My Favourite Hobby Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Hobby" may initially seem like a straightforward
task, given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of one's
preferences and articulating them effectively can prove to be a more challenging endeavor than
anticipated.
To begin with, the challenge lies in finding a balance between personal expression and
relatability. While the essay should reflect your unique experiences and emotions regarding your
favorite hobby, it is essential to convey these thoughts in a way that resonates with a broader
audience. This requires honing your writing skills to transform subjective sentiments into
universally comprehensible and engaging prose.
Furthermore, structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Organizing thoughts coherently and
maintaining a logical flow is crucial to ensure that readers can follow your narrative without
confusion. Striking the right balance between introducing your hobby, narrating your
experiences, and reflecting on its significance can be a nuanced task that demands careful
consideration.
Additionally, there is the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions. As a writer,
it's vital to steer clear of overused phrases and generic statements that could make your essay
appear uninspired or unoriginal. Instead, the goal is to present your favorite hobby in a fresh and
captivating light, allowing readers to connect with your passion on a deeper level.
Ultimately, the difficulty in writing an essay on this topic lies in the fine line between self-
expression and audience engagement. It demands a thoughtful exploration of your hobby, a
mastery of effective communication, and a creative approach to make your essay stand out
amidst a sea of similar narratives.

Personality According To Biological And Social...
My Little Brother s Personality According to Biological and Social Cognitive
Theories When I was a little girl, my parents were foster parents because they
wanted to adopt another child. Throughout my childhood, there were many
children who would come stay with us for a few days, sometimes a few weeks or
sometimes a few months. When I was 9 years old, my older sister, Miranda, and I
came home from school and noticed a little tricycle in our front yard. We ran
inside to meet this cute 17 months old little boy named Jordan. Jordan s biological
mother was a substance abuser and she continued to abuse while she was pregnant
with him. We suspect that this resulted in some of the learning and behavioral
problems that he deals with daily. Jordan is now 15 years old. As he has gotten
older, we have noticed how his personality differs from the rest of our family s. I
will be defining his personality by applying Eysenck s Biological Theory,
Temperament, and Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory. Eysenck s Biological
Theory Jordan has always been unapologetically annoying. He scores high on the
extraversion end of the first dimension. He is very social and rarely meets a
stranger. He is popular amongst his peers at school, which could mostly be because
they have all been going to school together since Kindergarten. He is in show choir,
and he also runs for the Cross Country team. Jordan spends most of his time hanging
out with friends, talking with friends, playing
Federal Bureaucracy
Federal Bureaucracy to what Extent does the President have Control of it?
When the framers of the Constitution developed our government, they gave Congress
the authority to create the departments necessary to carry out the day to day
responsibilities of governing the federal bureaucracy. The vast majority of the
departments, agencies, and commissions that make up the federal bureaucracy today
were created by Congress through legislative acts. Congress is unable to act in a
bubble though, due to the nature of the system s built in checks and balances,
Congress must first get the president s buy off which is represented by his signature.
Although Congress has the authority to create these agencies (with the president s
agreement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, only about three percent of all federal employees are appointed by the
president. Consequently, since the majority of bureaucrats are hired using the
merit based system they are not as compelled to be loyal to the president s will.
Under the merit based system, employees cannot be fired simply because they
have different political beliefs or don t adhere to the president s policy
preferences. Thus, although the president has a lot of power, when it comes to the
bureaucracy, it can be likened to having just a few cattle herders for thousands of
cattle. Not all of the cattle are going to want to go in the same direction and will
consequently have a tendency to split or wander off in their own direction despite
the desire and drive of the herders.
To sum things up when it comes to the bureaucracy, some of the controls that the
president has the authority to use are: appoint and remove agency heads, reorganize
the bureaucracy, make changes in budget proposals, reduce an agency s budget,
ignore initiatives from the bureaucracy, and issue executive orders. Nonetheless, even
with all of the powers and controls that the president possesses, taking into account
the sheer magnitude and breadth of the bureaucracy, having complete control over it
is not even feasible. In addition, even though the president is delegated the
responsibility of managing the bureaucracy, when throwing the influences of

The effects of lead on children s brains Essay
Once used for varying applications, lead is now known for its toxicity in the human
body. Dr. Gary Goldstein, the chief executive of Kennedy Krieger Institute wrote,
Exposure to excessive amounts of inorganic lead during toddler years may produce
lasting adverse effects upon brain function (Goldstein 1990). Leadpoisoning
awareness has become increasingly prevalent in the American government, with
lead poisoning testing recommended as early as nine to twelve months of age
(Health and Human Services 2011). This paper will explain briefly lead s history
and industrial uses, as well as give an in depth analysis on lead s exposure to
children and how it affects their developing brains. Lead, simply put, is an element

