2. Lean Burn Combustion
Lean burn refers to the use of lean mixtures in an internal combustion engine. The air fuel ratios
can be as high as 65:1, so the mixture has considerably less fuel in comparison to the
stoichiometric combustion ratio (14.7:1 for petrol for example). Contents[hide] * 1 Principle * 2

Heavy duty lean burn gas engines admit as much as 75% more air than theoretically needed for
complete combustion into the combustion chambers. The extremely weak air fuel mixtures lead to
lower combustion temperatures and therefore lower NOx formation. While lean burn gas engines
offer higher theoretical thermal efficiencies, transient response and performance may be
compromised in certain situations. Lean burn gas engines are almost always turbocharged, resulting
high power and torque figures not achieveable with stoichiometric engines due to high combustion
temperatures.
Heavy duty gas engines may employ precombustion chambers in the cylinder head. A lean gas and
air mixture is first highly compressed in the main chamber by the piston. A much richer, though
much lesser volume gas/air mixture is introduced to the precombustion chamber and ignited by
spark plug. The flame front spreads to the lean gas air mixture in the cylinder.
This two stage lean burn combustion produces low NOx and no particulate emissions. Thermal
efficiency is better as higher compression ratios are achieved.
Manufacturers of heavy duty lean burn gas engines include GE Jenbacher, MAN Diesel amp;
Turbo, Wärtsilä, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Rolls Royce plc.

3. Louis Armstrong s Life, His Music And Influence On Others
The person I chose to do my project on is Louis Armstrong. I chose Louis Armstrong because I
wanted to do my project on a singer as well as a musician. I chose him because he was one of the
few people that I knew about, also because I did some research on him and listened to his music and
I thought that he was interesting to write about. My main three things that I m going to discuss
about Louis Armstrongwill be his life, his music and influence on others. I m going to describe
how and where Louis Armstrong s grew up and how he started out his career as a trumpeter. I m
also going to write about how he went through life and how that affected him in the future. Lastly,
I m going to discuss with you how he had an influence on others. I m going to explain how he
impacted the world with his music and how that affected so many people to this day. Louis
Armstrong made a great impact in the world and I m going to teach you all about it.
According to biography.com, Louis Armstrong was born on August 4, 1901 in New Orleans,
Louisiana. He was born into a poor section of New Orleans, which was nicknamed The Battlefield.
Louis Armstrong had a tough childhood when he was growing up, his father was a factory worker
that had left Louis Armstrong s family after he was soon to be born. Louis Armstrong s mom was a
prostitute and she often left him at his maternal grandmother s house. Armstrong had to quit school
in the fifth grade because he needed to begin work to support himself. A

4. America s First Black President Essay
For many years, American Presidents were viewed as being white and powerful leaders. Why
were they only white? Is it because Americans felt Blacks were not smart enough to run a country
on their own? African Americans were viewed as less dominate people and have been
discriminated because of the color of their skin. In 2008, Barack Obamawas elected President of the
United Statesmaking him the first black president ever. In this paper, I will discuss how Barack
makes a change and if America can accept him as our first black president. Barack Hussein

black African born in Kenya, while his mother, a white American that came from Kansas.... Show

He is the first African Americanto in history to run on a major ticket. In the beginning of his
campaign a lot of people questioned his authority and wanted to know could he handle the
responsibilities of a president for such a big country. I want to know how deep is your love for
the people, what kind of courage have you manifested in the stances that you have and what are
you willing to sacrifice for. This is the fundamental question. I don t care what color you are. You
see, you can t take black people for granted just cause your black . (C.West) These questions just
made Obama a much stronger person and he continued to fight.
Obama portrayed himself as the candidate of change. His slogan was Change we can believe in .
His Republican opponent was Sen. John McCain. To make sure that his campaigns and speeches
would help him win the election, Obama began fundraising and broke previous records for
presidential primary and general campaigns. The campaign avoided using public campaign funds,
and raised all of its money privately. They had raised more than $650 million itself. (H.Cooper) He
also had television advertisements that ran in 18 states including traditionally Republican states
such as Alaska and North Carolina. (J.Harwood) His campaign spent $27 million on advertisements
against McCain and Republican National Committee s combined a total of $24.6 million.

