Gourd-Shaped Wine Ewer With Inlaid Grapevine
The gourd shaped wine ewer with inlaid grapevine is a ceramic piece that is currently on display
at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. This piece is from the Goryeo dynasty of
13th century Korea. It is made from stoneware that was coated with a celadon glaze. A piece like
this would have typically had a lid, but like most similar pieces it was lost over time. The
methods of making such pieces has changed and shifted over the years. Korean pottery has it s
own presence as well as having taken inspiration from other cultures and locations. The use of
Ceramics in Koreastarted around 7000 BC during the Old Josean Dynasty. From then on it became
a very important part of their culture and heritage. Many of their ceramic traditions... Show more

The ceramic artists will have what is called a Kosa Ceremony where they will offer food and
wine to the kilns which they believe give the fire more spirit which creates better fired pieces.
The most typical kiln used in Korea is called a climbing kiln. A long trench is dug up the side of
an area of sloping land, a tunnel of brick and clay is built over the trench. There were many
openings along the tunnel for pine wood to be inserted to fuel the kiln. At the top of the kiln
there was an opening that was used to release the smoke. The firing process took about a week or
more to slowly get the temperature to reach 1150 to 1300 degrees; the temperature needed to
produce stoneware. After the firing was finished the artists would have to wait a few days to for
the fired pieces to cool down enough to retrieve

Personal Property Ethics
Responsibility in utilizing personal property, as a Christian should following a moderate approach
that considers ways that are holy, just, and loving, explains Hill (2008). Hill defines personal
property involves the assumption of, development, and ownership of a natural resources (2008,
p.233). The difficulty in dealing with ethics toward propertyis the immaturely nature in which
modern property is becoming. As explained by Hill, primeval property was physical however
property as defined in today s culture is intangible (2008). Addressing the spiritual and moral
dilemmas that property brings can be difficult.

Strategic Direction On The United States
The United States will not be able to effectively rebalance the Joint Force in 2025 unless
sequestration is reversed. The current U.S. strategic direction has prompted a shift of military
resources to the Asia Pacific. Globalization, cyber attacks and advances in technology will further
challenge the Joint Forces in the next ten years. It is imperative that the U.S. Joint Forces be
adequately funded in order to identify and develop critical technology, establish policies and
maintain adequate force structure to rebalance the Joint Force in 2025.
Diminishing resources and lack of predictability within the military budget process will introduce
significant strategic, military and political risk. Joint Forces capability, capacity and readiness
requirements are derived from the National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy and the
Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and provide the framework for Joint Force future strategy.
Sequestration has severely impacted the Joint Forces ability to plan and program resources
necessary to achieve these strategic objectives. Sequestration requires the DOD to execute across
the board cuts from all accounts and has limited the department s ability to move resources to
accounts with greater needs. This has not only impacted readiness and force structure, but has also
reduced investment in new weapon systems. Research and development is necessary in order to
field new technologies that will enable the Joint Force to keep ahead of

Public Administration Vs. Private Administration
Introduction
Public Administration is like any other administration, it is a process of translating the policies in
the overall interests of the general public; which are then carried out into the results that can either
benefit or hinder the general well being of society and the people living within this democratic
monarchy. Although, in order to distinguish what is public from what is private and what is politics
from what is administration, you have to know who is being affected and how they are being
influenced.
Issue for analysis
Public Administration is the process within a governmental setup, which tends to hold a strong hold
over the general populous of a community, as individuals; while Private Administration is a more...

If the government refuses to sponsor health insurance programs; such as Medicare and Medicaid,
under the PPACA, then public consumers; such as ourselves, will otherwise go without medical
insurance and perhaps, without necessary medical care.
The insurance companies will undoubtedly refuse to meet the requirements that were put into place
under this act; thus declining to reimburse doctors with the maximum payout; or Minimum
Essential Coverage (MEC), based on their own algorithms. With this act in place, the price of a
medical commodity; such as a prescription, or service; such as vision and or dental care, continues
to remain low and or competitive.
Recommendation [or Recommendations]
What is Trump s solution for ObamaCare, if this disastrous act collapses under its own weight ? If
everything about this act truly fraudulent and broken, then maybe we should just throw it away
and forget about it; or perhaps, or we can simply afford to fix what s broken about it .
After carefully reviewing the pros and cons of ObamaCare, it was my decision that ObamaCare
should not be repealed and replaced; but simply modified to fill any hairline fractures within the
infrastructure. Most of the disadvantages of ObamaCare can easily be seen as

Southwest Airlines Seniority
Southwest is the fourth largest carrier in America
The Southwest AirTran merger valued at over $3billion. (Pearlson and Saunders 97)
With very little route overlap between Dallas based Southwest and Orlando based AirTran, the
acquisition could increase Southwest s network by 25% and boost its weekly departures already
more than twice those of any other LCC to about 26,000. Southwest generated $11.2 billion in
revenue for the 12 months ending June 30; AirTran generated $2.5 billion (Compart, 2010)
AirTran had flights to International vacation destinations such as Aruba, Puerto Rico and the
Bahamas, (Perlson Saunders, 2013, p 97)) Airtran also had its services to a few more international
destinations such as Cancun, Mexico, and many Caribbean destinations, this would give Southwest

This is absolutely true and there cannot be a debate on this. The pilots of Southwest expect to be
on top of the list in terms of seniority because Southwest is the parent company, AirTran have
pilots with international destination experience and these pilots will want to head the list as they
have more real time experience. Southwest had to decide whether to merge pilots from both the
organizations together or to place AirTran s pilots below the Southwest pilots. Either way, either
of the organization s pilots would be affected. It was a very crucial decision for Southwest because
they have to keep in mind both the employees before coming up with a result. In November 2011,
Southwest Airlines more than 6,000 pilots and AirTran Airways1,700 pilots overwhelmingly
approved a plan to combine the seniority lists of the two carriers, with п¬Ѓve out of six pilots

to lease a rental home with the help of the voucher and the voucher amount depends on the family s

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Qualitative Research...
A research paradigm is a way of observing the world. It is composed of certain philosophical
assumptions that guide and direct action and thinking. Traditional the main worldviews and
paradigms that are presented as being fundamentally opposed are positivism/postpositivism and
constructivism/interpretivism (Creswell Plano Clark, 2007; Morgan, 2007). Mixed methods research
has been addressed as a response to the ongoing debates discussing the advantages and
disadvantages of qualitative versus quantitative researchas a result of the paradigm battle.
The positivist notion is that a singular reality and only one truth that are out there waiting to be
objectively and value free discovered which underpins quantitative research methods. In contrast ...

