Petruchio Changes In The Taming Of The Shrew
In William Shakespeare s comical play The Taming of the Shrew, Petruchio marries Kate for her
enormous dowry and tames her shrewishness and bad temper despite being an aggressively assertive
woman. The play focuses on Petruchio s controlling nature over Kate, treating her poorly in front of
others. At first, Petruchio makes his peers believe that he is a respectful man, but as the play
progresses, this thought flips. Petruchio s counterfeit persona differs from his intentions and continues
on until the reader notices the changes because of the characters Petruchio affects. During Petruchio
and Kate s first encounter, Petruchio s response towards her wild actions is the opposite. Petruchio
reacts positively to Kate s ill temperedness as a

Hypnosis Persuasive Speech
am absolutely sure you ve heard about Hypnosis. Either as being a procedure of treating wounds of
the heart and soul (past) or as an alternative remedy for a variety of physical health situations. Some
years ago hypnosis was a privilege of an elite of people who understood how to practice the secrets
and techniques of the art. They had the right information. Of course, they chose to keep the precious
info away from the masses.
As a hypnosis specialist for more than 10 years now, I feel I am able to write a little something useful,
especially for those who haven t yet dived in the magical realm of hypnosis!
So, in this article I will try to clear the field for you and tell you exactly what you will need to have to
emerge as a real hypnotist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did you know you possessed certain psychic talents? Qualities provided to you from your creator
before you were given birth to! As you arrived on our planet however (as a new child), you forgot all
about it. This loss of memory effect was constantly enhanced as you brought up with bogus and
restrictive beliefs.
Okay! It s definitely not your fault. But it surely will be, if you do nothing at all about it now that you
know what went down. So, with hypnosis it is possible to uncover all those impressive psychic
(paranormal should you prefer) abilities of yours. Might be remedial powers or intuitive skills and so
on, you are a specialist in a certain field without being aware of it most of the times. But you can
uncover the whole real truth!
This is how hypnosis can certainly help BUT you must initially confirm to yourself that you really
possess those abilities. And you are not the only human being on the earth with those advantages! So
keep confirming and having faith and you will be led to where you wish to be (having all the right
information in your hands)...
And that s all to get started with Hypnosis!
But before I leave you I wish to provide you with one final word of

Mesmer Magnetism Essay
According to German physician, Franz Anton Mesmer, the entire universe is connected by an invisible
thing know as animal magnetism. Mesmer believed that the entire human body was filled with this
magnetism and that it was carried through the body in a constant flow. Illnesses occur as the result of
the flow of magnetism becoming blocked off. Mesmer was able to cure his patients through several
appointments. Soon, high powered, influential members of society began to investigate Mesmer s
practices, this committee was called the Royal Commission. In order for Mesmer to cure his patients
he would sit opposite of them and would touch their finger and knees, he would also look into the
afflicted person s eyes (typically unmarried, rich, young ladies). After several appointments with
Mesmer the patients would experience a crisis and would be miraculously cured. Mesmer first started
curing his patients in one on one appointments, but soon he began to train others in this art, these male
understudies of Mesmer were called adepts. With the help of these adepts Mesmer was able to cure
more people at once. Mesmer, who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only one of the five trees in the test was filled with magnetism, the others contained none. The adept
was placed in front of the trees and was asked which if of any of the trees were filled with magnetism.
The apept followed the row of trees stating that each one had a little more magnetism than the one
before it. The adept never got to the tree that was actually filled with magnetism, they collapsed onto
the ground and suffered a crisis. Another test was conducted with a woman. The woman was placed in
one room and in the adjoining room sat Deslon. The woman was not affected by the magnetism until
Deslon entered the room. Once Deslon entered the room the woman suffered from a crisis. The tests
concluded that animal magnetism was in fact not real, it was a

The Fundamental Concepts Of Statistics
Question 5
This paper will provide a sample of the fundamental concepts in statistics. During research there is
usually variance between individuals within a group or between different groups. During hypothesis
testing the researcher wants to know if the sample of data collected is truly representative of the entire
population.
Null hypothesis testing is concerned with the correlation or differences in means (continuous data)
between groups. The null hypothesis works on the premise that there is no difference between two
groups such as males and females who respond to a set of items (independent sample T test). The null
hypothesis can also be described as the hypothesized mean being equal to the population mean. So the
null hypothesis is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas, if I fail to reject the null, because I believe the groups are the same when, in fact, they are
different this is a type 2 error. In its simplest terms, Type I error is the incorrect rejection of the null
hypothesis, whereas Type II is the incorrect acceptance of the null hypothesis.
Related to hypothesis testing is the Significance level or cut off point (alpha). The P or the probability
value is one of the indicators that can be used to test the null hypothesis. Usually a significance level =
.05 (95% confidence interval) or lower is the accepted rule for rejecting the null hypothesis. This
means that we will accept up to 5% of type 1 error. Also, P 0.01 sometimes is referred to as
statistically highly significant. If the p value is .05, then we would reject the null hypothesis. Visually,
on a bell curve (two tailed test) this can be presented as the critical region or how far our sample
statistic is from the null hypothesis. In relation to P values there is the confidence interval (or bound).
A 0.05 level of significance would be centered on a 95% confidence interval. If our given value sits
outside the bound we would reject the null. However, if our value sits within the interval we would not
reject the null hypothesis.
Another concern during research is the issue of sampling error due to only a portion of the population
being used during a study. Even when bias is reduced by random sampling the

Dermatomyositis Research Paper
Dermatomyositis Dermatomyositis is not common disease. It s an inflammatory disease which causes
muscle weakness and gives a distinctive skin rash. It is more common in females than males, affects
both adults and children. In adults, dermatomyositis usually occurs between the ages of late 40 s and
60 s and in children, it usually occurs between the ages of 5 and 15. Some of the distinctive symptoms
of Dermatomyositis is the skin changes that occur. The skin will develop a violet colored or dusky red
rash, most commonly on the face and eyelids and on areas around the nails, knuckles, knees, elbows,
chest, and back. The rash which can be patchy with bluish purple discoloration is often the first sign of
Dermatomyositis. Muscles are also weakness progressively closest to the trunk, affecting both sides of

