Essay on The American Automotive Industry
The American automotive industry has led the American economy for many years. This industry has
shaped our development, and influenced American culture and social mores. Now, ensnared by
globalization and other dominant factors, it faces a difficult reality. The American automotive industry
significantly impacted the lives of Americans. Detroit s Big Three had the most significant roles in
this. Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors were American symbols. They are credited for a significant
percentage of all American jobs; they put numerous blue collar families into the middle class, and
helped America cultivate into the giant of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, the fabled automotive
firms are not what they once were and are traveling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the beginning of a new era in automotive history. Before this time, fuel consumption and air
quality was not demanded by the American consumer. Due to the fact that foreign car manufacturers
perceive to have the edge on fuel efficiency and emission standards, the foreign industry has an
advantage in that sector of automotives. The American industry is capable of taking over by creating
alternative energy sources. Alternative energy sources for cars, such as natural gas, electricity, ethanol,
vegetable oil, sunlight, and water, contend for consumer use. The US pioneered the alternative fuel
source in 1996 when GM released the EV1, an emission free car. In 2004 the Ford Motor Company
became the first U.S. automaker to produce a hybrid vehicle. The Ford Escape Hybrid, introduced for
the 2005 model year, was both the first hybrid made in the United States and the first hybrid sport
utility vehicle. The US must pursue this area of research into further development if it wants to regain
control of the automotive industry.
The second factor that is contributing to the automotive industry s demise is our foreign trade policy.
This foreign trade policy is very lenient for alien countries. Our trade policy allows foreign countries
to avoid taxes and duties, while other countries have strict

Parent Corporation owns 85% of the common stock and 100% of the preferred stock of Subsidiary
Corporation. The common stock and preferred stock have adjusted bases of $500,000 and $200,000,
respectively, to Parent. Subsidiary adopts a plan of liquidation on July 3 of the current year, when its

Subsidiary pays off its creditors and distributes $150,000 to Parent with respect to its preferred stock.

In a Court reviewed opinion, we held that the phrase all its stock did not include nonvoting stock
which is limited and preferred as to dividends. 27 T.C. at 688. Thus, Hazleton Bakeries distribution,
which was in respect of only the nonvoting preferred stock, was not a distribution in complete
cancellation or redemption of all its stock.
The case of H.K. Porter Co., Inc. 87 T.C. 689 (1986) also had a subsidiary liquidate assets and the
distribute failed to cover the preferred stock s liquidation preference. On its 1978 and 1979 Federal
income tax returns, petitioner claimed losses with respect to its Porter Australia stock. In his notice of
deficiency, respondent disallowed said losses because under I.R.C. Sec. 332, no gain or loss is
recognized on the receipt of property distributed in complete liquidation of a subsidiary corporation.
The court ruled in favor of H.K. Porter. Finally, because we have held that section 332 does not bar the
recognition of petitioner s losses, we hold that, based on the record, petitioner is entitled to an ordinary
loss of $249,981 in 1978 with respect to the worthlessness of its common stock and a long term capital
loss of $1,957,770 in 1979 with respect to its preferred stock. See sec. 165(a) and (g).

The semi formal/casual formal and formalwear segment has a number of players and retailers with a
number of both homegrown as well as international brands. The utility footwear segment is the most
price sensitive and is dominated mostly by domestic players and retailers both organized and
unorganized.
Men s footwear comprises the largest share of the organized market in value terms. The ladies
footwear segment remains the most untapped as nearly 80 90 percent purchases happen in the
unorganized market largely due to the dressing habits of women for whom consideration of durability
or comfort are less important than colors and designs that go with dress. The children s and kid s
segment also accounts for a significant share due to the increased emphasis on sporty looks.
4.Key Domestic Players
Bata: Bata India has established a leadership position in the industry and is the most trusted name in
branded footwear.
The company manufactures footwear for men, women and children. These include shoes of various

Toubou People
The Toubou people first appeared in the 5th century BC, which is when they took over the range and
turned it into their home. They raised their families, traded their livestock, and harvested their crops
here. The ancient Toubou also painted and engraved beautiful rock art that archeologists later
discovered. Lastly, there are still Toubou people living in the Tibesti Mountains to this day.
The Tibesti Mountains, also known as the Tibesti Massif, are extremely dangerous and volcanic
mountains. They extend into northeastern Niger and southern Libya, but they are mostly located in
northwestern Chad. They are about 300 miles long and up to 175 miles wide. With the elevation being
11,302 , they are the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the art found can date from anywhere between 4,000 to 12,000 years or more. Archaeologists
believe that some of the missing rock art could have been up to 33,000 years old. The animals that
were carved or painted were the animals that were hunted or lived in their nearby are, some of which
are now extinct. Some of these animals that are still around today include hippos, rhinos, elephants,
giraffes, and even fish. Some of the new paintings include ostriches and antelope. Another type of
engraving they would see often would be owoza, which were portray warriors, wearing feathers and
they were armed with shields and knives. Some were dance scenes. Some paintings discovered were
over 6 feet in height. The art shows the culture of the ancient people of Chad. During the Pastoral
period, the engravings or paintings showed men herding their cattle or hunting, while the women and
children were hanging around camp. In addition, there was a lot of horse art found, which is some of
the most interesting art. The paintings of the scenes that are more pastoral are painted with a red base
because the red base signifies towards domestication in the Tibesti Mountains. There is so much rock
art in the Tibesti Mountains that archaeologists believe they have only found less than half of the art
that is still out there. Jeremy Curl, an explorer, states, There have only been a handful of expeditions
to the Tibesti in the last hundred years because it is so remote and inaccessible. It s time for a new one.
He took a trip through the Tibesti Mountains to view some of the amazing rock art. There has been
around 200 engraving sights and 100 painting sights discovered. Although the paintings and
engravings have went through time and weathering, you can still see most of the art clearly. Rock art
is still an extremely important part of Toubou people s lives. The reason

Sexual Intercourse Within The Human Species
Introduction Sexual intercourse is an intriguing, yet touchy subject to most individuals. There are
nearly as many different beliefs in regards to the act of sex as there are for something as prominent
and controversial as religion. It is a topic that the majority of individuals do not want to discuss, yet it
is something that the majority of everyone is intrigued about. Throughout this research paper we will
take a closer look at sexual intercourse within the human species by attempting to define what sex is,
find out who partakes in this deed, determine when it is typically done, and finally reveal why it is
done.
What Is Sex? While the title begins with the pronoun who, not the pronoun what, it will be much

