Superfreakonomics a Personal Review
About The Book. One of the most powerful laws in the universe is the law of unintended
consequences (Levitt, S. 2009) This is one of the primarily premises that the book establishes, with
an extraordinary sense of humor and interesting data, Steven and Stephen set us in the real
economics world, in which the common factors that all the teachers show to their students are
applied in such a way that the real job is getting done. The way the authors write all the interesting
facts of todayВґs modern life, including correct and simple explanations, so that anyone can
understand all the topics without having doubts of the concepts and of the more difficult topics of
economy. The examples they give provide us a fun way of learning, and of... Show more content on

the several factors that can change within a second, this fact is not considered in the book, that

What Is Carrie Fisher Role Model
Actress Carrie Fisher has passed away last year, on December 27, 2016. Although she has left this
world, she has also left a legacy that will always remain. Her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars
franchise has helped generations of Star Wars fans to see a woman as a heroine.
Gone is the damsel in distress aura that is usually exhibited in movies. When Carrie Fisher played
Princess Leia, she delivered a powerful statement that women are brave and intelligent. Which is
why Jill Berkowicz and Ann Myers consider her, or Princess Leia rather, to be the model for
education girls.
Her role can affect school and leadership, as reported by Education Week. Myers and Berkowicz
found that Princess Leia has helped clear the paths for many girls

Other state governments also joined the suite in the Northern part of the country such as Niger
State Transport Authority (NSTA), Kaduna State Transport Authority (KSTA) which later gave
birth to Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA) after Katsina State was created. A new
chapter on the Nigerian road passenger transport service came alive with the introduction of
private operators in the late 80s. The likes of Ekene Dili Chukwu, Chidi Ebere Transport, PN
Emerah, Madugu Na Bakon Waya and Ifesinachi Transport Services revolutionalized this sector
with modern fleets and plying of new routes. Some later entrants like ABC and CN Okoli added
more vigor by plying routes even beyond the shores of Nigeria and offering services comparable to
what obtains in developed countries while making full use of passenger manifests at loading points.
Within the past two decades, many good and promising transport companies have come and gone
with most unable to withstand the pervading competition while others simply mismanaged their
successes. One thing stands out though, and that is the deficiency of these transporters in the
management of peak periods. Thus the need to use mathematical models and scientific algorithms
in the scheduling and assignment of organizational resources for the purpose of optimizing the use
of organizational resources is necessary in order to bring about maximum utilization of resources to

Operation Torch Case Study
During OPERATION TORCH the Allied Center of Gravity was their naval forces. The naval
forces were critical to the transporting combat forces, logistical support, and securing the sea lines
of communication throughout North Africa. The ability for the Allies to insert ground forces in
and around the Mediterranean was a critical capability they possessed. The ability to do enabled
the joint force to create a tactical advantage over the German Afrika Korps. Without this ability, it
would hinder all phases of Operation TORCH and the Allies goal of defeating the Axis. The
critical requirements needed to support the Allies began with the Allies security of the Straits of
Gibraltar. This task was important in order to begin OPERATION TORCH,

What Has E Recruitment Influenced The Modern Day...
To what extent has e recruitment influenced the modern day recruitment process?
Since e recruitment emerged it has dramatically impacted modern day recruitment methods.
Compared to previous traditional approaches, such as word of mouth and headhunters, e
recruitment provides a larger spectrum of opportunities for employers and job seekers. Both The
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC)
have very similar methods of e recruitment, each bank operates an internet based resource dedicated
to online recruitment which are different in navigation and style but similar in content and purpose.
LinkedIn, a networking tool used by both organisations and professionals, is actively used in order
to encourage more potential candidates to interact with the businesses. All the aspects regarding the
online recruitment method used by RBS and HSBC are vital in attracting suitable applicants, but to
what extent has e recruitment influenced the modern day recruitment process?
A study by Ghazzawi, K and Accoumeh (2014) indicates that the e recruitment process is initiated
by the organisation recognizing a need for additional or new personnel. Following identification of
this need the job vacancy would be advertised online through the organisation s professional
website, an e recruiting website, on various social media applications or possibly all three of these
outlets. Applications would then be managed and short listed according to the person