1991). Lead in modern America has been widely used. The major uses of lead in
the United States are in storage batteries (72%), gasoline additives and other
chemicals (13%), ammunition (shots and bullets, 4%), solder (2%), and other
uses (9%) (Harte 1991). Early industry favored lead over other metals because it
was easier to forge: it melts at a low temperature and is malleable, yet at the same
time is strong and does not rust (Ginsberg and Toal 2006). In 1985, The EPA
discussed having a total ban on leaded gasoline due to the large amounts of lead
emitted into the atmosphere. Therefore, in amendments to the Clean Air Act, lead
was banned in 1995 as a gasoline additive. Lead was an additive is gasoline for a
few reasons. First, lead improved the way gasoline was burned within the engine; it
reduced sounds caused by ignition in high performance engines and in smaller, high
compression engines. Lead also provided lubrication in the engines by preventing
the close fit parts of the engine from chafing against one another (Englebert
1998).The people mostly affected were the ones living near heavier vehicular traffic.
Upon inhalation of the lead emitted particles, absorption takes place easily from the
respiratory tract and symptoms tend to develop more quickly (Sax 1987).The lead
particles emitted through the burning of gasoline settled on the ground and
accumulated. In which was then readily absorbed into plants, making its way into
food produce (Harte et al.
The Influence Of The English Language
French is the eleventh most widely spoken language in the world. It is the official
language of 33 countries in the world and it is spoken in two of the G7 countries.
200 million people around the world understand, speak, read or write French and
the language is the mother tongue of 75 million people. French is the official
language of postal services across the world and is one of the official languages of
the International Red Cross. The French speaking Africa represents an area larger
than the USA. French is the most widely taught second language after English and
over 20,000 English words have their origins in French. In terms of number of words,
French is the second largest language after English. In the humanities and the social
sciences many of the most important writings have come from France.
Students and researchers who know French have access to these works for several
years before they are translated into English. Many significant works are never
translated and remain accessible only to those who know the language.
Historically France and the French language have had an enormous influence over
American society. France was the United States first ally. French thought played a
dominant role among the founders of the United States in the 18th century, and it
continues to shape America today through the influence of such intellectual currents
as post structuralism and post modernism. In the humanities and the social sciences,
many of the most important writings have
Underage Drinking Essay
Imagine killing your best friend. Imagine smashing him into a telephone
pole, crushing his bones and organs and making him bleed to death. Imagine
the pain and suffering he would go through. Imagine then going on trial for
his death, facing his family and friends and the hateful stares as you walk
in the courtroom. Imagine a verdict of guilty and being sentenced to thirty
years in prison, thirty long years to sit alone and ponder how you could have
been so stupid to kill someone you love.
How would a night like this have begun? It probably began like the night
of a typical American teenager. You would go pick up a carload of your
closest friends and head to the party scene. You have a few drinks, maybe a
beer or two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now imagine your freshman year of high school. You get invited to that
huge senior party, so of course you go. There are a million different types
of drinks there and you are offered a beer by some upperclassmen. You take
it and chug it, trying to impress them. They offer you another and another,
until finally you pass out. You are put, unconscious in a chair and the
party goes on. The next morning someone tries to wake you, but you won t
open your eyes. They call 911 and you are taken to the hospital. You are
rushed into the ER and 10 minutes later are pronounced dead due to alcohol
poisoning.
This is how alcohol affects the teenagers of America today. It ruins
lives and not only the lives of those who drink. It affects their friends
and family. It even affects people they do not know, the thousands of people
that are killed each year by drunk drivers. Many teens think they are
invincible, that nothing will ever happen to them. They will never drink too
much or be in an accident. But many lives are taken away because of underage
drinking. These people are killed in an instant, squashed like bugs on a
windshield. They never get to grow up and fulfill their dreams. They become
that bum on the street, staggering around and yelling obscene comments. They
are like the stray dog that never really finds a place in life.
So what is the solution to this problem? Stop the underage drinking.
Americans today need to wait until
Book Of Unknown American Analysis
My parents are one of the perfect role models, through their motivation and
inspiration, they strongly influenced my decision to be in college. In The Book of
Unknown Americans, by Christina HenrГquez, Celia, Mayor s mom said, When we
left PanamГЎ, it was falling apart. Rafa and I thought it would be better for the boys
to grow up here. Even though PanamГЎ was where we had spent our whole lives. It s
amazing, isn t it, what parents will do for their children? (57) Based on the quote, I
understand that they moved to the United Stated because of the future of their
children even though they had to leave their hometown. So did my parents. At first,
my mom didn t want to go to America because she doesn t know the language, the
weather is too different from Vietnam, and there s no family in here except my dad
and me. But... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this question is not hard for everyone and me to answer it. As being a waiter
for a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant; I have to hold at least a hot hundred bowls of
Pho, Vietnamese rice noodle, every day. My hands can be burnt anytime if I m
careless, it s not an easy job at all, that s the cause why I am in college. I got that
job about a month before the college starts, at first, I thought that the job is not too
hard for me to handle. But I was completely wrong; I feel like I m losing energy
day by day. Working hard for ten to twelve hours per day for only $10.30 per hour,
but sometimes my boss yells at me for no reason just because she s mad at
someone, or just tired. I realized that no one wants to do that kind of job, but they
don t have any choices, though. I know that everyone has their own American
dream, so do I. My biggest dream right now is to finish all the goals to get my
degree and then find a better job. Working in a restaurant is temporary, and it s just a
first step for me before doing something great in the
The Letter Of The Visa Card
I did something crazy this weekend and traveled two states away to see my brothers
and their families.
I have a BP visa card from Chase. I was filling our van up with gas in Pennsylvania
and it got declined.
Ironic Occurrence Number 1: My BP Visa Card was declined when I was filling up
with gas at a BP station!
Actually, I didn t know it was declined at the time. The readout at the pump said see
cashier . So, I tried again and it failed again and told me to see cashier again.
So, ya know what I did? I went and saw the cashier.
He was a nice guy with a Indian accent. Who d a thunk it? A guy from India at a gas
station? Yep. He was very helpful and told me I vas sviping it too vast . So, he
came out with me and showed me how to svipe it slower. And after he did...the result
was still see cashier .
Ironic Occurrence Number 2: The gas pump told the cashier he should see himself.
So, I used my other credit card and it worked fine.
I immediately called the phone number on the back of the card and I spoke to
another person from India. This time I think the person was actually located in
India! She told me my credit card was placed on hold for security reasons. She then
asked me all sorts of verifying questions; mother s maiden name, last four digits of
my social security number, whether I was circumcised or not and then told me
everything was okay and my purchases should go through from now on.
And, that s not what happened.
Ironic Occurrence Number 3: That
Immigrants Too Much Essay
When is Too Many Immigrants Too Much?
Illegal immigration has been exponentially escalating since 2002, the percentage of
illegal immigrants in the United States has grown from 39.2 percent to an increasing
59 percent. This shows that the immigrants population in the United States has
increased, which affects many parts of the nation. The subject of Illegal Immigration
in the United States is a social injustice, because the rise of illegal immigrants causes
economical and social problems, such as an increase in population and a lack of jobs,
and FAIR works to address this issue by regulating the numbers of illegal immigrants
entering the United States by placing national standards. Immigration is a matter that

As stated, The association of FAIR contributes a great deal to resolve the issue, such
as patrolling our borders to ensure that illegal immigrants do not enter the country
(Statement by the federation for american immigration reform (FAIR) 2015). It is
beneficial to have an organization like this, so in the future we can decrease the
amount of illegal immigrants and create more vacant jobs to existing American
citizens. FAIR believes that immigration reform must enhance national security,
improve the economy, protect jobs, preserve our environment, and establish a rule of
law that is recognized and enforced (Statement by the Federation for American
Immigration Reform FAIR 2013). The organization helps the two main problems we
face with illegal immigrants, overpopulation and economic opportunities. FAIR goes
beyond expectation in order to keep our country out of chaos. By using separation, it
will provide services for both illegal immigrants and existing immigrants. Overall, the
association of FAIR helps to maintain and control the number of illegal immigrants by
enacting separate services and border control.
The increasing number of illegal immigrants living or entering the United States is
rapidly growing, resulting in the influence of social and economic problems. This
proves how illegal immigration is a social

Controversies Of Shakespeare Sonnet 18
For Shakespeare Sonnet 18, there have been many controversies about what the
Sonnet is about. Some say it s about a woman, other say it s about a man. However,
one can believe that Sonnet 18 is about a man due to the background of Shakespeare,
plot, character, theme, symbols, settings, point of view, impact of society and style
based on the connotation of William Shakespeare.
Shakespeare was born during the 17th century. During this time, there were still
issues with religion. In fact, there was such a big problem that it went to war that
took 30 years. Yet, there was soon going to be an Industrial Revolution. However,
Shakespeare dropped out of school and there is no evidence that he went to college.
While Shakespeare was in his teens, he married an older woman, Anne Hathaway.
Not long after they were married, their 1st daughter was born then twins followed. In
the late 1580s, Shakespeare moved to London to pursue his career. However,
Hathaway lived in Stratford with her children. Many scholars believed that this
consulate as a separation. A scholar states, Some later observers have suggested that

Ecotourism in South American Countries Essay
Ecotourism in South American Countries
Synopsis:
We are living in a world that tends to put developed nations against indigenous
peoples. Foreign developers seeking cheap labor and natural resources on untouched
lands are exploiting cultures that have survived for centuries on their own.
South America is a continent that possesses rich indigenous culture that is still
relatively untouched by outsiders. Americans have the ability to preserve that
heritage through organized efforts to encourage certain types of visitors to
indigenous areas to create an economy that will take the place of potential mining,
logging, and ranching enterprises. That economy is ecotourism.

