How Einstein And Ernest Rutherford Helped United States To...
Both Albert Einstein and Ernest Rutherford helped pave the way for countries to invent the nuclear
weapon. Einstein s Theory of Special Relativity and Rutherford s discovery of the atomic nucleus
all helped the United States to invent the bomb. In the book by Andrew Futter, the United States
began their experimenting on nuclear weapons with the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project
so called because the initial headquarters were on the Manhattan district of New York City began
in 1942 with the sole purpose of creating an atomic bomb before Nazi Germany. (Futter 17) Work
on the project was spread out all over the country; the main research center would be located at
Los Alamos in the New Mexico desert. There were two lines of research,

Power Informity In Amy Tan s The Rules Of The Game
In a familial hierarchy, it is transparent who is dominant and who is subordinate. The parents are at
the top, while the children are at the bottom. Parents make the rules, while the children follow them.
In the story The Rules of the Game , the author Amy Tan uses this model of familial hierarchy to
demonstrate the power dynamic between the mother and the daughter. The main protagonist,
Waverly Place Jong, is the youngest out of her two brothers and is the only daughter in the Jong
household. Her mother uses Chinese torture on Waverly to enforce and regulate her power has the
dominant. Throughout the story, the relationship between them is strained, as both compete to be
in control. Through the analysis of metaphor, symbolism, and tone in The Rules of the Game, Amy
Tan uses the power struggle between mother and daughter to demonstrate the existence of
conformity in a familial hierarchy, which plays a crucial role to one s pursuit role to gain
independence.
The story starts off by revealing a valuable advice Waverly s mother gives her when she was young.
I was six when my mother taught me the art of invisible strength. It was a strategy for winning
arguments, respect from others, and eventually, though neither of us knew it at the time, chess
games (Tan, 497). This advice played a pivotal role during Waverly s early life when she played
chess and competed in tournaments. Invisible strength symbolizes the self resilience to overcome
an obstacle. Waverly used invisible

Anti Vivisection Research Papers
In the early 18th centuries, a popular idea was launched with the hopes of finding significant
scientific animal research. The idea was known as a vivisection, which is defined as the practice of
performing operations on live animals for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research . By
the next century, the idea had taken off and the term vivisection was used specifically for people
that were completely opposed to the idea of using live animals for cruel and inhumane experiments,
researches, and projects. Now in the 21st century, many anti vivisection society s exist; including
American Anti Vivisection Society and the National Anti Vivisection Society, that were both based
off the grounds of ending harmful, cruel, and costly scientific experiments on animals. The truth
about vivisections are quite disturbing; what happens to the poor innocent animals is... Show more

Our standards now say that vivisections are extremely cruel and inhumane to animals. In fact, now
we have societies like American Anti Vivisection Society and the National Anti Vivisection Society,
that have to publicly announce that the experiments that are being performed on live animals are
unacceptable, and would never be allowed to be done to human; even in the name of science with a
whole expectation of helping other suffering humans. Vivisections are the practice of performing
operations on live animals for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research , but in reality
very little new scientific research is being added to the knowledge we already hold. Instead, we are
ruining lives of fellow living species and even potentially killing hundreds of thousands of animals;
and if that s complete cruelty and inhumanity against

Citizen Security Policy
The police plays a key role in any political regime. Whether liberal democracy or an authoritarian
regime, the police is responsible for internal security, law enforcement and channeling the claims of
justice. The actions of the police are linked to the performance of the regime, given that they are
the center of how the states responds to everyday problems. The police, not the members or mayors,
are usually the first public officials to whom people look to when security problems occur. The
perceptions of citizens on police work are therefore an important component in the legitimacy of the
system than confidence in other policies, such as congress, the political parties or the executive
institutions.

Primarily through a legal and political system of democratic type that fully guarantees its
development, safety and well both individually and collectively. The democratic state as the
realization of the power of an organized society can only make use of coercion and force within a
legitimate and legal system. To do this there needs to be a democratic structure, security privileges
of the human person and set distance to other models such as the set for the duration of the doctrine
of the National security where the beneficiary was unquestionably the authoritarian state. These
changes mean that the protection of democratic values and respect for a person are not strictly an
internal issue, but it becomes a foundational value protected by the internal community.
In that sense, the boundaries between internal and external have faded, creating a state of
sovereignty. It concludes that the issue of public safety, with an idea that is preferably applied
within sovereignty of a state extended to the concepts of not only regional but global security and
within them the idea that there are international crimes and crimes against humanity that threaten
the security of states and their citizens. That is why a public security policy should be based on
the framework of a democratic system in which the rule of law is in

Audacious Euphony Reflection
The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read Richard Cohn s
Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much information about voice leading can be
facilitated by just summing up the pitch class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which
extends the discussion from diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of
the similar voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I am
not sure about the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in
terms of its musical value. I am also not sure about the use of the pitch class clockfaces and the
current representation of pitch center of balance, and I wonder if there is... Show more content on

I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary voice leading
very useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical
properties. However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The
geometrical neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each
tetrachord can only link to one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion.
Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I
wonder how we can find out such pivotal set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case
of the space in trichords, I really curious about the cases when we are dealing with odd sum
classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords
(like p. 21) while that of an even sum class only contains one row of 6 trichords that is the also
axis of symmetry. Other than figuring out the pitch center of balance through the clockface or
arithmetical means, would there be some kind of geometrical significance? There are a lot of
interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to see more in depth relationship
between the pitches and the patterns I am looking

Functional Disorder
A functional disorder is when there is a medical abnormality that is present in the human body
but may not appear altered in structure. The disorders can be contributed by psychological
factors such as stress and anxiety because the illness tends to not have a detectable biological
cause. From the understanding that I have gain about this type of disorder is that it seems to be
more based on symptoms experienced by the people it affects. High blood pressure is a disorder
that happen for a long duration of time where blood is forced against artery walls and strains on
heart muscles. There are usually not many symptoms associated with this condition and the causes
can vary. The second example of a functional disorder is Irritable bowel syndrome... Show more