Rick Riordan Quotes
Rick Riordan is a person that is known to have strong words in many of his novels about
adventure. As he has shown in his books, anyone can do anything that they put their mind to.
The quote I made Percy Jackson ADHD as a way to show my respect to those who are, is very
important. This is very important because it shows that Rick believes in many people. Also, he
shows that in his novels, the demigod s are going on numerous quests in hopes of survival. Then,
Mr.Riordan is also showing that he believes in the characters, even if they are dyslexic and
disabled . He is showing that he acknowledges that others can t judge someone just because
someone is different. He also seems to connect this to another quote, a quote that greatly connects
to me, Stars can t shine without darkness, by Anonymous because most of the people in his stories
have very bad pasts, and have overcome the darkness to be a better person. Through many believe
this quote leads to discussion about Ricks opinion on ADHD, most know it was because he

In the quote Writing is like an sport, If you don t practice, you don t get any better, is one of the
quotes that shows this. After that, people have to acknowledge the fact that he obviously
believes that even a genus could use training. As if this wasn t enough, he shows this in his
books because when Percy comes to Camp Half Blood, he is great a swordfighting, but in the
Heros of Olympus series, he is swiftly beat by someone that has never seen him fight or anything.
Also, Nico Di Angelo, the son Hades had extreme talent, or power, but he still needed practice,
otherwise he would have not destroyed part of the camp. This even relates to a quote, Nobody s

Cell Phone Radiation Essay
Purpose: My purpose is to provide information on cell phone radiation, the risks that can be caused
by cell phone radiation, and the potential health problems that could result from this. Details of the
topic: I am going to talk about the arguments about how cell phone radiation can affect our lives
and whether these arguments are accurate or not. Cell phone radiation is a type of electromagnetic
radiation that has the ability to cause health issues. The radiation from this device can cause serious
brain tumours, according to one study by Anna Lahkola of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety
Authority in Finland, which found that people who use their cell phone for more than 2000 hours
have a higher chance of getting a brain tumour. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cell phones/smart phones would be in the non ionizing category because they use a low to mid
frequency. In this diagram you can see the frequency for cell phones/smart phones is in the range
from 0 to 10В№Вє in hertz (Hz). Furthermore the group also mentioned that, even though the
frequency for non ionizing radiation is less dangerous, it is still possible to have side effects
that may affect to our personal lives. There was a class where at the end we had a very brief
discussion about radiation from electronics and the topic of cell phones/smart phones was brought
up by few students when they were asked about their opinion or personal experience. Some side
effects they mentioned from using their cell phones/smart phones constantly were having
problems falling asleep along with minor headaches. Reflection: This voluntary assignment helps
me because it provides some very interesting facts and debates about the side effects of cell phone
/smart phone radiation. In this course we have covered many different kinds of radiation, but we
have not talked a lot about the radiation from technology. We presume this kind of radiation is too
low to have serious effects on us. However, I remember that I actually had some problems when I
used my IPhone (smart phone) two years ago. For instance, I started out with a headache that turned

A New Year At An Unforgettable Year
January 1, 2016. The ball dropped at midnight like it does every year, and people around the
world cheered on the coming of the new year. For most, a new year equals new opportunities,
improvement, and overall, hopes for a better year than the previous one. I was one of the people
that thought this on that particular New Years. 2015hadn t been the greatest year of my life, so that
meant 2016 would have to be better. As much as I wanted that and wished it were true, it wasn t at
all. On New Years Day 2016, my grandpa was admitted into the hospital, and the months following
were a roller coaster of highs and lows that made 2016 an unforgettable year for many not so great
reasons. During the summer of 2015, my Grandpa Mert was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This
particular type of cancer is usually very treatable and is something you just live with, so it didn t
worry our family too much. Toward the end of the year, however, things started changing. On
New Years Day, my grandpa was admitted to the hospital for the flu, and the flu turned into
pneumonia, and we found out later it was all because of his cancer. He had tried one round of
chemotherapy, but the treatment made his body so weak that it couldn t fight off other viruses,
like the flu and pneumonia. He ended up staying in the hospital on and off (mostly on) for just
over a month, and even had to spend his 75th birthday in the hospital. As his health progressively
worsened and his body became weaker, he

Professor Mitra Biography
Professor Raka Mitra is a cell biologist in the Department of Biology here at Carleton College.
She is a Minnesota native and graduate from Robinsdale Armstrong High School, which is a
public high school northwest of the Twin Cities. She credits her high school s flexible
curriculum in providing her the foundation she needed to pursue a career in science, in addition
to the strong support she had from her family, who wished her well and gave her independence
in her academic and career decisions; her female friend group, whom she grew up and became
valedictorian with; and her dance team, which instilled confidence in her. Growing up, Professor
Mitra was inclined to most of the sciences with the exception of chemistry but it wasn t until her
10th grade AP biology class that she felt a stronger inclination towards a particular field in STEM.
It was during the unorthodox instruction she received from her AP biology teacher in which he
would encourage innovation and critical thinking by having her and her fellow classmates answer
problem sets with a library of science textbooks, and in which he would assign oral biology... Show

focus that some of the biologist, including herself, make on mastering mechanisms and disease in
easy to study systems will eventually equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to leverage
them to more complicated systems, which will allow them to solve agricultural problems, such as