Zoot Suit Riots
Last year I was able to get a small glimpse on the Zoot Suit Riots that had taken place in the
1930s. On August 4, 1942 the United States concluded a temporary agreement for the use of
Mexican agricultural labor on United State farms. World War II took a huge impact on the
beginning of this program and the beginning of the conflicts that ran through Harlem. These so
called riots soon began to change the views on the Mexicans that were dressed in such a way the
Americans began to have conflict with these Pachuco Zoot Suiters. In June 1943 Zoot Suit Riots in
Los Angeles, California were a series of attacks against Mexican Americanyouth and other
minorities by white American servicemen. After these Zoot Suit riots broke out and began to
startle the mexican ethnicities. Families were damaged, lives were killed. Discouraging this is a
topic that was completely reversed and not taken as seriously as is should have been. Imposing the
lower and colored minorities for the economic problems this country has gone through.
During these times dance halls were extremely popular for interacting, dancing and forgetting
about the stress of what was going on around the economic world such as the Great Depression.
L.A was full of mexicans. The style of the young people began to evolve and mexicans were
influenced through the hip, slang and Chicano ways. These zoot suits outfits were very popular in

6. Comparing Odyssey And Perseus Of Homer s Odyssey
If I were to summarize Clash of the Titans, it would be that Perseus, son of Zeus, watched his
entire family die as a result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, as a result of which he
pursues the gorgon medusa in order to use her head to defeat the kraken. My summery of the
Greek version would be that, Perseus; son of Zeus was cast out on the ocean with his mother in
a trunk. After being discovered by a fisherman, Perseus grows up accepting his godly half, goes
after medusa to save his mother s marriage. In the process he saves a women who soon became
his wife using the head of the gorgon, Medusa. Though the story and movie were from very
different time periods there are still several similarities. Several similarities between the movie and
Greek version include, Perseus saved a women using the head of the then slain gorgon medusa.
Another similarity would be that he and his mother were found in the ocean floating in a trunk in
both versions. Yet another similarity between the versions would be that, Perseus refuses to live on
Olympus with his father. In both versions, the reason for the princess being sacrificed, result from
the queen insulting the beauty of the goddess Aphrodite. Another big similarity between both
versions would be that Perseus unknowingly fulfilled a prophecy.... Show more content on

7. The Current Makeup Of The Texas Dream Act
The first policy alternative, the status quo, is to not repeal or change the current makeup of the
Texas Dream Act. Texas awards around $9 million in grants and scholarships, which are paid from
the appropriations made by the legislature every two years. This might seem like a large amount but
that cost is merely a fraction of the net profit the states makes off of undocumented students paying
tuition at universities across the state. By not changing the policy Texaswould expect to attain $56.1
million in tuition revenue from the undocumented students attending universities in Texas. Besides
the tuition revenue, Texas would expect to see another $65 billion from wages, salaries and
business earning by undocumented immigrants. The extra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On the other hand, US citizens from other states cannot pay in state tuition rates, so that is unfair
to them. A way to solve this issue perhaps would be to create a public policy to allow US
students to pay the same tuition rate across the US. In total, alternative 1 scores 2.05 out of 3.0.
The policy is of low cost to the state, brings in a large amount of revenue, and is relatively fair to
the parties involved and affected.
The second policy alternative received the lowest overall score for many reasons. Its efficiency
score is 0.5 although it does save the state $9 million every two years, but it cost the states more
maintain this population because without college education a large portion of the students will find
themselves incarcerated, with more health problems, and having more children earlier in their lives.
This policy is a means to an end, however the end result puts the state in a worse situation than it
currently is in. The cost benefit score is 0.35 because without the education the students are not able
to acquire the necessary skills to attract big name employers such as Google, Accenture, and even
Toyota who are presently looking for top talent. Also, the state would lose an estimated $56.1
Billion from the immigrant students and their parents, however that s not the only thing on the line.

In both saline and rabbit serum solutions, as the aspirin concentration increased, the salicylic acid

solution at increasing concentrations of aspirin was not equivalent to the increase attained in the

least double that achieved by the saline at the comparable aspirin concentration (x3.375, x2.96, and

Regarding distribution of the hydrolases involved, the major contributors to aspirin hydrolysis
activity outside of plasma are human CES 2 in the intestine and human CES 1 in the liver. In
plasma, aspirin is hydrolysed by BChE, PON, and albumin.
In rabbit plasma, there is a distinctly high concentration of CES, seemingly due to the low
expression of BChE, indicating an inverse relationship between CES and BChE levels (Bahar and
Imai, 2013). PON and BChE expression in all species are ubiquitous, with especially high
expression in primates (Bahar et al., 2012).
In humans, it is estimated that, for aspirin hydrolysis in plasma, BChE is approximately 30%
responsible for activity, and has low and high affinity binding sites for calcium and/or magnesium
(Bahar and Imai, 2013). PON is approximately 50% accountable, requiring calcium for substrate
hydrolysis, and albumin is 16%, acting as a plasma carrier protein by binding, and shows esterase
like activity. In rabbits, CES, due to its extensive hydrolytic ability (Bahar et al., 2012), makes it
the primary contributor to aspirin hydrolysis in rabbit plasma (Bahar and Imai, 2013).
Figure 1 consequently proves the presence of hydrolases most likely CES in the tested rabbit serum
solution. It was an effective medium in which aspirin hydrolysis could