Eight Disastrous Events
Throughout this paper, I will examine eight disastrous events that led to the establishment of new
buildings codes. The tragedies that took place during these events paved way for, new and improved
codes that were implemented to help protect health, safety, and the natural resources that sustain us.
The eight different events that I chose to research, I felt had the most significant impact in the
development of some of the most commonly used building codes today. The first event that I will
discuss is 9/11, 9/11 is one of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil. The second event is one of
the largest hotel fires that ever broke out, which happened on November 21, 1980, at the MGM Grand

Characteristics Of Beowulf A Savior To The People
Beowulf Essay:
Characteristics of Beowulf
Agnes, Cheong Pui Lei
University of Macau
In the period of Nordic heroic age, the appearance of Beowulf seems a savior to the people. The story
of Beowulf, who reminds that in the last years of Eastern Han, a man said to Cao cao, Out of the chaos
come the heroes , is also suitable to describe Beowulf undoubtedly, the riots need to be quelled, and he
must be the hero who is able to save the world and people during the disorder era, it is surrounding by
danger and oppression: monsters and retaliation. Beowulf has three battles with the enemies, the
monster Grendel invades the kingdom, Heorot; the mother of Grendel revenges for her son; and the
dragon attacks his homeland injured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the background of Beowulf, it is said that the name includes tow meaning. The first one,
Beo , is the short name in Nordic lexics, wulf is equal to wolf , thus, it could be translated as the wolf
of the north ; second one is, the meaning of Beo is equal to Bear in English, it implied that to be a man
as strong as the bear. In fact, Beowulf deserves a name like that, a man who dares to against the
vicious side without fear and dares to die. Throughout three battles, he never holds back before the
peril, and to do everything in his power during the fight either enemy or fellow. In the initial fight with
Grendel, he is unarmed and in one on one combat, eventually, he tears Grendel s arm apart and bring
the head as trophy of triumph. The second battle is with Grendel s mother, one with full of hatred to
Beowulf, they fight under the water for a long time; incredibly, Beowulf won and killed Grendel s
mother. The third fight with the dragon, no matter how weak Beowulf is, even his braveness support
him to hit dragon mortally, unfortunately he is injured and betrayed by the warriors he trusted.
Nevertheless, the spirit of never give up and the magnificent feat impressed people after he died. This
spirit of courage is similar to Samurai spirit in Bushido from Japan. In Samurai spirit, courage and
bravery are different, Courage is doing what is right. It also can be referred to the situation of
Beowulf, the battles he fight for is doing the right thing for his family, homeland, and

Essay on Enzymes
Enzymes Enzymes are catalysts. Most are proteins. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been
discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein part.
Link to discussion of these ribozymes.)
Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so,
they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these
interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom from
each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the structure of malonic acid allows it to bind to the same site on the enzyme (b). But
there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive because if
you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually restore the rate of
catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for the binding
(=catalytic) site on the enzyme.
Factors Affecting Enzyme Action
[IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each
enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing at
values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of
* tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and
* noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape.
Examples:
* the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while
* the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small
intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). [
Discussion]
Changes in pH alter the state of ionization of charged amino acids (e.g., Asp, Lys) that may

The Debate Of Marriage And Pure Relationships
Throughout the centuries, America has shifted to the influx of culture. To accommodate to the change,
terms, values, and beliefs have had to be modified. One of the many value modifications time has
undergone, is the importance of marriage. One sociologist at John Hopkins University, Andrew J.
Cherlin, says, that since the 1900s the socially accepted meaning of marriage and pure relationships
has sequentially been altered to what it is today. Marriage has shifted from a pure, companionate
relationship into more of an individualized, optional one. In order to understand the extent and reason
for the transition, it is important to understand marriage as it was, as it is now, and then how that has
affected the concept of sexuality. Genesis 2:18 states, it is not good that man should be alone: I will
make him a helper comparable to him. This verse tends to be used in every marriage based debate, to
the point that it becomes very cliché, however, if one were to study it its truth would be evident. Kay
Daigle, Founder of Beyond Ordinary Woman Ministries wrote in an excerpt called God s Design for
Sexual Intimacy, Marriage is God s design and institution. God created it for relationship, close
companionship and mutual support. Marriage, as a sacred vow, was designed for the coming together
of one man and one woman. Human beings were not created for isolation or loneliness. This is evident
in every day life, with how people are always looking for ways to be accepted. All

Comparison Of La Boheme And Die Walkure
The stories of opera, a popular form of entertainment where composers stores into musical theatrical

world. It has become increasingly popular entertainment where composers turn stories into simpler,
more realistic characters, and establishing plays that have characters with common feelings and non
could do that better than Giacomo Puccini and Richard Wangner in La Boheme and Die Walkure

The musicality and appealing melodies in La Boheme by Puccini are ugmented and boasted by the
literary elements of the work. This story spins around the circumstances of the love of a pair of
youthful and emotinal drenched lovers, Rodolfo and Mimi. A heart breaking tale, where the element of

motifs transformation is also used in cases where the character attributes of the characters in the play

Register Nurse Socialization
My journey to grow into a professional register nurse is becoming a reality. I have been working all
my life to accomplish this goal. However, as I have learned during my reading and research there is a
lot more to becoming a professional nurse then just obtaining the title of RN and there is an extensive
difference between a RN and LPN that I will discuss in more detail in the second half of this paper. In
the meantime let me emphasize the first half of this paper. I am asked to define professional
socialization and then summarize the four stages of the process of professional socialization with a
rationale, when I read this I just say how, that sounds impossible and then again it just means I am one
step closer to learning to be a professional register nurse. On the other hand, to really grow I must