Cajun Food Research Paper
Cajun American Culinary History
Cajun food comes from the deepest Southern parts of Louisiana and Mississippi. Like the area it
originated from, Cajun flavor is spicy, rich, and really, really good! A lot of people don t know that
the typical Cajun food was developed by extremely poor people. Refugees and farmers used what
they had to feed large families. If you ask a resident of the area, you will find out that Louisiana
Creole originated with the settling of European immigrants around 1690. These folks brought with
them the influences of European traditions including their cuisine.
Most were upper class aristocracy, so Creole today is seen as a classier, fine cuisine while Cajun
is more of a common cuisine. The main difference is that Cajun cuisine uses wild vegetables and
game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is still evidenced today in the Creole cooking we enjoy. As a lot of these people were
probably second sons with no hopes of inheriting land or holdings at home in Europe, they arrived
here to search out their fortunes. Many of these immigrants were French. The classic French dish
named Bouillabaisse is a tribute to that heritage.
In reality, Louisiana Creole cuisine is a mixture of several different and varied cultures. Soon after
the immigrants arrived in the area, native Indians introduced the use of local grown vegetables like
corn, ground sassafras and bay leaves. Tomatoes from Central and South America were also
introduced. As these ingredients began to see utilization, the Creole cuisine we know today started
to take shape.
The Creoles that settled in the Louisiana area enjoyed a fairly rich lifestyle. A few years later, the
influx of African slaves brought okra seeds into the culture. Okra was added to some dishes,
especially soups, and since the African word for okra is gumbo , that is what we called the
signature dish of Louisiana Creole

Jfk Assassination Conspiracy Theories Essay
Have you ever heard of an event that had more conspiracy theories than the JFK assassination?
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas at 12:30 on November 22, 1963. JFK
was our 35th president of the United States, he was loved by many Americans and only some hated
him, which might have led to the Kennedy assassination. He was assassinated by Lee Harvey
Oswald, a U.S. Marine American Sniper who secretly went to the Soviet Union for unknown
reasons. The day of the assassination was a huge uproar, it happened so fast that many Americans
couldn t explain what they saw, this created conspiracy theories. A conspiracy theory is a belief
that an organization or individual is responsible for an event. One can conclude that the JFK... Show

Many witnesses of the shooting said they saw smoke coming from the grassy knoll, this caused
speculations that the shooter was located to the right of Kennedy, this could be argued why
Kennedy s head went back from the backlash of the bullet. People who tuned into the assassination
believed that there was a shooter from the Texas School Depository, then this came along and they
all jumped from one shooter to multiple shooters, this connects to the other conspiracy theory of
multiple shooters. Citizens who filmed the assassination released their film along with the Zapruder
film, this was a huge advantage for the government. The grassy knoll was a highlight of these films,
people discovered a silhouette that looked like a dog or a human, it was later called the Black Dog
Man . People could argue this thing was the shooter because throughout the film this thing showed
suspicious activity. Throughout the JFK assassination there were many speculations and conspiracy
theories that Americans discovered. This brought America together to find out who shot the
president, it was a huge mystery at the time and still is to this day. When the Zapruder film came
out, the Warren report, and more evidence, this started many conspiracy and arguments between the
government and Americans. Overall, one can conclude that the JFK assassination had the most

Characterism And Gerasim In The Death Of Ivan Ilych
According to Webster dictionary destiny means, a predetermined course of events often held to
be an irresistible power or agency, such a simple definition for a word that holds so much weight
(Webster). Anyone who thinks of the word destiny feels some form of intimidation because
knowing that we are destined to do something great or small can be overwhelming. In most
frictional writing the characters have a predetermined destiny they need to fulfill from Katniss
Everdeen stopping the Hunger Games to Odysseus going back home and reclaim his thrown. The