9. St John s Lutheran Church
St John s Lutheran Church, Ipswich, was built in 1961 after the designs of architect Karl Langer as
the primary church for the Lutheran community in Ipswich. It is home to a very active parish that
incorporates both modern and traditional rites.
The Ipswich region was home to the Yagara peoples during centuries previous to European
colonisation, and the area was occupied by the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul clans. (Community
Cultural Services Department, 2015).
The area was firstly explored by John Oxley shortly after the establishment of the penal settlement
of Moreton Bay, first in Redcliffe and now in current day Brisbane, in 1824. The area was
developed after 1826 with the establishment of Limestone Station, which became a common stop in
the road between Brisbane and the Darling Downs (Ipswich City Council, 2016a).
The region was open to free settlers in 1842, with the township of Ipswich established in 1843
(Ipswich City Council, 2016b). From that date onwards, the town competed in importance with
neighbouring Brisbane, its economy being based around the extraction of limestone and coal, as
well as farming. (Erbacher, 2016). In 1860, Ipswich was officially proclaimed a municipality and it
became a Customs port. Four years later, the state government decided to open the Ipswich railway
workshops as a pioneer technological centre, event which would result in the construction of the
first railway line of the state, opened in 1867 between Ipswich and Grandchester

10. The Federal Budget For The United States
The Federal budget for the United States is a very important part of what the president must put
together every year so every department in the government can know what they will be able to
spend in the upcoming year. Government spending generally exceeds the budget put in place
which is why America is so far into debt, the good thing about the budget is that about 21% of it
goes back into the economy. The fiscal policy is how the government spendingand taxation
influence the economy based on what goods and services are purchased or the taxes collected. The
federal budget is split into three parts the mandatory spending, discretionary spending, and interest
on debt. It may seem like the interest on debt would need the biggest part of the budget because the
U.S. is trillions of dollars in debt, but this part of the budget actually takes up the least amount of
money. The mandatory and discretionary take up a little over 90% of the whole budget paying for
all of the services the government provides citizens. The discretionary spending in the United States
mostly goes to the military forces and pentagon, while a very small part of that budget goes to
education, health services, food assistance, among many others. The Mandatory spending is the
spending category where congress authorizes spending that is not in the normal appropriations
process. This budget category includes Medicare, social security, food stamps, along with a large
amount on transportation. All of these

11. Discuss The Difference Between New England And The...
After waiting over 100 years before England joined the race for colonization, in 1607 England has
finally established a permanent colony in Jamestown. Years later, in 1620, supposedly trying to
land in Virginia, the Puritans accidentally landed in Plymouth Massachusetts. Therefore, while New
England and the Chesapeake region were both settled and ruled by the English, by the 1700s they
had evolved into two very separate distinct societies due to the differences in colonization, settlers,
and economic activities in each region.
The difference in colonization led to distinct societies between New England and the Chesapeake
regions. In 1607, after Sir Walter Raleighs colony of Roanoke was unsuccessful, Jamestown was
successfully colonized and was due to an economic purpose. As stated by John Smith, Dig gold,
wash gold, refine gold, load gold (Doc 5). John Smith clearly shows how the colonists only cared
about riches. They didn t care about establishing a colony as they were occupied and focused on
the path to riches. More than half of us died (Doc 5). Due to this greed of riches and lack of
control in the colony, many settlers as a consequence died. However, due to John Smith and his
control over the colony, led Jamestown to not fail like the colony of Roanoke. Now while colonists
focused on the economic gain they would receive from Jamestown, the Puritans focused on the
religious freedom they would finally acquire. Now the Puritans wanted to separate from the Church

15. Differences Between The Colonies Of New England And The...
The differences between the colonies of New England and the southern region were stark. First,
the settlers who immigrated to the new world had different reasons for doing so. South Carolina
was established as a buffer zone between other English colonies and the Spanish colonies in
Florida. Georgia was founded for an even more interesting reason. In England, there were many
social problems including lewdness, drunkenness, and various sexual sins. Also, those in the
upper class who found themselves unable to pay back their loans were sent to debtor s prisons.
Georgia was intended to be a place for those people to get a new start, however, most of the
colonists who ended up there were poor farmers. On the other hand, the colonies of New England
were set up primarily for religious reasons. Although there were some that sought profit in New
England, most settlers sought liberty and freedom of worship. English separatists, who vehemently
disagreed with the way the Church of England was set up, left Holland and came to America on the
Mayflower. They landed in modern Massachusettsand established the Plymouth Colony. Rhode
Island was also founded on a religious basis after Roger Williams and his fellow dissenters were
exiled from Massachusetts. It became a haven for Quakers, Jews, Baptists and members of other
minority religions.
A second difference in the colonies of the southern region and of New England comes in the basis
of their economies. South Carolina was focusing on