All of these communications assume that the speakers and listeners share a definition of sex that is
clear, consistent across situations, and unbiased by personal motives. In fact, there is limited research
evaluating individuals definitions of sex, and the research that does exist seems based on implicit
assumptions that may be problematic in some ways. (Peterson Muehlenhard, 2007, p. 256 268)
This statement is implying that they back the notion that the definition of sex is still unknown; one
hundred different individuals would give you one hundred different definitions of the enigmatic term
sex . Additionally, this confusion is established in an article by Judith Mackay (2011) when she states
that sex research, where it exists, is usually fertility related rather than sex oriented. Even definitions
vary. There is no agreed definition of sex counseling, obscenity, or even what people mean by the term
sex, all making comparable analysis difficult. But there is no way that we could go any further into
this research without establishing a set definition, so the misperception must end now. For the sake of
this research paper, sex will be defined as any vaginal, anal, or oral intercourse between two or more
individuals. These three different forms of sex are often involved in sexual intercourse, but these terms
can be ambiguous to many customary individuals. Each of these different forms of sex varies from
one another, all offering something

Elementary School And High School
Class is defined as a group of people who have a similar level of wealth and income. Even though this
ideology is more referred to specific individuals regarding their occupation, education can be
considered to follow this same description. There are educational institutions everywhere, one
elementary school usually in one part of a neighborhood in your hometown. As these schools grown in
number and increase in grade level however, less become established and there tend to be a smaller
amount of high schools within a city compared to elementary or middle. This means that for every 4
or 5 neighborhoods there is 1 high school that is responsible for accepting these residents. High
schools quickly become established in large district areas, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How are low income schools different than higher income schools? This is a concerning issue because
if there continues to be a financial difference between educational institutions that affects the quality
of schools, there will be an entire generation of students that will have received a poor education and
have limited opportunities of successfully integrating with society compared to graduates that attained
a higher quality education from a higher income school. This decreases social mobility of low income
school graduates, continues stratification, and may encourage low income graduates to enact in high
risk illegal acts to support themselves and families since they were not properly prepared to be college
ready in high school. Low income schools mainly differ from higher income schools through student
performance in college preparatory exams and behavioral issues/stigmas.
Differences in student performance on college preparatory exams is the first noticeable difference
between low income schools and higher income schools. Bryan Station had a larger percentage of
students that underperformed and scored a lower average mean ACT composite score compared to
Fayette County and Kentucky. The average ACT score of a Bryan Station student is 18.1, compared to
the county average of 21.4 and the state average of 19.1 (Startclass, 2016). Compared to Henry Clay,
this school had a larger percentage of students that scored a significantly

The Negative Impact Of Social Media And Politics
Social media has caused an uproar in recent times. Political figures such as President Trump, have
used social media to embarrass himself and the country, countless people lose jobs everyday due to
posts on social media, and Kids are influenced into making bad decisions because of trends. One of
the major key events in all of this is the development of Facebook . Facebook was one of the very first
platforms that allowed everyone to access it, ever since then, our modern lifestyle has been in a
decline. Social media is a common tool in modern life, however, it has caused many problems,
including a corruption in our political system, damaging careers, and having a negative impact on
children. With social media having such a value to society today, it is crucial to correct these errors in
social media.
Politics is one area where social media can change the entire country. When social media was
introduced in a political candidate, it turned the voting system into a game, as shown by the article
Social Media and Politics As easy as it is for politicians to reach out to voters on sites like Facebook, it
is even easier for these online supporters to abandon politicians when the campaign ends (Social
Media and Politics). By this, the author is stating that people who are influenced to vote by social
media are likely to stop their support of the candidate after they win. This means that voters no longer
care about the long term effect of a vote, after they vote they lose interest.

Frida Kahlo s Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis was founded by Sigmund Freud to make the unconscious conscious. His aim was to
gain insight into the unconscious and repressed thoughts, feelings and motivations of people in order
to help them understand. Freud focused on bringing the repressed internal conflict (such as
development issues or trauma) to a conscious place where the person can easily deal with it. Art is one
way in which the individual can express his deepest thoughts by unravelling one s inner feelings,
making them visible and vulnerable. When a work of art is created by an artist it reflects his/her
beliefs and morale which in turn helps us understand and interpret it more clearly.

She completed the painting after the burial and perhaps it is the encapsulation of her grief and failure
that makes the painting so abject. It is a powerful scene in which Kahlo demonstrates her own
separation from her mother and herself as a non mother. The scene is an expression of Kahlo s
abjection and isolation. Above the bed is a religious icon, a representation of the weeping Virgin of
Sorrows, overlooking a stark room furnished only by a neat made bed. The mother is dead, as
represented by the sheet covering her head, upper torso and arms. The baby being born from this dead
woman is still born. The baby represents Kahlo herself. In this piece Kahlo painfully illustrates the

The Importance Of The Louisiana Purchase
In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson negotiated the Louisiana Purchase with France despite personal
qualms of its constitutionality. The Louisiana Territory nearly doubled the size of the United States,
including the major port city of New Orleans. Despite his personal reading of the Constitution,
Jefferson understood that it was more important for the country to act decisively and buy the land than
to await an amendment to the Constitution. Jefferson, acting within the right of the president to
negotiate treaties, pursued the Louisiana Purchase primarily due to the political threat of the nearby
French territory and the economic importance of New Orleans. On several occasions, Jefferson
recognized the danger that France s ownership of the Louisiana territory poses to American liberty. In
a letter to Robert Livingston, Jefferson boldly announced that France placing herself in that door
assumes to us the attitude of defiance. Jefferson asserted that France s control over New Orleans
presents a direct threat to the United States. Later on, Jefferson wrote, The day that France takes
possession of New Orleans fixes the sentence which is to restrain her forever within her low
watermark... From that moment we must marry ourselves to the British fleet and nation (Jefferson,
Letter to Livingston ). From his perspective, any French control in the Louisiana territory, especially
of New Orleans, would force the United States into an alliance with Britain, leading to an inevitable

Comparing Apple Vs Samsung
Most people have owned or own a Samsung device or Apple device. You may know these two
amazing companies have been competing versus each other for the longest on trying to produce the
better phone. Both companies produce the hottest smartphones on the market with all the latest
features, from fingerprint scanner to waterproof technology. Even though they are the phones that are
more expensive they are expensive for a reason, and the reason is because they have the latest
technology and are built with great quality. I personally like Samsung over Apple because Samsung
freely lets you organize and personalize your own phone, while Apple only really lets you change the
wallpaper. First of all, these two companies have sold millions of phones to people worldwide.
Samsung is a South Korean company while Apple is founded in the United States of America.
Samsung sold approximately 83.4 million phones, but that number decreased because of the battery
issue on the Samsung Note 7, which was a overheating problem that was causing the battery to
overheat and then explode and there were some incidents that people reported burned them while their
phone was on their pocket or while it was charging, and the number decreased to 76.7, while apple
sold approximately 77 million phones. In the marketing industry this was a major issue because it
affected the company really bad, with horrible feedback and sales decreased. This wasn t really a big
problem to the company because they worked hard

