2. Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history of
Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the
Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an
empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being
said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World
War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the
Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t
mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you
that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about mountains are that many
peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at
16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. Another very interesting thing about
Turkey is the people and their lifestyles, you may not know but turkish lives are far from the same as

3. Frq On Personality Analysis
Personality FRQ 1. Psychoanalytic According to Freud, I have an oral fixation that troubles my
personality. This is due to the fact that I have a nervous habit of biting my nails and enjoy chewing
gum. Freud theorized that the way I was breast fed as a baby caused this fixation because I was either
not fed enough, was fed to much, or not breastfed at all. Ultimately, due to me having an issue when I
was breastfed now causes me to be orally fixated and is the driving force behind me biting my nails
and chewing gum. 2. Neo Freudians According to Erik Erikson s Stage Theory, I am currently in the
Adolescence stage of my personality. This is due to me being in the age gap, I am 17 and the age gap
is 12 19, and me trying to truly understand myself. Because of the point in time of my life, I am still
trying to find who I am and this is a key characteristic of being in the adolescent stage. This seen
through the conflicts faced at this time, which is identity vs role confusion, and because I am still
trying to identify myself, I must be in the Adolescent Stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

4. Compare And Contrast Midsummer Night s Dream Movie And Play
Michael Hoffman s 1999 film version of Shakespeare s midsummer night s dream was able to modify
the audience experience of the play. Michael Hoffman had successfully turned the play into a film and
was able to show a visible expression of the characters to the audience. He had also made some
changes, like the settings and made his version modernized. Though the film was based on the
Shakespeare s play, the audience s experience is still different. The differences are the following: First,
in the play, you can see the emotions, feelings and expressions of the characters in the film. Since
Shakespeare s play is written between 1590 and 1597, the English language used was deep and hard to
understand for the present people. But with the character s action and delivery, the viewers were able
to understand it easily. Titania, who is played by Michelle Pfeiffer, said ... Show more content on

6. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe
In this poem, the speaker is distraught over the death of his love, Lenore. He tries to ease his pain by
distracting himself with a book of poems; The Forgotten Lore but is interrupted by a tapping at [his]
chamber door (5) and finds darkness there and nothing more. (24) He was visited one night in his
bedroom by a raven that only knows the word Nevermore. However, the gentleman is unaware of the
bird s limited vocabulary and proceeds to beg and plead with the bird to answer his questions about
Lenore and her death, but the bird continues to respond one way. Being so grief stricken over the loss
of his love, the narrator takes the bird as a prophet, and is convinced by the end of the poem that he
will never again see or hold Lenore even in the afterlife. Through this poem, Poe uses symbolism,
imagery and tone, as well as a variety of poetic elements to enforce his theme of sadness and death of
the one he loved. Poe uses imagery and symbols to epitomize his poem. Two central images for the
focus of this poem are light and darkness, creating two different worlds. For example, Poe uses
Lenore, his love to exemplify this image of light by referring to her as the rare and radiant maiden
whom the angels name Lenore, (11) as well as those angels she has now joined. Another image of
light would be the lamplight the narrator uses to light his chamber, his sanctuary from the darkness of
the outside. To portray this other world filled with sadness and despair the author

something finally went wrong, a huge black cloud covered the moon. I soon heard the thunder. It
seemed to be nothing to worry about, so I didn t acknowledge it. A few hours later the thunder grew
louder and I could see the flashes of lightning headed our way. I went inside to inform my parents of

very strict on enforcing regulations, and as they can vary slightly from state to state, it s worthwhile
doing your research before you get on the plane. The following are some of the regulations to consider

whether you ll easily and quickly adapt to life out there. Whilst it is recommended to obtain a job and

