Taylor s view of motivation applies to people who tend to work within narrow job confines such as on
a production line. These are people who can be paid according to the amount of work that they do or
units they produce. This is known as piece work .
For many people pay is still a prime motivator. For example, within Kellogg s many employees are
motivated by cash alternatives which include the opportunity to buy and sell their holiday days. Taylor
s theory breaks down jobs into components or specialist tasks through the division of labour. This
especially applies to production processes within large companies like Kellogg s. These rewards can
help to increase productivity and profitability. The danger with this is that individuals are simply
focused on output to get rewards so quality might suffer as a result of employees rushing to do the job.
Scientific management is not a process that allows development of people. It limits their ability to take
ownership of what they do. Kellogg s staff are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination to
contribute towards change. Consequently, Taylor s view of monetary reward for output is not
appropriate for the motivation required for this type of workplace.
Maslow
Maslow s theory relates motivation to a hierarchy of needs. At the bottom are essential physiological
needs such as air, food, shelter and clothing. As individuals satisfy one level of need, their motivations

The Main Threat to the Stability of the Weimar Republic in...
The main threat to the stability of the Weimar republic in the period 1919 1923 came from the political
violence of the extreme right There were many threats posing Germany in 1919, the political system
formed on the back of failure produced resentment towards Weimar from both the extreme left and the
right. Other factors linked to economic issues caused by war, such as hyperinflation and the war guilt
clause which `led to much suffering for the German people through loss of savings and jobs and The
constitution further hindered the stability of the government as it was fundamentally flawed. However
the main threat to the political system was from the right and influence of the elites, although the
breakdown of extreme right putsches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the putsches were too weak and disorganized to seize power in the earlier years of Weimar it
is significant that the putsches happened at all thus highlighting the looming threat of the extreme
right. The left wing, although a potential for disaster and threat, was not as great a threat as the right to
Weimar. The KPD can be seen as a reasonable political force in the years of 1919 23 as it enjoyed
support of 10 15% of the electorate a there were continuous revolutionary disturbances. However, the
endless protests, strikes and uprisings by the extreme left gave the impression of a Bolshevik inspired
threat to Germany. Whereas the opposition of the left, army, the police and friekorps easily crushed
rebellions; removing the strong leadership of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Thus due to
propaganda as a result of right wing parties, Germans began to have exaggerated fears about the
possibility of impending revolution. Revolution in Germany was a central element of Lenin s foreign
policy and the people were also aware that the soviet red army had caused revolution in Poland.
However, the perception of the threat of the extreme left never matched the reality. The revolutionary
left was divided (USPD/KPD) and did not benefit from widespread worker support. In October 1920
many USPD members joined the KPD ad the KPD joined the

North Dakota Pipeline
The North Dakota Access Pipeline will span from the Bakken, North Dakota to southern Illinois. The
Standing Rock Sioux reservation opposes the pipeline because they believe that it goes through sacred
land. The Sioux tribe also opposes the pipeline because it will cross the Missouri River twice, which is
the reservations main water source. They believe that the pipeline may contaminate the Missouri
River, but the pipeline company claims that the pipeline is the safest method to transfer the oil. I
believe that this is a tough topic to form an opinion on, but I will hopefully explain my stance on this
issue throughout this essay. In the article, The Legal Case for Blocking the Dakota Access Pipeline by

Human History Literacy Rates Have Continued Essay
Human history literacy rates have continued to hike. Children now attend school than at any other
point in history. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching the
universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough. As
famous scholars had noted in human history, education is the precondition for success and
unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic and
social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank, currently
there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school. Even the rest
of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life after school.
Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one cannot fail to see
how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the importance of having a
government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education, however is not an easy task
bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage of teachers, resources and use
of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and act consequently before they
expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101). This paper shall carefully
examine early childhood education and the effectiveness of the universal interventions made globally.

The Attacks on the Berlin Wall ...Indeed, under certain conditions, our obligations are to resist unjust
and unfair schemes, and this can include a duty to disobey a law (Richard Dagger). An example for
this quote would be The Berlin Wall in Berlin, Germany from 1961 1989. The Wall was set up to keep
the fascist West Berlin away from Communist East Berlin. However, the wall was fuel to the fire of
civil disobedience in Berlin, Germany. Most of the civilians undertook civil disobedience to fight the

property and putting themselves in danger so they could either impact the wall or get to the other side
of the wall. Civilians did whatever it took for the government to notice how much they hated the wall
and how strongly they wanted to be with people on the other side. Within hours, thousands of
Germans were clamouring at the wall demanding to be let through. (Allen 38). The Germans had lost
most of their respect for those with the government in any way and they showed this through their
actions both physically and mentally. This lack of respect shows clear civil disobedience just by their
attitude and outrageous acts alone. Many civilians showed civil disobedience when fighting against

Comparison Between Benjamin Halpern And Andrew Rosenberg
Benjamin Halpern and Andrew Rosenberg have differing viewpoints as to whether or not our marine
resources can be sustainably managed. Halpern believes this can be achieved if traditional fishing
should be limited from marine protected areas to allow maintenance of these fisheries. But when
speaking about sustainable approaches for our marine resources with the public there s a lot of
resistance because the public tends to view these areas as excluded. In other words, the public is not
allowed traditional fishing, water sports, or other similar activities in those areas. That s why there are
different types of sustainable use and management of those resources. Areas like nursery grounds to
protect ecosystems are different from other areas settled for fishing species like the commercial
lobster, for example. Some species are set aside and protected until they reach a certain growth so then
they can eventually migrate to an area where they can be reached by local officials.
It will take a lot of education and training; conversations, discussions and outreach to other areas so
people can come and learn the use and value of such projects. It will take some time, but it can happen
because at the end of the day we do want a conservation of the ... Show more content on

reasons our marine resources can t be managed. If there is no predictable funding, the MPAs cannot

