Nonwoven Fabric is a fabric-like material
made from long fibers, bonded together by
chemical, mechanical, heat or solvent
treatment. The term is used in the textile
manufacturing industry to denote fabrics,
such as felt, which are neither woven nor
knitted. Nonwoven materials typically lack
strength unless densified or reinforced by a
backing.
 Nonwoven fabrics are broadly defined as
sheet or web structures bonded together by
entangling fiber or filaments (and by
perforating films) mechanically, thermally, or
chemically. They are flat, porous sheets that
are made directly from separate fibers or
from molten plastic or plastic film.
 Nonwovens have specific characteristics that allow them to deliver
high-performance across a wide range of applications. Specific
functions include:
- Absorbency - liquid repellency
- Resilience - stretch
- Softness - strength
- flame retardancy - wash ability (selective
products),
- Cushioning - filtering
- bacterial barrier and sterility
 First, spunlace non-woven fabric
 Spunlaced process is high-pressure micro flow injection into a
layer or layers of fibrous web, so that the fibers are twisted
together, so that the web can be strengthened and have a certain
strength.
 Second, a non-woven fabric
 Thermal bonded nonwovens is defined in the web of fibrous or
powder adding hot-melt adhesive reinforcement material, web
after heating melt cooling reinforcement into cloth.
 Third, pulp airlaid nonwoven fabric
 Air-laid non-woven fabrics can be called clean paper, paper non-
woven fabrics. It is the use of airlaid pulp fiber plate technology
will be opening a single fiber state, and then use the airflow
method of making fiber agglutination in a curtain net, web
reinforcement into cloth.
 Fourth, wet nonwoven fabrics
 Wet nonwoven fabric is placed in water medium fiber
opening into single fibers, while the different fiber raw
material mixing, into the fiber suspension slurry,
suspension slurry to web forming mechanism, fiber in
wet state into the net reinforcement into cloth.
 Fifth, spunbonded nonwoven fabric
 Spunbonded nonwoven fabric is in the polymer has
been extruded, stretched and form a continuous
filament, filament laying into the net, the web
through the self bonding, thermal bonding, chemical
bonding or mechanical reinforcement method, make
the web into a non-woven fabric.
 Sixth, melt-blown nonwoven fabric

 Nonwovens are used
effectively for optimising
the productivity of crops,
gardens and
greenhouses.Their
protective nature means
that the need for
pesticides is reduced and
manual labour is kept to
a minimum.
 Ex.
 Crop covers
 Plant protection
 Seed blankets
 Weed control fabrics
 Greenhouse shading
 Root control bags
 Biodegradable plant pots
 Capillary matting
 Landscape fabric
Filter cartridges, filter
plates, filter bags and
Eco-Protect safety
filters for industrial dust
removal applications,
with high-performance
filter media made of
nonwovens.
 Nonwoven textiles play a significant role in the medical
sector. The product range includes surgical gowns, masks
and other wearable products; surgical drapes, pads;
dressings; filtration materials; and implantable textiles
such as tissue scaffolds for rebuilding internal organs,
among other products.
By far, most nonwoven products used outside the body
are disposable, single-use articles that have the advantage
of not requiring sterilization or cleaning for reuse.
However, there are some that can be reused to provide
the required function over a limited period of time.
The U.S. Marine Corps has taken the initiative to
develop state-of-the-art nonwoven composite
fabric technology for use as alternate fabric
application for Combat Utility Uniforms (CUUs),
equipment and shelters. This effort is being
conducted via a Small Business Innovative
Research (SBIR) contract. Essentially, SBIRs are
very competitive and offer the perfect medium
in which to conduct what may be termed High-
Risk-Technology.
• Nonwovens for filtering
coolants and lubricants,
as well as washing,
phosphating and
coagulation baths in the
metal-processing
industry.
• Membrane support
nonwovens for filtering
fruit juices, enzymes,
electro-dip coating and
effluents.
 The use of nonwovens has increased
substantially in recent years.Today more than
40 automotive parts are made with nonwoven
fabrics, from trunk liners and carpets to air and
fuel filters. By building in the essential properties
which are necessary for good performance and
safety, nonwovens help reduce the weight of the
car, enhance the comfort and aesthetics and
provide advanced insulation, fire retardancy and
resistance to water, fuels, extremes of
temperature and abrasion.
 Quite strong composites prevents the planes
go off the runway track,
 - Aircraft or spacecraft parachutes slowing
down the speed,
 - Airbags,
 - Non-flammable face-guard and gloves,
 - Clean room fabrics. Filtration
 - Heat resistant outer surface felts
 Baby diapers
 Incontinence products
 Feminine hygiene items
Anti-radiation-type construction textiles will
be very important in the future.
- Foil, a special film, combined with materials
such as foam thermal insulation products
- Sound insulation
A broad spectrum of applications including:
- liners,
- counter liners,
- inter-liners and
- reinforcing materials
Membranes and insoles ensure a healthy foot
climate and a high degree of foot comfort.
 Water (2/9 Billion waterless), technologies that use less water.
Increase in disposable products
 Global society will grow older. (adult ages 65+ will be %17)UN
 - Global society will organize itself along networks of shared
interests that increasingly disregard physical and temporal
boundaires.
 - The rise of the global middle class (GMC) will create new
demands on the nonwovens and related industries, its operations
and related industries.
 - Obese ( USA %80, ENGLAND%70, BRAZIL%60, S.AFRICA,
and CHINA %50 in 2030) WHO
 - Climate change, resource scarcity and relativly high oil prices will
lead to the introduction of new corporate social responsibility
(CSR) standarts on all producers.
The worldwide use of nonwoven fabric is
increasing day-by-day and this large market is
controlled by the few number of countries. In
that case, Bangladesh has large opportunity to
capture this huge market by establishing a
significant number of nonwoven fabric
industries in Bangladesh. We have goodwill in
ready-made garments and over all textile
product sectors & by using this goodwill we can
easily create a market for non-woven products.
ThankYou!