In my review of chronic illnesses, there were many contributing factors associated with the
causes such as environmental, habits in diet, genetic predisposition and age. Asthma is a
condition where the airways are swollen and extra mucus is produced which makes it difficult to
breath. People would asthma may experience shortness of breath and chest pain. Inhalers can
assist in the treatment but there is no cure present. Another chronic illness is Type 2 Diabetes
which affects how the body processes glucose, whether it is resisting the hormone insulin, or
unable to produce an efficient amount. Symptoms associated with this type of diabetes includes
frequent urination, fatigue and vision that is blurred. There are medications to treat the illness,
but the disease is lifelong. Osteoporosis is an aging condition in which bones are weak. Linked
with this disorder is loss of height, stoop posture and back pain. There are medication used to
assist with this condition as well as healthy habits such as calcium intake and exercise. Coronary
artery disease occurs when there is plague build up in the arteries and leads to the decrease in
blood circulation. Symptoms connected to the disease include chest pain, heart attacks and
shortness of breath. The final disease I read about which a neurological disorder that triggers

Socrates And Good Brahmin s View On Philosophy
A comparison of both Socrates and the Good Brahmin s attitudes and my view on philosophy
Dr. James Frey
University of the People Introduction
Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence,
knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. (Wiki, n.d.). For years there have been
philosophers of this earth who seek to answer these fundamental questions and come up with
varying views on these vital questions. For this assignment I will compare and contrast the
philosophical views of Socrates Apology and Allegory of the Caves and Voltaire Good Brahmin s
along with my own view on Philosophy.
The Apology is an account of the speech Socrates makes at the trial in which he is charged with...

I am one to questioning and dig deeper. I learn based on my experiences and not merely based
on what I have been told. I like explorations, I hate living in caves, I love seeing the light for
myself. True happiness for me is not an illusion, but rather facing the harsh realities of the world
that I live in. Finally I do concur with Socrates when he said the unexamined life is not worth living

The Necklace And The Rights To The Streets Of Memphis...
Have you ever noticed that your actions/choices affect how and where you end up in life? In the
stories, The Necklace and The rights to the Streets of Memphis the character s choices, and how
well they make them, depend on how the characters end up. While some may say the characters
were affected more by chance, the characters in The Necklace, and The Rights to the Streetsof
Memphis were ultimately affected by their actions because when Richardchose to man up and stand
up for himself in front of the boys he got his money back, Richard decided he did not want to
stay out in the streets until he fought those boys just like Madame Loisel decided she did not
want to live a poor lifestyle for any longer , and Madame Loisel s greed and desire for wealth
ironically caused her to live a poor lifestyle. In the story The Necklace, Madame Loisel and her
husband were poor and not wealthy. But Madame Loisel did not enjoy being poor and wanted to
live a rich and wealthy lifestyle. While her husband did not mind living the poor lifestyle they
lived and did not care if they were rich or not. In the story her husband got both of them an
invitation to a party and needed a nice outfit and jewels to wear but Madame Loisel had neither.
So they both decided to borrow some of Madame Forestier s jewels. They lost the necklace before
they could return it to Madame Forestier and decided to buy a real diamond necklace for 30,000
francs (which they could not afford) instead of confessing to

Research Paper On Kangaroos
No matter if it s humans or animals, everybody loves sex. The world is pretty aware of humans
when it comes to sex, but what about animals? There are some absolutely mind blowing facts about
animal sex, and they are sure to leave you speechless.
FIRST FACT: WHALES
Every single man and every single woman for that matter will be jealous of whales after this fact.
Did you know that a whale s penis can range anywhere from eight to ten feet? That is a little
bigger than your shoe size, that is for sure!
SECOND FACT: KANGAROOS
This next fact can be a little uncomfortable, to be completely honest. Kangaroos actually have more
than one vagina, and as a matter of fact, they have three. You know what this means, kangaroos can
be perpetually pregnant!

Even though I just graduated in 2016, I feel like I am so much older when I attend a high school

Citizenship Of Illegal Immigrants
The scorching sun shimmered against the immigrants sweat, as they passed the border between
the two connecting countries, the United States of America, and New Mexico. An half empty

on the other side of the border, their life will be different than the one they have left behind; will it
be wonder, or despair for these illegal immigrants? Illegal immigrationis an issue which has

According to the book, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it states, The millions of those
illegal immigrants currently residing in the United States are overwhelming law abiding, tax
paying, and hard working. By granting them citizenship, they can do much more (The Current
Controversies, 97). The undocumented immigrants have broken the law by entering the United
States without a document but, the reason is because they could not wait from months to years
for a reply of whether they can be a legal immigrant or not. When they work, they are
hardworking, and law abiding, with no problems occurring during their work. The lives of others
are not affected by their working, and when granted the path of citizenship, from their personality
of being law abiding. These undocumented immigrants created less trouble for our daily lives
because we are able to accomplish more jobs, produce more products, and develop more
improvement in the economy, that everyday lives would be as easy as pie. Furthermore, the
granting of citizenship benefits in decreasing the rate of crimes. Based on U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services, it states, The vast majority want to stay in America to work and so naturally
steer clear of breaking any laws. Therefore, less crimes will be in America (The Current
Controversies, 96). As more undocumented immigrants enter the country of the United States, they
seek for work as their new life begins. Some of these undocumented immigrants stay in front of
stores such as 7/11, waiting for someone to hire them for work. The enlargement in the population
of the undocumented immigrants does not cause trouble for the citizens, but rather put them in

Molarity = moles of solute / liters of solution
E = hОЅ = hc/О»
Elight = hОЅlight = hc/О»light = О”E = EUO EOO

We will be using various combinations of distilled water, hydrogen peroxide, malonic acid, ascorbic
acid (Vitamin C), acetic acid (Vinegar), starch solution, laundry detergent, iodine tincture,
manganese sulfate, and sulfamic acid to produce multiple pairs of solutions labeled Solution A and
Solution B. The goal is to either observe the process of fluorescence or the absence of fluorescence.
Fluorescence is the chemical property of generating light after undergoing the process of absorbing

Observations:
After swirling the resulting solution, its appearance kept cycling through the color yellow and
appearing colorless. However, there was constantly a small patch of blue residue caused by some
undissolved starch powder. There was some gas formation during this process. After 5 minutes, we
stopped swirling the beaker and let it sit in the fume hood. 15 to 20 minutes later, the solution
began to turn dark blue.
PART B:

Crystallization Synthesis
Before crystallization, the unknown weighed 0.83 g, it was white, soft, and had small ball clumps
almost producing a salt like appearance. About 70 mL of ethanol was used to purify the unknown.
Within the final stages of fully dissolving the ethanol with the unknown, the unknown started to
crystallize quickly, therefore, no ice bath was needed. After the unknown air dried, it was clear,
soft, flaky, and it looked like ice. In terms of purity of the solid, recrystallization worked because it
dissolved both the impurities and the compound within ethanol. The impurities were removed and
the pure solution was left behind after being filtered. In terms of yield, recrystallization worked

compound was most likely to be acenaphthene. Before the melting process, the unknown was
observed to be white, flaky, shiny, and soft. When it was mixed with other compounds, the
characteristics began to change. For instance, when the unknown was mixed with acenaphthene, the
solid was grainy and white. When it was mixed with benzil, the solution was green and glittery. Last
but not least, when the unknown was mixed with phenoxyacetic Acid, the solid was powdery and

Economics Elasticity Essay
Businesses know that they face demand curves, but rarely do they know what these curves look
like. Yet sometimes a business needs to have a good idea of what part of a demand curve looks like
if it is to make good decisions. If Rick s Pizza raises its prices by ten percent, what will happen to
its revenues? The answer depends on how consumers will respond. Will they cut back purchases a
little or a lot? This question of how responsive consumers are to price changes involves the
economic concept of elasticity.
Elasticity is a measure of responsiveness. Two words are important here. The word measure means
that elasticity results are reported as numbers, or elasticity coefficients. The word responsiveness
means that there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it is greater than one, economists say that demand is elastic.
Products which have few good substitutes generally have a lower elasticity of demand than
products with many substitutes. As a result, more broadly defined products have a lower elasticity
than narrowly defined products. The price elasticity of demand for meat will be lower than the
price elasticity of pork, and the price elasticity for soft drinks will be less elastic than the price
elasticity for colas, which in turn will be less elastic than the price elasticity for
Pepsi.
Time plays an important role in determining both consumer and producer responsiveness for
many items. The longer people have to make adjustments, the more adjustments they will make.
When the price of gasoline rose rapidly in the late 1970s as a result of the OPEC cartel, the only
adjustment consumers could initially make was to drive less. With time they could also move
closer to work or find jobs closer to home, and switch to more fuel efficient cars.
The concept of elasticity can help explain some situations that at first glance may seem puzzling.
If American farmers all have excellent harvests, they may have a very poor year financially. They
may be better off if they all have mediocre harvests. If a bus company decides it needs more
revenue and tries to get it by raising fares, its revenues may decrease rather than increase.

journey towards knowing and understanding himself. Viajero also tackled the history of the
Philippines and the behavior of Filipinos before the arrival of the Spaniards. The lead character
of Viajero was an orphan named Salvador Badong dela Raza (a Spanish phrase meaning Saviour
of the Race ). He became an orphan when his parent had died from the war. He was found by a
native called Apo Tale and was brought to his house, where his deaf mute daughter, Mayang, was

Said discusses three main ideas in the decolonizing cultural resistance: (1) the concept of national
language; (2) resistance as an alternative way of conceiving human history; and (3) a noticeable pull
away from separatist nationalism toward a more integrative view of human community and human
liberation (pp. 215 216). Roxas Tope (1998) wrote that the proponents of nationalism in the
Philippines during the 1960s thought that it was necessary to require the writing of Philippine
history by a Filipino and from the point of view of the Filipino, but when these works were
published they became textbooks, the repository of historical truths and canonical interpretations of
the past (p. 24); an act that can be considered as walking the fine line of the concept of Grand
Narrative that both postcolonial and postmodern schools of thought question. In the same line,
Zialcita (2005) questioned the overly nationalistic approach to the (re)writing of history because it
highlights only the Spanish state as the enemy of democrats and nationalists by the late nineteenth
century and leaves out the Spanish state that brought in symbols, values, and an organization whose
unforeseen consequence was an expanded sense of community where notions of democracy and
nationalism germinated (p. 65). Zialcita also observed this need to frame the definition of Filipino

Sodium Chloride Lab
Sodium Chloride is added to the ice to lower the melting point of the ice, which is called ionic
dissociation. The sodium chloride is added to the ice in the larger bag in order to keep the
dissolving ice from becoming room temperature. Sodium chloride keeps the ice/ slush at a low
temperature that allows the ice/slush to start chilling the cream and milk which is located in the
smaller bag. The freezing point drops to about 10 degrees Celsius. This allowed the ice/ slush to
remain cold at a low temperature. The sodium chloride prevents hydrogen bonds and keeps the
water molecules solid. This is called freezing point depression. This is one of the colligative
properties of science. Without the temperature dropping, the ice/ slush would not remain cold and
crystals would not be able to form in the smaller bag. The crystals create the ice cream s texture.
The solution with the sodium chloride interferes with the production of crystals. The heat... Show

The salt, when put in the bag, sped up the speed of the reaction occurring. I felt the bag become

The Real Tragic Hero Of Antigone
The Real Tragic Hero of Antigone
In Antigone by Sophocles, there are two main characters which are Creon and Antigone. Between
the two there is only one of them that qualifies to be a tragic hero that has the five elements. The
tragic hero of the play is Creon, he has noble stature, tragic flaws, free choice, excessive punishment
and then increased awareness. Creon becomes king of Thebes after the death of Eteocles and
Polyneices. His decisions affect the entire town, and due to his excessive pride it will. It will
cause problems from the people, him and his family. Creon does not realize his wrong until it is
too late.
Noble stature is one of the elements that a tragic hero must have, and Creon surely has it. This
affect s society because whatever he decides will go, and under no circumstances is he changing
his mind. First Creon says, He s to have no funeral or lament, but to be left unburied and unwept,
a sweet treasure for the birds to look at, for them to feed on to their heart s content. That s what
people say the nobile Creon has announced to you and me I mean to me and***. For Creon this
matter s really serious. Anyone who acts against the order will be stoned to death before the city
(Prologue: 34 43). He forbids the burial of Polyneices to everyone. This decision is the starting
point of all his problems. Since he is the king, whatever he says, everyone has to follow. He does
what he thinks is best which is his decisions, and not listening to anyone else.