Using a paradigm this way relates it directly to research as an epistemological position (Morgan,
2007). In this way a paradigm guides research efforts and the exclusion of other paradigms (Kuhn,
1962). Consequently, from the subjective multiplicity of interpretivism over the contextualized
causal understanding of realism to the objective and measurable reality of positivism, paradigms
could be construed as dogmatic and as requiring particular research methods and even excluding
others (Greene et al., 2001). Kuhn (1962) noted that in that sense, a paradigm could restrict
academic creativity and curiosity, and even blind researchers to aspects of new phenomena and
theories, thus limiting the imagination (Mills, 1959). Even if not verbalized or made explicit,
research questions reflects the researcher s epistemological understanding of the world. Also, any
interpretation of findings will show the researchers underlying philosophies drawing on and
extending the notion that all knowledge is knowledge from some point of view (Fishman, 1978;
Mounce, 1997). Most notable when regarding pragmatism as an alternate paradigm is that it
evades the argumentative issues of truth and reality. Pragmatism accepts, in a philosophical stance,
that there are both single and multiple realities exposed to empirical investigation, thus,
positioning itself toward practical problem solving in the real world (Dewey, 1925; Rorty, 1999;
Creswell Plano Clark, 2007). This allows the researcher to be free of practical and conceptual
constrictions imposed by the forced choice duality between positivism and constructivism (Creswell
Plano Clark, 2007), leaving the researchers outside the prison of a particular research method or
technique (Robson, 1993). The quantifiable world relates more closely to existentialism in the
pragmatists

Chesapeake And New England Colonies Essay
A community is a group of people who work together towards a common goal and share a
common interest. Lack of such a quality can and most likely will cause a struggling town or city to
fall into the extremes of poverty and wealth. The New England community was so strong and so
supportive in comparison to that of the Chesapeake Bay, that it is no wonder they developed into
two distinctly different cultures before the year 1700. The Chesapeake region developed into a land
of plantations and money driven owners, with the elite wealthy, almost no middle class, and those in
poverty creating the population. New England, on the other hand, had developed into a religion
and family based society comprised of mostly middle class families by 1700.... Show more content

The motives that drove the Pilgrims and Puritans away from anything familiar and the trust they
placed in God only proved that they were going to make their life in the new world work, no
matter what. Not everyone in England was facing a harsh persecution; many travelers came to the
New World with high hopes of money, which led to numerous conflicts. It was a land for the rich
to get richer. Most of the settlers bound for Virginiaand the Southern colonies had a get rich or
die trying type of attitude. The only thing tearing them from home was a flimsy promise of gold
that may or may not be there. The motive of such people is so radically different. There were no
pacts of agreement, no common laws that kept them in a community once landing. This led the
men to never develop any sense of belonging with their fellow men, causing a distinct survival
society by 1700. Every man was for himself. It was a bitter game displaying the survival of the
richest.
The travelers from England that headed for the Chesapeake Bay were predominantly men,
which led to an unbalanced society and lack of wives to promote a family based culture. The
passenger list for one boat had a sex ratio of sixty four men to eleven women. Not only was there
a radical imbalance, only four of the men were above forty, while only eight total were above
thirty (Doc. C). That left fifty six young males headed to a new land with only their self

Hawaii is the southernmost state of the United States, and the westernmost after Alaska. It is also,
along with Alaska, the only one that is outside of the United States and lacks a border with any
other American state. Hawaii is the only American state that is distinct from the mainland, is
completely surrounded by water, continues to grow surface due to lava flows mainly from Kilauea
and is entirely in the tropics.
Apart from Easter Island, Hawaii is further away from land than any other landmass on Earth.
Hawaii s highest mountain, Mauna Kea is 4205 m above sea level. but is higher than Mount

Geology
All of Hawaii s islands have been created by volcanoes that reside from the seabed, according to
the theory of hot spots. The theory argues that the Pacific tectonic plate moves towards the
northwest while the hot spot stays still, which slowly creates new volcanoes. The latest volcanic
eruption outside the main island of Hawaii occurred at Haleakala in Maui in the late 18th

2.5REVIEWS ON RFID IN WAREHOUSE
The RFID system mainly includes three parts: reader, antenna, and RFID tag, as shown. Because
of the uniqueness of the RFID tag, the reader can locate and track the target once it is attached on
an RFID tag. Passive tags are used to attach on the target object because they are much cheaper,
long lived, lightweight and have a smaller foot print. The reader can communicated with host
computer through RS232.
1.An RFID interrogator, or more often called an RFID reader, is a RF transmitting and receiving
device used to communicate with an RFID Tag. The device was named an interrogator because it
interrogates the tags. The term reader is a more colloquial term, but is sometimes misleading in
that many of these devices also have the ability to encode, or write information to an RFID Tag. A
reader basically acts as an RF sensor because it can communicate with RFID tags that are within its
range and is designed to interface with an information process system.

George Washington, John Adams, And Thomas Jefferson
George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. Not only is this a list of US Presidents
but it is also a list of three of the most well known Founding Fathers. Yes, they have their reasons to
be because each one of them have numerous achievements and have accomplished many things that
others have not. But one Founding Father often over looked, and not just because he stands five
feet four inches tall, is James Madison. With all due respect, James Madison has accomplishments
that stand just as well against the test of time. James Madison to me is one of the most important
Founding Fathers. Please allow me to explain why I chose Mr. James Madison, the background and

contributions are still important today.

Madison has accomplished many great things in his life that have had an effect on the United States

Protein is the most abundant substance in the human body. Protein are nearly the component of
every cell and are often referred to as building block because of their in development and repair
of bone muscle skin and blood cells. Protein from food is broken down into amino acids by the
digestive system. Amino acids are used to build and repair muscles, for making hormones, red
blood cells, hair and other tissues. Adequate protein intake is also important for a healthy
immune system. Because protein is a source of calories, it will be used for energy.
Carbohydrates can be grouped into two categories: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates
are sugars, complex carbohydrates consist of starch and dietary fibre. Carbohydrate provides the
body with energy that used to fuel it. Since carbohydrate is our preferred sources of fuel, our
body must find another source of energy when we do not eat enough. As a result, the body will
break down stored fat in a process called ketosis. Ketosis produces a fuel called ketones and is an
important process that ensure sufficient energy is provided to the brain. When adequate
carbohydrate intake continues for an extended period of time excessive ketone are produced
resulting in acid acidic blood and a condition called ketoacidosis. Fibre is the indigestible portion

The Poetry Of Elizabeth Barrett Browning

more for their independence, courage, and accomplishments than Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
She passionately wrote about the issues of social injustice and later on in her life she expressed