Synthetic Biologists
The computer is one of the greatest gifts from science. If we check history, computer was just a name
of a job title. That name has transferred to a machine as we see computers in this generation. Then,
Scientists have invented biocomputers with systems included to build out of genes, proteins, cells and
O.R. operations. Biocomputers have become so advanced over the past few years. In 2000, first big
innovations came to Boston University by James Collins and his colleagues. They have stitched
together inhering genes to make a genetic switch. Also, synthetic biologists performed all basics
Boolean operations of digital logic by creating genetic parts. In 2011, researchers programmed cells to
communicate with each other through chemicals. Synthetic Biologists aimed to see the abilities of
cells to run some programmes that they designed by biocomputers. ... Show more content on

so hard to make biocomputers more advance with some new applications so that when doctors detect
any disease, they can treat them right away. For example, cancer treatments clinics already have
started separating T cells , which are our immune system cells, from blood cancer patients and insert
genes into T cells that help to kill cancer cells.Researchers are working towards how to recognize
multiple cancer signatures by this process. Bioengineers are planning to use biological computers to

Which in short, Carlsberg is more profitable as compared with Guinness and Carlsberg is more
efficient in using its resources and product control Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) is used to
measure efficiency of the company generating profit from capital employed which by comparing the
net operating profit to capital employed. Carlsberg s performance has slightly increased from 74.57%
to 81.20%. This signify that the company is doing a good job in managing their investment that is
entrusted to company s management by the shareholders and doing in a more efficient way in using
their capital to generate profit and the reason behind this is because of the increase in huge amount of
reserves in 2013 which has fallen tremendously in 2014 which caused a high level of average in equity
in 2013 and a low in 2014, hence resulting in a low and high ROCE ratio. The comparison with
Guinness on its financial years has ROCE ratio of 37.57% whereas, Carlsberg has a ratio of 81.20%.
The huge difference indicate, that Carlsberg is better than Guinness in ability to manage the capital
available by generating high profits. Moreover, this indicate that Carlsberg are towards risk taking in
getting high return. Since high ratio indicate high return while Guinness are more caution in risk
taking and likely to take less

Carlow University Case Study
Without a doubt, attending college could be one of the most beneficial choices made as a young adult.
In my opinion, the most satisfaction that follows a college degree is the feeling of self success. A
college degree will also help you find a job that is more satisfying and enjoyable. The manageability
obtained and practiced during college will also help you achieve other goals.
I chose Carlow University because of the size, austerity, and most importantly, the degrees and courses
offered. Carlow University has a 1:11 teacher to student ratio, as it only has an estimated 2,000
students enrolled per semester. I believe that smaller classes will allow for more attention to the
students, as well as a personal bond with the teacher and peers.

The Effects Of Stress On Physical Health
Psychological stress is pressure placed on a person to adapt, cope, or adjust to a situation (Rathus,
2016, p.284). The result of prolonged stress can affect a person s mood, pleasure experience, and have
harmful effects on physical health (Rathus, 2016, p.284). Society in the twenty first century places
high demands on people. Technology makes it very difficult to separate work life, school life, and
home life. Today, society places a high value on a busy lifestyle for individuals. For example, many
places of business are open twenty four hours a day. In addition to societal pressures, attending a
university adds to the stressors a person may experience. Going to school not only includes classroom
time but it also includes homework, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nontraditional student numbers continue to rise on college campuses and few institutions meet the
mental health needs for this special group of students (Carney Crompton Tan, 2002). It is the purpose
of this study to examine both the stressors (i.e. triggers of the stress response) and perceived stress
levels between traditional and nontraditional students. General Student Population College students
are a unique population of people who have a variety of different stressors than people who do not
attend college (Holinka, 2015). Post secondary education is a stressful time for both traditional and
nontraditional students (Yarbrough Schaffer, 1990). Regardless of student status whether it may be
traditional, nontraditional, freshman senior, all students experience stress at one time or another.
Trenz, Ecklund Flores, and Rapoza (2015), illustrate those traditional and nontraditional students both
face life stress, anxiety, and depression but manage stress, anxiety provoking events, and negative
situations quite differently. Navigating through a new chapter in life increases the amount of stress on
an individual. Interestingly, research shows that traditional and nontraditional student sample score
similarly when tested on their emotional satisfaction with their support system suggesting that
differences in support are unlikely to explain differences in stress levels between these two groups
(Carney Crompton Tan, 2002). Numerous factors contribute to

The Lucifer Effect Zimbardo
Lucifer Effect
The Lucifer effect describes the point in time when an ordinary, normal person first crosses the
boundary between good and evil to engage in an evil action and it explains how the good people do

How do psychologists understand such transformations of Human Characteristic? (Philip G.

Dis positional is something inside of the individuals. (Philip G. Zimbardo, 2007) In the movie, after
they posted the advertisement on the newspaper, they asked all the volunteers to take a personality

No matter how far away from family you are, you will always be connected to your roots. In Snapping

granddaughter is the first child to go off to college and learn from the books rather than learn from
culture like her grandmother. During her conversation with her grandmother concerning school, there
is a wave of emotions flowing through the granddaughter s mind. The response at the end of the poem
that the grandma gives, It s funny how things blow loose like that is significant to the symbolism of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lesson In Hbo s The Newsroom

whether or not America was the greatest country in the world. This speech went viral and is even used

This device was one of the best, because it did not give the audience, other speakers, or even himself a

an offensive or detrimental phrase deliberately used in place of a nicer one. The Dysphemism that
McAvoy uses was towards the young college girl that asked him the question in the first place, And

things you should know, and one of them is that there is absolutely no evidence to support the
statement that we re the greatest country in the world. By McAvoy calling the young woman sorority

college students are the reason for America s downfall. He does not know if she is actually in a