However, based on the article, Malaysia Air s main union leaned on the country s politicians to
squash the share swap because of concerns about cost cuts. Those fears were well founded.
Malaysia Air has been bleeding losses because of rising competition and soaring fuel prices. The
tie up was meant to reduce overlap between the two Malaysia based carriers on some routes, cut
expenses and help shore up Malaysia Air s balance sheet. AirAsia s shares have lost about a
quarter of their value since the swap was announced last year. There is room to rise. According to
the Winning Customers in the Marketplace model there are nine criteria that a firm should follow

criterion are all important for customers in selecting a service provider, if AirAsia is able to meet

Infection control within a healthcare facility is the prevention of the spread of many
microorganisms from patient to patient, patient to a member of staff and also from the staff
member to the patient that are in there care. The World Health Organisation have defined
healthcare associated infections as an infection occurring in a patient in a hospitalor other healthcare
facility in whom the infection was not present or incubating at the time of admission. Every
healthcare facility from hospitals to general practitioners office should have a designated member
of staff or a team of people who ensure that the infection control procedures are abided by and
adhered to at all times in order to protect both staff and patients. More than 300,000 people each
year are affected by a healthcare associated infection and the cost of treatment for these patients is
over ВЈ3,000 and there is also the cost of treatment after discharge.
The Standard Precautions
Standard precautions are set in place in order to prevent the transmission of infections from one

20. Summary Of Bernard Goldberg s Bias
Bernard Goldberg is a 72 year old American journalist, author, and political commentator. In the
early 1970s, Goldberg worked as a producer and reporter for CBS news. In 2001, Goldberg
released his first book, Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News, which
became the number one New York Times bestseller. In addition to Bias, he has also written four
other books Arrogance, 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America, Crazies to the Left of Me,
Wimps to the Right, and A slobbering Love Affair. Goldberg s outstanding journalism
has earned
him the title as the winner of fourteen Emmy Awards. Having served nearly thirty years at CBS
News, Mr. Goldberg had earned a reputation as one of the most original writers and thinkers in
broadcast journalism. However, when he observed his own industry, he realized the liberal media
had completely missed their mission to give honest news. After years of sharing his observations
and promoting more balanced reportings, Goldberg soon realized that no one listened because they
believed they were doing the right thing. The liberal bias continued, therefore Bernard Goldberg
decided to take the situation into his own hands and expose the distortion of the media himself.
Goldberg s breathtaking and shocking best seller book, Bias, reveals the close mindedness of the
news culture and their mission to entertain rather than share facts. In Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes

21. Symbols In The Great Gatsby And Citizen Kane
The Great Gatsby and Citizen Kane are both stories in which the main character wants to get
back to times before where they presently are. In both stories they have an object that symbolizes
a time and person they wish to be. For Gatsby it is the green light and for Kane it is Rosebud.
What I want to explore is what happens when theses symbols are no longer symbols, but
memories. First I want to talk about Gatsby, in the book the green light symbolizes Daisy, which
we find out in the fifth chapter when Nick and Daisy are at Gatsby s house after he has showed
them all of his shirts. This is important because for Gatsby, Daisy is a physical embodiment of a
time when he was happier, and he wants to go back to that time therefore he has to attain Daisy.
The reason the green light represented Daisy was because it was the closest Gatsby could get to
her from the other side of the bay it was something he could look at every night and reminisce on
what he wants to make his future. Consequently, when Gatsby is telling Daisy and Nick how
you can typically see the green light on her dock the significance of the light vanishes and he
becomes absorbed at the idea of the death of light to where he doesn t notice the physical
embodiment of his happy time is in his reach. For example, it s like setting the goal of getting
into UT so you hang a poster in your room to represent the idea, and then you go for a visit but the
whole time you re thinking of the poster because it was all you had