Media Based Interaction Started Long Before The Internet
The study of media based interaction started long before the Internet by looking at feedback as a
concept (Wiener, 1948; Shannon Weaver, 1949; Kiousis, 2002). Ultimately, online story comments
online connect to the idea of feedback (Wiener, 1948; Nordlund, 1978). As it relates to digital
environments people have been more likely to seek feedback online compared to those engaged in
person to person conversations (Ang Cummings, 1994). In addition, feedback is one method that
community media outlets could use to provide cohesive representation of the community (Lowrey,
Brozana, Mackay, 2008). Feedback loops represent the pattern of communication where journalists
produced content and then a member of the public responded, this version ... Show more content on

Synchronous and asynchronous communication
In the past, there was an issue of public expectation and the consumer should not presume continuous
or immediate feedback (Schudson, 1978). This partially explains why the ability to engage in
interactivity has been considered one of the advantages of digital media (Morris Ogan, 1997).
Immediacy within communication has not been necessary to support common action, but the ability to
communicate in real time could make a digital community feel more tangible to its users (Marathe,
1999). Therefoe, a need remains to understand the differences between synchronous and asynchronous
communication as it relates to digital communication. For example, synchronous communication tools
because of their expectation of quicker retort can lead to additional interaction (Shirani, Tafti Affisco,
1999). Meanwhile, with asynchronous communication tools the communication can deeper and more
detailed, yet there is less interaction (Shirani, Tafti Affisco, 1999).
The ability to engage in synchronous communication may represent an important part of the
maintenance of virtual communities (Porter, 2004). There are some websites that engage in
synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid (both synchronous and asynchronous) communication (Porter,
2004). Early studies on digital interactivity suggested the immediacy of response was only part of the
potential for online interactivity; there also existed the possibility for discussions to

Essay about Why Marijuana Should Be Legalized
Marijuana s illegalization has always been erroneous. Early in the 1900s, a surge of Mexicans
immigrated to the U.S., and the marijuana they brought with them was quickly associated with them.
In the 1930s, tensions between white Americans and Mexican immigrants were heightened due to the
Great Depression, and the use of marijuana was ultimately prohibited for the general public in 1937
with the Marijuana Tax Act ( Marijuana Timeline ). By the 1960s, marijuana became a symbol of
counterculture, and the government stopped any research involved with its properties. In 1971,
President Richard Nixon began the War on Drugs, and marijuana was dragged into it. Nixon assigned

Studies by the British Medical Association and World Health Organization have concluded that
medical marijuana could be used to treat symptoms of certain diseases (Koch). Due to the extensive
testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough
evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily available,
and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it. Opponents of the use
of medical marijuana argue that it could have unintended societal consequences. Robert L. DuPont of
the National Institute on Drug Abuse argues that teen attitudes to marijuana are linked to medical
marijuana laws, and that medical marijuana would normalize drug use ( Teen Drug Use ). This is not
true. The Institute of Medicine was asked to conduct a study on medical marijuana by the White
House. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of medical marijuana would not increase
recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this organization is clearly reputable, there is
enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana wouldn t affect the general population s use
of marijuana in any way. Since DuPont also didn t provide any evidence for his claim, it can be
dismissed. Due to the evidence provided, it is clear that marijuana has positive health benefits. In
addition, marijuana should be legalized because its illegalization

The Causes And Consequences Of The Progressive Movement
T he Progressive Movement encompassed a variety of different ideas and activities of reformist
pressure groups. The Progressive Era was the period in the history of the United States that was
dominated by reform ideals from 1890 1920. The Progressive Movement covered social reform issues
relating to female suffrage, education, working conditions, unionization, the problems of urbanization,

reducing the power of the Robber Barons and unfair business practices. As we have learned in history,

The Slave By Frederick Douglass
Concepts, techniques, and ways of thinking can last much longer than their creators. The philosophy
of Plato is an example of that. Its ideas can be found in a speech written thousands of years later. In
What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? Frederick Douglass, a former slave, addresses an audience of
white abolitionists on July 5th of 1852. He focuses on the disparity between the American values
celebrated on the Independence Day and the issue of slavery. To do so, Douglass raises the question of
to whom those values apply and explains why and how it should be different. Analyzing Douglass
effort, we see that he is using arguments that trace back to the ancient Platonic ideas to support his
stance on the equally ancient question of citizenship.
From the beginning of his speech, Frederick Douglass uses specific language to create a distance
between him and his audience. Although he calls his listeners fellow citizens, Douglass refers to the
United States and its independence as your nation and your freedom. This explains Douglass view of
his position in the country: he was a citizen, although not officially recognized as one, but this land
was not his. The question of citizenship raised in the U.S. at Douglass time resembles the situation in
Athens at Plato s time. There, only 15% of the population were citizens with full rights of participation
in the Athenian democracy. While Plato does not address this issue in the Gorgias or the in the

Remember The Titans Themes
In the film remember the titans directed by Boaz Yakin is a film set in Alexandria Virginia in 1971.
There are many themes portrayed. An example of one of the themes is a change in the character
towards overcoming racism and uses effects such as camera angles and symbolism. These changes
will be shown by Gerry s character in the movie. At the beginning of the movie the first school was
being merged and none of the races was happy about it. Gerry is strongly racist this is shown by when
the riot happens when a white shopkeeper kills a black teenager and ray calls from the fence to join
the protest, they follow ray until coach Yoast drives to stop them and says Get in the truck. Gary. Alan.
Ray. If you ever want to play for me again, then get in the truck, now . Another example is when
Gerry says to coach Tyrell I do not want to play with any of them black animals . After that, one of the
major turning points is when Gerry and Julius sit down after a game Julius tells Gerry to block for the
blacks and Gerry says That is the worst attitude I have ever heard and then Julius replies ... Show

This relationship grows stronger when they win a game and start saying left side strong side . This

and Julius tell them to turn back and stop walking out this shows they are working as a great team. In
the hospital scene when Gerry gets hit by a truck and is paralyzed from the waist down, he only wants

Hamlet, Shakespeare s Spectacle Essay
Deceit, mystery, murder, and betrayal are all very captivating and together have the makings for a
daytime soap opera. In this case, however, they are a part of the tragedy of Hamlet. The most regaling
aspects of this play, despite the entertaining and compelling qualities just mentioned, are the revenge
and the surprisingly unappealing nature of the main character, Hamlet. Throughout the play, Hamlet
makes stupid choices that will ultimately lead to his own death, and the death of many around him.
Hamlet should not be identified as a courageous hero seeking to avenge his father but instead as a
coward lacking determination.
Hamlet and revenge are almost synonymous. Hamlet and determination are not. As a primary theme of

repent. While Claudius was praying, Hamlet thought, I, his sole son, do this same villain send/ to
heaven...No! / Up, sword, and know thou a more horrid hent (3.3.77 88). Hamlet did not kill Claudius,
as he didn t want him to go to heaven and decided to procrastinate even further. Hamlet s weak
choices can be compared to that of a train wreck. The choices are unbelievable and passersby, or in
this case readers, just cannot look away. Hamlet sees the wrongdoings surrounding him and does
nothing. As Ronald Knowles says, He believes only too well that murder and incest are bad and in
need of corrective action... but such a resolution is dialectically reversed from action to words (1056
1057). Hamlet lacks the courage to do what he desires and deems right. To me, if you don t do what
you think is right you are the biggest coward of all.
Does bravery increase with age or is a person less likely to stand for what is right because they have
more at stake? Hamlet, as we can infer from the play, is an adult, and not a valiant one at that. When
Hamlet is speaking to one of the gravediggers you come to find out, he is thirty years old. For a grown
man, and one who is meant to be a king, Hamlet is melodramatic for no reason and he presents
himself as an emotionally unbalanced teenager. Well known author T.S. Eliot also believes Hamlet

