My Personal Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Personal Essay" might seem like a straightforward task at
first glance, as it revolves around one's own experiences, thoughts, and emotions. However,
delving into the intricacies of self-reflection and effectively conveying personal sentiments can
prove to be a formidable challenge.
The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between introspection and articulation. To
authentically share one's unique narrative requires a deep dive into one's memories, emotions,
and life events. This introspective journey can be emotionally taxing, as individuals may grapple
with complex feelings and memories. It demands a level of vulnerability that can be both
empowering and uncomfortable.
Moreover, the challenge extends beyond mere self-exploration. Effectively translating personal
experiences into a coherent narrative, while maintaining engagement for the reader, is an art in
itself. Striking the right tone, choosing the appropriate words, and structuring the essay to ensure
a seamless flow are essential elements that contribute to the overall difficulty.
Additionally, the personal essay genre often blurs the lines between fact and creativity. Writers
must navigate the delicate balance of presenting an authentic account while incorporating a
compelling storytelling element. This requires a keen understanding of narrative techniques and
an ability to weave a compelling story from the fabric of one's own life.
In essence, the challenge in writing a personal essay about oneself lies not only in the emotional
depth of self-reflection but also in the technical aspects of effective storytelling. It is a journey
that demands a delicate dance between introspection, creativity, and the skillful use of language.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, various resources are available.
Platforms like HelpWriting.net offer a range of services, providing support for crafting
personal essays and other written assignments. Similar essays and a multitude of writing
solutions can be explored, allowing individuals to benefit from the expertise of professional
writers in articulating their unique stories.

Doctor Mckee Character Model
The movie I selected for my case study was The Doctor released in 1991. The main
character, Dr. McKee is a well renowned Heart surgeon. His character is portrayed
as a very self centered person who shows zero empathy towards his patients. His
lack of empathy was seen multiple times in the beginning of the movie; for
instance, when one of his patient ask him a question related to her scars after her
open heart surgery, was ridiculed by Dr. McKee. On another occasion, when group
of interns asks him if he shows emotions towards his patients, he replies by saying
you go in, you cut and that s all . The entire hospitalenvironment appeared to be
based on a physiciancentered model rather than patient centered model. Dr. McKee s

Security Plan For Cyber Security
In relation to defence spending, it s visible that there was a positive increase in the
year succeeding 2007, directly after the attacks. Though this was dramatically
decreased for the following two years, which can be explained by the global
economic downturn which begun in 2008 (Grigor′ev Salikhov, 2009). Therefore it
is not possible to conclude that Estonia directly increased spending on defence by a
significant figure because of the events that took place in 2007, but it can be
deduced that spending has had a gradual rise thereafter and is currently based above
€500 million euro with sufficient proportions being allocated to relevant cyber
defence mediums which have been ongoing since 2007. Table 2.2 illustrates Estonian

Radioactive Waste Of Radioactive Wastes
INTRODUCTION
Radioactive waste contains radioactive substances, which are used for the production
of nuclear power and in other scientific fields such as nuclear fission or nuclear
technology (Hidaka, Yuan, and ebrary, 2012). Currently, although the use of
radioactive materials has provided great benefits to society, the radioactive waste
issue has been widely discussed in terms of being a huge problem that may affect
natural environmental systems, and also human health (Ojovan Knovel, 2011).
According to Sartori (2013), efficient radioactive waste management systems are
needed to provide safe isolation from the contact with the ecosystem as long as
necessary to reduce effects on biological systems; and it involves many steps such as
treatment, conditioning, transportation, storage and disposal of all categories of
radioactive wastes, including administrative, operational and safety related actions
(The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation ANSTO, 2011). It is
known that radioactive waste management activities have to follow current
regulations, which are directly related to waste characterisation that involves
radioactive waste classification. Due to the importance of radioactive waste, this
report addresses a literature review of the management of radioactive waste.
RADIOACTIVE WASTE CLASSIFICATION
Currently, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been used as the
main organization for developing the classification of radioactive waste.
Academic Achievement
Introduction: Academic Achievement is the most important skill in every student s
life. It helps us to discover more about the theories and certain known facts and also
to develop our personal growth. Academic study is a way of exploring, addressing
and expressing ideas and a way of communicating results and enjoys learning. The
aims of Academic Study are to focus in becoming a well qualified degree holder,
developing skills, knowledge and even to enjoy learning. It requires hard work, self
disciplineand time management. So, this essay is mainly based on the several aims
and ways of achieving academic success.

So every second is useful in this process. Another view is self discipline, which helps
to be pro active and honest in his/her process.
Likewise, Academic tasks are being done by self dependent and also by dividing
several teams. Both the tasks are important to ones Academic success. First, if we
take the self dependent, it involves his/her individuality, we ll have a separate
thinking which may be useful for you, but you can t discuss with any one, whether it
is correct or wrong. Alternatively, in the team work process, we can have a group
discussion among our teammates. So that, we ll skip over mistakes and other major
uncertainty. Finally, both the tasks are important in achieving academic studies
successful. In some high schools, they blame the teachers, if a student doesn t
perform well in his/her Academic studies.
Conclusion:
Finally, after viewing and describing the aims and the achievement of the
Academic success, we conclude saying that in becoming a well qualified degree
holder and the task to achieve it, are the highly rewarding aims in Academic
Achievement. Hard work, self discipline and time management are the tasks for
succeeding it. We have also talked about the size of the class, which may be useful
for many of them. With a high level of knowledge, one can lead a social life and can

Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks
Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In
his analysis of companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins
identifies the role of a Level 5 leader as instrumental in the transformation. Collins
identifies this type of leader as an individual who blends extreme personal humility
with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and fearless, these
leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal
glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are
intensely driven towards building a successful company that is capable of
continuing its success in their absence. In his analysis of companies, he identified
that all good companies that became great had Level 5 leaders at the help when
they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their successors such that
the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders who
are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5
leaders are not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins
26). Rather, they are willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and
successors. Under egocentric leaders, Collins noted that companies would achieve
particularly strong growth but they would fall apart immediately after the leader s
exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by finding the best
people and creating a
Chernobyl Meltdown Essay
Analysis of the Chernobyl Meltdown On April 1986, Soviet s Union Chernobyl
nuclear plant exploded letting out a massive amount of radiation that would debate
of all Russian citizens for hundreds of years to come. At exactly 1:21 am. on April,
1986 inChernobyl, a city near the Pripiat River the No. 4 reactor exploded and
released thirty to forty times the radiation of the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombing.
The exact causes of the explosion are not known , however scientists and researchers,
under thorough investigation, have uncovered possible causes to the explosion.1 The
main reason why the explosion occurred was that, the operators of the plant were
attempting to conduct an experiment with the emergency cooling... Show more

At twenty minutes past midnight the operators forgot to set the regulator properly,
it was the second fatal error. Because of the incorrect regulator settings the reactor s
power crashed to 30 MW from 1,000 MW which is too low for the test. At that
point the operators would have abandoned the experiment, but they attempted to
rescue it, for the next time they would be able to conduct would be in one year
only. The senior authorities who had ordered the test would have been furious and
would have found out the regulator problem. So the operators decided, to pull out
the stops to restore the reactor s power.2 Their third fatal mistake, was the pulling
out of control rods. The plant s rule was to have thirty in at all times however they
left all but six. By 1:00 Am the power risen to 200 MW, which was still to low for
the experiment, however the operators continued. In a few minutes they made their
fourth fatal error, by turning on two extra pumps to join the six that wee already
cooling the core. This procedure under such low power caused a massive steam
disorder. Their fifth fatal error was the turning off of the automatic shut off, which
would turn off the reactor. At 1:23 a.m. on Saturday April 26, the workers began the
actual experiment. They made their sixth error, by turning off the last safety system.
It took the shift manager thirty seconds to realize what was happening and shouted at

Value of Time
The value of Time
The value of time is limitless, it cannot be measured. The value of time arises from
the fact that human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span
of time. Each work requires some time. If the work is not finished in time, it may not
be finished at all. That explains why time is so valuable and it should not be lost for
nothing.
Tome goes on like the tide of a river and it never waits for anybody. Lost time can
never be found again. Misuse of time is a great crime and it makes life barren like a
desert. He is really great who makes the most of every moment in useful works.
Success is bound to come to his doorstep.

It moves. What was yesterday is not today. What is today will not be tomorrow.
Yesterday is gone. Today is and tomorrow is yet to come. Yet time is said to have no
holiday. It exists always.
The entire creation moves on according to a time pattern. There is birth, growth
and death. There is time for everything. Plants flower and give fruits. Seasons come
according to time. A child is born, grows into boyhood, adolescence, youth, middle
age and old age according to age and time. Every movement of creation is linked
with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a child become an adult in a
year. Everything is fixed to a time frame.
Time is a free force. It does not wait for any one. It is commonly said that time and
tide waits for no man. Time is money. A minute not usefully spent is an eternal loss.
You can never get back the lost minute. One has to strike the iron when it is hot. The
time flies and never returns. If you waste time it wastes you.
Time is the best medicine , says Ovid. It is said that time heals all wounds and it
even heals what reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative
emotions like fear, anger, envy and jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act
in haste leading to serious consequences. They may repent later, as emotions cool
down. But the damage done is done and remains forever. Even that damage can heal
with the passage of time. People involved may forget and forgive. That is the

Analysis Of Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness

Research Paper
Heart of Darkness is a novel by Joseph Conrad that centers on Marlow, a man who
goes to the Congo for a job opportunity. He meets a man named Kurtz, who is well
known by many. Once he gets to the Congo, he sees colonialism first hand. He sees
that the natives of the country were practically enslaved and forced to work under
very harsh conditions. The two major characters of the novel are Marlow and Kurtz.
There are many minor characters throughout the novel as well.
The novel shows readers how black men and women are referred to in such
animalistic terms. Not even describing them as humans, but savages. They are not
given any names, to the point to that they have no identity. When Marlow speaks
about England, he describes it to be a dreary. Dreary indeed as imperialism is
brought to light in this novel. Ultimately, Marlow becomes complicit in the genocide
and the madness in the Congo, choosing to conceal what he has discovered in Africa
to protect the naivete of a lady. (Baker).
Joseph Conrad implies that there is really no difference between black and white;
that black people are just less advanced than whites. This idea is not really on the
same terms with equality or humanistic values, but for that time and day, Conrad had
differing views from most people. Most Anglo men and women from that period
believed black people to be savages and primitive. The first character to be analyzed

Book Of Acts Act 1 Analysis
Jesus was the most perfect man of all men, the perfect Son of God. Completely
devoted to everyone, especially the weak. He was the most humble man that ever
lived, and not only a servant, but the lowest slave. He completely put others first
before He thought of Himself, the Son of man.Luke seems to portray Jesusas an ideal
man, very appealing to the Greek culture which exalted reason, philosophy, the
human mind, and beauty. Luke s writings were orderly and classical. Luke
addressed his account of the life of Christ and the Acts of the Apostles to a man
named Theophilus, it possesses a style that would appeal to all intelligent gentiles and
would certain appeal to any believer. Theophilus could have been a gentile convert to

There are also statements in Luke that speak of His purity more clearly, like when
the centurion said certainly this was a righteous man (Luke 23:47). The other
Gospel accounts seem to have a different focus in their portrayal of Christ. Luke
also seems to reveal Christianity as a religion for all mankind and not just the
Jews. For example, the lineage of Jesus is traced past Abraham all the way back to
Adam the first man. Jesus is seen in Luke as a friend of sinners and a savior to
anyone who would believe in Him. When considering both of Luke s works it is
clear that he traces the origin, heart, and description of the Christian movement from
Bethlehem to Jerusalem, to Antioch, to Macedonia, to Achaia, to Ephesus, and
finally to Rome, the capital of the world. He examined eyewitnesses, knew
personally and had close contact with the main followers of Christ like Mark and
James, the brother of the Lord, Paul. Silas who is a member of the Jerusalem Church
and no doubt many others.Throughout the history of the Church and especially
during the 1800 s their has been many targeted attacks on the historical
trustworthiness of Luke s writings. As the science of archaeology increased
technologically and archaeological discoveries from the first century were being
uncovered, Luke s writings were emerged as extremely accurate. Luke has been

Analysis Of The Book Epigraph
Epigraph This book is to be neither an accusition nor a confession, and least of all
and adventure, for death is not an adventure to those who stand face to face with it.
It will try simply to tell of a generation of men who, even though they may have
escaped shells, were destroyed by the war (Epigraph 1). o this sets up the context
and intent of the novel and implies that even though a young generation of men
may have survived the war physically, they were undoupbtly destroyed by it
mentally. Chapter One begins with the second company of german soilers fighting
during WW1, resting aftering being releived from the front lines the day before.