Edward Moulton Barrett, who obtained large amounts of money from his Jamaican sugar
plantations. Elizabeth lived a very privileged childhood in the country with her eleven younger

Fable For Tomorrow Summary
A Health Crisis; Facing Genetic Modification
Industrial Agriculture has casted a shadow of death upon the health of our environment and
bodies (Carson 49). In her essay Fable for Tomorrow, naturalist Rachel Carson alerts the public on
the inevitable danger rooted from the use of pesticides to the environment. She argues that the
interference with nature using GMO and pesticides create a danger for us, internally and
externally. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are living organisms whose genetic material
has been artificially manipulated through genetic engineering ( GMO Facts ). For instance, if you
have a tomato, and you want it to stay fresh for a longer period in cold temperatures you can take
the gene of a salmon that allows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By educating people on GMO they learn how to identify these products and therefore, how to
avoid them. People can do this through public campaigning and voting against GMOs. One way
to identify if the food is free of genetic modification is by looking for the NON GMO project
stamp on the products case. We can also enforce building community farms in neighborhoods
where the residences can help to garden and care for the plants. This way people can get clean,
healthy food which they will benefit from and so will the surrounding environment. Most of their
fruits and vegetables would not be store bought, meaning the large GMO companies like
Monsanto, Bayer, and Syngenta will lose their buyers and profits will hopefully decrease. By doing
this more people will demand fresh, natural plants that will keep them

Hplc Determination Of Caffeine On Analgesic Powders
CHE 333 03 11/21/16 Formal Report HPLC Determination of Caffeine in Analgesic Powders
ABSTRACT: Components containing caffeine were composed into stock solutions. These
solutions were diluted to 1: 10 substance: mobile phase. A stock solution of caffeine was diluted
1:50. A sequence of diluted caffeine solutions were prepared for use as a standard (ppm): 1, 2, 4,
and 10. Solutions of acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, and Goody s Powder were developed to
differentiate chromatographic peaks observed. These solutions were subjected to HPLC for
examination of the observed peak area and retention time for the set of compounds. Comparison of
retention time allowed for the differentiation of peaks observed. The peak area obtained was
utilized to determine the relative concentration of caffeine present in Goody s Powder based on the
relationship obtained in the standard. The content of caffeine present in Goody s Powder by
percent weight was identified. INTRODUCTION: The separation of molecular particulates from

Continuous Quality Improvement Essay
Nothing in life remains the same things are constantly changing. In order for company to remain
competitive they must make quality improvements to keep up with the changes. Health care is no

Different from other company healthcare does have a product to sale. The service that is received

Native Son Marxism Essay
I am going to be using Marxism to interpret the book, Native Son. When talking about Marxism, it
generally deals with gender, class, and race. In the book, Native Son, there are many examples of
Marxism that have to do with underestimating and unfairness. This was evident especially when
dealing with Chicago in the 1930 s and 1940 s when Africans were treated unfairly and were
demoted.
In Native Son, Bigger, the main character, and his family are being over priced for a rundown, one
bedroom flat unsuitable to live in because of their race. Mr. Dalton, Bigger s boss, owns the
company that sold the Thomas s their flat. The Thomas family along with a lot of other Africans in
Chicago at the time, were forced to live in south side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book, Native Son, Bigger believes that all whites are the same: just as rude, just as mean, just
as irresponsible, and just as violent. Bigger did not just come up with these accusations out of
nowhere. White people in his childhood treated him differently and thought of him as a pest. To
Bigger, white people would always think they were above him. After years of being told you are
bad at something, sometime you start to believe it yourself, and after a while it would be hard not
to go crazy being treated like you were an animal. Africans around this time did not really think of
themselves better than what the whites were saying about them. To him, white woman are just
snobby princesses who spend all their money on clothes and things that are not needed. In his mind,
the white men are rude, overpowering, cocky, and violent. He has these stereotypes because that is
how all whites have acted near him.
When it comes to class, the Thomas family is among the lowest. They live in a one bedroom flat
with two beds they all four share. The Thomas family barely has a few dollars to their name, and
then there is the Dalton family. They have all the money then need. They proceed to give as much
as they can to charities because it makes them feel more humane taking the money of poor, low
class Africans. They donate ping pong tables to the south side, but do not even think of reducing

S1: Every child in this world has the right to be safe and free from brutality. One reason why
emotional abuse is the most hidden form of child mistreatment is because emotional abuse doesn t
involve incident or visible injury. Emotional abuse can occur if there is physical abuse or not, but
most of the time there is an imbricate. Emotional child abuse has a lot of consequences. It includes:
long lasting pattern of sadness, low self esteem, unsuitable and problematic relationships, anxiety,
and lack of recognition. Emotional abuse can have a high likelihood of harming children s mental
and physical well being. Types of emotional abuse are ignoring, rejecting, and terrorizing. Each one
has a different meaning. Ignoring is to refuse to show a response or interaction to the child.
Rejecting means scorning the child s needs. Terrorizing is to force the child to do something by

Netflix Risks
Netflix
Netflix was founded in 1997 and is headquartered in Los Gatos, California. Netflix is a company

Finally, the other option for Netflix is that, if they are not sure if interest rates are going to go up or
down, they can still hedge against this risk by issuing a long term callable bond so that if interest
rates do drop significantly Netflix can call its debt back and reissue at the lower rate.
Another way that Netflix has been and plans to continue expanding its membership is by
offering its services abroad. In fact, Netflix has already entered the Canadian market and is in
the process of offering its services in the United Kingdom. Obviously this is great news for
Netflix shareholders however going international also brings additional risks. One of the major
risks that we foresee would be exchange rate risk. For example, when Netflix starts to offer its
services in the United Kingdom, it will have to decide on what it will charge its British customers
a month. However, it will have to do so in pounds, which is the local currency.
If for example, we assume that Netflix charges its U.S. customers 10 dollars a month for its
services and that it wants to charge the same real value to its U.K. customers, if the pound/dollar
exchange rate is .5 pounds for 1 dollar then Netflix would have to charge its U.K. customers 5
pounds a month. However, interest rates are constantly changing and if Netflix doesn t do
something about this risk then its cash flow would be constantly changing. For example if the

