3. A noun is a word used to name a person, place, or
a thing.
Here are some examples of nouns:
Nouns for People/person- student, teacher,
mother, woman, man, minister.
Nouns for Places- school, park, garden, mall,
home.
Nouns for Things- book, chair, table, pencil.

5. Common and Proper Nouns
A common noun is a word or a name used for
naming a person, a place, an object, or any living
things in general terms. It is normally spelled in a
small letter.
A proper nouns refers to a specific name of a
person, place, thing, or idea and is always
capitalized no matter where they fall in sentences.

7. Concrete and Abstract Nouns
A concrete noun can be perceived by our five
senses. It can be touched, seen, felt, smelled, or
tasted.
An abstract noun refers to a concept and feelings
that cannot be touched physically.

multiple items.

A plural noun is a word used to refer to more than one
person, place, thing, or idea. It’s the form of a noun that
denotes multiple instances of the entity it represents.

• Basic Rule (Add “s”): Most nouns simply add “s” to
form the plural.

Compound nouns have three forms:
Open or spaced- there is space between words.
Example: Credit card
Hypenated- there is a hypen between words.
Example: Mother-in-law
Closed or solid- there is no space or hypen between words.
Example: Rainfall