Gerasim, on the other hand, was very different he was not only poor but he was also sincere in the
way he spoke and in his actions. Before Gerasim chose to help Ivan, Ivan lived, alone on the brink
of abyss, with no one who understood or pitied him, (Tolstoy p.158). Gerism took pity on Ivan
which was something Ivan wanted, Gerasim s attitude towards him there was something akin to
what he wished for, so the attitude comforted him, (Tolstoy p.168). Through acknowledging Ivan s
failing health Gerism gave Ivan something he thought he never truly had which was a real human
relationship. Just by showing simple kindness Gerism caused Ivan to rethink his entire life. Still, a
question remains not about Ivan, but about Gerism and did he fight his destiny or was he accepting
of his purpose?
We shall all of us die so why should I grudge a little trouble? is the reply Gerism gave when Ivan
questioned why Gerism was helping him. Toylse goes deeper into this question, expressing that
Gerism didn t think helping Ivan was a burden because one day Gerism hoped someone would
do the same for him (Tolstoy p.168). Gerism destiny was to show Ivan what a good life looked
liked with someone who wasn t part of Ivan s high society driven friends. Gerism was accepting of
his purpose and did it with a smile on his face. He showed Ivan compassion and pity when Ivan
truly needed human sympathy. Even though this sign of human interaction made Ivan question his

The Prayer Of A Public School
Many people in Southern Missouri believe that we need to have more religion in schools. Keep
Christ in Christmas, One nation under God, and post the Ten Commandments on every wall in
public buildings. This is an easy rallying cry because most people in rural Southwest Missouri
share the same Christian beliefs. There is a place for these types of soapboxes. That place is
called church. Schools are designed to prepare students for the college and career. Churches are
designed to prepare congregations for the after life. As the law mandates, each organization is
separate and each plays a vital role in the betterment of our communities. In order to address
religious celebrations in schools, one must address how religionshould be handled in the day to day
educational operation of a public school. The First Amendment Center provides a great guide and
tips on How to Handle Religious Holidays in Public Schools. The article reminds educators that
schools may not promote any religion, but may teach about religion. As an English teacher one
cannot have their class read The Crucible without educating their students on the Puritan faith. Most
freshmen in Missouri read Romeo and Juliet. To understand the true motivations of the Juliet the
reader must have a basic understanding of Catholicism. The same idea is true in Social Studies.
Educators cannot ignore religion, they just cannot promote it. Students in rural Southwest Missouri

Humor In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
In any successful story or play humor is present and it is able to create different moods and
contrasts. In Shakespeares famous play Romeo and Juliet, humor is used skillfully throughout all
the play to give the audience a break from all the tension. During the play the use of puns and comic
characters implement humor which ultimately helps lighten the mood. During Shakespeares tragic
play Romeo and Juliet he uses puns and comic characters throughout the play to implement humor
which ultimately helps lighten the mood in certain scenes. Firstly, humor is expressed through the
uses of comic characters. These characters are the embodiment of humor and they are able to
switch the plays moods from tragedy to comedy. The first character that creates humor is Mercutio

The Method Of Detection Of Dna
1.Primer Annealing temperature is lowered so that primers attach to DNA strands
2.Extension DNA polymerase (e.g. Taq) helps to make new DNA strands.
The PCR cycle continues as DNA is copied exponentially. The original PCR methods allowed
detection of DNA growth at the end of the process; however the introduction Real Time PCR (RT
PCR) has allowed DNA amplification progress to be monitored throughout the assay (6).
RT PCR is often confused with reverse transcriptase PCR (rt PCR), however rt PCR is a method
of detecting RNA by utilising reverse transcriptase to synthesise cDNA by. cDNA is then amplified
and detected by PCR techniques (6).
RT PCR has now advanced so that assays can now screen several viral DNA/RNA at once
(Multiplex PCR). The Roche Cobas TaqScreen MPX Test v2.0 encompasses an rt PCR stage to
allow detection of:
HIV 1 Group M (RNA)
HIV 1 Group O (RNA)
HIV 2 (RNA)
HCV (DNA)
HBV (DNA)
(5)
MPX PCR uses several gene specific primers (forward and reverse strands) within a reaction mix.
Internal controls are present within the testing kit, making the process highly efficient. By
combining several tests on one platform, this is a very lean method testing; however there is a
small risk of cross hybridisation due to the volume of different primers used (5,6).
An added benefit of using RT PCR to screen viral targets is that they shorten the detection window
period of some viruses. This means, even if a viral marker can be detected serologically

Aristotle s Views On Life
One of the philosophers I will choose to analyze will be Aristotle. Aristotle believes that people
should always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and
pursue a life of good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of
human life. Although he was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was
that he believed slaves were necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and
that man is only fully rational if he participates in the city. This would mean that even as a slave,
you should be the best slave you could be because you are helping the city thrive however you are
in the lowest level. Aristotle believes that men should be in power,... Show more content on

