Essays On Pride
Writing an essay on the topic "Essays On Pride" can be a challenging task that requires careful
consideration and thoughtful analysis. The complexity arises from the multifaceted nature of
pride itself and the various perspectives from which it can be approached. Pride can be viewed
as a positive attribute, representing self-respect, confidence, and a sense of accomplishment. On
the other hand, it can also be seen as a negative force, leading to arrogance, hubris, and a lack of
humility.
Crafting an essay on pride involves navigating through these contrasting aspects while providing
a balanced and nuanced exploration of the topic. The writer must delve into the psychological,
cultural, and societal dimensions of pride, examining its impact on individuals and communities.
Additionally, exploring the role of pride in literature, history, and philosophy adds another layer
of complexity to the essay.
Moreover, defining the scope and focus of the essay becomes crucial. Will it primarily discuss
personal experiences with pride, analyze pride in a specific cultural or historical context, or
explore the philosophical implications of pride? Determining the essay's scope requires careful
consideration of the available research and the writer's own perspective on the topic.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in presenting a compelling thesis statement that captures the
essence of the essay while maintaining a logical flow of ideas. Addressing potential
counterarguments and incorporating relevant examples to support the thesis adds depth and
credibility to the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Essays On Pride" demands a thorough
understanding of the multifaceted nature of pride and the ability to navigate through its positive
and negative aspects. It requires a careful selection of relevant information, a well-defined scope,

Film Analysis Of The Film Edward Scissor Hands
Essay
The film Edward Scissor Hands by Tim Burton is seen as a modern day fairytale
with the story of a young man being pulled out of a solitary life into a large town that
has a very social community. When you look closely at the film you can see that it
has many deeper meanings and emotions that are displayed themes throughout the
film, some of these are: appearance vs reality, Conformity/sameness and Self
discovery.
Throughout this film we see the theme appearance vs reality which is shown many
times. For example, at the start of the movie we see the mansion which makes the
film look like a horror film but when you see it you are surprised since it has a big
colorful well kept garden and it makes it look a lot less intimidating. The most
noticeable example of this theme is Edward, when you first get a glimpse of
Edward we see him in a dark corner inside his mansion. He is spotted by peg who is
trying to sell make when she first sees him she doesn t feel threatened by him, then
she sees that he has a lot of features that make him look like a dangerous person
some of these are, sharp scissors/blades as hands, scars on his face, pale skin and
dark clothes with black untidy hair, when she sees these she tries to leave the
mansion but Edward tells her not to go.
Peg Boggs: Why are you hiding back there? You don t have to hide from me I m Peg
Boggs, your local Avon representative and I m as harmless as cherry pie...
[sees Edward come toward her]
Peg Boggs: Oh I can
1988 Education Reform
The 1988 education reform act
This essay will explore the 1988 Education reform act by looking at past, during and
after ramifications that the act brought . These will include the view that the 1988
Education Reform Act is influential in terms of controlling and progressing schools
further could be seen as decisive, one reason being it could be a means of achieving
control of the curriculum and the assessment, enabling them to progress and monitor
their spending control, as well as the rise in the standards of school in terms of the
competition and choice (Parliament, 1989). There are also views that education has
since, in similar ways, become more like a business, this comparison was made by
sociologist Stephen Ball (1990), this would be ... Show more content on

This is due to children from different social background have different access to
resources and have different experiences of education. This means that lower class
children are still more likely to have a lesser education than those pupils who are
more privileged (). Rather than improving life chances for all the pupils through
education the system, it still leaves a barrier which is not equal. This lack of
equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents
have about schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents that
have more of a cultural, social and economical capital have more choice on where
to send their child. Money can help if the best school is far away of if the child
needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a good
understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to
influence their child to choose a certain path. This therefore puts the middle class
and above in an improved position than the classic working class as they would
have the knowledge as well as the finances to put their child in a higher achieving
school with a higher reputation or place them in private schools, like; Harrow or
Eton, which would be the gateway to success as they would more and greater

The Fight Scene Analysis
The first section is a representation of when the meeting of Collin and Nancy
occurred in the diary. I choose to represent this by scattering around music notes on
all sides since it was sort of like a rock concert .The uneven colorful patches all
around them stands for the commotion and mix up after the rednecks came in .
This is one of the factors that cause her to have an asthma attack and he calms her
down and grabs her tightly . I drew her with her hand on him to show her being
calmed down. He makes her feel safe , this is why I drew them close .As her aunt
does not come to pick her up ,she sobs and he again comforts her closely . The bright
colorrepresents her enthusiasm for meeting such an interesting guy to talk to .
Almost like a brother . This scene is important because it is the start of her so
thought love which leads to her tragedy .It also shows how he portrays a fake image...

I Choose to represent this by drawing two hands wine wine in them. This shows
the alcohol involved in this part. I also drew fire flames . This is to emphases the
risky provocative situation in which she was in . She was all by herself and he
was getting more touchy with there .The main color in my flames is red , this is
to represent the color of passion which is what goes on as he grabs her . As my
main background , I used black, this is to show the time of day for this event , past
midnight . The word NO is in print capital letters this is to to show her disapproval
when he rapes her . She states reasons and says No. Still his response was the same
there was no answer he just did it and left. All these elements are needed because
this scene is so purposeful . Its purposeful because it shows how a simple house
alone date turned into a risky behavioral situation. This really demonstrates how her
voice was ignored and Collin decided to have sex with her despite her
A Clockwork Orange Dialectical Journal Essay
A Clockwork Orange
Journal 1: pages 3 56 I found the first section of the novel, A Clockwork Orange by
Anthony Burgess to be confusing, but at the same time interesting. Burgess ideas
were organized and thorough in each chapter. The use of foreshadowing was used
at the end of the first chapter implying violent acts throughout the rest of the
section. The constant use of slang called, Nadsat threw off my focus while reading
due to the distraction of flipping back and forth from the glossary back to the novel.
Burgess uses the slang to alienate what is occurring in the novel, especially the
brutality of it. I noticed that even though horrendous events are described I did not
stop reading because the use of slang kept me interested like ... Show more content on