Essay on Music in the Sixties
Music in the Sixties
My topic is Music in the Sixties. In my essay I would like to determine that events
that occurred during the 1960 s had a significant effect on some of the music that was
produced. I believe that certain music and musical events derived from peoples
feelings and views on things that occurred during the 60 s. Some of these events
include the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement
, politics, and society as a
whole. There were many different stereotypes and prejudices. There was war going
on, and there were many people who were trying to focus on peace. My main goal
is to show how these events may have influenced people s music, and also to
emphasize how music was used to unify people despite all of the negativity that ...

The site tells who sponsored Woodstock, what different people s opinions were on
the purpose of the festival, and what occurred over the course of the planning and
duration of the concert. The promoters wanted to link the theme of the concert to

In addition to this information we are given the names of the performers who

Poem In The Poisonwood Bible By Barbara Kingsolver
Poisonwood Bible
In which way is sympathy measured? Do we consciously decide who we evoke
pity for? Or is it subconscious in which once emphasizes with another being. Be
Careful. Later on you ll have to decide what sympathy they deserve (1). Barbara
Kingsolver begins the novel The Poisonwood Bible by warning the reader to be
weary of the sympathy the Price family warrants. The opening of a novel is a
handshake, the author s first impression on us as a reader, and in the opening lines
of Poisonwood Bible Kingsolver is quick to grasp the reader s attention. The first
interaction is loaded with foreshadowing, symbolism and a dark, brooding tone.
Quite similarly the ending of a novel is the author s goodbye, and provides the
reader closure, or lack thereof within a novel. Kingsolver escorts the reader out of
the life of the Price family with closure and reassuring. Ruth May echo s Orleanna in
the beginning to leave the reader with erie closure.
Kingsolver begins the novel with intense, vivid imagery, allowing the reader to fully
engulfed in the environment, questioning where such a place exists. Kingsolver s use
of magical realism intertwines reality with fiction as she constructs the setting of the
wild Congo. Every space is filled with life: delicate, poisonous frogs war painted
like skeletons, clutched in copulation, secreting their precious eggs onto dripping
leaves (1). Rich literature is woven into every sentence, loaded with foreshadowing
and symbolism that the reader can only truly comprehend when the novel is over.
The idiosyncratic character of the first opening pages continued to draw the reader
back. Every time the opening is read again it had a different meaning depending on
where the reader is in the book, and what connections have been are made.
The closing of Poisonwood Bible recapitulates all that has happened throughout the
eyes of no other than Ruth May, watching from the trees. She leaves the reader and
he family with peace, she is not angry, she is not upset, she is content. Being dead is
not worse than being alive (538). Ruth May s insightful voice echoes that of her
mothers in the beginning. Ruth May has matured, not only in her diction but her

The Media Of A Middle School Student
As a middle school student, I was oblivious to the unrealistic portrayals in the
media, but I was not able to escape its harmful grasp. It seemed every girl at the
school suffered with body image issues because their perception of beauty is what
they had been taught by society. Anorexia and bulimia were far too common, while
self esteemand confidence were very hard to find. Not only were the girls trying to
become beautiful, they were also trying to act older than they were. Starting at the
extreme, drugs, alcohol, and sex seemed normal; far less extreme were the excessive
amounts of makeup, skimpy outfits, and usage of the proper slang. These girls were
merely doing what the mediahad taught them; they were being, or trying to be,...

Realistic representations of women in the media will teach women to strive to
achieve attainable goals that have positive outcomes. Furthermore, the media s
definition of beautiful is not healthy.
While photo shopping may be commonplace practice, there are those who are
taking a stand. For example, the magazine Verily has made the promise to never
alter the body or facial structure of our models, remove wrinkles or birthmarks, or
change the texture of their skin. We aim to show everyone at their best, but also
firmly believe that your best is not a work of fiction. Verily s column Runway to
Realway takes high fashion styles and makes them practical for all women, they
even use everyday women in the column instead of models (Verily). There are even
individuals who are taking a stand. In an article for ABC News, Davis and Millman
talk about Julia Bluhm, a 14 year old from Waterville, Maine, who collected 25,000
signatures on her petition to have Seventeen produce one spread per month that does
not use photo shopped images (Davis and Millman). Bluhm s petition and Verily are
showing the media that they want to see real and accurate representations of women.
Someone can be beautiful by being fake, but a women s true representation of herself
is far more beautiful than any photo shopped model.
It is true that not everyone in the media is a victim Photoshop.
Environmental Effects Of Coral Reef Bleaching
Coral Reefs have a huge role in our environment, even though they only make up
less than one percent of the oceans ecosystems. They provide shelter for twenty five
percent of marine species, protect shorelines, support fishing industries, provide
money from tourism, and could help scientists discover the next, big, medical
breakthrough. They are so biodiverse, they are referred to as the Tropical
Rainforests of the Oceans . Coralreefs are found in shallow circumtropical waters
along the shore of continents. Corals live in waters that have poor nutrition and they
have certain tolerance levels to water temperature, salinity, UV radiation, opacity, and
nutrient quantities.
All these wonderful benefits of coral reefs are at risk from coral reef bleaching.
Bleaching is bad for the coral because the endosymbiotic algae have a crucial role in
the survival of coral. They provide energy in photosynthate. Bleaching is the
lessening of zooxanthellate invertebrates. When the zooxanthellae are expelled, the
tissues turn white. It generally happens when water is too warm, even though other
things can provoke bleaching.
Climate change is thought to play a role in increased events of coral bleaching
around the world. It can lead to the extinction of many coral species. Climate change
could also cause major reef tracts destruction. Coral reef bleaching events have been
increasing in the past twenty years worldwide. Bleaching is caused by various human
activities and variations in the