The Deception of Predestination
Fate, being always truly unknown and seemingly static, is not something that one should tamper
with. It leads all decisions and outcomes, if one so chooses to believe in the concept of
predestination. In Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, three witches decisively go against their
orders and toy with the lives of thousands of people by telling riddles of the future and it s
biddings. Evidently, all those who were given a glance into their future by the meddling trio soon
let sanity slip through their fingers and fell into their eventual demise. Banquo, who being told of
his kins fortune and fames soon to come, grows weary of his friend and is soon killed out of fear.

Macbeth was, at first, a wise and well adjusted Thane of Glamis but after his encounter with the
WeГЇrd Sisters his nobility began to quickly falter. His wits last him until the insight that he will
become the Thane of Cawdor proved the witches true. He follows his wife s footsteps and joins
in on the apparent necessity of assassinating all those who may stand in his way. Unlike his wife,
Macbeth s mind takes an early toll as he begins to hallucinate images that guide him in these
tasks and wrought his mind with maliciousness and emotional pain. It is clear to see that his
faith in the fortunes is what is wrenching his mind into such dark places. If not for being told of
his greater becomings, Macbeth would have been satisfied with the life he led, as he was
honored by his granted title to Thane of Cawdor. Only after meeting Macduff, who by word of the
witches is the one who will kill him, does he realize that he may very well have been tricked:
MACBETH. AccursГЁd be that tongue that tells me so,
For it hath cowed my better part of man!
And be these juggling fiends no more believed
That palter us in a double sense,
That keep the word of promise to our ear

Hades: God of the Underworld Who s Hades? Hades is the son of Kronos and Rhea. Hades is the
god of the underworld or the dead. He was also named Pluton (the giver of wealth) by the people
who preferred calling him that instead of Hades. He received his ruling of the underworld when
they, Zeus and his siblings, locked their father in Tartarus. He was always different than the other
gods, since he preferred the company of spirits. He abducted the daughter of Zeus, Persephone, and
made her eat in the underworld so that she would stay with him. Hades was often seen as a black

was accompanied in the underworld by his wife, Persephone, his guardian dog, Cerberus, and
Hecate, the overseer of the dead. Cerberus was a giant dog with three heads, a serpent tail, a
mane of snakes, and a lion s claw. It guarded the entrance of the underworld and was supposed to
be able to keep all the dead inside. He was captured by Hercules during one of the labors appointed
to him by Eurystheus.
As a twelfth labour Herakles was to fetch Kerberos (Cerberus) from Haides realm. Kerberos had
three dog heads, a serpent for a tail, and along his back the heads of all kinds of snakes. (Pseudo

John Locke And Rene Descartes
Philosophers are individuals who address critical analysis of fundamental assumptions or beliefs
with underlying theories of their own. John Locke and Rene Descartes were both classified as
modern philosophers in the seventeenth century who sums up the subject about personal identity
and its determents in reference to our own existence, such as who are we? The personal identity
theory states that the philosophical confrontation with the ultimate questions of our own existence,
such as who are we, and is there life after death? This investigation of personal identity specifies
adequate circumstances for the identity of the person over the period of time. In this assignment,
these two philosophers will be introduced thoroughly with a summary about each of them, their
similarities and differences, and personal views on which state that I would prefer.
John Locke (August 29, 1632 October 28, 1704) theory is that personal identity is a matter of
psychological continuity. He wrote an Essay Concerning Human Understanding which he signifies
in section 9 of personal identity and in section 10 of consciousness makes personal identity that
personal identity is a matter of being in the conscious state. He implied that if you remove
something from the body, such a finger or a leg. Even though it s not physically attached to the
body anymore, that doesn t change the personal identity of that person because that individual is
still himself. For example, let s look at the simplest parts of

The History of Special Education in the Twentith Century
During the twentieth century, drastic changes were made to vastly improve the special education
system to ensure that all students, regardless of their ability, were given equal rights according to
the Constitution of the United States. During early colonial America, schooling was not mandatory
and it was primarily given to the wealthy Anglo Saxon children (Carlson, p230). Children were
mainly taught in the home or in a single room schoolhouse. Therefore, children of limited mental
capability were not likely to be schooled. Also, in a non graded schoolhouse, children of differing
abilities did not pose problems. With the beginning of mandatory education in 1852 ... Show more

In these special classrooms, a specially trained teacher would provide the instruction. As ideal as
this might sound, it is hardly what did occur. The optimism of the educators to successfully teach
the disabled students faded during the 1930 s and the 1940 s. Special education classes were held
under horrible conditions. The rooms were insufficient, with limited resources, the teachers were
poorly trained and the curriculum was inadequate. Schools also often classified students as having
disabilities when they did not. Additionally, students were often labeled with one type disability
when they had another. This practice (misclassification) (Turnbull et al p16) was a common
discrimination in American schools. One might wonder why the conditions were so deplorable.
Why were the teachers so terribly unqualified? It appears that the common perception of the
disabled students was like that of Quasimodo, in Victor Hugo s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
They were misunderstood, and considered to be monstrous something to be hidden away,
shunned and rejected by normal people. The public s attitude with disabled children was one of
fear, as if the disability was somehow contagious. They were looked upon as crazy people. This
general outlook set the standard for educating students with special needs. They were classified as
inferior, so why should the school system bother to work with the retards ? The mind set was that

Five Stages Of Grief In Catcher In The Rye
Times with little hope in our lives can throw us into a range of emotion. One of the most famous
novels, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger portrays one of life s most important range of
emotion that human beings can feel, the five stages of grief. The main character within this classic
novel, Holden Caulfield, is trapped within these five stages of grief after his brother, Allie, dies of
leukemia. Holden is then stuck in the five stages of grief after not being able to obtain closure.
Holden s process of going through the five stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression,
and acceptance) play a major part in the character of Holden and the novel itself, making the
Character vs. Self the main plotline.