22. Lysistrata Analysis Essay
Lysistrata is a tale which is centered around an Athenian woman named Lysistrata and her comrades
who have taken control of the Acropolis in Athens. Lysistrata explains to the old men how the
women have seized the Acropolis to keep men from using the money to make war and to keep
dishonest officials from stealing the money. The opening scene of Lysistrataenacts the stereotypical
and traditional characterization of women in Greece and also distances Lysistrata from this
overused expression, housewife character. The audience is met with a woman, Lysistrata, who is
furious with the other women from her country because they have not come to discuss war with
her. The basic premise of the play is, Lysistrata coming up with a plan to put an... Show more

The old men protest how the women they have nourished all these years have turned against them
and seized a sacred shrine. Although, while the men are busy with their smoking logs, the women
walk in carrying pitchers of water which they will pour over the fires which the men have set. The
old men and old women trade insults, but the women will not back down, and they empty their
water over the heads of the old men. When the magistrate arrives, he tells the men the women s
behavior is the result of the men spoiling their women and treating them with gentleness when they
do not deserve to be cherished. The magistrate orders the men to force open the doors, but he
moves to a safe distance to watch.
When the doors are forced open, Lysistrata emerges. The magistrate orders her arrested, but the
policeman is too intimidated by Lysistrata to arrest her. The other women join Lysistrata in
defying the policemen, who are too cowed to follow the magistrate s orders to seize the women.
The magistrate responds to the women s actions with a claim, they shall never lose to women and
the newly brave police attack the women, but they are soon beaten off and in retreat. The women
say they can administer the money, since they are used to administering the household money.
Lysistrata also tells the magistrate how the women have been patient while the men got ready for
the war and refused to listen to any advice.

24. The Broken Windows, Zero Tolerance, And Problem Oriented...
The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss the three different policing strategies known as,
broken windows, zero tolerance, and problem oriented policing. Each of these strategies have both
their pros and cons throughout this paper I will be describing each of these strategies along with
discussing a few articles in relation to these strategies. In light of the recent tension between law
enforcement and the community, specifically minorities ill also be discussing how these strategies
have either helped or hurt communities. The broken windows theory, originally pioneered by James
Q. Wilson and George L. Kelling argues that a broken window is a sign that no one cares about the
appearance of the property. This proverbial broken window in turn encourages other residents to
neglect their property. This further sends the entire neighborhood into a downward spiral, we begin
to see large amounts of litter scattered throughout the neighborhood, home owners move out,
houses become vacant and left to deteriorate, rental properties begin to spring up, and single family
homes are turned into multifamily homes. As the income of residents decreases so does the
property value of the neighborhood, and gradually a criminal element begins to establish itself
within the neighborhood. Zero tolerance policing holds that strict non discretionary law
enforcement that is tough on crime, specifically minor offenses will decrease more serious crime.
This policing style is closely related

America is obsessed with body image. In today s world, you can t go through the day without

accepted, the nonstop reminders to change what they look like, struggling with bodyimage has now
become a major social phenomenon and it s time for women to challenge that narrative. Women of
all ages are facing face increasing scrutinization over their body image through media influence
leading to invasive surgeries, increased depression, and eating disorders. Media plays a large role

America s poor body image can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. The standards of how society
views women as beautiful have changed throughout the years. Seeing constantly that only
women who are a size two are considered beautiful doesn t make loving yourself easier. These
issues cause depression and eating disorders among women and some extreme cases the criticism
and self hatred lead to suicide. The reason often evolves from people picking on them and
constantly being put down by the media. The media is mostly to blame for these false perceptions
of beauty, through their advertisements and the type of women they cast for lead roles. Recently,
there s been small movements of progress. More diverse women, ethnically diverse and bodily
diverse, have been making waves. America must step up to the plate to challenge the media on the

28. Two Types Of Solar Eclipses In Greek History
An eclipse is an astronomical event that happens when a celestial object such as a moon or a
planet moves into the shadow of another celestial body and there are two types of the eclipse on
Earth named solar eclipse and lunar eclipse. A solar eclipse happens when the moon s shadow falls
somewhere on the surface of the earthand a lunar eclipse is the opposite of solar eclipsewhich
happens when the earth s shadow falls on the moon. There are two sections of the shadow, the dark
umbra, and the partially shaded penumbra, their placement determines the type of eclipse that
can be seen on earth though placement sun.According to Greek history, the person who
predicted the first eclipse was a Greek mathematician, Thales of Miletus. On May 28, 585 BC,
the Lydians, and Medes were engaged in fierce fighting and this was the six year of war between
them. Each was from a different side of Anatolia which is modern day Turkey. As the battle
stretched on into the evening, both armies were surprised to see the Sun suddenly darkening and
they believed that it was a message from the gods that they were displeased by the strife. But the
Lydians and Medes laid down their arms. They swore to end the long war and solidified the
peace by giving a Lydian princess to marry the king of the Medes. This is one of the earliest
events in recorded history to which we can set an exact date as we can calculate when that
eclipse took place. The eclipses are valuable to the historian as they give us an event that we can
use to correctly date ancient chronologies. Ancient historians recorded that his eclipse that
stopped the war was actually predicted by Thales. Through thousands of year, patiently watching
the movements of the Sun and Moon in the sky, ancient astronomers realized eclipses happen
when the moon passed directly in front of the Sun. For the solar eclipse to work though, of
course, the moon has to be big enough to block out the sun. In reality, the moon is 400 times
smaller than the Sun but in a fantastic cosmic. However, from our point of view, the moon is
almost exactly the same size as the sun in the sky and this means it will line up and it will
completely block the disc of the sun. If the moon is the smaller or any further