Description Of A Mobile Gps Device For Geocaching
CAREER EPISODE 1
a)INTRODUCTION:
THE CHRONOLOGY: August 2014 to November 2014
GEORAPHICAL LOCATION: Mawson Lakes, South Australia
NAME OF THE ORGANISATION: University of South Australia
TITLE: A mobile GPS device for Geocaching
[CE 1.1] This is a career episode which details my experiences and knowledge gained
while working on developing a GPS enabled device for a recreational sport called
Geocaching as part of my unit of study Embedded system design during my final
semester. I worked on this project along with my team mates with whom I shared
common interests in the field of my desire. I was guided by my lecturer Dr. Jason
White during the whole period of this particular development.
b)BACKGROUND
[CE 1.2] GPS enabled mobile device
I chose embedded system design unit due to my inordinate interest in embedded
microcontroller programming. It was one of the requirements of the unit to build a
GPS enabled device that meets the specified requirements for its use in the
recreational sport Geocaching. Geocaching is a modern day treasure hunting or
letterboxing game which basically uses the latest GPS technology to track and find
items located in a remote place, with GPS coordinates provided to the user who is
playing the game. This sport is gaining a wide popularity among the global
audience. As part of the course structure, I was asked to develop a GPS enabled

When Solomon wrote about advertisements that use new realism, back in 1988, he
was more fixated on the visual aspects of appealing to authenticity. That fixation
can be seen in his example: An ad for Miller draft beer tries the same approach,
recreating the effect of an amateur videotape of a wedding celebration. Camera
shots shift suddenly from group to group. Bodies are poorly framed. The color is
washed out. The ad is supposed to strike us as being as real as it gets. However, the
Pop Chips ad is somewhat more self aware and cheesy. It does not attempt to be
realistic by any measures yet it is still able to appeal to authenticity through Katy
Perry. The quote about authenticity in the

Arlie Russell Hochschild s discussion of emotion work explores how social rules
govern human emotions. emotion work applies to the act of trying to evoke or
suppress a feeling while changing the thought associated with emotion, the emotion
itself or following the physical symptom caused by the emotion. This process
influenced by various social situations regarding race, culture and gender, including,
but not limited to concepts of femininity and ideal motherhood. Malacrida and
Boulton s research on Women Perceptions of Childbirth Choices : Competing
Discourses of Motherhood, Sexuality, and Selflessness opens up crucial aspects of
women s identity and the different perception of an ideal mother. Women engage in
an emotion work when making a childbirth choice. In other words, they learn to either
suppress or to promote their feelings to match with the characteristics of an ideal
mother. Moreover, they challenge their thoughts, their emotions and their bodily
reactions to fulfil the social expectations of an excellent mother. Although this
emotion work becomes vigorously demanding as it contradicts another social value
associated with women who accomplish and pleases heteronormative sexual needs, it

The Conventions Of Parents Face Raising Their Children
Essay
Conventions of Parenting in Leave it to Beaver Most modern family films highlight
the hardships that parents face raising their children, which are often then followed
by moments that make parenting the most rewarding. Films often sugar coat events
of how parents may react to certain situation which is a misrepresentation of a family,
but we must keep in mind that films are not real life stories unless they are
documentaries. In this Essay, I will be using Marianne Hirsch s work on the
familial gaze and Sharon Varallo s piece on family photographs as tools in order to
analyse the film Leave it to Beaver. The film Leave it to Beaver released August
1997, is based on the successful Tv series comedy that was released in 1957. I will
be drawing on both Hirsch and Varallo s work which explores the representation of
western and non western families by using photographs, and using their incite to
further strengthen my argument. Not all families are alike, most certainly not in
values, religion, culture, race, just to name a few, but all families have hardships
and it s how those hardships are handled that make a family stronger. A stronger
family often starts with the parents and how they treat one another. For example,
parents are seen as role models to their children and those kids pick up habits, from
their parents, whether they be good or bad. As I analyse the film Leave it to Beaver,
I will be exploring the portrayal of parenting conventions that accurately represent
Negative Self Esteem
Positive self perception and self esteem is crucial to the well being of all
individuals. Therefore, the negative self perception and low self esteem of children
and adolescents who have attracted disability labels is concerning, especially because
these qualities seem to digress as students progress from elementary grades, to middle
years, and to high school. While society has made many strides toward full inclusion
of students with disabilities, it is clear that, for various reasons, simply including
students who attracted disabilitylabels in the classroom is not improving how these
students perceive or feel about themselves. Understanding why and what can be
done is critical to ensure that all students well being, including a positive sense of
self and sense of belonging, is supported by our schools and by society in general.
While the development of self esteem is fundamental for children s and adolescents
adaptive functioning and perceived well being , many children who have attracted
disability labels report negative self perceptions and low self esteem (JemtГҐ, Fugl
Meyer, Г–berg, Dahl, 2009, p. 568). In fact, many of these children have been
taught to hate themselves because of their disability and lack of any abilities deemed
positive (Rodis, Garrod, Boscardin, 2001a, p. 18). They often feel less than those
around them, partly because others perceive them as less than , too. For this, they
feel guilt and embarrassment, frustration and loss of control

The Ontario human rights case is about Micheal bates, he alleged that he was

In the case above, I am gearing towards discrimination all young drivers are not on

or not planning on including all drivers. Even if the insurance company didn t intend

their age, gender, and marital status. Insurance companies like to increase insurance

The prohibited ground will protect Micheal, he was discriminated against because
of his association with a gender, marital status and age. The code prohibits