Allie was alive rather than continuing on without Allie. Holden s bargaining begins as regrets to
include Allie were he denied Allie s wishes, Allie heard us talking about it, and he wanted to go,
and I wouldn t let him... So once in a while now, when I get very depressed, I keep saying to him,
Okay . Go home and get your bike and meet me in front of Bobby s house (Salinger 99). Holden
wishes to reverse his actions and allow Allie to go with him rather for Holden did not know that
Allie would die. Later on, Holden becomes reminiscent of a museum and the scenes behind the
glass within the exhibits. He soon becomes envisty of the scenes behind the glass for the fact
they never change, Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to
stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone (Salinger 122). The reason
behind why Holden is envious of the museum is he wishes that Allie and he could be placed
behind the glass, never being able to die, The best thing, though, in that museum was that
everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody d move...Nobody d be different (Salinger
121). After realizing his bargaining is useless, Holden only wishes to escape his internal
conflict, making Holden s final bargaining chip was professing a fictional world in an attempt to
escape all of the real world and his plotline, What we could do is, tomorrow morning we could
drive up to Massachusetts...It s beautiful as hell up there. There wouldn t be a marvelous places
to go to after...You don t see what I mean at all (Salinger 132 133). This is Holden s last attempt
failing miserably makes Holden realize how foolish he truly was and opens his eyes that what he
is wishing for is in fact impossible, I don t even know why I started that stuff with her...I probably

Theme Of Narration In Sons And Lovers
Narration and point of view play a large role in the acceptance of a story. When the author writes
the novel in first person, it gives the reader an immediate connection to the protagonist. A third
person narration is more believable. The reader is being told a story without any personal bias from
the characters. With first personnarration, the character breaks down the scenes and the reader gets
a direct sense of the events. Third person narration allows the reader to get to know multiple
characters. Point of view when used with third person narration has a powerful effect. It helps to
reader to understand background on different characters and to have knowledge of events that may
not be the main focus of the story.

It bounces most between Mrs. Morel and her son Paul. The narration was third person because
there was death amongst the characters. If it was first person we would lose some aspects of the
story as well as only have access to one characters opinion. Sons and Lovers was set in
Noddingham, England during the late 1800s.
The events of this story lead to the demise of its characters. Mr. Morel s alcoholism gets between
him and his wife early on in their relationship. Walter Morel cannot stand his wife accusing him of
being a drunk. One night he felt that she has crossed the line. They were arguing until he physically
threw her out of the house. Gertrude is pregnant but this does not faze Walter. His children do not
matter to him and neither does his wife.
As the story progresses, Gertrude hates Walter more and more. She turns away from her husband
and infatuates herself with her children. She once admired her husband but this admiration turns
to loathing and disgust. A little while down the line, Walter comes home drunk again. Gertrude
had given birth to the baby at this point. He drops a kitchen drawer against his shin. In a drunken
rage, he throws the drawer across the kitchen where it hits Gertrude in the head. She starts
bleeding and this sobers Walter up a little. She refuses his help and tells him to get away from her.

Investigation of in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity of different plant acetonic extracts against
fungal skin isolates
ABSTRACT
T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy,
warranting the search for other alternatives. This study investigated the efficacy of using plant
extracts; Lawsonia inermis L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L
(Rosemary) as antifungal agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly
active against tested clinical isolates. In vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts
against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study,
topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the
higher percentage of (GC MS) of 3 O Methyl d glucose 29.1 %, most probably are the causes of its
higher antifungal activity.

visible lesions are often unconscious targets of social stigma of rejection isolation because of their
unslightly appearance. The cost of long term diagnosis and treatment can be over bearing for low

Dbq Articles Of Confederation During The Years 1781 To 1789
During the years 1781 to 1789, the Articles of Confederation was the bases of the current
government. This confederation was set up to create a weak government, leaving main power in
the state legislatures. The people of the new United States did not foresee having a strong central
government in fear of a monarchy such as that of Great Britain s. To a significant extent, the
government under these articles were ineffective due to the lack of power in Congress and control
of foreign relations.
A contribution to the downfall of the Articles of Confederationis the insufficiency of it. In 1782,
the Confederation Congress proposed a uniform tariff, which was rejected by the Rhode Island
Assembly. (Doc A) Even though only one state rejected the proposal, in order to amend the articles,
unanimous approval had to occur. Unanimous decisions was one of the Articles of... Show more

Under the Articles of Confederation, the U.S. population was growing while the exports to Great
Britain were stagnant. (Doc B) Since the United States could not come up with a trade treaty,
Great Britain was restricting trade. This occurred because the congress did not hold power in
regulating commerce. Furthermore, Great Britain did not respect the territories. As John Jay
expressed to the U.S. Minister to inform Great Britain, restrictions on trade were to be loosened
and borders respected. (Doc D) A major impact in trade was the restriction from the West Indies.
During this time, the Navigation Laws were still in effect, allowing them to restrain the trading
business. The presence that Great Britain had in America was to keep the expansion of the new
nation in check. Territorial disputes continued into the domain of Spain. As a result of Spain s
presence on the frontier, the Mississippi River was restricted. (Doc F) Without the Mississippi

Optical Fiber Sensors Essay
Optical fiber sensors are very important devices to detect and monitor ionizing radiation in nuclear
based technologies such as industrial radiography, nuclear medicine, spacecraft and satellite
instrumentation, and also in nuclear power facilities. Reliability of other conventional radiation
detectors in space and terrestrial application is much affected by electromagnetic interference and
exposure to fire and explosion potential hazards. However the functionality of optical fiberat

2013). There is a need to replace 3H based sensor to detect neutron in context of nuclear
nonproliferation(Runkle 2011) and silica optical fiber with better resistant to radiation damage
(Xue et al. 2012) is the other very close a safe cheaper possible neutron sensor to be considered. In
addition, its other characteristic of having low attenuation losses provides a wide bandwidth for
long distance wireless communication so that the exposure of radiation to workers can be avoided
during radiation detection and monitoring operation.
Ionizing radiation such as x ray, gamma, alpha, beta and neutron radiations, are not only harmful
to human health(Azzam et al. 2012) and environment(Mothersill Seymour 2014), but also can
damage the electronic devices(Wang et al. 2014). The source of these ionizing radiations are from
radioactive materials, x ray tubes, particle accelerators such as ion beams, nuclear weapons and
reactors, cosmic rays from space and from natural rocks and minerals. Exposure of extremely high
energy electromagnetic radiation such as x ray can lead to failure in silicon sensors(Klanner et al.
2013). The increasing radiation induced attenuation can lead to permanent damage of optical
fiber(Kovačević et al. 2013). So there is a need to develop better sensors with good radiation
resistance such as Ge doped optical fiber sensors in radiant environment.
SiO2 and plastic type optical fiber are two types of material used in any research and development

there are two scenarios where graffiti played a crucial part. Once was when Bay and Emmett got

thing about elementary schoolis that you have very little responsibilities and you don t have to
worry about college. I attended Fairview Elementary School from grades K 5. I remember each
year like it was yesterday. For example, I remembered the way I looked, the friends I made, the
events that occurred, and the problems I had.
All throughout my years of elementary school, many people would pick on me and boast about
their appearance in comparison to me. For example, I was the smallest kid in my class.
Everyone would always be taller than me and make me reach for a pencil as they held it up high.
In addition, I also had a big head which also gave kids another opportunity to make fun of me.
Finally, many kids started to get braces. I had very crooked teeth and a gap in my tooth.