I believe that Aristotle wanted to be seen and recognized for his works in everyday life. He
wants people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can
only be truly happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like
participating in the city state is your own choice.
Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and
husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education,
and the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by
basically saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a
female. He says that nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He
states that some people, by nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue
this by saying that slavery is natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband
/wife, rational/irrational, parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of
war because those people are not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to
rule over his people, then a master should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the
master s livelihood. The same idea

Anti Hispanic Racism In America
When Americans think of racism, they usually think of slavery, and that racism is no longer a
problem in America. However, this is not the case. Racism is still obvious in America. Racism
can be linked directly to stereotypical mindsets of certain groups of people. Today s racism is not
restricted to whites and blacks, and it has come to define many different groups and races.
Pigmentation as well as physical characteristics and features still are influential for classifying
people. It is easy to overlook the racism that hides below the surface and is part of American life.
Today, an estimate 54 million Latinos live in the U.S. and around 43 million people speak Spanish.
Although Latinos are the country s largest minority, anti Latino prejudice is still common. Very few
Americans recognize, acknowledge, and respect the contributions of one of America s greatest
ethnic groups Hispanics. Americans are often confused as to who Hispanics really are and what
they represent in America. Although the United Statesis known for having a melting pot of diverse
cultures, recent studies have shown the rise of discrimination against Latinos and Hispanics
immigrants. A person s legal status should not be an excuse for mistreatment.
Civil rights have been the example of our constitutional history. How we treat and respect others has
been the foundation of American democracy, yet despite this constitutional and moral obligation,
modern day anti Hispanic racism continues to define who we

Invention of the Automobile Essay
Invention of the Automobile
In the beginning, man s only form of transportation was his own feet. Later, to comfort his
journey on foot, was the invention of footwear. Through envy of the speed of other animals he
would learn to tame these animals. People who live in the desert ride atop camels. The people
who live in the frigid climates travel by dogs. Some people from places like India ride elephants.
But the must widely used form of transportation by animal power was by horse. Man would soon
develop boats and ships to travel long distances over water and time would flow like the rivers and

Interesting to note is that the only invention he made was a two cycle internal combustion engine.
The automobile today has items that are critical to have. If a major car company were to produce a
car powered only by Lenoir s engine it would never sell because of the essentials.
THE ESSENTIALS The essentials are the necessary parts for an automobile to be an automobile
in today s world. If someone were to build an automobile like that of Lenoir s today it would be
nothing more than a go kart. No one would call it an automobile. Automobiles need certain
things other than just an engine and a horse carriage to be considered an automobile today for
two reasons. One reason is so someone will actually buy it and another is because it s the item is
required by law. In 1861 a German engineer named Nikolaus August Otto built his first gasoline
powered engine. Three years later he would team up with Eugen Langen to form the Deutz Gas
Engine Factory. Otto s engine was based on the same principles of Lenoir s. It was also a two
stroke engine with one cylinder but it used the different type of fuel, gasoline rather than coal gas.
Otto and Langen learned of a way to gain more efficiency by compressing the gas before
combustion in 1867. This led them to production of the first four stroke

Review of literature 1.1 Tempromandibular joint:
The tempromandibular joint (TMJ) is a synovial articulation between the mandibular condyle and
the squamous portion of the temporal bone.
The TMJ is one of the most complex, delecate and highly used joint in human body(okeson 2008).
Tempromandibular joint is a bi condylar joint in which the condyles, the movable upper ends of
mandible, function at the same time (AAOMS,2007). 1.2 The Unique TMJ properties
1 The TMJ is a compound bilateral joint permits the mandible to move with two functional patterns,
hinge movement (inferior portion) and translation movement (superior portion).
2 The TMJ contrasts with other joints of the body in that its articular surfaces are primarily covered
with collagen instead of hyaline cartilage (Springer andGreenberg,2008).