Exploring The Scars Of Centuries Essay

Exploring the Scars of Centuries Human slavery is a phenomenon that has been present since the
times of the Romans and the Greeks. As a common misconception, societies, especially America s
tend to believe that slavery was always black. Throughout a period of enslavement, human beings
have again and again treated slavery and racial hierarchy as an act of the norm embedded in human
behavior, which they use in order to make a clear distinction between them and us to justify such
atrocious and immortal acts. With careful analysis of premature human enslavement, whiteness as
beauty, the west and the rest, disparities between European ethnic groups, the study of anthropology,
white slavery, linguistic movements, popular culture and different political institutions supported by
America s governing law, the creation of the white race is drawn. With emphasis on the role played by
Irish and Black Americans, the support of structural forces and cultural practices taken from historical
examples drawn from the literary works of Harris, Painter, Roediger and Katznelson, slavery
misconceptions, the distinction between races, the formation of the white race and its benefits and the
homogeneity between black and slavery become apparent. Taking the broader history of human
enslavement into account, slavery seen during the time of the Greeks and the Romans shows an
enormous misconception of slavery: slavery was not

Prometheus And Zeus Start From Different Sides Of An...
Originating from different sides of an ancient and bloody war, Prometheus and Zeus start from
different ends of a spectrum. As a young god, Zeus is thereby a young ruler. His inexperience in ruling
is obvious. Zeus had established his reign by violently overthrowing his father in a bloody war and
spread his rule through subjugation. By imprisoning Cronus and the Titans in Tartarus and appointing
his relatives and children in positions under him, Zeus forcefully raised himself into the position of a
supreme ruler. Zeus knows no methods apart from vigorous and powerful ones in order to maintain his
authority. In the beginning of the play in which Prometheus is being chained to a rock, Power and
Force act as agents of Zeus and command Hephaestus. Zeus is defined by strength and harshness.
They are the characteristics that have exalted him to his high position as a supreme ruler and they are
now used to pave his way toward absolute dominance. He is harsh, as all those new to power are harsh
(Aeschylus 2). Zeus s cruel methods are noticed and even criticized by those who serve him.
However, none oppose him because of the fear Zeus instilled into them. And all the same I am
required to bear it: it s hard to set aside my father s words (Aeschylus 2). Hephaestus shows discontent
towards Zeus s decisions and only shows obedience because he is afraid of Zeus. Though he does not
oppose Zeus, he sympathizes with Prometheus as he chains him to a rock. Aah Prometheus, I m sorry

Corporate Transparency And Efficient Resource Allocation
Introduction A successful organization depends on a solid strategic plan that includes how it intends to
handle transparency. In his article, (Champy, 2008) emphasizes several principles he discovered while
researching organizations for his book, the one that resonates with both my personal and professional
life is to be completely open and transparent. He further goes on to outline the needs of a culture that
embraces and values transparency. Indeed, many experts and professionals agree that corporate
transparency and efficient resource allocation are closely related. The transparency, or essentially the
clear picture, as it relates to resource allocation allows organizations to regularly direct their assets in
the right directions, making it easier for them to be allocated in more productive and useful areas of
the organization. The rationale for this strategy is fairly simple; having a clear picture means
additional assurance for the investing parties Francis et al., (2009). Using the roadmaps created from
the strategic plan, smart leaders easily figure out the risks involved, and take necessary measures to
eliminate or ameliorate them. Similarly, organizational transparency on a whole is equally important
for all the organization s stakeholders, especially potential investors. This allows investors to easily
weigh their options by evaluating any critical information, and also the fact that the doings of the
organizations are there to be seen by everyone

The Massacre Of The Innocents Analysis
The Massacre of the innocents gives the viewer a glimpse into the life and artistic journey of Flemish
Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are reading the
journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration from great
artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One can clearly see
elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that he carefully
studied. (Jaffe,10)
The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King Herod
ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the dimensions 142 x
182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like many of Rubens artworks
has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full spectrum of human emotions.
Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some dead and others brutally injured.
Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or trying to escape from the soldiers by
scratching or biting (Williams, 1).
Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van
Noort. However, Ruben entered his apprenticeship with Otto van Veen in 1594, who had the most
profound influence on Rubens work in his early years. The early works of Rubens were heavily
influenced by the works of Van Veen and Renaissance

A Doll House Character Analysis
Since the beginning of humanity people fought for resources and land to fulfill their selfish needs.
Animals also show the characteristic of selfishness whether it is a mother stealing to feed her child or
two male birds fighting for a mate. However, donating to the poor or helping the disabled is an act of
selflessness. This can also be understood in humans as selflessness and selfishness is an instinctually
necessary habit that requires balance. This shift between selfishness to selflessness is shown during
1879 in Europe s social culture. The social culture allowed men to create an egoistic and manipulative
characteristic because of this instinctual imbalance. In the play, A Doll House, written by Henrik Ibsen
in 1879, one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another piece of evidence in the dialogue is when Nora took up copying work that Torvald thought it
was for decorating the Christmas tree which he mocked her saying it was sorry (382). This again
suggests Nora s selflessness for taking the taunting and teasing even though she was trying to pay
back the loan she borrowed to save Trovald, who mocks her. The underlying beneficial reason is Nora
s care for her family and her fear of her husband finding out. Lastly, through this pain and fear the
shift in characterization starts to occur.
Secondly, towards the end of the play, Nora s characterization shifts to self serving because it is
advantageous to her situation. The shift in her character to selfishness is seen when she admits, The
trip was to save my husband s life (389). This shows her egocentric act against the law by committing
forgery in order to acquire money to save her husband. She commits this selfish act towards her own
advantage for her family. Although the egocentric act is an illegal crime, she justifies it with her moral
necessity. Lastly, Nora s transition to a selfish character can be seen with the use of a prop and the
movement with the prop when she hits [Dr. Rank] lightly on the ear with the stockings (395). The
prop exemplifies a sexual item to which the movement is seen in a flirtatious manner in order to ask
for a favor. The advantage of