Ecological Economics Vs. Neoclassical Welfare Economics
Essay
Ecological Economics vs Neoclassical Welfare Economics
In the past, the economic school of thought regarded the resources as unlimited and
focused on more production under the light of the unlimited growth assumption.
Every economic action was suggested to only consider about making more profit.
While the economy and the human population are growing; more natural resources
are used and more pollution is observed. Human become to deal with the results of its
production such as environmental problems and resource scarcity. A debate has
emerged in economics and the mainstream economics is brought into question since
its unlimited growth assumption is collapsed. Ecological economists argue the
neoclassical welfare economics for ignoring the environmental and ethic values by
only focusing on the cost benefit analysis. It also claims that the neoclassical
economics fails to calculate the value of the environmental capital and the loss of the
economic activities on the environment. This paper is going to explain the problems
with the neoclassical welfare economics and the alternatives offered by the ecological
economics in terms of economic growth and environment.
The neoclassical welfare economics explains the economic production and behavior
by using the mainstream terms of economic literature. Specifically, it focuses on the
Pareto efficiency and suggests two theorems related to it. Firstly, the Pareto efficiency
is stated by maximization of preferences under a restricted

Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male Body response In Beauty (Re) Discovers the Male
Body by Susan Bordo, Bordo writes an analysis on the male body in advertising.
Bordo discusses how in the society of advertising and fashion the male body isn t
really seen as a symbol of arousal compared to the female body. She continues saying
how the naked or half naked femalebody is seen as an object of mainstream
consumption (p.299), while the maleboy is just beginning to be a commercial
representation (p.299) object. She also talks about how the percentage of people
viewing these pictures with half naked males mainly only increased in the male
percentage of viewers instead of the females. Bordo continues by adding how women

The sources help to show how looking thin and muscular or fit is the popular trend.
She explains that advertisements and movies have changed to fit the trend and that
she wishes the male body would look more natural rather than a sex object. In Bordo
s opinion the male body should be less sexual and more natural. Although this is a
plausible argument I believe that men in the ads should continue to appear as sex
objects (p.312). It would allow men to strive to look like what the ads show. It will
also motivate the men of our society to be fit. Bordo also believes that men get
aroused by the ads of men in underwear more than women but nowadays a lot of
women get aroused by half naked men. Women do actually survey (p.303) men
more than she thinks they do. Women like to read or look at pictures with men
toned, tan and sexy and fantasize about them. Bordo uses primary and secondary
sources from multiple companies to prove her argument that men rather than be seen
as sexy macho men they rather be seen for how the really look. She also touches
upon how society has changed in media fashion and advertisement concerning the
male body from just females just being the only ones in ads to male and females and
how it affects females in society

The classic tale of the hero s journey can be recognized in almost every situation. It

circumstance, a fictional novel, as well. As an epic voyage, it can be recognized in
the vast majority of books throughout the course of history. One specific example
where it is carefully and intricately exhibited is in Sue Monk Kidd s novel, The
Secret Life of Bees, in which a young woman s search for acceptance and the truth
becomes a heart warming chronicle. Through the obstacles and people she meets,
Lily is able to experience the trials and self fulfilling incidents that are required in the

This part of the monomyth is represented by the archetype of the fairy godmother
or the guardian angel. Mary is a perpetual messenger of god, a virtuous woman who
represents the very ideals of power, struggle, despair, perseverance, and courage.
Mary is considered a religious figure, a woman who sacrificed everything to god.
Lily sees the picture of the Black Mary as a sign from heaven that she needs to go
to Tiburon, where she will find what she is looking for. Lily puts her trust in god, as
the virgin Mary aids her on her quest of self fulfillment The Mary picture gives her
the courage to go to Tiburon in search of her mothers past.
Lily and Rosaleen s heroic journey takes its first major leap when they escape their
old life of hardship and pain, by hitching a ride to Tiburon. This escape represents
the crossing of the first threshold that every hero must experience in order to
proceed toward their final goal. In this case, Lily s ultimate objective is to
understand and come to terms with her lost mother. Lily and Rosaleen get help

The generous farmer represents the universal archetype of helping animals. Although
he does not actually help any animals, he is arguably, a farmer, and
Attica Correctional Facility
In an official report of the events that occurred at Attica Correctional Facility, the

since the Civil War. From September 9th, 1971 to September 13th, 1971 inmates took
control of Attica in hopes of gaining leverage on the demands of obtaining the
removal of state control over the prison, livable conditions, amnesty for crimes
during the rebellion and diversity among correctional staff. For five days, inmates

What the correction officers considered security and correction was the prevailing
theme that created the environment of degradation and dehumanizing living
conditions. Typical life for roughly 2,243 inmates consisted of fourteen to sixteen
hours a day in overcrowded cells, minimal working wages of thirty cents a day with
no further employment training, over regulated activities, censored reading and
media materials, and the right to free choice was nonexistent. When it came to
hygiene, inmates had no privacy when using toilet areas, commode needs where
insufficient, and showers were permitted only once a week. Meals did not meet
nutritional standards, clothing was poor and scanty, and medical services were
offered in an uncaring manner. Visitation was extremely strict, family and friends
were seen through mesh screen which were preceded and followed by strenuous strip
searches of the inmates. As well, there was no significant programming to prepare
inmates for society; Attica did not offer any career training, psychological and mental
assistance, nor drug rehabilitation. Collectively all these conditions led to the
unbearable environment that was made even more dehumanizing, due to institutional
and social racism. The Attica prison population in 1971, was fifty four percent
Black, thirty seven percent White, and approximately nine percent Latino with an all
White correctional staff. Racism was prevalent, it was customary self segregation
among inmates, job assignments were based of color, and discipline was unfair
between prisoners and officers due to racial hostility. A common relationship between
officers and inmates would include ill feelings of hostility, distrust, and prejudice.
White officers from rural areas of New York, only had three weeks of training, and

My Argumentative Analysis
Throughout my life, I have always been an avid reader and a lazy writer. Ever since I
discovered comic books in my younger years, I have passionately engaged myself in
any books I can find. I read through books quickly and I try to delve deeper by going
past the surface of the writing. I generally like to read either realistic or science
fiction and when I read something that interests me, I like to read for hours without
stopping and seldom do I like to take breaks while reading. In the past year, I have
tried to read harder books and more non fiction to become a stronger reader. As a
writer, I often feel unmotivated due to my lack of interest in the topic. My attention
span while writingis quite short so I generally like to take my time when completing