17. Thesis Statement On Gun Control
Over the course of the fall semester, I intend to develop a strong, yet demanding, argument that
supports my ideas and efforts to make a long lasting affect on the residents living in Saint Louis. My
advocacy project consists of informing the Saint Louis Mayor, Lyda Krewson, on issues pertaining to
gun control in the St.Louis metro area and eventually persuade her to look into designing more
efficient background checking systems for individuals wanting to bear arms.
I have been living in the Saint Louis area for seventeen years, and I have witnessed the consequences
caused by the loose regulation of guns. Many guns, including military grade weapons, have been
circulating into the wrong hands of individuals in the region. Because of this, the crime rate in the
Saint Louis area has been on the rise as well. As a St.Louis resident, I am often informed of the harsh
results related to gun violence; News stations throughout the region report the jarring records of deaths
and other injuries related to firearms. As months progress, I started to realize that my city was making
a turn for the worst. Gun control, being a relevant social issue in St.Louis, was affecting not just the
victims, but the families, friends, and the overall communities. I started to ponder why my hometown
was having such a massive issue over guns. Although I have not been personally affected by gun
violence, I do not want to become a bystander to these casualties.Rather, I desire to improve this issue

In Akira Kurosawa s movie Yojimbo the time, characters are inspired by the Japanese History. Like
the story happening after the collapse of the Tokugawa Era. However there are several indication that
some of the techniques used were based from Western films and its style and technique. During the
first part of the movie where Sanjuro came to the deserted village that is somewhat abandoned by the
Japanese Government, in actuality it is more like a ghost town. It showed a classic western wild west
setting where a stranger passes by the empty town while the wind is blowing the leaves and dust. The

of situation whether it is from their history or they experience it themselves. The constant fear of
fights broking out and the villagers being affected by it. The westerns adapting the Yojimbo showed
that they themselves have this kind of history in the past, where the government have abandoned the
town and the local police cannot do anything to stop these abusive gangs, whether it is only one gang
or two. Another theme is these gangs have slaves which is also a universal theme that many people
have learned that this kind of oppression and abuse is shown in history books. Lastly another
important theme that have been adapted and is still being adapted by many movies is having a hero
that despises the weak and is somewhat selfish, opportunistic and manipulative. But in the end these
character have a soft spot like what is seen in the Yojimbo . Even though there are variation on this
kind of theme, the main focus here is that there is a hero that will come and save a village or town
from bad things or people such as gangs. The fact that these themes are very powerful and many

formation, and because he had a smart army, but also many times he got lucky and won the war. When
he went to go start a war with the russians there didn t pay attention to him. The Russians were
focused on the prussia, and the australians were mostly focused on the Silesia. Prussia survived the

21. Introduction Of Polonius In Hamlet
The introduction of Polonius in Hamlet is one of an elderly chief counselor to the king of Denmark,
but as his character develops, we see him evolve into a manipulator who worries about his self image
and how his family might jeopardize that; one would say Polonius fears being a simple man and will
sacrifice anything for status. As more events develop throughout the play Polonius turns into this
ruthless politician that won t stop at anything in order to manipulate and keep his status in the
kingdom; Polonius as the brilliant mastermind that he is, is always on the prowl for any information
he can get his hands on; he sleeps with one eye open and an ear on the ground. Polonius uses all this
information at the right moments to create his narrative.
Polonius is cleric who worries about his son Laertes s possible behavior, and how his son s behavior
might reflect bad on him. In previous acts Polonius gives Laertes sound advice so he doesn t go
embarrassed himself when he gets to France. Polonius worries about his son s behavior and is
intrigued to find out what he is up to. He calls to his servant Reynaldo and sets him with a task; to
inquire on his son s behavior before meeting him. In act II is clear that Polonius worries about one
thing only, and that s the reputation his son might be getting in France: inquire me first what Danskers
are in Paris, /and how, what means, and where they /keep, / what company, at what expense; and