This is implying the government in the novel is corrupt and that the crime rate in
teens is high. An event in particular is when Alex assaulted a drunken man on the
street late at night. The man said, It s a stinking world because it lets the young get
on to the old like you done, and there s no law nor order no more (Burgess 12). The
police presence is decreased at night which allows Alex and his droogs to go out and
commit any crime they please without a high chance of them getting
Why The Government Should Receive Welfare
Most people think welfare recipients are jobless individuals that receive benefits
from the government but in fact they are required to be employed to receive welfare.
Welfare recipients may depend on the government to help make ends meet because
they may not have all their necessities met on their own. For this reason the
governmentshould provide programs that promote self sufficiency among welfare
recipients.
The purpose of welfare is to give financial support to the families in need. Welfare
reform can refer to the law passed in 1996 The Personal Responsibility and Work
Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) which generally are the changes in the
U.S welfare system over time (104 congress 110 193). The Personal Responsibility

Ideally not everyone can commit to welfare to work programs, but this doesn t
mean they deserve to fend for themselves. It only makes sense for families who
work to receive enough money to support themselves. Michele Gilman divulged
how stagnant the wages for lower income families are she wrote, American
workers are among the most productive in the world, but over the last 40 years the
bottom half of income earners have seen no income growth. As a result since
1973, worker productivity has grown . . . almost six times faster than wages
(Gilman 2018). Without raising the minimum wage there will be the same
problems for posterity in the U.S. Michelle also expresses the problems in wages
and how they affect housing she asserts, There are 11 million renter households
paying more than half their income on housing. And there is no county . . . in
America where a minimum wage worker can afford a two bedroom home. Still,
only 1 in 4 . . . eligible households receive any form of government housing
assistance (Gilman 2018). Housing cost steadily increase yet the amount wages that
are being paid out to the lower working class stays constant, if this continues the
basic necessities are going to become too unaffordable and more people are going to
need government assistance. It is also made evident that many not all people living in
poverty gain welfare
Francis Bacon as Shakespeare
Francis Bacon as Shakespeare For almost four hundred years the question of who
truly wrote the works attributed to William Shakespeare has been studied
meticulously by many scholars and historians. There have been many well qualified
contenders, including Sir Francis Bacon. Because of the incredible number of
coincidences between Shakespeare and Bacon, it is obvious that Bacon wrote
Shakespeare. Firstly, the actor William Shakespeare, who is the supposed author of
Shakespeare s works, could not have written them. He had no formal education
after thirteen, was from a small provincial town, was a professional actor, had two
daughters who were illiterate, didn t mention any of his works in his will, and
whose only surviving handwriting is six signatures on legal documents
(Rubenstein 69). Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest authors in history,
and without a formal education the intricacy of his work would be impossible. It
should also be put in consideration that many of Shakespeare s works were not only
published but edited after his death. From the publication of The Taming of the
Shrew in 1594 to the publication of the First Folio in 1623, 4,936 new lines were
added to the plays, a majority of which were added posthumously (sirbacon). This
in itself is evidence enough to disprove Shakespeare entirely. Unlike William
Shakespeare, Sir Francis Bacon was very well qualified to have written Shakespeare s
works. Bacon was a highly educated Member of
Descriptive Essay About Simpson Park
Have you ever been somewhere that you loved? A place where it was time to
leave, but you didn t want to go? Where you fit right in and could be yourself?
Where friends became family in a week? Where the atmosphere is positive? Maybe
you haven t experienced this place, maybe you have. I have been to many places,
but the place I love best is Simpson Park. This place so innocent and sweet can
bring many people into one unity with Christ. Simpson Park Youth Camp isn t just
a camp, it is more than one thing. Simpson Park is a home, a tabernacle, a place
where being yourself and worshipping God isn t frowned upon. Where what you
wear doesn t matter, what you look like, or who your friends are. This beautiful
place can do many miraculous things. People become followers, relationships with
friends and Christ get renewed, where your faith is built up. New things can be
nerve wracking, but when I got to Simpson Park Youth Camp all the butterflies
flew away. Coming from church and receiving a blessing from the Northland United
Pastor, I was very nervous. Now that I was there I was excited and overjoyed. The
two hour drive to Romeo was already worth it. I gazed out the window and saw what
looked like a tiny village laid before my eyes. When I stepped out of the car I felt the
atmosphere change, it was like I stepped into a magical realm. Miranda and I walked
to the Office and are greeted by our other friends. Suddenly I see Hannah Haskell.

Goal blood pressures are separated by age and presence of chronic disease. The
goal for patients over 60 is SBP 150 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. The goal for
patients under 60 is 140 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. Different goal values are
presented for patients with chronic conditions. Treatment with medication is
categorized by: general population nonblack, general population black, chronic
conditions black, and chronic condition all races. Based on the algorithm black
patients should only be prescribed thiazide type diuretics and/or calcium channel
blockers. While non black patients can take all of the medications listed in JNC 8
(thiazide type diuretics, ACEI, ARB, and/or CCB). If patient does not reach goal
blood pressure then three strategies are listed, along with lifestyle adherence. The
algorithm also explains not to use ACEI and ARB together. The final option for
patients not at goal blood pressure includes additional medications and/or referral to