A Controversial View Of Development Discourse
The discussion topic is referring to a controversial view of development discourse. Development
means what we can do for them , here we denotes the first world countries or the west and them refers
to the developing countries. This essay will discuss the issue based on three different perspectives of
three well known references The End of Poverty: How we can make it happen in our lifetime by Sachs
(Sachs, 2005); The Bottom Billion by Collier (Collier, 2007) and Easterly s The White Man s Burden
(Easterly, 2007). Each of these three writers has different notion regarding the view that development
of poor countries depends upon the western countries support.
Sachs supports the discussion topic that development of Third World countries is only possible if the
developed countries provide financial support to them. Africa needs around $30 billion per year in aid
in order to escape from poverty (Sachs, 2005: 309). He believes that a society needs external help to
be in track when it falls into deep crisis (Sachs, 2005: 130). According to Jeffrey Sachs, foreign aid is
the only solution for the poor countries to eradicate extreme poverty and to break down the poverty
trap cycle (Sachs, 2005: 245). Sachs is very optimist about that, more aid, forgiveness of debts, better
trade terms policy and more access to technology from West can help to eradicate extreme poverty of
rest by 2025. The aid should be spent on infrastructure development, disease control and market
reforms

Illusion Vs Reality
This illusory extends to Willy s sons Biff and Happy Lowman. Willy also creates the illusion that his
sons were successful and perceived as great men. When asked why his sons were not lending him a
hand, he exclaims, They are working on a big deal. However, the reality was that his sons were
unsuccessful. For instance, Biff fails to get a loan. This delusion largely rubbed off on both of his
sons, but it had more impact on Happy. Happy begins to believe that he was a top and major
functionary in the company. However, the reality was that Happy was the assistant to somebody else s
assistant. Even Biff points out to him asking him, You re one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren

He considers that Biff s success would cover up his own failures and inability to succeed. However, in
the end, Biff realizes his folly and becomes mindful of the reality of their lack of success and that their
notion of the misplaced American dream is wrong. He even points this out to his father. The theme of
illusion versus reality is also apparent in Willy s marriage. Without doubt, it is portrayed in the play
that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on him while cheating. However,
Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest and faithful in his marriage. His
wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. In the culmination of the play, they realize the
facts over the make believe illusion under which the family was living and accept the truth. The
Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful, nor of great importance to the companies
as they deem themselves to be. However, Willy refuses to accept this reality and completely reluctant
to give up his dream, which in the end destroys him (Miller, 2001).
The lack of discernment between reality and illusion has a significant impact on the Lowman family.
They end up deceiving not only others but also, most unfortunately, deceiving themselves. These
illusions take control of their lives, and it is only at the end, that they finally see the reality of their
circumstances. However, Willy

Acid-Base Titration Lab Report

Acid Base Titration Lab Write up
Introduction:
Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to
an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration.
Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of a
solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has an
unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard solution.
Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is added to an acid
until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be equal. In other words,
the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The following equation can be used
to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution: (Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of
the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is
when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the unknown solution.
The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point and
the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that it is
neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the solution
is acidic or pink which

what supports I relied on, and what I expected them to provide. I will share what motivated me to

Spamalot Essay
Rambo, die hard, wizard of Oz what do these movies have in common? It s the fact that they re cult
classics, but none can top the popularly that one movie has and that movie is Monty Python and the
holy Grail. The movie is constantly reference or shown it s gotten so popular that it basically
transcended movie and made it on stage as a musical called Spamalot. For this viewing I watched it at
coral reef SR. high and many things stood out like the set, the music, and the feel of the show. Now let
s take our hobby horses for a ride. To start the coral reef version of spamalot was good because of the
great set. Most of the set is done through the castle set piece that covers both ends of the stage. Most
of the set was made of wood and metal coming together to make certain things work, like one of the
scenes had a genie lift being used for Tim and a wooden platform for the lady of the lake. Projection
was also used to give a scene more to life, like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The show clicks on all cylinders from start to finish. The show captures the spirit and the comedy of
the original movie and then some. The whole time I was feeling happy and laughing because of the
humor which varies from toilet humor to some really smart ones the Lancelot is a fairy one quite
funny if you get the joke. The cast really connected with the characters and each other. With the cast
you did get a feel of how the show was going to go. There was that classic Fourth wall break it s very
interesting how it was done and how everything was planned. This show made me feel good on the
inside out and that s good enough for me. All in all Coral reef SR.high version of spamalot was a good
ride from start to finish from the set, the music, and the overall feel of the show. It s not every day that

Caribbean Jazz Concert Report
On October the 20th, Thursday, 2014 I went to a Kompa Night Afro Haitian Caribbean Jazz concert
that was located at
I have always loved to go to jazz concert and I thought it was a great idea and experience that we get
to hear other music and see the effect that music not only has for us but other people. I had the abilities
to sit next to other people and hear one of the most wonderful piece of music that was created by the
artist which made me feel mature and accepted into the music world. Before I sat and let the concert
start I got to see the instrument that was there to play. I saw a Guitar, African drum, regular beating
drums, Keyboard, piano, and a weird quite rare thing they used which supposed to be a cowbell. The

Another thing I appreciate from the concert is the transition from the different tome of song and the
different sounding they would create also. The rich legacy of traditional Afro Haitian rhythms and
melodies, and blends them with the instrumentation, melodic/harmonic sensibilities and improvisation
of modern jazz. I could not really explain the lyric and the song being played because it is not what I
usually hear but know the language, the main point of the songs that was being play were about love,
inner soul, and tribute to our country and culture Haiti and many others as well. The history in this
concert brought my attention to something quite similar that is called Rara. Rara is the music played
throughout Kanaval, an anarchic folk meets punk collision of drums, voices and bamboo sticks which
all creates an exciting, energizing soundtrack to Kanaval in Haiti. Rara bands tour the countryside for
days at a time accosting people, car drivers and anyone in their way, demanding payment before they
move on and the crowd of musicians and singers gets bigger all the time. I remember seeing this event
that happened every year when