It later transformed into what would be called psychedelic rock.
Experimenting with marijuana and LSD became an active attribute to the lives of teenagers. Drugs
let them disconnect from their parents and live freely for a period of time. There has been a
survey done to show relatively the amount of students in school who had taken pot and acid;
By 1969, 31 percent of students said they had smoked pot, and between 10 and 15 percent had
experimented with LSD. At least 10 to 12 million smoked marijuana and between 1 and 2 million
dropped acid. (Bromell, Tomorrow Never Knows)
Music and hippies are two ideal images that come to mind when hearing about the 1960 s. It is no
surprise, the majority of the popular music was composed by those hippies. Marijuana was being
used by major musicians in the early to mid sixties.
1964 was a year that paved the way for music history. It was the first time that The Beatles
smoked pot, being introduced to it by Bob Dylan. In the next year, Dylan released his iconic
album Highway 61 Revisited. This erupted into the psychedelic mindset of teenagers and adults.

rock n roll music. Having marijuana offer an insight into the musician s own mind and expand their

Why Is Uranus Unique
Uranus
Uranus is a very a very unique planet. It s different because of its tilt, color and a somewhat
different surface. Uranus is different than other planets in our solar system. It does have a tilt, odd
color and a different surface, but why? Technically there isn t a surface to uranus. If anyone tried to
land on the surface of uranus the spacecraft would sink through and fall down to the planet s icy
core. The reason for this os because the planet is made up of mainly hydrogen and helium making
it a gas planet. At the core of the planet there are water like elements, such as methane and
ammonia. The planet is referred to as the ice giant because of the temperatures. This planet is also
blue because the methane in Uranus upper atmosphere takes in the red light from the Sun and then
reflects the light absorbed back into space. This is why Uranus appears to be blue. ... Show more

Uranus lies 98 degrees off of its normal axes. The reasoning to this is that uranus rotates clockwise
when all the other planets rotate counter clockwise. Essentially this makes Uranus upside down.
Another fact is that most planets are off their axes a little bit. Earth is off its axis by 23В° and jupiter
3В°. In theory, if uranus rotated normally it would be off by 8 degrees. A normal planet is off by
30В°s at most. The reason why Uranus is so cold is because it s 1.784 billion miles away from
the sun. Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun it is right after saturn. The distance isn t the only
factor to why this planet is so cold. Scientists believe that long ago the planet lost all its heat due to
major activity in the atmosphere. Uranus is 224В° celsius. Making it colder than the 8th planet

Relationship between the Change in Shapes in Yield Curves...
Letter of Transmittal
Introduction
This assignment is to study the relationship between the change in shapes of yield curves and
change in economic prospect of an economy. In this study, Australia and America are selected for
the detailed analysis of the topic. Time series data from December 2009, December 2010,
December 2011, December 2012 and the most updated May 2013 will be collected for further
analysis.
The study will be divided into 4 parts. Below we will explain briefly how we will handle the tasks.
Task 1:
We will plot the yield curves of Australia and America using the yield data of Australian Treasury
notes and government bonds as well as the U.S. Treasury bills. Then, we will relate the curve
shapes to expectation theory of the interest rates for further explanations.
Task 2:
We will discuss the relationship between the change in the slope of yield curves and the change in
the prospect of economy by plotting the graphs of slop change in yield curves for Australia and
America. Data with a higher frequency will be collected for more detailed study.
Task 3:
We will look in to how effective the RBA and the FED have done on the change in monetary policy
and how these policies affected the yield curves respectively. Actions taken to deal with the impact
from financial tsunami in 2008 will be target of our discussion.
Task 4:
We will conclude the findings above and try to give out opinions on how the investors and policy
makers should do to achieve a better

Are Foster Homes Harmful For Kids
Marcellia was born to a drug addicted mother who was unable to properly care for her and her
siblings. They were placed in foster care when she was 10 years old, and Marcellia remained in
the system until she aged out at 19. During those nine years, she was separated from her biological
brothers several times, neglected, and placed in homes with, as she states so simply, no love.
Marcellia s situation is not uncommon in the foster caresystems though. Foster homes neglect and
separate kids/teens. Many foster kids end up never see their family again. This issue is a highly
debated subject. Some argue that foster homes are fine just the way they are, while many debate
how foster homes are harmful for kids/teens in the system. Despite what some may say, foster

feminists focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and social class. Gay talks about all
of these issues in her book, calling upon her own experiences as a Haitian American to explore the
intersectionality between growing up a womanand growing up biracially in America. More than
anything else in her book, Gay focuses on her imperfections as a human being that cause her to

Gay writes, A lot of ink is given over to mythologizing female friendships as curious, fragile
relationships that are always intensely fraught. Stop reading and writing what encourages this
mythology. Likewise, Gay challenges the notion that only books by women are given the title
of women s fiction, and that topics of marriage and children, and parenthood are primarily
marketed towards women when they concern both men and women. She argues against the
stereotype of angry feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape
humor, they are sensitive and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall
term for women who does not tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight
for their rights, when men have not, but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to
lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that women might be more ambitious and focused because
we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to vote, to work outside the home, to work in
environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the universities of our choice, and we ve had to
prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of consideration. She also finds great
offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon the cultural myth that all female
friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive. This myth is like heels and purses pretty, but
designed to SLOW women down. Like many third wave feminists, Gay fights to draw attention to

worked in pairs and used a 30 cm ruler to measure each other s reaction times. One partner held the
ruler while the other, the subject, placed their thumb and index finger at the 0 cm dash on the ruler.

To test for normality, I ran a Shapiro Wilk test on the differences between the means. To achieve
normality, I had to transform the data by square rooting the means (W = 0.95565, p value =
0.05848). Then I ran the paired t test on the transformed means and got a significant result (t =
2.8715, df = 49, p value = 0.006019). I graphed the original data to show the mean concentrating
reaction time is smaller than the mean distracted reaction time (Figure 1). Figure 1: Mean
concentrating reaction times and mean distracted reaction times of 50 Creighton University
students. The mean for each condition is shown with a black X. The differences were deemed
significant by the paired t test (t = 2.8715, df = 49, p value = 0.0060). Conclusion: This study
investigated if there was a difference in reaction when the students were concentrating compared to
when the students were distracted. The raw data showed a difference in mean reactions time
between the two conditions and a paired t test deemed the differences significant (t = 2.8715, df =
49, p value = 0.0060). The null hypothesis is rejected and the mean difference between
concentrating and distracted reaction times is not zero. The mean concentrated reaction times are
smaller than the distracted reaction times. Each person could react quicker when they were
concentration compared to when they

Interstate-Highway System Research Paper
Being a child in a military family, I ve seen a lot of highways and interstates, whether they re well
maintained or extremely hectic. These roads are what connect the entire country and make travel
easier. The history of our interstate highway systems involved many bumps in the road, but the
United States greatly benefitted from the building of these systems. Some challenges and benefits
faced by the government when creating the highway system were the need for safer roads, funding
for construction, and being an economy booster, while future challenges and benefits, as stated by
U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L Chao are predicted to be keeping safety the number one
priority of the roads, the President announcing a budget for transportation systems, and smart
technology still requiring human interaction.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the roads were paved and travel was greatly improved, the biggest priority was safety. As
stated by Chao during the U.S. Department of Transportation Open House, the goal is to prevent
accidents and fatalities before they happen (16). Safety has been very important to those leading
our country since the days the roads were not even paved yet, and continues to be very important to
ensure the country is as efficient as possible. Funding for construction was hard to obtain when
roads were just starting to be improved. According to Arnesen, Congress even passed a Federal Aid
Highway Act in 1944, but it didn t provide any money to fund construction (3). This made building
roads that were of decent quality much more difficult. So when the President s recently announced
budget protected operations that included safety, it opened up many opportunities for the U.S.

