Water supply and sanitation in Chile has high levels of access and good service
quality. Compared to most other countries. Chile s water and sanitation sector
distinguishes itself by the fact that almost all urban water companies are privately
owned or operated. The sector also prides itself of having a modern and effective
regulatory framework, including an innovative subsidy to water demand by the

Along parts of the Central and Southern coast of continental Chile. Soils derived
from metamorphic and other rocks are very common, and are intermixed with those
derived from volcanic ashes. The soils of the Patagonian region have been the
subject of limited studies and reflect an extremely complex geography and

accepted by society as a viable right to suffering patients. A DNR order indicates that
a person has decided not to receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event that
their heart stops beating. The patient s relatives and doctors want to know what the
patient intended for their life when they still had the capability of making these
choices without any assistance. This gives the patient and their relatives the
opportunity to discuss their values along with the prognosis in order to come to a
definite decision.

Responsible and coherent decision making between physicians and patients about the
preferences of CPR requires that patients be properly educated on all the procedure s
risks. When doing this, it is also important that the physician conveys concise
probabilities of outcomes and that the resuscitation will be nothing more than an
attempted rather than a guarantee when CPR is used. Documenting the patient s
wishes in verbal and written health care directives will provide support for the
decision to write a DNR order and maintain it through the hospitalization. There is a
time and a place for DNR orders and they should be implemented with sensitivity.
When the order is written, this is the time for the physician to step forward and
provide care and compassion to the patients and their families during their final
moments.
