Definition of a NounA noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
Abstract NounsAbstract nouns are ideas.  They are nouns you can’t see.Examples:  friendship, strength, love, exploration, anger
Collective NounsCollective nouns are used to define a group of objects.Examples: team, class, group, herd
Common NounsA common noun is a general name for a person, place, thing  or idea.  Common nouns are not capitalized.Example:  My teacher went to the city.
Proper NounsA proper noun is the name of a particular person, place, thing or idea.  Proper nouns are always capitalized.Example:  Mrs. Short went to Atlanta.
Plural and Singular NounsA plural noun names more than one person, place, thing or idea. Example:  The boys walked down all of the streets.A singular noun  names one person, place, thing or idea.Example:  The boy walked down the street.
Possessive NounsA possessive noun shows ownership or relationship.Example:  Marcy went to Robin’s house for dinner.