Tao Qian talked about the true significance of life in Drinking Wine V , after
reading the poems he wrote: Drinking Wine V and Reading the Classic of

for nature and his expect for peaceful idyllic life, which may be determined by his

had a very clear understanding of the hypocritical darkness of social personnel. Most

hydrochloric acid for each trial. Although it would be more expensive, the
experiment would be more realistic to what people go through when they get
heartburn. Also, using smaller amounts makes it harder to define whether or not
the data is accurate. Since the units are smaller, it is a bigger difference when the
data is inconsistent. The information gathered from this lab can easily be applied to
the real world. Looking at the data, Rite Aid s antacid was only effective when you
used the same amount of acid as antacid. CVS and Gaviscon s antacid only needed
half of the amount of acid to neutralize. Rite Aid s antacid wouldn t be useful for
consumers with lots of stomach acid/
Advantages Of Tourism Essay
Theme: Tourism
A very good morning to our English for Effective Communication lecturer, Madam
Pushparani Anthony and fellow friends. In this wonderful morning, I would like to

My Personal Essay

  • 1. My Personal Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Personal Essay" might seem like a straightforward task at first glance, as it revolves around one's own experiences, thoughts, and emotions. However, delving into the intricacies of self-reflection and effectively conveying personal sentiments can prove to be a formidable challenge. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between introspection and articulation. To authentically share one's unique narrative requires a deep dive into one's memories, emotions, and life events. This introspective journey can be emotionally taxing, as individuals may grapple with complex feelings and memories. It demands a level of vulnerability that can be both empowering and uncomfortable. Moreover, the challenge extends beyond mere self-exploration. Effectively translating personal experiences into a coherent narrative, while maintaining engagement for the reader, is an art in itself. Striking the right tone, choosing the appropriate words, and structuring the essay to ensure a seamless flow are essential elements that contribute to the overall difficulty. Additionally, the personal essay genre often blurs the lines between fact and creativity. Writers must navigate the delicate balance of presenting an authentic account while incorporating a compelling storytelling element. This requires a keen understanding of narrative techniques and an ability to weave a compelling story from the fabric of one's own life. In essence, the challenge in writing a personal essay about oneself lies not only in the emotional depth of self-reflection but also in the technical aspects of effective storytelling. It is a journey that demands a delicate dance between introspection, creativity, and the skillful use of language. For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate process, various resources are available. Platforms like HelpWriting.net offer a range of services, providing support for crafting personal essays and other written assignments. Similar essays and a multitude of writing solutions can be explored, allowing individuals to benefit from the expertise of professional writers in articulating their unique stories. His character is portrayed as a very self centered person who shows zero empathy towards his patients. His lack of empathy was seen multiple times in the beginning of the movie; for instance, when one of his patient ask him a question related to her scars after her open heart surgery, was ridiculed by Dr. McKee. On another occasion, when group of interns asks him if he shows emotions towards his patients, he replies by saying you go in, you cut and that s all . The entire hospitalenvironment appeared to be based on a physiciancentered model rather than patient centered model. Dr. McKee s perspective changed
  • 3. Security Plan For Cyber Security In relation to defence spending, it s visible that there was a positive increase in the year succeeding 2007, directly after the attacks. Though this was dramatically decreased for the following two years, which can be explained by the global economic downturn which begun in 2008 (Grigor′ev Salikhov, 2009). Therefore it is not possible to conclude that Estonia directly increased spending on defence by a significant figure because of the events that took place in 2007, but it can be deduced that spending has had a gradual rise thereafter and is currently based above €500 million euro with sufficient proportions being allocated to relevant cyber defence mediums which have been ongoing since 2007. Radioactive Waste Of Radioactive Wastes INTRODUCTION Radioactive waste contains radioactive substances, which are used for the production of nuclear power and in other scientific fields such as nuclear fission or nuclear technology (Hidaka, Yuan, and ebrary, 2012). Currently, although the use of radioactive materials has provided great benefits to society, the radioactive waste issue has been widely discussed in terms of being a huge problem that may affect natural environmental systems, and also human health (Ojovan Knovel, 2011). According to Sartori (2013), efficient radioactive waste management systems are needed to provide safe isolation from the contact with the ecosystem as long as necessary to reduce effects on biological systems; and it involves many steps such as treatment, conditioning, transportation, storage and disposal of all categories of radioactive wastes, including administrative, operational and safety related actions (The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation ANSTO, 2011). It is known that radioactive waste management activities have to follow current regulations, which are directly related to waste characterisation that involves radioactive waste classification. Due to the importance of radioactive waste, this report addresses a literature review of the management of radioactive waste. RADIOACTIVE WASTE CLASSIFICATION Currently, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been used as the main organization for developing the classification of radioactive waste.

  • 7. Leadership At Toyota And Starbucks Good to Great Companies: Level 5 Leadership at Toyota and Starbucks Part a In his analysis of companies that are able to achieve greatness, James Collins identifies the role of a Level 5 leader as instrumental in the transformation. Collins identifies this type of leader as an individual who blends extreme personal humility with intense professional will (21). While they are willful and fearless, these leaders are also modest and humble. The leader is less interested in personal glorification and is more interested in the performance of the company. They are intensely driven towards building a successful company that is capable of continuing its success in their absence. In his analysis of companies, he identified that all good companies that became great had Level 5 leaders at the help when they transformed. The leaders are interested in building up their successors such that the company continues on a successful path. This is in contrast with leaders who are interested in the short term success of a company during their tenure. Level 5 leaders are not concerned with their own reputation for personal greatness (Collins 26). Rather, they are willing to share credit for their success with colleagues and successors. Under egocentric leaders, Collins noted that companies would achieve particularly strong growth but they would fall apart immediately after the leader s exit. However, Level 5 leaders seek to obtain consistent results by finding the best people and creating a