Businesses and Proprietorship
Businesses are started every day, and each one is different in its own special way, but no matter what
type of business it is, a sole proprietorship, a general or limited partnership, a C or S corporation, or a
limited liability it will still be affected in some way by seven basic characteristics. The characteristics
of business; liability, income tax, longevity or continuity, control, profit retention, location, and
convenience or burden. In this paper a description of each business type and how they are affected by
the seven characteristics of business will be given, showing the clear advantage and disadvantages of
each type of business.
Sole proprietorship
A sole proprietorship is a business that has no legal separate existence from its owner.
The characteristics that are the greatest advantages to this type of business are its freedoms. A sole
proprietorship has complete control and decision making power over the business. There are no
corporate tax payments and profits are not shared; however income and losses are taxed on the
individual s personal income tax return.
And this brings me to the disadvantages of owning a sole proprietorship. Liability is the biggest; it
falls solely on the owner of the business. In the event that penalties or debts have to be paid, payments
come from the personal assets of the owner. The burdens that come with maintaining the business and
the standards of it fall on the owner despite the number of employees. The success of the

Dysfunctional Leadership
Dysfunctional leadership suffocate others with coercive power and ego, are unpredictable, and often
lack self awareness about their dysfunction (Shuck, Rose, Bergman, 2015).It has an emphasis on
selfishness, as its primary focus is on the leader s goals and objectives contrasted with the needs of
employees and the greater social organization. The impacts of dysfunctional leadership are felt in the
outcomes of the organization that undermines the quality of life for individuals who are could either
be internal or external to the organization and undermine their fundamental objectives. Undesirable
organizational consequences are the result of a dysfunctional leader behavior and vulnerable followers

Several studies suggest that followers require security, safety, predictability, and group membership in
an unstable world. Certain followers gain from dysfunctional activities making contributions to the
toxic foresight of the leader. Needs for identity, social order, coordination of collective activity, and
cohesion exists at the team level. An expected drive to for individuals to conform to group norms,
impersonate people of high status, and submit to figures of authority is also present. As such, it is
important to differentiate the diverse varieties of vulnerable populations. Some followers lack well
defined self concept and those who share in values of the leader, bystanders who let bad leadership to
take place, and acolytes who are the true believers who subscribe to the destruction. Collectively, there
is a creation of two groups of followers which includes the colluders and the conformers (Manning
Curtis, 2015). Colluders actively take part in the agenda of the dysfunctional leader whereas
conformers obey with the dysfunctional leader due to fear. Both categories of followers are driven by
selfishness though have varying concerns. While colluders pursue personal advancement through
involvement with a dysfunctional leader, including promotion and prevention inspiration, conformers
seek to reduce the outcomes of not going along. The foundation of conformers susceptibility is on
negative self assessments, unmet basic needs, and emotional immaturity. Conversely, colluders are
selfish, ambitious and share the worldviews of the dysfunctional

Compare And Contrast Monet And American Impressionism
I visited the Monet and American Impressionism at the Hunter Art Museum in Chattanooga. This
exhibition was interesting to attend because I saw the displays and the art and then learned more about
them while taking this class. I absolutely loved this exhibit. There were many paintings of nature
scenes, portraits of women, and urban portrayals of cities. A couple of the artists displayed were, of
course Claude Monet, Childe Hassam, Mary Cassatt, and Helen Maria Turner. Each of the paintings in
the exhibition were dated between 1880 and 1920 and stuck with the overall Impressionist style. There
were five prominent themes from this collection. These include Monet s Giverny landscapes,
Urbanism, country landscapes, domestic gardens and rooms, graphic prints. There was an overall
domestic theme of all of these paintings. They related to some real life landscapes I have experienced
myself. There was a painting in the collection that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

concept: thoughtful girls in sunlit settings, painted with broken strokes in similar colors. Each of these
paintings depict a portrait of a woman gazing into something like a mirror or a box. In Miller s
painting, the woman is painted from the back, while the woman in Frieseke s is shown from the front.
Both of the paintings are oil on canvas, and painted around 1915. Girl in Blue portrays a woman who
is getting ready. She seems as if she is just going about her normal day s routine. However in La
Toilette, I feel like the woman in the painting is getting ready for a date. The exposed shoulder makes
her seem so much more youthful, but elegant. This painting uses more vibrant colors in the

Comparsion of Jack London s The Call of the Wild and John...
This is the four line epigraph present on the first page of The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Before
you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of
the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one
place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic
longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time,
your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to
flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara
means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways.
Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition
s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being
waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need
to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O
Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to
our natural instincts. All in all Old longings nomadic leap, Chafing at custom s chain; Again from its

Reflective Essay On Stress Management
Stress management course has been very exciting for me because I never thought that these small
stresses about my daily life could change my personality and the way I see this world. I wasn t
expecting that yoga can do any good against stress; Because now I ve done a lot of sessions in last 3
weeks, I can guarantee that I can get rid of stress in next few weeks.
I always wonder how I was unknown to this treasure of art; all those years when I was living in India,
I never tried it, but here, I m making it my daily habit. The word yoga comes from ancient Indian. It
has been a great part of Hinduism which is third most followed and practiced religion in the world.
There are some other religions like Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism which also practice yoga in a certain
way,but it s said that yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a
healthy body. Maybe that s why it has become so popular among all. Everyone is eager to learn and

I want, wherever I want to; there s no limitation to that. Moreover, there is no need for me to do

Corrupt The Youth Of Athens
Men of Athens, you accuse me of corrupting the youth of Athens, but I must combat this accusation.
The fact that this trial is being held is preposterous and honestly a waste of time and focus for Athens.
Before you can accuse me of corrupting the the youth, you must first ask yourself who really
positively influences the youth in society? It certainly cannot be the laws because the laws are not a
person rather a thing...correct? So It must be all the councilors and members of the assembly that
improve the youth. If all of these men here today have an influence on the youth, then it is rather
absurd to assume that I alone am the sole corrupter. So now you associate me with being apart of this