Are The Core Competencies Cause The Internal And External...
Yes, Uber has many different divisions, that allow for the organization to best meet the needs for
the market. By having definite divisions, it allows Uber to specifically state the roles of that
division. Therefore, it allows for accountability to be taken by each division. Responsibility can be
taken by that area. Relating to organization culture, it allows for Uber to create subcultures
internally that allows that division to best reach their goals. Most importantly, it allows for
organizational efficiency. By having so many divisions, Uber can quickly reach the needs of the
internal and external stakeholders.
According to the textbook, a core competency is a manager s skills and abilities in value creation
activities such as manufacturing, R D, managing new technology and organizational design and
change. (pg.12) These core competencies cause a competitive advantage which is the ability of
one company to outperform another because its managers are able to create more value from the
resources at their disposal (pg. 12). Uber s core competency is creating a customer user face that
is universally functional. Their applications allow for access to both high and low end services

The Weaknesses Of The Judicial Branch Of Government In The...
The first form of Government in America was the Articles of Confederation, the Articles of

Congress lacked strong and steady leadership. The weakness were quite significant so the
Constitutional Convention was held to revise the Articles of Confederationbut instead led to the

for enforcing the laws, Legislative creates the laws, and the Judicial Branch interprets the law. The

The Age Of New Imperialism
The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to
previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power,
Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late
19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements
to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a
whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading
scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist
ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during
the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the

Gender Identity As An Unacceptable Act
David had yet again stolen his sister s dress but this time, his father was home to witness it.
David loved cross dressing and playing kitchen. His father, on the other hand, was a strict ex
military officer. David s father was a homophobic man who had zero tolerance for gay behavior.
David s father believed that, Cooking is a woman s job, so men do not belong in the kitchen. If a
mandoes things that are meant for a woman, that man is definitely gay! Such beliefs of what a
man can or cannot do restricts the self expression of the man. Inadvertently, these beliefs also lead
to misogyny. Women are seen as submissive objects to be toyed with. Men treat women as
property, in order to appear masculine , or better yet. Genderidentity is a... Show more content on

I always get my vitamins. This is proof that society and western culture, believe that women
belong in the kitchen or at home doing housework. The idea of a woman doing work that
requires hard labor or strength, or better yet, doing work outside of what is believed to be her
area of concentration, is completely incompatible with the western cultural conception of an
ideal woman. In the average household, the man is believed to be the breadwinner of the family.
He becomes the dominant figure of the family. The woman becomes the submissive figure the
one who does domestic work. The conception of an ideal male by western culture portrays a man
to not do domestic work in the home. Who makes these notions? And why do we accept them as
acceptable notions of division? If a man was stay home, put an apron on, do housework and cook,
it would misinterpreted wrongly. It could be the man s way of showing affection and gratitude to
his wife s work around the house. Society could view it as a violation of the gender norm and start
making assumptions and conclusions on the man s sexual orientation. Does wearing an apron
define a person s gender or sexuality?
Cross dressing has always been issue of conflict everywhere, especially in school environment.
Students nowadays publicly express their feelings and emotions on their gender identity through
their outfits. A boy can wear a dress and still be classified as a