ABSTRACT
A resilience framework for understanding cognitive aging implies a search for factors that buffer
against existing risk, enabling one to thrive in what might otherwise be adverse circumstances. The
cascade of biological processes associated with senescence and a cultural context that does not take
into account this biological imperative each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agency in sustaining an engaged lifestyle does not just derive from naive optimism (e.g., the little
engine that could ), but rather from a whole constellation of resources crafted over the life span that
puts force behind ones sense of agency (e.g., Infurna, Gerstorf, Ram, Schupp, amp; Wagner, 2011).
Cognitive capacity does not come for free. By some estimates, proficiency in a substantive skill
requires about 10,000 hours of deliberate practice (Ericsson, Krampe, Tesch Römer, 1993;
Gladwell, 2008). The normalization of optimal life span cognitive development, then, will
ultimately derive from cultural and social institutions (e.g., health care, educational resources) that
position individuals for effective engagement in experiences and activities that nurture cognition on
a large scale over extended time. In the pages that follow, we consider the factors that have
potential to contribute to cognitive resilience through the life span. The 10,000 hour rule implies
that not all skills will be developed to an equal extent and that cognitive resilience must entail
selectivity in what is optimized, as well as compensatory strategies for managing activities that
depend on nonoptimized skills. Because plasticity decreases with age, the 10,000 hour rule might
be expected to become something like a 15,000 hour rule for new skills developed in late life.
However, the 10,000 hour rule also implies that by mid to later adulthood, investment in skill

Case Summary
Peter has been working for with the Bigness Oil Company s local affiliate and established a
trusting relationship with Jesse, manager of the local facility. Jesse was pleased with Peter s
work and recommended that he be retained as the corporate consulting engineer. One day, Jesse
started telling Peter a story of a mysterious loss in one of the raw petrochemicals he receives by
pipeline in the 1950 s. Since there was no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some concepts involved through the issue are risk, confidentiality, environmental health, conflict of
interest, and loyalty. First, the company and peter s career will be in risk if he reported the oil spill
to the state. Second, the engineering law requires confidentiality therefore it is irrelevant that peter
report such an issue that is confidential in the company. Third, the tests were only taken 400 feet
from the surface of the groundwater, however maybe there is contamination deeper or other
marine life were affected. Four, most important concept is the conflict of interest since Peter had
to either obey the engineering law that requires confidentiality and neglect his morals or obey the
state law and lose his friendship and career. Five, Jesse trusted Peter to keep this mysterious spill
between them; he should be loyal to him since they have a trusting relationship. Additionally, Jesse
noted that he cannot have a consulting engineer who doesn t value client loyalty. On the other
hand, there are some unknown facts in the issue. According to state law all spills must be
reported but what about spills that occurred years ago? Where the effects of spill seem to have
dissipated? Is there any gasoline concentration beyond the 400 feet of gasoline? Is the marine life
affected by the spill? Will the gasoline contaminate the ground water years later? Who is

Political Changes In America
Throughout American history, political campaigns were a great part of the nation. These
campaigns are a successful tool in benefitting the United States by ensuring the best solution;
therefore, eliminating stress for the political party and the people of the U.S. In 1948, article
writers Lazarsfeld PF, Berelson B, and Gaudet H of The People s choice: how the voter makes up
his mind in presidential campaign, in the Columbia University Press, records about an experiment,
in 1948 that impacted the voting behavior of Democrats and Republicans. With further research,
they found that many voters were influenced by commentary and made changes to their votes. With

Many believe that religion is a great factor in the voting process, especially on controversial topics
like abortion and homosexuality, which affects the votes immensely. Moreover, the varieties of
different religions all have contrasting opinions on numerous issues, which then results in many
different conclusions; thus affecting the political votes. Religion, not only is a great aspect in the
voting process today, but was also a tremendous political feature in the nineteenth century. Robert
P. Sweirenga, author of Ethnoreligious Political Behavior in the Mid Nineteenth Century,
promotes that, the most exciting development in American history since the 1960 s is the
recognition that religion was a key variable in voting behavior. In the past time and eras before
the 1960 s, religion was the main element for solving complex issues, which is why religion was
a big part of the political campaigns. Religion has been a part of people s life style for many years;
thus affecting their opinions on controversial topics that are connected with campaigns. In the 1800
s, the church was an influential role in the government and society. Moreover, majority of the
people at this time were extremely religious, including the government party, which greatly affected
the laws of the country and the votes of the campaigns. In 1832, the political party realized that
religion was becoming such a great factor and influence, that they did not allow any Roman
Catholics to be a part of the Executive Council until 1840. Even still, after that date, they majority
of the government were a part of the church, showing that religion has such a major impact on the
influence of voting even still in the twenty first

Allusions In Brave New World Analysis
Aldous Huxley s Brave New World uses allusions to Shakespeare and historical figures in order
to show how detached from long lasting cultural values humans can become. The first allusions to
Shakespeare is made in the title, Brave New World. This alludes to The Tempest, O, wonder!
/ How many goodly creatures are there here! / How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, /
That has such people in t! (ACT 5. SC. 1) Huxley chose this title in order to poke fun at how
wonderful and beautiful society thinks the world is, which is important to remember when,
throughout the novel, society believes they are at their best and have achieved the highest
degree of community possible. The main character John grew up with a blend of native and
civilized cultures. His mother kept two books with her in Mexico, one being The Complete
Works of William Shakespeare. This book being the only way he was taught to read and write
makes it easier for John to connect to Shakespeare and his writings. The fact that he, a savage , is
using a higher level of speech than the civilized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first and most important notable person he alludes to is Henry Ford. Ford s company
invented the assembly line, which is being used in Brave New World s Central London Hatchery
and Conditioning Centre, when the workers perform Bokanovsky s Process on human eggs.
Bokanovsky s Process is an allusion to Maurice Bokanovsky, a French bureaucrat who wanted a
more efficient government. It then makes sense that Huxley named a fictitious scientific process
for cloning after him. The Malthusian Belt is almost the opposite of Bokanovsky s Process. It is a
birth control belt that is worn by the women in Brave New World. It alludes to Thomas Malthus, a
British economist who thought that the world s population would grow out of control if allowed to