If you take any property of an object and separate it from the physical object, considering it by itself,
then you are contemplating a form. For example, if you separate the squareness of a dice from its
color, and its weight, etc. Now consider just squareness by itself, you are thinking of the form of
squareness. This property exists apart from the dice, in a different mode of existence than the dice.
The form is not just the idea of squareness you have in your mind. It exists independently of the dice
and independently of whether someone thinks of it. All square objects, not just this dice, participate or
copy this same form of squareness. What if we took something harder to explain such as beauty? We
usually associate beauty with people s bodies. So to truly understand beauty you have to appreciate all
beautiful bodies. After that you have to see the beauty in not just the body, but more importantly the
mind. The result of this is you will see beauty in practices and laws, and that every type beauty is

Theseus And The Minotaur
There are many examples of heroes throughout history and in story books that convey great messages,
but what makes your leaders heroes? There are many attributes that make a hero but there are three
main areas. To be a hero, one must be willing to make many sacrifices, be humble and not expect
anything from the actions, and make positive changes. To be a hero means to sacrifice something for
someone else no matter the circumstances or dangers. An example of this is in the myth Theseus and
the Minotaur. It gives a great example of sacrifice and heroism. Powerful king Minos of Crete
demands Athenian women and men every year to feed to the Minotaur. When Theseus heard about
this, he was not happy. He took the place of one of the sacrificed men and went to the labyrinth of the
Minotaur to try and kill the beast himself. Theseus then expressed his feelings of frustration by saying
saying, When it is time to send the next tribute, I will go as one of them and I vow that it is the last
time the Minotaur will be fed with the flesh of any of our people. Theseus was strong and was willing
to put himself in danger for the safety of his people. Not many people have the courage to sacrifice
themselves. Parents make sacrifices every day. Think of how hard mothers or fathers works to make
money, to keep the kids happy, to feed them, to clean up after everyone, to get their kids where they
what to go. My mom makes sacrifices everyday. She takes my brother dance right after a long

Azar Nafisi uses the power of western literature to illustrate to her seven women students the
importance of connecting books to fictional imagination. She wanted to challenge her students to
discuss the relation between fiction and reality. (Pg 6) Women in Tehran, when the Iranian revolution
began, had little or no freedoms out of their houses. Nafisi took an enormous risk by inviting these
seven women into her house to discuss literature. If caught she and or her students could face jail time

was constantly reinventing himself, being dishonest about his life and background, but in order to

dream, his life would have no meaning. Gatsby, like most Iranian women, needed to learn that the past
was dead, the present is what we have today, and the future is what we can create in our own dreams

paying the price for his horrible decisions. In Macbeth, guilt can lead to insanity and irrational

he talks to the imaginary dagger. Before Macbeth enters the castle to kill King Duncan, Macbeth says,

Streptococcus pneumoniae Essay
Streptococcus pneumoniae
Life History
Streptococcus pneumoniae is found worldwide. The common host is the human body, in which it often
does not cause disease but at other times it can cause diseses in particular, pneumonia. It also causes
otitis media, bacteremia, meningitis, peritonitis, and sinusitis. The route by which this organism is
spread is from human to human in the form of aerosol droplets. When inside the host the organism s
primary site of pneumococcal colonization is the nasopharynx. From this site it can aspire to the lungs,
eventually spread to the blood and traverse the blood brain barrier to the meninges, once inside the
blood it can cause infections throughout the body. Symptoms of the disease include sudden ... Show

pneumoniae and there chemotactic signals and the host cell s alternate pathway, invade the alveoli.
Also red blood cells are recruited to this site. In the third stage, mostly neutrophils are packed into the
alveoli and very few bacteria remain. In the final stage, macrophages eliminate the remaining residue
from the inflammatory response. As one can see, the damage which is done to the lung is largely a
result of the host s inflammatory response, which causes the build up of fluids in the lungs. If S.
pneumoniae is allowed to persist in the lungs it can then invade the blood, which causes bacteremia.
When in the blood it can traverse the blood brain barrier and infect the meninges, which results in
meningitis. S. pneumoniae is also associated with diseases in other parts of the respiratory tract
including the paranasal sinuses, which is better known as sinusitis, and the middle ear can become
infected, which is known as otitis media. It has also been known to cause peritonitis, an inflammation
of the peritoneum, the membrane that lines the abdominal wall, and it is also implicated in causing
arthritis.
Diagnosis
A gram stain is performed from the sputum of the infected patient. The presence of neutrophils and
greater than ten gram positive diplococci usually results in the diagnosis of Streptococcus
pneumoniae. For further conformation of this organism, it is streaked on blood agar. When on blood
agar the organism should

describe the types of dementia
P1 describe the types of dementia In this assignment I am going to be describing 3 different types of
dementia. I will be looking at Alzheimer s disease, Vascular dementia and Lewy body dementia. I will
be looking at what these dementias are, what the signs are and what the symptoms are. Dementia is a
common condition that affects 800,000 people in the UK, someone s risk of developing dementia
increases as you get older and the condition usually occurs in people over the age of 65 years old.
Dementia is a syndrome associated with on going decline of the brain and its abilities. This includes

This early stage is known as vascular cognitive impairment. If the disease is caught at this stage, the
brain deterioration can be stopped and vascular dementia can be prevented. People with vascular
cognitive impairment may begin to show dementia symptoms, such as slowness of thought, difficulty
with planning, memory loss, trouble with language and mood or behavioural changes. These
symptoms indicate that some brain damage has already occurred and needs to be treated immediately.
(www.bbc/vasculardementia/symptoms.com) Once vascular cognitive impairment progresses to
vascular dementia the disease can only be slowed down, not stopped. At this stage the dementia
symptoms will usually be much more obvious and may be made worse by depression. The exact
symptoms will depend on which areas of the brain have been affected. The most common causes of
vascular dementia is narrowing and blockage of the small blood vessels deep inside the brain. The
medical name for this is subcortical vascular dementia or small vessel disease. Most cases of small
vessels disease result from inheriting certain genes from your parents, so it is often seen running in
families. Persistent high blood pressure is thought to play a role and many worsen the disease.
Because of high influence of high blood pressure, vascular dementia may be partly preventable.