29. Analysis Of No Longer At Ease By Chinua Achebe
In the 1950s, most African nations commenced fighting for independence. In this context, Chinua
Achebe wrote his second novel, No Longer at Ease published during Nigeria s independence. The
story occurs in Lagos and Umuofia and the main character, Obi, got money from the Umuofians to
study in England. Nonetheless, when he returned to Nigeria, he is trapped between his tradition and
western culture. In the book, Achebe stresses a theme of colonial mindset through the refutation of
Nigerian culture, through the use of English and through the divinization of the white man.
Achebe highlights the presence of a colonial mindset in Nigeria throughout the book. Indeed, he
shows how colonialism affected Nigerian customs. For instance, ... Show more content on

31. Gaius Marius a Military Leader
Gaius Marius was born into a poor family. He began his political career serving in the military is
Spain. According to Livy, he was elected Tribune of the People in 119. His general at the time
was very impressed with him and helped he achieve this status. He then served under Metellus
in the war against Jugurtha, but Metellus was not a successful leader and failed. When Marius
returned back to Rome ran for consul and won the election. He then broke his first law, and
persuaded the comitia tribute to give him control of the forces in Africa, which only the senate
could do at the time, but he gained the power anyway. He then went to break more rules, by
offering the poor a job as a solider, giving them an opportunity to make money, and later gaining
their alliance. The war he so badly wanted to lead, was won, but it was actually won by Sulla and
not Marius. Sulla was a young questor at the time and only starting his political career. Rome was
then attacked in the North. Because of Marius success in geurilla warfare with Jugurtha, Rome
trusted him to take care of the fighting in the north, and Marius was elected a 2nd time to consul.
Which is again, illegal. After Rome was safe in the North, Marius wanted to repay his army and he
established laws that would secure his army land after they has served their time in the army. To do
so, he aligned himself with the Tribune of the People, Saturnius. This alliance would gain him a
third consulship later. Saturnius and Marius went

money does not come easily, so I would not buy as much as I earned. I would like to save it and

Q4. Schor refers to the second structural feature that creates too much consumption as the
ecological bias . What does she mean by this? Do you agree with her that it is serious?
Schor means that people overuse of the ecological resources of the earth, which account for
global warming, species extinction, ecosystem depletion, water shortages, deforestation and soil
erosion. I absolutely agree with her that overuse of natural capital is serious because the rate of
resource use, pollution, and ecological degradation exceeds earth s absorptive and regenerative
capacities. We are already beyond a sustainable relation with earth. If rest of the world lived like
the Americans do, need an additional four planets to support this lifestyle.

39. Felix Mendelssohn
The characterization of the musical production of Felix Mendelssohn requires the
acknowledgement of two key observations: the essentially classical structure of Mendelssohn s
compositions and the frequent romantic innovations Mendelssohn employed. Mendelssohn was a
conservative fixture in an era of radical upheaval the early nineteenth century. Intellectually in
Europe, this was an era of transition, as the romantics sought to upend the enlightenment
establishment across all areas of artistic, scientific and cultural production: whether the orderly
structures of classical music, the faith in reason and scientific progress that animated Enlightenment
tracts and polemics, the embrace of technological progress, or the vehement rejection of
superstitions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For all that doubt such a proclamation, consider the evidence: he wrote numerous compositions
including 5 operas and 11 symphonies during his boyhood (5 16 years old) for string orchestras,
concerti, sonatas and fugues. Mendelssohn started with piano lessons from his mother before
moving on to a series of tutors to nurture his musical interests. To trace the root of Mendelssohn s
inclinations for classical and baroque forms, specifically his deep appreciation for Bach, it is
perhaps instructive to focus on one key figure in Mendelssohn s childhood, his tutor Carl
Friedrich Zelzter and his aunt Sarah Levy. Mendelssohn absorbed Zeltzer s conservative tastes
and Levy s passion for Bach during the numerous composition and piano lessons Mendelssohn
had with these two figures. This musical enculturation perhaps explains in part Mendelssohn s
fondness for classical structures as well as his deep appreciation for an imitation of the forms
and styles of Johan Christian Bach. In 1821 Mendelssohn had the fortune to meet Goethe, the
great German poet responsible for the likes of Faust. The meeting of the musical prodigy and the
prolific poet was one of mutual admiration, and Goethe s poems proved a source of several of
Mendelssohn s musical creations. During a series of years starting in 1829 Mendelssohn visited
several localities in Great Britain and the Italic Peninsula, including Venice, Rome and Naples. His
visits and interactions with

