining pipeline health without damage. The project aims to detect pipeline damage early to improve safety and reduce ruptures.
It is known that one of the major negative impacts of the corrosion of steel
structures is the reduction in geometry. The calculations of the load-bearing capacity
of the steel elements depend on the geometric characteristics. The theory confirms that
if the geometric characteristics decrease, the load-bearing capacity of the steel
elements will also decrease. We conducted an experiment using the S355JR
construction steel to determine how the geometry changes. We used electro-chemical
accelerated corrosion on which our steel test samples were subjected. We interrupted
the electrochemical corrosion process at some point in order to make the necessary
measurements regarding the change in geometric characteristics of the test samples.
Once we received the experimental data, we processed them using the stochastic
method. We also performed theoretical calculations using classical theory and
determined the theoretical load-ability (force, bending moment) of our test samples.
We have come to the conclusion that the change in geometric characteristics is nonlinear
and results in a slight decrease in the corrosion of the steel elements, but
significantly reduces the theoretical ultimate load-capacity due to corrosion and the
corresponding decrease in geometric characteristics

A study on characterization of Al-18%Si alloy by centrifuge castingdbpublications
Aluminum-silicon alloy are characterized by light weight, good strength –to-weight ratio, ease of fabrication of at reasonable cost, high strength at elevated temperature, good thermal conductivity, excellent castability, good weldability, excellent corrosion and wear resistance property. Thus, these types of alloys are well suited for automotive industries, aerospace structural and military applications. In centrifuge casting solidification rate is faster compared to gravity casting, but still solidification depends on various process parameters like, cooling temperature of molten metal, rotational speed of the die and also wall thickness of die. In centrifuge casting the silicon deposition in aluminum varies from top to bottom. Here Al-Si functionally graded material is used and developed under centrifuge casting. The method used in this work to produce functionally graded material is totally different from other centrifugal casting which helped in producing solid cylindrical parts. This report describes about mechanical characterization of Al-18%Si at different temperature. At 950°C casting shows good ultimate tensile strength and harder metal compared to other casting.

Soundness & feasibility of additional floor on existing rc building with ...eSAT Journals
Abstract Many RC structures are influenced by different adverse conditions, where the serviceability and structural capacity may be decreased. Some structural disorders may be observed due to inadequacy of reinforcement provided, strength of concrete or the difference in grade of concrete used during construction. This requires the application of strengthening measures. Hence the structure is thoroughly investigated for quality, strength of concrete and other design aspects. A major part of the investigation also involves the feasibility of one additional floor over the existing RC structure where the deficiency of reinforcement is analyzed for the proposed additional load. The appropriate strengthening measures for the deficient RC members are presented based on the analysis of the structure and also considering the different site constraints. A REVIEW STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF PROCESS PARAMETERS ON WELD BEAD GEOMETRY AND ...Editor IJMTER
submerged arc welding is most efficient welding process in any fabrication industry. It is
a common arc welding process in which coalescence is produced by heating application with an
electric arc or arcs set up model between a bare metal electrode and the work piece. The arc end of
the metal electrode and molten pool are invisible. They are invisible being submerged under a
blanket of the granular material (flux). Selection of process parameters has great influence on the
weld bead geometry. Welding input parameters play a significant role in determining the quality of a
weld joint. Here, this joint quality can be defined in terms of properties such as weld bead geometry
and flux consumption. All the welding processes are used with the aim of obtaining a welded joint
with the desired weld bead geometry and excellent mechanical properties with maximum metal
deposition rate and minimum distortion rate. This paper presents the review of the effect of input
parameters on weld bead geometry and flux consumption in submerged arc welding process.

This is in continuation to my previous post (walk through-piping).
Generally, when we talk about Pipe stress analysis basics, we tend to quickly jump to Failure theories, B31.3, Caesar II, Static & Dynamic, offshore /onshore, jacketed piping etc.
Walk through Pipe stress is to ease into piping stress world with its polite introduction to curious techies, without having hold on Forces/moments/displacement equations.
Pipe Stress Analysis Basics will be taken next.

The paper illustrates the complexities involved in the selection and deployment of a formwork system through a study of
the concrete formwork selection on the Bird Island Flats Tunnel project. This $290 million project was a part of the Central Artery/Tunnel
project in Boston, Massachusetts. Because the conventional shoring methods could not produce the output needed to meet the project
schedule and budget, the contractor solicited proposals from formwork manufacturers and chose the system from CONESCO Industries.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