Q1.Discuss some of the examples of poor quality in information technology projects presented in
the What Went Wrong? section. Could most of these problems have been avoided? Why do you
think there are so many examples of poor quality in information technology projects?
Answer: Many of these problems could be avoided by performing better quality management. One

The Master And Margarita By Mikhail Bulgakov
Mikhail Bulgakov s imaginative novel, The Master and Margarita has been considered to be
one of the best novels of the twentieth century. The Master and Margarita has focused on
Bulgakov s cosmology and how the events of the novel can be seen as a mirror of his world
view. One of the characters, Ivan Nikolayevich Ponyrev appears in the very first chapter of the
novel as a very young, antichristian poet and also in the Epilogue as a wiser historian and
philosopher. In terms of Ivan s role, he is a transmitter of the Master s messages and also the
elaboration of Bulgakov s vision of history. (add more details) Ivan Nikolayevich Ponyrev, he is a
young poet who writes under the pen name Bezdomny, which means homeless in Russian. He...

Professor Woland is frequently referred to in the novel as a foreigner. When he arrives and
begins talking with Berlioz and Ivan about the existence or nonexistence of God and Jesus, he is
actually questioning the official atheism. Their conversation revels Bulgakov s world view and his
cosmological emphasis. Bulgakov s novel was written in the 1930 s, a time of great repression and
hardship in the Soviet Union under Stalin. It was written at the height of Stalin s reign of terror.
The novel reveals the freedom of the spirit in an unfree world. When professor Woland tells Ivan
and Berlioz that he has ability to predict the future, he is questioning that how a dominator controls
much of Soviet life. In terms of the structure of The Master and Margarita, the figure of Ivan has
indisputable significance. According to Laura D. Weeks, he points out he is the character that
opens and closes the novel, the source of at least one of the Pilate chapters, and the only truly
sympathetic character consistently tied to the Moscow level of the novel (2). The story of Pontius
Pilate is told by professor Woland. He declares that he was present for the entire story he has
related to Ivan and Berlioz. And he also predicts that Berlioz will be killed and he will stay in
Berlioz s apartment shortly. In Pursuit, Homeless, Ivan hears the scream of a woman and he sees
the accident. After that, he believes