To act as a means of improving the status of these poor countries, the idea of
Ecotourism was developed. Though the idea of Ecotourism was one with good
intentions, the local people in the countries where Ecotourism has been in effect are
not gaining much at all.
History of Ecotourism:
The idea that led to Ecotourism emerged in the late sixties when people like Oswaldo
MuГ±oz, now president of the Ecuadorian Ecotourism Association, started guiding
tourists around their countries to view natural wonders. Many companies began to
set up lodging near parks and reserves and even began to develop tours of those
areas. The vision of showing off exotic plants, animals and the overall natural beauty
of countries like Ecuador also attracted them. Yet early on, this did little to help the
local economies. It actually contributed to other problems: In Ecuador, half of the
country s rain forest disappeared, and environmental groups and other organizations
promoting ecotourism flocked to places where endangered species, including many
indigenous populations, lived. But with the growing environmental awareness of
Why Do People Need To Challenge Authority
I understand racism, sexism, homophobia and many other discriminating
adjectives that describe the hate people have for others in this country, but I do not
think it starts with hate. I believe that respect for each other, no matter if you are
black or white, poor or rich, and 1 or 100, is the lacking trait that is found in people
today. Today, there is a social divide between groups of people that believe they
deserve respect from everyone below them socially, economically or academically,
and the people that fight and tear for every ounce of respect they can get in this
world due to their background. I am going to now give my personal example of
where I believe that people need to challenge authority because authority is not

My father has been in my life giving anything I needed to succeed both physically
and mentally and for that, I have so much respect because he has shown love and
caring for me. He did not just believe that I should respect him because he s my
father, but because I choose to respect him for the love he has shown me.
Essentially my point is that authority, no matter how powerful or perfect they
might seem, should earn respect from the people they wish to use their power on
or they are just believing they are above everyone else. I admire the companies and
organizations that believe that their employees are the root of their company
because without those people, any company would be nothing. I do not want
someone to take me the wrong way in regards that I believe basic respect if
required for everyone you meet because you truly need to know someone s
intentions before you disrespect them. I am not just some teenager explaining why
you should rebel against authority but you should realize that the day you are in the
big chair and people are looking up to you, you have the choice between giving them
respect and in turn have inspiring people that want to help you out because of the
respect you have given

Defendant Miller evidently avoided walking by the officers. There are precise rules
that involve the stopping of an individual by the authority. The Fourth Amendment
states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and
effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated... . Specific
distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of Terry v. Ohio(392
U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to stops
of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of
the court in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him
briefly for questioning upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with
criminal activity . This statement basically explains that unusual conduct of an
individual observed by the authorities can give reasonable suspicion that criminal
activity may be afoot. This reasonable suspicion is grounds for a stop and brief
questioning by the authorities. So, accordingly following these sets of rules, I must
analyze how the law applies to reach a decision in favor, or in opposition to the stop
of an individual. Defendant Miller clearly showed unusual conduct while walking in
the street. He walked in one direction, looked toward the direction of the cops, and
more profoundly made eye contact with one

They are subject to a higher chance of contracting certain diseases, being the
victims of economic, educational and emotional disparities more than any other
American population as well. Black women are also stereotyped for being loud
mouthed, hypersexualized, cantankerous, having many children, hopelessly single
and being stubborn and overly independent in today s society. Significance: Black
women are easily considered one of the most severely marginalized groups in the
United States because not only did they have to combat being enslaved which
encoded a heavy deal of oppression on its own they also had to fight the term
Jezebel which was a way of creating a huge gap between white women and black
women. This placed Black enslaved women at the absolute bottom of food chain. A
woman which then, naturally defaulted to one of European descent was considered
to lie somewhere on the spectrum having more authority than a child but not nearly
as much as a man. The black woman was so far removed that she was essentially
considered nothing more than an animal. The Jezebel was the mule of the earth. A
saying that become popularized in the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora

Marijuana Should Be Legal For Medical Use Essay
In this brief paper I will first define what historically is known about the medicinal
benefits of cannabis. Then I will describe recreational use of marijuana and the
acute effects it has. I will then examine the laws of my home state of Illinois on the
legalization of medicinal marijuana and the amounts allowed to be dispensed to a
patient. Lastly I will provide my position on marijuana and support my stand with
a solution from a scholarly source. Medicinal The debate over the legalization of
marijuana is a hot topic. The first question is whether marijuana should be legal for
medical use. Cannabis has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes.
Widely used in the early 1900 s according to the text, for treating neuralgia, gout,
rabies, cholera, convulsions, hysteria, depression, tremors and insanity, (Maisto,
Galizio, Connors, p274). Today it is a valued aid used by patients receiving
chemotherapy and radiation because cannabis alleviates the nausea and vomiting
associated with treatment. Now widely used in the treatment of glaucoma, which is
a disease to the eye that causes the fluid pressure to build up which then damages
the optic nerve. Cannabis has shown to decrease the intraocular pressure, ( Maisto,

Bush, as well as our society, feels the president should be strong especially in
international politics and policies. When the United States was attacked September
11, 2001, the people looked to the president to lead, and in essence, seek revenge. On
both of these levels of domestic considerations, we will never know to exactly what
extent they influence the president s choice of action, but they help us in
understanding some of the foreign policy decisions. Going beyond the individual to
the expectations of the position, the role consideration plays an influential domestic
part in the response to an external event and ultimately foreign policymaking.
Furthermore to do this, Bush s administration has outlined some specific objectives.
Allies are crucial to conduct foreign operations, so the Bush has joined several
international organizations that allow it to serve at the forefront of international
policy. Some of the more famous ones are the United Nations, which is the biggest
organization and has many sub level organizations, the World Trade Organization, the
World Health Organization, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank
Group (Directory of Economic, Commodity and Developmental Organizations).
Knowing that United States is involved in these international organizations President

Innocence In Treasure Island
There is no single definition of children s literature. It can be defined broadly as
anything that children read or more specifically as fiction, non fiction, poetry,
novel, or drama. The focus of this essay will be the boyhood of Laurie in Little

Canine s Role In Urban Search And Rescue
National USAR Response System Canine Search Teams play a critical role during
structural collapse incidents, and many more disasters. The canines locate
survivors, using their incredible sense of smell to detect live human scent, even
from a survivor buried deep in rubble. FEMA USAR canine handlers are
comprised of civilians, firefighters, and police department members (Canine s Role
in Urban Search Rescue, 2015). The most common breeds of dogs that are used
for search and rescues teams are Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherd, Belgian

