2. Our Chosen Song
We chose Confident by demi lovato because we felt that it would help connect with
our target audience because our research shows that people want an artist that they
can relate to and since it has a female singer it matches our surveys that most people
want to see a female artist or main role. We also like that the song is not a love song
because there is so many love songs that it would make our music video unique and so
more people may be inclined to watch it.
3. location
For our music video we would like to use 3 main locations and it is unlikely but unsure
that we will use any other locations. We want to develop our artists image to match
her surroundings so when she's in the basketball court (1) she's sporty, determined but
when she's in the alleyway (2) she's rebellious and angry but in the woods (3) she's
carefree and happy because we feel it helps relate to the audience because
stereotypically teenagers are known to be full of life or emotions with mood swings so
it shows this by different emotions in different scenes. It also sets the mood for the
scene and provides interest as it is not all the same.
4. Location - Alleyway
During some cuts of the video we have chosen for the lead
artist to be walking down a common allyway. We have
chosen this because we would like to give the perception of
danger as they are commonly associated with crime, so
with her walking down it she looks dangerous. This space
is also confined which can show that she is trapped which
could be a metaphor for being trapped in her gender roles
and what is seen for her so she is angry and trying to break
free.
5. Location N:2 Ruislip Woods
We plan on using the Ruislip Woods as an area
where she can sing or rock out throughout the song
where we will cut to at several points throughout
the video. We are thinking of doing it at late
evening/night as well as day to show a variation of
lighting to show a variation of moods which the
female lead is going through and we also think it
would enhance the visual effect. Another reason
why we have chosen this location is because it is
isolated so it can show the side of the artist as she is
‘letting loose’ and being free.
6. Location N:3 Basketball court
We plan on using the basketball court as the
narrative of our story since it's based around a girls
vs boys competition and we have decided that we
will have a montage of her winning and different
things one of them being basketball. The music
video would have multiple cuts to different scenes in
the court. (main artist losing at start but then
winning at end). In the other places it is for
performance but this is the main area in the music
video and it would contain the narrative.
7. Location N:4 Arcade
We plan on using the Arcade as a significant portion
of our narrative of our story since it's based around a
girls vs boys competition. The music video would
have multiple cuts to different scenes arcade. We
would have them play multiple games and clearly
she wins at everything.
8. Clothing
We want the main clothing to be sort of normal and regular and simple such as jeans
and a t shirt. This is because it is relatable and makes her seem normal and not special
so again the audience can relate to her. We would also be using other clothing as
stereotypes of the guy who's in it and her in rebellious clothing as people see young
people as rebellious and guys as sporty so the guys would be dressed in sports clothing.
9. Typical Jeans
Jeans are pretty much a
signature piece of clothing for
young people and so seeing
that the artist is just like the
viewers it may attract that
audience. It also matches the
storyline of her being a
normal girl dealing with
normal scenarios and feelings
10. T Shirt
T shirts are quite common with
young people and they tend to
represent them on their free time
because they wouldn’t wear
tshirts at work so it helps
construct the feeling that it’s her
free time which young people
spend a’lot of. It also makes her
seem normal and not unique so
therefore is relatable to the
audience
11. Shoes
Converse Trainers boots
She would use these in the
woods show sort of her fun
side and the converse are
known for social time use
She would use these in the
basketball court as they are
known to be used for
exercise or sports use
She would use these in the
scenes of her in the alleyway
because she would be
wearing rebellious clothing
then
13. Make Up
Ally Way Competition Woods
As Crystal is acting angry in this
scene she will be wearing dark and
bold make up. Thick eyeliner with a
big flick and dark bold lipstick
would give her this angry look.
Crystal is playing sport in this
scene so she would be wearing
more natural makeup, a neutral
lipstick and basic mascara and thin
eyeliner.
She will be given a party more
vibrant colourful look in this scene,
colourful and glittery eye
shadow/dust, eyelash diamonds
and thick eyeliner.
14. Hair
Ally Way Competition Woods
In this scene she will have big
messy dark hair, this gives the
impression that she does not care
and could make her look angry.
During the competition scene Crystal
will have a tight pony tail as she is
being sporty so this is the most
efficient and relates to the scene.
During the woods scene she will
have messy hair so it looks like she
does not care and is breaking free
which relates to the overall
look/feel of the scene.
15. The Second Character ‘the Rival’
The second character is a rival of the main character. They are not necessarily enemies
or have a love interest (like Ex or anything) but they have a competitive feeling around
each other and the song is based around Crystal trying to win the basketball game
against the unbeatable rival. He would overexaggerated his preparation scenes and his
winning/losing scenes