  • 2. Gourd-Shaped Wine Ewer With Inlaid Grapevine The gourd shaped wine ewer with inlaid grapevine is a ceramic piece that is currently on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts. This piece is from the Goryeo dynasty of 13th century Korea. It is made from stoneware that was coated with a celadon glaze. A piece like this would have typically had a lid, but like most similar pieces it was lost over time. The methods of making such pieces has changed and shifted over the years. Korean pottery has it s own presence as well as having taken inspiration from other cultures and locations. The use of Ceramics in Koreastarted around 7000 BC during the Old Josean Dynasty. The most typical kiln used in Korea is called a climbing kiln. A long trench is dug up the side of an area of sloping land, a tunnel of brick and clay is built over the trench. There were many openings along the tunnel for pine wood to be inserted to fuel the kiln. At the top of the kiln there was an opening that was used to release the smoke. The firing process took about a week or more to slowly get the temperature to reach 1150 to 1300 degrees; the temperature needed to produce stoneware. • 4. Strategic Direction On The United States The United States will not be able to effectively rebalance the Joint Force in 2025 unless sequestration is reversed. The current U.S. strategic direction has prompted a shift of military resources to the Asia Pacific. Globalization, cyber attacks and advances in technology will further challenge the Joint Forces in the next ten years. It is imperative that the U.S. Joint Forces be adequately funded in order to identify and develop critical technology, establish policies and maintain adequate force structure to rebalance the Joint Force in 2025. Diminishing resources and lack of predictability within the military budget process will introduce significant strategic, military and political risk. Joint Forces capability, capacity and readiness requirements are derived from the National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy and the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and provide the framework for Joint Force future strategy. Sequestration has severely impacted the Joint Forces ability to plan and program resources necessary to achieve these strategic objectives. Sequestration requires the DOD to execute across the board cuts from all accounts and has limited the department s ability to move resources to accounts with greater needs. This has not only impacted readiness and force structure, but has also reduced investment in new weapon systems. Research and development is necessary in order to field new technologies that will enable the Joint Force to keep ahead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Private Administration Introduction Public Administration is like any other administration, it is a process of translating the policies in the overall interests of the general public; which are then carried out into the results that can either benefit or hinder the general well being of society and the people living within this democratic monarchy. Although, in order to distinguish what is public from what is private and what is politics from what is administration, you have to know who is being affected and how they are being influenced. If the government refuses to sponsor health insurance programs; such as Medicare and Medicaid, under the PPACA, then public consumers; such as ourselves, will otherwise go without medical insurance and perhaps, without necessary medical care. With this act in place, the price of a medical commodity; such as a prescription, or service; such as vision and or dental care, continues to remain low and or competitive. If everything about this act truly fraudulent and broken, then maybe we should just throw it away and forget about it; or perhaps, or we can simply afford to fix what s broken about it . • 11. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Qualitative Research... A research paradigm is a way of observing the world. It is composed of certain philosophical assumptions that guide and direct action and thinking. Traditional the main worldviews and paradigms that are presented as being fundamentally opposed are positivism/postpositivism and constructivism/interpretivism (Creswell Plano Clark, 2007; Morgan, 2007). Mixed methods research has been addressed as a response to the ongoing debates discussing the advantages and disadvantages of qualitative versus quantitative researchas a result of the paradigm battle. The positivist notion is that a singular reality and only one truth that are out there waiting to be objectively and value free discovered which underpins quantitative research methods. In contrast ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using a paradigm this way relates it directly to research as an epistemological position (Morgan, 2007). In this way a paradigm guides research efforts and the exclusion of other paradigms (Kuhn, 1962). Consequently, from the subjective multiplicity of interpretivism over the contextualized causal understanding of realism to the objective and measurable reality of positivism, paradigms could be construed as dogmatic and as requiring particular research methods and even excluding others (Greene et al., 2001). Kuhn (1962) noted that in that sense, a paradigm could restrict academic creativity and curiosity, and even blind researchers to aspects of new phenomena and theories, thus limiting the imagination (Mills, 1959). Even if not verbalized or made explicit, research questions reflects the researcher s epistemological understanding of the world. Also, any interpretation of findings will show the researchers underlying philosophies drawing on and extending the notion that all knowledge is knowledge from some point of view (Fishman, 1978; Mounce, 1997). Most notable when regarding pragmatism as an alternate paradigm is that it evades the argumentative issues of truth and reality. Pragmatism accepts, in a philosophical stance, that there are both single and multiple realities exposed to empirical investigation, thus, positioning itself toward practical problem solving in the real world (Dewey, 1925; Rorty, 1999; Creswell Plano Clark, 2007). This allows the researcher to be free of practical and conceptual constrictions imposed by the forced choice duality between positivism and constructivism (Creswell Plano Clark, 2007), leaving the researchers outside the prison of a particular research method or technique (Robson, 1993). The quantifiable world relates more closely to existentialism in the pragmatists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Chesapeake And New England Colonies Essay A community is a group of people who work together towards a common goal and share a common interest. Lack of such a quality can and most likely will cause a struggling town or city to fall into the extremes of poverty and wealth. The New England community was so strong and so supportive in comparison to that of the Chesapeake Bay, that it is no wonder they developed into two distinctly different cultures before the year 1700. The Chesapeake region developed into a land of plantations and money driven owners, with the elite wealthy, almost no middle class, and those in poverty creating the population. New England, on the other hand, had developed into a religion and family based society comprised of mostly middle class families by 1700.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The motives that drove the Pilgrims and Puritans away from anything familiar and the trust they placed in God only proved that they were going to make their life in the new world work, no matter what. Not everyone in England was facing a harsh persecution; many travelers came to the New World with high hopes of money, which led to numerous conflicts. It was a land for the rich to get richer. Most of the settlers bound for Virginiaand the Southern colonies had a get rich or die trying type of attitude. The only thing tearing them from home was a flimsy promise of gold that may or may not be there. The motive of such people is so radically different. There were no pacts of agreement, no common laws that kept them in a community once landing. This led the men to never develop any sense of belonging with their fellow men, causing a distinct survival society by 1700. Every man was for himself. It was a bitter game displaying the survival of the richest. The travelers from England that headed for the Chesapeake Bay were predominantly men, which led to an unbalanced society and lack of wives to promote a family based culture. The passenger list for one boat had a sex ratio of sixty four men to eleven women. Not only was there a radical imbalance, only four of the men were above forty, while only eight total were above thirty (Doc. C). Hawaii is the only American state that is distinct from the mainland, is completely surrounded by water, continues to grow surface due to lava flows mainly from Kilauea and is entirely in the tropics. Apart from Easter Island, Hawaii is further away from land than any other landmass on Earth. Hawaii s highest mountain, Mauna Kea is 4205 m above sea level. but is higher than Mount Everest if measured from the bottom of the Pacific. Geology All of Hawaii s islands have been created by volcanoes that reside from the seabed, according to the theory of hot spots. The theory argues that the Pacific tectonic plate moves towards the northwest while the hot spot stays still, which slowly creates new volcanoes. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Literature Review implementation demands significant investment in time and money which is justified with the benefits obtained post implementation. 2.5REVIEWS ON RFID IN WAREHOUSE The RFID system mainly includes three parts: reader, antenna, and RFID tag, as shown. Because of the uniqueness of the RFID tag, the reader can locate and track the target once it is attached on an RFID tag. Passive tags are used to attach on the target object because they are much cheaper, long lived, lightweight and have a smaller foot print. The reader can communicated with host computer through RS232. 1.An RFID interrogator, or more often called an RFID reader, is a RF transmitting and receiving device used to communicate with an RFID Tag. The device was named an interrogator because it interrogates the tags. The term reader is a more colloquial term, but is sometimes misleading in that many of these devices also have the ability to encode, or write information to an RFID Tag. A reader basically acts as an RF sensor because it can communicate with RFID tags that are within its range and is designed to interface with an information process system. 