Blood Shortage And Fda Policy Limitations Essay
Blood Shortage and FDA Policy Limitations Our nation has a major blood shortage
which results in a national health crisis. States all over the nation are reporting the
need for blood donors and the importance of having donors to help those who are
directly affected. There has been a recent rise in shortage due to the increased
demand of high complex surgeries which require a large supply of blood.
McMillan reports, just one liver transplant can take 120 units of donated blood
(Zabarenko, 2016). It is imperative to bring attention to this social problem, and
begin to search for possible solutions, as well as identifying gaps in the policy
before seeking policy revision. Experts indicate that the only solution is for this
problem is to persuade people to become donors (Nagourney, 2009). The American
Red Cross and Americans Blood Center currently encompass almost all of the
nation s blood supply. Blood supply decreases more during the summer because
schools and certain businesses close and are not open to hold a blood drive. The
American Red Cross predicts that a person in a single car accident can need up to
100 pints of blood (ARC, 2016). However, during a routine blood drive a person
can only donate 1 pint of their blood supply. The American Red Cross also reports
that they need 80,000 units in one day to run successfully, but are only receiving
36,000 a day (Healy, 2016). Recently, the American Red Cross issued an Urgent:

The Great Nefertiti Essay
Queen Nefertiti, the most powerful woman in Egypt since the Pharaoh Hatshepsut
100 years earlier. She was as influential as she was beautiful, being a partner in
power with her king and husband, Akhenaten. Together, the couple co reigned over
Egypt attempting to completely transform Egyptian religion. Though little is
known about Nefertiti s early life, it is believed that she was born around 1390
B.C.E. in the royal city of Thebes. Some say she is of Egyptian blood while others
believed her to be a foreign princess. The name Nefertiti means, the beautiful woman
has come, and is of Egyptian origin. Evidence suggests that Nefertiti had an Egyptian
wet nurse or governess of noble rank, which is strong support for the belief that she...

Due to the large amount of opposition he was receiving for closing the temples of the
other gods, Akhenaten established a new capital called, Akhenaten. (http:/
/www.kingtutshop.com/freeinfo/Nefertiti.htm)
The king s decision to move the capital from Thebes to this new site was due to the
fact that the sun rose from a dip in the surrounding mountaintops, which he
believed to be Aton coming up to watch over the city. Akhenaten commemorated
the founding of his new capital by erecting boundary stelae, markers placed around
the capital to show the limit of the city. These markers were also used to keep any
god other than Aton, out of the city. After a year of residing in the new capital,
Akhenaten prohibited the worship of Amun Ra completely and ordered that all
temples dedicated to the worship of Amun Ra be closed. The king also prohibited
all festivals and worship of Osiris, Isus, Mut and Ptah and any and all other major
and minor deities, as only one god was to be worshipped, that god being Aton. In
this sense, Akhenaten became a ruler with a newly created religion, monotheism.
The total defilement of Amun Ra from all statues, papyrus and temples meant that
his father s name had to be defiled too. To wipe out a person s name meant wiping
out a part of that person s being. Therefore, that person could not be introduced to the
God s and resurrected one of the ancient Egyptian s worst fears.
Rise Of American Theaters And Consumerist Desires
Rise of American Theaters And Consumerist Desires In the early twentieth century
movies signified modernity by becoming the most prevalent medium of culture in the
United States in a period of time where the social makeup was shifting from a
predominantly middle class to working class neighborhoods that were made up of
many different communities. As a direct consequence, nickelodeons, temporary
storefront theaters, and vaudeville programs all flourished in the working class
districts. By the late 1920s, almost every large American city showed off a new
picture palace, an elaborately constructed movie theater. Moreover, with this
transition from previous vaudeville houses and nickelodeons to the rise of these so
called picture palaces in the United States, new spaces of consumerismwere forged
that focused on enlightening the average spectator as movie moguls such as the
notable Samuel Roxy Rotahfel who envisioned a specific function for all major
theaters. Consequently, I would argue that these new spaces of consumerism
transformed and transfixed its audiences architecturally (looking at the physical
space of the theater) and psychologically (reading space as consumerist fantasy) in
Roxy s picture palaces such as the Family Theater and the Regent Theater and how
these theaters fit into the market of mass consumerism in creating desire as well as
a release from modern societal pressures. Additionally, I would like to explore how
Roxy and his team carefully created an

Canada is a country that is rich in natural resources and maintains an economy that is
service based. The natural resources allow Canada to support its own manufacturing
and maintain a strong export base. Although Canada does have a manufacturing
portion to its economy, the service industry is the largest area of Canada s economic
growth.
Product Canada seems to mimic the United States when it comes to skin care.
However, the French side of Canada has always valued having beautiful skin and
using skin care products to maintain their beauty. Like most of the world, Canadians
wait until they see lines or wrinkles before they start worrying about revising the
condition. Today people know that they live in their skin, the largest organ in the
human body that protects them from the elements and holds all other components
together. They also realize that they have to start protecting their skin earlier in life
from overexposure to the sun through the use of products that protect and moisturize
the skin to help maintain its health.
As consumers become more educated in the products they use and hold companies
that produce them more accountable they are demanding products that are more

Swot Analysis Of At T
In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. That was the foundation of
the company that would become AT T a brand that is now synonymous with
innovation in communications. In 1984, the former AT T agreed to divest its local
telephone operations but retain its long distance, R D and manufacturing arms. From
this, SBC CommunicationsInc. (first known as Southwestern Bell Corp.) was born.
Twelve years later, Telecommunications Act of 1996 drove major changes in the
competitive landscape. SBC expanded its U.S. presence through a series of
acquisitions, including Pacific Telesis Group (1997) and Ameritech Corp. (1999). In

Abortions Abortion
All around the world, many of woman choose to abort their babies instead of
keeping it. Sometimes young adult women around the ages of 18 get pregnant and
decide to also abort their unborn child. It s usually not because the woman
carrying the child doesn t love their baby or want them, most likely the mother of
the child is either not in the right state of mind or even financially stable to have a
baby. Many people, both females and male criticize the mother for doing such a
bad deed but in reality, a woman should feel the right to do what s best for her and
her baby. Studies have shown that about millions of females face unplanned
pregnancies. Many of the women who get pregnant tend to abort the unborn child.
Research has proved that about 4 out of 10 women get abortions because they feel
that it s the safest thing to do for them and their baby. Taking the strength and
courage to abort an unborn baby is a decision that only you can make with yourself
and your doctor. Many women take aborting a baby to a personal way and they
eventually get depressed because other negative people consider them as bad
mothers . First of all, one of the reasons why young adults have abortions is because
they re young and most women are scared that their parents might kick them out of
the house for becoming pregnant at a young age. A lot of judgmental people state If
you re too young to have a baby, then you re too young to have sex. That phrase isn t

mysterious new wonders or terrors awaited his company. At the time I was moving

The Characters Of Grendel s Monster In Beowulf
Grendel s monsters Grendel faces many monsters in Beowulf such as
psychological ,emotional and physical, these different monsters that Grendel faces
are similar the monsters ordinary people face in everyday life. The monster that
Grendel mainly faces is emotional monsters ,because he is kicked out of Society
and is emotionally corrupted by being taken away and removed from society and
then causes him to have hate for men. Being banned from the people in the society
caused him to go into many different emotions since he is an outcast to the people.
For example And the desolate fens; he had dwelt for a time/ in misery among the
banished monsters/ Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as
outcasts ( Heaney 104 7). This quote explains and also views Grendel s misery and
emotional corruption by explaining how he is an outcast to the people and how
Grendel feels as well. Also gives the author s point of view of Grendel s state of
mind ,and gives us the point of view of Grendel from the creator. His long and
unrelenting feud,/ nothing but war; how he would never/ parely or make peace
with any Dane/ nor stop death dealing nor pay the death price (153 6). A second
example which contains this quote is that it shows how Grendel is a true outcast
based on the lonely war that he has taken upon himself due to being removed from a