22. What Is Mary Warren A Dynamic Character
Miller shows the greatest change in Mary Warren in order to show that good hearted people can still
cause trouble when they re ambivalent. Mary Warren was influenced by many people and many of her
own fears, causing her to change her mind a lot, which made her a dynamic character. Mary Warren is
a good person but she changes her mind too much which can cause chaos. In the beginning of the
book, Mary was hesitant to be involved with Abigail and the other girls: They ll be calling us witches
(Miller,17). But that soon wears off and Mary is quick to accuse the people of Salem of witch craft,
along with the other girls. John Proctor catches on to the the girls scheme and forces Mary to confess
in court. In court Mary seems as though she is willing to repent, she wants to be good again. But when
the court doesnt believe her and the girls decided to turn against her, she panicked and turned on John:
You re the devils man! (Miller,110). So, Mary wants to be good but she also doesnt want to be hanged,
this is why she changes her mind so much. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Basic Order Picking In the most basic order picking method, product is stored in fixed locations on
static shelving or pallet rack. An order picker picks one order at a time following a route up and down
each aisle until the entire order is picked. The order picker will usually use some type of picking cart.
The design of the picking flow should be such that the order picker ends up fairly close to the original
starting point. The picking document should have the picks sorted in the same sequence as the picking
flow. Fast moving product should be stored close to the main cross aisle and additional cross aisles put
in to allow short cuts. Larger bulkier items would be stored towards the end of the pick flow. This
basic order picking method can work well in operations with a small total number of orders and a high
number of picks per order. Operations with low picks per order will find the travel time excessive in
this type of picking and operations with large numbers of orders will find that the congestion from
many pickers working in the same areas slows down the processing. Zone Picking Zone picking is the
order picking version of the assembly line. In zone picking, the picking area is broken up into
individual pick zones. Order pickers are assigned a specific zone, and only pick items within that

how the background of this photo shows a darker purple than that of a lighter purple than that on the

I think the subject matter for this photo prevails itself as purposeful, and the photographer had a
purpose in her mind that she was trying to go by when taking the image. I also think the color adds to
the meaning of the photo. I think the photographer wanted to use different shades of purple to really
make the baby with the darker purple romper on pop out more. I think the subject positioning,

27. Animal Pollution
The environment which we live in is polluted every single day. The carelessness of humans today is
further damaging the ecosystem in some ways, more identifiable than others. Factory farming is a
system of rearing livestock using intensive methods, by which poultry pigs, or cattle are confined
indoors under strictly controlled conditions (Merriam webster). The animals are forced into the
participation of the supply and demand through cities and towns. Many may be oblivious to the fact
that the animal industry is a leading factor of pollution. The global movement of intense meat
production is negatively affecting climate changes, ocean pollution and the animal food chain.
The process of meat production is causing the earth s climate to unnaturally change. Factory farms use
a variety of toxic chemicals to feed, grow and execute the animals. One of the chemicals used on
factory farms is Carbon Dioxide. Burning fossil fuel (oil and gasoline) releases a considerable amount
of carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel, oil or natural gas, formed from
the remains of dead plants and animals. It takes, on average 11 times as much fossil fuel to produce a
calorie of animal protein as it does to produce a calorie of grain protein. In the end, more carbon
dioxide is released during the production of meat rather than the manufacturing of vegetables and
plants (Peta, p.1) Another toxic chemical that is often released into the atmosphere because of factory

31. Jane Jacobs Chapter 11 Analysis
Jane Jacobs begins chapter eleven, about the last condition necessary for the existence of diversity:
that there should be a dense concentration of people including residents. The main success factor in
this condition is based on population density. The chapter starts off by Jacobs beginning statement
supported by Samuel Jackson. The relationship of concentration can also be known as high density to
conveniences and to other kinds of diversity is generally well understood as it applies to downtowns.
Jacobs notes that high dwelling densities have a bad name in orthodox planning and housing theory;
they are supposed to lead to every kind of difficulty and failure. If there is high population densities in
residential areas that does not necessarily mean that it will lead to the slums. There is a supposed
correlation that is incorrect between high densities and trouble, or high densities and slums.