2.An antenna (or aerial) is an electrical device which converts ... • 21. The Poetry Of Elizabeth Barrett Browning Among the women poets in the nineteenth century, nobody was acknowledged and admired more for their independence, courage, and accomplishments than Elizabeth Barrett Browning. She passionately wrote about the issues of social injustice and later on in her life she expressed her political opinions on the struggle with Italy and Austria. Elizabeth Barrett was born at Coxhoe Hall, England, on March 6, 1806. She is the daughter of Mary Graham Clarke and Edward Moulton Barrett, who obtained large amounts of money from his Jamaican sugar plantations. Elizabeth lived a very privileged childhood in the country with her eleven younger brothers and sisters. Even though she was not always full of energy, she still enjoyed riding her pony and playing with her friends. She was a very intelligent child who excelled in reading and continued to impress her tutors by studying languages like Greek, the Bible in Hebrew, classical literature, philosophy, and history. Her father Edward was over protective and had forbidden her to marry. He encouraged Elizabeth to write poetry, and published fifty copies of her narrative poem The Battle of Marathon in 1820. Her father s concern for her rose when she was struck with illness at the age of fifteen. Opium was prescribed to her and she would take it for various illnesses for the rest of her life. Since women were viewed to be dependent upon men, Elizabeth anonymously published An Essay on Mind with Other Poems in 1826.. Long afterwards in a response to an American critic she called the book a girl s exercise, nothing more nor less! . The poem for which the book was named was an admired effort and a general understanding in an eighty eight page survey of the history of science, philosophy, and poetry, from ancient Greece to the present. Fourteen other poems were occasionally written in a personal nature which did not show the author s voice. Out of the two journals, one is noted for its mystery of language and barren themes, and the other journal directed the reader to forget one s greed and look closer at nature. Uranus is different than other planets in our solar system. It does have a tilt, odd color and a different surface, but why? Technically there isn t a surface to uranus. If anyone tried to land on the surface of uranus the spacecraft would sink through and fall down to the planet s icy core. The reason for this os because the planet is made up of mainly hydrogen and helium making it a gas planet. At the core of the planet there are water like elements, such as methane and ammonia. The planet is referred to as the ice giant because of the temperatures. This planet is also blue because the methane in Uranus upper atmosphere takes in the red light from the Sun and then reflects the light absorbed back into space. Another way to view the CCC project was an effort to revitalize what we had taken from the land and preserve it for future generations, in doing so it also provided jobs, education, skills, protection and ... • 35. Are Foster Homes Harmful For Kids Marcellia was born to a drug addicted mother who was unable to properly care for her and her siblings. They were placed in foster care when she was 10 years old, and Marcellia remained in the system until she aged out at 19. During those nine years, she was separated from her biological brothers several times, neglected, and placed in homes with, as she states so simply, no love. Marcellia s situation is not uncommon in the foster caresystems though. Foster homes neglect and separate kids/teens. Many foster kids end up never see their family again. This issue is a highly debated subject. Some argue that foster homes are fine just the way they are, while many debate how foster homes are harmful for kids/teens in the system. Despite what some may say, foster homes are harmful for kids because they don t prepare kids to deal with future real life obstacles and foster homes don t support kids... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are so many children are being neglected, but the kids aren t being prepared to help children develop skills and knowledge that will help them get the education they need. Skeptics may say that foster homes are fine as they are or that they ve changed , but truth is that foster homes don t really care and haven t taken any action to help the kids/teens. After all, most children are not being helped or supported mentally/emotionally, and most of the kids have been known to struggle from PTSD. If we are able to speak up for these children/teens, or help foster homes improve, we must provide different ideas for solutions and let our voices be heard. For example, giving kids a permanent family and love is a way to heal the kids/teens. So for children and teens like Marcellia everywhere, let them know that their voice matters. They can finally be heard. Give children living in foster homes chance by helping them; listening to them, the words and pain they keep inside. And maybe, just maybe, it can help them ... Third wave feminists focus on the intersections of gender, sexuality, race, and social class. Gay talks about all of these issues in her book, calling upon her own experiences as a Haitian American to explore the intersectionality between growing up a womanand growing up biracially in America. More than anything else in her book, Gay focuses on her imperfections as a human being that cause her to interpret feminismdifferently from anyone else. We don t all have to believe in the same feminism, she writes. Gay writes, A lot of ink is given over to mythologizing female friendships as curious, fragile relationships that are always intensely fraught. Stop reading and writing what encourages this mythology. Likewise, Gay challenges the notion that only books by women are given the title of women s fiction, and that topics of marriage and children, and parenthood are primarily marketed towards women when they concern both men and women. She argues against the stereotype of angry feminist as well. When women respond negatively to misogynistic or rape humor, they are sensitive and branded as feminist, a word that has, as of late, become a catchall term for women who does not tolerate bullshit. Gay says that women have always had to fight for their rights, when men have not, but that women s struggles to succeed are chalked up to lack of ability. What goes unsaid is that women might be more ambitious and focused because we ve never had a choice. We ve had to fight to vote, to work outside the home, to work in environments free of sexual harassment, to attend the universities of our choice, and we ve had to prove ourselves over and over to receive any modicum of consideration. She also finds great offense at the media s portrayal of female relationships: Abandon the cultural myth that all female friendships must be bitchy, toxic, or competitive. This myth is like heels and purses pretty, but designed to SLOW women down. Like many third wave feminists, Gay fights to draw attention to these issues in order to change ... • 39. Freely Controlled Reaction Time Introduction: As many states have implemented laws against distracting driving, I was interested to see how a person s reaction time differed when they were concentrating to when they were distracted. I predicted a person s mean reaction time would increase when they were distracted, compared to their concentrating reaction time. Methods: The study was conducted on a Thursday morning from 10:00 am until 11:30 am in a Rigge Science lab. Fifty Creighton juniors and seniors worked in pairs and used a 30 cm ruler to measure each other s reaction times. One partner held the ruler while the other, the subject, placed their thumb and index finger at the 0 cm dash on the ruler. The first partner dropped the ruler without any warning and measured,... To achieve normality, I had to transform the data by square rooting the means (W = 0.95565, p value = 0.05848). Then I ran the paired t test on the transformed means and got a significant result (t = 2.8715, df = 49, p value = 0.006019). I graphed the original data to show the mean concentrating reaction time is smaller than the mean distracted reaction time (Figure 1). Figure 1: Mean concentrating reaction times and mean distracted reaction times of 50 Creighton University students. The mean for each condition is shown with a black X. The differences were deemed significant by the paired t test (t = 2.8715, df = 49, p value = 0.0060). Conclusion: This study investigated if there was a difference in reaction when the students were concentrating compared to when the students were distracted. The raw data showed a difference in mean reactions time between the two conditions and a paired t test deemed the differences significant (t = 2.8715, df = 49, p value = 0.0060). The null hypothesis is rejected and the mean difference between concentrating and distracted reaction times is not zero. These roads are what connect the entire country and make travel easier. The history of our interstate highway systems involved many bumps in the road, but the United States greatly benefitted from the building of these systems. Some challenges and benefits faced by the government when creating the highway system were the need for safer roads, funding for construction, and being an economy booster, while future challenges and benefits, as stated by U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Elaine L Chao are predicted to be keeping safety the number one priority of the roads, the President announcing a budget for transportation systems, and smart technology still requiring human interaction.... As stated by Chao during the U.S. Department of Transportation Open House, the goal is to prevent accidents and fatalities before they happen (16). Safety has been very important to those leading our country since the days the roads were not even paved yet, and continues to be very important to ensure the country is as efficient as possible. Funding for construction was hard to obtain when roads were just starting to be improved. According to Arnesen, Congress even passed a Federal Aid Highway Act in 1944, but it didn t provide any money to fund construction (3). This made building roads that were of decent quality much more difficult. Agency in sustaining an engaged lifestyle does not just derive from naive optimism (e.g., the little engine that could ), but rather from a whole constellation of resources crafted over the life span that puts force behind ones sense of agency (e.g., Infurna, Gerstorf, Ram, Schupp, amp; Wagner, 2011). Cognitive capacity does not come for free. By some estimates, proficiency in a substantive skill requires about 10,000 hours of deliberate practice (Ericsson, Krampe, Tesch RГ¶mer, 1993; Gladwell, 2008). The normalization of optimal life span cognitive development, then, will ultimately derive from cultural and social institutions (e.g., health care, educational resources) that position individuals for effective engagement in experiences and activities that nurture cognition on a large scale over extended time. In the pages that follow, we consider the factors that have potential to contribute to cognitive resilience through the life span. The 10,000 hour rule implies that not all skills will be developed to an equal extent and that cognitive resilience must entail selectivity in what is optimized, as well as compensatory strategies for managing activities that depend on nonoptimized skills. Because plasticity decreases with age, the 10,000 hour rule might be expected to become something like a 15,000 hour rule for new skills developed in late life. However, the 10,000 hour rule also implies that by mid to later adulthood, investment in skill development of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allusions In Brave New World Analysis Aldous Huxley s Brave New World uses allusions to Shakespeare and historical figures in order to show how detached from long lasting cultural values humans can become.