Firstly, let us find out what the criteria is for a profession. To have a profession it is generally a field of
study that you would require specialized training, for example have a special license to do the required
job. As a result this is not just a job but a passion and a career choice. Furthermore, in a profession a
code of ethics or standards is in place, and has a professional organization that establishes guidelines
like for example for nurses the ANA sets the standards of care (p27). Therefore, is a RN a
professional? Professional is defined as person who has completed an extended study at an
establishment of higher educational learning and considers their permanent path as a passion and a
career choice (p.28). Therefore, the career choice of a RN is considered professional. Due to these
circumstances, the RN falls into both of these categories and has met the criteria as professional as

years old at the time. They had no children together, but they raised the two children from from
Martha s previous marriage. As a general, he led many battles in the Revolutionary War. The war had
started because the US was part of England, and the citizens of America were tired of the English
government taxing them unfairly. The people did not think it was fair, because they had to use their
hard earned money on taxes. George played a big part in the war, leading his people into the biggest
battle in the revolution. After the war, he was unanimously voted as first president in 1789 and in
1792. John Adams was named as vice president both times. George Washington preferred to be called

The Anglo Saxon poems, The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and The Wife s Lament
The Old English, or Anglo Saxon, era of England lasted from about 450 1066 A.D. The tribes from
Germany that conquered Britain in the fifth century carried with them both the Old English language
and a detailed poetic tradition. The tradition included alliteration, stressed and unstressed syllables,
but more importantly, the poetry was usually mournful, reflecting on suffering and loss.1These
sorrowful poems from the Anglo Saxon time period are mimetic to the Anglo Saxons themselves; they
reflect the often burdened and miserable lives and times of the people who created them. The Anglo

The comitatus stressed the loyalty of a thane to his chieftain and treated exile and outlawry as the most
tragic lots that could befall one. This secular sense of loss is keen in The Wanderer. 6 Not only is the
loss of a lord evident in The Wanderer, but in The Seafarer and The Wife s Lament as well.
The poem The Wanderer speaks of a man who has been exiled from his clan, and is now forced to
roam the land alone. Separation from his fellow kinsmen and lord seems to be the worst fate
imaginable. The man speaks of his great loss, remembering the time when he was happy with his
liege,
When friendships are no more. His fortune is exile,
Not gifts of fine gold; a heart that is frozen,
Earth s wisomeness dead. And he dreams of the hall men,
The dealing of treasure, the days of his youth,
When his lord bade welcome to wassail and feast.
But gone is that gladness, and never again
Shall come the loved counsel of comrade and king.
(II. 27 34)
The speaker of The Seafarer is also an outcast sailing the sea in solitude, and he speaks similarly of his
exile from his lord and kinsmen: Wretched and anxious, in the paths of exile/ Lacking dear friends,
hung round by icicles. (II. 14 15) He seems to believe that if he has lost his fellow warriors and lord,

Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks
Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina
Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of Remember ,
Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she writes ......Gone far
away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand.... the narrator believes that
death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established regardless of how much one wants
it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death, and when the narrator says that no one will
be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence
of the person. Likewise, Auden s Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden
writes Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the
narrator wants life to cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it
simply cannot (........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and
onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it with
him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s
acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the narrator
s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of grief, the
narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal. ... Show more content

Linda Kerber s Women Of The Republic
LINDA KERBER: WOMEN OF THE REPUBLIC
Name:
(Class Information):
Date:
The ideals by the Republicans which came into the limelight after the Revolutionary War would set
into motion a revolution not just in the United States but in many countries across the world. Linda
Kerber s Women of the Republic is a demonstration of the paradigm shift in relation to the US social
and political structures after the American Revolution. Kerber observes that not only did the war
provide more opportunities to women but also set a platform for women to chart the way forward
politically. This important role is what came later to be known as the Republican Motherhood. The
concept of Republican Motherhood demonstrates the important role that woken played politically in
addition to attending to their traditional roles of domestic responsibility.
Women of the Republic demonstrates the expanded role of women politically amidst the rising
influence of their male counterparts in civic responsibility. Kerber states that the American Revolution
provided a platform for women to express themselves away from ideological ferment that was
premised on the confines of a family set up. This situation might perhaps explain why there were few

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance
Surveillance
One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but
what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a
French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original
physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One
example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600
as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault
believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary
surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct
and behavior are internalized by members of society.
Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance.
Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a
mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals
become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing
them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille.
Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not.
Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing

The Long Term Health Consequences Of Deprived Prenatal...
The long term health consequences of deprived prenatal nutrition are a significant concern on a global
scale. Nutrition, as an environmental factor, plays an important role in stimulating alterations in
various epigenetic processes such as DNA methylation and histone modifications. Specific dietary
stressors can create epigenetic variations to the present lifetime but also to successive generations.
Epidemiological and experimental studies highlight the association between adult health and early life
maternal nutritional stressors such as under nutrition, malnutrition and over nutrition. Gestational
maternal nutrition is a critical intrauterine factor which changes offspring epigenome. Numerous
animal and human model studies reveal that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pregnant mothers require greater energy inputs and when these requirements are sufficient because of
poor diets, long term diseases in offspring develop (Langley Evans, 2006). Fetal developmental
periods are critical to human life as a majority of the epigenetic programming events take place during
this time. Maternal under nutrition during critical periods (fetal programming) is an important
predictor of obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes (Lakshmy, 2013). The
underlying fetal programming hypothesis indicates that during critical periods of fetal development,
changes in the prenatal environment cause the differential expression of genes affecting offspring
phenotype later on (Lakshmy, 2013).The Barker s Early Origins Hypothesis states that unfavourable
fetal growth and poor nutrition may contribute to and increases risk of chronic disease because under
nutrition in prenatal environments alters the fetuses body structure, physiology and metabolism
(Vaiserman, 2014). This concept is present in current North American populations with the growing
obesity epidemic due to excessive carbohydrate and sugar intake during gestation. Understanding the
epigenetic modulation of maternal nutrition on offspring health is essential as chronic disease rates are
increasing in most of the developing and industrialized nations.
The knowledge accumulated through understanding this phenomenon may be important to