My Family As An Extended Family
Introduction From an early age I placed a very high value on being a part of my family. At first it was
most likely feeling safe and secure. That being said, I had the logical realization that family was
important. Of special importance were grandparents and the extended family members. Being born in
a town where both sets of grandparents resided in addition to all the rest of my extended family was
very comforting to me. Being the first born grandchild had its advantages. I became very attached to
all the grandparents and enjoyed love, attention and quality time frequently until the first grade when
we moved. When my younger sister was born, I never felt replaced or left out because of the quality
time my grandparents invested in me. Even after my family moved a state away we always went back
for holidays, birthdays and summer vacations. I have a great deal of wonderful memories from my
childhood. My mother s father, my grandfather, was a very large presence in the community. He was
well respected in both the white as well as the black community in which he owned a grocery store.
This was unusual because there was a lot of racial tension and discrimination in Southern Alabama in
the 1960 s. He was a tall man at six foot five and was a hard worker. He often bailed people out of jail
and helped them with food when they were financially strapped anonymously. He was a Sunday
school teacher and had good moral values. I learned later that before I came along he had been an
alcoholic, a smoker, had been known for his quick temper, was not religious and had been unfaithful
to my grandmother. As it was told to me, one Sunday morning he got up, got dressed, went to church
and never took another drink or smoked again and was a radically changed man. He became a kind,
caring, charitable person. He was more of a father to me in many ways than my dad and we had long
talks in which he stressed the important things in life. He and my grandmother took my sister and I
fishing on the lake. We camped in the camper. We stayed for vacations at the Gulf of Mexico. The
stories he told, lessons I learned and loving affection he genuinely offered is something I consider a
gift I have never forgotten. The reason I never forgot is

Examples Of Paganism In Beowulf
The author of Beowulf is a Christian. Anglo Saxons are not Christians so they believe in pagan beliefs.
After time went by, Pagans became Christians , but kept their pagan beliefs. Pagans kept the monsters
and dying because of fate in the stories they told. Later on, Christians taught them that their life was
not ruled by fate, but the decisions they make (41). Beowulf is a Christian poem because it tells you
the background of what happened in the Bible.
In Beowulf, Grendel is a descendant of Cain. In the Bible Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel, but in the
text Grendel s mother and the unknown father made Grendel. Cain is a killer, just as in the text
Grendel would go into the Herot and smashed up thirty men (42). The same way Grendel is a killer,
they devil is a killer too. Grendel went and killed, steal, and destroy, just as the scriptures says the
thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy ( John. 10.10). The author wrote Beowulf as a Christian
perspective instead of it being in a pagan perspective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.1).In Beowulf, heaven is represented by the Herot. Jesus made heaven to where you can worship
him. In Beowulf, you went to the Herot to worship the creations he had made. Grendel s mother is
described as steams like black clouds, and snakelike roots that reach as far as the water and help keep
it dark (51) is represented of hell because it is underground and a place nobody wants to go. The
author decided to use a reference as this because the audience would know the difference between
heaven and hell, and good and

Reflective Essay On Tolerance In Society
Tolerance, the ability to accept and defend others despite differences in views and ideas, is something
that can be easily forgotten yet is the foundation for peace between people. As someone who grew up
in a very open minded family, I would have never thought I d be someone who still needs to learn to
be more tolerant, but in 6th grade I discovered that that was exactly what I had to do.
8:45 AM, September 11th 2001: The first plane collides with the North Tower of the World Trade
Center. During the following weeks the screams of victims and grieving families permeated the
country s air, but under those screams came quieter yet damaging whispers. Whispers of intolerance,
generalizing all muslim people and blaming them for the actions of a sole extremist group. Whispers
that even today, over 16 years later, can still be heard and felt across America. Hateful whispers that,
though damaging and cruel, have led to some like myself learning the importance of becoming more
tolerant.
For most of my childhood, I lived in mostly white areas with an insignificant amount of exposure to
people different than myself. This meant that I grew up hearing the discriminatory whispers against
Muslim people from the people that I went to school with. Although I logically knew that judging
someone for something so miniscule such as race or religion is ridiculous, subconsciously a lingering
subtle fear remained. I ve learned since then that this fear and lack of tolerance is not one created

Antz Civics
The movie Antz relates to the ideas we have studied in Civics in many ways. The idea in the movie
that different ants have different thoughts on how the country should be run, the idea of what a good
ant citizen should be like and the idea that all ants have their own physical and psychological needs
and wants are all similar topics we have discussed in Civics concerning the world we live in today.
The first character I will discuss is Z. Z believed that he should get a choice in how he contributes to
colony, and a say in what goes on in the colony. Z wanted a place where he could express himself.
These ideas are what lead Z in search of place with more freedom, Insectopia. Evidently, Z believes in
democracy. This government would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do what they are told, openly support the ways of the colony and are hesitant to disobey the
rules. An example of this is when Z was sharing his unhappiness of the way the colony is run to
Azteca. Regardless of what her friend was saying, Azteca stayed true to her colony and verbalized her
support for the government system. A colony needs loyal ants like this. Another example is when Z
asks to switch places with weaver and become a soldier for a day. Although Z is a good friend, weaver
is reluctant to say yes as this is against the rules. Members that follow these rules are vital to the
success of a colony. In these ways, Azteca and Weaver act in the interest of the colony. Characters that
acted in their own interests are Z and General Mandible. They make choices based on their own
beliefs and what makes them happy, regardless of the impacts it has on the colony. An example of this
is when Z and Princess Bala fall out of the colony and on to outside land. The princess demands that
she is escorted back as the princess is very important to a colony. Despite this and the needs of the
colony, Z marches towards Insectopia, prioritizing his desire for freedom over the survival of the
colony. Another example is when General Mandible attempted to mass murder thousands of ants
because he felt they were too weak. This kind of behavior is selfish and only supports the interests of
him gaining more power. As