Social Class Influence on the Individual
Social Class Influence on the Individual
Poor as a church mouse vs. born with a silver spoon in your mouth are contrasting
themes in this book of hardships and life trials. In Great Expectations by Charles
Dickens, the main character Pip interacts with characters of various social groups.
These groups directly or indirectly, help Pip understand his own opportunities and
purpose in life. From these interactions, it becomes clear that social class influences
how people interact and view one another as well as their opportunities in life.
Some people do not have the same opportunity as others of getting education. This
contrast is shown in the life circumstances of two characters of different social
classes. Joe (uncle to Pip) had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only in Pip s day, but for centuries, people have treated one another according to
their wealth. Early in the history of the United States voting rights were limited by
gender, race, and wealth. Only white males with property had voting rights. It was
said that, ...The American class system has persisted since the nation s birth. The
notion of social equality was so restricted in the late eighteenth century that neither
the term nor even the concept of equality appeared in the Constitution or Bill of
Rights. (Martin Jr. and Sullivan). Social class discrimination was a big part of this
time period in Great Britain as well. Pip felt this discrimination before he had money
and after he lost his money.
Today, as in Pips time period, people are categorized into social classes using
various criteria. Wealth is just one of the characteristics that influence someone s
placement in a social class. Social class is defined as, ...a group of people who
share a common status or position in society. Social classes represent differences in
wealth, power, employment, family background, and other qualities. (Cohen). In the
past, wealth was most likely to be the biggest factor for placement in social class.
Today other criteria as well would impact social class placement. For Pip, his change
of income landed him in various social classes.
It is difficult but not impossible to move up in social class. Both Pip and his friend
Herbert moved up in social class with the help of
Nu Jazz And Jazz Dance
Classifying report
By Bianca Wyatt
Dance was introduced by king Louis, he came up with the idea of dance at a
wedding where one of the very first dances the broccoli dance was invented, and by
the the 1700s the most popular dance was ballet. Dance originated 2500 years from
today, from people that believed in a magic ritual which broke the spell which
apparently on a bewitched king. Many contemporary dances can go back to historical,
traditional, ceremonial, and even ethnic dances.
Jazz:
Jazz was created in the early 20th century in New Orleans, but the main roots of jazz
originate from the traditions of Africa and Europe. Some people even say that
African and European music is a union of jazz. Jazz is known to have rhythm and
feel. The costumes used in jazz for jazz dance performers prefer to wear a leotard
and tights, the dancers prefer tight clothes because they tend to help with
techniques. Most of the time if people aren t comfortable with wearing tight
clothes they just wear jazz pants which are very similar to sweatpants except that
they are a little bit tighter, and jazz pants come in a variety of different sizes so
they are very similar to sweatpants. The music styles in jazz can be the style of
electronic, soul and mostly free improvisation. All of the above are from the genre
Nu Jazz .

Journal Square History
New Jersey is full of places where historical events have occurred. One of these
places is Journal Square, which is located in Jersey City, NJ. Its history starts when
the Lenni Lenape Indians first settled there, however, the time period of when the
Lenape Indians first came is unknown. In the 1650s, General Peter Stuyvesant had
everyone under his rule. Two years later, Stuyvesant engineered the purchase of most
of present day Hudson County from the Indians in return for some materials. On
November 1660, the Dutch moved in and claimed Bergen Square (now known as
Journal Square) to be their place of settlement. A wall was built to help protect their
community from any dangers that may occur from the outside world. The Dutch
settlers strictly spoke Dutch. The community was preserved that way until the 1920s.

The Courthouse opened its doors on September 10, 1910. The building cost $3.3

Journal Square is rich in history. It has changed in many ways, but at the same
time, it has stayed similar to the way it was. Some sites were replaced over and

background history behind the area you live in because you never know what
historical events might have occurred in that area or what historical figure was in
what is now a school or something else. Journal Square s history goes from theatres
to banks to houses to schools to courthouses. It has a never ending

As we know global warming is a very important issue that we all have been aware
of. E E News says that the production of cement, a major material that is going to be
used in the construction of the wall, is a large source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Trump tweeted in 2012 that The concept of global warming was created by the
Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non competitive. There are many
things that are going to happen if global warming keeps raging on. The NSIDC
states that when the Arctic Ice melts there will be an increase of 20 feet in sea
level. Now we come to the fact of hurricanes. In 2009, there was 10 recorded
hurricanes that happened all across the world. In 2015, there was 38 recorded
hurricanes. The reason for the sudden increase is because global warming is making
the sea water warmer causing more hurricanes. The reason why people are most
afraid of global warming is because of the increase in the temperature. NASA states
that the temperature will rise 3В°C in the next century. According to the NOAA
(National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration) our current average temperature is
22.6В°C. As predicted if Donald Trump builds the wall, then the carbon emissions
will increase faster making the world warmer. Scientists say that if Trump builds
the wall it will increase faster and faster. They predict that in 7500 years the average
world temperature will rise to 100В°C. If it does reach this temperature then it will
be hot enough to boil the oceans and seas which will make them evaporate and make

There are many various effects of urban growth and suburbanisation in Blacktown
including the main issues affecting the land which consist of land degradation and
the other main issue of waste.
This report will consist of the effects of urban growth and suburbanisation in
Blacktown and the implications for future government planning to aid these issues.
The main issues to be discussed are the degradation of the land including the salinity,
soil erosion and land contamination and the other issue to be discussed involves waste
including littering and landfill.

Now, most development applications require a Waste Management Plan (WMP).
The WMP looks at the waste generated during the demolition and construction stages
of a new development and ongoing management of the development, with attention
on waste reduction.
Conclusion
Land degradation in terms of salinity, soil erosion and contaminated land are one
effect of urban growth and suburbanisation in Blacktown another effect has got to do
with waste, consisting of an increase in population and consumption, increasing
volumes of waste, littering, illegal dumping and landfill.
The implications for future government planning for land degradation include the
Soil erosion policy and notices and the contaminated land policy.
The implications for the waste issue include school and community education, the
Waste Management Development Control Plan and the Chemical Clean Out Service.
In the future I recommend a more sophisticated control over the Blacktown area to
avoid these environmental issues and more improved implementations, and more
ways that involve and educate the community on these issues would help
Pros And Disadvantages Of Asylum
I.Asylum is granted only in cases of political offences and not to common criminals.
II.Asylum is granted in accordance with the laws and usages of the state of refuge,
and it is for the latter to appreciate whether the offence committed by the refugee is a
political offence or a common crime.
III.The territorial state may request the departure of the refugee from its territory and
the state of refuge may then require the former state to deliver a safe conduct

IV.The state which granted asylum sometimes, with the same end in view, requests
that a safe conduct be issued to refugee.