A new chapter on the Nigerian road passenger transport service came alive with the introduction of private operators in the late 80s. The likes of Ekene Dili Chukwu, Chidi Ebere Transport, PN Emerah, Madugu Na Bakon Waya and Ifesinachi Transport Services revolutionalized this sector with modern fleets and plying of new routes. As he has shown in his books, anyone can do anything that they put their mind to. The quote I made Percy Jackson ADHD as a way to show my respect to those who are, is very important. This is very important because it shows that Rick believes in many people. Also, he shows that in his novels, the demigod s are going on numerous quests in hopes of survival. Then, Mr.Riordan is also showing that he believes in the characters, even if they are dyslexic and disabled . He is showing that he acknowledges that others can t judge someone just because someone is different. Furthermore the group also mentioned that, even though the frequency for non ionizing radiation is less dangerous, it is still possible to have side effects that may affect to our personal lives. There was a class where at the end we had a very brief discussion about radiation from electronics and the topic of cell phones/smart phones was brought up by few students when they were asked about their opinion or personal experience. For most, a new year equals new opportunities, improvement, and overall, hopes for a better year than the previous one. I was one of the people that thought this on that particular New Years. 2015hadn t been the greatest year of my life, so that meant 2016 would have to be better. As much as I wanted that and wished it were true, it wasn t at all. On New Years Day 2016, my grandpa was admitted into the hospital, and the months following were a roller coaster of highs and lows that made 2016 an unforgettable year for many not so great reasons. During the summer of 2015, my Grandpa Mert was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This particular type of cancer is usually very treatable and is something you just live with, so it didn t worry our family too much. Toward the end of the year, however, things started changing. On New Years Day, my grandpa was admitted to the hospital for the flu, and the flu turned into pneumonia, and we found out later it was all because of his cancer. He had tried one round of chemotherapy, but the treatment made his body so weak that it couldn t fight off other viruses, like the flu and pneumonia. Growing up, Professor Mitra was inclined to most of the sciences with the exception of chemistry but it wasn t until her 10th grade AP biology class that she felt a stronger inclination towards a particular field in STEM. Like the area it originated from, Cajun flavor is spicy, rich, and really, really good! A lot of people don t know that the typical Cajun food was developed by extremely poor people. Refugees and farmers used what they had to feed large families. If you ask a resident of the area, you will find out that Louisiana Creole originated with the settling of European immigrants around 1690. These folks brought with them the influences of European traditions including their cuisine. Most were upper class aristocracy, so Creole today is seen as a classier, fine cuisine while Cajun is more of a common cuisine. The main difference is that Cajun cuisine uses wild vegetables and game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is still evidenced today in the Creole cooking we enjoy. As a lot of these people were probably second sons with no hopes of inheriting land or holdings at home in Europe, they arrived here to search out their fortunes. Many of these immigrants were French. The classic French dish named Bouillabaisse is a tribute to that heritage. In reality, Louisiana Creole cuisine is a mixture of several different and varied cultures. Soon after the immigrants arrived in the area, native Indians introduced the use of local grown vegetables like corn, ground sassafras and bay leaves. Tomatoes from Central and South America were also introduced. As these ingredients began to see utilization, the Creole cuisine we know today started to take shape. The Creoles that settled in the Louisiana area enjoyed a fairly rich lifestyle. A few years later, the influx of African slaves brought okra seeds into the culture. Okra was added to some dishes, especially soups, and since the African word for okra is gumbo , that is what we called the signature dish of Louisiana Creole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through acknowledging Ivan s failing health Gerism gave Ivan something he thought he never truly had which was a real human relationship. Just by showing simple kindness Gerism caused Ivan to rethink his entire life. Still, a question remains not about Ivan, but about Gerism and did he fight his destiny or was he accepting of his purpose? We shall all of us die so why should I grudge a little trouble? is the reply Gerism gave when Ivan questioned why Gerism was helping him. Toylse goes deeper into this question, expressing that Gerism didn t think helping Ivan was a burden because one day Gerism hoped someone would do the same for him (Tolstoy p.168). Gerism destiny was to show Ivan what a good life looked liked with someone who wasn t part of Ivan s high society driven friends. • 15. The Prayer Of A Public School Many people in Southern Missouri believe that we need to have more religion in schools. Keep Christ in Christmas, One nation under God, and post the Ten Commandments on every wall in public buildings. This is an easy rallying cry because most people in rural Southwest Missouri share the same Christian beliefs. There is a place for these types of soapboxes. That place is called church. Schools are designed to prepare students for the college and career. Churches are designed to prepare congregations for the after life. As the law mandates, each organization is separate and each plays a vital role in the betterment of our communities. In order to address religious celebrations in schools, one must address how religionshould be handled in the day to day educational operation of a public school. The First Amendment Center provides a great guide and tips on How to Handle Religious Holidays in Public Schools. The article reminds educators that schools may not promote any religion, but may teach about religion. As an English teacher one cannot have their class read The Crucible without educating their students on the Puritan faith. Most freshmen in Missouri read Romeo and Juliet. To understand the true motivations of the Juliet the reader must have a basic understanding of Catholicism. The same idea is true in Social Studies. Educators cannot ignore religion, they just cannot promote it. Students in rural Southwest Missouri have not experienced the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The PCR cycle continues as DNA is copied exponentially. The original PCR methods allowed detection of DNA growth at the end of the process; however the introduction Real Time PCR (RT PCR) has allowed DNA amplification progress to be monitored throughout the assay (6). RT PCR is often confused with reverse transcriptase PCR (rt PCR), however rt PCR is a method of detecting RNA by utilising reverse transcriptase to synthesise cDNA by. cDNA is then amplified and detected by PCR techniques (6). RT PCR has now advanced so that assays can now screen several viral DNA/RNA at once (Multiplex PCR). The Roche Cobas TaqScreen MPX Test v2.0 encompasses an rt PCR stage to allow detection of: HIV 1 Group M (RNA) HIV 1 Group O (RNA) HIV 2 (RNA) HCV (DNA) HBV (DNA) (5) MPX PCR uses several gene specific primers (forward and reverse strands) within a reaction mix. Internal controls are present within the testing