Penny Should Be Eliminated Essay
Should the Production and Use of the Penny be Eliminated in the United States?
By Sydni Peters
If you gave Canada a penny for their thought, they d advise you to get rid of the small copper coins. In
fact, Canada, as well as many other countries have already taken action to rid their nation of the need
for their lowest valued currency. Meanwhile, in America, our one cent coins are losing their value
while causing other prices to rise. To discontinue the minting of these coins would mean better prices
and a better economy. Furthermore, pennies cost more than their value to create, leading to more debt
for each impractical coin minted. Despite being a trademark piece of currency, the most opportune
option would be the abandonment of pennies. The United States should eliminate the penny because
they are causing inflation and the results would be extremely beneficial. ... Show more content on

Some may argue that the more practical choice would be to raise prices to make more money.
However, in today s competitive market, many businesses would consider lowering prices to make
their products more desirable. Currently, the government loses millions of dollars to the minting of

Difference Between Marketing Strategies of Physical and...
Slide One: The potential impact, in marketing terms, of the e business unit on the bricks and mortar
university is enormous. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning
has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the
customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend
international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must
bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. In contrast, the e
business element allows for marketing all around the world. The school can develop curriculum for a
number of different countries in order to build local businesses, all through the centralized website. In
addition, the school can train professionals all around the world for careers in the US, Canada, the UK
or other nations. This broadens the pool of potential health care practitioners considerably, something
that benefits all Western nations, most of which face a shortage of qualified health care workers. The
school will adhere to high level standards, so that its degrees are widely recognized. There will also
need to be policies in place that facilitate the learning of students from all over the world, so that the
environment is healthy and supportive for all.
On a practical level, the school can facilitate real time learning by developing features and
mechanisms that

Marketing Of Branding And Marketing
Introduction
Branding and marketing is the most important part in the business. Marketing goods correctly can take
time and a lot of work. If the goods are marketed the wrong way it will affect the brand tremendously.
Marketing works hand to hand with brand, without one another the business wont exist. Branding
gives a great meaning to the business and people remember your business name by branding. This is
why, it is important to have and build a great brand name. You can have a great brand name and
reputation, but it takes only one unhappy customer to ruin you and your brand name. Companies build
brands using memorable names, symbols such as logos and other images and phrases. Catchy slogans,
for instance, sometimes become strongly connected to your brand so that people easily recall the
brand from hearing the slogan (Branding Other Marketing Concepts).

Kevin Roberts and Naomi Klein are new in business and having disagreement in positioning and
building their brand. They make and sell high fashion dress and shoes. They have high end clients
who are willing to pay a lot of money for custom designer clothing. Kevin wants to market and sell
everything for higher price and market only rich people. Naomi wants to market everything affordable
and sell it to middle to high class clients. They are having an argument and can t decide what to do.
They hired me to advise them and help them with their problem.

It works beyond food to cue healthy behavioral changes.
This is the most promising creative direction, and the essence of the direction is captured in Wedding
print (R1).
Wedding print (R1) juxtaposes the cardiac event represented by the EMT tapping the Dad with the
ambulance in the background against the Dad/daughter wedding dance. It conveys the tension what
patients have to lose when they experience a CV event. This is the fulcrum idea in Risk is Real.
Unlike Risk is Real TV, Wedding captures what could happen, not what is happening.
The ambulance and the EMT are symbols of an unexpected event and signal a cardiac event what
could be. Yet unlike the dark figure in Escape, it is not the worst possible outcome (death). Instead, the
ambulance and EMT represent the possibility of surviving the CV event.
The idea creates the most dramatic role for Pathnor preventing true loss. Pathnor becomes key in
circumventing risk so that Patients can experience life s rich milestone moments. Living for these
moments is the carrot.
The idea speaks to both people who have had a CV event, who are ASCVD, and those with unsafe
cholesterol levels.
All ideas conveyed the functional therapeutic benefit of Pathnor.
None of the TV ideas in their current incarnations are as strong as Risk is Real Wedding Print (R1),
which is the most powerful idea. It is the one asset that dramatizes what could happen. Using this

late in the process after all the quantitative information has been analyzed, but their intuition suggests

It helped me to understand that each of these virtues provides balance for the Christian leader, and act
synergistically when all three are applied appropriately. Holiness for the Christian is a single minded

they are in one s personal life. As a leader, I must distribute justice with love and compassion.
Christian ethics are described as the application of Christian values. Leaders, who are Christians,

Sociological Concepts Of Family, Gender, And Identity Essay
This essay discusses the way in which I understand the sociological concepts of family, gender and
race nuclear family, doing gender, and identity, in particular. Arguably, these three concepts can relate
to each individuals life, through different personal experiences. To demonstrate my argument, I
highlight relevant situations in my own life that further explain my chosen sociological concepts.
The first concept I chose to focus on is family. In particular, the idea of the nuclear family .
A nuclear family is defined as: A couple and their dependent children, regarded as a basic social unit.
My research of this concept will focus on the theories of two sociologists George Peter Murdock, and
Talcott Parsons. George Murdock s theory suggests that there are four essential functions of an ideal
family. 1. Stable satisfaction of the sex drive, 2. The biological reproduction of the next generation, 3.
Socialisation of the young, 4. Meeting its members economic needs (Thompson, 2014). According to
Murdock, these four components are what keep the structure of the basic family unit intact, and by
achieving these four functions create an ideal family model. An opposing theory is Talcott Parson s
functional fit theory. Parson suggests that as society evolves, alternative forms of family life become
more accepted. Society has progressed so much that single parents providing for their children is as
normal as a nuclear family, and there tends to be less need for extended