Asylum on Humanitarian grounds: Asylum in a foreign embassy or legation is a
subject which affords a good illustration of the change and development of the
rules of international law. In modern times, it is asserted, the right to asylum, if it
were generally recognized, would tend to constitute an abuse. It would interfere
with good government. The practice of asylum is even looked on with a tolerant
eye and the personnel of a foreign legation are not very glad to use this right. To the
diplomatic agent concerned the practice is nothing but a burden. But the practice is
defended on humanitarian grounds. Motives of humanity exclude a rigid refusal to
receive a man who may be in peril of his life, but the general rule now is to limit the
reception of such political refugees to cases where the person received is in instant or
imminent personal
Scott Pilgrim s Nostalgia
Scott Pilgrim s Precious Nostalgia
In the Scott Pilgrim universe time is a central concept. Bryan Lee O Malley expertly
layers the familiar styles of classic videogames, music, and pop culture throughout the
series to create nostalgia. The author uses this nostalgia in order to emphasize the
importance of the past and show Scott s inability to grow. As Ryan Lizardi puts it in
his essay Scott Pilgrim vs. hegemony: nostalgia, remediation, and heteronormativity,
Scott must deal with his past... his inability to grow up compared with other
characters, and...conquer Ramona s romantic history before they can move on in
their relationship, (Lizardi, ). The intertwining themes of past and immaturity
reappear throughout the series through the previously state medium of nostalgia.
Throughout the Scott Pilgrim series classic rock motifs are woven into the text in
order to create a feeling of nostalgia. An example of this is pages 17 20 in the first

the fighting style mimics Streetfighter, through similar graphics and phrases such
as, K.O, (O Malley, #). The series also mirrors classic video games from the eighties

of this can be seen on page 128 of Scott Pilgrim vs. The Worldwhen Ramona s ex

Italian Music
With more than four and half million Italian immigrants arriving to American
between the years of 1876 1924, traditions, food, literature and an immense amount
of Italian culture was slowly spread nationwide. With that, Italian music was also
brought across seas. Music in New York City began developing rapidly during the
nineteenth century as the number of immigrants and residents steadily increased.
Italian music has become popular genre with many subdivisions. Italian music has
also become an influential genre of music on other types of popular music. The

Everything comes from somewhere, said Luger. He finds that his passion for jazz
music and Italian American music can be easily interconnected since all music
influences one another. One thing I found interesting about Luger s music is that
when I asked him to tell me more about the Italian music that he plays, he corrected
me, and stated that the music he plays should be referred to as Italian American
because Italian music has a broad range of styles. He said as much as he loves to
play instruments and sing, he is aware that he does not have an opera voice, which
would allow him to sing authentic Italian music. Classical Italian music is
considered to be Opera. Opera was born in Italy in 1600 during the Italian

Italian music, I think of one of the most famous Italian opera composers, Giuseppe
Verdi (1813 1901). Verdi s works are most noted for their emotional intensity, tuneful
melodies, and dramatic characterizations. Verdi transformed the Italian opera into a
unified musical and dramatic entity. Verdi composed over twenty eight operas.

popular show performed in New York Cityin the late 1800s. Verdi s works, along

What Is The Main Cause Of Sun Exposure To The Sun
Since the beginning to time the sun has been the main source of life for earth. One of
the most important nutrients that the sun provides for humans, as well as other
organisms is vitamin D. Unfortunately, vitamin D deficiency has recently been
labeled a widespread, infectious disease. The main cause of vitaminD deficiency is
the belief that any exposure to the sun will be harmful so many avoid being in the
sun. Another cause of vitamin Ddeficiency is the fact that there is a minimal amount
of food that naturally contains enough vitamin D to supply our needs adequately.
Vitamin D deficiency is known to cause rickets, osteopenia, osteoporosis, and bone
fractures. It also has been linked to an increase risk of common cancers, autoimmune
diseases, hypertension, and infectious diseases. People, birds, amphibians, reptiles,
and primates depend on sun exposure for their vitamin D requirements. Also, some
of the smallest life forms in the Atlantic Ocean like phytoplankton have existed for

During that same time in the 1930 s, the US government also insisted on the

fish like herring, cod, and salmon that carry a significant source of vitamin
Increasing The Minimum Wage Essay
Increase of Minimum Wage Decreases Economic Woes An issue that has been
debating throughout centuries is whether or not America should increase the
minimum wage. This is an issue that has been arising to be relevant to pboeople all
over the nation. Researches have provided logical facts and statistics on how
increasing the minimum wagewould be the solution to America s debt. Increasing the
minimum wage has also been successful in several countries including Germany.
Studies have shown that decreasing the minimum wage is unlikely to solve any
economic woes. While when we increase the minimum wage it benefits the economy,
employment as well as dexterous people. Furthermore, increasing the minimum wage
comes with advantageous traits such as improving the economy. According to a study
from The Economist in 2016 conducted by Buttonwood states, some British
companies that voluntarily shifted to a higher living wage found that staff
absenteeism and turnover rates reduced, and productivity improved (Buttonwood).
Having a higher productivity means that the country will improve economically. One
of the most memorable historical events that America can relate to is the Great
Depression . President Franklin D. Roosevelt improved the economy by increasing
the minimum wage making the productivity rate rise showing a direct correlation. In
addition, another magazine article from Tharawat written by a staff writer, Marie