Since then it has gotten loads of critical acclaim and has sold countless amounts of copies. This
incredible novel is a story about a Thirty Two year old man named Charlie Gordon, who is mentally
handicapped. Throughout the course of the novel Charlie is given a second chance at life, a chance to
be smart. After a successful test on mice, Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur are looking for a human volunteer
to test their artificial intelligence procedure on. After being recommended for his determination by his

Although being completely based on the story, the movie has many differences as well as similarities
and can be easily compared and contrasted. First, are the differences between the movie and the
textbook. A significant difference is the Chicago conference and Charlie s speech at the conference.
Although mentioned in the text book, the conference is never explained in full detail. It was a wise
decision of the director to implement this into the movie since it gives you Charlie s perspective and
opinion of the whole experiment. During the speech he explains how Dr. Strauss basically
manipulated him, and, Charlie also counter states Dr. Strauss s opinion on the old Charlie, where
Strauss calls him a mistake of nature and other harsh things. Seeing the firm tone and serious
expressions in Charlie as he presents his speech really reveals some of Charlie s strong opinions.

33. Observation Of A Soccer Field In Elementary School
Observation #1 For my first observation I observed my four year old nephew s soccer practice at an
elementary school which lasted about a half an hour. They met on the empty field at the elementary
school, there were about 3 other teams practicing at the same time but everyone was spread out. The
coaches set up cones and pop up goals for the children. There were about 12 15 children there, I think
they said a few kids weren t there. There were about four coaches or helpers working with the
children. The first thing they did with the kids was a few warm up activities, the first being some sort
of running activity where the children ran around following the coaches, next, they hopped in place
being silly. Then the kids each got a ball and began a kicking exercise were the had to go around and
try to kick the ball at the cones and knock them down. Then the kids got in a line with their ball and
followed the leader around while dribbling the ball with both feet. In the next activity, the children got
to practice kicking a stationary ball into the goal. After that, they played a 7 min practice game. At this
point, many of the children were in the pre control level of proficiency because for most it is their first
time playing soccer and I could definitely tell. There might have been a few activities where some
children where at control level but it was very minimal. For example, during the kicking exercise, it
was very hard for the kids to control where their ball was going.

fighting or the two Western powers will intervene . On the 31st of October this ultimatum expires and

The Earth has been around for a long time. Humans have been around for a long time. America has
been around for a long time. However, these long times are on vastly different timescales, and are not
even close to being comparable to each other. To human minds, however, it would seem as though
anything beyond the scope of their lifetime blends into a series of events on a page. The years before
their birth sticking together into an amalgam of history, distorted beyond recognition. We place
prominence on events which have taken place recently, while discounting the vast eons between the
ages of the distant past. It may seem as though an eternity has passed between now and 1945 for the
centenarian, but even the oldest amongst us would see the time between the foundation of the greek
and egyptian civilizations as having a length much less than the 2500 years that separate the two. Two
varieties of ancient hominids may seem to be virtually contemporaries, when they are in actuality over
a million years of evolution removed from one another. Humans have many methods to describe large
numbers mathematically. Ever since the invention of the concept of zero essential to the ancients in
keeping good records of various transactions humans have been using mathematics to describe ever
larger quantities of items. The ancient story of the king and the chessboard of wheat demonstrates that
humans have been using large numbers since time immemorial. In the story, a king tells a

Every retail location carries a variety of products that distinguishes it from other stores in the same
chain. Not surprisingly, it is difficult to achieve economies of scale. Supply Chain Mackey describes
his consumers as being part of a cult . Whole Foods believes that the company s emphasis on
perishables and locally sourced produce differentiates their stores from run of the mill supermarkets
and attracts loyal and devoted customers. However, fresh produce is one of the most challenging
product categories to operate due to limited product shelf life and high cost of spoilage. Whole Foods
has tried to circumvent most of the problems inherent in supplying fresh produce to its stores by
sourcing locally and having short and flexible supply chains. In the case of fruits and vegetables,
Whole Foods has buying relationships with local farmers who supply the store with seasonal produce.
Thus, if one farmer is unable to produce a sufficient amount of yellow corn or heirloom tomatoes, the
shortfall can be made up by another farmer. Although challenging to perfect, these short supply chains
are agile and difficult for other big retailers to duplicate.