Essay On Why Was The Gettysburg A Turning Point
Why Was Gettysburg Considered a Turning Point in the Civil War?
Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles ever fought in American history. A total of over 46,000
soldiers were lost in this battle. Confederate General Robert E. Lee had beaten a Union force twice the
size of his at the Battle of Chancellorsville earlier that year in the spring of 1863. But soon after this
battle, he went off the radar. This was until rumors began to emerge that he and his army were
marching into Pennsylvania. This caused a major panic. At this time, Union President Abraham
Lincoln appointed General George Meade as head of the Union army. Meade had little time to

Gettysburg. In the second, Lee requests that President Davis supply his place. By this General Lee

Hamlet, The Prince Of Denmark
Hamlet is one of William Shakespeare s most iconic plays about a tragedy. The play begins with
Hamlet mourning the death of his father and ends with a hefty amount of corpses. The cause of the
multiple deaths may be from Hamlet s decisions that formed from questioning that which is unknown
to him. Throughout the Shakespearean play, Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, as well as the audience,
are placed in a constant state of uncertainty. While Hamlet grieves his father s death many things start
to unfold and create questions for the audience and Hamlet to queries such as the existence of his
father s ghost, death and mortality and lastly more for the audience, the mental state of Hamlet
himself. The theme of uncertainty challenges Hamlet in his choices as well as how uncertainty brings
out deeper and more complex thoughts for him to explore. Through the lines that are read and the
visual shown through the actors expressions and wardrobe in the play, we see start see how the
uncertainty changes and morphs into different decisions of how Hamlet chooses to live which
ultimately cause his demise. . The play begins after his father s death and it starts with a tone of fear
this is because Hamlet is left as a broken piece of himself from the loss of his dad all while there is a
ghost roaming the estate. The Ghost is or claims to be of the late King Hamlet or otherwise known as

covers every aspect of managing change, including essential principles, managing stakeholders,
dealing with resisters, building effective change teams and more.
Introduction
Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall
strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very
nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles,
just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often
must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That s why the topic of
organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about business,
organizations, leadership and management.
Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change it s
inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while others
continually struggle and fail. That s often the difference between people who thrive in their roles and
those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they re frustrated
and ineffective.
There are many schools with educational programs about organizations, business, leadership and
management. Unfortunately, there still are not

Robert Nixon was an African American serial killer who confessed to five murders and multiple
assaults in Chicago and Los Angeles from 1936 to 1938. He was born on June 16, 1919, in the small
town Tallulah, Louisiana. The press gave Nixon the nickname Brick Moron after he confessed to the
brick bat murders (Arney). Edna Worden, her 12 year old daughter, Rose Valdez, Elizabeth Rice, and
Zoe Damrell were a few of his many victims. After Nixon was arrested, he was sentenced to death and
electrocuted on June 15, 1939 (Patillo).

These stories worsened racial tensions in Chicago, and the murder and resulting press frightened the
white residents of the area, triggering white flight from the once elite areas that now bordered black
districts (Patillo). Nixon initially denied having any connection with the killings, but the Los Angeles
Police s fingerprint evidence proved him wrong. During his trial, he eventually confessed to raping
and murdering Anna Kuchta in 1937 and assaulting at least seventeen other women. However, he
blamed his accomplice, Earl Hicks, for the murder of Johnson during his trial. Hicks, who was also
under arrest, put the blame for Johnson s murder solely on Nixon. Nixon s defense that his accomplice
had killed the woman failed, and the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that they both were equally
responsible for this murder. Nixon was convicted of the murder and was executed in the electric chair
at the Cook County Jail in 1939 (Arney).
When Richard Wright completed his draft of Native Son, Robert Nixon was charged with murdering a
woman by beating her with a brick. In his essay, How Bigger Was Born , Wright admitted to copying
details from press stories of the Robert Nixon case. By mixing his own insight into the urban slum
experience of African Americans, Wright created the disturbing portrait of Bigger Thomas, who

The Large Bathers Essay
Paul Cézanne was an Impressionist painter that helped bridge the gap between Impressionism and
Cubism. Both Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso said he was The father to us all .(Paul Cézanne, 2016)
Both artists took inspiration from the Cézanne s painting The Large Bathers and made paintings of
their own from the ideas Cézanne started.
The Large Bathers show us a scene of women bathing in a river. The colors we see are mostly blue
with some browns and greens mixed in. It s thought that this painting was unfinished as Cézanne died
in 1906, and you can see some of the figures in the bottom right seem incomplete. Matisse took the
idea of bathing women but added his own signature color schemes. In Bonheur de Vivre he used

African American Stereotypes In Fences
People are natural evaluators of everything they come across, and they attempt to acquire insights as
they evaluate other people. Stereotypes are the beliefs that people hold concerning other human
groups after gaining insights about them. Racial stereotypes have been common among African
Americans and the whites. In the 20th century, African Americans were stereotyped as contaminated
and dirty by the whites; maybe because of the insufficient income they are said to earn. The whites
also associate African Americans with substance use. Additionally, the Sambo stereotype associates
the black community with slavery and simple mindedness. Up to the current times, movies and other
forms of art and literature portray stereotype themes. These stereotypes have shaped the attitudes of
the two groups towards each other since the beginning of the American history. In his play Fences,

