In most cases, hospital-based services tend to offer interfacility-type transports, as well as aeromedical services, which are offered in larger and remote organizations. ii. Some also offer 9-1-1 response and paramedic intercept service. iii. Paramedics are required to assist with patient care in other areas of the hospital in their down time. iv. Typically, paramedics will function in an emergency department (ED), but they may be part of an internal emergency response team. v. One benefit: access to information paramedics have from various medical providers. e. Hybrid or other i. Many large companies, such as those operating oil drilling platforms and factories with hundreds or thousands of employees have their own medical response and care facilities. ii. In some areas, paramedics work in conjunction with other healthcare providers. iii. Graduates can enter the field as a trained paramedic with a bachelor’s degree. 3. These institutes also produce high-quality research. 4. Paramedic students may have the opportunity to assist in a research project that will eventually change the future of EMS.