The Future Prospects Of Norway
In order to discuss the future prospects of Norway for the coming years, it is interesting and useful
to review the performance of the country in the past to identify possible trends.
At the end of 2013, Norway was calculated as having the second highest GDP in the world (only
under Luxembourg), as it was 65,515 US dollars per capita. The following graph (Chart 1 see
appendix) shows the growth in Norway s GDP from 1970. Here, we can see the effect of the
recession in 2008, and how it reflected on the downfall of the GDP s value. Only until 2010 is
where we see the value become even with the pre crisis number. Yet, according to Figure 1
(below), the index shows that it has not yet reached the value that it would have, following the
trend prior to 2008.
Figure 1. Norway s Gross Domestic Product. The graphic shows the growth of GDP for Norway
in red, Luxemburg in black and the rest of the OECD countries in grey.
Source: OECD, 2014
Apart from GDP, there are also other indicators that can give us an impression of the economic
performance of Norway in the past years. For instance, in 2013 the long term unemployment rate
was 9.3% and the overall trend suggests it may continue to go down (Appendix 1, Chart 1). This
refers to those in unemployment that are aged 15 and over, were without work during the
reference week, yet were available for and actively seeking for work during the previous four weeks.
Moreover, the inflation and long term interest rates

Egg Came Before Chicken Research Paper
What came first the chicken or the egg? This has been a debated question for some time now.
Some say the chicken came first, some say the egg came first, and others have no idea. In our
opinion, the egg came before the chicken no matter how you look at it. Rather, you are
religious, or you believe in science, the egg came before the chicken. In this research paper Mike
and I will be explaining how we think the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of
view and a scientific point of view. First, we will be explaining how the egg came before the
chicken from a religious point of view. Genesis 1:24 said And God said, Let the earth bring forth
the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:
and it was so. This bible quote says how God created land animals, but it does not say they

gave birth to a chicken egg which hatched a chicken. I know that genetic mutation is possible, so
this is how I believe the chicken was born. Over time, due to genetic mutation a chicken was
hatched from a chicken egg. My explanation is biblical as well as scientific. I inputted
information from both point of views in my explanation because, I am a spiritual guy and I also

Investing in education is the most effective way to reduce poverty
In many ways this is a difficult statement to assess. There is no doubt that education is a key
initiative in the reduction of poverty. Whether it is the most effective is harder to say for sure. We
can easily confirm correlation in the relationship between reduced poverty and increases in factors
such as education and health. However it is no simple task to measure and compare the level of
impact a component such as education has on poverty. There are many factors and variables that
influence the poverty of a country and many of these factors influence one another, strengthening or
weakening their individual effects and implications. However after researching the topic I ... Show

The investigation, which randomized more than 75 schools, shows that the de worming lowered
absenteeism from school by one quarter in the treatment group and also improved health and school
participation in students who were not included in the program (Miguel amp; Kremer, 2004).
In 2005 at the UN s World Summit, the international community pledged half the number of people
living in extreme poverty by 2015 outlining the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These are
a series of eight dead lined targets, most of which aim to eradicate the root causes of poverty
worldwide. These goals highlight the main forms in which poverty appears hunger, education,
inequality and various health related problems. These are therefore the main areas that investment
is made to reduce poverty (UNFPA, 2005). The eight MDG s are: eradicating extreme poverty and
hunger, Achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering
women, reducing child mortality rates, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria,
and other diseases, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing a global partnership for
development.
Looking at these MDG s, which area of investment would be most effective in reducing poverty?
You can see from the above goals that health is a dominant issue, as many of the goals can be
attributed to health deficiency problems. It is also true that hunger is maybe the most important
and fundamental form of poverty

If the result is a major change to the work, then a new baseline may be agreed against which future
performance is then tracked. Over Expenditure. Should over expenditure threaten during the
implementation of the project the following measures may help restore the situation: Renegotiate
budget, work scope and specifications. Sell off excess inventory for cash injection. Eliminate
rework, wastage, theft, spoilage and scope creep. Optimise schedule/budget since an ambitious
schedule is usually expensive. Shun perfection and extra checks, and settle for good enough .
Ensure all charges are accurate, legitimate and properly authorised. Schedule Slippage. Should
unacceptable schedule slippage occur during project implementation, the following measures may
help keep the project on track: Renegotiate finish date, work scope, and/or performance standards.
Apply the minimum float rule whereby we first accelerate critical tasks. Redeploy resources to
focus effort on critical and near critical tasks. Undertake more work concurrently (fast tracking).
Work overtime and/or contract out work. Risk Management. Risk Management must be a
continuous activity throughout our project in order to prevent risks becoming issues. Thus, risks
will be a topic at every meeting during project implementation.