The company also tracks non traditional information such as quality assurance costs,

entities in Georgia, Michigan and California. Riordan also has a joint venture in
China. Each operating entity keeps independent financials including a general ledger,
accounts payable and receivable, order entry, procurement, sales and purchasing
history, invoicing and shipping, payroll, and financial reporting. The advantage of
having each unit run as its own business is that each unit knows its customers and its
relationship with its customers. They are able to establish personal contact with both
customers and vendors, report on payments and receivables from these customers,
and follow the accounting through to the general ledger. Payroll is handled locally
which increases the understanding of shifts, over time, and labor hour accounting.
Advantages of local order entry is the fact that the individual unit knows the product
or products that it produces and is able to help the customer with the knowledge of
the manufacturing process and how it affects the accounting process. Keeping the
invoicing and shipping localized is advantageous in that it keeps it cohesive and easy
to find errors. The financials will come together from individual manufacturing

Erosion of Shorelines Essays
Erosion of Shorelines
The erosion of shorelines is a natural process that can have beneficial or adverse
impacts on the creation and maintenance of habitats. Sands and gravels eroded from
the shores of coastal bays maintain the beach as a natural barrier between the open
water and coastal wetlands. Beaches move back and forth onshore, offshore and
along shore with changing wave conditions. The finer grained silts and clays
derived from the erosion of shorelines are sorted and carried as far as the waters of
wetlands or tidal flats, where benefits are derived from addition of the new material.
However, excessively high sediment loads can smother submerged aquatic vegetation

The longshore drift shapes the coastline by carrying sand from sites of high wave
activity to those of low wave activity. The volume of sand carried away from or
delivered to different points along the coast can be as much as 2,000 cubic meters
per day (71,000 cubic feet), enough sand to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool
(Nepf).
The seepage of ground water and the overland flow of surface water runoff also
contribute to the erosion of shorelines (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS/MMGI
/Chapter6/ch6 4.html). The role of ground water is most important wherever
permeable subsurface layers of sand are exposed in high bluffs along coastal bays. In
these areas, the seepage of ground water into the waterway can cause erosion at the
point of exit. The surface flow of upland runoff can also dislodge sediments through
the creation of rills and gullies on the shoreline banks and bluffs (http://www.epa.gov
/OWOW/NPS/MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html).
Some amount of natural erosion is necessary to provide the sediment for beaches in
estuaries and coastal bays. However, excessive erosion has occurred in the past due
to development. Industrial and private development along the world s coastlines has
increased dramatically since the 1970s (Nepf). Developers and builders completed
much of this construction without taking into account the effects of coastal erosion.
New buildings were often placed too close to the existing shoreline so that
How Chinese Policies Helped Strengthen Or Weaken
Uyghur...
Introduction Out of the fifty five recognized ethnic minorities within China, Uyghur
is the 5th largest population out of the 8.3 million. Uyghur independence movements
started in 1933, their primary aim was to create a sovereign state called East
Turkestan within the region currently known as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous
Region of China (XUAR). This thesis seeks to answer the question of how the
Chinese government s policies towards the Uyghur s, a Turkish Muslim group living
predominately in the North Western Chinese province Xinjiang, have influenced the
political strengthening of the Uyghur s. The aspect of this question will be explored:
Have the Chinese policies helped to strengthen or weaken Uyghur identity?
Additionally, the hypothesis for the research question is that the Chinese policies
have not favored nor shaped the Uyghur s interest.
Chinese Government s Policies The Chinese government s policies toward the
Uyghur s in Xinjiang is broken down into two broad categories. The first category
consists of policies that are focused on the assimilation and social and economic
development of Uyghur s. These policies include regulations on minorities
languages, and affirmative action policies in education. The second category is
made up of what is called hard policies. This hard approach includes restrictions on
civil liberties such as freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, freedom of speech,
and freedom of the press. Beginning in the early 200s, the Chinese
The Characteristics Of Materialism In The American Dream
Society is buying objects we do not need, with the money we do not have, to
impress people that do not matter. The American Dream is developing into a more
materialistic world, a dream in which the dream keeps getting larger and greedier.
Materialism is the tendency to think material objects are more important than
people; a desire for money over ethics. Today, life shows us that people have a
desire for newest, thinnest, updated most expensive smartphone or the more
expensive lavish materials. Life shows us that our car is undesirable now,
especially when our cars do not hook up with that latest cell phone. Life shows us
unrealistic standards of a way to live, yet a huge portion of the people in society
appear to be emptying out their wallets. This materialistic culture is a show, a
phony act when in society we pretend we are what we are not. We all live in a
materialistic society where the majority of people are more worried about what
we have than who we are. There is an emphasis on what brand a person is wearing,
what car someone is driving, and just how many objects one has, in general. A
person must wonder where this hunger and greed comes from and why most
Americans fall susceptible to this phenomenon, including me. Materialism is an
identity crisis. A person should know what they need, and what they can afford, but
seem to have a different driving force which dictates their life. So how come when
my cell phone is not in my pocket like I thought, I go into a sense of

Affordable Care Act is up in the air because the new president may or may not

that retired personnel receive 29% of healthbenefits from former employers.