kit, making the process highly efficient. By combining several tests on one platform, this is a very lean method testing; however there is a small risk of cross hybridisation due to the volume of different primers used (5,6). An added benefit of using RT PCR to screen viral targets is that they shorten the detection window period of some viruses. This means, even if a viral marker can be detected serologically ... Aristotle believes that people should always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and pursue a life of good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of human life. Although he was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was that he believed slaves were necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and that man is only fully rational if he participates in the city. This would mean that even as a slave, you should be the best slave you could be because you are helping the city thrive however you are in the lowest level. He wants people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can only be truly happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like participating in the city state is your own choice. Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education, and the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by basically saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a female. He says that nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He states that some people, by nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue this by saying that slavery is natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband /wife, rational/irrational, parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of war because those people are not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to rule over his people, then a master should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the master s livelihood. The same idea ... These four components are used together by a company to market their materials. The success of utilizing the promotion mix well can make or break a company s promotional campaign. Although all components play a part in the campaign, one or another component may be used more extensively depending on the product or material being marketed. Sales Promotions The big promotion with the Kia Thunder Rewards Zone is the opportunity to win free tickets or the chance to buy tickets. Most single game tickets are sold out soon after becoming available so if avoiding paying high dollar for tickets through scalpers or online, this program is a great opportunity. Also, the Thunder are hoping that all fans who win or buy a ticket have a great experience and come back again and again. They also expect most fans to spend money on concessions and merchandise so it s a win win situation for the team. Personal Selling This component is not used with the Kia Thunder Rewards Zone promotion. Overall, I feel the OKC Thunder has done a great job with this promotion. Not only does it bring more fans down to the arena, it also gives them a chance at tickets they normally would not be able to get. The local businesses benefit as well because the influx of fans who do not win the tickets, end up staying downtown to watch the game at a restaurant or bar. References http://www.nba.com. (n.d.). The growth of the company has led to the expansion of the entire Central Florida area with tremendous growth both for businesses and government. Walt Disneys initial purchase of land caused property values to skyrocket. Governmental strategies allowed Disney to maintain enormous control over the area while still giving incentives to state and local governments through additional tax revenues and name recognition. Competitors have sprung up around the area, ready to capitalize on the enormous success of the initial theme park. This consistent development required countless employees, so home values, salaries, and income taxes have played substantial parts of Florida s growth. Overall, Walt Disney World has allowed the Floridian economy to grow substantially through many different avenues. Due to the expected number of visitors, substantial infrastructure development was crucial. The property spans 47 square miles which is twice the size of Manhattan Island in New York City. The first form of Government in America was the Articles of Confederation, the Articles of Confederation worked but had a few flaws which included no system of national courts and also Congress lacked strong and steady leadership. The weakness were quite significant so the Constitutional Convention was held to revise the Articles of Confederationbut instead led to the creation of the United StatesConstitution. The Federalist wanted a strong central government but the Anti Federalists were scared that would be like Britain again so they opted for a small weak central government; their roles in the Convention were to make The Articles of Confederation please both parties and make compromises. The Constitutional Convention kept the Government from being overpowered by creating Checks and Balances, The Executive branch was responsible for enforcing the laws, Legislative creates the laws, and the Judicial Branch interprets the law. The Checks were intended to keep one Branch of Government from being more powerful then another Branch. The smaller and larger states compromised when creating laws by having the Senate and also the House of Representatives, smaller states like the Senate because this means all states would have an equal amount of reps but larger states preferred the House of Reps because the amount of reps was based on population. He asked himself whether he will enjoy living blissfully or suffer in this province because people here are very different than those living in France. Pascal de Bonaventure was enrolled to Westmount High School. He joined the French immersion program and took every other enriched course. Pascal was head and shoulders above the rest of the students in France. He was an intellectual Haitian teenager with a strongly built body and an afro shaped like a tree. He would naturally have this austere demeanor; he would always put up a serious and cold looking face at all times. School started and he headed to his first period, French class. He took a seat in the farthest corner of the classroom. Pascal kept looking out through the window for what seemed to be an eternity up until one of his classmates took a seat next to him. The young lad asked him: Hey, new kid, what s your name? Pascal replied with a disgruntled look on his face: Why does it matter to you, the teacher will call me out later. His classmate gave him a puzzled look with a hint of frustration. Once class was dismissed, the boy from earlier formally introduced himself and made a request: Sorry about earlier, my name is James. • 41. The Age Of New Imperialism The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power, Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism. White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late 1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since the 15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by religion and God. The idea of a woman doing work that requires hard labor or strength, or better yet, doing work outside of what is believed to be her area of concentration, is completely incompatible with the western cultural conception of an ideal woman. In the average household, the man is believed to be the breadwinner of the family. He becomes the dominant figure of the family. The woman becomes the submissive figure the one who does domestic work. The conception of an ideal male by western culture portrays a man to not do domestic work in the home. Who makes these notions?