Summary
The story opens on a chilly December morning. An elderly Africanв€’American
woman named Phoenix Jackson is making her way, slowly but surely, through the
woods, tapping an umbrella on the ground in front of her as she walks. Her shoes
are untied. While she taps along, she talks to the animals in the woods, telling
them to keep out of her way. As the path goes up a hill, she complains about how
difficult walking becomes. It becomes evident that she has made this journey
many times before; she is familiar with all the twists and turns in the trail. She
talks aimlessly to herself. Her eyesight is poor, and she catches her skirt in the
thorns on a bush. After walking across a log to traverse a stream, she rests. She
imagines a boy bringing her a slice of cake but opens her eyes to find her hand in
the air, grasping nothing. The terrain becomes more difficult, and at a certain point
she thinks she sees a ghost, but it is only a scarecrow. Blaming the confusion on
her age and the fact that her senses is gone, she moves on. She meets a black dog
with a lolling tongue. She hits the dog lightly with her cane, and the effort knocks
her off balance and she falls into a ditch. The dog s owner, a white hunter, happens
by and helps her out of the ditch. When he hears that she is attempting to make it into
town, he says it is too far and tells her to go home. But Phoenix is determined, and

that it s not the type of apocalypse you think. The world does not bursting into flames
or even a swarm of zombies running around. The apocalypse seems quiet and
everything just slowly disappearing one item, thought, memory, or person at time.
The protagonist through out the story deals with the disappear of not only everything

why the worldcontinues towards an end of everything and if there seems to show a
pattern to it. The protagonist keeps going back to the old relationship before the

The social environment at the time of end of the world wasn t chaotic like what
we see in movies. It started with people freaking out then after a few weeks settling
down and accepting the fact that there was nothing we can do to stop it, you just
have to make the time you have left worth it. This setting adds to the story by
giving the reader an image that would be different then what they might have
thought the end of the world would look like. The setting also adds to the conflict
of the story. With the conflict being everything seems to be disappearing, literally
the setting disappears as we read through out the story. The setting adds suspense to
the story, keeping the reader on the edge of there seat wondering what was going to
disappear next. The writer shows uses a great form of imagery to get the reader to
understand the true emptiness of the setting this story is placed in Sound carried
further these days, tearing through the thin air like stone thrown as hard as you can

put themselves into the environment of the story. Which is so important because the
setting provides the framework for what is being discussed.

Benefits Of Payroll Outsourcing
Payroll outsourcing can save companies time and money. It allows the business to
not waste man hours handling a function that doesn t bring in any revenue. The cost
of payroll processing is greatly reduced by using a payroll service company. It
usually costs more to pay an employee to handle the payroll than it would cost to
outsource to a professional company.
Another cost savings of outsourcing is avoiding penalties and fees from the IRS and
state if a tax filing or payment is submitted late or incorrectly. In the event that an
error does occur most payroll service companies will pay the penalties and interest
that are accrued.
Payroll companies [http://www.apluspayrollservice.com] stay up to date on the
newest tax tables and tax laws. Tax laws are constantly changing and payroll
companies stay on top of the new changes to keep the business out of trouble. Payroll
companies offer services like direct deposit and pay as you go workers compensation
insurance that some employers can t get by themselves. Some payroll service
companies can also help with the set up and administration of employee benefits. ...

Many business owners realize the benefits of outsourcing the payroll service

Along The River During The Qingming Festival Analysis
When mentioning Along the River During the Qingming Festival, most people will
immediately think of the version by the Song dynasty artist Zhang Zeduan, which is
undeniably the earliest and most well known version. There are many copies and
variations of this work, including a painting by the Ming dynasty artist Qiu Ying,
which is also called Along the River During the Qingming Festival. Although the
artist uses the same title, this painting has its own beauty and connotative meanings
that cannot be ignored and which people need to discover and appreciate. Zhang
Zeduan s masterpiece depicts the landscape of his hometown, Kaifeng and the life of
its people during the Song dynasty. Nearly 500 years later, Qiu Ying portrayed his
hometown Suzhou in a similar way, but in his version, the scenes are different to the
original version. Compared to Zhang, Qiu Ying added more blue and green landscape
patterns, and the feeling of the artisan is not strong in this work. The most important
thing is that both artists show different visual perspectives of the culture and customs
of the city. According to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Qiu s work depicts the prosperity of Suzhou in the middle era of the Ming

history by combining the history and reality of a genre painting. So many landmark
buildings in Suzhou are clearly recognizable which show the developed economy and
traditions of the Ming dynasty and the artist s own style. Qiu Ying uses the traditional
blue and green style in this painting, leading to a beautiful picture which is filled with

Drug Court Model
Our textbook describes the two general types of drug courts as pretrial diversion,
and post adjudication (Schmalleger Smykla, 2015, p 132). Reading the section on
drug courts one might conclude drug courts are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
However, I attest this is not the truth. I have personally seen the effects of drug
courts, and they simply do not work. Drug court is an example of Packer s crime
control model. Offenders are placed in drug court because of plea bargains.
Sentencing an offender to drug court leaves the prosecution as well as the defense
the ability to move on to other cases. Furthermore, drug court is a cost saving method
of justice in that an offender does not have to serve jail or prison time, thus,
eliminating the cost of incarceration.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Music In The 1920 s
The World With a Little Jazz Can you imagine a genre that would appeal to
everyone? How about a style of music that would help bring different ethnic groups
together? Well, in the beginning of the 1920 s, one genre in particular had an
outbreak that would change the United States forever. Jazzmusicmodified the world
with its groovy beats, calming instruments and powerful vocalists. The 1920 s or
the Jazz Age, were years of change as America recovered from World War 1 and
embraced new ways of behaving and thinking (Benson, Brannen, Jr. and Valentine

The Importance Of Government Regulations
Government regulation is important to society. A protection to both society and the
citizens, criminal law allows for government intervention on the daily issues of the
country
(Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 15). Regulations purposes listed here are just a
few:
Protecting the environment, regulating the marketplace, and regulating individuals
(Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 16 25). The government is concerned with the amount of damage
caused by human beings to earth. Water supplies are being damaged through
agricultural by products, industries are spewing chemicals in the air, water, and
ground, and the disposal of waste in our lands and water (Saunders and Bromwich,
2016, p. 16). The government regulates the destruction of earth by creating ways to
incentivize and protect the environment (Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 16).
In the marketplace, rich businesses cause white collar crimes. Fraud, scams, or
misleading advertisements are regulated by the government through criminal law
(Saunders and
Bromwich, 2016, p. 20 21). Furthermore, the government is obligated to regulate the
individuals within society (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 23 25). Crime happens
because of human greed and corruption, and the government needs to set down rules
to prevent and protect the law abiding citizens. There will be three types of
government regulations that will be addressed. The first method of government
regulation is taxes (Saunders and Bromwich, 2016, p. 27). By