Stand up or Don t stand at all
In a human s lifetime someone has to stand up for what they believe in, in order to make a difference.
The Greek play Antigone, by Sophocles takes place in the city of Thebes and is about two sisters,
Ismene and Antigone, reacting to the deaths of their two brothers. Ismene and Antigone s two brothers
were at war on opposites sides of a civil war. They ended up killing each other in combat. Since the
brothers, who were supposed to be the next kings of Thebes, were dead, the throne was passed to their
uncle Creon. Creon, considering Polyneices a traitor, decides that he will only honor the brother
Eteocles. This infuriates Antigone, who decides she will honor Polyneices by burying him, despite the
law made against it. In the first scene Antigone takes her sister Ismene outside to the private gates to

Business Strategy Towards Global Education
Missteps in Problem Definition have Broad Impacts Pearson is a large multinational company based
out of London. Pearson began as a building contracting company, and over its 150 year history, has
transformed itself into a publishing company in the early twentieth century, and has now shifted focus
towards education (Pearson, n.d.). Pearson employs approximately forty thousand employees with one
third located in emerging markets (SEC, 2015). The company officially shifted the corporate strategy
towards global education and by streamlining technology in 2013 (Radjou Pradhu, 2013; Pearson,
n.d.a). In 2012, Tim Bozik, the president of the higher education division, began consolidating
duplicative groups within higher education ahead of the broader organization beginning its technology
consolidation strategy; these assets were the result of multiple acquisitions. At the time, higher
education had technology divisions scattered across the United States, India and Sri Lanka. The
technology leaders were asked to solve the problem of removing duplicative technology assets, and
smartly execute the existing technology budget to further higher education s goals. This paper reviews
the decision making process the 2012 technology leadership team used to merge technology
organizations together into one group, what components of the problem solving process were skipped
and how this impacted the outcome, as well as how the problem solving process could have gone with

The Importance Of The Environmental Justice Act Of 2016
I urge you to support the Environmental Justice Act of 2017 that requires the commitment of federal
agencies with environmental justice to eliminate the environmental disparity for communities most
affected. Minority and low income communities often suffer a disproportionate share of
environmental costs that may lead to detrimental health outcomes. As a college student in Boston, my
name is Ashley Chin and I support the Environmental Justice Act of 2017 . Access to quality
healthcare, environment, and income levels are important factors in an individual s health. Toxic waste
dumps are often located in poor communities where regulating governing toxics are weak or
nonexistent. This act will help greatly help the population affected by ... Show more content on

As of 2014, the highest rates of adult and childhood asthma in the United States are experienced by
7.8% of the population in California, which is roughly 2,279,568 individuals. The rate of asthma
sufferers in Southeast California is especially alarming, where roughly a quarter of the residents in
Imperial County and the Salton Sea communities live in poverty. According to state public health
figures in 2015, roughly 12,000 children have been diagnosed with a chronic respiratory illness. This
toxic air pollution mix of automobile exhaust, heavy winds, use of pesticides from commercial farms,
and the area s desert heat will worsen when the Drought Contingency Plan (DCP) reduces diversions
from the Colorado River to California, Arizona, and Nevada, blocking a large portion of the Colorado
River water that flows into the Salton Sea and causing an innumerable amount of economical issues.
This legislation will empower the population in Southeastern California to engage and take action to
protect their homes, schools, and neighborhoods. Woking in solidarity, the Environmental Justice Act
of 2017 will give people a voice in meaningful discussion about environmental health issues to make
an impactful change. The Environmental Justice Act of 2017 specifically points out the injustice of
environmental impacts under the