Females are less violent than males, at least according to recent research. Biologically speaking, there
are differences in levels of violence in men and women (Wright, Tibbett, Daigle, 2008). With eighty
five percent of arrestees being male, it s easy to see that males commit many more violent crimes than
females. These differences are credited to brain configuration, neurotransmitters, the limbic system,

There are different intellectual styles between males and females. These differences can be traced to

A Positron Emission Tomography study was conducted in order to compare the differing levels of
activity of the amygdala in females and males. The study showed that males typically have higher
levels of activity. The amygdala regulates emotions and is located in the lower part of the limbic
system (Beaver, 2009).
The cingulate gyrus is the part of the limbic system that is responsible for keeping emotions and
aggression under control (Wright et al., 2008). Research on the differences in this area between males
and females concluded that females are better retaining emotions internally and are better at
displaying emotional behavior than males. Females have higher levels of serotonin. Serotonin is a
neurotransmitter that helps regulate impulses and control behavior. Low levels of serotonin are
associated with antisocial behavior (Beaver, 2009). Likewise, females also usually have a higher level
of amino butyric than males. This is a neurotransmitter that regulates violence and aggression (Wright

great deal of explanation for the different levels of aggression, violence and criminal behavior found
between the sexes.

But he had to know more. Why? Why d you do it? Why? Orson raised an eyebrow. Well, why not?
might be a better question. Denny raised the pistol. Tell me or I swear I ll put a bullet in your forehead.
You know what, Denny, that s the difference between you and me, Orson said nodding, relaxed as
ever. You don t know how to take advantage of an opportunity and I do. Denny scowled. What are you
talking about? Orson crossed his arms over his chest. Okay, for instance, you just had your chance to
shoot me I gave it to you! and you didn t take it. He frowned. And forever you ve had the chance to
return my love and you missed that too. What?! Orson laughed. But yeah, the window for that
opportunity has closed, as well, and now you re on your own. You re evil. You killed Brig too. No, no,
Orson said, shaking his head with a laugh. I think you did. And as a matter of fact, I changed my mind
I think you killed Rashida too. At least that s what I m going to tell my friend, Detective Washington.
Denny shook his head. He couldn t think. You re gonna pay for this. Nope. Orson walked a few steps
to a French table under a mirror. You re going to. Stop right there, Orson, or I swear to God I ll shoot
you! Denny brandished the pistol. Orson opened a drawer in the table and took out a black revolver.
He turned it on Denny. Yeah, that s how it happened, Denny. He pulled the gun s hammer back. You

Cleaning with Barry and Britt
The act of being habitually and carefully neat and clean can make for an interesting topic in a
comparison and contrast essay. Dave Barry compares the differences of how women and men clean in
his compare and contrast essay, Batting Clean Up and Striking out. In Suzanne Britt s compare and
contrast essay, Neat People vs. Sloppy People she compares the differences of personalities between
Sloppy people and neat people. Both essays compare cleanliness in one way or another however they
both have differences regarding their use of humor, examples, and points made in their thesis.