At exactly 1:21 am. on April, 1986 inChernobyl, a city near the Pripiat River the No. 4 reactor exploded and released thirty to forty times the radiation of the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombing. The exact causes of the explosion are not known , however scientists and researchers, under thorough investigation, have uncovered possible causes to the explosion.1 The main reason why the explosion occurred was that, the operators of the plant were attempting to conduct an experiment with the emergency cooling... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At twenty minutes past midnight the operators forgot to set the regulator properly, it was the second fatal error. Because of the incorrect regulator settings the reactor s power crashed to 30 MW from 1,000 MW which is too low for the test. At that point the operators would have abandoned the experiment, but they attempted to rescue it, for the next time they would be able to conduct would be in one year only. The senior authorities who had ordered the test would have been furious and would have found out the regulator problem. So the operators decided, to pull out the stops to restore the reactor s power.2 Their third fatal mistake, was the pulling out of control rods. The plant s rule was to have thirty in at all times however they left all but six. By 1:00 Am the power risen to 200 MW, which was still to low for the experiment, however the operators continued. In a few minutes they made their fourth fatal error, by turning on two extra pumps to join the six that wee already cooling the core. This procedure under such low power caused a massive steam disorder. Their fifth fatal error was the turning off of the automatic shut off, which would turn off the reactor. At 1:23 a.m. on Saturday April 26, the workers began the actual experiment. They made their sixth error, by turning off the last safety system. The value of time arises from the fact that human life is short but he has to do a lot of works within the short span of time. Each work requires some time. Every movement of creation is linked with time. One cannot grow paddy in a month nor can a child become an adult in a year. Everything is fixed to a time frame. Time is a free force. It is said that time heals all wounds and it even heals what reason cannot. All human beings are emotional. When negative emotions like fear, anger, envy and jealousy overtake them, they lose reason and act in haste leading to serious consequences. They may repent later, as emotions cool down. But the damage done is done and remains forever. Even that damage can heal with the passage of time. People involved may forget and forgive. That is the importance of
  • 10. Analysis Of Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness Shelly Pyakurel Ellen Stockstill English 4 DC 27 April 2015 Research Paper Heart of Darkness is a novel by Joseph Conrad that centers on Marlow, a man who goes to the Congo for a job opportunity. He meets a man named Kurtz, who is well known by many. Once he gets to the Congo, he sees colonialism first hand. He sees that the natives of the country were practically enslaved and forced to work under very harsh conditions. The two major characters of the novel are Marlow and Kurtz. There are many minor characters throughout the novel as well. The novel shows readers how black men and women are referred to in such animalistic terms. Not even describing them as humans, but savages. They are not given any names, to the point to that they have no identity. When Marlow speaks about England, he describes it to be a dreary. Dreary indeed as imperialism is brought to light in this novel. Ultimately, Marlow becomes complicit in the genocide and the madness in the Congo, choosing to conceal what he has discovered in Africa to protect the naivete of a lady. (Baker). Joseph Conrad implies that there is really no difference between black and white; that black people are just less advanced than whites. • 11. Book Of Acts Act 1 Analysis Jesus was the most perfect man of all men, the perfect Son of God. Completely devoted to everyone, especially the weak. He was the most humble man that ever lived, and not only a servant, but the lowest slave. He completely put others first before He thought of Himself, the Son of man.Luke seems to portray Jesusas an ideal man, very appealing to the Greek culture which exalted reason, philosophy, the human mind, and beauty. Luke s writings were orderly and classical. Luke addressed his account of the life of Christ and the Acts of the Apostles to a man named Theophilus, it possesses a style that would appeal to all intelligent gentiles and would certain appeal to any believer. There are also statements in Luke that speak of His purity more clearly, like when the centurion said certainly this was a righteous man (Luke 23:47). The other Gospel accounts seem to have a different focus in their portrayal of Christ. Luke also seems to reveal Christianity as a religion for all mankind and not just the Jews. For example, the lineage of Jesus is traced past Abraham all the way back to Adam the first man. Jesus is seen in Luke as a friend of sinners and a savior to anyone who would believe in Him. When considering both of Luke s works it is clear that he traces the origin, heart, and description of the Christian movement from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, to Antioch, to Macedonia, to Achaia, to Ephesus, and finally to Rome, the capital of the world. He examined eyewitnesses, knew personally and had close contact with the main followers of Christ like Mark and James, the brother of the Lord, Paul. Silas who is a member of the Jerusalem Church and no doubt many others.Throughout the history of the Church and especially during the 1800 s their has been many targeted attacks on the historical trustworthiness of Luke s writings. In my essay I would like to determine that events that occurred during the 1960 s had a significant effect on some of the music that was produced. I believe that certain music and musical events derived from peoples feelings and views on things that occurred during the 60 s. Some of these events include the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement , politics, and society as a whole. There were many different stereotypes and prejudices. There was war going on, and there were many people who were trying to focus on peace. Or is it subconscious in which once emphasizes with another being. Be Careful. Later on you ll have to decide what sympathy they deserve (1). Barbara Kingsolver begins the novel The Poisonwood Bible by warning the reader to be weary of the sympathy the Price family warrants. The opening of a novel is a handshake, the author s first impression on us as a reader, and in the opening lines of Poisonwood Bible Kingsolver is quick to grasp the reader s attention. The first interaction is loaded with foreshadowing, symbolism and a dark, brooding tone. Quite similarly the ending of a novel is the author s goodbye, and provides the reader closure, or lack thereof within a novel. Kingsolver escorts the reader out of the life of the Price family with closure and reassuring. Ruth May echo s Orleanna in the beginning to leave the reader with erie closure. Kingsolver begins the novel with intense, vivid imagery, allowing the reader to fully engulfed in the environment, questioning where such a place exists. Kingsolver s use of magical realism intertwines reality with fiction as she constructs the setting of the wild Congo. Every space is filled with life: delicate, poisonous frogs war painted like skeletons, clutched in copulation, secreting their precious eggs onto dripping leaves (1). Rich literature is woven into every sentence, loaded with foreshadowing and symbolism that the reader can only truly comprehend when the novel is over. The idiosyncratic character of the first opening pages continued to draw the reader back. Every time the opening is read again it had a different meaning depending on where the reader is in the book, and what connections have been are made. The closing of Poisonwood Bible recapitulates all that has happened throughout the eyes of no other than Ruth May, watching from the trees. She leaves the reader and he family with peace, she is not angry, she is not upset, she is content. Being dead is not worse than being alive (538). All these wonderful benefits of coral reefs are at risk from coral reef bleaching. Bleaching is bad for the coral because the endosymbiotic algae have a crucial role in the survival of coral. They provide energy in photosynthate. Bleaching is the lessening of zooxanthellate invertebrates. When the zooxanthellae are expelled, the tissues turn white. It generally happens when water is too warm, even though other things can provoke bleaching. Climate change is thought to play a role in increased events of coral bleaching around the world. It can lead to the extinction of many coral species. Climate change could also cause major reef tracts destruction. The Conventions Of Parents Face Raising Their Children Essay Conventions of Parenting in Leave it to Beaver Most modern family films highlight the hardships that parents face raising their children, which are often then followed by moments that make parenting the most rewarding. Films often sugar coat events of how parents may react to certain situation which is a misrepresentation of a family, but we must keep in mind that films are not real life stories unless they are documentaries. In this Essay, I will be using Marianne Hirsch s work on the familial gaze and Sharon Varallo s piece on family photographs as tools in order to analyse the film Leave it to Beaver. The film Leave it to Beaver released August 1997, is based on the successful Tv series comedy that was released in 1957. I will be drawing on both Hirsch and Varallo s work which explores the representation of western and non western families by using photographs, and using their incite to further strengthen my argument. Not all families are alike, most certainly not in values, religion, culture, race, just to name a few, but all families have hardships and it s how those hardships are handled that make a family stronger. A stronger family often starts with the parents and how they treat one another. For example, parents are seen as role models to their children and those kids pick up habits, from their parents, whether they be good or bad. As I analyse the film Leave it to Beaver, I will be exploring the portrayal of parenting conventions that accurately represent