Petruchio Changes In The Taming Of The Shrew In William Shakespeare s comical play The Taming of the Shrew, Petruchio marries Kate for her enormous dowry and tames her shrewishness and bad temper despite being an aggressively assertive woman. The play focuses on Petruchio s controlling nature over Kate, treating her poorly in front of others. At first, Petruchio makes his peers believe that he is a respectful man, but as the play progresses, this thought flips. Petruchio s counterfeit persona differs from his intentions and continues on until the reader notices the changes because of the characters Petruchio affects. Either as being a procedure of treating wounds of the heart and soul (past) or as an alternative remedy for a variety of physical health situations. Some years ago hypnosis was a privilege of an elite of people who understood how to practice the secrets and techniques of the art. They had the right information. Of course, they chose to keep the precious info away from the masses. As a hypnosis specialist for more than 10 years now, I feel I am able to write a little something useful, especially for those who haven t yet dived in the magical realm of hypnosis! So, in this article I will try to clear the field for you and tell you exactly what you will need to have to emerge as a real hypnotist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Did you know you possessed certain psychic talents? Qualities provided to you from your creator before you were given birth to! As you arrived on our planet however (as a new child), you forgot all about it. This loss of memory effect was constantly enhanced as you brought up with bogus and restrictive beliefs. Okay! It s definitely not your fault. But it surely will be, if you do nothing at all about it now that you know what went down. So, with hypnosis it is possible to uncover all those impressive psychic (paranormal should you prefer) abilities of yours. Might be remedial powers or intuitive skills and so on, you are a specialist in a certain field without being aware of it most of the times. But you can uncover the whole real truth! This is how hypnosis can certainly help BUT you must initially confirm to yourself that you really possess those abilities. And you are not the only human being on the earth with those advantages! So keep confirming and having faith and you will be led to where you wish to be (having all the right information in your hands)... And that s all to get started with Hypnosis! But before I leave you I wish to provide you with one final word of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mesmer Magnetism Essay According to German physician, Franz Anton Mesmer, the entire universe is connected by an invisible thing know as animal magnetism. Mesmer believed that the entire human body was filled with this magnetism and that it was carried through the body in a constant flow. Illnesses occur as the result of the flow of magnetism becoming blocked off. Mesmer was able to cure his patients through several appointments. Soon, high powered, influential members of society began to investigate Mesmer s practices, this committee was called the Royal Commission. In order for Mesmer to cure his patients he would sit opposite of them and would touch their finger and knees, he would also look into the afflicted person s eyes (typically unmarried, rich, young ladies). After several appointments with Mesmer the patients would experience a crisis and would be miraculously cured. Mesmer first started curing his patients in one on one appointments, but soon he began to train others in this art, these male understudies of Mesmer were called adepts. With the help of these adepts Mesmer was able to cure more people at once. Mesmer, who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The adept never got to the tree that was actually filled with magnetism, they collapsed onto the ground and suffered a crisis. Another test was conducted with a woman. • 5. The Fundamental Concepts Of Statistics Question 5 This paper will provide a sample of the fundamental concepts in statistics. During research there is usually variance between individuals within a group or between different groups. During hypothesis testing the researcher wants to know if the sample of data collected is truly representative of the entire population. Null hypothesis testing is concerned with the correlation or differences in means (continuous data) between groups. The null hypothesis works on the premise that there is no difference between two groups such as males and females who respond to a set of items (independent sample T test). The null hypothesis can also be described as the hypothesized mean being equal to the population mean. So the null hypothesis is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas, if I fail to reject the null, because I believe the groups are the same when, in fact, they are different this is a type 2 error. In its simplest terms, Type I error is the incorrect rejection of the null hypothesis, whereas Type II is the incorrect acceptance of the null hypothesis. Related to hypothesis testing is the Significance level or cut off point (alpha). The P or the probability value is one of the indicators that can be used to test the null hypothesis. Usually a significance level = .05 (95% confidence interval) or lower is the accepted rule for rejecting the null hypothesis. This means that we will accept up to 5% of type 1 error. Also, P 0.01 sometimes is referred to as statistically highly significant. If the p value is .05, then we would reject the null hypothesis. Visually, on a bell curve (two tailed test) this can be presented as the critical region or how far our sample statistic is from the null hypothesis. In relation to P values there is the confidence interval (or bound). A 0.05 level of significance would be centered on a 95% confidence interval. If our given value sits outside the bound we would reject the null. However, if our value sits within the interval we would not reject the null hypothesis. Another concern during research is the issue of sampling error due to only a portion of the population being used during a study. Even when bias is reduced by random sampling the ... In fact, Beowulf deserves a name like that, a man who dares to against the vicious side without fear and dares to die. Throughout three battles, he never holds back before the peril, and to do everything in his power during the fight either enemy or fellow. In the initial fight with Grendel, he is unarmed and in one on one combat, eventually, he tears Grendel s arm apart and bring the head as trophy of triumph. The second battle is with Grendel s mother, one with full of hatred to Beowulf, they fight under the water for a long time; incredibly, Beowulf won and killed Grendel s mother. The third fight with the dragon, no matter how weak Beowulf is, even his braveness support him to hit dragon mortally, unfortunately he is injured and betrayed by the warriors he trusted. (A few ribonucleoprotein enzymes have been discovered and, for some of these, the catalytic activity is in the RNA part rather than the protein part. Link to discussion of these ribozymes.) Enzymes bind temporarily to one or more of the reactants of the reaction they catalyze. In doing so, they lower the amount of activation energy needed and thus speed up the reaction. Most of these interactions are weak and especially so if the atoms involved are farther than about one angstrom from each other. So successful binding of enzyme and substrate ... But there is no oxidation so no speedy release of products. The inhibition is called competitive because if you increase the ratio of succinic to malonic acid in the mixture, you will gradually restore the rate of catalysis. At a 50:1 ratio, the two molecules compete on roughly equal terms for the binding (=catalytic) site on the enzyme. Factors Affecting Enzyme Action [IMAGE]The activity of enzymes is strongly affected by changes in pH and temperature. Each enzyme works best at a certain pH (left graph) and temperature (right graph), its activity decreasing at values above and below that point. This is not surprising considering the importance of * tertiary structure (i.e. shape) in enzyme function and * noncovalent forces, e.g., ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds, in determining that shape. Examples: * the protease pepsin works best as a pH of 1 2 (found in the stomach) while * the protease trypsin is inactive at such a low pH but very active at a pH of 8 (found in the small intestine as the bicarbonate of the pancreatic fluid neutralizes the arriving stomach contents). • 10. The Debate Of Marriage And Pure Relationships Throughout the centuries, America has shifted to the influx of culture. To accommodate to the change, terms, values, and beliefs have had to be modified. One of the many value modifications time has undergone, is the importance of marriage. One sociologist at John Hopkins University, Andrew J. Cherlin, says, that since the 1900s the socially accepted meaning of marriage and pure relationships has sequentially been altered to what it is today. Marriage has shifted from a pure, companionate relationship into more of an individualized, optional one. In order to understand the extent and reason for the transition, it is important to understand marriage as it was, as it is now, and then how that has affected the concept of sexuality. Genesis 2:18 states, it is not good that man should be alone: I will make him a helper comparable to him. This verse tends to be used in every marriage based debate, to the point that it becomes very cliché, however, if one were to study it its truth would be evident. Kay Daigle, Founder of Beyond Ordinary