Three Religious Paintings
In this project I will compare the setting of three religious paintings. One set involves the interior
of fifteenth century architect, another located in a natural landscape, and one with a heavenly
backdrop. This expository paper will reveal how these different locations affect a viewer s
spiritual experience, and decipher whether or not these environments are generic, symbolic, or
specific. The artwork titled Painting of Ghent Altarpiece in Chapel, located in Rijksmuseum,
Amsterdam, was created by Jan van Eyck (Davies et al. 482). The scale and setting of this
painting is unmistakably impressive. The purpose of the altarpiece is to clarify the ceremony
performed before it (482). Jan work is big in scale and thorough with detail and color that glows
(482). This environment is a generic place, although it is a holy place, it is also very common as
chapels can be found in virtually every church. The fifteenth century landscape calendar page
Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry was created by the Limbourg Brothers in France (Davies et
al. 474). In this panel, the month of July is illustrated, as is the passage of time in many ways
(474). The dome shape at the top of the seasonal training marks the days of the week numerally
along with the astrological signs for the month (474). Below the... Show more content on

It shows heaven on earth on the first and second panel. Different scholars have studied The
Garden of Earthly Delights and its various aspects in attempt to determine its meaning (491).
Although none can come to a concrete conclusion, this oil painting is more symbolic, as it is
said to have numerous visual references to verbal puns and proverbs (493). Also the date of
creation for The Garden of Earthly Delights is up for debate because Bosch never dated his pieces

Women In The Cuban Revolution
When developing this proposal I wanted to look at the everyday life and struggles of women
during and after the Cuban Revolution. Looking at a lot of the sources available from the Cuban
Revolution it is clear to see that women played a crucial role in the revolution. But most of the
secondary sources that I have found surround three specific women, HaydГ©e SantamarГa, Celia
Sanchez and Vilma EspГn. These revolutionaries played a crucial role in shaping the outcome of
the Cuban Revolutionwhile also advancing feminism and gender equality. By looking specifically
at these women I developed the central question: how HaydГ©e SantamarГa, Celia Sanchez and
Vilma Espin, able to shape the future of women s lives in Cuba? Some other questions that helped...

I found these sources through the KU libraries. I used the search terms HaydГ©e SantamarГa,
feminism and Cuban Revolution. All of these books look at the strength and leadership of women
during the Cuban Revolution. These sources discuss how women were able to move from second
class citizens to having a real role in government. These are great tools in navigating the
experience of the average Cuban women while also looking at these figures of the revolution.
Margaret Randall s book does a great job of looking at the Revolution through an inspirational and
powerful leader. HadyГ©e SantamarГa was a member of the resistance and was good friends with
Fidel Castro. She endured the deaths of her family so that Cuba could have a future away from
the Batista regime. Her existence is an example of the accessibility and mobility given to
women to activate change. But does her role in the resistance represent the average Cuban
woman? Michelle Chase s book claims that there was a revolution in the larger revolution that
advocated for a shift in gender roles on an everyday level. Her book really focuses on the heart
of what I want my paper to be about. I want it to focus on the ability for the revolution to help
give people a larger voice and the women who made that possible. I will need to find more first
hand experiences and newspaper articles that will help me with understanding the average woman
and not just the educated activists. In HadyГ©e SantamarГa s,

Analysis Of The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part-Time Indian
Al Pacino once said, Be careful how you judge people, You don t sum up a man s life in one
moment. In the novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian ,Sherman Alexie
explains the hard life of Arnold Spirit that is filled with many problems, death, and bullying.
Arnold Spirit was born with many medical problems and was picked on for most of his life. But,
this did not keep him from receiving a good education and doing something incredible with his
life. So, Arnold Spirit left the rez to attend Reardon, an all white school, where he was an outcast
at first, but made many new friends by the end of Freshman year. Arnold Spirit was known for
betraying his tribe and leaving the rez, but despite this he discovered many new strengths and
continued to carry on with his life towards success. Throughout the novel, The Absolutely True
Diary of a Part Time Indian, Sherman Alexie discusses about the issues or struggles that Arnold
Spirit faced which include bullying, stereotypes, and being different.
Arnold s biggest struggle at school is bullying. Arnold says, Yep those bastards were making fun
of my brain disorder. I fell down. One of the brothers picked me up, dusted me off, and kneed me
in the balls. The Andruss brothers laughed and walked away (Alexie 21). Arnold had been pushed
around and bullied for his medical problems his whole life, and one of the main reasons of
bullying is because of his appearance. While writing in his diary, Arnold explains, Everybody on the

