With the acquisition of Mexican Territory in 1848, the question of slavery entered the American

scan the amount of parts he is pulling from each bin. If the line number falls under the minimum

necessary. Creating a barcode for 3,100 items will take significant time; however, after all

When analyzing a blood sample containing drugs, often a normal scale or balance cannot detect
the mass of the drugs in the sample due to the small size of the sample. In that case, in order to
properly determine the mass of a drug in a sample, it becomes necessary to utilize a mass
spectrometer. A mass spectrometer can measure the mass of atomic sized particles with great
accuracy (Jeol, 2006). In forensic toxicology, mass spectrometrycan provide scientists with the
identity and quantity of a drug in a sample (Christopher Tilson, personal communication, March
19, 21016). Mass spectrometry serves as an exceptionally useful method in the field of forensic
drug analysis, as its ability to determine the mass of exceedingly small particles assists in the
classification and quantification of drugs in a sample.
Before analyzation of a blood sample using mass spectrometry can occur, separation of the drugs
from the blood must take place. If sent directly into the mass spectrometer, the blood would create
too many peaks in the results. Not to mention, the blood would make the mass spectrometer too
dirty to provide accurate results (Christopher Tilson, personal communications, March 19, 2016).
Due to these facts, forensic scientists always spate the drugs from the blood sample using one of
two methods. The first method, called liquid extraction, works by adding liquids of different
polarities to the blood sample. By choosing the right solvents, the drugs will separate from the
blood.

The element of the supernatural is one commonly explored during the Elizabethan Era especially
in connection to religion, as ghosts are manifestations of the devil sent to misguide devout
Christians. In Shakespeare s play Hamlet , the ghost of Hamlet Sr. is malevolent and serves to
bring out the barbaric side of his son Hamlet. The appearance of this supernatural force instigates
death and destruction throughout the play, and ultimately leads to the downfall of Hamlet

Warren W. Harding s Life
In a farmhouse near Corsica, Ohio, the United States twenty ninth president was born. Warren
Gamaliel Harding was the eldest of George and Phoebe Harding s eight children. In July of 1891,
Harding got married to Florence Kling. They were married for the remainder of his life. Kling,
whom had married once before, had a child from her previous marriage, but her and Warren did not
have any children together. Warren G. Hardingwas the president from 1921 to 1923 representing

every day. Through these television programs, people are exposed to many issues in the
representation of women, children, gender, sexuality, and race. Racial stereotypes are still
evident today, even though times have changed since the early 1900s. They provide negative or
false assumptions about a variety of groups, as well as ideas that do not necessarily pertain to every
person. Fox Tv s show Glee is an accurate portrayal of the many racial stereotypes that are apparent
in today s society. Glee offers viewers a complex construction of racethat both perpetuates negative
racial stereotypes for humorous purposes and attempts to disrupt stereotypical notions of token
characters. The exposure of race/ethnic groups can be seen throughout various media contexts,
however television offers recurring characters that viewers can identify and continue to form
meaningful bonds with. This involvement stimulates social learning, facilitates persuasion, and can
promote social stereotypes (Tukachinsky, Mastro, Yarchi, 2017). Television can be used for valid
and significant comparisons over time. For example, Blacks and Latinos in particular have been

This book was very realistic. Every aspect of the book tied into each other so well and managed
to do so without contradicting itself with the other books in the series. If you had just crawled
out of a whole knowing nothing about the world you could believe this was a non fiction book.
The main reason I think this is because it gives such detail on the events leading to what s
currently happening. There is a deeper social meaning in this book. It warns us what will
happen if we let a capitalist society get to powerful. This book demonstrates how if a company
or government gets to much strength than the people will lose all control and no longer have a
voice. However it also shows how if a government does get to much power than the people need
to gather the courage to overthrow and take power back for them. One more thing it could
possibly represent is the idea of teamwork. Katniss did not have a chance against the capitol by
herself. But due to help for new and old friends, Katniss has managed to survive for now. In
conclusion, this book was staggering masterpiece of epic proportions. The entwining plot
combined with the deeper meaning behind everything were put together to create a novel that will
be guaranteed to be enjoyed by future generations. This book gets an A+ in my opinion. I would

Introduction: We use our attention to search for things on a day to day basis, whether complex or
basic. Items we are searching for are noticed easier when there are many of the same different
items (distractors) around the one we are searching for. It helps the item we are searching for stand
out. When there is more than one different, kind of distractor around the item (target) it makes it
harder for us to find to find it. Mackintosh (1975) states, in order to have selective attention we learn
to watch or ignore the stimuli depending on its relevance to what we are looking for. We also learn
inverse relationship between the different stimuli. If stimuli increase the other, stimuli will
decrease and vice versa. We use these ideas when we were looking for a certain stimulus and we
have to find it in different scenes of varied other stimuli (distractors). According to Treisman and
Gelade (1980), the theory tells us that attention has to be individually directed to each dependent
stimulus regardless of the distractions surrounding it. One stimulus has to be easily distinguishable
to be detected as different. In order to find the target crowded by the various distractors, we have to
make sure we specifically focus our attention on just finding that one stimulus and not the
distractors. According to Treisman (1982), when searching for the dependent stimulus in a scene

On June 6, 1944, the Allies invaded Normandy to liberate Western Europe from the Nazis that
had taken it over in 1942 (Tucker). There were as many as ten thousand Allied troops involved in

where the invasion would take place (Tucker). Hitler built defenses that included forts, tanks,
guns, and barricades to keep the Allies from invading France (Tucker). This bloodbath war

invasion from the Allies was a significant turning point of WWII because it caused Hitler s

Planning is a key part of teaching. Without a coherent plan lessons may lack structure and direction.
Long and medium term planning are an important part of this and in this rationale I hope to
demonstrate that my planning does indeed have all of these qualities.
The first element to be considered when rationalising this scheme of work is whether or not it
meets the needs of Key Stage 3 pupils. I believe that it does because the attainment focus is all
within Key Stage 3. However, this is only the very simplest level by which we can measure this

this way I think the scheme of work as greater coherence and pupils will be able to see clear
reasons for study topics.
At this point I think it would be a good idea to return to some of the philosophy behind the
scheme of work. Mainly it is thematic in approach. This is where religions are sub divided into
categories and taught like this. For example, festivals, or Holy Books may be used as themes to
teach across the religions. One strength of the thematic approach is that it points to similarities
between religions and I think that this is where most value in RE comes from. However, these
similarities are often far too superficial and can even be slightly arbitrary . For example, some
schools may teach spring festivals when the similarities between these festivals are not the time
of year at which they are held but something far more consequential. If this approach could move