My Day Of School After Winter Break
Numb Toes and Good Times
There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the first
snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I can see myself now, getting released on my last day of
school before winter break. Second grade might not have been a struggle, but a couple weeks off of
school was just what a little me needed. I trudged home through the snow and slush. The sidewalks
were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints made by others or risk
a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin peeled across my face.
This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th. Christmas mostly meant a
couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite vacation out west to the
mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all seven of us; heads morphed
onto the Little Rascals characters. At the time this was probably relatively funny, but now it s pretty
much just embarrassing. The poems on the cards were always the best, I m sure my second grader
friends couldn t interpret the jokes my mom wrote, but their moms would. We would start planning
our Christmas cards around September, it was way too early but I guess it was necessary, to create a
comic masterpiece. I never understood how she made everything rhyme and flow so well, it still
amazes me to this day.
When I finally made it home, like clockwork, my mom yelled at me

Rhode Island s Public Policy Guidelines Essay
Abstract
Rhode Islands Future has been established to resolve Rhode Island s need to address the issues of a
failing elementary and secondary education system. Currently, Rhode Island students are being
outperformed by Massachusetts students on national tests. Although Rhode Island and Massachusetts
spend about the same on public education per student. Differences are identified in the management of
the schools and the degree of state influence. The main issues focused in this research will be on
examining and determining if Rhode Island should adopt more of the management and governance
models that Massachusetts uses, which could open the door for empowered schools in Rhode Island.
Proposed public policy guidelines, best practices, evaluations on potential educational funding, cost
benefit analysis, and risks will be analyzed. Finally, this report will look into what possible
recommendations could be made from the outcome of this research.
Introduction
Focusing on Rhode Island s future, which encompasses the education of our youth is a continuing
topic of discussion. However, it is emphasized when neighboring states are outperforming Rhode
Island s public school children. Complicating the issue is the performance of Rhode Island public
school children fall near or even slightly below the national average on several standardized tests.

The speed, extent and tenacity of Cistercian expansion was by all accounts extraordinary, and one that
seemed to differ greatly from the other monastic movements of the twelfth century. Their growth from
one to seven foundations, to more than three hundred in the space of fifty years was almost entirely
unexpected by contemporary standards. However, when one delves into the history of the order and
looks at the factors that differentiated it from other similar monastic institutions of the same period
one begins to see a number of portentous factors that undoubtedly contributed to such explosive
growth.
Perhaps one reason for Cistercian expansion was the Social Catholicity of it s appeal. This was

Another feature of the Cistercians that was certainly different to other twelfth century monastic

The Movie, The Joy Luck Club, By Amy Tan
In the movie, the Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, we see many examples of the challenges of
intercultural translations. The movie portrays cultural conflict between Chinese culture and the
American culture as portrayed by the lives of four mothers and their daughters. The mothers were

Traditionalism In Texas
The United States of America is a country priding itself on providing equal opportunity for the right of
life, liberty, and property. These unalienable rights, according to the Founding Fathers, were not to be

be classified as a citizen s right to be protected by the government from abuse or death. Property
classifies the right that a citizen has for owning materialistic items and land for which can be

Texas case served as the tip of the iceberg into advancing the gay rights movement in Texas and
nationwide. Without the case as well as the specific decision made by the Supreme Court, Texas

PICOT QUESTIONS
ON OXYGENATION EBS Process Question
Within a community of residing adults, what is the effectiveness of hands only CPR compared with
the hands used together with breathing CPR when trying to prevent mortality?
PICOT Problem Statement
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in community residing adults using hands only CPR versus breathing
and hand use CPR are both useful when trying to avoid death if the people involved are fully aware of
the precautions and steps to take while undertaking the process.
Patient and Clinical Problems
Patients who are suffering from cardiac arrests and neurologic outcomes have a high chance of
needing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Efficient use of both hands only CPR versus breathing and
hand use CPR may improve their survival chances and boost their neurologic outcomes when they
undergo any form of an attack. The hands only CPR versus breathing and hand use CPR training
programs assist nurses, and the public on the treatment criteria to efficiently handle patients with
cardiac arrests emergencies, resulting in an increase of the cardiac arrests survival rates for many
patients across the world (Lamboy Donohue, 2015).
The hands only CPR versus breathing and hand use CPR involves the nurses or an individual doing
chest compressions, in addition to artificial ventilation that is used to sustain the circulatory flow of
blood and the oxygenation of the lungs during the cardiac arrests. Hands only CCR involves only the

Character Analysis Of Linda Loman In Death Of A Salesman
One of the main characters in the play, Death of a Salesman, is Linda Loman. Linda Loman faces
many difficulties in this play, one of which is being part an affair she was unaware of. In the play,
there are many sides to one story, and there are many stories with many sides. Death of a Salesman
can be portrayed in an array of ways, depending on the form of literary criticism used.
Linda Loman is the mother of Biff and Happy. Her husband is Willy Loman. Her character is viewed
as the protagonist. The true colors of Mrs. Loman come out as the play progresses. The characteristics
of the pathological dynamics of the Loman family (Cohen) are also played out.
Her son, Biff sees her as a strong woman. Biff doesn t think Linda needs Willy in her life. Biff thinks
Willy holds the family back. He s got no character Charley wouldn t do this. Not in his own house
spewing out that vomit from his mind (Miller 38). Woman are thought to be dependent on men. The
way Biff, her oldest son, views her is different than society views her.
Happy sees Linda as a sweet woman who thrives. He thinks she can do no wrong. Happy views her as
the perfect housewife. He thinks she can do anything for him and that if he wants something, she ll
make it happen. Hey, what re you doing up? Where s Pop? Is he sleeping? We met two girls, Mom,
very fine types. Here we brought you some flowers. Put them in you room, Ma (Miller 94). Happy
wants the best for her, but what he views as the best, is not

The Excerpt From Newcomer By Mehri Yalfan
Canada is referred to as a land of immigrants since a large number of newcomers have settled here and
helped to enhance and preserve its ethnicity and diversity. Every country has its own norms and
principles in accommodating new immigrants and assisting them to settle down. However, not all the
immigrants are fortunate enough to sustain the uncertain circumstances that they had foreseen before
migrating to a new country. While in the process of adjusting to a new society, these settlers are often
reminded of the fact that they are not in their own country. Such circumstances put them in a tight spot
of returning back to their homeland. Thus, taking instances from the writings of Mehri Yalfani, Isabel
Vincent and Himani Benerji, the facts that new immigrants have to come across various complications
throughout their journey of settlement to a new country, are being raised in the subsequent part of this
journal. Moreover, the issues related to racism in Canada and the assurance of equality and freedom
from racial discrimination to the Canadians are also reflected below.
First and foremost, new immigrants encounter copious issues to fit in the new society. The major
concern among these problems is the language barrier. The excerpt from Newcomer written by Mehri
Yalfani s highlights the challenges that Susan, an immigrant from Iran, faced throughout her course of
understanding and speaking English. According to the story, both the hesitation to be fluent in an alien