Woman Ministries wrote in an excerpt called God s Design for Sexual Intimacy, Marriage is God s design and institution. God created it for relationship, close companionship and mutual support. Marriage, as a sacred vow, was designed for the coming together of one man and one woman. Human beings were not created for isolation or loneliness. This is evident in every day life, with how people are always looking for ways to be accepted. All ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Comparison Between Remember And Stop All Of The Clocks Each individual has a unique way of coping with death, and this is evident throughout Christina Rossetti s, Remember and W. H. Auden s Stop all of the Clocks . In the first stanza of Remember , Rossetti allows the reader to explore the narrator s thought about death. When she writes ......Gone far away into the silent land;/ When you can no more hold me by the hand.... the narrator believes that death is final because that connection cannot ever be re established regardless of how much one wants it. The silent land and gone away are metaphors for death, and when the narrator says that no one will be able to hold me (her) by the hand , this symbolises the one thing death takes, the physical presence of the person. Likewise, Auden s Stop all of the Clocks , explores death with imperatives. Auden writes Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,/ Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,/ Silence the pianos and with muffled drum/Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Because the narrator wants life to cease, because with the death of their loved one, there is no purpose in life and it simply cannot (........) . Similarly, as Stop all of the Clocks develops the narrator metaphorically and onomatopoeically highlights that everything in life must acknowledge the death and experience it with him. Outward signs of cotton gloves and bows with doves is a metaphor for the person s acknowledgement of death. The importance of the deceased love extends to every facet of the narrator s life because they belonged in every moment that the narrator lived. In this moment of grief, the narrator feels betrayed because they invested in a love which was not eternal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Linda Kerber s Women of the Republic is a demonstration of the paradigm shift in relation to the US social and political structures after the American Revolution. Kerber observes that not only did the war provide more opportunities to women but also set a platform for women to chart the way forward politically. This important role is what came later to be known as the Republican Motherhood. The concept of Republican Motherhood demonstrates the important role that woken played politically in addition to attending to their traditional roles of domestic responsibility. Women of the Republic demonstrates the expanded role of women politically amidst the rising influence of their male counterparts in civic responsibility. Kerber states that the American Revolution provided a platform for women to express themselves away from ideological ferment that was premised on the confines of a family set up. • 21. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance Surveillance One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600 as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct and behavior are internalized by members of society. Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance. Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille. Pregnant mothers require greater energy inputs and when these requirements are sufficient because of poor diets, long term diseases in offspring develop (Langley Evans, 2006). Fetal developmental periods are critical to human life as a majority of the epigenetic programming events take place during this time. Maternal under nutrition during critical periods (fetal programming) is an important predictor of obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes (Lakshmy, 2013). The underlying fetal programming hypothesis indicates that during critical periods of fetal development, changes in the prenatal environment cause the differential expression of genes affecting offspring phenotype later on (Lakshmy, 2013).The Barker s Early Origins Hypothesis states that unfavourable fetal growth and poor nutrition may contribute to and increases risk of chronic disease because under nutrition in prenatal environments alters the fetuses body structure, physiology and metabolism (Vaiserman, 2014). This concept is present in current North American populations with the growing obesity epidemic due to excessive carbohydrate and sugar intake during gestation. Oblinger (2001) has argued that, for a number of reasons, distance learning has the potential to develop a truly global university. The exchanges between the business and the customer are streamlined by the lack of physical barriers, and this can allow the school to transcend international borders. The current physical school can only market within the United States, and must bring students to the school physically. This limits the growth potential of the school. My research of this concept will focus on the theories of two sociologists George Peter Murdock, and Talcott Parsons. George Murdock s theory suggests that there are four essential functions of an ideal family. 1. Stable satisfaction of the sex drive, 2. The biological reproduction of the next generation, 3. Socialisation of the young, 4. Meeting its members economic needs (Thompson, 2014). According to Murdock, these four components are what keep the structure of the basic family unit intact, and by achieving these four functions create an ideal family model. An opposing theory is Talcott Parson s functional fit theory. Parson suggests that as society evolves, alternative forms of family life become more accepted. Society has progressed so much that single parents providing for their children is as normal as a nuclear family, and there tends to be less need for extended ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Essay On Why Was The Gettysburg A Turning Point Why Was Gettysburg Considered a Turning Point in the Civil War? Gettysburg was one of the bloodiest battles ever fought in American history. A total of over 46,000 soldiers were lost in this battle. Confederate General Robert E. Lee had beaten a Union force twice the size of his at the Battle of Chancellorsville earlier that year in the spring of 1863. But soon after this battle, he went off the radar. This was until rumors began to emerge that he and his army were marching into Pennsylvania. This caused a major panic. At this time, Union President Abraham Lincoln appointed General George Meade as head of the Union army. Meade had little time to prepare, as it was June 27th, just four days from the battle (he did not know this.) The Union Army had been forced to march for the last two ... Introduction Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles, just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they often must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That s why the topic of organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about business, organizations, leadership and management. Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change it s inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while others continually struggle and fail. That s often the difference between people who thrive in their roles and those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they re frustrated and ineffective. Robert Nixon was an African American serial killer who confessed to five murders and multiple assaults in Chicago and Los Angeles from 1936 to 1938. He was born on June 16, 1919, in the small town Tallulah, Louisiana. The press gave Nixon the nickname Brick Moron after he confessed to the brick bat murders (Arney). Edna Worden, her 12 year old daughter, Rose Valdez, Elizabeth Rice, and Zoe Damrell were a few of his many victims. After Nixon was arrested, he was sentenced to death and electrocuted on June 15, 1939 (Patillo). These stories worsened racial tensions in Chicago, and the murder and resulting press frightened the white residents of the area, triggering white flight from the once elite areas that now bordered black districts (Patillo). Nixon initially denied having any connection with the killings, but the Los Angeles Police s fingerprint evidence proved him wrong. During his trial, he eventually confessed to raping and murdering Anna Kuchta in 1937 and assaulting at least seventeen other women. However, he blamed his accomplice, Earl Hicks, for the murder of Johnson during his trial. Hicks, who was also under arrest, put the blame for Johnson s murder solely on Nixon. Nixon s defense that his accomplice had killed the woman failed, and the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that they both were equally responsible for this murder. Nixon was convicted of the murder and was executed in the electric chair at the Cook County Jail in 1939 (Arney). When Richard Wright completed his draft of Native Son, Robert Nixon was charged with murdering a woman by beating her with a brick. Stereotypes are the beliefs that people hold concerning other human groups after gaining insights about them. Racial stereotypes have been common among African Americans and the whites. In the 20th century, African Americans were stereotyped as contaminated and dirty by the whites; maybe because of the insufficient income they are said to earn. The whites also associate African Americans with substance use. Additionally, the Sambo stereotype associates the black community with slavery and simple mindedness.