Taylor s view of motivation applies to people who tend to work within narrow job confines such as on a production line. These are people who can be paid according to the amount of work that they do or units they produce. This is known as piece work . For many people pay is still a prime motivator. For example, within Kellogg s many employees are motivated by cash alternatives which include the opportunity to buy and sell their holiday days. Taylor s theory breaks down jobs into components or specialist tasks through the division of labour. This especially applies to production processes within large companies like Kellogg s. These rewards can help to increase productivity and profitability. The danger with this is that individuals are simply focused on output to get rewards so quality might suffer as a result of employees rushing to do the job. Scientific management is not a process that allows development of people. It limits their ability to take ownership of what they do. Kellogg s staff are encouraged to be creative and use their imagination to contribute towards change. Consequently, Taylor s view of monetary reward for output is not appropriate for the motivation required for this type of workplace. Maslow Maslow s theory relates motivation to a hierarchy of needs. At the bottom are essential physiological needs such as air, food, shelter and clothing. As individuals satisfy one level of need, their motivations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other factors linked to economic issues caused by war, such as hyperinflation and the war guilt clause which `led to much suffering for the German people through loss of savings and jobs and The constitution further hindered the stability of the government as it was fundamentally flawed. Although the putsches were too weak and disorganized to seize power in the earlier years of Weimar it is significant that the putsches happened at all thus highlighting the looming threat of the extreme right. The left wing, although a potential for disaster and threat, was not as great a threat as the right to Weimar. The KPD can be seen as a reasonable political force in the years of 1919 23 as it enjoyed support of 10 15% of the electorate a there were continuous revolutionary disturbances. However, the endless protests, strikes and uprisings by the extreme left gave the impression of a Bolshevik inspired threat to Germany. Whereas the opposition of the left, army, the police and friekorps easily crushed rebellions; removing the strong leadership of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. Thus due to propaganda as a result of right wing parties, Germans began to have exaggerated fears about the possibility of impending revolution. Revolution in Germany was a central element of Lenin s foreign policy and the people were also aware that the soviet red army had caused revolution in Poland. However, the perception of the threat of the extreme left never matched the reality. The revolutionary left was divided (USPD/KPD) and did not benefit from widespread worker support. • 5. Human History Literacy Rates Have Continued Essay Human history literacy rates have continued to hike. Children now attend school than at any other point in history. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching the universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough. As famous scholars had noted in human history, education is the precondition for success and unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic and social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank, currently there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school. Even the rest of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life after school. Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one cannot fail to see how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the importance of having a government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education, however is not an easy task bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage of teachers, resources and use of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and act consequently before they expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101). This paper shall carefully examine early childhood education and the effectiveness of the universal interventions made globally. There have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within hours, thousands of Germans were clamouring at the wall demanding to be let through. (Allen 38). The Germans had lost most of their respect for those with the government in any way and they showed this through their actions both physically and mentally. Halpern believes this can be achieved if traditional fishing should be limited from marine protected areas to allow maintenance of these fisheries. But when speaking about sustainable approaches for our marine resources with the public there s a lot of resistance because the public tends to view these areas as excluded. In other words, the public is not allowed traditional fishing, water sports, or other similar activities in those areas. That s why there are different types of sustainable use and management of those resources. Areas like nursery grounds to protect ecosystems are different from other areas settled for fishing species like the commercial lobster, for example. Some species are set aside and protected until they reach a certain growth so then they can eventually migrate to an area where they can be reached by local officials. General Student Population College students are a unique population of people who have a variety of different stressors than people who do not attend college (Holinka, 2015). Post secondary education is a stressful time for both traditional and nontraditional students (Yarbrough Schaffer, 1990). Navigating through a new chapter in life increases the amount of stress on an individual. Development means what we can do for them , here we denotes the first world countries or the west and them refers to the developing countries. This essay will discuss the issue based on three different perspectives of three well known references The End of Poverty: How we can make it happen in our lifetime by Sachs (Sachs, 2005); The Bottom Billion by Collier (Collier, 2007) and Easterly s The White Man s Burden (Easterly, 2007). Each of these three writers has different notion regarding the view that development of poor countries depends upon the western countries support. Sachs supports the discussion topic that development of Third World countries is only possible if the developed countries provide financial support to them. Africa needs around $30 billion per year in aid in order to escape from poverty (Sachs, 2005: 309). He believes that a society needs external help to be in track when it falls into deep crisis (Sachs, 2005: 130). According to Jeffrey Sachs, foreign aid is the only solution for the poor countries to eradicate extreme poverty and to break down the poverty trap cycle (Sachs, 2005: 245). Without doubt, it is portrayed in the play that Willy is unfaithful to his wife, and even Biff ends up stumbling on him while cheating. However, Willy maintains the appearance that he is constantly being honest and faithful in his marriage. His wife, Linda does not know the reality of their marriage. The Lowman family finally accepts that they are not successful, nor of great importance to the companies as they deem themselves to be. Acid-Base Titration Lab Report Mariam Sy May 8, 2014 Acid Base Titration Lab Write up Introduction: Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration. Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution: (Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the unknown solution. The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the solution is acidic or pink which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The history in this concert brought my attention to something quite similar that is called Rara. Rara is the music played throughout Kanaval, an anarchic folk meets punk collision of drums, voices and bamboo sticks which all creates an exciting, energizing soundtrack to Kanaval in Haiti. Businesses and Proprietorship Businesses are started every day, and each one is different in its own special way, but no matter what type of business it is, a sole proprietorship, a general or limited partnership, a C or S corporation, or a limited liability it will still be affected in some way by seven basic characteristics. The characteristics of business; liability, income tax, longevity or continuity, control, profit retention, location, and convenience or burden. In this paper a description of each business type and how they are affected by the seven characteristics of business will be given, showing the clear advantage and disadvantages of each type of business. Sole proprietorship A sole proprietorship is a business that has no legal separate existence from its owner. The characteristics that are the greatest advantages to this type of business are its freedoms. A sole proprietorship has complete control and decision making power over the business. There are no corporate tax payments and profits are not shared; however income and losses are taxed on the individual s personal income tax return. And this brings me to the disadvantages of owning a sole proprietorship. Liability is the biggest; it falls solely on the owner of the business. In the event that penalties or debts have to be paid, payments come from the personal assets of the owner. The burdens that come with maintaining the business and the standards of it fall on the owner despite the number of employees. The success of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time, your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways. Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to our natural instincts. • 32. Theseus And The Minotaur There are many examples of heroes throughout history and in story books that convey great messages, but what makes your leaders heroes? There are many attributes that make a hero but there are three main areas. To be a hero, one must be willing to make many sacrifices, be humble and not expect anything from the actions, and make positive changes. To be a hero means to sacrifice something for someone else no matter the circumstances or dangers. An example of this is in the myth Theseus and the Minotaur. It gives a great example of sacrifice and heroism. Powerful king Minos of Crete demands Athenian women and men every year to feed to the Minotaur. When Theseus heard about this, he was not happy. He took the place of one of the sacrificed men and went to the labyrinth of the Minotaur to try and kill the beast himself. Theseus then expressed his feelings of frustration by saying saying, When it is time to send the next tribute, I will go as one of them and I vow that it is the last time the Minotaur will be fed with the flesh of any of our people. Theseus was strong and was willing to put himself in danger for the safety of his people. Not many people have the courage to sacrifice themselves. Parents make sacrifices every day. As one can see, the damage which is done to the lung is largely a result of the host s inflammatory response, which causes the build up of fluids in the lungs. If S. pneumoniae is allowed to persist in the lungs it can then invade the blood, which causes bacteremia. Being born in a town where both sets of grandparents resided in addition to all the rest of my extended family was very comforting to me. Being the first born grandchild had its advantages. • 40. Examples Of Paganism In Beowulf The author of Beowulf is a Christian. Anglo Saxons are not Christians so they believe in pagan beliefs. After time went by, Pagans became Christians , but kept their pagan beliefs. Pagans kept the monsters and dying because of fate in the stories they told. Later on, Christians taught them that their life was not ruled by fate, but the decisions they make (41). Beowulf is a Christian poem because it tells you the background of what happened in the Bible. In Beowulf, Grendel is a descendant of Cain. In the Bible Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel, but in the text Grendel s mother and the unknown father made Grendel. Cain is a killer, just as in the text Grendel would go into the Herot and smashed up thirty men (42). The same way Grendel is a killer, they devil is a killer too. Grendel went and killed, steal, and destroy, just as the scriptures says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy ( John. 10.10). The author wrote Beowulf as a Christian perspective instead of it being in a pagan perspective. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.1).In Beowulf, heaven is represented by the Herot. Jesus made heaven to where you can worship him. In Beowulf, you went to the Herot to worship the creations he had made. • 41. Reflective Essay On Tolerance In Society Tolerance, the ability to accept and defend others despite differences in views and ideas, is something that can be easily forgotten yet is the foundation for peace between people. As someone who grew up in a very open minded family, I would have never thought I d be someone who still needs to learn to be more tolerant, but in 6th grade I discovered that that was exactly what I had to do. 8:45 AM, September 11th 2001: The first plane collides with the North Tower of the World Trade Center. During the following weeks the screams of victims and grieving families permeated the country s air, but under those screams came quieter yet damaging whispers. Whispers of intolerance, generalizing all muslim people and blaming them for the actions of a sole extremist group. Whispers that even today, over 16 years later, can still be heard and felt across America. Hateful whispers that, though damaging and cruel, have led to some like myself learning the importance of becoming more tolerant. For most of my childhood, I lived in mostly white areas with an insignificant amount of exposure to people different than myself. This meant that I grew up hearing the discriminatory whispers against Muslim people from the people that I went to school with. Although I logically knew that judging someone for something so miniscule such as race or religion is ridiculous, subconsciously a lingering subtle fear remained. I ve learned since then that this fear and lack of tolerance is not one created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Antz Civics The movie Antz relates to the ideas we have studied in Civics in many ways. The idea in the movie that different ants have different thoughts on how the country should be run, the idea of what a good ant citizen should be like and the idea that all ants have their own physical and psychological needs and wants are all similar topics we have discussed in Civics concerning the world we live in today. The first character I will discuss is Z. Z believed that he should get a choice in how he contributes to colony, and a say in what goes on in the colony. Z wanted a place where he could express himself. These ideas are what lead Z in search of place with more freedom, Insectopia. Evidently, Z believes in democracy. This government would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They do what they are told, openly support the ways of the colony and are hesitant to disobey the rules. An example of this is when Z was sharing his unhappiness of the way the colony is run to Azteca. Regardless of what her friend was saying, Azteca stayed true to her colony and verbalized her support for the government system. A colony needs loyal ants like this. Another example is when Z asks to switch places with weaver and become a soldier for a day. Although Z is a good friend, weaver is reluctant to say yes as this is against the rules. Members that follow these rules are vital to the success of a colony. In these ways, Azteca and Weaver act in the interest of the colony. Characters that acted in their own interests are Z and General Mandible. They make choices based on their own beliefs and what makes them happy, regardless of the impacts it has on the colony. An example of this is when Z and Princess Bala fall out of the colony and on to outside land. The princess demands that she is escorted back as the princess is very important to a colony. Despite this and the needs of the colony, Z marches towards Insectopia, prioritizing his desire for freedom over the survival of the colony. Another example is when General Mandible attempted to mass murder thousands of ants because he felt they were too weak. This kind of behavior is selfish and only supports the interests of him gaining more power. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