Einstein s Theory of Special Relativity and Rutherford s discovery of the atomic nucleus all helped the United States to invent the bomb. The Manhattan Project so called because the initial headquarters were on the Manhattan district of New York City began in 1942 with the sole purpose of creating an atomic bomb before Nazi Germany. • 3. Power Informity In Amy Tan s The Rules Of The Game In a familial hierarchy, it is transparent who is dominant and who is subordinate. The parents are at the top, while the children are at the bottom. Parents make the rules, while the children follow them. In the story The Rules of the Game , the author Amy Tan uses this model of familial hierarchy to demonstrate the power dynamic between the mother and the daughter. The main protagonist, Waverly Place Jong, is the youngest out of her two brothers and is the only daughter in the Jong household. Her mother uses Chinese torture on Waverly to enforce and regulate her power has the dominant. Throughout the story, the relationship between them is strained, as both compete to be in control. Through the analysis of metaphor, symbolism, and tone in The Rules of the Game, Amy Tan uses the power struggle between mother and daughter to demonstrate the existence of conformity in a familial hierarchy, which plays a crucial role to one s pursuit role to gain independence. The story starts off by revealing a valuable advice Waverly s mother gives her when she was young. I was six when my mother taught me the art of invisible strength. It was a strategy for winning arguments, respect from others, and eventually, though neither of us knew it at the time, chess games (Tan, 497). This advice played a pivotal role during Waverly s early life when she played chess and competed in tournaments. Invisible strength symbolizes the self resilience to overcome an obstacle. • 4. Anti Vivisection Research Papers In the early 18th centuries, a popular idea was launched with the hopes of finding significant scientific animal research. The idea was known as a vivisection, which is defined as the practice of performing operations on live animals for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research . By the next century, the idea had taken off and the term vivisection was used specifically for people that were completely opposed to the idea of using live animals for cruel and inhumane experiments, researches, and projects. Now in the 21st century, many anti vivisection society s exist; including American Anti Vivisection Society and the National Anti Vivisection Society, that were both based off the grounds of ending harmful, cruel, and costly scientific experiments on animals. Our standards now say that vivisections are extremely cruel and inhumane to animals. In fact, now we have societies like American Anti Vivisection Society and the National Anti Vivisection Society, that have to publicly announce that the experiments that are being performed on live animals are unacceptable, and would never be allowed to be done to human; even in the name of science with a whole expectation of helping other suffering humans. Vivisections are the practice of performing operations on live animals for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research , but in reality very little new scientific research is being added to the knowledge we already hold. Whether liberal democracy or an authoritarian regime, the police is responsible for internal security, law enforcement and channeling the claims of justice. The police, not the members or mayors, are usually the first public officials to whom people look to when security problems occur. These changes mean that the protection of democratic values and respect for a person are not strictly an internal issue, but it becomes a foundational value protected by the internal community. In that sense, the boundaries between internal and external have faded, creating a state of sovereignty. It concludes that the issue of public safety, with an idea that is preferably applied within sovereignty of a state extended to the concepts of not only regional but global security and within them the idea that there are international crimes and crimes against humanity that threaten the security of states and their citizens. Audacious Euphony Reflection The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read Richard Cohn s Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much information about voice leading can be facilitated by just summing up the pitch class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which extends the discussion from diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of the similar voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I am not sure about the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in terms of its musical value. I am also not sure about the use of the pitch class clockfaces and the current representation of pitch center of balance, and I wonder if there is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary voice leading very useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical properties. However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only link to one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I wonder how we can find out such pivotal set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about the cases when we are dealing with odd sum classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords (like p. 21) while that of an even sum class only contains one row of 6 trichords that is the also axis of symmetry. Other than figuring out the pitch center of balance through the clockface or arithmetical means, would there be some kind of geometrical significance? There are a lot of interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to see more in depth relationship between the pitches and the patterns I am looking ... The disorders can be contributed by psychological factors such as stress and anxiety because the illness tends to not have a detectable biological cause. In the stories, The Necklace and The rights to the Streets of Memphis the character s choices, and how well they make them, depend on how the characters end up. While some may say the characters were affected more by chance, the characters in The Necklace, and The Rights to the Streetsof Memphis were ultimately affected by their actions because when Richardchose to man up and stand up for himself in front of the boys he got his money back, Richard decided he did not want to stay out in the streets until he fought those boys just like Madame Loisel decided she did not want to live a poor lifestyle for any longer , and Madame Loisel s greed and desire for wealth ironically caused her to live a poor lifestyle. Yet sometimes a business needs to have a good idea of what part of a demand curve looks like if it is to make good decisions. If Rick s Pizza raises its prices by ten percent, what will happen to its revenues? The answer depends on how consumers will respond. Will they cut back purchases a little or a lot? This question of how responsive consumers are to price changes involves the economic concept of elasticity. Elasticity is a measure of responsiveness. Two words are important here. The word measure means that elasticity results are reported as numbers, or elasticity coefficients. The word responsiveness means that there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it is greater than one, economists say that demand is elastic. Products which have few good substitutes generally have a lower elasticity of demand than products with many substitutes. As a result, more broadly defined products have a lower elasticity than narrowly defined products. The price elasticity of demand for meat will be lower than the price elasticity of pork, and the price elasticity for soft drinks will be less elastic than the price elasticity for colas, which in turn will be less elastic than the price elasticity for Pepsi. Time plays an important role in determining both consumer and producer responsiveness for many items. The longer people have to make adjustments, the more adjustments they will make. When the price of gasoline rose rapidly in the late 1970s as a result of the OPEC cartel, the only adjustment consumers could initially make was to drive less. With time they could also move closer to work or find jobs closer to home, and switch to more fuel efficient cars. The concept of elasticity can help explain some situations that at first glance may seem puzzling. If American farmers all have excellent harvests, they may have a very poor year financially. They may be better off if they all have mediocre harvests. If a bus company decides it needs more revenue and tries to get it by raising fares, its revenues may decrease rather than increase. In the same line, Zialcita (2005) questioned the overly nationalistic approach to the (re)writing of history because it highlights only the Spanish state as the enemy of democrats and nationalists by the late nineteenth century and leaves out the Spanish state that brought in symbols, values, and an organization whose unforeseen consequence was an expanded sense of community where notions of democracy and nationalism germinated (p. 65). The optimism of the educators to successfully teach the disabled students faded during the 1930 s and the 1940 s. Special education classes were held under horrible conditions. The rooms were insufficient, with limited resources, the teachers were poorly trained and the curriculum was inadequate. Schools also often classified students as having disabilities when they did not. Additionally, students were often labeled with one type disability when they had another. This practice (misclassification) (Turnbull et al p16) was a common discrimination in American schools. One might wonder why the conditions were so deplorable. Why were the teachers so terribly unqualified? It appears that the common perception of the disabled students was like that of Quasimodo, in Victor Hugo s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They were misunderstood, and considered to be monstrous something to be hidden away, shunned and rejected by normal people. The public s attitude with disabled children was one of fear, as if the disability was somehow contagious. They were looked upon as crazy people. This general outlook set the standard for educating students with special needs. They were classified as inferior, so why should the school system bother to work with the retards ? • 24. Five Stages Of Grief In Catcher In The Rye Times with little hope in our lives can throw us into a range of emotion. One of the most famous novels, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger portrays one of life s most important range of emotion that human beings can feel, the five stages of grief. The main character within this classic novel, Holden Caulfield, is trapped within these five stages of grief after his brother, Allie, dies of leukemia. Holden is then stuck in the five stages of grief after not being able to obtain closure. So once in a while now, when I get very depressed, I keep saying to him, Okay . Go home and get your bike and meet me in front of Bobby s house (Salinger 99). Holden wishes to reverse his actions and allow Allie to go with him rather for Holden did not know that Allie would die. Later on, Holden becomes reminiscent of a museum and the scenes behind the glass within the exhibits. He soon becomes envisty of the scenes behind the glass for the fact they never change, Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone (Salinger 122). The reason behind why Holden is envious of the museum is he wishes that Allie and he could be placed behind the glass, never being able to die, The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody d move...Nobody d be different (Salinger 121). After realizing his bargaining is useless, Holden only wishes to escape his internal conflict, making Holden s final bargaining chip was professing a fictional world in an attempt to escape all of the real world and his plotline, What we could do is, tomorrow morning we could drive up to Massachusetts...It s beautiful as hell up there. There wouldn t be a marvelous places to go to after...You don t see what I mean at all (Salinger 132 133). At the end of 2013, Norway was calculated as having the second highest GDP in the world (only under Luxembourg), as it was 65,515 US dollars per capita. The following graph (Chart 1 see appendix) shows the growth in Norway s GDP from 1970. Here, we can see the effect of the recession in 2008, and how it reflected on the downfall of the GDP s value.