Schönbrunn Palace is a political, cultural, and artistic marvel as it stands today and during the
period it was made and as it exists today. The building and all surrounding buildings are meant to

being part of the room. Schönbrunn is seen as a Gesamtkunstwerks. It was meant to out shine

45. What Is The Role Of The Barons During The Gilded Age
Carly Klebine
Ms. Sheptyck
APUSH: 5

Gilded Age Essay There were many conflicting views during the Gilded Age. Some viewed those
at the top of the socio economic ladder as robber barons due to the vast amount of wealth that
never seemed to extend to the workers in terms of salary or safety. However, some called them
captains of industries, those who bettered the economy and the lives of workers. These people had
an enormous positive impact on the country s businesses and philanthropy on American economy
and society. They transformed America into the most powerful industrial nation, leading the
country s charge by building powerful industries. Zinn quite firmly believed that these people

46. China’s New Nationalism Essay
No one can deny from recent news that there has been a strong surge of Chinese nationalism, and
that this nationalism has turned heads in the international community. The nationalism that the
CCP has affected is taking on a life of its own. In its strategy of pragmatic nationalism, the CCP
tried to blur the lines between love of country with love of the state and governing body. What has
resulted is a whole new breed of nationalism that is very much independent of the Chinese
Communist Party and in fact has caused the CCP great concern. This new form of nationalism is
much more vibrant, passionate, virulent and uncontrollable than the government had intended with
its post 1989 strategy of obtaining legitimacy through nationalism. This... Show more content on

The I am Chinese program was launched at Universities to make people proud of being Chinese
and also, of the Communist Party that was portrayed as the governing body that has contributed
greatly to the people of China. One experience so far in China that left a strong impression on
my mind was a visit to the Shaanxi museum of history. Our tour guide was a locally educated
young woman in her twenties. As she took us through the different periods of Chinese history, at
every exhibit showing some sort of tool or mechanistic contraption she would turn and say as
you can see, the Chinese people are very smart! She also recounted a story in which she was very
offended that an American made a comment that Chinese people are short, to which she replied
yes, we are, but we have five thousand years of history and culture! Both the richness and vastness
of Chinese history was a huge source of pride for her, as her slightly illogical response to the
American s comment shows. In retrospect, her age denotes that she grew up on the government s
campaign in the 1990s to educated students about China s greatness, to foster pride. At the same
time however, China s battered history with the West since the Opium war of the mid 19th century
was emphasized to demonstrate how Chinese has been constantly abused and mistreated by the
imperialist powers. The CCP was portrayed as the right government to help

47. China s Aging Population And The Hukou System
The selection of blog entries is an important process involving the need to thoroughly take into
account the subject topic and accordingly carry out the review of the topic. The blogs are means
to represent the idea in brief in order to make it clear for understanding by the reader. The blog
should not be formed of complex set of words, which are tough to understand by the reader.
Instead, the precise description in an easy language should be carried out in order to benefit the
reader by adding to their knowledge. Thus, two blogs have been written here titled as China s aging
population, and The Hukou system . Each of these has been described in the context of the topic so
as to make them clear and precise enough to the reader.
The blog titled China s aging population describes how the increase in population is a growing
concern for the country. The reason for selection of this topic is to explore how the increase in
aged population of China is causing an impact on the country s economic system. The increase
in population is a serious issue of concern, which is well controlled by the government through
introducing one child policy (Peilin, 2015). This parameter has however resulted into several
side effects such as increase in aged people in the country. As a result of this, the expenses
associated with elderly people is also increasing, which is an interesting area focused in the blog. It
was rather a good choice of topic as it helped in exploring how the increase

