The session was called ‘SickKids VS Apathy: a deep dive on the success of a groundbreaking healthcare campaign, what worked and what didn’t‘.
The SickKids VS brand platform has garnered international awards for groundbreaking creative. Lori and Daniel’s session dug deep into the results of the campaign – what worked well, what didn’t, and some of the key learnings taken away by the strategic leadership on both the client and agency side of the project.
Fiona was so inspired by this session that she took the opportunity to share what she had learned with the audience at Raw London’s event, Your Best Content Campaign, on Thursday 15 November 2018.

NCET Biz Bite | Mikalee Byerman, Train Your Brain for Success | Sept 2019Archersan
How many times have you entertained this thought: If only I were smarter or more talented, I could be more successful. And if I were more successful, I’d be so much happier.
But guess what? Research shows that only 25% of job success is based on IQ. An overwhelming 75 percent of job success is predicted by your sense of optimism, social support and your ability to see stress as a challenge instead of a threat.
The takeaway: It’s time to reframe our ideas about “achieving success.” What if happiness isn’t a byproduct of success, but instead, success is a byproduct of happiness? And what if you can program yourself to be more successful by tweaking something fairly simple — your personal sense of positivity?

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

A philosophy… the four tenets to create a conscious business.
An organization…
Conscious Capitalism: A movement aimed at freeing the heroic spirit of entrepreneurship
CCI: A non profit organization focused on changing the way business is practiced and perceived globally
CCNNV: Part of a global chapter network. Our purpose is to advance the understanding and practice of CC in NNV. We’re creating a local community of conscious capitalists, we’re providing education and we’re connecting people with resources to help them practice CC.
1984: R. Edward Freeman publishes Strategic Management: A stakeholder approach
2005: FLOW is founded by John Mackey and Michael Strong to “Liberate the entrepreneurial spirit for good.” Includes 3 projects – 1 being CC
2007: Raj Sisodia and David Wolfe publish Firms of Endearment and John Mackey publishes a white paper “Conscious Capitalism: Creating a New Paradigm for Business”, first gathering of thought leaders to discuss growing this movement
2010: FLOW projects are split into separate entities – Conscious Capitalism, Inc. is born
2012: John Mackey and Raj Sisodia publish “Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business”. First chapter launches in Australia.
2016: CCNNV launches
Today: 24 chapters in the US, 12 international chapters – including: Australia/new zealand, brazil, Cananda, chile, mexico, costa rica, Denmark, germany, israel, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom
Strongest in asia pacific 64%, latin america 63%, and africa 63%
North america 42% and europe 40%
A call to adventure…. What if we changed the narrative of business? What if we changed the way business is practiced? What if we changed the way business is perceived?
First by sharing the conscious capitalist credo… if that resonates… then
By introducing individuals and leaders to the tenets of conscious capitalism
Then by helping them intregrate these principles into their role, the way they lead, and the way their business operates
Introduce 12 steps
Higher purpose is your company’s reason for existence apart from profit. It’s a definitive statement about the difference you’re trying to make.
Ask: What’s the benefit of having a higher purpose?
Glue that holds org together
Magnet that attracts the right people
Reduces friction within org. and its ecosystem
Gives energy and relevance to org and people
Feel good about what youre doing and why you’re investing time, energy and money
Greater levels of creativity, collaboration, diligence, etc.
Without it:
Lost identity
Process over purpose – people fee like cogs in the machine.
Simon Sinek, Author – Start With Why and Leaders Eat Last
Stakeholder Integration – it’s a way of thinking. A mindset.
Orientation of stakeholder versus shareholder – focusing on the good of the system
It’s taking a long-term versus short-term view
It’s relational instead of transactional
Primary stakeholders 5-7/ secondary handful
Primary are almost always customers, employees, shareholders/investors (if applicable)
Maybe environment, suppliers, vendors – depending on business
Others: Community, government, etc.