The Math Autobiography of Jacqueline Gandara Mathematics is the study of the
sciences of numbers, quantities, geometry and forms. ( Mathematics dictionary

complex. Over the years I have learned that math is not my cup of tea. I think I
liked it more when I was younger, when it was simple, and easier. I guess you could
say that I liked basic math, like adding, subtracting, and multiplying. Growing up, I
actually had no problem with basic math. It was easier when I was in elementary

Level 2 math is used in this career and it is most likely not used on a daily basis.
(Corporation, 2016) However, basic math is necessary to get through some of the
rules and regulations. For example, let s say someone attempts to cross the border
with 39, 12 oz. cans of beer and 6, 12 oz. cans of ale. This is legal by law if the
person meets the legal drinking age of 21. However, there is a limit of 40 oz. of
liquor, wine or 24, 12 oz. cans or bottles of beer or ale. This person has passed the
limit so, he has to pay a fine of 94 cents for every can that he has gone over. You
have to use your basic math skill to figure out how much money this man owes for
bringing extra liquor. 45 cans (what this guy is bringing) minus 24 (the limit)
equals 21 cans. 21 multiplied by $0.94 cents is $19.74. This man owes a total of
$19.74 for his extra liquor. (Corporation, 2016) The math class I plan to take for my
major is college Algebra. Even though I probably will not use it in my career, I have
chosen to take it because I am pretty good at it and it is also essential for a bachelor s

Sources Of Authority In Antigone
One of the most popular conflicts from classical Greek literature is the one found
between Antigone and Creon in Sophocles play Antigone. After a lethal conflict that
left both of Antigone s brothers dead, Creon ordered that Polyneices (one of
Antigone s brothers who fought against Creon s state) be denied a proper and
honorable burial. Antigone opposed Creon s order; her own religious faith to the
Greek Gods demanded that she defy the decree and bury Polynices anyways. This
tension between the two characters proposes an interesting and complex dynamic
between the two different sources of authority. Both attempt argue that their source of
authority and the obligation that are connected with it is more legitimate, thus
delegitimizing each other s laws. However, as stated by Molly Farneth in her essay
Gender and the Ethical Given, both of these laws come into conflict because both
authorities are unwilling to compromise and modify their strict standards. This
tension is subsequently caused by a number of factors, and Farneth goes into detail
investigating each of these components, ranging from gender roles in ancient Greek
society to the role of ethics in how the law is applied. I agree with the arguments
made by Farneth and through my research, I hope to understand how these sources of
authority are viewed by and pursue this topic in a view focused on justice. There are
many interesting question that arise regarding the relationship between the authority
of the law as well

students are exposed to every working environment and situation which can included
predatory, discriminatory environments. [...] We need to assure that they have rights
and protections.
Description of services
Extending protections to unpaid interns from discrimination and retaliation on the
basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status,
age, military service, and disability (Littler Mendelson, 2013), was a top priority of
this bill. This nationwide issue has received national attention after several cases of
sexual harassment being refused to be heard by the courts. Interns who are not
receiving a paycheck are not employees under the Civil Rights Act and thus, they re
not protected (Hickman Thompson, 2013).
Empowering interns to have legal access to their guaranteed civil rights has been an
issue due to a legal loophole in language, while this has been a long standing issue,
Oregon showed that it can be closed with a simple bill that had unanimous bi partisan
support.

that needs counteractive strategies to survive. Principles of global talent management
can come handy in choosing the right talent at the right time to ensure that
institutions especially financial institution can sustain local and international
economies .
KEY WORDS : Principles of global talent management, global competitiveness,
financial institutions
INTRODUCTION
Global competitiveness is one area all businesses are striving to attain because it
comes with increased market share and increased profits. Institutions need man power
that is capable of making them compete as market leaders such employees we term
them talent for they come with their gift or are trained to attain that status of
becoming an important asset of the organization.
Role of strategy alignment on global competitiveness of financial institutions in kenya
Talent management starts with corporate strategy. It guides managers on decisions
about what type of talent they need. The emphasis is on placing the right person for
the right job. Through the annual institutional and worker review process emphasis
should be placed on effectiveness of the worker on achievement of the objectives set
in the performance (Edwards, 2010 Foster et al., 2010, Frimann, MГёnsted, 2012)).
The Knights Of Labor During The Civil Era
As Napoleon Hill once said, Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries
with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit . This holds true to the Knights of
Labor in their endeavor to increase solidarity and unity, by encouraging opposing
communities to work together, thus improving the lives of workers and their families
during the diminutive period of time when the Knights of Labor were active. The
Knight s tackled the monopolists and fought for the justices they knew to be theirs, in
strong efforts to improve societal inequalities organizing groups of workers
throughout different classes of sex, race, and skill. The major impacts that the
Knights of Labor had on society during their peak, as well as in the future, can be
illustrated by 3 principal criteria that this paper will be centralized around. Firstly,
the Knights of Labor were dreamers they encouraged people to look forward and
take action against poor circumstances and lack of power; because of this, they
were ahead of other labour organizations during this time as the Knights fought
against what others said to be unalterable. Second, the Knights of Labor brought
disparate groups together, forging the way to a progressive society in the height of
an otherwise racist and sexist one. Lastly, the Knights of Labor drew a significant
expansion of wage earnings across North America providing many people with secure
jobs and a culture in which they were protected by unity.
The Knights of Labor were
Tyranny In Macbeth
Effects of Tyranny in Macbeth and The Winter s Tale
Shakespeare uses the device of tyranny to drive the plots of various plays through
turmoil and the conquering of such destructive actions and to drive the characters
towards madness and other unfortunate ends and for others to rise above them. One
of the central foundations of these plays and the use of tyranny is how it effects the
women of these plays. Forcing them to follow the male leads either down the path
of desire for power strong enough that it can only lead them finally to insanity, or to
attempt to stand as righteous before the oppressing character and be led to their own
demise. This is especially clear in Macbeth and The Winter s Tale, where the
characters are driven into either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such the acts of tyranny are not the central focus of the play, they are the
catalyst of the plot but not the driving force. Within this play the acts of tyranny
are what sets the events of the world into motion. And as like in Macbeth the
natural world does respond to these acts of tyranny ...brought the seal d up oracle,
by the hand deliver d of great Apollo s preist; and that, since then, you have not
dared to break the holy seal nor read the secrets in t... Hermione is chaste;
Polixenes blameless; Camillo a true subject; Leontes a jealous tyrant; his innocent
babe truly begotten; and the king shall live without an heir, if that which is lost is
not found. (The Winter s Tale 3.2.128 135) The natural order of the world has thus
been interrupted by Leontes jealousy of his wife and Polixenes and this is the point
where the world, through the vehicle of the gods, tries to set the balance straight in
the face of tyranny. However, as Leontes ignores this message the tragic events are
set into motion as the Prince dies immediately after his father s decision to ignore the
heavens and Hermione dies soon after that Apollo s angry; and the heavens
themselves do strike my injustices...Apollo, pardon my great profaneness gainst thine
oracle! (3.2.146 155) However, unlike in Macbeth the ending of this play does not