The way Barry and Britt support their points in their compare and contrast essays differ. In Batting
Clean Up and Striking Out, Barry uses lots of personal stories and factual happenings to explain his
opinions. For example, to explain how men are worse at cleaning Barry specifically refers to a
volcano eruption that happened in Pompei because the men, who were in control of the cleaning, did
not notice ashes piling up around and in their houses. In addition, when describing how men are better
with sports than woman he refers to a personal story; specifically a story about a dinner party that he
attended where the men were glued to the World Series and the women were still chatting amongst
themselves. These forms of examples are personal stories that offer validity. On the other hand, in
Britt s Neat people vs. Sloppy people she uses more dreamt up incidences to explain her opinions. For
example when explaining how neat people are viscous with their mail she explains, All ads, catalogs,
pleas for charitable contributions, church bulletins, and money saving coupons go straight into the
trash can without being opened...No sentimental salvaging of birthday cards or the last letter a dying
relative ever wrote. Into the trash it goes (256). As seen in this example, Britt uses lots of lists and
possible incidents that could exist to support her points, but do these incidences

math equations. H0: Mu = 119,155 2. The data from the readers in 2012, reveals that the alternative
hypothesis is greater than 119,155, due to the difference in readers from 2010. Ha: MU 119,155 Based
on the results from the hypothesis tester for sigma known, the null hypothesis average income for
readers of 119,155 is to be rejected. However, the alternative hypothesis of greater than 119,155
should not be rejected. 4. The P value equals P (Z greater or equal to z) =P (Z greater or equal to 3.06)

With the possibility of the sample population obtaining an income of less than or equal to 119,155 is
highly unlikely. This indicates to use that the sample population has a higher chance of having the
average income or greater than 119,155. I am confident based on the statistics that the mean for the
income did increase due to the average income equal to 119,155 being rejected during the null
hypothesis test. The possibility of selecting a sample with an average income equal to or less than
119,155 is highly unlikely due to the calculated p value of .0011, which is an 0.11%. Furthermore,
there is sufficient evidence that is presented, that does not reject the alternative hypothesis, while in
fact the alternative hypothesis has a 99.98% possibility in occurring when choosing a population
sample. Due to the null hypothesis being rejected and the alternative hypothesis having a 99.98 %
chance of occurring, I would recommend raising the price for the magazine. In the chance that the
Alpha was 0.1, the likelihood of the creating type one error decreases from .05 to .01, this makes it
more difficult to reject the hypothesis. Although, in this situation, the null hypothesis will still be
rejected due to the p value of .0011 still being less than

going to college in New York and becoming a photographer has been an innate part of my life. I
entered my first photography competition in the third grade and have been lusting over the big city
longer than anyone can remember. Although I am unsure where this plan stemmed from, everything in
my life has been geared towards this goal.
This past summer, I participated in a three week photography pre college program in Manhattan.
Although I had been to New York once before, living on my own and seeing the city from the
perspective of a college student has strengthened my belief that New York is where I belong. During

47. Gdp And Total Expenditure On Purchasing A New Houses Essay
1. GDP is the monetary value allocated to all goods and services produced within a given country.
This excludes the net income accruing from abroad. GDP can be measured using the total expenditure
approach for calculating National Income as a summation of total expenditure on commodities
produced in a given economy. Any expenditure on purchasing a new houses is excluded. The final
consumption of the government is also included together with all current expenditure. Their
expenditure on fixed assets is also included. The value of the physical increase in inventories during
the course if the year is also included. The summation of all these components is the Total Domestic
Expenditure, TDE. Adding up expenditure on export to the TDE determines the Total Final
Expenditure. Subtracting all expenditure on imports from this total results to a measure known as the
GDP at market rate. Subtracting taxes on expenditure levied by the government and adding back the
total amount of subsidy leads to the arrival at a figure known as GDP at factor cost. National income is
however affected by interest, rent and profit accruing from abroad and the net of the property income
from abroad ought to be added to the GDP. This leads to the arrival at the GDP at factor cost. GDP can
also be arrived at by using factor incomes in the computation of National Income. Under this
approach, the summation of individual incomes arrives at the domestic income, as each time
something is produced and sold,