Essay about Gender and Race During the U.S. Occupation of...
The Fifteen Year War was a time of great turmoil and uncertainty in Japan. Various facets of the
country were tested and driven to their limits. During the occupation, race and gender began to evolve
in ways that had not exactly be seen before. War had a tremendous impact on every part of the life of a
Japanese citizen. Both men and women began to fill roles that were completely novel to them. Race
became a part of the definition of who people were. As the war progressed and American troops
landed on Japanese soil for occupation, more drastic changes occurred. Economic hardship and rations
befell the people of the Land of the Rising Sun. Prostitution began to rear its ugly head and rape
transpired. Through memory, research, and vivid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prime example of this is Seita and Setsuko s female cousin. There are several mentions during a
portion of the film about her status as a worker. Her mother, Seita and Setsuko s aunt, believes it to be
patriotic and work toward the country and war effort. There is nobility in working for the war, in it as
a man of the military or on home soil as a woman. The aunt makes her opinion about this abundantly
clear; her critique is hard to ignore. Her grueling dogging of the main protagonists also is a critique of
gender roles. What she says is most often just as important as how she says it. Her tone is often
militant even in nature, again emphasizing the importance of the war. She is a motivator and a drill
sergeant. Japanese soil is as much a war zone as the places of actual war. Her role in the household is
scattered with masculine traits. Setsuko s and Seita s hiatus of habitation under their aunt s roof
enabled a sense of independence happiness not seen before for Seita and Setusko. For example, she
has Seita sell his mother s kimono for rice. Control of finances is a facet of the male gender role. Yet
she convinced Seita to sell the clothing with ease. In this is evidence that a woman with a set of
masculine role traits is worth more or possesses greater power than a feminized male. In the end
however, this double standard still exhibits a sense of inferiority for the female gender because a
woman must change from what

Marketing communications are intended to both inform and persuade a target audience, with a view to
influence the behaviour of that group. The behaviour of interest to organizations can range from
encouraging owners to adopt improved practices or to produce a particular product or service. As has

overall marketing strategy, and this includes marketing communications.