Review on Repair in The Handbook of Conversation Analysis by Celia Kitzinger
Repair is a field of study in conversation analysis, and several linguists had been
working on this topic since 1970s. This chapter from The Handbook of Conversation
Analysis focuses on the domain of repair, introducing current research results about
the various types of repair made in speech, making it clear for readers who might not
have much knowledge in this field. Consequently, possible functions and sequence of
these repairing acts are described and explained with ample easy to understand
examples. The researches cited in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She claimed that repair is performed so as to fine tune a turn, in order to perform
certain actions which the speaker intends to achieve. She mentioned upgrading and
downgrading the force of action as one of the possible interactional uses of repair. I
do agree with this point since we may sometimes mistakenly make an extreme
comment on an event or a thing at first and we would try to downgrade that to a
milder word in order to avoid misunderstandings or even arguments. Thus, I believe
repairing may carry social functions in certain
Circumcision Is A Debating Procedure For Many Years
Circumcision has been a debating procedure for many years. It is a procedure that
means cutting off the foreskin, or ring of tissue that covers the head of the penis.
Circumcision is said to have started many years ago and is a big part is some
religions. For example, according to the book of Genesis in the Torah, god made a
covenent with Abraham (a Jewish patriarch) in which Abraham and his decendents
would be given great land riches, and success. There was only one catch, Abraham,
his descendants, any slaves purchased or born in his house hold by the eighth day of
life. If any failed to do so then they would be separate from his people and live
without the favor of god. Untill this day Jewish people have lived by that and is a
strong religious belief. This procedure on the Jews was called a bris or brit milah.
Even though circumcision was practiced in different areas of the world, it was first
documented in art form by the Egyptians. They circumcised because they believed it
was a method of purification. It later started making its way to other cultures, but
nobody really knows why the practice spread nor why it even started.
Many other countries removed the foreskin because they believed it marked entrance
into adulthood, to humiliate enemies, to identify those with higher social status, to
enhance or limit sexual pleasure. Also having your penis circumcised helped make it
easier to maintain clean. Normally circumcision was done at the age where they
thought was

Because we are in multiple locations and the need to track employee hours we have
implemented an IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system for time and attendance.
Interactive Voice Response is a technology that automates interaction with
telephone callers. Our organization has digital T1 lines. These lines are connected

Western Culture In Relationship To Others Overview Was Columbus a saint or a
sinner? Was his discovery of the New World in 1492 a blessing to us all or, more
importantly, is that curse still with us? Did he bring joy, happiness and progress or
did he light the flame of oppression? Today he is considered responsible, at least to
a great degree, of bringing the Western (then Spanish) culture to the American
continent North and South. So, even now, 500 years after his voyage of discovery
across the Atlantic with a crew of sailors yearning for adventure and riches, the
debate is still going on. Did he do good, or should he have stayed home and never
sailed out from Spain? Did Western (and then Spanish) culture serve a higher
purpose...... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What exactly do we mean when we talk about this cultural dominance ? Here are
some dictionary definitions of culture from various sources: The beliefs, customs,
arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time A particular society that has
its own beliefs, ways of life, art, etc. A way of thinking, behaving, or working that
exists in a place or organization (such as a business) the beliefs, customs, arts, etc.,

particular society, group, place, or time A particular society that has its own
beliefs, ways of life, art, etc. A way of thinking, behaving, or working that exists in
a place or organization (such as a business) In other words, the definition is very
broad and all inclusive and I believe it makes sense to use that wide ranging
approach to what we mean when we talk about culture. Now, are different cultures
as valuable and useful or is Western (American) culture really superior? If so, should
we not impose it and promote it aggressively? Different Perspectives Let me
summarize a discussion held on the 500th anniversary of Columbus s voyage that

