Multi-level marketing (MLM) involves multiple levels of salespeople who recruit others and receive commissions from their sales and the sales of those they recruit. In an MLM company, sales representatives recruit others rather than just making their own sales. This allows for rapid expansion as more sales representatives are trained. It also allows sales representatives to earn commissions not just from their own sales but from the sales of those they recruit. While MLM can provide benefits like continuous expansion and low overhead costs, it also faces criticisms like inability to fulfill promises to most participants and potential exploitation of personal relationships.