  • 2. Essay on The American Automotive Industry The American automotive industry has led the American economy for many years. This industry has shaped our development, and influenced American culture and social mores. Now, ensnared by globalization and other dominant factors, it faces a difficult reality. The American automotive industry significantly impacted the lives of Americans. Detroit s Big Three had the most significant roles in this. Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors were American symbols. They are credited for a significant percentage of all American jobs; they put numerous blue collar families into the middle class, and helped America cultivate into the giant of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, the fabled automotive firms are not what they once were and are traveling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the beginning of a new era in automotive history. Before this time, fuel consumption and air quality was not demanded by the American consumer. Due to the fact that foreign car manufacturers perceive to have the edge on fuel efficiency and emission standards, the foreign industry has an advantage in that sector of automotives. The American industry is capable of taking over by creating alternative energy sources. Alternative energy sources for cars, such as natural gas, electricity, ethanol, vegetable oil, sunlight, and water, contend for consumer use. The US pioneered the alternative fuel source in 1996 when GM released the EV1, an emission free car. In 2004 the Ford Motor Company became the first U.S. automaker to produce a hybrid vehicle. The Ford Escape Hybrid, introduced for the 2005 model year, was both the first hybrid made in the United States and the first hybrid sport utility vehicle. The US must pursue this area of research into further development if it wants to regain control of the automotive industry. The second factor that is contributing to the automotive industry s demise is our foreign trade policy. This foreign trade policy is very lenient for alien countries. Our trade policy allows foreign countries to avoid taxes and duties, while other countries have strict ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They raised their families, traded their livestock, and harvested their crops here. The ancient Toubou also painted and engraved beautiful rock art that archeologists later discovered. Lastly, there are still Toubou people living in the Tibesti Mountains to this day. The Tibesti Mountains, also known as the Tibesti Massif, are extremely dangerous and volcanic mountains. The animals that were carved or painted were the animals that were hunted or lived in their nearby are, some of which are now extinct. Some of these animals that are still around today include hippos, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and even fish. Some of the new paintings include ostriches and antelope. Another type of engraving they would see often would be owoza, which were portray warriors, wearing feathers and they were armed with shields and knives. Some were dance scenes. Some paintings discovered were over 6 feet in height. The art shows the culture of the ancient people of Chad. During the Pastoral period, the engravings or paintings showed men herding their cattle or hunting, while the women and children were hanging around camp. In addition, there was a lot of horse art found, which is some of the most interesting art. The paintings of the scenes that are more pastoral are painted with a red base because the red base signifies towards domestication in the Tibesti Mountains. There is so much rock art in the Tibesti Mountains that archaeologists believe they have only found less than half of the art that is still out there. There are nearly as many different beliefs in regards to the act of sex as there are for something as prominent and controversial as religion. It is a topic that the majority of individuals do not want to discuss, yet it is something that the majority of everyone is intrigued about. Throughout this research paper we will take a closer look at sexual intercourse within the human species by attempting to define what sex is, find out who partakes in this deed, determine when it is typically done, and finally reveal why it is done. All of these communications assume that the speakers and listeners share a definition of sex that is clear, consistent across situations, and unbiased by personal motives. In fact, there is limited research evaluating individuals definitions of sex, and the research that does exist seems based on implicit assumptions that may be problematic in some ways. (Peterson Muehlenhard, 2007, p. 256 268) This statement is implying that they back the notion that the definition of sex is still unknown; one hundred different individuals would give you one hundred different definitions of the enigmatic term sex . Additionally, this confusion is established in an article by Judith Mackay (2011) when she states that sex research, where it exists, is usually fertility related rather than sex oriented. Even definitions vary. There is no agreed definition of sex counseling, obscenity, or even what people mean by the term sex, all making comparable analysis difficult. But there is no way that we could go any further into this research without establishing a set definition, so the misperception must end now. For the sake of this research paper, sex will be defined as any vaginal, anal, or oral intercourse between two or more individuals. These three different forms of sex are often involved in sexual intercourse, but these terms can be ambiguous to many customary individuals. As these schools grown in number and increase in grade level however, less become established and there tend to be a smaller amount of high schools within a city compared to elementary or middle. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How are low income schools different than higher income schools? This is a concerning issue because if there continues to be a financial difference between educational institutions that affects the quality of schools, there will be an entire generation of students that will have received a poor education and have limited opportunities of successfully integrating with society compared to graduates that attained a higher quality education from a higher income school. This decreases social mobility of low income school graduates, continues stratification, and may encourage low income graduates to enact in high risk illegal acts to support themselves and families since they were not properly prepared to be college ready in high school. Political figures such as President Trump, have used social media to embarrass himself and the country, countless people lose jobs everyday due to posts on social media, and Kids are influenced into making bad decisions because of trends. One of the major key events in all of this is the development of Facebook . Facebook was one of the very first platforms that allowed everyone to access it, ever since then, our modern lifestyle has been in a decline. Social media is a common tool in modern life, however, it has caused many problems, including a corruption in our political system, damaging careers, and having a negative impact on children. With social media having such a value to society today, it is crucial to correct these errors in social media. Politics is one area where social media can change the entire country. When social media was introduced in a political candidate, it turned the voting system into a game, as shown by the article Social Media and Politics As easy as it is for politicians to reach out to voters on sites like Facebook, it is even easier for these online supporters to abandon politicians when the campaign ends (Social Media and Politics). By this, the author is stating that people who are influenced to vote by social media are likely to stop their support of the candidate after they win. This means that voters no longer care about the long term effect of a vote, after they vote they lose interest. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art is one way in which the individual can express his deepest thoughts by unravelling one s inner feelings, making them visible and vulnerable. • 11. The Importance Of The Louisiana Purchase In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson negotiated the Louisiana Purchase with France despite personal qualms of its constitutionality. The Louisiana Territory nearly doubled the size of the United States, including the major port city of New Orleans. Despite his personal reading of the Constitution, Jefferson understood that it was more important for the country to act decisively and buy the land than to await an amendment to the Constitution. Jefferson, acting within the right of the president to negotiate treaties, pursued the Louisiana Purchase primarily due to the political threat of the nearby French territory and the economic importance of New Orleans. On several occasions, Jefferson recognized the danger that France s ownership of the Louisiana territory poses to American liberty. In a letter to Robert Livingston, Jefferson boldly announced that France placing herself in that door assumes to us the attitude of defiance. Jefferson asserted that France s control over New Orleans presents a direct threat to the United States. Later on, Jefferson wrote, The day that France takes possession of New Orleans fixes the sentence which is to restrain her forever within her low watermark... Both companies produce the hottest smartphones on the market with all the latest features, from fingerprint scanner to waterproof technology. Even though they are the phones that are more expensive they are expensive for a reason, and the reason is because they have the latest technology and are built with great quality. I personally like Samsung over Apple because Samsung freely lets you organize and personalize your own phone, while Apple only really lets you change the wallpaper. First of all, these two companies have sold millions of phones to people worldwide. Samsung is a South Korean company while Apple is founded in the United States of America. Samsung sold approximately 83.4 million phones, but that number decreased because of the battery issue on the Samsung Note 7, which was a overheating problem that was causing the battery to overheat and then explode and there were some incidents that people reported burned them while their phone was on their pocket or while it was charging, and the number decreased to 76.7, while apple sold approximately 77 million phones. Media Based Interaction Started Long Before The Internet The study of media based interaction started long before the Internet by looking at feedback as a concept (Wiener, 1948; Shannon Weaver, 1949; Kiousis, 2002). Ultimately, online story comments online connect to the idea of feedback (Wiener, 1948; Nordlund, 1978). As it relates to digital environments people have been more likely to seek feedback online compared to those engaged in person to person conversations (Ang Cummings, 1994). Synchronous and asynchronous communication In the past, there was an issue of public expectation and the consumer should not presume continuous or immediate feedback (Schudson, 1978). This partially explains why the ability to engage in interactivity has been considered one of the advantages of digital media (Morris Ogan, 1997). Immediacy within communication has not been necessary to support common action, but the ability to communicate in real time could make a digital community feel more tangible to its users (Marathe, 1999). Therefoe, a need remains to understand the differences between synchronous and asynchronous communication as it relates to digital communication. For example, synchronous communication tools because of their expectation of quicker retort can lead to additional interaction (Shirani, Tafti Affisco, 1999). Meanwhile, with asynchronous communication tools the communication can deeper and more detailed, yet there is less interaction (Shirani, Tafti Affisco, 1999). The ability to engage in synchronous communication may represent an important part of the maintenance of virtual communities (Porter, 2004). There are some websites that engage in synchronous, asynchronous, and hybrid (both synchronous and asynchronous) communication (Porter, 2004). Early studies on digital interactivity suggested the immediacy of response was only part of the potential for online interactivity; there also existed the possibility for discussions to ... Due to the extensive testing that these two organizations did and the fact that they are very reputable, there is enough evidence that medical marijuana should be used to help patients. Since marijuana is readily available, and there is research to confirm its medical uses, there is no reason not to use it. Opponents of the use of medical marijuana argue that it could have unintended societal consequences. Robert L. DuPont of the National Institute on Drug Abuse argues that teen attitudes to marijuana are linked to medical marijuana laws, and that medical marijuana would normalize drug use ( Teen Drug