What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice
Has there been any minds in this world that thought of breaking a permanent logic?
If there is, it would simply turn into a ridiculous joke from someone s eyes, but
from a certain person s sight is a delicacy, deeply craving for an answer. Rice
farming has been a traditional part of living since the old days. It has become an
essential part of humanity s survival, progress, and growth. From plains to mountains
to the hills to desolate lands, it has been grown in different places like in Japan.
Many believe that riceis a seasonal plant that can only grow in one season and
growing it in any other season will only diminish its growth and led to failure.
However with the current changes of living, it eventually made people think
farther and in a different way that it became unreasonable. It is possible to grow
rice in any season because it depends on the land condition, other country can grow
it, and having proper material, resources, layout, and planning. The condition of
the land is an important factor for growing rice. According to Brian Barth from
What Conditions Do You Need To Grow Rice , he stated the growing rice should
be kept weed free, has moisturize soil and is well fertilized with a source of
nitrogen . Brian Barth gave away the essential requirements of a good plot of land
where rice can grow without relying to the season. The weeds remove for spaces, the
wet soil that provides nutrients and both the fertilizerand nitrogen for further
nourishment of the rice
Research Paper On Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Queen Elizabeth II might be one of the most influential monarchs living today in this
era of the democratic states. With her rule over the Commonwealth Nations lasting
for over fifty years, the Queen has been very much popular with the public, not just in
Great Britain or amongst the Commonwealth Nations, but also amongst all the
nations of the world.
The Queen s life might have only begun as the first child to the Duke and Duchess of
York, but instantly she came into attention of the nation with her strong bond with the
then head of state, King George V, who was also Elizabeth s grandfather. The
qualities of Elizabeth had been exemplary from the very start. Although a little
mischievous as a child, Elizabeth was quite mannered, polite and respectful.
After her father, King George VI, was crowned, Elizabeth became the natural
successor to the throne. With this face, a sense of responsibility arose within her,
making her more active towards the matters of national interest. She had already
become famous amongst the public with her very first broadcast to console,
strengthen and assure the war stricken children of the nation. Her efforts to assist the
country in the tome of war showed her courage, bravery and love for the nation and
its people.
After her marriage with Duke of Edinburgh and then replacing her deceased father as
the head of the state, Elizabeth had shown immense maturity as she kept working
tirelessly to uphold the
My Bacon Cooking Device Was Almost Complete Essay
My bacon cooking device was almost complete. I was missing one key component.
I pondered the design of my Rube Goldberg device as I sat and mollycoddled my
little pet mouse; he was also an important part of this contraption. Why a bacon
cooking gadget? Of course, there were so many more important things I could be
inventing, like curing the various diseases that plagued the world. Simple logic,
bacon runs the world. Everything is better with bacon, except for my bacon. My
bacon was always so burnt, it could be used to write novels or draw great pieces of
art with, nothing more than the proverbial piece of charcoal that even a dog
wouldn t eat. The missing part struck me, literally. My egg timer fell off the shelf
that hung on the wall over my favorite chair as if something had pushed it. It hit me
on the top of my head and fell into my lap. My egg timer was simple; it was the
kind you had to manually flip over to get the sand flowing. I recalled the egg timer
my mother had. It was on a spinning cog, and it turned itself. I could use steam to
turn the timer quicker. Perfect bacon would be mine soon enough! I put the little
mouse back into his cage and hurried over to my mother s to borrow her egg timer. It
was cold and I realized I had been in too big of a hurry to grab my coat on the way
out of the door. My breath was white as it left my body. I was thankful I had
remembered to put my boots on in my haste to get the egg timer from my mother. I

POLAR REPRESENTATION Polar Representation An Initial Study of the Problems
at the Portland Plant The purpose of this work is to explore the performance
objectives of the Portland Plant. They have been losing money for years and they are
unable to identify the reason. Without internal changes they will be unable to acquire
new production contracts and they may be forced to close the business. Portland is
unaware that their company values are leading them to extinction. Analysis The five
performance objectives (in no specific order) are quality, speed, dependability,
flexibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Portland Plant will continue to produce non compliant product until a time when
a deficiency in the finished product is discovered. We can therefore assume that
quality is not monitored during the production phase. According to Slack et al.
(2013) ... [when] quality levels or times are significantly different from those
planned, then some kind of intervention is almost certainly likely to be required (p.
511). An emphasis on flexibility over speed that values quality control and empowers
employees to stop production when anomolies are discovered will ultimately
improve Portland s production times. Conclusion The Portland Plant needs to re
order their objectives (from most to least important) as follows: (1) Quality, (2)
Flexibility, (3) Dependability, (4) Cost, (5) Speed. (See Polar Representation of
Performance Objectives in Appendix A.) This change will emphasize a superior
finished product and the ability of the plant to adapt to market changes.
Improvements in quality will influence their consumers decision to return, reduce
costs due to mistakes at each process of production, and improve the dependability
of operations (Slack et al., 2013, pp. 46 47). Flexibility will assure that Portland is
able to adapt to market changes and assure their ability to customize operations to
match products that their buyers are developing. According to Slack et al. (2013),
flexibility within an operation increases speed, saves time, and maintains
dependability of
The Portrayal Of Heterosexual Love
Chapter 2: Literature Review
This literature review will explore research on the portrayal of heterosexual love in
film and the effects that it has on millennial women and through the cycle of
repression, its effect on minorities. The analytical framework consists of feminist
theory as described by John Storey and Stuart Hall s representation theory. Then,
feminism in romantic fiction will be again be explored academically by Storey,
exploring the power that romantic fiction in pop culture has on society and it role it
plays in sex.
Next, the phenomenon that is known as, love at first sight will be dissected looking
at why this type of storyline is so popular.
Following, submission in relationships as portrayed in film will ... Show more content

Focusing on how women will never be free in a patriarchal system, because men are
constantly oppressing women pushing them away from total freedom. Ensuring that
the integrity of the patriarchal system will remain intact regardless of the setting, in
the family home or in government office.
In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The
domination of women by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over
labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave of feminism is in essence blaming the
system for the repression of women, by allowing men to dominate the workforce.
Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the
appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker.
The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are
better than women for no good reason.
By combining these three different waves of feminism, the struggles and oppression
that women face in their everyday lives is easily demonstrated and applicable to
romantic fiction in entertainment media.
Feminism in Romantic Fiction Popular culture mass produces romantic fiction that
are pure fantasies for women including harlequin romances, gothic novels and soap
operas. Storey combined with Modleski, argue that these popular narratives speak to
real tensions and problems in women s lives, making them relatable. Comparing to
Short Story Of Greenvale Girls Boarding School
Come on Ava! yelled an excited Sophia from downstairs. I dragged my suitcase out
of my room. It was half way through the year and our mother had decided to ship us
off to a boarding school for girls. Ava!!!! Sophia was an incredibly adventurous
person. I on the other hand would like a nice relaxing day reading a book and
leaving the adventures to the characters in my stories. As I reached the bottom of the
staircase the doorbell rangand broke my train of thought. I ve got it!! Sophia said as
she raced to the door. I followed after her.
She opened the door and stood staring. Looking down at us was a tall slim figure of
a woman. She had such a pinched up face and I wondered how uncomfortable it
must be. Sophia, Ava? She said sharply. We both nodded our heads in unison. I m
Mrs Cox the Principal of Greenvale Girls Boarding school. I ve come to pick you up I
looked at Sophia. She shrugged and went to tell mother who was probably in the
kitchen. I was left with this woman staring at me.
We stood awkwardly in silence, well she didn t seem to find it awkward. Finally
Sophia and mother came around the corner and rescued me from Mrs Cox poison
glare. As I hopped into Mrs Cox car I waved bye to mother and turned to Sophia.
Sophia I said. She turned to look at me. What do you think it will be like? I said.
Be quiet! Mrs Cox yelled from the front passenger s seat. Sophia shrugged and put
her feet up of the seat in front. Typical of Sophia I thought. Mrs Cox turned
Culture Diversity By Ronald Takaki Analysis
Ronald Takaki writes a very powerful introductory paragraph to show that people
need more education on culture diversity. Takaki describes his experience when he
was racially profiled by his taxi driver on his way to a hotel. He introduces his
setting as Virginia which according to the census bureau has a 70.2% white
population to show he is in a predominately white area. He also describes his driver
as a white man in his forties (539) to portray him as the average american .
Meanwhile Takaki gives no clue to the reader about his ethnicity or background so
we can interpret how his driver was stereotyping Takaki in the following
conversation: How long have you been in this country? he asked. All my life, I
replied, wincing. I was born