The Republic Of The Dominican Republic Essay
The dominican Republic is known as the breadbasket of the Caribbean because it
grows, farms, and catches almost everything that s served for breakfast, lunch, and
dinner. The Dominican Republic was the first colony founded by Christopher
Columbus. It used to go by La Hispaniola in colonial times. Also the flag of the
Dominican Republicis the only national flag in the world to feature the image of a
bible. My country is the Dominican Republic. I learned about the culture, food,
religion, imports and exports, geography, sports, and family. All of it was very eye
opening.
Geography
The geography is pretty much the same as most countries. The natural resources are
nickel, gold, and silver. They have mountains with valleys, and rugged highlands. The
highest elevation is three thousand one hundred seventy five meters. It is located in
the heart of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is surrounded by the Atlantic
Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Dominican Republic is the second highest island in the
Caribbean, with a surface area of forty eight thousand one hundred ninety eight square
kilometers, which is slightly more than twice the size of New Hampshire, USA. The
biggest city is Santiago de los Caballeros, with five hundred one thousand eight
hundred people. There are now about 8.5 million permanent residents in the country.
The capital of the Dominican Republic is Santo Domingo, which is the oldest city in
the new world. It has a population of about 2.5 million people. The

Waist Training Corsets Research Paper
Wouldn t you just love to reduce your waist size and get an hourglass shaped body?
Whatever your size is, it is possible to shape your body properly with the help of
the right waist training corsets. As a matter of fact, you can reduce your waist size
by three or four inches if you wear the correct ones on a regular basis. However,
you need to be able to select the right kind of corsets so that you get the results you
desire without harming your body in any way.
The best waist training corsets are ones that are sturdy rather than merely
decorative. Corsets made of lace and satin are great to get your partner s pulse
racing in the bedroom. However, they are absolutely no use in helping shape your
torso. You need to buy a corsetthat has spiral

  • 2. Film Analysis Of The Film Edward Scissor Hands Essay The film Edward Scissor Hands by Tim Burton is seen as a modern day fairytale with the story of a young man being pulled out of a solitary life into a large town that has a very social community. When you look closely at the film you can see that it has many deeper meanings and emotions that are displayed themes throughout the film, some of these are: appearance vs reality, Conformity/sameness and Self discovery. Throughout this film we see the theme appearance vs reality which is shown many times. For example, at the start of the movie we see the mansion which makes the film look like a horror film but when you see it you are surprised since it has a big colorful well kept garden and it makes it look a lot less intimidating. This means that lower class children are still more likely to have a lesser education than those pupils who are more privileged (). Rather than improving life chances for all the pupils through education the system, it still leaves a barrier which is not equal. This lack of equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents have about schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents that have more of a cultural, social and economical capital have more choice on where to send their child. Money can help if the best school is far away of if the child needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a good understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to influence their child to choose a certain path. This therefore puts the middle class and above in an improved position than the classic working class as they would have the knowledge as well as the finances to put their child in a higher achieving school with a higher reputation or place them in private schools, like; Harrow or Eton, which would be the gateway to success as they would more and greater connections in the real

A Clockwork Orange Dialectical Journal Essay A Clockwork Orange Journal 1: pages 3 56 I found the first section of the novel, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess to be confusing, but at the same time interesting. Burgess ideas were organized and thorough in each chapter. The use of foreshadowing was used at the end of the first chapter implying violent acts throughout the rest of the section. The constant use of slang called, Nadsat threw off my focus while reading due to the distraction of flipping back and forth from the glossary back to the novel. Why The Government Should Receive Welfare Most people think welfare recipients are jobless individuals that receive benefits from the government but in fact they are required to be employed to receive welfare. Welfare recipients may depend on the government to help make ends meet because they may not have all their necessities met on their own. For this reason the governmentshould provide programs that promote self sufficiency among welfare recipients. The purpose of welfare is to give financial support to the families in need. As a result since 1973, worker productivity has grown . . . almost six times faster than wages (Gilman 2018). • 7. Francis Bacon as Shakespeare Francis Bacon as Shakespeare For almost four hundred years the question of who truly wrote the works attributed to William Shakespeare has been studied meticulously by many scholars and historians. There have been many well qualified contenders, including Sir Francis Bacon. Because of the incredible number of coincidences between Shakespeare and Bacon, it is obvious that Bacon wrote Shakespeare. Firstly, the actor William Shakespeare, who is the supposed author of Shakespeare s works, could not have written them. He had no formal education after thirteen, was from a small provincial town, was a professional actor, had two daughters who were illiterate, didn t mention any of his works in his will, and whose only surviving handwriting is six signatures on legal documents (Rubenstein 69). Shakespeare is considered one of the greatest authors in history, and without a formal education the intricacy of his work would be impossible. It should also be put in consideration that many of Shakespeare s works were not only published but edited after his death. From the publication of The Taming of the Shrew in 1594 to the publication of the First Folio in 1623, 4,936 new lines were added to the plays, a majority of which were added posthumously (sirbacon). This in itself is evidence enough to disprove Shakespeare entirely. Unlike William Shakespeare, Sir Francis Bacon was very well qualified to have written Shakespeare s works. Bacon was a highly educated Member of

An elderly Africanв€’American woman named Phoenix Jackson is making her way, slowly but surely, through the woods, tapping an umbrella on the ground in front of her as she walks. Her shoes are untied. While she taps along, she talks to the animals in the woods, telling them to keep out of her way. As the path goes up a hill, she complains about how difficult walking becomes. It becomes evident that she has made this journey many times before; she is familiar with all the twists and turns in the trail. She talks aimlessly to herself. Her eyesight is poor, and she catches her skirt in the thorns on a bush. After walking across a log to traverse a stream, she rests. She imagines a boy bringing her a slice of cake but opens her eyes to find her hand in the air, grasping nothing. The terrain becomes more difficult, and at a certain point she thinks she sees a ghost, but it is only a scarecrow. Blaming the confusion on her age and the fact that her senses is gone, she moves on. She meets a black dog with a lolling tongue. She hits the dog lightly with her cane, and the effort knocks her off balance and she falls into a ditch. The dog s owner, a white hunter, happens by and helps her out of the ditch. When he hears that she is attempting to make it into town, he says it is too far and tells her to go home. But Phoenix is determined, and Author Biography

Antigone opposed Creon s order; her own religious faith to the Greek Gods demanded that she defy the decree and bury Polynices anyways.