48. Stagecoach Film Analysis
Throughout the films I have watched this semester, American Indians have been constructed and
represented in many different ways. Throughout this semester, different films in different eras have led
to stereotyping American Indians and poorly portraying the construction of Native life. At the
beginning of this semester, films portrayed Indians as savages who couldn t kill a cowboy, but at the
end of the semester, that stereotype changed into American Indians represented as helpless people who
cannot be rescued from the alcoholism and distress found on reservations. The ways the Native
Americans are portrayed in these films create an image that America views Indians in today s society.
In the first films viewed in class, they created the life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stagecoach represents Native Americans as noble savages, a typical Hollywood Indian in western
movies. A noble savage is a racist term used to describe a character as a wild person who symbolizes
the goodness of humanity. They are an outsider who has not been civilized yet. This representation of
Indians is completely stereotyped and is completely inaccurate but was created for the entertainment
of white audiences who watch western films. The film Stagecoach is a complete western style film
with scenes of cowboys versus Indians, in which the Indians are helpless, and cowboys seem to come
out of the middle of the desert (Ford, 1939). These types of western films portray the American
Indians through basic stereotypes such as riding horses with bows and arrows, they are always
outnumbered, and they are portrayed in a dehumanizing style. These films act as if Indians are wild
animals and not as actual people. The cowboys always are the heroes and the Indians always are
incapable of surviving. Due to western movies, America now has the image of the Hollywood Indian
that some people still believe Indians are in today s society. The representation of Indians in
Stagecoach creates a visual that Indians are impotent and not humane. American Indians are always
seen as the bad guys in western films which allows today s society to use the image of Indians as
costumes for Halloween and allows people to see Indians as an object and not

49. Essay about Dances With Wolves
Dances With Wolves
In his movie Dances With Wolves actor Kevin Costner tries to do away with any preconceived notions
that the viewer might have had about the Native American Indians being a savage and inhuman race.
He does this by first unraveling the mysteriousness of the Indians then he brings the viewer to a point
of connectedness with the Indians and their culture. We then come to a sincere appreciation for them
as human beings and individuals and find ourselves siding with them in matters of allegiance. This
movie accomplishes this goal with several tactics and strategies. As the story unfolds we follow the
life of John Dunbar (Kevin Costner) and take on his emotions and therefore come to the same
realizations that he does. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see that they are easily frightened at times like when Kicking Bird runs from the naked John who
is also just as shocked by the Indians presence however does not want his horse, Sisco, to be messed
with. We see through John s eyes how frustrating it is to not be able to communicate with other people
and we understand how much trouble this has probably been for the Indians before. We see them as
being generous people when John is presented with a Buffalo skin from them as well as their kindness
in accepting his gifts. We also see how in John s eyes the Indians are developing personalities of their
own as individuals and not just a group of people.
The second thing that must be done in order for the movie to completely change our opinion of these
savages and bring our allegiances to them instead of the white settlers and army is that we must not
only overcome our fears and prejudices we must also now connect with them in such a way that we
feel bonded by friendship and love. The best way to accomplish this is through a feeling of belonging.
As John becomes more and more involved with the Indians we see more and more of the personalities
of the Indians themselves and we begin to see how human they really are. Now John begins to form
friendships with these Indians and therefore so do we. One example of this is John s friendship with
Kicking Bird. John and

51. 5 Sleep Stages
There are five stages of sleep. Each one is distinguishable from the others. During the course of a
night s sleep, on average, humans cycle through all of these stages several times, usually about 4 to 6
times. Circadian rhythms in the body tell us when it is time to sleep. Before sleeping, while alert, beta
waves appear on an EEG. During a state of relaxation, immediately prior to sleeping, alpha waves
appear on an EEG. After drifting off into sleep, the first sleep stage begins. This is characterized by
being the lightest stage of sleep, with brain waves being slow and irregular. After drifting further to
slumber, the second stage begins. Body temperature drops, and both heart rate and brain waves slow
down. Breathing becomes shallow as well.