  • 1. My Favourite Hobby Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "My Favorite Hobby" may initially seem like a straightforward task, given the personal nature of the subject. However, delving into the intricacies of one's preferences and articulating them effectively can prove to be a more challenging endeavor than anticipated. To begin with, the challenge lies in finding a balance between personal expression and relatability. While the essay should reflect your unique experiences and emotions regarding your favorite hobby, it is essential to convey these thoughts in a way that resonates with a broader audience. This requires honing your writing skills to transform subjective sentiments into universally comprehensible and engaging prose. Furthermore, structuring the essay poses another hurdle. Organizing thoughts coherently and maintaining a logical flow is crucial to ensure that readers can follow your narrative without confusion. Striking the right balance between introducing your hobby, narrating your experiences, and reflecting on its significance can be a nuanced task that demands careful consideration. Additionally, there is the challenge of avoiding clichГ©s and generic descriptions. As a writer, it's vital to steer clear of overused phrases and generic statements that could make your essay appear uninspired or unoriginal. Instead, the goal is to present your favorite hobby in a fresh and captivating light, allowing readers to connect with your passion on a deeper level. Ultimately, the difficulty in writing an essay on this topic lies in the fine line between self- expression and audience engagement. It demands a thoughtful exploration of your hobby, a mastery of effective communication, and a creative approach to make your essay stand out amidst a sea of similar narratives. On a related note, if you find yourself struggling with such assignments or need assistance with various types of essays, consider exploring the services provided by HelpWriting.net. • 2. Personality According To Biological And Social... My Little Brother s Personality According to Biological and Social Cognitive Theories When I was a little girl, my parents were foster parents because they wanted to adopt another child. Throughout my childhood, there were many children who would come stay with us for a few days, sometimes a few weeks or sometimes a few months. When I was 9 years old, my older sister, Miranda, and I came home from school and noticed a little tricycle in our front yard. We ran inside to meet this cute 17 months old little boy named Jordan. Jordan s biological mother was a substance abuser and she continued to abuse while she was pregnant with him. We suspect that this resulted in some of the learning and behavioral problems that he deals with daily. Jordan is now 15 years old. As he has gotten older, we have noticed how his personality differs from the rest of our family s. I will be defining his personality by applying Eysenck s Biological Theory, Temperament, and Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory. Eysenck s Biological Theory Jordan has always been unapologetically annoying. He scores high on the extraversion end of the first dimension. He is very social and rarely meets a stranger. He is popular amongst his peers at school, which could mostly be because they have all been going to school together since Kindergarten. He is in show choir, and he also runs for the Cross Country team. Jordan spends most of his time hanging out with friends, talking with friends, playing
  • 3. Federal Bureaucracy Federal Bureaucracy to what Extent does the President have Control of it? When the framers of the Constitution developed our government, they gave Congress the authority to create the departments necessary to carry out the day to day responsibilities of governing the federal bureaucracy. The vast majority of the departments, agencies, and commissions that make up the federal bureaucracy today were created by Congress through legislative acts. Congress is unable to act in a bubble though, due to the nature of the system s built in checks and balances, Congress must first get the president s buy off which is represented by his signature. Although Congress has the authority to create these agencies (with the president s agreement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, only about three percent of all federal employees are appointed by the president. Consequently, since the majority of bureaucrats are hired using the merit based system they are not as compelled to be loyal to the president s will. Under the merit based system, employees cannot be fired simply because they have different political beliefs or don t adhere to the president s policy preferences. Thus, although the president has a lot of power, when it comes to the bureaucracy, it can be likened to having just a few cattle herders for thousands of cattle. Not all of the cattle are going to want to go in the same direction and will consequently have a tendency to split or wander off in their own direction despite the desire and drive of the herders. To sum things up when it comes to the bureaucracy, some of the controls that the president has the authority to use are: appoint and remove agency heads, reorganize the bureaucracy, make changes in budget proposals, reduce an agency s budget, ignore initiatives from the bureaucracy, and issue executive orders. Nonetheless, even with all of the powers and controls that the president possesses, taking into account the sheer magnitude and breadth of the bureaucracy, having complete control over it is not even feasible. In addition, even though the president is delegated the responsibility of managing the bureaucracy, when throwing the influences of Congress,
  • 4. The effects of lead on children s brains Essay Once used for varying applications, lead is now known for its toxicity in the human body. Dr. Gary Goldstein, the chief executive of Kennedy Krieger Institute wrote, Exposure to excessive amounts of inorganic lead during toddler years may produce lasting adverse effects upon brain function (Goldstein 1990). Leadpoisoning awareness has become increasingly prevalent in the American government, with lead poisoning testing recommended as early as nine to twelve months of age (Health and Human Services 2011). This paper will explain briefly lead s history and industrial uses, as well as give an in depth analysis on lead s exposure to children and how it affects their developing brains. The major uses of lead in the United States are in storage batteries (72%), gasoline additives and other chemicals (13%), ammunition (shots and bullets, 4%), solder (2%), and other uses (9%) (Harte 1991). Early industry favored lead over other metals because it was easier to forge: it melts at a low temperature and is malleable, yet at the same time is strong and does not rust (Ginsberg and Toal 2006). In 1985, The EPA discussed having a total ban on leaded gasoline due to the large amounts of lead emitted into the atmosphere. Therefore, in amendments to the Clean Air Act, lead was banned in 1995 as a gasoline additive. Lead was an additive is gasoline for a few reasons. First, lead improved the way gasoline was burned within the engine; it reduced sounds caused by ignition in high performance engines and in smaller, high compression engines. Lead also provided lubrication in the engines by preventing the close fit parts of the engine from chafing against one another (Englebert 1998).The people mostly affected were the ones living near heavier vehicular traffic. Upon inhalation of the lead emitted particles, absorption takes place easily from the respiratory tract and symptoms tend to develop more quickly (Sax 1987).The lead particles emitted through the burning of gasoline settled on the ground and accumulated. In which was then readily absorbed into plants, making its way into food produce (Harte et al.