Use ). This is not true. The Institute of Medicine was asked to conduct a study on medical marijuana by the White House. The IOM concluded that, among other things, the use of medical marijuana would not increase recreational usage rates of marijuana (Koch). Since this organization is clearly reputable, there is enough evidence that the legalization medical marijuana wouldn t affect the general population s use of marijuana in any way. • 19. The Slave By Frederick Douglass Concepts, techniques, and ways of thinking can last much longer than their creators. The philosophy of Plato is an example of that. Its ideas can be found in a speech written thousands of years later. In What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? Frederick Douglass, a former slave, addresses an audience of white abolitionists on July 5th of 1852. He focuses on the disparity between the American values celebrated on the Independence Day and the issue of slavery. To do so, Douglass raises the question of to whom those values apply and explains why and how it should be different. Analyzing Douglass effort, we see that he is using arguments that trace back to the ancient Platonic ideas to support his stance on the equally ancient question of citizenship. From the beginning of his speech, Frederick Douglass uses specific language to create a distance between him and his audience. Although he calls his listeners fellow citizens, Douglass refers to the United States and its independence as your nation and your freedom. This explains Douglass view of his position in the country: he was a citizen, although not officially recognized as one, but this land was not his. The question of citizenship raised in the U.S. at Douglass time resembles the situation in Athens at Plato s time. There, only 15% of the population were citizens with full rights of participation in the Athenian democracy. In this case, however, they are a part of the tragedy of Hamlet. The most regaling aspects of this play, despite the entertaining and compelling qualities just mentioned, are the revenge and the surprisingly unappealing nature of the main character, Hamlet. Throughout the play, Hamlet makes stupid choices that will ultimately lead to his own death, and the death of many around him. Avila 8 June 2015 Exploring the Scars of Centuries Human slavery is a phenomenon that has been present since the times of the Romans and the Greeks. As a common misconception, societies, especially America s tend to believe that slavery was always black. Throughout a period of enslavement, human beings have again and again treated slavery and racial hierarchy as an act of the norm embedded in human behavior, which they use in order to make a clear distinction between them and us to justify such atrocious and immortal acts. With careful analysis of premature human enslavement, whiteness as beauty, the west and the rest, disparities between European ethnic groups, the study of anthropology, white slavery, linguistic movements, popular culture and different political institutions supported by America s governing law, the creation of the white race is drawn. With emphasis on the role played by Irish and Black Americans, the support of structural forces and cultural practices taken from historical examples drawn from the literary works of Harris, Painter, Roediger and Katznelson, slavery misconceptions, the distinction between races, the formation of the white race and its benefits and the homogeneity between black and slavery become apparent. • 23. Prometheus And Zeus Start From Different Sides Of An... Originating from different sides of an ancient and bloody war, Prometheus and Zeus start from different ends of a spectrum. As a young god, Zeus is thereby a young ruler. His inexperience in ruling is obvious. Zeus had established his reign by violently overthrowing his father in a bloody war and spread his rule through subjugation. By imprisoning Cronus and the Titans in Tartarus and appointing his relatives and children in positions under him, Zeus forcefully raised himself into the position of a supreme ruler. Zeus knows no methods apart from vigorous and powerful ones in order to maintain his authority. In the beginning of the play in which Prometheus is being chained to a rock, Power and Force act as agents of Zeus and command Hephaestus. Zeus is defined by strength and harshness. They are the characteristics that have exalted him to his high position as a supreme ruler and they are now used to pave his way toward absolute dominance. He is harsh, as all those new to power are harsh (Aeschylus 2). Zeus s cruel methods are noticed and even criticized by those who serve him. However, none oppose him because of the fear Zeus instilled into them. And all the same I am required to bear it: it s hard to set aside my father s words (Aeschylus 2). • 25. Corporate Transparency And Efficient Resource Allocation Introduction A successful organization depends on a solid strategic plan that includes how it intends to handle transparency. In his article, (Champy, 2008) emphasizes several principles he discovered while researching organizations for his book, the one that resonates with both my personal and professional life is to be completely open and transparent. He further goes on to outline the needs of a culture that embraces and values transparency. Indeed, many experts and professionals agree that corporate transparency and efficient resource allocation are closely related. The transparency, or essentially the clear picture, as it relates to resource allocation allows organizations to regularly direct their assets in the right directions, making it easier for them to be allocated in more productive and useful areas of the organization. The rationale for this strategy is fairly simple; having a clear picture means additional assurance for the investing parties Francis et al., (2009). Using the roadmaps created from the strategic plan, smart leaders easily figure out the risks involved, and take necessary measures to eliminate or ameliorate them. Similarly, organizational transparency on a whole is equally important for all the organization s stakeholders, especially potential investors. This allows investors to easily weigh their options by evaluating any critical information, and also the fact that the doings of the organizations are there to be seen by everyone ... When one looks at the painting, it is as if they are reading the journal of the artist. The artist s personal style, which was developed through inspiration from great artists such as Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael, stands out in this painting. One can clearly see elements of the painting which have been influenced by the works of the artists that he carefully studied. (Jaffe,10) The painting itself is an artistic representation of the account told in the Gospel where King Herod ordered the killing of infant boys. The painting was made in c.1610 BCE, has the dimensions 142 x 182 cm and uses the medium oil on wood (Jaffe, 73, 194). The painting, like many of Rubens artworks has a dynamic sense of movement along with the expression of the full spectrum of human emotions. Children can be seen being torn from their mother s arms, some dead and others brutally injured. Mothers are shown mourning over the death of their child or trying to escape from the soldiers by scratching or biting (Williams, 1). Rubens artistic training began in the 1590 s under the guidance of Tobias Verhaecht and Adam van Noort. Animals also show the characteristic of selfishness whether it is a mother stealing to feed her child or two male birds fighting for a mate. However, donating to the poor or helping the disabled is an act of selflessness. This can also be understood in humans as selflessness and selfishness is an instinctually necessary habit that requires balance. This shift between selfishness to selflessness is shown during 1879 in Europe s social culture. The social culture allowed men to create an egoistic and manipulative characteristic because of this instinctual imbalance. Another piece of evidence in the dialogue is when Nora took up copying work that Torvald thought it was for decorating the Christmas tree which he mocked her saying it was sorry (382). This again suggests Nora s selflessness for taking the taunting and teasing even though she was trying to pay back the loan she borrowed to save Trovald, who mocks her. The underlying beneficial reason is Nora s care for her family and her fear of her husband finding out. Lastly, through this pain and fear the shift in characterization starts to occur. Secondly, towards the end of the play, Nora s characterization shifts to self serving because it is advantageous to her situation. The shift in her character to selfishness is seen when she admits, The trip was to save my husband s life (389). This shows her egocentric act against the law by committing forgery in order to acquire money to save her husband. She commits this selfish act towards her own advantage for her family. Although the egocentric act is an illegal crime, she justifies it with her moral necessity. Lastly, Nora s transition to a selfish character can be seen with the use of a prop and the movement with the prop when she hits [Dr. Rank] lightly on the ear with the stockings (395). The prop exemplifies a sexual item to which the movement is seen in a flirtatious manner in order to ask for a favor. The advantage of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Day Of School After Winter Break Numb Toes and Good Times There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the first snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I trudged home through the snow and slush. The sidewalks were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints made by others or risk a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin peeled across my face. This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th. Christmas mostly meant a couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite vacation out west to the mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all seven of us; heads morphed onto the Little Rascals characters. • 41. The Excerpt From Newcomer By Mehri Yalfan Canada is referred to as a land of immigrants since a large number of newcomers have settled here and helped to enhance and preserve its ethnicity and diversity. Every country has its own norms and principles in accommodating new immigrants and assisting them to settle down. However, not all the immigrants are fortunate enough to sustain the uncertain circumstances that they had foreseen before migrating to a new country. While in the process of adjusting to a new society, these settlers are often reminded of the fact that they are not in their own country. Such circumstances put them in a tight spot of returning back to their homeland. Thus, taking instances from the writings of Mehri Yalfani, Isabel Vincent and Himani Benerji, the facts that new immigrants have to come across various complications throughout their journey of settlement to a new country, are being raised in the subsequent part of this journal. Various facets of the country were tested and driven to their limits. During the occupation, race and gender began to evolve in ways that had not exactly be seen before. War had a tremendous impact on every part of the life of a Japanese citizen. Both men and women began to fill roles that were completely novel to them. Race became a part of the definition of who people were. As the war progressed and American troops landed on Japanese soil for occupation, more drastic changes occurred. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A prime example of this is Seita and Setsuko s female cousin. There are several mentions during a portion of the film about her status as a worker. Her mother, Seita and Setsuko s aunt, believes it to be patriotic and work toward the country and war effort. There is nobility in working for the war, in it as a man of the military or on home soil as a woman. The aunt makes her opinion about this abundantly clear; her critique is hard to ignore. Her grueling dogging of the main protagonists also is a critique of gender roles. What she says is most often just as important as how she says it. Her tone is often militant even in nature, again emphasizing the importance of the war. She is a motivator and a drill sergeant. Japanese soil is as much a war zone as the places of actual war. Her role in the household is scattered with masculine traits. Setsuko s and Seita s hiatus of habitation under their aunt s roof enabled a sense of independence happiness not seen before for Seita and Setusko. For example, she has Seita sell his mother s kimono for rice. Control of finances is a facet of the male gender role. Yet she convinced Seita to sell the clothing with ease. In this is evidence that a woman with a set of masculine role traits is worth more or possesses greater power than a feminized male. In the end however, this double standard still exhibits a sense of inferiority for the female gender because a woman must change from what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