48. Good Life Is The Free Life Essay
In this paper, I will argue that good life is the free life. As Immanuel Kant once said,
independence from being constrained by another s choice, insofar as it can coexist with the
someone else s freedom. I will also argue that the role of the government in helping one live the
good life is to protect its citizens as well as to keep the peace.
Before any arguments are made it is important to understand and state the position that Immanuel
Kant holds for what constitutes the good life and the role of the government in helpings us
achieve it. When it comes to the concept of the good life Kant believes that the highest good for
human beings is acquiring both complete virtue and happiness at the same time. However, it is
important to understand that there is no necessary connection between the two, and it might even
lead to opposition. For example, picture someone who is on a diet and there is a slice of
chocolate cake in front of that person, the right thing to do is to not eat it the cake even though
eating the cake would ve made that person happy. Kant focuses on virtue and what individuals must
do to cultivate a virtuous character. For Kant, virtue is the strength possessed by individuals to
resist bodily inclinations and do what is right. According to Kant this is what differentiate us from
animals (bodily desires) and divine beings (reason). Kant claims that the purpose of human reason
is to make us worthy of happiness by helping us in becoming virtuous. According to

A New Paradigm of Nuclear Energy Thorium Based Breeder Reactors
Nuclear energy is one of the safest and cleanest forms of energy used today. At a rate of 1 death
per 25 TWh generated, nuclear energy is 11 times safer than solar energy, which has an efficiency
rate of 1 death per 2.27 TWh generated and over 4000 times less deadly than coal at 161 deaths per
TWh (Wang, 2011). However, the inherent dangers, of a nuclear reactor meltdown still exists,
despite the safeguards implemented to make them increasingly unlikely. Meltdowns and breaches
can occur due to various factors, such construction defects, aging infrastructure, operator error, and

Below is an equation outlining one possible fission reaction: Figure 1. An example fission reaction
for Uranium 235 (Bodner Research Group, n.d.)
Therefore, with each interaction releasing three more neutrons than it started with, the reaction can
perpetuate with no further energy input. In power plants, excess neutrons are absorbed by rods to
control the rate of reaction. If there is any error, the reaction can quickly get out of control and
cause a runaway reaction, creating a meltdown due to excessive heat.
By far and beyond, widespread catastrophic meltdowns are the cause of the general public s anxiety
when it comes to nuclear power. The most recent major nuclear disaster was at the Fukushima
Daiichi Reactor in Fukushima, Japan in 2011 (Simon, 2011). An earthquake triggered tsunami
damaged the reactor and caused a meltdown, as well as a massive hydrogen gas explosion. This
explosion vented contaminated steam and radioactive material into the plant s surroundings, which
eventually made its way to nearby ocean currents, prefectures, and countries. With such a largely
publicized recent meltdown, the imminent dangers of containment breaches and meltdowns are
still fresh in the public s perception of nuclear power.
However, there are long term waste disposal issues for

51. The Principles And Practices Of Differential Diagnosis Of...
A disorder in bilinguals is not caused by bilingualism or cured by monolingualism (Kohnert,
2013). A common misconception about bilingual children is that the acquisition of subsequent
languages causes or exacerbates a speech sound disorder. I intended to prove that this is not the
case. In order to do this I will firstly clarify the principles and practices of differential diagnosis of
Speech Sound Disorders and the possible models used. I then intend to compare and contrast
monolingualism and bilingualism with reference to Speech Sound disorders. Throughout, I will
relate the information back to Jane and the data provided before finally discussing possible
assessments for Jane.
What is a Speech Sound Disorder? There is a myriad of definitions and ways to describe disordered
speech. To put it simply; speech is the physical production of sounds through a series of air
pressure waves in the vocal tract. A disorder is a difficulty or the manner in which speech is not
found in typically developing children (Pert Stow, 2015). The term Speech Sound Disorder is very
much a generic label. It encompasses a heterogeneous population including children whose speech
is intelligible but may have a lisp. It also includes those whose speech is incomprehensible due to
omissions and substitutions of certain phonemes and people born with anatomical abnormalities
such as cleft palate. (Dodd, Differential Diagnosis and Treatment of Children With Speech Disorder

To sum up, the budgetary control system had its advantage of knowing in advance what was

Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company had made the whole working process more worsened.
2.Explain how Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company s budgetary control system could be revised

Budgetary control system is an essential management tool that communicates management s plans

can have the negative effects on the performance of the company. Thus, it is vital to develop a
compatible budgeting system which can assist managers in fulfilling long term goals and strategic
plans.
First, drawn from the situation of Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company, it is pointed out that
feasible targets play the first priority in designing the budgeting system. If the goal is too high as in
the case of Ferguson Son Manufacturing Company, then, in the following steps, the whole process
automatically gets into trouble. The company should be realistic when setting any benchmark
among the periods of manufacturing. The conditions of equipment, employees, orders, sales, and