Imagine the pain and suffering he would go through. Imagine then going on trial for his death, facing his family and friends and the hateful stares as you walk in the courtroom. The Fourth Amendment states that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated... . Specific distinctions within the Amendment are made in the prior case of Terry v. Ohio(392 U.S. 1 [1968]). These distinctions discuss the rules and regulations adherent to stops of individuals by the authority. According to Justice Warren, delivering the opinion of the court in this case, the police should be allowed to stop a person and detaining him briefly for questioning upon suspicion that the individual may be connected with criminal activity . This statement basically explains that unusual conduct of an individual observed by the authorities can give reasonable suspicion that criminal activity may be afoot. Significance: Black women are easily considered one of the most severely marginalized groups in the United States because not only did they have to combat being enslaved which encoded a heavy deal of oppression on its own they also had to fight the term Jezebel which was a way of creating a huge gap between white women and black women. This placed Black enslaved women at the absolute bottom of food chain. Akhenaten commemorated the founding of his new capital by erecting boundary stelae, markers placed around the capital to show the limit of the city. These markers were also used to keep any god other than Aton, out of the city. After a year of residing in the new capital, Akhenaten prohibited the worship of Amun Ra completely and ordered that all temples dedicated to the worship of Amun Ra be closed. The king also prohibited all festivals and worship of Osiris, Isus, Mut and Ptah and any and all other major and minor deities, as only one god was to be worshipped, that god being Aton. In this sense, Akhenaten became a ruler with a newly created religion, monotheism. The total defilement of Amun Ra from all statues, papyrus and temples meant that his father s name had to be defiled too. To wipe out a person s name meant wiping out a part of that person s being. As a direct consequence, nickelodeons, temporary storefront theaters, and vaudeville programs all flourished in the working class districts. By the late 1920s, almost every large American city showed off a new picture palace, an elaborately constructed movie theater. Sometimes young adult women around the ages of 18 get pregnant and decide to also abort their unborn child. It s usually not because the woman carrying the child doesn t love their baby or want them, most likely the mother of the child is either not in the right state of mind or even financially stable to have a baby. Many people, both females and male criticize the mother for doing such a bad deed but in reality, a woman should feel the right to do what s best for her and her baby. Studies have shown that about millions of females face unplanned pregnancies. Many of the women who get pregnant tend to abort the unborn child. Research has proved that about 4 out of 10 women get abortions because they feel that it s the safest thing to do for them and their baby. Taking the strength and courage to abort an unborn baby is a decision that only you can make with yourself and your doctor. Many women take aborting a baby to a personal way and they eventually get depressed because other negative people consider them as bad mothers . First of all, one of the reasons why young adults have abortions is because they re young and most women are scared that their parents might kick them out of the house for becoming pregnant at a young age. A lot of judgmental people state If you re too young to have a baby, then you re too young to have sex. That phrase isn t correct and shouldn t be used upon

Is knowledge reading, or is reading knowledge? Can reading influence your life choices? Well here I am, thinking back on my childhood clouded by parental disputes and my adventure as a reader and how it has influenced my life today. My all time favorite book series has remained The Lord of the Rings since my father read it to me on one of the few nights he had off work. That series really spoke to me as a child who spent his whole life moving places and experiencing new things. I felt like Bilbo taking his first step outside of Hobbiton, not knowing anything of what mysterious new wonders or terrors awaited his company. At the time I was moving to Colorado from the middle of nowhere in New York. When Bilbo was on his journey to the Lonely Mountain it really spoke to me personally since I was starting my journey to a state full of some of the most rigid, marvelous mountains you ll ever see. The monster that Grendel mainly faces is emotional monsters ,because he is kicked out of Society and is emotionally corrupted by being taken away and removed from society and then causes him to have hate for men. Being banned from the people in the society caused him to go into many different emotions since he is an outcast to the people. For example And the desolate fens; he had dwelt for a time/ in misery among the banished monsters/ Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts ( Heaney 104 7). • 37. Erosion of Shorelines Essays Erosion of Shorelines The erosion of shorelines is a natural process that can have beneficial or adverse impacts on the creation and maintenance of habitats. Sands and gravels eroded from the shores of coastal bays maintain the beach as a natural barrier between the open water and coastal wetlands. Beaches move back and forth onshore, offshore and along shore with changing wave conditions. The finer grained silts and clays derived from the erosion of shorelines are sorted and carried as far as the waters of wetlands or tidal flats, where benefits are derived from addition of the new material. However, excessively high sediment loads can smother submerged aquatic vegetation beds, cover shellfish beds and tidal flats, fill in riffle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The longshore drift shapes the coastline by carrying sand from sites of high wave activity to those of low wave activity. The volume of sand carried away from or delivered to different points along the coast can be as much as 2,000 cubic meters per day (71,000 cubic feet), enough sand to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool (Nepf). The seepage of ground water and the overland flow of surface water runoff also contribute to the erosion of shorelines (http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/NPS/MMGI /Chapter6/ch6 4.html). The role of ground water is most important wherever permeable subsurface layers of sand are exposed in high bluffs along coastal bays. In these areas, the seepage of ground water into the waterway can cause erosion at the point of exit. The surface flow of upland runoff can also dislodge sediments through the creation of rills and gullies on the shoreline banks and bluffs (http://www.epa.gov /OWOW/NPS/MMGI/Chapter6/ch6 4.html). Some amount of natural erosion is necessary to provide the sediment for beaches in estuaries and coastal bays. However, excessive erosion has occurred in the past due to development. Industrial and private development along the world s coastlines has increased dramatically since the 1970s (Nepf). Developers and builders completed much of this construction without taking into account the effects of coastal erosion. New buildings were often placed too close to the existing shoreline so that

Introduction Out of the fifty five recognized ethnic minorities within China, Uyghur is the 5th largest population out of the 8.3 million. Uyghur independence movements started in 1933, their primary aim was to create a sovereign state called East Turkestan within the region currently known as Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China (XUAR). This thesis seeks to answer the question of how the Chinese government s policies towards the Uyghur s, a Turkish Muslim group living predominately in the North Western Chinese province Xinjiang, have influenced the political strengthening of the Uyghur s. The aspect of this question will be explored: Have the Chinese policies helped to strengthen or weaken Uyghur identity? Additionally, the hypothesis for the research question is that the Chinese policies have not favored nor shaped the Uyghur s interest. Chinese Government s Policies The Chinese government s policies toward the Uyghur s in Xinjiang is broken down into two broad categories. The first category consists of policies that are focused on the assimilation and social and economic development of Uyghur s. These policies include regulations on minorities languages, and affirmative action policies in education. The second category is made up of what is called hard policies. The American Dream is developing into a more materialistic world, a dream in which the dream keeps getting larger and greedier. Materialism is the tendency to think material objects are more important than people; a desire for money over ethics. Today, life shows us that people have a desire for newest, thinnest, updated most expensive smartphone or the more expensive lavish materials. Life shows us that our car is undesirable now, especially when our cars do not hook up with that latest cell phone. Life shows us unrealistic standards of a way to live, yet a huge portion of the people in society appear to be emptying out their wallets. This materialistic culture is a show, a phony act when in society we pretend we are what we are not. We all live in a materialistic society where the majority of people are more worried about what we have than who we are. There is an emphasis on what brand a person is wearing, what car someone is driving, and just how many objects one has, in general. A person must wonder where this hunger and greed comes from and why most Americans fall susceptible to this phenomenon, including me. Materialism is an identity crisis. A person should know what they need, and what they can afford, but seem to have a different driving force which dictates their life. In Marxist feminist analysis the ultimate source of oppression is capitalism. The domination of women by men is seen as a consequence of capital s domination over labour, (Storey, 1998, p.135). This wave of feminism is in essence blaming the system for the repression of women, by allowing men to dominate the workforce. Men dominating the workforce and being the bread winners gave them the appearance of being the stronger gender and in turn making women appear weaker. The liberal feminist is the male prejudice against women, this is the idea that men are better than women for no good reason.