Therefore, the negative self perception and low self esteem of children and adolescents who have attracted disability labels is concerning, especially because these qualities seem to digress as students progress from elementary grades, to middle years, and to high school. While society has made many strides toward full inclusion of students with disabilities, it is clear that, for various reasons, simply including students who attracted disabilitylabels in the classroom is not improving how these students perceive or feel about themselves. Understanding why and what can be done is critical to ensure that all students well being, including a positive sense of self and sense of belonging, is supported by our schools and by society in general. Specifically, it focuses on the Pareto efficiency and suggests two theorems related to it. Firstly, the Pareto efficiency is stated by maximization of preferences under a restricted

I wanted to see if the website itself was user friendly for I find that it s easy to lose interest if the site you re on has distracting pop ups or have links that do not work. Bordo discusses how in the society of advertising and fashion the male body isn t really seen as a symbol of arousal compared to the female body. She continues saying how the naked or half naked femalebody is seen as an object of mainstream consumption (p.299), while the maleboy is just beginning to be a commercial representation (p.299) object. She also talks about how the percentage of people viewing these pictures with half naked males mainly only increased in the male percentage of viewers instead of the females. She explains that advertisements and movies have changed to fit the trend and that she wishes the male body would look more natural rather than a sex object. In Bordo s opinion the male body should be less sexual and more natural. Although this is a plausible argument I believe that men in the ads should continue to appear as sex objects (p.312). It would allow men to strive to look like what the ads show. It will also motivate the men of our society to be fit. Bordo also believes that men get aroused by the ads of men in underwear more than women but nowadays a lot of women get aroused by half naked men. Women do actually survey (p.303) men more than she thinks they do. Women like to read or look at pictures with men toned, tan and sexy and fantasize about them. Bordo uses primary and secondary sources from multiple companies to prove her argument that men rather than be seen as sexy macho men they rather be seen for how the really look. She also touches upon how society has changed in media fashion and advertisement concerning the male body from just females just being the only ones in ads to male and females and how it affects females in society

Typical life for roughly 2,243 inmates consisted of fourteen to sixteen hours a day in overcrowded cells, minimal working wages of thirty cents a day with no further employment training, over regulated activities, censored reading and media materials, and the right to free choice was nonexistent. When it came to hygiene, inmates had no privacy when using toilet areas, commode needs where insufficient, and showers were permitted only once a week. Meals did not meet nutritional standards, clothing was poor and scanty, and medical services were offered in an uncaring manner. Visitation was extremely strict, family and friends were seen through mesh screen which were preceded and followed by strenuous strip searches of the inmates. As well, there was no significant programming to prepare inmates for society; Attica did not offer any career training, psychological and mental assistance, nor drug rehabilitation. Collectively all these conditions led to the unbearable environment that was made even more dehumanizing, due to institutional and social racism. Ever since I discovered comic books in my younger years, I have passionately engaged myself in any books I can find. I read through books quickly and I try to delve deeper by going past the surface of the writing. I generally like to read either realistic or science fiction and when I read something that interests me, I like to read for hours without stopping and seldom do I like to take breaks while reading. In the past year, I have tried to read harder books and more non fiction to become a stronger reader. As a writer, I often feel unmotivated due to my lack of interest in the topic. My attention span while writingis quite short so I generally like to take my time when completing essays.

This means that the amounts of acid and antacids may not have been equal for each trial. The size of the drops of acid and antacid could have been different. There are many ways that every experiment could be improved. One way would be to have two name brand antacids and two generic antacids. This would ve helped us to figure out whether or not generic brands were better than name brands. Another way to improve the experiment would be to use larger amounts of the hydrochloric acid for each trial. Although it would be more expensive, the experiment would be more realistic to what people go through when they get heartburn. Also, using smaller amounts makes it harder to define whether or not the data is accurate. Since the units are smaller, it is a bigger difference when the data is inconsistent. The information gathered from this lab can easily be applied to the real world. Looking at the data, Rite Aid s antacid was only effective when you used the same amount of acid as antacid. CVS and Gaviscon s antacid only needed half of the amount of acid to neutralize. Rite Aid s antacid wouldn t be useful for consumers with lots of stomach acid/
